genuinely shoutout to any indigenous and poc warrior cats fans. this fandom is honestly one of the most vile and racist i’ve ever been apart of and it’s insane that you have to deal with that shit just to engage with the fandom of content you love.

Confession time: I absolutely detest Shellheart full stop. The fandom heralds him as a fantastic father for doing the absolute bare minimum which is break up with Rainflower. Okay great, but what did he do about Rain’s abuse and negligence otherwise? Was he sleeping in the nursery with Stormkit when Rainflower was depriving him of warmth and separating him from Oakkit? Did he fight back against Rainflower’s cruel decision to name Stormkit after his disability? Keep in mind this dude isn’t a random clanmate HE IS DEPUTY OF RIVERCLAN. You know, the second most powerful cat and major figure of authority over all the common warriors? Common warriors very much including Rainflower so please pray tell why he didn’t intervene. Like seriously are you supposed to convince me the goddamn leader’s right hand man couldn’t do anything to prevent this other than twiddle his thumbs and give a halfhearted “sorry”? Fuck Hailstar too for allowing this clearly abusive woman to walk all over him and actually go along with the dumbass request to rename a child after his trauma. What is wrong with these cats? Anyway. I’m tired of people acting as if Shellheart deserves accolades and laurels for being an enabler of abuse when not contributing literally anything to help Stormkit in a manner that is actually substantial while simultaneously having more than the means to do so. I’ve seen multiple people go as far to say he’s “one of the best fathers in warriors” which is an actual joke. If you want to give credit to a cat who is a genuinely great parental figure Brambleberry is right there, acting as a major emotional support and advisor for Storm’s entire life. Also shoutout Oakheart, who managed to show more compassion for his brother than both of his useless loser parents combined.

do y’all see jay as a redhead???? I always saw him a brunette. Or. I guess a brune? Is brunette a gendered term????

Don’t let this poll stop you from drawing him any way you would like, this is just curiosity getting the better of me 😅 I do think of all the ninja Jay is the most likely to dye his hair (fortnite) ninja blue or something but that’s just my read on him.

warrior cats! shoutout to me age 6-11 (well. arguably 8-11 was when i was in the fandom proper and doing fan stuff online?). i still miss the WCF sometimes

hmmm. does it have to be a fandom i'm still in. does it have to be consecutive or are we counting "i took a multiyear break". possible contenders: - warrior cats (see above; in it for either 3 years or 5 years depending how you count, definitely wins on length of interest, but i am no longer into it) - mdzs (got into it in 2020, recently returned, so you can either say i was in it for like a year and a half or that i was in it for 4 years, and unlike warrior cats i am currently still into it) - dsmp (got into it in 2021 but am still in it, so it's another 3-years-consecutively but it's another one i'm still into)

my fav thing abt the warrior cats fandom is that everyone sort of follows canon but like a little in any direction. Like no one is super close to canon and i love that. If i search up jayfeather fanart the first two options will be vastly different and i love that. Everyone has their own little design world, and even though they followed the blueprints, they did the interior design. (Shoutout to the au makers who say fuck the blueprints yall are awesome)

oh BIG yeah!! the creativity of the community is pretty cool, love seeing the different interpretations of scenes, designs, characters, etc.

canon is just an optional guideline for everyone lol

Small reminder of what Cinderpelt looks like to the people who made the figures. It's not as good as it could be because she was mauled by dogs but it's also still a nice example of what her scars look like. I'd personally say the scars wrap around and up to her ear but at least it's not as bad as just a line over her eye.

favorite childhood book: uhhh so i only remember really early childhood and later childhood. i know i had other favorites between like 5-8 or so. but you’re getting what i can remember ajdjwjd. as a YOUNG kid i loved “goodnight moon”. the kids book of all time. and in later childhood, outside of my obsession with the warrior cats franchise (a given), i really loved the inheritance cycle books. i need to reread them so bad SO BAD. also i need to get the illustrated edition of eragon. shakes.

I think there is something interesting about critiques of Warrior Cats versus like, more adult media. And that's the way that Warrior Cats is, ultimately, a series for children, and I believe the fandom can sometimes be a great way to point out the major, major morals this series imparts. I think that characters should be and are encouraged to be flawed, HOWEVER, I wish that Warriors would be a little more careful with the messages that get put on page, whether they intend for it or not. Things like, get back with your abuser (Squirrelflight and Bramblestar, Dovewing and Tigerheartstar will remain an example of this to me too, even though it worked out), or literally anything about adoption from Dawn of the Clans, or the ways outsiders are portrayed. Or Spottedleaf's Heart.

I think the ways in which people make criticisms to Warriors in particular is really meaningful because I remember reading these books as a child myself and being so immersed in it. I also remember the Warriors forums and how awful the opinions on there could be sometimes, solely because of influence from the books. I don't know. I just feel like it's important to really nitpick children's media.

Like, Wings of Fire is by no means perfect, but at the very least it tries to have every character grow by the end of the book in some meaningful way that children and adults are able to understand. Warriors, I think, should lean into that more. Every book seems to be trying to tell a story rather than to impart something meaningful, and I think that's a little sad, considering the potential there to talk about the difficulties of family dynamics, the closeness and problems of communities, and just.. so much more than it has been.

So shoutout to people who rewrite! It's a tough job, but y'all are nailing it.
