Finch for the character thing?

Favourite thing about them: His confidence. He doesn't seem like much of a fighter to me, but he's got the presentation. He's got this sorta "tough guy" attitude but it's very natural, like he's not afraid to stand up. Even if he generally would rather be a block away with his slingshot, dealing from a distance.

Least favourite thing about them: The fact that I can't really think of a great answer for this one, is kinda my answer for this one. He's just not fleshed out very much. I wish he had more love in the show and/or in the fandom!

Favorite line: "I AFRAID'A NO TURF!!!!!!!! But uhhh.... That Spot Conlon gets me a little... Jittery" This idiot. You just know that response was pure reflex and then he had to backtrack because crap, he just dug himself a hole didn't he?

BroTP: Specs, Tommy, Sniper. They're all very chill and they get along quite nicely.

OTP: Redfinch! Angry and chaotic meets Calm and collected. Or, in a modern AU, angry loner with ¢10 to his name meets sheltered trust fund kiddo

NoTP: I dunno. Anything toxic I guess. There are some that I'm not particularly into but like, not much I'm specificaly against

Random headcanon: Modern Headcanon! (Because it's what I write most often) Finch owns a bright blue convertible. (don't ask me brand. I don't know things. It's not cheap.) He got it for his 16th birthday and it is his baby. He keeps a towel and a case of cleaning supplies in his glove compartment at all times just in case anyone dares muck up his baby.

Unpopular opinion: I do not ship him with Crutchie. At all. I just don't see it tbh. 🤷

Spinch:

Spot’s not fluent in Gaelic and it’s not always safe to be speaking in Gaelic because anti-irish sentiment was a thing, but he likes to teach a few words to Finch. He likes getting to have this semi-private thing that’s just THEIRS. The first time he tells Finch he loves him, it slips out in Gaelic but he refuses to own up to it. Finch, through his own digging and asking around, figures it out and says it back the next time they see each other.

Muttons:

Bathing in the East River is something they do regularly and it was Mush’s idea. He doesn’t like talking about how absolutely shit Buttons’ living situation is but he does what he can to make sure he’s comfortable and taken care of without relying on his dad. Plus, the lodge house tub has a super long line so…just take some soap and go down to the river, why not. And that just means extra Alone Time and Mush is all for that.

Bonus sad hc: When they’re both sad and remembering how crap their family lives are, Mush likes to tell Buttons stories about his grandma and how fucking phenomenal she was. Buttons once asks if she’d like him and Mush just tugs him into his arms and goes, “She’d adore ya, Benji.”

ALSO APPARENTLY MUSH CALLS HIM “BENJI” WHEN HE’S SOFT, SECOND BONUS HC

Jokat:

There’s one moment, early on, where Jojo in typical “smiling on the outside, crying on the inside” fashion, tells Katherine it’s okay if she’s really in love with Jack. She doesn’t have to be with him because she feels sorry for him, or whatever. And Katherine, in typical Katherine fashion, just takes his face in her hands, kisses the shit out of him, and goes, “Do you really think I’d be with you if I didn’t feel the same way?” And sure, there are worries about their social differences and how Katherine’s dad’s gonna feel but they’re few and far between. Katherine loves him and that’s enough to put Jojo’s mind at ease.

Ronnie Boy:

Unlike most couples, Tommy Boy starts off with the pet names, though they’re entirely snide and sarcastic. He calls her shit like “princess” to mock her and her status and also kinda silently question “Why are you even here, helping us?” But as they get close, his nicknames are more personal, until he’s exclusively calling her Ronnie with the occasional, playful “princess.” However, he only ever calls her Veronica if he’s upset/angry. Veronica, conversely, mostly just calls him Thomas if she wants to be playful and Tommy if she wants to be soft. She only really calls him Tommy Boy if she’s annoyed.

Billshot:

Paradoxically, Bill ends up taking care of Hotshot a lot because she never tells him when something’s wrong. She’s convinced it’s just a matter of time before he leaves her - because what can a poor newsie from a bad family offer Bill Hearst? So since she already feels like she has to put up a front to make sure people don’t worry about her, it’s increased 100 fold around Bill. So by her NOT telling him she like hasn’t eaten or slept in several days or that she’s sick or hurt or her dad’s out of jail and she’s terrified, he ends up having to help her when shit’s Getting Real and she thinks it’s gonna make him hate her more.

Jatherine:

Jack’s definitely doodled Katherine when he wasn’t paying attention or when he can’t sleep. Usually, because he’s thinking about her anyway, not like he’ll ever admit that, Jack Kelly ain’t no sap. Katherine admittedly wishes she could do something creative to channel her daydreaming because when Jack’s usually on her mind, it means lots of dreamily staring off into space and not actually writing her articles oops.

Betty/Morris: 

Morris has 100000% been caught reading one of Betty’s articles - which is super hilarious because she works for the Journal, not the World, so he had to go out of his way to get a copy. Probably telling himself that he’s gotta see for himself how crappy a reporter she really is. He lies and says he’s reading the comics when he gets called out. If/When Betty finds out, she doesn’t ever bring it up. She’s just quietly very, very smug about it.

News Crew:

The Pulitzers, Hearsts, and Reids may be business rivals to an extent but they’re also friends to an extent. And there has 1000000% been conversations of Katherine eventually marrying either Darcy or Bill to essentially unify news empires. No one is like super serious about it (except maybe Joseph because he’s a Business Man™) but it’s become such a joke between Katherine, Darcy, and Bill as they get older. They all tease each other about their eventual marriage knowing it’ll never, ever happen.
