“I hope you’re paying attention Mk, one day you’ll have your own cloud to fix up.”
I think a great visual gag would be that wukong’s cloud has like a hatch that opens for repairs
funnier yet if the cloud doesn’t actually need to get repairs
it’s just that wukong wanted to freak Mk out by making him hold a flashlight as Wukong messed around with fake cloud gears

Ok, so, idk if I missed the character limit so I'm sorry if it's too much, I also don't want to put any pressure on you either!
So! What if reader was half human half dragon? (I mean like, How to train your dragon kinda dragon)
Where they can either be human, half human/dragon (like, walking on their legs but being a bit taller than before, having scales instead of skin, wings and tail) and full dragon form (like toothless)
(I apologize if it's too complicated 😭)
Reader: gender neutral
Characters (romantic hc): Sun Wukong, Macaque and MK? (Maybe Mei Mei too if it's not pushing it)
Again, no pressure, and if it's too much I'll understand! Have a lovely day :D
Mei, MK, Wukong and Macaque with a dragon hybrid reader

can I request Wukong, macaque and mk (separate) having a lovely make out with their s/o before going to bed? They're basically giving a small 'gift' for their s/o 💕
reader is female !
Wukong, Macaque, and MK Make-Out Session With S/O
(CW: Includes suggestive content!)
Wukong:
Tumblr media
“Hey peaches, have you seen the straws– mmph?!”
Wukong was interrupted by getting glasses of water before bed when you both accidentally turned around at the same time and kissed on accident.
His arms wrapped around your waist as you both leaned into the accidental kiss, your own arms wrapping around his neck as you stood on your toes to better reach him.
You felt your body lift off the ground as he hoisted you up onto the kitchen counter, your lips still connected as you both released soft moans into the kiss.
His claws brushed against your thighs as he held onto your hips, tracing invisible lines across them as you two made out.
“Hmm..” He hummed into the kiss as you both pulled away every few seconds for air before going right back to the deed.
The kisses were long and sweet, like he was intentionally being gentle with you so as to not ruin the moment.
You wrapped your legs around his waist as a sign to pull you closer to him which he happily complied, his hands wrapping around your waist as he pulled your body to the edge of the counter before kissing you deeper.
His tongue slipped between your lips as it hungrily wrapped around your own, huffs and groans escaped the both of you in unison.
You both pulled away at the same time, softly gasping for air as you whined for more.
This made him softly laugh as he grinned, “Hungry for more of the Monkey King eh?”
You groaned at his quip, “Shut uupp…”
He laughed some more as he picked you up off the counter, your legs still wrapped around his waist as you two finally went to bed.
Macaque:
Tumblr media
It was currently way passed the time you were supposed to fall asleep if you wanted proper rest for work the next morning.
Scrolling through whatever social media page you decided to waste your time on tonight, you sighed as you further fell down into the vicious cycle.
You set your phone screen down on the mattress and rolled over onto your back, rubbing your temple as you stared up at the rotating fan above you.
“Up late sweet cheeks?” A voice called out to you from the shadows, your boyfriend emerging from a portal above your bed as he grinned down at you.
He leaned down as he pecked you on the lips, letting himself fall next to you on the bed.
“What’s wrong dollface, can’t sleep?” He wrapped his arms around you as he spooned you.
You nod, “Mhm, just having a bit of trouble tonight…”
He grinned as he playfully pinned you to the bed, smirking down at you as he leaned into your face.
Despite him playing around, he was still pretty strong as you couldn’t really move.
“I can think of something to make you tired, if you’re up for it that is?”
Your face flushed as you nodded, making him chuckle as he pressed his lips gently against your own.
“Still flustered after all this time sugarplum? I thought you would be at least used to this by now.” He pulled away for a few seconds to tease you as he kissed you over and over.
You wrapped your arms around him to bring him closer to you, making him lay on top of you on the bed.
His tail wrapped around your leg to keep his balance as the two of you made out, pulling away every few seconds for short breaths.
“So… gorgeous… Every single thing about you…” He muttered in between kisses, his hands caressing your sides as they traced down to your hips.
You could feel the end of his tail caress your thigh, making you moan softly into the kiss which made him grin.
“Eager are we?” He teased you more, making you pout as he pulled away from your mouth.
He was caught off guard when you reached your hand to cup his cheeks, pulling him back to kissing you.
His eyes widened until he leaned back into the kiss, pulling away after a few more seconds.
He chuckled once more as caressed your cheek with the end of his fingers, “Bet you’re tired now huh?”
You nodded, reaching your arms out for him as a signal to lay down with you.
He happily obliged as he took you in his arms and used his shadow magic to close the curtains to the window that was letting the moonlight in.
“Goodnight hon.” he kissed your temple as you quickly fell asleep.
MK:
Tumblr media
“Yeah, I won!” You cheered as your boyfriend whined next to you.
“Awww what! No fair, I was so close!” MK playfully pouted as you laughed softly at his reaction.
“Face it MK, I’m just better at this game!” You pointed at him with the game controller, of course, he knew you were joking.
“Yeah yeah, you just got lucky (Name). I’ll get ya’ next time!” He grinned and wrapped his arms around your shoulders.
You laid your head on his shoulder as you smiled slyly up at him, “Now about my prize?…”
“There was a prize? And I lost?!”
He gripped the sides of his head as he looked at you distraught.
You laughed at his reaction as you nodded, “Yep! Now pay up whatever you can think of!”
MK thought for a second, a lightbulb going off in his head as he grabbed you by your hands and gently pressed his lips against yours.
You were surprised at first, but quickly kissed back as you felt his fingers intertwined between yours.
The kisses were quite short, but oh so sweet. He let out little ‘mwah’ sounds every time he pulled away from your lips for air.
He planted kisses all over your face as an act of pure adoration, pulling away and smiling at your love-sick expression.
“Well, we should be getting to bed. Did you like your prize honey bun?”
You laughed softly as you planted a small kiss on his lips, “You dork, of course I did.”

Mechanic Wukong and Street Artist Macaque with a poly reader
Artists: pedrinho_lmk (left) and @scotchy-pie-art (right)
Tumblr media
Mechanic Sun Wukong
Originally met you when your car broke down for seemingly no reason on your way to work and called a tow company that took your car into his shop. Wukong’s always been a morning person, even though he loves sleeping in, so he’s working down his list of chores with a white tank top covered in spots of grease and oil.
Wukong usually has his hair pulled back and will ask you to tie his fluffy ginger hair back so it doesn’t get caught in any car parts or dirty from oil. Loudly purrs when you comb through his mane, carefully detangling knots and cleaning any bits of dirt or grit.
Whenever you have a day off to stop by the shop he’ll purposely wipe off anything on his face with his tank top which shows bits of his bare stomach. He’ll use any and every excuse to take off his shirt, saying it’s too hot out or he doesn’t want to ruin his clothing which is already covered in oil and grease.
Wukong’s very strong already from training but his job only enhances that because cars are a couple of tons and he has a habit of sticking part of his tongue out when he’s focused which makes your mind wander.
A good part about your mate being a mechanic in addition to being the great sage is that with his powers he can find the issue with the vehicle quickly with the help of his eyes of truth which helps him end the day early a lot of the time and lets him get back to you earlier than usual.
You both love it when he throws and catches you in the air or carries you in an absurd but secure position partially to show off to others and you. You love it because it gives you butterflies and you’re never scared he’s going to drop you because he cares so much for you and he’s not that much of an airhead when it comes to you.
He's a great multitasker cause he can use his tail which comes in hand for both working and at home ;) Unfortunately, it is usually used for the various colors of paint splattered on a car, sometimes in a design or pattern, while his main focus is the engine or undercarriage.
Street Artist Macaque
Speaking of paint, Macaque is a well-known street artist who only leaves a special signature of his and so because of that he doesn’t have to worry about being recognized or harassed by police. All of his work is done with passion and originality, very rarely his art is on private property or people’s belongings and some are inspired by things he’s seen or people that are interesting to him (i.e. you).
However, a fair amount of his work is purposely painted on cars because he knows Wukong’s probably going to be the one to deal with it and adores the groans of agony from his frenemy. You’re kind of disappointed at his smug grin whenever Wukong throws a wrench or whatever is in reach of him at your boyfriend who partially deserves it and shouts an apology to the mechanic who greets you kindly.
He first met you when he was spray painting a unique design about a recent protest to raise awareness in his special way on a sidewall of a coffee shop when you walked out to take out the trash and saw him floating mid-spray as your eyes met his golden ones. You turned your head to call for your manager but got silenced by Macaque’s hand covering your mouth and gave him 2 minutes to explain, long story short you both intrigued each other and started to have dates discussing both of your jobs. Mainly he doesn’t solely rely on his work as an artist but also as a performer and combat instructor.
He does adore it when you sneak out with him to help with his art or to provide company as he paints although he’d much prefer you get a healthy amount of sleep each night even if he feels a bit lonely without you. Your health is a priority to him but if it’s during the day and in a more discreet place whether alleyway or back of the building he’ll bring you with him, often taking breaks to eat lunch while you both talk about certain aspects of that design that could be improved or highlighted.
You’re well aware of his artistic gifts because of the looks he gives you before you leave or anytime you’re near a work of his art and usually the crowd surrounding the artwork gives it away as well. It’s never expressed obviously that it’s you in the piece of art because if it was then you might be questioned about the identity of the rogue artist who is secretly your boyfriend and Macaque wouldn’t want that ever. So a lot of them have the symbolism of you and what he loves about you, some of them having somewhat clear images of your face if you squint and those are personally his favorites.
He assures you he’s very good at remaining hidden when doing his “illegal” street art because of his advanced hearing shadow powers so with both it’s very easy to make a quick escape if he hears the police or sees something that’d get him caught. It also comes in handy when you’re out with him if he’s ever in danger or if someone attacks since it means he can get you out of there quickly. This goes the same for if you run into trouble with him at night since you have self-defense and your boyfriend has helped by giving you tips on how to improve. He’s going to prioritize you if anything happens despite any claims from you and he won’t let anything hurt you regardless if it’s to get back at him or not.
Mechanic Sun Wukong + Street Artist Macaque (poly)
Surprise surprise you met both of them when they were trying to spite one another which as one could guess is when Macaque was trying to get back at Wukong so he spray-painted your car with a crude design and so you had to forget heading to work. That led you to Wukong’s repair shop and saw the very annoyed look on his face when he saw the trouble you were facing, especially since you both found the other very attractive eventually when he was able to remove the paint you both exchanged numbers. He threw out some obvious flirts about how beautiful you were and you couldn’t ignore how he was shirtless surely because of how hot it was showing off how toned and gorgeous he was.
Macaque however followed his “victim” through their shadow and relished in the annoyance he saw he gave the king, turning to see the no-doubt pain on his victim’s face only to see your divine face twisted in a frown and now regretting defacing your car. On the one hand, he was glad he met you but on the other, he already ruined your day and you seemed like a nice person. The fact that Wukong flirted with you only made him annoyed and he already wanted to know you more (after he apologized first of course), spiting him by becoming closer to you was a bonus now since he’d already planned to ask you out and now he had the perfect introduction planned. Shortly after you got out of work, he popped up beside your car and apologized in his own special way, flirting with you with a smirk proudly on his face and genuinely apologizing before getting your number.
Both of them ended up finding out they were attempting to date you and only tried to one-up each other in terms of winning your heart, making it a bit too obvious that you were the center of their affections and trying to make help understand you loved them both. You were able to get them both inside your apartment and sit them down to say that you loved them both dearly and couldn’t choose, all of you agreeing to a polyamorous relationship and ending the night in cuddles.
In your free time, you can often find both of your boyfriends playing their silly game of back and forth which leads to a repeated war of the whole thing. Meanwhile, all you want is to just be cuddled and not pay for excess repairs if it’s your car even with your boyfriend doing it free of cost. It takes little to convince them to give up their squabbles and give each of them kisses or any kind of affection and they’ll melt into your hands. Both of them will protect you from any harm (whether it’s from police from Mac’s illegal art or enemies who want to use you to get to Wukong) and it’s one of the few things there’s never any arguing on, focusing on your safety and taking care of the threat while the other makes sure you’re alright or hidden.

HIIII, could you write a short fic about Wukong x Macaque x afab reader (cause reader would most likely be the one to get pregnant except if one of the other two would shapeshift but idk)
basically debating or not if they should have kids? like one is on the fence, the other is totally for it and one has literally never thought about that before 😭 (just chaotic ASF)
please with whipped cream and a cherry on top !! and if not it's ok :3
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pairing: Wukong x afab!Reader x Macaque Rating: SFW-ish Summary: Getting ready for bed leads to a discussion about a potential next step in your relationship with your partners.  Warnings/Tags: Wukong himself is a warning, suggestive themes but not very explicit, chaotic, fluff, typical arguments of you know who, topics of pregnancy and children. Word Count: 1900+ words
Tumblr media
You ducked your head and spat the remains of toothpaste and spit into the sink bowl, only to raise your head to face your reflection in the mirror. You glanced over your face to make sure there was no trace of toothpaste left before turning the faucet off and placing your toothbrush in the nearby cup along with two brushes within it.
You hadn't even taken two steps inside your shared bedroom before hearing the hushed whispers between your lovers—it was a rare sight to see both monkey's in the same bed. Both were wearing the pajamas you specifically bought for nights like these—where the three of you had enough time to spend it together, even if that meant just sleeping within each other's vicinity.
Macaque wore a two-piece pajama set; a t-shirt with dark purple pants that had stars littering the pant legs. Wukong had a brighter nightgown with a sun symbol knitted on the chest area, a nightcap, and insisted on getting the eye mask with realistic eye designs on them.
Although these peaceful night's weren't always…peaceful. That was to be expected.
Macaque's smirking scowl and Wukong's frown gave you enough hints to know that whatever they were talking about was something semi-serious. You cleared your throat before giggling at the sigh of them scrambling to look like they hadn't finished a heated debate for the past five minutes.
You crawled onto the bed and laid within the free space between them. Wukong turned to face you as did Macaque. The latter brought the blankets up to cover all three of you before the lights were turned off.
Soft, slow exhales filled the silence. You were ambushed by the warmth on both of your sides, Macaque's arm possessively thrown over your torso and Wukong's tail snaked around your leg as he held your bicep gently.
Your eyes stared at the ceiling above, recalling the events of the day as your breathing slowed with every fleeting memory. Your vision blurred before the darkness consumed your thoughts and you began to lose feeling in your fingers. The heavy, comfortable weight of exhaustion finally had its hold on you.
"...?"
Your eyes fluttered open as you lazily turned to the monkey who had called your name ever so gently, as if afraid of startling you awake. You found a pair of pretty golden eyes staring back at you in the dark, the sight causing you to hum–urging him to continue. Beside you, the hand on your bicep squeezed lightly as Wukong tensed up.
"Macaque…" Wukong's warning tone woke up a bit. The confusion added with the sudden tension that settled in the room made you nervous.
"Huh?" You were left even more gobsmacked than before. Perhaps you didn't hear him right. "Do I want…lids?"
"Do you want kids?"
"No, no, sweet stuff." Macaque kissed the side of your head, his words tickling your earlobe as he murmured into your ear. "Kids. Do you want them?"
"Where is this coming from?"
"Yeah, we'd looove to know," Wukong drawled as he sat up, his eyes narrowing at his dark-furred counterpart. "It's not like some of us have to wake up early tomorrow, oh noooo, let's drop an entire mountain of a topic on us and not sleep for the rest of the night."
Macaque clicked his tongue as he rolled his eyes, "You're exaggerating."
"Exaggerating?! You're the one who-!"
"-guys, guys, calm down," Your sharp voice silenced the two as you moved to sit up with Wukong. The aforementioned simian clamped his trap shut as he laid his head against your shoulder, Macaque was the only one still laying—his arm now stroking shapes on your belly. "Mac, babe, is this a actual question or are you just horny-"
 "Serious." Macaque interjected.
"-Alright," You sighed as you rolled your head on your shoulders. You mumbled a quick apology to Wukong as your head bumped against his. "Guess we're doing this now…my honest answer? I dunno, never really gave kids a lot of thought…what about you guys?"
"Kids are okay," Wukong admitted. "I mean, look at MK, he's great and all…but a baby? Raising an actual child is a lot more difficult than one might think."
"Like you know anything about raising a child," Macaque snickered as he peeked around your body to smirk as Wukong sent a heated glare his way. "I know it might be difficult for most people to actually be responsible, but for me? I could take such good care of our child, sugarplum."
Macaque continued. His hand ran up and down your thigh as he slowly rose to lay most of his weight against you. Your brow rose in amusement at the glint shimmering in Macaque's eye. "Think about how cute they would be, our mini me running around the house and-"
"-...causing a mess, like a certain troublemaker I know," Wukong interrupted. "Look, hun, I would love nothing more for OUR-" Macaque didn't have time to react before you were yanked out of his hold and pulled into the king's lap. "-kid to exist, but aren't MK and Mei enough right now? Heh-...I mean, think about how much they are…like imagine me but smaller, cuter, and ten times more-"
"-smellier? Yeah, what a nightmare that'd be," Macaque grabbed you by your ankles. You squealed before laughing as you were pulled underneath Macaque, who hovered over you with his hands groping the meat of your thighs. Macaque grinned wildly as he leaned down, "If he thinks having a kid is too much for him, then he won't have to worry about that for a couple of months since you'll be having my kid first."
"Slow down, tall, dark and handsome…you haven't even taken me to dinner yet," You teased as you reached up to caress the side of his face.
Macaque's content filled sigh sounded heavenly as he melted against your touch—such affection that could leave him in that weakened and vulnerable state. Macaque nuzzled his cheek into the softness of your palm.
Wukong's face scrunched up at this display before he slapped his hand over Macaque's face and pushed him out of your frame of view. He too began hovering over your laid form while he hissed at Macaque, "Who said you'll be having the baby first? This is a joint decision between all of us! Don't be selfish, bud."
Macaque chuckled as he swatted Wukong's hand away, "You seem pretty against the idea of having a kid, no point in involving you since you won't be the one carrying."
"Psh, well, who would want a kid now of all time or with you? We just got finished with the whole end-of-the-universe situation and barely had a break since and you want a kid now?!" Wukong threw his arms in the air.
"Is there going to be another chance for us–all of us–to be together like this? I dunno, before another disaster starts again? You know just as much as me that this 'calm before the storm' is not going to last forever," Macaque snapped back. "And I much rather spend that time knowing I'm doing everything I've ever wanted to do with them, and what does that say about you? Oh right, always the one to hide away and never confront his problems, typical Wukong—thinking only about himself and his interests."
"Ha! my 'interests' are what keeps us safe and thinking rationally! Obviously that means 'm the more responsible one here!" Wukong bared his teeth, his tail swishing behind him in short, swift bursts.
"That's a first, congratulations."
"Oh, you pretentious fuck-"
Before you could stop them, hisses and snarls were unleashed as Wukong launched himself at Macaque and tackled him off of the bed. You rolled onto your stomach and pulled yourself to peer over the edge to watch the two of them duke it out. You rested your face in your hand half-relieved that they were 'play' fighting instead of actually tearing each other's throats out. You winced as Wukong put Macaque in a headlock, but Macaque managed to escape long enough to flip their positions. You ducked just in time as Wukong's nightcap flew past your head.
"Hey! Watch it!" You spoke, but your words fell on deaf ears as Macaque got pinned for the nth time with Wukong's hands squeezing at his throat.
It was safe to say the argument wasn't over even when they continued to tumble around on the carpet.
"-and you're only thinking with that tiny thing between your legs-"
"Oh? That tiny thing that had you choking so hard you were cu-"
"-GUYS!"
The two monkeys stopped and turned their heads to stare at your unimpressed face, Wukong's nightcap hanging loosely from your index finger. Sheepishly, the two crawled off of each other and knelt before you. You leaned forward and placed Wukong's cap back on before rubbing the underside of his chin, the king's face turned to mush as he was left leaning forward when you pulled your hand away to run it through Macaque's hair.
"Look, I see both sides. I get that we might not have enough time as we do now, but there's no need to rush something so…important." You admitted, your eyes straining in the dark to carefully observe their expressions.
Macaque's eyes strayed from yours as Wukong's chest slightly puffed out. A sigh left your lips while your rehearsal of playing mediator for both sides ran in your mind. "I'm happy that you're ready to participate in such a big commitment with us, Macaque, but right now? Everything is fine and we definitely need to talk more about this than just deciding to have kids without a proper discussion-"
"HA-!"
"-but, on the off chance that something does happen then I'm not entirely against having a child right now." The corner of your lip twitched upward as Wukong deflated. It was Macaque's turn to stare smugly at Wukong.
You shook your head and slipped off of the edge of the bed to sit before the two, wrapping your arms around each of their heads as you brought them close to rest your head against theirs. "Wukong, I need you to know that even if we aren't ready for such a responsibility right now, at least we'll have each other…right? And when have you ever shied away from the chance to be irresponsible?"
Wukong let out a breathless chuckle as Macaque snort made your grin stretch.
"This is…different."
"Yes, it can be scary and something we'll never be ready for…but I'll be glad knowing I'm doing it with you two," You lowered your hands from their head to their cheeks and planted a kiss on Wukong's nose before turning to peck Macaque's temple. Wukong lurched forward to pepper your cheek in kisses as Macaque grabbed a hold of your retreating hand to kiss each knuckle.
The sweet and tender moment broke as you wiggled from their kisses to ask, "So…are you two gonna kiss and make up now?"
Wukong and Macaque blinked at you before turning to meet each other's bewildered gazes.
"Over my dead body," Macaque teased as he grabbed a hold of Wukong's nightgown in his fist.
"Hmph, that can be arranged again," Wukong taunted as he pushed his forehead against Macaque's.
You simply watched on as they began to aggressively hug it out.
What a sight to behold before bed.

Mother~Mother River – Short Fic
Chapter #1 - Mother-Mother River
!Not connected to Cursed Warlords Au! This shall henceforth be known as the Mother AU, for obvious reasons. Just under 8,000 words, damn I did not think it would get this long. Oh well hope y’all enjoy!
The group passes by the mother-mother river. Macaque has to fight with himself out of making a terrible decision. Wukong, however, has other plans when he hears the nature of the plan. You are oblivious to their scheming. Believing they see you as a friend.
How terribly wrong you are.
>>>>>
“Wow, what a surprise. Another… fucking RIVER!” Wukong yelled kicking his feet angrily.
Wukong stared at the damned water with anger in his red rimmed golden eyes. His golden fur was not meant to be wet, it was meant to be properly groomed, he hated when river water soaked it. He was a STONE monkey one who sank, so as soon as he saw the water of course his anger spiked. His tail snapped to the ground, a single golden band that was wrapped around it dented the ground from the strike.
He could barely believe he was still on this stupid mission. He should just go back home back to his people. There was no reason to stay-
“Wukong please calm down,” Your voice spoke up, your ever beautiful voice. The group had just gotten him to rejoin the journey and you really didn’t want him running off again.
Oh, that’s right. Wukong stared at you for a moment before huffing, you were the reason they were staying. If it hadn’t been for your damned shield than they could have simply taken you back to Flower Fruit Mountain without having to stay. It would be easy, so easy to just grab you and take you back to Flower Fruit Mountain where you could live happily and peacefully.
A slight ache in his head reminded him of the other reason that he didn’t wish to think about. The circlet had made itself very well known on his head. The dull aches it caused were annoying and honestly he wished for nothing more than to rip the thing off. However he knew that it didn’t work that way, not even close.
The feeling of warm, gentle hands rested on his head and he all but purred as you gently rubbed the edge of the band. The phoenix stone that hung from your ear, while an annoying thing was useful at times. And when you used the healing ability it had it felt absolutely heavenly. He almost whined when you took your hand away.
“You feel better?” You asked with a gentle smile.
He let out an exaggerated sigh as he followed closely behind you. You looked back to see him nod and you continued on your way. He should have just trapped you on the mountain the last time you came over. Your shield was unable to move so it wouldn’t have helped you much. Besides you would have gotten over the Monk’s death eventually. The thought crossed his mind again, it was such a lovely dream. Unfortunately one that would have to wait until he found a way to break the damned shield. A way that wouldn’t harm you anyways.
“Whatever,” He rolled his eyes slightly annoyed with his own thoughts.
Sha Wujing spoke up next, “Brother monkey, please calm down. We need to be resilient until we reach the Buddha.”
“Quite whining already,” Zhu Bajie snapped in annoyance.
Wukong just rolled his eyes again, the river demon was far too cheerful for his tastes. The only ones he enjoyed seeing that much joy on were his people, his moon and you his soon to be bride. As soon as he broke the shield and properly courtnapped you that is. Turning he was about to start ranting again when he noticed that his mate wasn’t in front of him, specifically his shadowy mate. You were in view but where did Mac go?
He looked around for a moment before finding him walking farther back from the group. This by itself wasn’t all that off but what was odd was the way Macaque was staring at the river. He was staring at it intently with a look of concentration and something else. Curious he found himself hopping backwards to meet his mate’s slow pace. His eyes still hadn’t left the water.
“Moon~ Is there something wrong?” He asked cautiously, if there was something wrong that was never a good sign. His mate could hear many things that he couldn’t possibly hear himself with only two ears. He was always first to know when there was danger around the corner. It was best to be prepared now.
“… Don’t… Don’t drink the water,” was the only thing he said. Wukong’s face scrunched in confusion but shrugged as they finally reached the bank. They were far enough back that no one else head what they said.
On the river bank the group noticed a boat. At least there was a way to cross safely. Wukong stared at it for a while but after seeing that it was a normal mortal woman who was perched in it he shrugged once again. He didn’t care to know why this woman was doing a man’s job and wasn’t going to pry. He was much more concerned with the way his Moon continued to stare at the water. His dark purple eyes were dilated and his tail lashed back and forth, while his hands were clenched into fists while he hugged his arms around himself.
The glamoured pitch black monkey kept his mouth shut. His deep purple eyes staring at the water, as his ears fanned and flicked at every small sound. The array of purple, blue and red was always a sight to see in Wukong’s correct opinion. Along with the swaying tail that flicked, the golden ring around it shining in the light of the sun.
“Does anyone need a ride?” The woman spoke up with a warm smile.
You the kind soul you were replied with an equally warm smile, “That would be greatly appreciated actually.”
Wukong examined the way that Macaque’s eyes snapped towards their soon to be bride when she spoke. The way his tail puffed up and the way his gaze snapped between the water and her. Something was up, there was something brewing through his mate’s mind and he was going to figure it out. One way or another, his mate was hiding something and he did NOT like being left in the dark.
“Moon~ Would you care to explain your nerves?” He whispered as he leaned against his mate’s ears. The three closer to Wukong twitched before lowering closer to his head. He was definitely hiding something.
The moment their eyes met when Macaque turned to look at him, Wukong knew that there was some plan forming in his head. Some sort of plan that made him both excited and desperate. What the plan was however was beyond him. Something must be special about this river and it wasn’t a demon that would attack them. Macaque would have already said it was if that’s what it was. Whatever was different about the river and the plan that was clearly forming in his mind were connected.
Whatever his plan was must be something fantastic if it was coming from his beloved Moon though. He wanted to know what was going on, his mate should let him in on what he’s planning, especially if it had him so deep in thought.
“…” He didn’t respond instead turning away again causing Wukong to frown. He must be really deep in thought to ignore his own mate.
>>><<<
Deep in thought he was. Macaque knew what the river was, what it could do. The Mother-Mother River. It was right in front of them, it was right there. All he had to do was mix some magic from him and Wukong and then… the very thought made him almost droll.
Fuck! You would look so damn cute, nice and round with their cubs. So, so cute and delicate. It would be all the more reason to take you back to Flower Fruit Mountain, where you would be safe and protected from all sides. Where you could be safe and provided for at all times. Where you could raise their cubs happily and safely. Where you couldn’t escape their grasp.
The thoughts pounded through his head. It was wrong, so so very wrong. It would be wrong to do that to you. You deserved to choose, to choose when you wanted cubs. Macaque was more than willing to wait for such a time. He was willing to wait. All he had to do was court you properly and you would eventually be willing to have cubs with him and Wukong.
But… It was right there. You could be having their cubs growing in the next few months. The would have his Sun’s beautiful golden eyes. They would have your pretty hair color too. They might have his six ears, though he’d be fine if they only had two. There were so many possible outcomes of how they would look. They would be so small, so cute and so- so perfect.
He’d wanted cubs since well before the attack against the Celestial Realm. Both he and Wukong had wanted cubs but his mate was so reckless that he didn’t believe it was the time. The thought of not only having cubs of their own but their beautiful, sweet, merciful flame being the one to carry them… It sent him spiraling with selfish desire.
It would stake their claim on you. You might hate them for it. You would be theirs. You already were theirs. But it could hurt you. The thought of hurting you gave him a feeling of disgust for not only the idea but himself for actually thinking about going through with it. It would break your trust in them, possibly forever. He despised the thought of hurting you… but the thought of losing you was a thousand times worse.
They had already slept together before though. It’s not as if you’d know that it was because of the water… because of him. It could have been that night, that beautiful blissful night, when you three got drunk. Of course you were such an adorable and flirty drunk. He had never even thought that you’d come onto them but that night you were… so open and welcoming. He adored it.
He only wished he had made a better show the next morning. Instead of slipping up his words as you fled in embarrassment. And of course when he thought about going after you, fucking Zhu Bajie had to come to wake him and Wukong. Wukong who actually started a fight with the pig for interrupting his morning. They hadn’t been able to broach the topic since, especially with you being the Monk’s shield. The thought made him want to snarl.
His eyes drifted back to the river. So many thoughts flew through his mind as he tried to tell himself that it was a bad idea, a terrible idea. You weren’t pregnant, you would have shown symptoms by now surely. It was such a long time ago… five months. You would know that it wasn’t from that night. Unless… it wasn’t as if Celestial Primates bred that often. There were only four in existence. There were no studies that showed how long it took for one to be with child.
Fuck!! He was thinking about it again! All it would take is one, tiny sip. Then you’d be so well and throughly claimed as theirs. Even more than you were now. The image of you draped in blankets, heavily pregnant and barefoot in their nest, forced its way into his mind. The very thought had Macaque purring, you would look so utterly perfect.
*Snap* *Snap* *Snap*
“Macaque!” You called out from aboard the boat, causing Macaque to flinch in shock out of his thoughts.
His face burned when he noticed everyone staring at him. They were waiting for him to get on the boat. He grumbled a ‘sorry,’ more so for you than anyone else. As he jumped onto the boat right next to you who was looking at him with a worried expression, he calmed himself. As the boat began to move he felt the back of your hand grace his forehead.
“You’re not overheating. So no fever,” You frowned, the worried expression refusing to leave your face.
You were so precious. Seeing him so concentrated and she was worried about him. It almost made him flush, but he refused to let that happen.
“I’m fine,” He grumbled forcing himself to pull away from you. He needed to keep his thoughts to himself right now.
“Are you sure?” You questioned, your face still covered with worry.
Oh what he would do to keep you by his side. It would be so easy, all he had to do was… his eyes glanced back at the water once again. You wouldn’t even suspect a thing, all you would know would be that you were gaining weight. At least at first… How cute and perfect you would look, you would be shuffling around not only in their nest but also simply on Flower Fruit Mountain. You’d never be out of their sight again, protected and cared for at all costs.
He wanted that, he craved that. To see you curled up in their nest, safe and sound away from this dangerous journey and happy. You’d be happy… at least he wanted to believe that you’d be happy. He knew how much you wanted to return home… but he didn’t want you to leave. It was selfish and it was kind of cruel but… you were theirs, you belonged with them.
Feeling your hand on his shoulder he jumped back a bit. He needed to get those thoughts out of his head, they were much to dangerous to think about- But you would be bound to them… not only as their mate but as the mother to their cub, no their cubs. They could have a whole tribe of cubs, they would protect them, love them, feed them… you would breast feed them of course, as long as you could. You could grow another one during it~
No… no you all would want to space it out, wouldn’t want too many cubs at once. That would be far too overwhelming. The first one could be from the river water and after that they could properly woo her until she was sure not to reject them. If you had their child, you wouldn’t be able to bring yourself to keep them away from the cub! You were far more likely to stay by their side, after all you wouldn’t be able to protect them alone. You would need help, their help~
“Hey Moon! You’re distracted again,” Wukong poked at him from beside him, floating next to the boat on his nimbus.
Just like that his fantasy popped and he was forcing himself to calm down once again. The whole plan was stupid, stupid and downright cruel. They needed to woo you first before any plans of cubs should even arise. They needed to properly court you, like properly, with the gifts, the shows of their skills, providing food and valuables for you, scent marking you, courtnapping you~
At the thought of that he felt you shake his shoulder, saying something. Immediately he jumped up from the boat and jumped onto Wukong’s cloud. Wukong nearly fell over in shock as Macaque cuddled up into him. Surprised by the turn of events but he didn’t reject his mate from the offered cuddles. It would be even better if you were cuddled with them, but that would have to wait for next time. Because the last time he’d tried he got decked in the face. Probably because he scooped you up without even revealing what he was doing but that was besides the point.
“Hmph, he must be in a bad mood,” Zhu Bajie grunted in annoyance.
“You thin?” You bit back slightly before looking up at the duo on the cloud. That… that was too bad, hopefully he would feel better soon.
“My Moon, what are you-“ His words were cut short when his mate whispered into his ear.
“The river below us… The river is the Mother-Mother River… it makes those who drink its water become pregnant. I can’t get the thought of it out of my head… tell me- tell me that it’s a bad idea,” Macaque whispered and all at once Wukong knew what his mate had been thinking.
A bad idea? How was that a bad idea? He absolutely LOVED that idea! Oh that would be the perfect plan. He didn’t have to even explain the plan. No Wukong knew what it was. He could already imagine it. The thought of their sweet, beautiful bride ripe and round with THEIR child! It would prove even more just who you belonged to, just who you were mated to. None other than the Monkey Kings of course!
Why would Macaque ever think that was a bad idea? Why did he look so nervous and worried about this? Of course Wukong would agree to this plan! To have you come back home to the island not only as their official mate but as the mother of their unborn cub would be a dream come true. Of course he would agree to this plan. In fact this was one of the best plans his mate had come up with in a long time.
>>><<<
“Hey Reader… are you alright?” Tripitaka asked as he glanced at you with a worried expression across his face.
You looked at him for just a moment before laughing it off, “Oh yes. I’m fine.”
“Are you sure about that dear?” The boat maiden asked, her gaze was both soft and kind.
Even a stranger could tell? You thought to yourself with a bittersweet thought. Those two really did do a number on your emotions didn’t they? You pushed the thoughts aside, they were your friends, mere friends who you were traveling with for but a few years of their immortal lives. You tried to push the bitter pang out of your chest. It didn’t work.
“Yes, I’m perfectly fine. I’m just worried about my friends is all, he isn’t normally that… standoffish,” You muttered… friends, they were your friends, right?
They had stopped trying to attack the group a long time ago, and they started to give you gifts too. They clearly wanted to show you they didn’t mean any harm, even if some of the gifts were rather off. Like the time Wukong tried to give you a still beating and bloody heart. You honestly weren’t sure why they insisted on giving you gifts when they were clearly just trying to make friends. But you also knew they were monkey demons, and as such they expressed their emotions differently.
So of course, you all were friends. You could say that confidently, after all why else would they be so protective? Why else would they make sure you were provided for? Why else would they get so pissed off when another mortal tried to court you?
That- That had happened after… that night. Her face flustered at the mere memory. The memory of their arms around you, the memory of naked skin against fur, the memory of- Hold it right there! That was not at all appropriate thoughts for your friends. Neither Macaque nor Wukong had mentioned it again and you had all been drunk. It meant nothing, it was nothing but a drunken mistake that you would take to your grave.
“If you say so young lady. But bare in mind when the mind is plagued, it can cause you to loose focus on what really matters right in front of you. The here and the now,” The woman finally responded after a long moment of silence.
“You sound like the Master-“ Bajie snorted with a laugh.
Sandy smiled and nodded with his brother, “You are a very wise woman.”
“Thank you gentlemen. We’ve arrived, I wish you all well on your travels,” The Maiden said with a slight bow as the group slid off the boat with ease. “And young miss.”
“Yeah?” You responded almost immediately.
The maiden looked at you with kind and almost sad eyes, “Take care to figure out what it is your thinking so deeply on.”
You felt your face flush again. You knew what you were thinking of, that wasn’t the problem. No the problem is that you were thinking of such things at all. Those thoughts were both impure and inappropriate. Wukong and Macaque were your friends, nothing more and nothing less. Though a part of you, a very small part of you kind of wanted more.
You glanced up at the monkey kings who were still sitting, half on top of each other on Wukong’s nimbus. You couldn’t help but smile, maybe Macaque just needed some alone time with his mate. You were glad they were happy together, they truly were like the Sun and the Moon, always longing for each other. There was no room for you in that dynamic, it was best to get those thoughts out of your head.
Turning around you followed after the group, your thoughts still plagued with the two monkey demons. You should give them privacy. You were completely unaware of the argument that was being spoken by the two simians above the group. No, you weren’t aware of the dangerous and life altering argument that they were having.
The group continued walking for a while. Tripitaka atop Ao Lie getting the easiest ride. Zhu Bajie and Sha Wujing were following after carrying the little luggage that was required for the group. Bajie and Wujing were rather large demons and only took on more reasonable sizes whenever you were near or at a human settlement. Such as on the boat, while now they decided to return to their regular forms.
You… you didn’t have a horse, nor did you have the advantage of size to travel easier. It was merely by the grace of Ao Lie’s slow pace that allowed you to keep up. You didn’t have the true speed to keep up with any of them, and you could be easily left behind. But… you weren’t. For that you were quite thankful to the white horse-dragon. Along with the slower pace, you traveling by foot also resulted in you needing to rest more than the others.
As the group continued to walk, you could see the upcoming town. A breath of relief left you, if there was a village than surly the monk would decide to rest there for a proper night of rest. If you were lucky then you’d stay there for two or three nights. However you knew that was rather unlikely as none of the group had any serious injuries. One night, one night would be enough.
Up above you, there was tension between the two monkey demons that were getting into a heated argument.
>>><<<
“Damnit Wukong! You’re supposed to help me NOT find the good in this stupid, idiotic idea!” Macaque seethed to his mate, his tail flicking angrily as he gripped the cloth of Wukong’s hanfu.
“Stupid? Idiotic? No love, this is a beautiful and absolutely PERFECT idea. It would be so easy too,” Wukong purred at the thought.
Macaque tightened his grip, “Wukong. I want this as much as you but it’s wrong. It’s wrong to force something like this onto her.”
“Oh my Moon~ We don’t have to FORCE her. All we have to do is offer the water, she can always reject it~” Wukong muttered leaning in to give Macaque kisses across his ears. “It’s not our fault if the river isn’t… regular water~”
A shiver ran down Macaque’s spine, he knew what his mate was thinking. He knew his mate very well and knew when his mate was thinking up some plan. He was going to offer the water without telling you about what it is. No, this was wrong. This was all wrong and terrible and a bad, bad idea.
“Wukong-” Macaque began.
“Think about it~ She will look so beautiful when she’s with OUR child, OUR CUB. Just imagine it,” He whispered. He gently biting one of Macaque’s six ears, causing a shiver to run straight down his spine. It wasn’t just because of the bite but also the image forming in his head once again of you heavily pregnant and thoroughly claimed in their nest.
“But- But we don’t even know if she wants cubs-” Macaque tried to persuade his mate as well as himself. He shouldn’t have said anything, he should have kept his mouth shut. Especially when all of his reasons were so easily deflected, especially when his mate who he wanted to stop him was trying to tell him all about how much of a GOOD idea this was.
“You and I both know that she wants cubs. Not to mention she was so good with the baby monkeys on the mountain. Remember~? They were climbing all over her, such curious little cubs they are, all interested in meeting their new Queen~” Wukong purred once again.
The memory was tranquilizing, it made his whole body stiffen. You had been so careful, so kind and so motherly when the baby monkey climbed up into your arms. You had cradled it gently to your chest and cooed as if they were the most precious thing in the world. The beautiful little cub that cuddled up to you was lost and clung to you while you found it’s mother. One who was so grateful to you. Neither the mother nor the cub had even sensed any danger from you at all.
“Come on! Just think about it. She would have to stop this stupid journey and come home with us. She wouldn’t be able to use the artifacts anymore because it could danger the cub and we both know the mere thought would devastate her. She would soon become ripe and round with OUR cubs. She wouldn’t even be able to fight back against us anymore like that~” Wukong sighed at the mere thought of you being unable to fight against him and his mate while also being pregnant with his cub. “We would keep her safe, and provided for. No one would ever be able to even think about taking her away from us~” Wukong chirped into Macaque’s ear happily.
It was the last sentence, the one about no one being able to take you away. The one about you staying with them and no one else that made the moon monkey’s resolve crack. His eyes dilated into slits as his tail curled with his mate’s. A deep purr rumbled through him and Wukong knew that he had won him over. They were going to have a cub! A precious little cub with their beautiful, merciful Reader! The thought caused him to start purring too.
As dazed eyes looked back up at his, Wukong grinned happily. A kiss landed on his lips and Wukong leaned into his mate, his clawed hand pulling Macaque closer into him. Claws dug into fur as they both purred happily, neither of them were letting go of the other. Each were practically trying to devour the other. They only released the other when they heard that annoying pig.
“Oh! Master told me to go get the water! You two have to come with!” Bajie called with an annoyed look across his face. He looked as though he was trying to get a rouse out of them. He also clearly didn’t expect for the monkey duo to agree however it was the perfect excuse to get exactly whaat they wanted.
“Ugh!” Macaque groaned dramatically, while hiding the thoughts that were swirling around through his mind. They were going to make you theirs! You were going to be theirs and absolutely NO ONE could stop them or take you away from them EVER.
>>><<<
“Are you sure it was a good idea to send Sun and Mac with Zhu Bajie?” You asked nervously looking back towards the river that they all headed towards. With how they act around the pig demon you doubted it was a good idea to leave them alone.
Tripitaka shrugged, “It should be fine. They don’t attack people anymore remember? They have been on their best behavior for a while now.”
You only grew more nervous. Sure, the two hadn’t outright attacked any humans in their path recently but.. that didn’t really say much. You still saw the glares of disgust and the annoyed expressions they gave any time other humans were around and whenever you had to come to a village. As much as you care for the two at this point, that didn’t mean you fully trusted them to be alone. Especially with Bajie, who had a tendency to piss them off to no end with his own arrogance.
“If- If you say so…” You muttered quietly, it would be fine. They wouldn’t kill the pig demon, that would send them both into painful torture for hours maybe even days. The pain of the tortuous headbands was something that the two avoided at all costs. They weren’t stupid. Reckless, stubborn and destructive? Yes. But by no means were either of them stupid in any sense of the word.
>>><<<
Meanwhile with the two monkey demons in question.
Bajie had gathered some water front the river in his water skin, lifting it up and taking several gulps without thinking twice. Macaque snickered to himself as he watched the unsuspecting demon. If he were kind maybe he would have warned him, but not only would that spoil their plans. He also loathed the existence of the pig for all the pain and humiliation he liked to cause the duo.
Wukong held in his laughter as the pig started his trek back. He didn’t even bother looking over his shoulder to make sure the two were following him. He didn’t care, the lazy pig simply wanted to return and get back to sleep in the inn. The inn that the rest of the group had probably already arrived at.
“Now. How do we make sure that its OUR cub she conceives. There has to be something special we have to do,” Wukong said quickly as Macaque looked at the water, a small water skin in his hand.
The shadow monkey stared at the water he collected. The best way to make sure that you conceived their child? The best bet would be blood and magical essence surely. Maybe they could have tried to mate after giving you the water- but he wasn’t sure you’d allow that. This was the best bet to make sure you were all well round and pregnant.
“Give me your hand, I need some of your blood,” Macaque said and without another word his mate gave it to him, his claw slicing through the stone monkey’s flesh. The skin healing quickly but after applying enough pressure there was blood left atop the now healed skin.
He sliced his own hand and added just a drop of blood from each of them. That should be all it takes… on second thought maybe they should add some magic too, just to be sure that it works. He allowed his shadows to easily flow into the water and Wukong added in his own powerful magic. Looking into the water it looked normal, he swished it around and his eyes widened as a shimmer of light purple and gold was visible. It was faint and almost unnoticeable hopefully you wouldn’t notice.
“We should get back now, we’ve been gone long enough,” Wukong grinned, a smile so wide it looked like his face might split.
“Yes! Let’s go and get our darling pregnant,” He giggled while wagging his tail happily.
>>><<<
It didn’t take much longer for you until the two monkeys suddenly appeared in front of you. Right out of your shadow. Wukong let out a loud hoot as he jumped out of the shadow portal his mate opened and pulled Macaque with him. You couldn’t help but chuckle at their giddy nature.
“We’re back… how did you too get here first?” Bajie asked his face covered in an irritated expression.
“Because you’re slow, duh,” Wukong laughed at the offended shout of the pig.
“There is no need to fight,” Tripitaka spoke up calmly as he was handed water.
“Sorry Master,” Bajie apologized but Wukong only rolled his eyes, not interested in apologizing at all.
“Wukong,” You said sternly.
He grumbled under his breath before sarcastically saying, “Sorry master.”
You knew that was the best you were going to get from the demon. He wasn’t one who liked to apologize or admit he was in the wrong. But he was getting better, slowly very, very slowly.
“We got some water for you too,” Macaque said as he held the small water skin up for you.
You blinked in surprise when he held it for you, but as you thought back on it there were many times that the monkey demons had given you food and water. You couldn’t help but smile softly. It was in their nature to provide and take care of those who they considered friends after all, at least that’s what you told yourself. You accepted the bag from his hand, not noticing the ay his eyes twinkled in excitement and his tail wag happily.
If you had looked into the bag and looked close enough you might have noticed the slight gold and purple glow that shimmered through the water. But the bag was mostly closed and you closed your eyes as you drank the water. So in the end neither color was noticed as you finished off the water.
“Thank you, I honestly didn’t realize how thirsty I was,” You laughed, truly thankful that they were so attentive.
“No problem,” Wukong grinned, a lovesick smile across his face at the successful plan.
“Do you need anything else? Food? More water?” Macaque asked as his tail thumped against the ground. His initial poor mood seemingly gone, though you still didn’t know how he came to be in that sour mood from before.
You pointed towards town and grinned, “No thanks. We should head over to the inn though, we’re almost there.”
“Of course,” Wukong grinned back at you, answering for himself and Macaque.
Usually they would travel on his cloud or Macaque would take a nap in someone’s shadow. It was odd to see the two monkey demons walk right next to you, though it wasn’t the first time they had done this, but it wasn’t often. At the change of their demeanor, a strange feeling settled into your gut. You narrowed your eyes, what did they do? Surely it was something if they were acting like this.
Just as you were about to speak up and ask, you heard Pigsy groan in pain. You’re head snapped towards him before Tripitaka followed suit in pain. Running over you noticed that Pigsy was on the ground clutching his stomach while the monk slid off the horse almost hitting you before you helped him the rest of the way down.
“Are you two okay!? What happened?” You nearly yelled as you got to them, fear lacing every word.
Macaque’s eyes darkened, why should you show them such care? He and Wukong deserved that attention far more than either of them ever would. Oh what he would give to slice them limb from limb, maybe even gift you their hearts to show that he was the stronger one. He was the one who deserved your attention. HE could gift you the monk’s flesh and with it immortality… he shook the thought away. No, you would only hate that. You and your ever soft heart.
“My stomach hurts,” Tripitaka groaned as you helped him to sit on the ground, he sounded as if he were about to die. A part of you told you, he might be dramatic knowing the monk, but you weren’t for sure.
“I’m dying!” Bajie groaned, now he was definitely being dramatic.
You immediately took your phoenix stone in hand and tried to help the pain go away for both of them. However as you tried the magic from the stone glowed for a moment before flickering out. Your eyes widened in shock, what the- You tried again, it wasn’t cold out there was no reason it shouldn’t work. Fear struck you and you summoned your shield… why did it work and your phoenix stone not?
“Reader are you alright, what’s wrong?” Macaque spoke up as he came over, crouching down to look at you as you allowed the shield to fall.
“It’s not- It’s not working,” You stuttered eyes watering when your only actual weapon wasn’t working.
Macaque glanced at the shield, it was a protective thing, one that didn’t require your magic. He wanted to grab it and shatter it, maybe then it would be out of his sight. If it required energy than maybe it wouldn’t work either, unfortunately that wasn’t the case. Instead of it not working it seemed to be even stronger, the magic within it sensing your more vulnerable state. He was actually impressed, Su was able to make such a strong enachantment and one that could sense you immediately.
In your state of turmoil you tried to think of a reason when Wukong placed a hand on your shoulder. “We’ll have to figure that out later, right now Master seems to be sick.”
You nodded, as you pushed the thoughts out of your head. Now wasn’t the time to freak out, no your friends needed you calmer. Taking a deep breath you looked around and noticed an elderly woman walking up to your group, seemingly on her way towards the river.
“Are you all okay?” The woman asked, quietly eyeing the demons in the group before turning her attention to you.
“We don’t know what happened! Our master and our companion suddenly fell over after drinking some water!” Wujing nearly yelled, completely freaking out over the situation. He tried to help Bajie sit up the same way you held up Tripitaka.
“Water? What water did they drink?” The woman asked, her fave creasing with worry as she pursed her lips in thought.
You didn’t notice the way that Macaque bit his lip in worry and irritation. You were about to find out the truth, what they had done. No! You had no way of knowing that they knew what they were doing, he knew this was a bad idea- but… you- you were carrying his child now. The thought sent a shiver of excitement down his spine. It was only a matter of time-
“The water from the river-,” You began to say, but as soon as the words left your lips the woman began to chuckle before falling into a fit of laughter.
“What’s so funny!” Bajie shouted through his pain, anger splitting across his face.
“The river, you drank the water from THAT river?” The woman asked pointing back to the river that they had just left behind.
You nodded irritation covering your face at her nonchalonce and clear amusement at your companions suffering, “Yes, THAT river. What about it?” Why would someone laugh at someone else’s obvious pain?
You also couldn’t figure out how the river could be causing their pain. After all Macaque and Wukong had gotten you water too and you were perfectly fine. Besides the artifact not working you were perfectly fine, absolutely nothing was different. Then again… with your forest stone- you were immune to most poisons but surely there wasn’t a whole river that was just poisoned… right?
“You see my dear, this is the land of women. There are only women who live her,” The woman began with a kind smile.
“Okay? Cool what does that have to do with-“ You cut in but was cut off by the woman who was telling the story.
“We have no men here, so when a woman wants a child and to be pregnant… they go to the mother-mother river. When she drinks of the water, it makes the woman conceive a child,” She finished explaining completely calm about what she just said.
There was a moment of silence as the facts slowly settled onto the group. Tripitaka, Bajie and you had drank the water, the water from the mother-mother river. You- you were all… pregnant!?!? No-No this couldn’t be happening!
“What!?” You shouted in shock, your worry for your friends completely cut off when the fact that you- yourself were pregnant. Pregnant with a child, a child. You were pregnant!! Child, you were going to have a child!? Were you ready for a child? How were you supposed to continue the journey with a child at your hip!?
Of course, you tried to push those thoughts away when you looked at the other two. You had a female body, you had the organs to carry the child… Tripitaka and Bajie- they, they were men. They couldn’t carry a child, what- what would happen to them!? Would it kill them? Their bodies were not designed to carry life within them like a female’s body did. It was a part of nature that way. The mother-mother river wasn’t meant to be drank by men!
“So… you’re telling us that, Tripitaka, Bajie and Reader are… Pregnant?” Wujing asked, his shock evident across his entire face.
Behind the group Wukong suddenly burst into a fit of laughter. He fell down to his knees as he clutched his stomach, deep laughter rolling freely out of him as he cackled. He had been so caught up in their plan to get you to drink the water, for YOU to get pregnant that he didn’t even think about the monk or the pig demon. He laughed and laughed unable to control his fit of laughter as he realized that they were both indeed also pregnant.
Faintly he heard Wujing follow suit with the laughter. He wasn’t as worried and more amused at the situation. Of course the river demon would also find this situation as amusing as Wukong did.
“What!? No that can’t be!! How- How can we fix this!?” Bajie shouted angrily at the woman, his whole body shaking with rage at the mere thought of it.
“Fix it? Oh of course. You must follow the river up to the source where the river begins inside of the mountain. Within the mountain there is a spring separate from the river, that is where one can choose… to terminate the pregnancy,” The woman explained calmly as she eyed the group, holding back her laughter.
Almost immediately you felt yourself relax, your friends would be safe. You didn’t need to worry about them, there were three others who hadn’t drank the water and could get to the spring. You knew that a child could not grow within them, it would die before their life could even begin and it would probably take them with it. Your heart was pained at the thought, but you knew there was nothing that could be done about it.
“Wukong, Macaque, and Sandy you three go find the spring and bring back some water,” Triptiaka ordered quietly as he clutched his stomach in pain.
Wukong’s laughter all but seize up almost immediately before he looked at the monk and scowled. He hated when the monk told him what to do. He hated how the monk thought he was above him! He had no right to… but that wasn’t what he was most worried about right now. No. If they got the spring water then his own cub… NO DAMNIT! His face twisted into a snarl. You were carrying their cub! There was no reason for you to get rid of such a blessing!
“Hold up! Why should we fix your-!?” Wukong shut up when Macaque placed a hand on his shoulder and squeeze almost threateningly.
It was a silent but very real warning, if he kept talking it would ruin their oh so well thought out plan. Or rather the plan that they both jumped into without pausing attention to the consequences, even thought they knew what they could be. They had only thought of themselves and what this would all mean for them. Macaque knew very well that they were on thin ice, they were so close to being found out. He couldn’t have that, they were expected to fix their compainions’ fuck up. They needed to stay calm and think.
“I-I drank the water too though. Why am I not in pain?” You finally spoke up worry and confusion covering your face.
“… That would probably be because you are female. You are female are you not?” The woman asked with a warm and kind smile.
“Yes. I was- I AM female,” You nodded.
“Your body has accepted the child gracefully. However neither of your companinons are well- female. They cannot exactly carry the child so their body’s are clearly rejecting it and it is causing them a great deal of pain, and eventually it can lead to their death,”. The woman explained calmly.
The explanation calmed you down slight but it also worried you a great deal too. They were like this due to their anatomy, in pain with the possiblity of death looming over their heads. As for you? There as no threat to your life with a child growing in your womb. The worry for yourself had vanished but… your companions-
“Sandy, Wukong and Macaque go get Tripitaka and Bajie the water,” You said glancing at the three who had still not moved.
“What about you? You’re weak like this-“ Wujing asked, a worried expression crossing over his face for your safety as well as his other companions.
You stayed silent, you weren’t able to use your phoenix stone and you had no idea how long as that would last. You knew that it was dangerous in this world to be stuck without a weapon but- you could still use your shield. At least- for now. You didn’t know what to do you needed to protect your friends, and what would happen when- when you returned back to your world.
No! That’s not what was improtnat right now. Your shield still worked, you would be okay. You felt your eyes water and your vision blurred. Tears threatened to spill down your cheeks but you fought them back. It would be okay- Besides they wouldn’t be that long.
They would probably bring you some water to- the thought crossed your mind. You weren’t sure if you wanted any but Wujing was clearly offering to bring you water too. Was this the right choice? You were weak like this and you would grow even weaker as months passed. You weren’t even sure how long it would take to get back to your world, would the child be born here? Or there? Would you be able to protect them? So many questions filled your head and you had no idea what to do about any of it.
Was giving up the child the right decision, but it was a child- YOUR child. The thoughts wouldn’t leave your mind as you looked up at the worried expression of the river demon. You didn’t notice the deadly aura that was slowly coming off of the monkey demons behind you. You were completely unaware that they knew what they did that they had decided to do it freely and willingly. All to have you to themselves with a little one one the way.
They would NEVER allow for something to happen to you or your- their cub. Even if you didn’t know it yet.
OKAY!! Finally finished the first chapter. How this turned from 4,200 words to almost 8,000? I have no idea. But I hope everyone enjoys. I’ll probably rewrite the rest of the story too, but damn I don’t know if the other chapters will be this long. This- is really long. Well I hope everyone enjoys! Right now I just want to know everyone’s opinion on it, if you are willing to give it that is.

“Shit!”
Well, that couldn’t be a good sign.
Wukong slammed another hypnotized demon’s head into the ground, knocking them unconscious, whirling around and kicking another demon in the gut as he directed half of his attention towards the pained swear that had come from behind him. A short distance away, MK and Mei were blocking any enemies from reaching Macaque, who had fallen down onto one knee, clutching his leg.
Even from this distance, Wukong could see the smattering of blood on the pavement.
He clicked his tongue in annoyance, then ripped a handful of fur from his arm, blowing on it to summon some clones, mentally directing them in various directions to even out the fight. One specifically went and scooped Macaque out of the way of an axe wielding demon that had slipped past MK and Mei’s defense line, quickly carrying the other monkey to a nearby rooftop.
Wukong could feel the phantom sensation of Macaque smacking the clone’s back with his hand, as well as the faint whispers of complaints in his ear. He payed them no mind, jumping up to knee someone in the face, quickly bringing up his other leg in a follow up swing to shove them into another demon, sending them both into a wall hard enough to make it break. He spared a glance towards the rooftop for a moment, checking to make sure his clone was standing guard, before shooting his hand up to grab a wrist just before the fist attached to it could make contact with the side of his face. Wukong tightened his grip, twisted to the side, planted his foot, and flung them into the pavement with just barely non-lethal force.
He winced a bit as he heard a few bones crack.
…Maybe he should tone it down a little. Most of these demons weren’t doing this of their own free will after all.
Almost as though just thinking that had willed it, the buzzing sensation that Wukong had been pushing to the back of his mind suddenly came to an end. Wukong glanced up to see that MK had tackled some dressed up demon to the ground, and that Mei was currently stamping on some sort of- walkie talkie?
The demons that had been slowly approaching him crumbled to the ground. A few of them made noises of pain. Wukong almost wanted to do something similar. Despite having not actually been under the influence of whatever had been affecting the others, now that the buzzing was gone, he was suddenly being made aware of a killer headache. Headaches weren’t that out of the ordinary for him, but with the way this one felt, it was likely going to become a migraine sooner or later, and disrupt his well fought for peace.
Speaking of things that frequently disrupt his peace…
Wukong glanced back up towards the rooftop where his clone was waiting for him. He raised an eyebrow, and his clone responded by giving a gesture which clearly implied that he should ‘get up here, now.’
Wukong let out a sigh.
And then he jumped up, grabbing onto a signpost with his hand, swinging around it and using the momentum to fling himself up onto the rooftop. He dispelled his clone as he landed, dusting off his hands.
“So!” He said, “What’s the damage?”
“Fuck you.”
“Ooh, that’s not good.” Wukong crouched down beside where Macaque was partially curled up, the other glaring up at him. “Normally your insults are a lot more dignified than that.”
“Again, fuck you.” There was less heat behind it this time, shockingly. Wukong’s ear twitched as he assessed the way Macaque was clutching at his leg, before moving to grab his hands. Macaque’s tail puffed up in agitation. “Don’t touch me!”
“Hey, I can’t help you out if you won’t let me look!” Wukong grabbed hold of Macaque’s hands, overpowering him and finally getting a clear look at the injury. He hissed with sympathy. “Ah, that does look bad.”
Three long gashes ran down Macaque’s leg, from his knee to just above his ankle. His pant leg was practically shredded. Wukong didn’t think any level of thread and needle could fix the fabric… well, Macaque probably had plenty of extras anyways, hopefully.
The blood was dripping onto the roof underneath him and, well, Wukong didn’t really notice before but… man did it smell sweet.
Macaque’s magic always tended to lean on the sugary side- or, well, ‘lean’ was too small a word. Macaque’s magic was majorly sweet. It kinda smelled a bit like sugar cookies- if they were comprised of 90% sugar. It was the sweetest thing Wukong had ever tasted if he was being honest, immortal peaches being a close second.
…Not that he had had a taste of either in recent years. Macaque magic, specifically, well, Wukong hadn’t gotten a taste of his magic since- well. Before.
Macaque’s body runs on magic now, of course. His blood practically was magic.
Fuck, it smells really good.
Wukong was getting way too distracted by it.
“You got first aid stuff on ya?” He asked. He didn’t carry any on himself and, well, using his hair as a substitute for it never really turned out well. (Wukong didn’t even want to think about the number of infected wounds he’d accidentally given to himself over the years. No, those were incidents he’d prefer remain as distant memories). He really should figure out a way to store some first aid on himself- wait. He could shrink things, why had he never thought to- shit, he was getting distracted again.
Macaque didn’t give him a verbal response, instead rolling his eyes, a shadow pooling beside Wukong. Hesitatingly, (he wouldn’t doubt that Macaque would choose to play a prank even when injured), Wukong dipped his tail into the shadow, gripping onto a handle, pulling out a first aid kit. Setting it down, he clicked it open, looking over what he had. Unsurprisingly, it was pretty well stocked. Wukong had to wonder where Macaque had even gotten some of this stuff, he doubted the other had bought it.
Well, first things first was cleaning the wound.
Wukong brushed the shredded remains of Macaque’s pant leg out of the way, gripping Macaque’s ankle and pulling his leg towards him, ignoring Macaque’s hiss of pain as he started cleaning the cuts. They didn’t look too deep, Wukong would admit he’d been the slightest bit worried because of how Macaque was acting, but, then again, the shadow monkey always did have a shit pain tolerance. Wukong leaned down a little closer, eyes flickering gold to make sure he wasn’t missing anything-
Oh, the sweet scent of Macaque’s magic was so much stronger this close. He- he really craved- he wanted-
Mind completely lost, Wukong licked a line of blood off of Macaque’s leg, and then froze. Macaque, who had let out an outright squeak at the sensation, froze as well as the two of them suddenly locked eyes.
“Oh, ew!” They both jumped as MK’s voice interrupted their… moment, turning to see both him and Mei only just barely over the edge of the rooftop. “Did not want to see that! If you kids are going to do weird shit, do it behind closed doors, please!”
“I’m centuries older than you!” Wukong replied, instinctively, before the rest of MK’s sentence, along with the entirety of what just happened finally hit him, and he recoiled, letting go of Macaque’s leg and backing away, face igniting with gold. “And- and we weren’t doing anything weird!”
“Uh-huh, sure.” MK sounded entirely unconvinced, and beside him, Mei put her hands on her hips in an equally as doubtful pose. “Nothing happened, and Macaque definitely doesn’t look like he’s about to pass out.”
There was a small thump from beside him, and Wukong turned to find that Macaque had, in fact, passed out. Perfectly on queue too. Dramatic as always. MK let out a curse.
“Oh, shit, I was joking, I didn’t think he actually would-” Both him and Mei quickly ran forwards, restarting what Wukong had gotten distracted from. Mei started re-cleaning Macaque’s leg, while MK quickly checked Macaque’s head for any possible injuries. “Do you think it’s from blood loss or, uh-”
“Eh, hard to tell.” Wukong knelt down beside Macaque again, gently flicking the other’s cheek. He felt a steady returning echo of magic, so, “His magic seems to be stable. He was probably just overwhelmed, or something. …Can’t imagine why.”
“Oh, yeah, definitely no reason behind it at all.” Mei said, reaching around Wukong to grab the bandages out of the first aid kit, tightly wrapping them around Macaque’s leg. Wukong avoided eye contact with both her and MK. The sweet scent was still lingering in both his nose and mouth- he subconsciously licked his lip. Suddenly, he felt a prickle indicating eyes were on him, and he looked up to find that MK was staring at him with something like concerned wariness.
“…Monkey King.” MK started, slowly, “I know you and Macaque are… complicated, but you’re not planning on… eating him, right? Cause you uh, you can’t do that.”
“Ea- I’m not going to eat him.” Wukong said, offended, “I don’t- I’ve never- where are you getting that idea from?”
“I don’t know, Mr. King.” Mei finished up bandaging Macaque’s leg, pulling a sticker out of her pocket and placing it on top of her work- for some reason. “You’ve been staring at him kinda hungrily.”
“…I don’t think that’s a way you can stare at someone.” Wukong rubbed the back of his neck, “Besides, even if I did like, do the whole, ‘eating people’ thing- which I don’t. I certainly wouldn’t eat him, he’d probably taste gross.”
Well. He’d probably taste really sweet actually. He found his eyes drifting down to where Macaque’s neck would be visible, if it weren’t for the other’s scarf. Now that the injury was bandaged, the scent wasn’t as strong anymore- but it was still there…
“You certainly didn’t seem to think he was gross when you were licking Macaque’s leg.” Mei said, snapping Wukong out of his staring and making his face burn.
“That was- I was just- um. My saliva helps things heal faster?”
“Y’know, I’d almost believe that if you hadn’t said it like that.” MK said, digging around in his pocket, before seemingly finding what he was looking for. “Open your mouth.”
“Wha-” Wukong was cut off as, faster than he could blink, MK unwrapped a lollipop and shoved it into Wukong’s mouth. “Hey-”
“Lick something that’s supposed to be licked.” MK said, standing up, summoning the staff into his hand and walking towards the edge of the roof, Mei silently following after him. “Me and Mei have a dance party to get to- if I don’t hear from Macaque by midnight, I will be accusing you of cooking him!”
Wukong’s offended cry that, again, he did not eat people, fell on seemingly deaf ears as both MK and Mei jumped down from the roof’s edge, vanishing, leaving Wukong crouching on the rooftop beside a still unconscious Macaque.
After a few minutes, he sighed, using his tongue to turn the lollipop over in his mouth.
It was peach flavoured.
…It still wasn’t as sweet as-
Wukong shook that thought out of his head- oh, huh. Somehow, in between earlier and now, his headache had vanished. That was… weird. He’d been sure it was going to become a migraine. Maybe the distraction was all he’d needed? …Whatever. He didn’t have the time to focus on that.
He glanced down at Macaque, and sighed, before placing his hands underneath him and lifting him up as gently as he could. As much as some mean-spirited part of him might wish to do so, he couldn’t just leave the other on top of a random rooftop. The least he could do was get Macaque back to his dojo- or, well their dojo, at the current moment. Flower Fruit Mountain was still unsuitable for living in, at the current moment. Reforming his past house required a lot of magic and focus, and, well, Wukong may or may not be lacking in one of those departments, so it was taking quite a while.
Not to mention he’d had a late start on it. …A month’s long late start to it. Procrastination could be such a bitch sometimes.
So, he’d been staying at Macaque’s dojo for the time being. (MK had offered his apartment, and Sandy had offered his boat, but… Macaque’s dojo was the only other building around with a built in pocket space that could fit all of Wukong’s stuff. Or, well, what remained of it. Wukong didn’t really want to think about all that had gotten destroyed during the fight against Azure, he’d salvaged what he could, and that was that. He definitely didn’t still think of the items that were either destroyed or missing).
Or, well, he was kind of staying there. Sure, his stuff was stored there, and he’d spent like, maybe one or two nights guarding said stuff, but he had yet to actually, like, sleep there. After he was certain Macaque wasn’t going to go through his stuff, he’d been spending most of his time either hanging out with the kid and the others at the Noodle Shop, or finding a random tree to rest in.
Which was why he paused when, upon kicking down random doors, he paused upon the discovery that, at some point, Macaque had seemingly prepared a room for him.
Or, well, it wasn’t really a new discovery. Wukong had heard him mumbling about how he’d “gone through the effort of putting a room together for nothing”, but he had assumed the other had just been joking- poking fun over how Wukong currently preferred a tree branch over an actual bed. Apparently, this was not the case.
Wukong took a quick glance down the hallway. There were still multiple doors to try if he wanted to find Macaque’s actual room, but, well, there was a bed right here, so.
He quickly stepped in and dropped the other unceremoniously onto the bed- and then winced as the other let out a slightly pained whimper in his sleep. Ah. Right. Injured leg. You’re meant to be careful with injured people.
…Sue him. It’s been centuries since he’d last had to deal with caring for an injured person that wasn’t himself, he was out of practice.
Slightly more gently, Wukong rearranged Macaque so that he wasn’t in a position that would aggravate the cuts on his leg. And then he… stared. Silently. Macaque was still asleep- which would’ve been concerning, Wukong was fairly sure if someone passes out, they’re not meant to stay unconscious for this long unless there’s a serious medical reason, but, well. That buzzing had been hard on Wukong’s ears, he could only imagine what it’d been like for Macaque. Maybe he just needed the rest?
The last bit of lollipop dissolved on his tongue, and Wukong took the remaining stick out of his mouth and tossed it into the trash as he contemplated. Was there anything else here he needed to-
Oh! Water! Water would probably be good- everyone likes a good glass of water when they wake up, yep. Wukong turned around, new mission in mind, heading towards Macaque’s kitchen. Man, now that there was nothing sweet in his mouth, he was craving sugar again- but he already knew that Macaque didn’t keep any treats in there. He’d tried to raid the kitchen on his first night staying here, out of spite, only to find it horrifically empty. Pigsy would’ve thrown a fit if he’d known. Actually, now that he was thinking about it, maybe he should tell the pig demon about that, the idea of what Macaque’s expression would be when confronted with a pissed-off Pigsy was endlessly entertaining.
…That might come back to bite him though. It was well known at this point that the Monkey King didn’t have the best eating habits either. Maybe he should save that idea for a time when he can easily get away…
Oh. He’d overfilled the cup.
Wukong quickly turned off the tap, setting the cup down on the counter as he shook water droplets off of his hand. Jeez, he seriously was having a hard time keeping himself in the moment today. More so than usual.
He poured the slightest bit of water out of the cup and down the drain, so that it wouldn’t easily spill, before heading back to the room and- there was no bedside table in here. How hadn’t he noticed that?
He couldn’t just leave the cup on the floor, it’d likely just end up spilled that way… wait-
Wukong ripped a piece of hair off his tail, snapping his fingers to turn it into a bedside table. There, problem solved. He set the cup down with a firm clink, scanned the room, and it’s occupant, one last time, before turning and leaving.
He could really use something sweet right now.
~
At exactly 11pm at night, Wukong’s phone went off with a message from the group chat that MK had partially forced him into. Nibbling on his ninth cookie of the night, Wukong swiped his phone open.
MK: are we all still up for game night tmrw?
A few affirmative messages flew by, Wukong simply sending a thumbs up emoji into the mix. A few seconds later, Macaque sent a thumbs down.
Mei: good 2 see that our resident phantom of the opera is still alive
Wukong snorted as he watched Macaque react to that message with a middle finger emoji- only to edit it into an angry face emoji immediately after out of fear of Pigsy’s wrath. At the very least this meant that MK wouldn’t be pestering him about Macaque’s whereabouts in an hour. Wukong had not been looking forward to that possible conversation. He set his phone down on the table even as messages continued to flow across the screen.
“Y’know.” He said, “You can’t keep avoiding game night forever.”
There was a crash, and a split second later, a shadow portal opened in the doorway, Macaque stepping out of it, looking some combination of pissed off and frazzled.
“What are you doing in my kitche- what the fuck?!” Macaque cut himself off as he fully registered the scene in front of him. “Wukong. What is this-”
“Uh, I’m in your kitchen cause I’m staying here, remember? Not really, again, Wukong had barely spent much time here at all other than those two nights guarding his stuff. “And this is all uh, a late night snack. You know you’ve got no food in here? Do you even eat?”
“…I just portal it in here when I’m hungry.” Macaque mumbled, the cleared his throat. “This. Is not a midnight snack- this is- did you even pay for half of this stuff?”
“Yes I did, in fact, pay for it, so if you want some you’re gonna have to pay me back for it.”
“I can’t even begin to imagine how much this cost you- nevermind. I’m rephrasing my question. Why do you have what’s practically a sweets banquet set up in my kitchen?” Macaque asked, “You’ve got like, three cakes here-”
“I was craving sugar.” Wukong shrugged, picking up another cookie, avoiding eye contact as he shoved it into his mouth. Although… Macaque had a point. Wukong had returned with the results of his sweets haul over two hours ago, and he’d barely made a dent in it since then. But, well, he wasn’t lying. He was craving sugar.
…Still is. Not a single one of these treats seemed to be able to get rid of his want for-
Macaque reached over Wukong’s shoulder to grab a cookie from the package sitting in front of the Monkey King, and Wukong nearly choked as he was suddenly hit with the sweet scent of the other’s magic yet again.
Yeah. Okay then. Nothing else really could ever truly compare. The cookie still in his mouth suddenly tasted practically flavourless in comparison.
He still shoved another one into his mouth anyways, if only to get the thoughts of biting Macaque’s arm out of his mind.
“I’m not paying you back for this by the way.” Macaque said, taking a small mouselike bite out of his cookie, as though testing if it was actually good, before taking a slightly larger bite. “…Albeit, I guess I could like, take these as rent? Since you’re storing all your shit here.”
“I won’t throw you through a wall for taking my cookie on one condition.”
“…Which is?”
“Join us for game night.”
“I’d rather get thrown through the wall.”
“Alright.”
“Wait- wait!” Macaque’s voice pitched up with slight fear as Wukong stood up and grabbed hold of his arm. Wukong paused and waited, but didn’t let go. Macaque stared at him, as though analyzing whether or not he was actually serious.
He was. Injury or not, a little throw through a wall wouldn’t hurt him that much. And would also let Wukong take out a little bit of frustrated energy- that headache that had gone away earlier was slowly starting to make it’s way back.
After a few seconds of nothing but silent staring, Wukong raised an eyebrow, tightening his grip ever so slightly.
“Shit- fine!” Macaque hissed, tugging at his arm, trying to free it. “I’ll go to game night! Now let go of me!”
“That’s more like it.” Wukong obediently let go of Macaque’s arm, turning and sitting back down, scooping his phone off the table.
MonkeyKing: convinced mac to come to game night
MK: HOW?!
MK: actually based on what happend earlier. i dont wanna know
“…Are you going to be sitting out here all night?” Macaque asked, bringing Wukong back to where he currently was before he could type out a frantic message about how nothing had happened earlier. Macaque was leaning against the back of Wukong’s chair, though, he was seemingly more focused on the second cookie he’d snatched than the phone, which Wukong quickly turned off before Macaque could see the messages- purposefully or accidentally. Briefly, he glanced down at the bandages wrapped around Macaque’s leg- there was no sign of bleed through, which was good, but-
“Do you have to stand so close?” The proximity was making the sugar cravings so much worse, and with the treats in front of him no longer working as a substitute…
Wukong forced his gaze away from where it had strayed to Macaque’s scarf, or, well, his neck. He seriously didn’t need a repeat of whatever had come over him before.
“Why?” Macaque did the opposite of what Wukong wanted him to do, leaning closer, “Does it bother you?”
“Psh, no.” Wukong reached up to shove Macaque away, touching nothing but thin air as Macaque side-stepped out of reach with a smirk- which was soon replaced by- a yawn? Wukong stared at him incredulously. “There’s no way you’re still tired. You just spent the past like, 6 hours unconscious.”
“I could probably go for another 32.”
“…Minutes?”
“Hours.”
“Sounds festive.”
“Glad to know you find the idea of me falling into a coma fun.”
“Look, if you’re that tired, just go back to bed.” Wukong rolled his eyes, “I’m not gonna like, start watching a movie on full blast or anything.”
“You will likely make a mess of my kitchen though.” Macaque said, “I mean, you practically already have. Are you at least going to bring some of this stuff to the game night- I don’t think either of us could finish even half of this on our own.”
That… was an excellent idea actually.
“It was always the intent for most of it to be for game night.” Wukong lied, “I’m done here now anyways- the kid just wanted me to make sure you didn’t like, bleed out or something.”
He grabbed a new package of cookies, shoving them into the folds of his clothes as he stood up, brushing past Macaque on the way to the door. Wukong paused with one foot out of the dojo.
“I’ll come back tomorrow afternoon to help carry everything over to the Noodle Shop.” He said, “You better be ready by then, or I will be dragging you out of bed. Forcibly.”
“Yeah yeah, whatever.” Macaque huffed, waving him off, “Have fun getting backpain in your random tree branch.”
Wukong already dealt with backpain, a few weeks of nights spent sleeping on a tree branch weren’t going to help or hurt him more. But, well, that wasn’t important.
He slammed the door of the dojo closed behind himself, and summoned his cloud to go hang out on the roof of MK’s apartment until tomorrow.
~
“Uno!”
“Go fish.”
“I think I’m gonna fold.”
“Does anyone have an eight?”
“Pick up two.”
“Wait, what are we playing?” Wukong asked, suddenly very aware of the lack of cards in his hands. At his question, Mei let out a snort, and the others set their handfuls of various cards down on the table.
“We’re playing Never Have I Ever.” MK patted Wukong on the back comfortingly, “You started spacing out twenty minutes ago- Red Son thought it’d be funny to see how long it’d take you to notice we’d started spouting random game instructions.”
“Noodle Boy, you cannot just oust me like that-”
“No wonder it’s taking you so long to remake Flower Fruit Mountain.” Macaque interrupted as he set down his own hand- two queens and two plus four Uno cards. “If you can barely focus enough on a kids game, then it’s a miracle you can get any complex magic spell done at all.”
“Hey- I’m not normally this bad.” Wukong said, rubbing gently at his forehead. “…I just have a little headache, that’s all.”
“I’ve got an aspirin if you need one.” Mei popped a pill out of a package and held it out. Wukong stared at it a little hesitantly for a few seconds- mortal medicine had a fairly low chance of helping him out nowadays. But, well, low chance was still better than no chance… Wukong took the pill and swallowed it dry, ignoring how some of the others winced at that action. It probably wouldn’t help him much in the long run, but, well, he could pretend it did for their sakes.
“Now that Monkey King is back in the land of the living-” MK said, pouring a refill of juice into everyone’s cups, “I can say this; Never Have I Ever licked someone’s leg-”
“Oh, you’re still on that?” Wukong would’ve rathered they’d left that whole thing behind. He grabbed his cup-
And proceeded to almost spill it when Macaque violently slammed his hands down on the table.
“Wait.” He hissed, eyes flickering from MK to Wukong and back again. “That was real? That actually happened?! I thought I hallucinated it-”
“It was, unfortunately, real.” MK said with a solemn tone that did not at all fit the topic they were talking about. Quietly, Red Son asked Mei what was going on, and Mei leaned over to whisper about what had happened yesterday into his ear. Wukong could only thank whoever in Heaven that may or may not be listening in that Pigsy, Tang, and Sandy were busy getting pizza from the store, and were thus not being brought in on this whole little fiasco.
“Whatever- it, it was nothing, okay?” Wukong downed his juice in one go, grabbing the bottle with his tail to pour more into his now empty cup. “Let’s just move on- Never Have I Ever… uh-”
He paused for a moment, trying to think of something that he hadn’t done. As someone who had lived for over a millenia, well…
“…Maybe this wasn’t the best choice of game to play with a bunch of immortals.” Red Son said-
“No, no, I- actually no, yeah, I’ve got nothing.” Wukong had been going to say he’d never eaten people- considering MK had seemed to decide they were bringing up yesterday’s events, but, well. He was pretty sure Red Son’s family had had a little… phase, and he wasn’t entirely sure if Mei and MK knew, and, well, a party game was arguably the worst way to find out about things like that, in Wukong’s opinion.
…Or maybe they wouldn’t care, who knows, MK and Mei were weird like that. He’s pretty sure he heard the kid specifically chanting something along the lines of “Be Gay, Do Crimes” the other day, or something like that. Was cannibalism included in that? Wukong has no idea, and he certainly is not going to be the one to ask.
He was spared from further thinking about it as the Noodle Shop’s door chimed- Tang, Pigsy, and Sandy finally returning, Sandy carrying pizza boxes in his hands.
(Wukong had brought over some of the junk food he’d impulse bought the previous night. Macaque had complained about how he was still leaving so much of it in his kitchen, but, well, Wukong kinda wanted a stockpile of it. Just in case. Either way, it didn’t really matter, quite a lot of what he had brought over would probably be coming back to the Dojo with them anyways, considering Pigsy had nearly passed out over the idea of only having sweets for super. He’d insisted they at least get something more dinner-like, even if it was takeout from another place. MK had demanded pizza faster than anyone else could think).
“Scoot over, monkey.” Pigsy said, pulling a chair over to the table, making Wukong have to move over-
Closer to Macaque.
Shit.
Wukong took a chocolate bar he’d hidden in his shirt pocket earlier (it was his favourite brand, he only had one left and he wasn’t risking any of the others taking it), and took a bite out of it, forcing his eyes to remain on the table and not stray over to the monkey demon sitting beside him. There was no sweet scent surrounding the other anymore- thank heaven, but just the memory alone was messing with him. The urge to just bite the other was all too strong.
“Right!!” Mei clapped her hands together, drawing Wukong’s attention back to the group. “Now that we’re all here, lets get the real games going. Up first, I think we should play Werewolf-”
~
“Night one. Night. One. All of you- voted for me first thing.” Macaque hissed as Wukong slammed the door of the dojo closed behind them. “I hadn’t even done anything yet! There wasn’t even a discussion- just immediate voting!”
“Macaque, that was hours ago, why are you still complai-”
“Don’t think I haven’t forgotten that you were the one who voted for me first, Wukong!” Macaque poked Wukong in the chest as emphasis- “You clearly set that whole thing up on purpose- hey!”
Wukong grabbed hold of Macaque’s wrist, pushing him backwards as the Monkey King stepped forwards, pinning Macaque up against the wall.
“Enough.” Wukong hissed, and then paused, taking in the look on Macaque’s face, the way shadows were slowly darkening against the wall, as though ready to portal the other away. After a second, he relaxed his grip on Macaque’s wrist a little, using his free hand to gently run a thumb over Macaque’s cheek. “You’ve been complaining for hours. It’s making my headache worse, so- it’s high time you shut up a little.”
When the shadows faded to their usual colour, and Macaque didn’t voice any form of protest, Wukong leaned in.
…This wasn’t the first time they had kissed. Far from it.
A few days after the fight against Azure, Macaque had shown up in the remains of Flower Fruit Mountain. The resulting fist fight had ended with Macaque pinned to the ground, panting, and smirking, before he’d grabbed the front of Wukong’s clothes and pulled himself up to place a kiss on Wukong’s cheek.
Wukong had grabbed him before he could fade into the shadows and pressed their lips together with a surprising gentleness for someone who hadn’t kissed another for over two hundred years.
They hadn’t really… stopped since then. Neither of them ever really planned to initiate it, it just seemed to happen- suddenly gently or passionately kissing each other.
This kiss… was neither of those things.
It was desperate, and needy, and Wukong’s fangs nipped Macaque’s lip hard enough to draw blood and make him gasp. Wukong pulled back at the sound of it, before zeroing in on the blood. He ran his thumb over Macaque’s lip, smearing the blood, then brought his thumb to his mouth and licked it.
“…Sweet.” He said, ignoring the way Macaque’s eyes narrowed at him as he leaned back in for a better taste. Macaque made a choked sort of noise as Wukong licked his lip mid-kiss. Wukong slowly let go of Macaque’s wrist in order to cup the other’s face with both hands, pulling him slightly away from the wall and impossibly closer to him, nipping at Macaque’s lip again to draw more blood forth.
“Ow!” Macaque pushed Wukong back- Wukong forcing himself to comply and move away as Macaque shook his head, seemingly trying to snap himself out of the daze that had come over him. “Okay- wait- what’s with the biting?”
Wukong silently stared at the small trails of blood slowly dripping from Macaque’s bottom lip and down his chin.
“Wukong? Sun Wukong. Hey.” Macaque snapped his fingers in front of Wukong’s face. “I know you’re bad at it, but I’d like you to focus now-”
Wukong blinked, trying to think clearly over the delicious sweetness that was steadily fading from his tongue.
“Uh-” He hesitated, trying to make eye contact, and failing, eyes being drawn back to the quickly drying blood. How to- explain? His mind was buzzing over finally getting a small taste of what he’d been craving all day, and despite his headache having somehow vanished, it was nearly impossible to think. He wanted more, so much more. “…Sweet?”
“Not an answer.” Macaque said, wiping the dry blood off his chin, “If you want something sweet, have one of the hundreds of treats you’ve tossed into my kitchen- wait, does this has something to do with you licking my leg yesterday?”
Macaque’s face, which had already been tinged slightly purple from the kiss, flushed to a much deeper shade at the memory, and Wukong knew for a fact that, confronted with it now, his own face was probably burning with an equal amount of gold. He’d been kinda hoping that, despite MK bringing it up again for some reason, Macaque had forgotten that whole thing had even happened.
It seemed like his hopes had been in vain.
“Maybe.” He’d muttered it, but it might as well have been a yes with how Macaque’s face suddenly lit up with a smirk despite the blush still covering it- speaking of, said blush was quickly starting to show through the glamours on Macaque’s ears as well, the faint outlines of his extra ears lightly glowing.
“Ah-” There was a tone of realization in Macaque’s voice that Wukong decided right then and there that he didn’t really like- “It’s the magic that you want, isn’t it?”
Oh, Wukong suddenly regretted constantly begging Macaque for a taste of the other’s magic because it was “sweeter than peaches!” way back in the past. Macaque had been quite proud of it back then, seeming to view being ranked as above peaches as something special. Of course the bastard would put the pieces together so damn quick, even over a millenia later.
Wukong let out a defeated groan, taking another step back so that Macaque was no longer trapped against the wall. Macaque adjusted his clothes, blush and smirk still present on his face as he turned and started walking towards the main living area, Wukong slowly trailing along behind him with his arms crossed. Macaque’s tail was swishing back and forth with something that was definitely not agitation, and Wukong couldn’t help but feel that maybe Macaque was getting just a little bit too much enjoyment out of this realization.
Macaque hopped over the back of his couch to sit down on the cushions, and after a moment of hesitation, Wukong followed.
“…It’s not your magic specifically.” He said, grumpily, “It’s just… sugar? But, uh. Nothing else is, um.”
“Fulfilling the craving? Checks out.” Macaque nodded sagely, as though he expected this, and Wukong had to, for the second time in under 24 hours, fight the urge to pick him up and throw him. Macaque seemed to realize he was treading on thin ice, as he quickly broke eye contact. “I mean, it takes an ungodly amount of, well, anything to affect you, it only makes sense you’d need something super sweet as well.”
…Huh. He was right, that did make sense.
It also would maybe explain why the headaches went away after tasting some of Macaque’s insanely sweet magic blood too. It wasn’t some coincidence, it was just Wukong finally getting something akin to the right amount of sugar in himself. The sugar craving wasn’t just his sweet tooth, he actually needs a lot of sugar.
…Probably not a good thing he keeps going extended periods without eating anything, then. Of course, he could probably live without it, obviously, but, well. It felt awful to do so.
(He’d slept away fifty years once, and had felt genuinely and truly horrible once he had woken up. It’d taken three days of eating immortal peaches before he’d started to feel well enough to branch into eating and drinking anything else).
“Well, there’s no real reason to postpone it.” Macaque’s voice drew Wukong back to the present, and he did a double take in shock as he realized that, at some point while he’d been spacing out, Macaque had taken his scarf off. Wukong’s eyes immediately were drawn to Macaque’s collarbone. Macaque smirked at his reaction, and moved forwards, wrapping his scarf around the back of Wukong’s neck, and pulling the Monkey King closer to him, practically on top of him, in fact. Macaque tilted his head slightly to the side to give better access. “Go ahead.”
Wukong blinked for a second in shock, a golden flush on his face, before he smirked.
“Good boy.”
“Wha- no, we’re not doing th-ah!” Macaque cut himself off with a yelp, glamours falling down as Wukong gently sunk his teeth into his shoulder. Wukong let out a slightly muffled laugh at Macaque’s reaction, before biting slightly harder, blood pooling up as Macaque swore from the sting of it. One of Macaque’s hands gripped onto the back of Wukong’s clothes- his other hand gripping the back of Wukong’s head with enough strength to pull on his hair enough for it to slightly hurt, but Wukong didn’t care. He was finally getting the sweetness he’d been craving, and he wasn’t going to let anything distract him from that.
A minute passed, and Macaque slowly started relaxing from how he’d initially tensed, leaning back to be laying down, shivering and yelping whenever Wukong sunk his teeth in deeper again to draw up more magic blood. Wukong leaned closer in to him, letting their tails wrap together. Macaque didn’t even try to say anything of his usually sassy or dramatic nature, for once leaving them both in relatively peaceful near-silence.
The sweet flavour filling the Monkey King’s mouth tasted almost like bliss.
Slowly, Wukong pulled back a small bit. The craving had been satiated, fading to the back of his mind as he licked his lips, clarity starting to come back to him.
Macaque’s shoulder looked like a bloody mess.
He gave it a tiny, gentle lick, savouring the taste on his tongue for a few more seconds, before pulling back entirely.
“…I think we might’ve stained your couch.” Wukong said, wiping his mouth, though he was sure he’d only succeeded in smearing the purple blood across his face instead of successfully cleaning it. “And your shirt.”
Macaque didn’t answer, staring at the ceiling while panting, a dazed look in his eyes. Wukong slowly tilted his head in confusion, carefully shifting so that he was no longer on top of him.
“Macaque?” Wukong tried again, “C’mon, we should get you cleaned up. We can go to the Flower Fruit Mountain hot springs- I finished fixing them up a few days ago.”
“…Yeah. Right. Hot springs… sounds nice.” Macaque sounded breathless as he forced himself up and into a sitting position, swinging his legs over and making to stand up and take a step forwards.
He crumpled over, starting to collapse to the ground.
“Woah!” Wukong shot up and grabbed hold of him, Macaque gripping onto him for balance. Wukong was suddenly very aware of the way Macaque was starting to get a little wispy at the edges. “Fuck, did I take too much?”
“Maybe jus’ a bit…” Macaque’s words slurred a little as Wukong helped him sit back down onto the couch. “I’ll be fine, I just, need a sec…”
Wukong gently brushed Macaque’s hair out of his face, before gently tapping the other’s lips.
“Is it okay if I…?”
“…Mm.” Macaque made a sound of consent, so Wukong gently pressed their lips together, a golden glow enveloping the both of them as he closed his eyes and drew back on how they used to share magic.
(Passing it through a kiss was a lot easier than getting it from blood, but, well, Macaque’s magic was too closely tied to him now for him to do such a thing anymore.
…Plus you couldn’t really taste it this way).
When Wukong next opened his eyes, Macaque still looked a bit dazed, but he at least wasn’t wispy at the edges anymore. Pulling back, he held back as much of his strength as possible and lightly flicked Macaque directly in the middle of his forehead.
“Next time, tell me when I start taking too much.” Wukong said, ignoring Macaque’s pained grumbling. “Now, lets get you fixed up- you still okay with the hot springs?”
“I could use a bit of a soak- wait. How are we going to-” Macaque shrieked as a golden flash surrounded them, falling backwards onto the ground with a small sound of pain as they were suddenly teleported to Flower Fruit Mountain.
“Oops. Forgot to warn you.” He absolutely hadn’t- this was his way of paying Macaque back for not telling him important things like the fact that he was taking too much blood. Wait, speaking of blood- “Ah- I forgot the supplies- hold on for a second, alright? Don’t go, like, passing out on me again.”
“I’m not gonna pass out.” Macaque said, even as he put a hand to his head, trying to get the spinning from the sudden teleportation to stop. Wukong raised an eyebrow in doubt at him, but still proceeded to vanish in another flash of golden light, leaving Macaque on the ground staring at the starry sky.
His eyes were just starting to adjust to the natural darkness- when another bright flash of light made him hiss, covering his face.
“I’m back!” Wukong did a little pose as he announced his presence. Macaque just slowly sat up and stared at him with an incredibly unimpressed look. After a few seconds of awkward silence, Wukong coughed, setting the basket of items on the ground down beside the other. “So, um. I realized between there and here that uh- well, I was gonna bandage your shoulder, but, you’re not meant to get bandages wet, and we’re gonna go in the hot springs, so um-”
“Just put some spell on them to keep them dry or whatever.” Macaque rolled his eyes, as though this was the most obvious thing in the world, as he shrugged off his sleeve to give Wukong better access to his shoulder. Wukong knelt down beside him, bandages in his hands, and then hesitated.
“…Wukong-” Macaque started, and then sighed as Wukong leaned down and licked some more blood off of Macaque’s shoulder. “Seriously? I thought you were done with that.”
“I just wanted one more little taste.” Wukong pulled back, grabbing a small hand towel and dipping it into the hot spring, using it to gently wipe the rest of the blood away. The bite marks were already starting to heal, the skin already starting to scab over. Wukong wrapped some bandages on top of it anyways. There would probably be more steps he’d have to do for this if Macaque was human, but, well, he wasn’t, so this should suffice.
“Hurry it up, I wanna get in the water, it’s cold out here.” Macaque said, his tail swishing a little in agitation. Wukong huffed out a small laugh at his impatience, summoning a golden magic circle to his fingertips, which he then pressed against the bandages to imbue them with the spell. He repeated the process for the bandages on Macaque’s leg, and then turned away to put the bandage roll back in the basket he’d brought.
A splash had him turning around to find that where Macaque had been, there was now only his clothes on the ground, the other monkey demon having already made his way into the hot springs. He’d done that so fast, how-
“Ough, headrush…” One of Macaque’s hands shot out to grip a nearby rock, seemingly for support, while the other went up to his forehead, his ears flicking. He looked a little bit wispy again.
Oh. He must’ve used his magic to shadowshift out of his clothes and portal into the water. He knew full well he was low on magic power right now, why on Earth would he-
(It suddenly occurred to Wukong, that, y’know what, maybe putting someone who was recently experiencing something akin to blood loss into hot water was possibly… not a good decision).
“I can hear you thinking.” Macaque mumbled, shifting a little to glare at him. “Just hurry up and get in here.”
A few seconds later had Macaque loudly swearing as Wukong jumped into the hot spring, splashing the other with warm water.
“Seriously?!” Macaque spluttered, coughing as a bit of water made it’s way into his mouth. “Can’t you just enter the water like a normal perso-mM!”
Water splashed over the edge of the hot spring as Wukong cut him off by grabbing the sides of Macaque’s head, climbing onto the other’s lap in one swift motion and pressing their lips together. Macaque made a muffled noise of protest, before his eyes slowly slid closed, his hands finding their way to rest on Wukong’s shoulders as the Monkey King shared more of his endless magic with him. Wukong tilted his head, pulling back before pressing a kiss to the corner of Macaque’s mouth, then his cheek- and then his ear.
Macaque did a full body shiver as Wukong kept his lips pressed against one of the other’s glowing six ears. When Macaque didn’t have any further reaction, Wukong opened his mouth slightly, and softly bit down.
Unlike the previous bites, it wasn’t enough to draw up blood, but it was enough to make Macaque let out a quite frankly pitiful sounding noise, tail thrashing, causing more water to spill out onto the rocks. Wukong chuckled, the sensation of his breath against his ear making all of Macaque’s ears twitch. Wukong seemed to take that as a sign to purposefully blow a breath of air onto Macaque’s ear, making Macaque yelp and shove him back.
“Stop that! And, must- must you keep interrupting me mid-sentence?” He said, “Seriously, you’ve done it like three times.”
“But what if I like the sound you make when I catch you off guard, Sugarplum?” If Macaque hadn’t already been flushed to the tips of his ears, purple blush glowing brightly, Wukong dropping that nickname of all things would’ve been enough to make him blush violently.
“Wuko- …P-Peaches, you can’t just-”
“Can’t just what?” Wukong pressed their foreheads together, smirking as he stared directly into Macaque’s eyes. “C’mon, I’m on a bit of sugar high right now, you gotta let me have some fun- hey!”
Macaque roughly shoved Wukong back, making him slip and fall underwater for a few seconds. When he came back up, he made a frustrated noise as he tried to push his wet hair out of his face so he could see again.
“Did you have to do tha- woah!” Wukong stumbled backwards, his back hitting the side of the hot spring as his hands grabbed Macaque to stabilize him as the other suddenly surged forwards, wrapping his arms around Wukong’s neck as he kissed him. Wukong’s hands slipped down to Macaque’s hips, quickly adjusting their position into something more comfortable as Macaque tried to press himself as close to him as possible. After a few seconds, Wukong hummed, turning his head to the side to break the kiss. Macaque quickly moved to press his lips to Wukong’s neck instead. Wukong let out a breathy giggle- “Is this your idea of revenge?”
Macaque’s response was to wrap his tail around Wukong’s own under the water, kissing up the side of Wukong’s neck, to his cheek, and then back to his lips. Wukong let him, smirking into it-
And then he let go of Macaque’s hips, one of his hands going to rest in the middle of Macaque’s back, the other going to the back of the other’s head, as he shifted his weight and dipped him, Macaque letting out a muffled squeak against Wukong’s lips as he almost went under the water. Wukong pulled back a bit to stare down at Macaque’s shocked face, his black hair flowing in the water, the glow from his ears reflecting in the water in a way that was-
“Beautiful.”
“Oh shut up.” Macaque reached up and grabbed the sides of Wukong’s face, pulling him down to press their lips together again-
Wukong’s feet slipped on the underwater rocks, sending them both under the water. They both resurfaced a few seconds later, coughing on accidentally inhaled water.
“Right.” Wukong said, taking in a wheezing breath, “I think maybe- maybe that’s a sign we should cut it out for now, ha.”
Macaque didn’t verbally respond, instead just silently nodding, leaning against the side of the hot spring and staring up at the stars.
They were silent for a few minutes.
And then Wukong reached over the edge of the hot spring to rummage in the basket he had brought, and pulled out-
“How did you even fit that in there.” Macaque deadpanned, “What are you, some kind of Mary Poppins? There’s no way you fit that in that basket.”
“…Sounds like somebody doesn’t want cake.”
“Now hold on, I didn’t say that-”

Have you ever thought of how The Day The World Eclipsed would be, if you made it with Xiotain and MK. Cause like I could see Wukong being ran ragged by two little toddlers. But then I can also imagine how adorable it would be when Macaque met the twins, the original meet scene was adorable, but like it would be even more adorable! Just a thought I had!
WELL DANG IT!!
-----
Macaque's voice was hoarse as he whispered, "Here? You mean... now?" He had anxiously awaited the chance to meet his child, but he hadn't expected it to happen so quickly!
Wukong acknowledged with a nod, his gaze shifting towards the direction his clone was approaching from. Macaque tensed, his eyes tracking the route into the distance. Though there was no one in sight yet, he could clearly hear their approach.
The sound of the nimbus cloud cutting through the air filled his ears along with the chatter of Wukong's clones, who were busy answering trivial questions. And then he heard something else- the faint beating of two tiny hearts.
He inhaled sharply, startled when chirps filled his ears, consuming his waking breath with their high pitched tone and sweet resonance.
“Two…?” he whispered. He touched his ears, confused and spooked. “I-I hear two??” he looked to Wukong for answers, “Why do I hear two?!”
His ex-partner gave him a puzzled sideways glance, then his lips formed a sheepish smile. "I-I'm sorry Mihou," he stammered, realizing his mistake. In the midst of his excitement and nervousness, he had forgotten to mention a crucial detail about their son's birth. Or should he say, sons? "You thought you heard one heartbeat, but there were actually two," Wukong muttered, his eyes focused on the approaching sounds. "We have twins, Mihou. Beautiful little twins."
"Twins?" Macaque echoed. He took a step back, blinking rapidly as if it would clear the confusion. He had been bracing himself for fatherhood, had been preparing himself for one child, one baby monkey. But two? There was a flutter in his chest that he couldn't describe, an odd mixture of terror and joy. It was too soon. Everything was too sudden. Twins? How could he handle twins?
Just before he could express his worries, Wukong's clone glided into view on a nimbus cloud, swooping around the tree line before landing. The clone dismounted and Macaque quickly slipped behind Wukong's back, hoping to avoid being seen by the curious cubs who were about to appear. Wukong in turn tensed, eyes wide and tail holding perfectly still. He scratched his cheek awkwardly, trying not to smile when he felt Macaque’s hands holding onto his back to steady himself.
“Deep Breathes,” he instructed.
Macaque panted, struggling.
The clone was soon joined by the rest of his fellow clones, each of them grinning with the joy of introducing the two newest members of their family to Macaque. They stood aside to allow Wukong's original body to step forward, making room for him to approach the eagerly chirping young ones, who seemed engulfed in their own little conversation. The toddlers each with their own little backpack, filled with things for their day.
Xiaohua was attempting to descend from the cloud, his pudgy leg reaching out in search of solid ground but coming up short. He chirped a call for his Daddy to help him, all while MK watched curiously. One of the clones stepped closer, scooping Xiaohua up from his arm pits to instead settle him back on the cloud.
“Wait a moment, Bud,” the clone mused. Xiaohua pouted, wanting to explore.
Macaque's heart raced, finding it was hard to breathe. His mind spun with questions, his pulse thrumming in time with the joyful chirps. As Wukong grinned and walked forward, Macaque swallowed hard, his palms sweating against each other as he clutched his ex-partner’s back tighter, half hiding behind him.
"Wukong," Macaque stammered, unable to look at his ex-lover as he tried to calm his erratic heartbeat. "I... I can't, I..."
"Shh, it's okay," Wukong cut in gently, reaching back to squeeze Macaque's hand reassuringly. "You don't need to do anything. Just meet them." there was a small twinkle in his eyes, “They are excited to meet you.”
Macaque sharply lifted his head, “They are…?”
"Of course," Wukong replied warmly. "They've heard so much about their Baba, they can't wait to meet you." He extended his arm out for Macaque to come out.
Macaque hesitated for a moment longer before slowly stepping out from Wukong's back.
His heart thumped against his ribcage as he stood in front of the two tiny monkeys. Their eyes were brimming with innocence and wonder, their features an endearing blend of their parents' traits.
“Oh…” Macaque whimpered, these two everything he thought they would be and more. Macaque touched his chest in awe, happy to just- just stare. They were so small and perfect. One had chocolate brown fur, his eyes as golden as Wukong’s with six little ears on his head like him. On his face was a little heart with a spot of freckles upon his chubby cheeks. The second, had fur almost pure white, like when he himself was little, before it turned black. He had Macaque’s color face marking, that shaped similar to a butterfly. Macaque’s eye brows, Macaque’s eyes… But both had Wukong’s grin.
He made a sound similar to a whimper.
"Dada!" The little one with golden eyes, MK, chimed, breaking the silence. He had noticed his Father and stood, pausing when he saw Macaque. His eyes doubled in size to the stranger and yet- he knew who this was. His Dada had been telling him all week. This was his Baba.
His Baba he was finally getting to meet.
Wukong grinned as he waited for Macaque to speak and introduce himself. Instead, all Macaque did was gape, speechless under the magnitude of the moment. The toddlers were oblivious to how their appearance had turned their Father into a stammering mess, just curious of this new adult.
“Xiaoxiao-” ML reached out for his Brother’s hand, who was still preoccupied by the new land around them, distracted. “Xiaoxiao,” silencing the chippering scamp to also turn his head, MK pointed to their Baba. “Look,” As soon as Xiaohua saw Macaque he ducked his head a little behind his brother, clearly shy.
“Macaque, this is Xiaotian and Xiaohua.” Wukong gestured to them both. “Boys… Meet your Baba.” Wukong added softly, reaching over to gently squeeze Macaque's shoulder. "This is your Father."
The little one with white fur, Xiaohua, peeked up from behind his brother, his eyes wide with a mixture of curiosity and shyness. He'd heard stories about his Baba, tales of bravery and strength and kindness. And now here he was, standing right in front of him, as pretty as the moon.
Macaque sucked in a sharp breath as he looked at them, his heart aching with an overwhelming surge of love. He was entranced by their curious gazes and the familiarity of their features - the softness of their cheeks and eyes. They were perfect. Everything he dreamed they would be. Oh gods-… he was gonna cry.
"Wukong," Macaque managed to choke out, his voice blubbering, "They're... they're beautiful." He reached out a shaky hand, as if to touch them, but quickly retracting it as if he thought he might burn them if he did.
Seeing his struggles, Wukong shifted with his hand to lower the nimbus cloud to the ground, slowly guiding Macaque in the same direction, “Let’s all sit down,” he says gently. Macaque didn’t try to argue, letting himself be lowered to his trembling knees.
The world felt surreal as Macaque settled on the soft grass, the ground cradling him in a way that felt both grounding and weightless at the same time. As he sat there, surrounded by the warmth of Wukong’s presence and the innocent awe radiating from his children, he finally exhaled—a long, shaky breath that released a cascade of emotions he hadn’t known he was holding.
This was real.
This was happening.
He was a Baba.
"Come here, loves," Wukong encouraged softly, motioning for Xiaotian and Xiaohua to join them. The boys looked at each other, sharing a glance. As they debated listening to their Dada, Macaque’s ears flattened, a strange heat on his face.
Wukong’s soft and sweet call to the kids had been… adorably sweet, and it had startled him. They were his loves…
He cursed himself for finding his sweetness to them endearing.
“Coming, Dada,” MK was rolling off the cloud first, a bit braver to strangers then his Brother. He wobbled forward, sniffing the hair with a velvety nose. Xiaohua quickly followed suit, his small face peering up at Macaque from behind MK. As soon as they got close enough to his Dada, realizing MK wasn’t going to stop-, he rushed from behind Xiaotian to Wukong, hiding behind his back just as Macaque had a little bit ago. “Daddy,” he whispered.
Wukong smiles, rubbing Xiaohua’s back assuringly, “Yes?”
The child’s fingers clung tightly to Wukong’s shirt, his eyes never leaving Macaque’s face. “He’s got six ears, Daddy,” he pointed to them.
MK was bouncing, grasping his ears, “Like me!!”
Xiaohua nodded, “Like MK…”
“MK?” Macaque asked, looking at Wukong. Wukong blinked a few times then laughed sheepishly again.
“Like um.. M-Monkey Kid?” he says.
Macaque’s jaw fell open, stunned, yet also not surprised at all that Wukong would name on of their sons after him… AND ADORABLY SO! He clicked his teeth in a clear annoyance, but paused when MK patted his chest.
“Monkey Kid!” he declared, a savior to his Father, who exhaled in relief. “And Xiaoxiao is- uh… Xiaoxiao.”
“I’m Xiaoxiao,” the other toddler nodded, stepping out a bit more, “I-I like- I like Mangos.”
Macaque stared at him, a soft smile spreading across his face. What an innocent thing to say. “Mangos, hm?”
“I like peaches!” MK waved his hands around, getting close enough to stand before his Baba. Without hesitation he was scampering into Macaque’s lap, eager to touch is clothes, his scarf, and the fur of his arms. Macaque held perfectly still, letting the child do as he wished. His lips were squiggly, trying to hold back any tears.
The child smelled like sweetbread and milk, so sweet and eyes so round. He was talking more and more, Macaque bobbing his head and listening intently.
“I like to color, and paint- but I gotta be careful cause-cause I make messes. I help clean messes.” he babbled a few things, most slurred and unable to be fully understood in his toddler talk.
“I-I see,” Macaque nodded, his voice strangled but his smile sweet.
Xiaohua peeked out from behind Wukong, his shyness still evident in the way he tucked his chin. Still, it looked like so much fun over there-, “Daddy, can I… can I sit with Baba too?” His voice was soft, barely above a whisper.
“Of course you can,” Wukong replied, his tone gentle and encouraging. He bent down slightly, offering a reassuring smile that seemed to fill the air with warmth. “Go on, It’s okay.”
Macaque turned his head quickly to the approaching toddler, eyes wide. He swallowed thickly, slowly opening his arm a little in hopes to entice the boy closer.
With hesitant steps, Xiaohua made his way forward, glancing back at Wukong for reassurance before flopping into Macaque's lap beside MK. MK didn’t stop talking the entire time, his tail wagging and slapping at Macaque’s arm with little control.
“And I like juice and toys and- Hi Xiaoxiao- and blankies and—and Dada’s stories!” MK beamed, his enthusiasm spilling over like a bubbling pot.
Xiaohua nestled closer to Macaque, drawn in by the warmth radiating from his Baba. A shy smile broke through his timid demeanor as he clutched the edges of Macaque's scarf, feeling its silky softness between his fingers.
Macaque’s heart swelled with an unfamiliar joy, and it was all he could do not to break into a grin. He felt like a giant in their little world, these tiny beings weaving themselves into his life with laughter and innocence. “Stories, hmm?” he repeated softly, looking between the two boys.
“I like stories,” Xiaohua whispered.
“Do you?” Macaque’s voice was a melody, soothing and rich as he leaned closer to the boys. “What kind of stories do you like?” He closed one of his eyes when MK suddenly touched his cheek, startled when his pudgy hand curiously explored the expanse of his Baba’s face.
“Adventures!” MK shouted excitedly, his eyes sparkling, “Like when Dada fights bad guys and saves everyone!”
“Adventures,” Xiaohua nodded. He reached his little hand up to copy his brother, hesitating. Instead he touched Macaque’s chin lightly, curling his fingers through the fur there.
Macaque turned into his hand a little, eyes fluttering for a moment. Xiaohua smelled like wild mountain flowers…
The two of them together had to be the sweetest smell he had ever encountered.
MK gently patted Macaque’s velvety muzzle. He watched the older monky wiggle his nose in response, and felt his own nose crinkle in anticipation. MK examined Macaque's facial marking next. It was a deeper shade of red than his own, with intricate little hills that forked off from the center in a unique pattern. The color was like Xiaoxiao’s.
Then, there was his fur.
MK’s fingertips ran across the small white patch of fur near Macaque’s right eye. Perhaps age, perhaps stress- perhaps the effects of the Witch's magic; Macaque wasn't sure.
At the touch of it, Mihou flinched, holding his breath as his Child investigated, tilting his head curiously at the altering color of fur. Delving into the blacker tufts, he rubbed the strands between his fingers.
"Its..." he trailed off. Macaque's lower lip trembled, not sure how to explain that his fur just wasn't that soft. MK's eyes lifted, a sparkle to them. "XiaoXiao,” he gasped, as if realizing something and wanting to share with his Brother.
“It’s like blankie,"Xiaoxiao had already caught on, curiously touching Macaque’s fur.
Macaque openly stared. Huh??
MK and Xiaohua tugged themselves closer, tails swaying behind them as they examined their Baba for the first time. Little fingers exploring, searching, mapping out Macaque’s face to memory as they had done with their Dada so many times before.
“They have a blanket,” Wukong spoke, since the children were too distracted to answer, “It’s their favorite thing. I’ve used it since they were babies,” when Macaque looked at him with an emotional look, his voice grew softer, “You remind them of their favorite thing.”
Macaque blinked, the weight of Wukong's words settling over him like a gentle fog. He felt a rush of warmth bloom in his chest, an unfamiliar tightening that tugged at something deep within. "Like their favorite thing," he murmured, more to himself than anyone else. The thought echoed in his mind as he continued to feel the boys' tiny hands traversing the terrain of his fur, discovering every ridge and curve. MK didn’t hesitate to bury his face against Macaque’s shoulder to nuzzle him, startling the older man.
He dare not move, shifted, or lift his arms, less he scare the children- but that didn’t seem to stop them from doing whatever they wished with his own form.
“Baba,” MK tells him, watching Macaque’s eyes tremble at the use of the name, “You smell like chocolate.”
Xiaohua gasped, standing on his Baba’s lap to press his face to his neck. “Chocolate?” he gasped, making Wukong snicker, knowing how much his second son loved the treat, “Chocolate!!” he squealed.
Macaque blinked a few times, trying to sniff his own fur. When Wukong only nodded knowingly, he figured it had to be true.
Macaque stared at his son, mouth agape. His brow furrowed as he opened and closed his mouth in slow motion, unable to find the right words.
MK scampered up Macaque's arm and onto his shoulder, chittering excitedly with an unmistakable tone of acceptance, adoration, and delight. Xiaohua was bouncing, giggling as his shyness fell, touching Macaque’s ears next. He rubbed them, always touching MK’s ears too since they were soft. Macaque felt awash with elation as MK and Xiaohua squeaked in admiration.
He understood nothing that was happening, but his children seemed happy with him. His children... liked him.
Macaque's voice sputtered out like a radio station losing its signal. "MM-hmm," he managed to utter, but his ears betrayed him as they twitched in different directions. His vision blurred...
He quietly cursed.
Macaque’s face crumpled, tears streaming down his cheeks and dripping onto his scarf. His body trembled as the silent sobs wracked him.
Wukong’s broad smile faded as he watched those heartbreaking tears. His heart yearned to reach out and brush away the tears that had started to roll down Mihou's cheeks, but he stayed rooted in his spot, feeling helpless. He wanted to offer Mihou comfort, yet his presence seemed like the last thing Mihou desired.
“Oo…” Xiaohua felt a droplet fall onto his nose and looked up to see the monkey's eyes closed, face wet and quivering. His chest heaved with emotion as his children reached up and tenderly patted his stained cheek. “Baba sad?” Xiaohua asked. He got a little closer, hugging the man and pressing his head to his chest. MK hugged Macaque’s head, patting it.
“Shh..shh..” He leaned up and gently pressed his lips to Macaque's chin, just like his Dada had done when he was feeling down.
Macaque's shoulders sagged, and a whimper escaped his lips. He tugged the boys further into his arms, his hands trembling.
His sons. His babies.
He was never letting them go again.

Macaque is big spoon
Tumblr media
Lol the old men be snoozin and snugglin
(I was about to say sleeping but my mind is too dirty for that unfortunately-)
Y'wanna know why he big spoon?
Tumblr media
The sun and moon thingy they have going on and...
Tumblr media
Ehh, ehh? Y'see what I did there?
I hate fabric so god damn much.
WHY CAN'T YOU BEHAVE AND STAY STILL GODDAMN.
WHY MUST YOU CREASE AND HAVE LAYERS?!!? WHY CAN'T YOU BE SIMPLE AND FLAT
SAME WITH MACACA'S FUR.
WHY ARE YOU BLACK?!! HOW DO I RENDER YOU
TO QUOTE MY PAST SELF: "his true evil power is how hard he can be to draw"
LIKE MY DUDE. HOWWWWW.
Regardless, I'm still really happy with how the drawing came out like the lighting and stuff (just don't look at the fabric-)
Wukong couldn't give less than a flying f*ck if his pajamas matched. Like he's at home, let him be as much of a fashion disaster as he wants!
Heck, back in his day, he was prancing with a leaf skirt and that was acceptable, let the monkey be damnit.
But he would own something very funky like those peach shorts but specifically wear them on break days or in private
(Mac definitely made an inappropriate joke bout it; he has a mark you could read the king's fortune off of, on his right cheek-)
Mac loves his clouds cloudy king so sure, slap them on his pants I think he'd have those long fluffy or silky pajama pants and he like has a couple he switches out for every now and them.
Wukong struck me as a big shirt, short shorts guy
and Mac'doodles as a small shirt, big pants
On a more angsty note, after death I think he'd be a lot colder like its harder to generate body heat naturally so he'd be a lot more cuddly with his toasted marshmallow king cause he was literally toasty fried for 49 days in heaven (49 earth years if 1 year in heaven is a year belief is true)
I was really debating if they'd be in a tree like normal monkeys or in the stone palace cause like that's a whole thing.
Wukong is not only a king in name, he's got riches and a whole ass stone mansion, I want my boi to one day overcome his guilt and indesire for self care and move into the big boi house with his husbando...one day.
But until then, a girl can dream.
Cause come on, that'd be cool. I understand it'd feel real lonely without the stalwart generals and brotherhood but like he has new company and rekindling with his warrior might help with that.
I also think they'd rather sleep in a cozy lil alclove or like the beds in historical c-dramas that are kinda built in and they build a mini nest of sorts.
I was going to draw the monkeys but tbh, just wasn't feelin it...
Also wanted their tails to make a heart but the lil pointy bit always bugs me so I tried to make it into a more plausible scenario
And irl updates, I have been like formally rehearsing for a performance all week (as in a play) and practicing all day, just watched the 1st cast do it and its my turn tomorrow so wish me luck!
(btw I'm working with young kids, like 8-12 young and they all congregated around me when they saw me drawing like I was a glorified babysitter
And the amount of times I had to put the message on Mac's shirt on a different layer and hide it like bruh. The kids are lovely and all and I'd be happy to show my work but as you can see...not all of my works are...100% PG)
(pls reblog and feedback and stuff, I worked hard on this plss I beg...)

Heyo! Would it be okay to request a clingy Macaque x m!reader? Like the readers just doing their own thing and then Macaque just spawns from the shadows to crave attention?
🌙ClingyMacaque x reader🌙
Tumblr media
AN: Of course! This prompt helped me get out of my writers block I had unintentionally gained for Macaque so thank you so much! >:D
(also, I’m not the proudest of this so please feel free to leave constructive criticism!)
______________________________________________________________
>🌙Whenever Macaque got clingy, he never tried to hide it. Why would he? He knows he gets cuddle and kissing rights to the most amazing human in the world, so why wouldn’t he use them?
>whenever he’s in a clingy mood he almost always wraps his tail around your waist, hope you didn’t have plans because your stuck with him for a long while ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ don’t know what to tell ya
>He gets super jealous when he’s clingy as well. It gets to the point where whenever you talk with anyone who isn’t him, he gets super protective, puffing up his fur to try to look as big as possible, rubbing his head against you to try to get you to smell like him, etc
>Dont even try to talk to Wukong whenever Macaque’s clingy, he’ll immediately grab you and use his shadow to teleport you away from the other monkey demon
>Afterward, he would all offended like he had just caught you cheating or something
>🌙Dont even get me started if your on your phone or something while he’s around, since he will immediately just yank it away with his tail as he wraps his arms around you and pull you against his chest
>Doesnt matter what you were doing and if it was important or not, all that matters now is the fact that he gets to cuddle you now
>If you’re ever hungry or need to get up to do something, this man is acting like your shadow. 24-7. Never letting you have alone time
>If you ever need to use the bathroom he’ll definitely complain
>“Ugh, can’t you just hold it??”
>Dont worry, he will let you do your business eventually, although he will 100% wait outside of the bathroom door, fiddling his thumbs and asking “Are you done yet?” Every five seconds
______________________________________________________________ Sorry this is so short!! I’m still trying to get into the rhythm of writing again!

───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────
❝ A sweet tooth for you, I'm wide awake .❞
Your tail vibrates excitedly as the timer goes off, alerting you that the mango pudding is done chilling. Grinning widely, you almost run to your fridge, throwing open the door and crouching to pull the cooled dessert out. You take a deep whiff as you wander back to the counter, shutting the fridge door with a bump of your hip. It smells heavenly, and an experimental shake of the pan leads you to believe the sweet treat has successfully set.
You set down the pudding and turn to the dishes, rinsing them in the sink and leaving them in the basin to be properly washed later. As you scratch a particularly stubborn splash of dried pudding from the whisk, you look over at your oven, squinting to read the numbers displayed.
5:47.
"Ah, shit," you hiss under your breath, finishing up with the whisk and nearly tossing it into the basin.
I'm going to be late! you fret as you pull off your apron, throwing it upon the counter as you rush to your bedroom to pull on your outfit: a simple white turtleneck over a soft long-sleeve and high-waisted pants, complemented with long socks and short, buckled heels. Once you finish with your outfit and additional accessories, you grab a basket on your way out of your room and quickly fill it with cutlery, cubed mangoes, sugar, and of course, the pudding.
You pause for a second, ears flicking about as you try to make sure you haven't forgotten anything. Your time is cut short as another alarm sings out on your phone.
You squeak, shoving your phone into your pocket and spinning on your heel as you race out of your home, narrowly keeping the basket from slapping against your side.
──────────────
You're fairly certain the only reason Macaque doesn't snap at you slamming the dojo doors is because he heard you coming.
He's curled up on his couch, a hefty book in his lap—probably about something medicinal or historical if you had to guess. Your eyes flicker to his face, scowling as you see his signature smirk, golden-brown eyes scanning your hunched-over figure in amusement.
"Look what the cat dragged in," purrs the demon.
"You—hah—think you're soooo funny," you grit out, shuffling to the couch with a glare.
"When aren't I?" Macaque asks.
The monkey slaps his tail across your face before you can recite the "a" portion of your alphabetized list.
"How come you're so late today?" he teases. "Normally you're here before I am."
You roll your eyes and give a half-hearted bite to the demon's tail, barely grazing the fur, but he pulls it away with a narrowed gaze anyway. You give him a dramatically sweet face, fluttering your lashes as you set your basket on the table.
You make a lazy gesture at it. "I made something for us."
"Oh?" Macaque asks, cocking an eyebrow. "How romantic, starlight."
For a split second, you consider letting your embarrassment at the implication get to you. But then you decide if Macaque wants to be a little evil, you may as well join him.
"Only the best for you, moonflower," you coo back, revelling in the way the black-furred monkey's face heats up around his spiked mask. You immediately laugh at his blush, far more elated at your ability to fluster the stoic demon than you think is normal, adoring the way his ears wiggle as though trying to hide his face.
"Laugh it up, kitty," he grumbles, reaching out for the basket.
You lunge forward and smack his hand before his claw tips so much as brush the handles. "Nu-uh! That's for after dinner, loser."
Macaque frowns and squints at you, shaking his hand and blowing on it dramatically. "What are you, five?"
"Out of five~!" You sing-song, scooping up the basket as you jump to your feet. "Now get cooking, Macaroni."
──────────────
When Macaque announces the food's almost done, you decide to raid his wardrobe for pajamas.
You zoom up the stairs before he can say a word, but to your surprise, he doesn't make so much as a sigh as your thundering footsteps fade into his room.
It's weird. Normally Macaque always whines about you snagging his clothes, complaining about the pastry stains or endless amounts of cat hair that ends up on them—which is a small price to pay when you're constantly making him yummy treats!—but tonight he's oddly quiet.
Come to think of it... he's been acting off for a while.
You noticed it last month. Your time spent with the monkey had turned more... hm, physical. He seemed to have a sudden interest in training, teaching you how to make certain foods, dancing, even cuddling, interestingly enough. And amongst his standard sarcasm and snark, he was complimenting you a lot more, too. You'd even started finding little trinkets around your house! So unless someone else with a penchant for purple aesthetics was breaking into your house to leave you jewelry and pretty flowers, it had to be Macaque.
But simultaneously, Macaque seemed to be... distancing himself. A canceled plan here and there, an excuse to leave the room every now and then, a strange new sense of secrecy within the demon, as though he was guarding something from you—like he was afraid of you coming too close all over again.
It was so confusing. If you allowed yourself to consider the possibility that the demon had fallen for you of all people, what were you supposed to make of his behavior? That he found the notion of liking you silly, or maybe he hated it, and he was torn between making a game of it or completely pushing you away?
The thought strikes you right in the chest, your bottom lip falling victim to your sharp teeth.
Just recently you'd come to terms with just how much you really like the monkey—how much you love the sound of his voice and the way he drags you into trouble and his devotedness to you as a friend. It'd been an catastrophic realization, really, one that left you tossing and turning in bed and damn near ripping your fur out.
How could you be blamed? Macaque was hardened like stone in the aftermath of his past, making him closed-off and apathetic; a "lone wolf" in spite of his nature. It'd taken so, so much time and patience to get to where you two were now, laughing and poking fun at each other in his dojo, his safe space.
The last thing you want is to lose everything because your silly heart loves tragedies.
"Starlight!" Macaque's sharp call comes from downstairs, making you jump. "The hell are you doing? I said dinner's done!"
"Ack—I'm coming, just a minute!"
You quickly throw on a loose shirt and shorts, struggling a bit with the hole for your tail before finally settling the limb and bounding out of the room. Immediately, an aroma of deliciousness hits your nose. You almost stumble down the stairs due to the distraction, righting yourself with an embarrassed flush (boy, are you glad Macaque didn't see that) and carefully making your way into the kitchen.
Your eyes widen at what you see. A large bowl of chǎofàn sits at the table, neighbored by a plate of tángcù lǐjǐ and another of xiǎolóngbāo. The scent is divine, and you would call the meal a gift from Buddha if it weren't for the smirking demon leaning against the counter.
"Like what you see?" he asks cockily, tail sweeping against the ground in a lazy sway.
"No way you just made all of this!" you exclaim, grinning.
"Maybe I'm just that good," replies the black-furred monkey with a wink, fetching two plates and some silverware out of various cupboards and drawers.
"Not that good," you snort, grabbing your basket from the fridge. "Come on, what's the trick this time, moonflower?"
The demon falls strangely silent at your question. You raise an eyebrow at his back, waiting for a response. Finally, in an uncharacteristically small voice, Macaque says, "I've been preparing."
There's more to it. There's definitely more to it, but you'll be merciful and not push any further.
You set the basket down on the floor and take the plate held out to you, happily filling it up before moving to your seat. Macaque joins you on the opposite side, silent save for the short scraping sound of silverware against glass. The uncomfortable silence threatens to spoil your appetite, and you spend a few quiet minutes praying that the demon across from you will say something.
"Is it good?"
Thank Buddha, you think, immediately put at ease to hear his voice.
"Duh," you say, swallowing another forkful of delicious food. "Your cooking is some of the best I've ever had."
"Oh really?" Macaque leans forward on his elbows, hands laced under his chin, and you feel your face warm ever-so-slightly. "Then where do I rank, starlight?"
"Top ten at least," you tease, reaching for more chǎofàn. Macaque unlaces a hand to pick up the bowl and pass it to you.
"At least," he chuckles. "Well, eat up. I have a play to put on."
"A play?" You repeat, cheeks round with rice.
Macaque nods. "Yes." Quickly, he adds, "for you."
You very nearly make a quip about the romance of dinner and a show, but seeing his tail tense and thud against the floor makes you reconsider.
Instead, you smile. "I'll be there."
The monkey snorts. "Where else would you be?" Then, "if you stand me up for rice and chicken, I'll never make it again."
You fake an angry grumble. "Don't you have to go prepare, smart guy?"
He blinks. Once. Twice.
"Oh," he says, simply at first. Then his eyes widen. "Oh, yes! I have to—there are things I have to—I'm going now." Macaque cuts his rambling short and just barely avoids sprinting out of the kitchen like his tail is on fire.
"Don't—" you cringe at the sound of something falling, followed by a quiet yelp. "—hurt yourself on the way out..."
──────────────
You sit amongst soft blankets and pillows, tails curled around your knees as you wait for the play to start. The light of Macaque's lantern bathes the dojo in a violet hue, shadows dancing with the sway of it as Macaque gets into position. The monkey's innate shadow powers and connection to the artifact make it easy to manipulate it and the dark for his purposes, so part of you is confused that Macaque settles himself so far away from you. You reason that maybe the demon's just feeling extra dramatic for this story.
Or maybe this is it, you think.
You don't know what that means—your stomach twists all the same.
"Welcome viewer, to a shadow play the likes of which have never been seen."
You smile at the signature opening line, a soft purr rumbling in your throat as you listen closely, ears perked in Macaque's direction.
"Here we follow another tale about the tragic Warrior." Macaque's voice reverberates around you, and you watch as a simplified silhouette of hi—ahem, "the Warrior" manifests from the shadows. "Though this story is unlike the others—for instead of our Warrior bearing yet another arduous chapter of life, perhaps he has found his happy end.
"Everyone knows the tale of how the Sun came to betray the Moon. But what very few have to come to learn is that it was the Moon that brought on such a tragedy. You see, many centuries ago, the Moon could only see their dark side—blemished, indecipherable, and lacking in light. So often the moon thought of their dark side and wept, believing that if it was all they saw, it was all anyone could see. And then the Moon realized something. They were the Sun's only companion, their only friend, so surely, surely, the Sun would give their light to them.
"And at first, the Sun did everything they could to show the Moon just how bright they could be. The Sun taught the Moon everything they knew, and the Moon took that knowledge and taught it to others, becoming a beloved warrior. And when the Moon became the Warrior, they changed the Sun into a Hero—a well-shaped, perfect vessel of holiness and goodness.
"The Sun allowed this because they loved the Warrior, so they locked themselves within the Hero. And while the Warrior loved the Hero very much, they were so blinded by love for their light that they didn't see what they were doing to their beloved Sun.
"Years passed and the Warrior had taken almost every bit of sunlight. Only their heart and a small sliver remained, which the Sun branded on to the Hero's golden cudgel and hid beneath stone so the Warrior could not find it. This angered the Warrior, who still could not see what they'd done to the Sun, for they were so hidden within the Hero. He said, "my Hero! Why do you hide your light from me? Is it not mine, too? Have I not helped you shine?"
"The Hero replied, "I hide nothing from you, my Warrior, certainly not our light. I simply have no more to give you."
"The Warrior was displeased, and this displeasure, coupled with the dimming Sun, poisoned their light until nothing remained but a thin halo around the two of them.
"This terrified the Warrior—to see that they were so close to becoming the Moon again, so close to being consumed by their dark side, that they demanded the Hero give them their heart. Only this time, the Hero refused.
""You are not a hero," spat the Warrior. "And you are no longer a warrior," whispered the Hero. The Warrior was very angry, so they attempted to swallow the Sun itself. They peeled away the Hero's stone body to reveal the blazing heart beneath, fully intent to rob them of every last bit of light they had, even if it meant they'd never shine again.
"The Sun broke free of the Hero's perfect body, and, using the light on the golden cudgel, banished the Warrior to a place of no light. No stars. No song. Only darkness.
"A place where the Moon could no longer hide."
While you've never heard the story portrayed this way, you find it heartbreakingly easy to tell he's talking about his death and descent into Diyu. You fiddle with your hands, pressing on the paw pads as you stare, watching the Warrior turn into wisps as a glowing mass of shadows (the Sun?) form into a tendril and strikes them.
It's almost too much to watch, your brain caught up in what preceded Macaque's death. Is this why he's been so nervous? It would make sense—this version of the tale makes him vulnerable to say the least, and it's oozing with painful, regretful honesty. The truth has never been easy for him, so you can't imagine the strength it's taking him to preform this.
The scene changes, shifting in a quick montage.
"For centuries, the Moon rotted in their anger and sorrow. So angry were they that they allowed themselves to be hung from strings like a simple puppet, used as a weapon to harm undeserving victims."
Flashes of burned and otherwise destroyed villages wrap around the dojo, all with a chained Macaque hovering above, eyes burning. The last image you recognize as the Monkie Kid and his group. A shadowy tendril wraps around the kid's limbs, attached to him in a similar way to Macaque's chains. Your stomach twists.
"Even when the Moon finally relinquished their fury and reconciled with the Sun, they still could not find it in them to shine. They'd ruined the Warrior many years ago, and they still couldn't believe the Moon would be any good.
"...or so they thought. One day, the Moon came across a maiden. She was gentle and wild; unapologetic, unwavering, and bold. She was a mountain who stood unblinking before the weight of the Moon's darkness.
"The Moon thought they were doomed to break her, as they so often did to strong things. But then the Maiden produced a mooncake from her robes, split it in half, and said, "Would you share this treat with me, pretty Moon?""
A feminine silhouette appears before the Warrior, dressed in a flowing hanfu and flowers. Most interestingly, the Maiden has tufted ears and a long, fluffy tail just like—
Your face erupts in a shocked blush as understanding dawns on you.
The first time you met Macaque, you'd been out selling mooncakes. It'd been a good day, and by the end you had a single treat left, which you fully intended to scarf down while watching the sun set. But then you'd seen him, leaning against a bridge and watching the reflection of the sun in the river, and he just looked so sad, you thought a mooncake would add a little brightness to his face.
A pity cake it might have been, but you think it was one of the best pity cakes you've ever dolled out.
"The Moon took the Maiden's gift. Together, the two ate at their cakes until they were naught but crumbs and the sun had long set. Before they parted, the Maiden smiled at the Moon.
"And the Moon glowed.
"The Moon glowed so bright that moonlight showed through the craters in their skin, that the stars came down to twinkle in their fur and the sweetest dreams whispered in their ears. For once, the Moon was something shining, something bright, and at last they understood: they had needed someone to glow for, not because of.
"For weeks, the Moon and the Maiden continued to meet. The Moon continued to glow, feeling more and more like the great warrior they once were. But what is a warrior without a home to return to?
The shadows merge into a single ball, gliding towards you and settling before you. The ball reforms, revealing Macaque kneeling in front of you, your hands held gently in his. But what really catches your eye is his glamour—or lack thereof. His six ears, the reason for his namesake, unfurl from his head like flower petals, glowing with shades of blue, pink, and purple that illuminate both of your faces. His fur lengths, shaggy and a little rough-looking; a white halo of fur surrounds his face, shimmering in the soft light.
His eye, blind though it may be, is milky and spotted like the bright side of the moon and you can't help but think it's the most gorgeous thing you've ever seen.
"And now to discover how this story ends," he says softly.
"Macaque—" you begin, only to fall silent when he squeezes your hands.
"I know I'm not a hero," Macaque says. "I think I might always be a little... bad—a trickster, a bit of a thief, a bully every now and then; a shadow of something good. But you make me feel... real. Like I can be something more, something people can love without getting hurt, and I haven't felt that in a long, long time, starlight."
You blink, feeling something wet tease the corner of your eyes. Your heart thumps in your chest, tail unfurling from your knees and reaching out. Macaque meets it halfway and they curl around each other like ribbons.
"I love you," Macaque whispers. Louder, he says it again, and you shiver when he says your name. "I love you, and if you'll have me, I'll be yours for as long as you want me."
Your mouth feels dry, your body nearly numb with—what, shock? Excitement? Happiness? Exhaustion because you're feeling all the things?
Probably.
But still, your heart swells at the confession and your hands slip from his to cradle his face and you say, "I love you too, Macaque."
Macaque grins, eyes shining wetly. His hands go to your cheeks, thumbs brushing under your eyes. His ears flap against your hands for a second, and then he whispers, "can I kiss you?"
Your heart nearly explodes. But you give nothing away as you utter a soft, "yes."
You're not quite sure what to expect when his lips meet yours. Fireworks, or maybe like a puzzle piece is shifting into place. You think you can safely say you feel neither, but you do feel both of your growing smiles, until you're pulling away to laugh and Macaque follows suit.
When your giggles die down, you pet the demon's ears again. "You wanna have dessert now?"
The black-furred monkey huffs, leaning into your touch. "In a minute," he murmurs, and then he's bringing you back to his lips.
❝ I like you—say it back .❞

LMK Wukong x (kitsune) reader
TW: asian mythology, slight spoilers for JTTW, possible ooc, slight (onesided) rival/enemies who are lovers, jealousy, tickling, etc..
CW: LMK Sun Wukong, Sun Wukong in general, lmk main cast (Aka MK and Macaque being mentioned loosely), etc..
˚*•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙*˚*·̩̩̥͙ ˚*•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙*˚*·̩̩̥͙ ˚*•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙*˚*·̩̩̥͙ ˚*•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙*˚*·̩̩̥͙ ˚*•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙*˚
-Due to your kitsune nature, you meet Sun Wukong because you wanted to play a few tricks on Tripitaka when you noticed him (which was a habit of yours) only to be stopped by Sun Wukong who basically shooed you away by shapeshifting into a dog to scare you off which worked…. Sorta? You did come back multiple times, but this time you just teased the simian.
-But, now currently (LMK timeline), you often visited Sun Wukong much to his dismay. The first time, you were in your fox form and sitting on MK’s shoulder, pretending to a normal fox because you knew it would anger the oh so great monkey king off. But, as the time passed, you sorta just used your humanoid(?) form more.
-Very jealous, gets incredibly angry whenever you shift to your fox form because he knows people just want to fluff your tails which you allow. You’re almost as worse as Macaque..
-Yes, you two do cuddle together, mostly sunbathing together—but Wukong would rather kill himself than admit that. Of course, you do allow him to touch your tail(s). Speaking of tails, your nine tails come in handy often! Most of the time, you use them to hold Wukong still so you can tickle him!
-Whenever it snows in this mountain, he lets you hang around since he knows you’ll jump into the snow and roll around it.. which he’ll join too.
-Long story short? You two are adorable:3!!

Ahhh your lmk comic is amazing!!! Pls let me ramble a little, sorry advanced for a lot of reading-
Everything in the comic is so wonderfully written and clever, details like Macaque still afraid that MK hadn’t forgiven him even when Wukong said the opposite, I love that it wasn’t just a quick conversation solved everything. Ofc nothing short of a kaiju transformation was going to change Macaque’s mind. And after all that I just know this conversation won’t be over, this was only the start XD
Another detail I really liked was Wukong trying to stop MK from following Macaque thinking it’s too dangerous, Wukong himself still too afraid to push Macaque too far since they’re not there yet in their relationship, afraid of getting rejected again even when they’re talking again and on good terms/ this has happened before and hadn’t ended well for either of them- while MK trusted with his whole heart and went after Macaque.
It even tied in with Macaque’s lesson that he didn’t have to summon the Kaiju form when angry! This is the second time MK has used this form and instead of using to attack it’s used for comfort. And the trust too of Macaque letting MK in when before it might’ve not been that way. Ofc he wouldn’t ever hurt the kid but there’s communication now!
Especially the drawn details!!!
Like when Macaque flinches when MK transforms we’re on the side with his scar(I see you-) and a hug is so unexpected for everyone!! There needs to be more hugs!! The use of physical touch for comfort in this comic is immaculate, MK returning it the hug when his dad’s have hugged him, leaned against him, and held his hands when he’s needed the comfort!! Heartbreaking too Macaque would just brace for a hit, expecting nothing but pain, he didn’t move to defend- he even put his arms down!!
And I adore that MK is still a baby in his kaiju form!! Still smaller than dad. Or he looks smaller to me, I might be wrong! But it’s still a detail I noticed of MK shifting to match Macaque’s level. I love too the shadow bandages wrap around MK, similar to his tails wrapping around Macaque to complete the hug.
(And the live Wukong reaction??? Omg)
It’s also a nice detail as well that Wukong hadn’t felt the need to step in, letting the both of them talk first.
Just everything about the comic is handled with such care, this long ramble might’ve been silly or some of the things I pointed out are obvious but it’s still things I noticed and really liked!!
I honestly come in to check if there’s a new update everyday now, thank you so much for drawing out such a wonderful idea!! :D
AWWWW ok srsly Imma about to cry ;_;
tysm for this whole message, it was super heartwarming and I appreciated it smm that someone read in all the small details I out into the comic, makes me wanna keep doing them with the same care everytime.
I don't know how long this AU will last so I hope the gay monkies will lend me their power of inspirations to keep drawing / writing.
Thank you again!!
