I know "shounen" and "shoujo" just mean "for young boys" and "for young girls" respectively but don't the genres have different tropes associated with them? Everytime I see someone ask for a "shounen with women" people always respond with "you want shoujo" but aren't shoujos usually more like. romance/drama oriented while shounen is more action oriented. Idk I don't watch a lot of anime

i think that leather bags are so absolutely adorable. but i've been seeing leather bags around my social media feeds a TON lately and they've all been adorned with a lot of metal. me personally, i rly love the maximalist look that these purses have with all their charms and keychains and metal pieces.

LEOPARD PRINT ;

by far my absolute FAVORITE 2024 fashion trend bcuz to me, leopard print never EVER went away. its literally the best and its so CUNT. leopard print is not just a statement, like u can make it work as an outfit in itself. and idk it just radiates confidence and video vixen vibes and im absolutely living for that.

CINCHING THE WAIST ;

i love cinching my waist when wearing dresses that dont automatically mold to my body. ofc it depends on the type of dress and the look that im going for but i LOVE to show off my figure with cinching my waist so im loving this fashion trend.

i also think its rly interesting when the belt ur using to cinch ur waist is on the larger side, like those BIG belts, thats so so cute. and to me it just gives a rly boho vibe which is also trending in 2024 according to one of my main sources. its so fall and i can't wait to keep doing it.

i've seen this EVERYWHERE and i love it. it looks like a jellyfish kind of and its giving JELLYFISH PRINCESS. not only does it add dimension to the clothing and to the outfit as a whole, but it does so while still maintaining the soft look. some pieces on my wishlist that incorporate the ruffles on clothing trend are shown below.

recent manga diary

- okay starting to read love bullet now.. the art honestly looks incredible im totally digging the art style 👁👁

- speaking of yuri im also reading erio and the electric doll. this is the new manga ive read the most of recently. it's a bit like kino's journey, mixed with yokohama kaidashi kikou, and pluto (naoki urasawa, and by extension, astro boy too). it tells of a post-war world in which androids destroyed a large chunk of humanity. because of that, people have taken to regressing to a pre-electricity world - into the world of steam. two girls walk away from their idyllic, albeit isolated life by the coast, in search of finding other humans and travel the world together. it has some really interesting world building and discusses some morally grey topics regarding humanity, war, and artificial intelligence.

- you might know the artist as the one who did a lot of work for final fantasy 14. the art is beautiful, with delicate linework, and a prominent steampunk aesthetic.

- going back to the yuri part - the main cast consists of a young teen and an android. the human girl has the power to create electricity, and so she charges her android by kissing her. they can charge via touching hands, but no they have to kiss. very cute.. i hyped it up but LMAO i don't know if i can recommend it for romance per se, as it's more platonic right now, but it's still a very charming read!

- i think this series would look so gorgeous if it came to life in an anime adaptation.. manifesting a steampunk anime in 2k25

- also started to read kageki shoujo, it's really fun so far!! those are my only thoughts on it for now. i haven't read a shoujo in so long i think.. might have to watch the anime adaptation as well, as i heard the animation is quite good.

- i also wanted to get into requiem of the rose king for the longest time, the brooding, gothic aesthetic totally looks up my alley, and the medieval politics looks interesting too. the pacing is a bit choppy, but idk if that's due to the poor fan translation, will have to source it from the library if i can..

- still catching up to medalist and shadows house, haven't read witch hat atelier in a while.

- caught up to skip and loafer 🥰 i wrote about it in some older diary entries, but it's literally so good. i really need to draw some skip loaf sometime..

- almost done the extra stories from emma.. and that's all folks!!

Hey! Since you mentioned "Soul Eater" before, can I ask what you think about it? From the anime, from the manga (if you read it), the powers, the story in general, the ships, the chops, the humor, etc.

The anime was stunning! I love that it managed to translate the gothic but campy vibe the manga had. The soundtrack was insane too. I used to be so obsessed with Paper Moon and the second ED. Even the character OSTs like Kidd's theme and BlackStar's theme were really good, even if the lyrics didn't make a lot of sense.

The character designs and powers/fighting style for each character was soooo cool btw. The aesthetic for this whole show was just so good. Like. If Tim Burton and Doctor Seuss went and collaborated on an anime idk what I'm saying.

And the animation for the fight scenes were just mesmerizing. Bones(the animation studio) are just real damn good at what they do.

Seeing Maka fight with that giant scythe changed my life. At the time shounen rather than shoujo/slice of life anime were my thing. It was my first time seeing a female main protag for a shounen anime, that was probably one of the reasons I was as obsessed with the show as I was. I saw myself in maka for many reasons, i loved her a lot.

I had my gripes with the anime. Like. The ending was a lil weird with how they defeated Asura, but I did love that it had Maka also be a weapon. Also the fact that Crona was alive and well by the end is a nice bonus.

I vividly remember being obsessed with this scene in particular. I had such a huge crush on them lmao

Also not to like out my cringey 12 yo self, but I used to ship Crona/Kidd. Looking back it's so funny.

Soul/Maka is still one of my favorites anime ships ever tho. Ships that start off being besties that gradually turn romantic are just always gonna be my favorite i guess

Also just... Soul's dedication to always keep Maka safe was so dang sweet??? He'd catch a sword on the chest for her. He'd break her fall for her. He'd really do anything for her. Like damn...

As for the manga, yes I did read it! I think it ended when I was in high school? I followed the manga as it updated along with other mangas like Pandora Hearts and Reborn etc. Soul Eater was the only shounen I finished reading (Unless PH counts as shounen. I don't think it does...).

The direction it went with was so painful. Crona leaving Maka and going back to Medusa was my NaruSaku fallout istg. It sucks that things didn't end happily for Crona in the manga, but I still enjoyed the journey it put me through. As dark as it was, the chapter where Crona finally kills Medusa was kinda cathartic.

And although the manga didn't have weapon!Maka, i like the upgrade when she honed the abilities of her grigori soul. Maka riding scythe!Soul like Cardcaptor Sakura with her magic staff was so cool. And the way she had Soul's blade turn into piano keys and turned the black blood into a dress was kinda badass. I wish we get to see these in reboot FMA brotherhood style someday

The humor was great. My brothers and I still quote/reference a lot of the funny stuff from it. I just wish it wasn't one of those animes that can get so pervy to the point it's uncomfortable....

Anyways, loved it a lot. Sorry I probably could have talked about Kidd and BlackStar too and I love them, but this reply would be a lot longer than i have the energy to do lol. They're popular anyways. This show had one of the best female anime characters in Maka and it will probably always have a special place in my heart.

Lady Oscar Fracois de Jarjayes (Rose of Versailles) vs Lady Maria (Bloodborne)

She is the commander of the royal guard of the Versailles Palace, also the bodyguard of the Queen Marie Antoniette, she has a thin sword and excels with it to the point that one of the first plot points is how she can defeat any man while also embracing being a woman; I love her and she gets all the ladies at court flustered, very gnc character she is described both as handsome and beautiful and she is so cool and techaes another girl to fight with swords and she cucks the monarchy when discivering the inequality outside the palace :v idk i just think she is iconic

I'll argue that Lady Oscar is *the* pioneer for sword women in shoujo anime, she walked so Utena could run, and inspired a bunch of other anime outside the demographic, like Beserk. TLDR Lady Oscar is one of the best female leads with a sword; She's hot. I feel like the 70's-80's era of anime is often neglected. Swords. I'll be surprised if no one else nominates Rose of Versailles.

If you think Utena is swordy, this woman INSPIRED her creation. She’s badass and better than everyone at the sword; Everyone is in love with her. And I mean EVERYONE. Also, Rococo aesthetic and gorgeous artwork, AND she’s a big BIG deal in early shoujo and still is.

Finally, she starts off the boss fight with this quote: "A corpse, should be left well alone. Oh, I know very well how the secrets beckon so sweetly. Only an honest death will cure you now. Liberate you from your wild curiosity."She fights with a sick twin bladed sword which can split into two smaller swords, She was too hard and I couldn't beat her :'(Duel wielding sword and dagger that combine as a twin blade; Best boss in the game. Also taller than your character by a full head. Her outfit is fashion as fuck as well.

Yknow sometimes I legit feel surprise that people ship SasuSaku?like actual SS from Boruto? Actually ship them???

That show which made the two main characters whose entire thing was bonds and family into deadbeat dads? Where the character who’s entire story line centered around family and loyalty barely acknowledges that he has a kid? And SS? Really? Who are you torturing more, Sasuke for being in a relationship with a woman who never respected him, or Sakura the woman who pursued a man who never loved her or saw her pursuit as anything but annoying?

Although I guess it does make sense that the show ‘canon’ which completely butchers the OG characters is where SS and NH could possibly be shipped. And honestly if people wanna ship a pink-haired and black-haired character for the aesthetic there are plenty of shoujo manga around. Actual good ones too! Go read Survive as the Hero’s Wife, I guarantee they actually love each other.

it's almost as if they don't care about the characters themselves (mainly sasuke) and only care about the ship (mainly sakura getting what she wants, every self-inserters dream).

what's more surprising to me is the people that ship ss and twist the narrative and make stuff up. i still recall a ss shipper saying that sasuke developed his sharingan in vote1 cuz he was pushed passed his physical limits as opposed to. you know. his emotions. so much for understanding sasuke's character amirite. I've gotten another ss shipper in my inbox saying they read tons of ss fanfics, kinda implying that's the reason they ship them really. idk people are free to ship whoever but idk why they're in my inbox. I've never gotten a ss or nh shipper look at one of my posts and be like 'I don't agree with this cuz of x, y, z'. it's usually just harassment or comments like 'u ship sns u probs ship bakudek*' or 'don't hate on hinata uwu' or 'hetsuden is canon' and most recently 'why do you hate women' 😂
