Round 2
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Propaganda Under Cut
Allura
Lots of people (myself included tbh) ship klance (Keith and Lance). In s8 the creators made Allura/Lance canon (but then they killed her off and left the ending ambiguous it was weird). Anyway the fandom treats her like she's the most terrible bitchy woman ever but all she wants to do is end the war and avenge her destroyed home planet. Yeah she wasn't always the nicest or always the best, but you could argue some other characters in the show aren't either and they aren't treated near as bad as allura. people really just hate her bc Lance liked her. I don't think allura/lance are good together, but I still liked her as a character and thought she was interesting and had a lot of growth during the show. she DEF is not evil like some people portray her as in fic or talk about her in captions on posts. I've seen people say that they HATE her and that she's the worst and I'm like ??? let her live (well sort of ig she is dead now). lots of fic writers use her as the villain which is so interesting to me bc the show literally has villains like use them. anyway allura so perfectly fits the bracket description she deserves better.
I hate to acknowledge my time in this fandom but I hate the way the fandom treated her more. Allura was treated like shit no matter what side of the Great Ship War you were on because she was always a threat to the biggest ships (klance and sheith). At best she got put into Background Lesbian or Consolation Prize Shallura (Space Mom-zoned) (She was not a motherly figure btw. She was just Black). At worst she was violently demonized for being ~racist~ (kinda not cool with the alien race that blew up her planet for a few episodes), complete with misogynistic language hurled at her (she got called a bitch sooo much). Allura was a good and cool character and the show did her dirty but the fandom was somehow worse.
i apologise for speaking the dark magicks, but amidst the voltron fandoms many, many transgressions, there were a particular subset of people who just hated this girl. the infamous klance wars of the 2010s kept this perfectly fine childrens cartoon character in the sights of shippers everywhere, and she (and her voice actress im sure) were subjected to years of petty squabble blown up to global perportions. ive seen hate, ive seen rants, ive seen fanfics that made her homophobic. girls been through the ringer, and even though voltron was never the show its fandom wanted it to be, i believe allura deserved better
Mary Morstan
a controversial one i know, but it’s tumblr. how could i not? anyway shoutout to the writers for CANONICALLY killing her off for the non-canon ship. she was so cool honestly poor girl
Oh god where do I start? Constantly being turned abusive? Killed off (in canon!)? Constantly being removed from fic? I cannot stand the way she's treated, but it's 100% impossible to find Johnlock fic without the "umsympathetic Mary Morstan" angle. It's infuriating!
The fandom insulted Mary at every conceivable turn, refused to acknowledge her narrative importance or impact on the other characters, called for her death repeatedly, and even SENT DEATH THREATS TO HER ACTRESS because she had the AUDACITY to be a morally gray female character who was married to John (they did not care about the moral grayness of the male characters, but she was irredeemable, apparently-presumably because she was a "threat" to the main fandom ship). And though she was definitely sacrificed on a SPECIFIC mlm ship altar, she was still tangentially victimized by OTHER mlm ships too! For example, this fandom was willing to make up a character WHO LITERALLY DID NOT ACTUALLY EXIST to ship with different male character (who was morally...way worse than she ever was), as well as create swathes of content about two men who had maybe one canon interaction in the whole show, before even thinking about the possibility of making content for this character or even just talking about her in a way that wasn't overtly misogynistic and degrading. When Mary died in-story (in what, in my opinion, was an unnecessary, bullshit way), her death was, to this fanbase, not actually about her and was just seen as "proof" that the two male leads would now get together (they didn't). And this STILL continues to this day. People reduce her to "selfish bitch," completely ignoring any of her complexity by claiming that she's incapable of caring about anyone (despite helping to save lives on more than one occasion, as well as dying in an act of sacrifice) and insisting that any of her positive qualities MUST be completely fabricated. I've seen a lot of female characters get mistreated by fandom for a mlm ship's sake, but I don't think I've EVER encountered an example as bad as this one.

HP Rec Fest 2024
day 15: a fic over 50k
“I chose the hard path. I chose to avoid taking the one brutal act that would end a war for good, because it was wrong. Murder is wrong. It doesn't matter who is murdered or why, there can be no justification, and no "forgiveness."”
I thought it would be fun to recommend a fic just a little over 50k for @hprecfest today, and my mind immediately went to Quantum Leap by scoradh. please mind the MCD tag but don’t let that put you off—despite the ending, this fic is absolutely worth reading and surprisingly funny at times. I’ve yet to find someone who crafts and delivers dialogue as brilliantly as scoradh, it feels so genuine and organic. all her characters come alive with wit and personality through their lines, with a special shoutout to Bella & Narcissa at the beginning, and also Dudley, who’s a delight and develops a fascinating bromance with Draco.
without giving too much away, this is an Horcrux AU set after the events of 6th year: as the war escalates, Draco is assigned to kill Dumbledore and much to his dismay (and our entertainment) ends up moving in with Harry. the slow burn is slow indeed, filled with plenty of snark (Draco’s such a little shit, I love it), delicious sexual tension (gay awakening, my beloved!), and some hilarious exchanges with the Dursleys. but, as with any war fic, we can’t ever forget that the stakes are high.
as usual, scoradh uses a dreamlike, slice-of-life narrative voice that is empathetic one moment and detached the next, which I found very clever, as it only makes the ending hit that much harder. there’s a comforting old-school vibe about this story that’s hard to describe, but it gives it such an unique tone. scoradh left the fandom before 2010, but many of her works are available on AO3, so I highly recommend diving into her full catalog.
ps: I’ll be skipping tomorrow’s prompt as I don’t listen to podfic but am excited to share others’ recommendations instead! see you in two days ;)

Earlier you were talking about icecreamgate. You said that’s a story for another time so can you elaborate please? I know was in the video but is there more to it?
Also please share about the flat situation! Sorry I’m so new to this fandom and feel like I missed a bunch!!
Dear Icecreamgate Anon,
Yes. At the Savannah (not Atlanta, and a heartfelt shoutout to wonderful @rosfrank, who gently corrected me and who was there to tell the tale) SCAD promo event, eagle-eyed shippers saw S helping himself from C's ice cream, using the same spoon.
This is legit documented and the picture (very clear) regularly does the rounds via reblogs.
Now I don't know about you, but I can tell you how it happens in here. Madame Mère and the man I love are the only people I share my spoon, thermos bottle or champagne glass with. I would rather die of dehydration in the Taklamakan Desert (see pic below) than do it any other way.
As for the rest of your question, let's make a deal, you and me: you studiously do your newbie mix and match information gathering tour on the blogs you like and you start connecting the dots by yourself. I am sure you are perfectly able. In return, I will answer all your specific questions in a very friendly, non-nonsense and dependable way. But let's make it very clear between us: don't expect me to regurgitate the Chronicles of Sam Roland and Caitríona Mary, because this is not going to happen. A day has only 24 hours and there are already people in line behind you.
That being said, I will say only this: Cleveden Drive, GLA. Coffee pics. Easter 2019. You go see out there: I promise it will be interesting.
Here's a pic of the camel I rode on in the Chinese Taklamakan desert, in 2010, while I was traveling by myself along the Silk Road. You're welcome to drop by anytime, here or in DMs.
PS: it was not fun, riding that camel. Unlike horses or elephants, she was distracted and irritated by fleas. And I had the impression of sitting on top of two jelly mounds. Disturbing.

Realistically the worst AA ships are the very uncomfortable hetero age gap ships that plagued 2010 era AA fandom. Blackquill/Athena, Phoenix/Maya, etc.
SPECIAL LOATHING SHOUTOUT to Ryuunosuke and Susato, that man is 23 and she is 16, I hate all cringefail hetero AA fans (including the games' writers)

I always love hearing about people’s fandom and reading/writer journeys especially since they usually involve some very cursed content and fun navigating ‘90’s and ‘00’s tech. Where did you start, what got you hooked, how have your tastes changed over the years, what made you decide to go from reader to writer? 💖
thank you for the ask, anon - and you’re correct that my experience was one of cursed 2000s technology, given that i started reading harry potter fanfiction via the twin madhouses of livejournal and fictionalley - nothing ever tagged beyond "lemon!!!1!" - on the family computer using dial-up internet.
[god bless the fact that the parents of my generation had no inclination to care about what we were consuming online - one of my brothers was a huge fan of rotten.com, and he's perfectly well-adjusted...]
my reading tastes were, initially, lord of the rings focused - i still think* about a particular elrohir/námo mandos fic which had me in chokehold when i was about fourteen - but i was as big a harry potter fan as anyone of my generation [shoutout in particular to one of my pals, who spent the entirety of a geography trip in 2006 speculating what the unknown horcruxes could be with me while we froze our bollocks off in some godforsaken bog in county antrim]. so it wasn’t a surprise, i suppose, that i was clicking on any fanfiction links i could find for that series too…
[the fic which has stayed with me most profoundly from those days was called something along the lines of murder at malfoy manor. it was on fictionalley and was this exceptional combination of the rules of cluedo and the ron-is-time-travelling dumbledore theory. it was incredible.]
but i wasn’t a writer. i was one of those science-y, not-like-other-girls teenagers who was performatively really cunty about other girls who liked to write little stories or draw little pictures, which i thought was fundamentally unserious. the fact that i was an avid consumer of these stories didn’t make me question what the fuck i was being such an arsehole about…
because i loved a bit of fanfic, and not only did i love fanfic but i demonstrably had a fandom presence and was clued up on fandom lore - i could quote my immortal, i knew what a snape-wife was, i was on a forum or two - although i went to great lengths to avoid anyone in my real life discovering that. and i do feel extremely proud of myself that i have a reputation among people i know for not having been particularly cringe as a teen [how little they know… i’ve just got a good poker face.]
i lost interest in harry potter when i went to university - i started uni in 2010, when it was still socially acceptable to be really into it, and i definitely went to my fair share of themed parties in the first couple of years, but by the time i graduated in 2016 [i did medicine, so it’s a six-year slog] i’d not opened the books, watched the films, or thought about the fandom in years. i remember rolling my eyes at the number of people i know who went to see cursed child when it first opened. bit cringe to be in your twenties and into harry potter, isn’t it?
[lol. lmao.]
but a global crisis changes things, i suppose.
like so many people, i got back into fandom during the coronavirus pandemic - although, regrettably, not because i was stuck in the house. i don’t think i’ll ever be able to accurately describe what it was like to work in a hospital in 2020, except to say that by the time i got home each day the only thing i could do other than stare blankly at a wall was lose myself in the comfort of media i knew well and its memories of a simpler time. and once i’d re-read the books a few times… well, it was only a matter of time before i was scrolling ao3 at 3am.
and, because my ego hasn’t changed even if my relationship with my own gender has, it did not take a lot to convince me that i could write stories which were just as good as the ones i was reading.
you can be the judge of whether i succeeded.
[*i’m being coy. i have it bookmarked on ao3]

today i will be showing everyone my GRAPHS. this is so that i can PROCRASTINATE FANFIC WRITING. thank you
GRAPH NUMBER ONE + DISCLAIMERS
Tumblr media
This is the top 10 doctor who ships in the doctor who ao3 tag by how many fics were written for each each year . notes:
ao3 is somewhat bad at dealing with ships that are secretly multiple ships in a trench coat, of which doctor who has many. This applies to -- doctor/river, doctor/rose, doctor/master, and ten/rose (as ten/rose also includes metacrisis ten/rose)
using doctor/rose as an example, in the dropdown for top relationships within a tag it will only show fics explicitly tagged with 'the doctor/rose tyler', meaning it gets listed as the 8th most popular ship, with ~1000 fics, whereas if you go to the doctor/rose tag itself (which i did for this graph) , it shows every fic filtered into the Group tag doctor/rose -- ie, things just tagged nine/rose, just tagged ten/rose, etc etc
i filtered these by DATE UPDATED and not date posted, because i cannot do the latter with ao3's search system
i also can't filter things by 'main relationship' in the fanfic
ao3 was founded in 2009, and gained popularity as the main fanfiction website through the 2010s, however, when you transfer a work from another site to ao3, ao3 will keep the date it was originally written, allowing for you to find works on ao3 posted earlier than 2009. i didn't count them in this graph because i didn't want to
i wish it was this easy to collect data on fanfic posted before ao3 was popular. im so sad about this genuinely
all of these disclaimers/data inaccuracies apply to the other graphs
GRAPH NUMBER TWO AND ALSO PERHAPS THREE:
thoschei graph. call that a real ship of theseus amirite
Tumblr media
sorry for that joke. ive already made that joke
shoutout to spydoc for going from 0 fics to roughly 700 in one year, throwing off my entire graph
something was in the water in 2020 doctor who fandom. that something was likely covid
left graph is the top ships, right graph includes the total for doctor master and a vague attempt to make a graph for the 'other' however i made that graph by going into the doctor master tag and filtering out all the ships id done graphs for, so it's pretty inaccurate data
GRAPHS NUMBER FIVE AND PERHAPS SIX
Tumblr media
as everyone in the doctor who fandom went collectively insane in the year 2020 i wanted to chronicle that.
left graph is the top ships in the tag, however this time i took out ships of theseus like doctor/master, doctor/river and doctor/rose
notable peaks. in jan-the 1st of march, doctor who was airing. in october nothing notable happened other than the usual fandom slew of -tobers (you know, flufftober, whumptober, etc). in december there were likely the usual gift exchanges
quarantine started around march for most people, marking the start of our collective descent into madness
and here i will give you a link to the actual spreadsheet with numbers

2011: Chiba Mamoru (Sailor Moon)
2009 & 2010: Kuchiki Rukia (Bleach)
Pre-2009: Who knows? My memory sure doesn't!
And I promised fun facts, so...
The early days...
The reason I can date my first fave to Rukia in 2009 is because that was when I made a Fanfiction.net account and posted my first fanfic. Don't read it I was young and foolish.
Bleach, Inuyasha, and Sailor Moon were my first animes. The first two I definitely watched on Adult Swim back when I still watched cable.
I used to be pretty skilled at self defense and even have a first degree black belt. One of the reasons why Ran from Detective Conan really left an impression on me.
There's a few unnamed faves that I also had from more obscure anime that were from so long ago that I can't pinpoint the exact years. A special shoutout to Asuka from Ask Dr. Rin! This show is in no way affiliated with Tohsaka Rin lol.
And yes, I do have male faves besides Mamoru! I love Hak and his constipated repressed feelings for Yona (Akatsuki no Yona) and my in-game name in FGO is inspired by Kurogane (Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles). And for whatever reason, Fred is my favorite from Scooby Doo.
Honestly, I have to give Elsa some credit. I think she started the trend of my faves being "blonde/light haired "regal" rich/well off BAMF ladies who seem cold and distant on the surface but are actually dorks over-burdened and forced to grow up too fast, with a dash (or a ton) of family angst dumped on them." I mean, do you see any of my past faves being blonde? xD
The college days...
I was in denial about being queer and swore I was straight until I somehow found Carmilla the Webseries (I don't even know how) during the summer of 2015 and had a multi-step process of acceptance that went something like "Oh the actress for Laura Hollis is hot. Oh the actress for Carmilla is cute, pretty, and a huge dork. Oh everyone is pretty attractive. Wait mostly just the girls. Wait is that why I don't give a shit about men?"
Little Witch Academia is not only the first series where I published fanfic on AO3, but it's also the series that got me to write AND finish longer stories. So congrats, Diana! I really wanted to angst you :D It's also the fandom where I found my closer Discord friends. Love y'all, mwah.
I think Revue Starlight might be the series that squeezed the most faves out of me. It holds a special place in my heart for numerous reasons, but the main one might be the collab fic I worked on with Quill, who is now my partner 😊So thanks, ReLive even if your gacha game is somehow even worse than FGO.
That said, the series I seem to always go back to seem to be the To aru and Fate franchises. Maybe it's because they're still ongoing.
Those two are also the reason I started messaging Quill back in the day, so they hold an extra special place in my heart. Even with all their flaws.
And then Lostbelt 6 hit FGO and blew everything out of the water. I rave about Morgan a lot but that chapter of the game truly had a stellar cast. Nasu wanted us to remember that he can cook lol.
Where is my Lostbelt 6 anime, Aniplex?

If I can be real for a moment…
Tumblr media
I feel like my involvement with Johnny Test as a franchise is basically over at this point. For those who’ve been with me for a long time now, this might come as a surprise that I’m finally letting go of what people have been referring to as Dexter’s Lab, but with whipcracks after all of these years, but there’s a lot that I wanna get off my chest about the state of the franchise, along with how things will go with my side of the situation going forth.
At this point, I’ve come to accept that Johnny Test, as a franchise, is likely going to stay dead in the water for real this time, especially with how the second season of the Netflix revival not only silently came out with barely any fanfare, but also became the final season, likely for good. I know a big chunk of the JT-related stuff was back when I was obsessed with the Vampire Twins to request art featuring them from multiple artists (Which is something that I deeply cringe at now, and fully regret for how stupid and childish that was. I apologize to everyone for that era), but in the last few years, I’ve been slowly making them more and more into their own thing, distant from what they were originally.
The Ultraverse V-Twins have changed a lot, with things like aging them up and changing their designs to reflect that, giving them more fleshed-out abilities and personalities, and overall just making them my own characters at this point. Don’t get me wrong, they still fit with my Primal Eternity idea, as that’s the one aspect of my JT stuff that I wanna keep around to somewhat of a degree. As for that project’s future? I could think of more ideas for characters and doodle them out, like I have before, or maybe I could take a small break from that project for a while. Im not sure. Regarding the bigger picture, I feel like/hoping to get some more work for it done after this break, before the franchise turns 20 next fall. We’ll just have to wait and see on what happens next. As for now, the V-Twins, while having a small connection to their origin franchise, will be their own thing going forward. Since they’re basically my own character after the series that they were based on is likely going to stay dead for good (which blows, but that’s just how it is), it’s the least I can do for them. In the meantime, Maryanna, now that she’s my mascot, is probably gonna be the hero of her own adventure. Time will tell on how her story will play out.
Regarding other things related to JT, I wanna give a quick shoutout to @rominadrawsart16 and @arti-squid. While they’re more active in the small JT fandom than I am, I love how they use character from the show to further their own skills as artists, similar to what I’ve been doing with Maryanna recently. If you haven’t already, please give them a visit.
And to give my thoughts on JT being dead and buried, I have a few conflicting thoughts. One part of me wishes WildBrain did more with the IP when making the Netflix revival, as alright as that was. Another feels like they should’ve go for a complete reboot to the franchise to start with a clean slate, and another feels like the series didn’t needed a revival in the first place, as shocking as they might sound. Unless the two seasons commissioned by Netflix were all that were planned, Johnny Test wasn’t really a show that needed to be brought back in the first place. After everything that had happened to it (The CW merger that caused the show to suffer budget cuts after Season 1, the infamy it got during the 2010’s due to how it became generic slop, etc), it feels like the show was basically doomed from the start. As much as I wanna go more into that with greater detail, that’ll be saved for another day.
So basically the short of what I’m trying to say is this; Johnny Test, as a franchise, is probably over for real this time, my involvement with it, outside of JTPE and supporting my friends, is (mostly) done, and the Ultraverse V-Twins (especially Maryanna) are here to stay.
See you, Space Whipcrack…

21. What frustrates you about the Hetalia fandom
6. Worst Historical takes
4. Best historical Hetalia takes
5. Best fandom interaction
22. Why did you start watching Hetalia
21. aaa not much, genuinely!! i'm super happy here :,) i do think there's a lot of,, rehashing of old points (u see a convo about whether the fandom is dying, whether this or that is problematic, etc etc) pop up all the time as if we haven't discussed it 4385774 times
6. oh mannn hard question!! there's a lot of meh ones, but i'll go for the portrayal of unions (the commonwealth, austria-hungary, denmark-norway), because so often they're made to seem a lot better than they would've been, oooor entirely horrible, when in reality it wasn't so black or white!
4. any time i see any "obscure" history facts about eastern or central europe i go insane!! i'm glad people have been paying more attention to feliks' friendship with hungary and ukraine since i rejoined the fandom too :D and i'm SUPER impressed when people create an in-depth interesting timeline of england's life, because i'm clueless about british history haha
5. fhdjf gonna be self-centered here but literally every time someone said smth about one of my fics :,) with the biggest shoutouts to lindonwald & sneakydraws who did fanart for something i wrote?? INSANE!! i've been in huge popular fandoms before with multiple fics over 5k hits and never gotten fanart, and i think it speaks volumes about how wonderful and sweet our little community is!! :)) <3
22. i don't remember 100% but i think when i was 12 i had a quotev account and hetalia quizzes were super popular on there! so i took them and i was like oh!! this looks fun, i'll watch it!! (fun fact, before i watched it i thought italy was a girl and he and germany were a canon couple, because of the early 2010s gerita art used in the quizzes which had super feminine italy LMAO)

Shoutout to all my girlies and not-girlies who were in the classic rock fandom/60s band fandom circa late 00s/early 2010s who really really hated Big Time Rush and One Direction without even really knowing any of their music just out of indignant anger at people calling them "the new Monkees" and "the new Beatles", only to now, over a decade on, look back on that time and realise how dumb that all was and how much there was never any reason to feel threatened in the first place!

thank u! im not sure what fandoms we share if any so i will be general as possible lol.
1. the character everyone gets wrong
literally any character who fights with their hands. off the top of my head & relevant to my interests, yang and vi. so many people write them as dumb jocks and that simply isnt true!!! ill usually deal with any epithets in fic, ive seen them all (shoutout to "snowette" once to describe weiss... i love early 2010s fic...), but if someone calls yang "the brawler" im closing that fucking tab immediately!!!
17. there should be more of this type of fic/art
LYRICSTUCKS. we should bring them back. i know there are AMVs and animatics but they arent the same.
25. common fandom complaint that you're sick of hearing

MUNDAY ASKS.
1 A.) Technically, this is a two part question because I started writing when I was like... ten. I started in SCHOOL, actually, in fourth grade. I wrote these DOG ass DBZ fanfics for show and tell, and a friend group formed a whole expanded universe for me. We made characters, wrote their stories, and drew comics. Not only was it the birth of my creative passion, but those friends would help me meet my brother, and their enthusiasm would lead me on to make my more prolific muses later down the line. I fostered my writing by making dog ass Doctor Who Minecraft videos with my friends. I still keep up with them, and our passion for writing is still at an all-time high.
1 B.) I started roleplaying when I was twelve. I joined tumblr back in early 2010 - 2012? I interacted a LOT with the Superwholock fandom and the Sonic fandom, as those were the most prolific fandoms on the platform at the time. Tumblr was a wasteland back then, and poor little Alex had no idea how to make any blogs or do any fancy artwork. I joined when ASK BLOGS were the biggest thing on the platform. Once Undertale got popular, I got roped into that fandom and by proxy some discord servers (as Discord was starting to become popular around that time).
17) This is a contentious topic. I have no idea who my FIRST muse REALLY WAS. I think it was The Doctor. I remember making them all their own seperate blogs that were interconnected because I had no idea you could do multimuse blogs when I was a wee shitlord. These versions are just... matured/refined versions of the Doctor's I made when I was a kid. I was super into Doctor Who when I started roleplaying, so I just kinda got easily absorbed into the fandom. I remember there was this guy who made a deadpool version of his muse, and he kept trying to send me Magic Anons that turned my Doctor's into canon versions (I DO NOT miss Magic Anons. Some of them lasted for months.) I remember young Alex being upset about being turned into canon Doctors. Made his feel unwanted. However!! Now I am god! I make the rules!!! No magic anons.
29) Complicated. I don't hate Doctor Who's current canon - it's just CONFUSING as all balls. I think I really just wanted to try something new, as I'd been writing just villains nonstop up to this point, and that got really bad for my mental health. I wanted to get back into the swing and do something that gave me a lot of creative freedom. I used to be group roleplays only, and that was hard for my mental health. There was a lot of drama and a lot of hate, and it was pretty cliquey. I decided I wanted to build my pipeline, but with a character I could really get into with it. Did I think I'd fall down the Genshin Rabbit hole??? No, but The Doctor has given me the opportunity to make all sorts of friends (shoutout to @kemikorosu @lunaetis @terestris, @verdantstride and all my muttuals for putting up with all my crazy time travel horseshit---) and I've never been happier with an RPC. It feels like I've crafted a really fun experience for myself by writing my own canon? Is it MESSY? Yeah. Is it fun as HELL?? For SURE. Doctor Who changes so much, and it's canon is fucking balls to the walls. In that chaos, I've crafted something really fun, and the friends I write with are what make me come back to this hellsite :>
36) I sure hope so. They're based on my own personal experiences. Every doctor here has been crafted and molded with inspiration taken from my own life. I feel like every character, whether it be canon or original - always had a tiny part of it's writer imbued within them, and for The Doctor - that's never been more relevant than with these five. How do you write these many Doctor's, who are ageless, emotional, and complicated individuals? Even some of The Time War, The Doctor's relationship with his people, family, and the ways his incarnations change? They're based and rooted in different stages and styles of anger, depression, warmth, recovery, and humor. I try to put a lot of what people tell me they enjoy about what I bring to a room. Of course, they're still heavily being playtested and actively developed-- but I like the friends and relationships they have so far--
37) Yes. The doctor is smart, and I am dumb. He's also like 5000 years old and can travel in time. He fought in a huge war and watched the universe burn. Also his personality changes like... every day. He's hard to keep up with. He's also an Alien. There's more I could list but Vee asked all the complicated questions and my brain juice is depleted.

Tumblr used to have kind of a War Of Use going on. either you were Fandom, or you were Aesthetic. It's difficult to really get across just how strong of a hold these two kinds of blogs had on the culture here. Fandoms are still a big draw on tumblr, but they were inescapably the thing you saw here back in the 2010s. and we were fully problematic, too; Homestuck, Hetalia, My Little Pony, Supernatural, Doctor Who, and BBC Sherlock were basically the big 6, with a VERY special shoutout to the Onceler Fandom, an offshoot of the cgi lorax fandom soley dedicated to remixing the onceler and shipping him with alternate universe versions of himself. this would occur again with undertale and the Sans fandom. due to the popularity of homestuck and hetalia occuring at the same time(and there being noticeable solidarity between the two), there was a period where one of the biggest fandoms on tumblr was... fandomstuck. where you make a humanization of your fandom, make an ask blog, and have them interact with other fandoms. it was glorious, it was cringe as fuck, and i miss it dearly. on a more serious note, sometime around the end of homestuck and the rise of steven universe, there was a noticable uptick in people who struggled to read media with nuance, thought liking a bad guy meant you were a bad person yourself, and generally could not keep these thoughts to themselves - harassment has always been a thing unfortunately, but the flame wars went from "your ship is dumb and stupid and mine is better" to "if you stan this main character you are an actual fascist and probably a pedo". at the time i thought this was bc queer people were desperate for good rep and tearing apart anything that might make them look bad, but now that i look back on it, i think that timing lines up with public schools becoming less and less able to teach accurate history and critical thinking. now we're at the point where simply being a fan of a very popular old show can get you accused of the worst crimes on earth because of one or two problematic elements. which would be less of a problem if it weren't for the mass harassment :/ stay safe, kids, and block liberally.
on the subject of old media, just some advice from someone who's been fandoming for 14 good years: any time you approach an older piece of media(like, pre-2020 and especially pre-2016), prepare yourself for some bigotry or other problematic stuff that was normalized at the time... and allow yourself to like it anyways. recognize that some people Enjoy the parts that really bother you, and that isn't always a bad thing. practice a be-and-let-be attitude, and don't let yourself leave nasty comments on the things that make you upset. save the hate for the senators; we're all just vibing here.
one last nugget o' the old times: the t-shirt post. there was this HUGE long post where various tumblr users investigated why girls and boys take their shirts off differently. turns out, it's because of the cut; girl cut shirts usually have tighter armpits and shorter torsos, so they're easier to peel. boys' shirts usually have lose sleeves and long torsos, so they're easier to tug over your head. use this knowledge wisely. also, the reblog button used to be at the TOP of a post, so if you wanted to subject your followers to it, you had to scroll aaaaall the way back to the top. i am almost certain that "do you love the color of the sky?" is the reason it was moved to the bottom.
I really can’t believe I’ve been on this hell site for 8 years

Pinned lmao
Hello! You can call me Aether :3 My pronouns are they/them primarily, but I also use he/him. I'm queer and make queer art.
I'm 21+, live in the U.S., and am married. Yes, my husband is my beta reader lmao, I love him sm
I'm nonbinary/transmasculine/genderfluid or some kind of bs like that. Labels are hard lmfao. Sense of self? We don't know her.
I write stuff. And things. Sometimes nsfw, but not all the time lol
Current works posted: 1 (not complete)
WIPs: 3
Fandoms I write for: Legends of Zelda / Original Links Meet AU, Sometimes Sorta Linked Universe, Marvel (sometimes, lol, the Deadpool and Wolverine brainrot has a vise-like grip on my brain rn and it's distracting me from other fandom...oof)
If you want to see me spew nonsense, just look for the tag aether yaps because I do a lot of yapping.
My works will be tagged as aether's stories.
I write both short and long form fiction. My AO3 handle is AetherWritesThings.
More randomness under the cut! (You can also find DNI related inquiries, more on fandom, and what kind of tags to block if you don't want to see certain types of works on my blog, as well as general content warnings for my non-adult/YA work.)
Backstory timeeeeeee
I've been writing fanfiction since the autism really started autisming back in 2010. Yeah, I've been writing fanfic for 14 years and I haven't had an AO3 until now. Sad innit lol (Also yes, I am actually autistic, amongst other brain problems lmfao) I started in a spiral bound notebook, writing Twilight Princess fanfiction by hand as a child.
I fell off the writing wagon in 2020, when my writing buddy and best friend ghosted me for being queer. Since then, I've done a lot of growing up, changing, and deep introspection. Besides learning how to handle my mental illness, I've also learned to take my time and enjoy the process of creation, rather than just slap something on a page and hate it for the rest of my existence. I've also learned that, sometimes, it's ok to put down the original work and just enjoy some self-indulgent fanworks sometimes!
I haven't gotten his permission to tag his account here, but my lovely beta reader is my very own husband, the only person in my life that I feel comfortable sharing my works with. (It's different if it's strangers on the internet or writing buddies, which I don't have anymore, lol) Shoutout to the hubby <3
I don't really do DNIs because I don't post anything that could be DNI-able. (And by that, I mean I will avoid posting or reblogging triggering or DNI-able content, such as political or deeply controversial content). Most of my works are intended for young adult audiences, but sometimes the ship brainrot seizes me and I make adult works as well. I will tag everything appropriately. If you don't want to see NSFW content, but still want to follow, feel free to just add jeepers that's smut to your blocked tags! That's what I'll tag any and all of my adult-themed works with!
I'm also gonna tag fandom as aether writes (insert fandom) so I can organize my work. For example, if I post a Zelda fic, I'll tag aether writes Legend of Zelda :)
General content warnings DO apply to my sfw content, so as I post / think of more, I'll add to the list here. Current Content Warnings / Trigger Warnings: violence, blood, medical procedures, emeto/vomit/illness (non-graphic, I am emetophobic lol), death, strong language
And some stuff just for fun!
I have two cats, both of them orange. They're so dumb <3. My favorite color is green. I have been in the Legends of Zelda fandom for going on 15 years now (I'm old). My favorite three Legends of Zelda games in descending order are Twilight Princess (ily Midna), Skyward Sword, and Wind Waker. I have also played Majora's Mask (ITS SO HARD), Ocarina of Time (screw the Water Temple fr), Phantom Hourglass, Hyrule Warriors, Breath of the Wild, and Tears of the Kingdom. I recently started Minish Cap and I adore it!
Feel free to message me or ask me stuff! I should be posting some writing soon, so be on the lookout for more silliness.
