"....." The poor fox woman was snickering hard. She honestly didn't know how to reply for a few moments because she was trying so hard not to laugh, covering her mouth with her hands a little bit. When she finally recovered enough to talk, she stared Fuery right in the eyes, her lips pulled up in a shit-eating grin.

"Well, for one thing, he'd probably take his first minute to wonder who the hell had done it." She grinned at her co-conspirator ever-wider, looking more amused than she had in a while, sapphire eyes gleaming with the moment's hilarity. "And then he'd probably look over his apartment, devoid of any and all amusement. He would never be able to recover. Maybe he'd even scowl a little bit." The image of Roy in her head was worth a thousand scowls from him. And she lost it again, putting her arms over her stomach as she laughed hard. She couldn't contain her mirth this time, which was evident in how she ultimately doubled over.

"Oh my God, he'd be so mad. And probably really impressed with someone taking the time to actually pull this prank off." She was smiling now, a wide one, and absolutely enjoying the thought of maybe actually putting this prank into the works. Oh, it would be absolutely hilarious to see Roy flabbergasted over not being able to exit his home without making a huge mess.

"But it would work even better if we left his room untouched. That way he's not expecting it when he opens the bedroom door to find his hallway covered so that he can't leave the room. At all." Even if that meant they'd have to clean up when Roy inevitably decided to just knock everything over so he could leave his apartment for the day.

working on lineups n character designs & truly i dont like automatically making Book Characters who are Never Explicitly Described white like. ive gotten into the habit of Not doing that which i think is a good habit. but also the two aftg mcs are,,,, insanely fucked up w/ specifically a lot of violence/abuse/organized crime/horrific shit irt parental figures & environments they grew up in. and. i would b extremely uncomfortable w/ racializing that. so. shrug.

“Sweetheart, help! Aggro’s tryin’ to get a fast one in, and I can’t block the stove and the mixer!”

“I’m in the bathroom!” they holler from down the hall. “You’re the shifter here; show him who’s boss. Remind him who’s the apex predator!” In response, and it is definitely in response as Aggro is scarily smart for a cat, he hisses in Milo’s direction while inching towards the whirring stand mixer filled with fluffy egg whites.

“I don’t even know if you can eat that!” he yells, trying to shoo the feline off the counter with his foot while also vigorously stirring the pot of hot, boiling agar. “You won’t even like it, and you won’t like the bath you’ll have to get if you try it.”

“Is your daddy threatening you~?” Sweetheart coos lovingly, coming into the kitchen and scooping Aggro up in their arms. “Is he being mean to my baby?” Their cat purrs loudly in assent, tail affectionately caressing the stealth’s cheek as they kiss his furry ears.

“You’re the fuckin’ worst,” Milo says with a hiss and a laugh, elbowing them out of the way as he slows the machine and streams the molten sugar down the side of the bowl. “And that means you, shitstarter. No marshmallows for you.”

“Bullshit, you like me sugared up and full.”

“I don’t know if I like you period, all the lip you give me.” Sweetheart bumps his hip with theirs, and Milo bumps back harder, blowing a raspberry at Aggro when the cat yowls, offended.

“You love me.”

“I love you to hell and back, Sweetheart,” Milo says, putting the empty pot down and pulling them close for a deep kiss. Aggro jumps out of their arms and stalks between their legs hungry, unattended, and peevish. “But if I get one lick of cat hair in my famous, homemade marshmallows and hear shit from Ma, you and Aggie are sleepin’ on the couch.”

More Heart of Penumbra designwork commissioned by @featheredbeardog - these five are the main characters. Chosen ones destined by fate to restore balance to their world and all that, you know the drill.

Kojin already felt smothered by his very average familial expectations before the whole "chosen one" thing happened. His heart is in the right place, but he's a pessimistic and defensive guy and has some growing up to do.

Bhumi is the unofficial team leader - she sees herself as the only one here who's mature enough for the job, which isn't an entirely unfair assumption on her part. Her self-reliant nature is at odds with team management, but someone's gotta do it.

Sobek is the chill peacekeeper of the group. He's emotionally intelligent and perceptive, but his patience can easily cross over into doormat behavior. He's smarter than he looks.

Rudra is the shitstarter of the crew. Having already been a celebrity sportsdragon, she sees being a "chosen one" as more of the same: keep your obligations, give a good performance, and reap the rewards. It's easy. She likes ruffling others' feathers and is chronically at odds with Bhumi.

Penny is not actually one of the chosen - as far as anyone can tell, anyway. ("She's the last light dragon - she's gotta be the chosen of light... right?") After a very sheltered upbringing, she's determined to contribute, even if she has to fight her anxiety every step of the way.
