Can we please talk about how overtly autistic Michael is in the new season of heartstopper. And it’s shown as a positive thing and not made fun of at all. It made me so happy and I loved how he was just shown as a character who is there for Tori and not some weird guy no one likes. It meant a lot to me and made me happy stim every time he was on screen.

Guys my roman empire is actually Tori Spring. I loved solitare so much but god did it hurt me to my core. Poor Tori is always kinda left behind yk? She didn't really have anyone to rely on, her brother was her best friend, but she wasn't her brothers. She was just being alive, she wasn't living. Tori struggling so much hurt me so much, esp after I read solitare because it's just so similar to like how I feel. Like she had friends, but they weren't really her best friends, and she had her brothers, but her brothers have friends, and charlie has nick. Tori just cares so much about Charlie, and she struggles so quietly like oml I feel so sad for her, and I'm literally so interested in how they explore her character

One of my favourite things about Heartstopper the show is how we are not shown everything from two of the most masked characters in the show's POV: Charlie and Tori Spring. Charlie is hiding so much so well in season one and two, that when the full extent is revealed in season three and you go back to season one and notice all the: napping, hiding from even his friends at lunch time more than was shown but Tao misunderstanding why, the staring at food and the arm rubbing, we go ohhh, it was there and he was suffering the whole time.

Same with Tori in season 3. Solitaire, the novel is in a parallel timeline to the events of season 3. If you leave out the dramatic events of that novel as Heartstopper show has done (the mystery happening at Higgs and the Ben Hope of it all), you get an understanding of why Tori is in tears almost the whole season. It goes so much deeper than Charlie, and also, she isn't alone. She has a friend group, she's just been choosing to be alone. Plus, her friends are not as attentive as Charlie's are.

So what I appreciate is that fans of the show have more puzzles to uncover if they read the books now and do rewatches. The Springs' mental health is the centre of this universe but it's hidden in different ways. They are the main characters, and yet they show the outside world little of what is going on underneath it all. This must make so many people feel seen, who have the issues they have. Plus for people who don't have bad mental health, I hope they are able to recognise the signs of someone in distress, or understand them better.

I rly hate the lack of Tori content

Like, I understand why most of the content is about Charlie and heartstopper because! There's more content there, and they have a TV show, and an ongoing plot, and like, Charlie is the main character, and he goes through a lot, so naturally he's going to be the main focus! But like...

Tori has a whole book about her. Not just her own book, but the first book. She's the first character in the Osmanverse. Every other character technically stemmed from her.

In that book, it is almost entirely about her depression, and her struggle, and her downward spiral, and-

Like. Charlie obviously has a lot of struggle. Obviously. But so does Tori, and I wish some people would get that? Like, I get some people haven't read Solitaire. But, like, even in the TV show you can see her struggling in the background and I wish some people would just acknowledge that.

"they're literally me" is a great way to connect to a fictional character but "they were literally me when i read/watched this for the first time but it's been a few years and i've outgrown them now" is maybe an even more precious connection to have to a character or piece of media. it's sad to lose the ability to connect to a certain character so completely but at the same time i've found it's very precious to have a place to put some of that strange fondness and sadness you feel for your younger self
