Out of curiosity why do you bow before eating?
"It's a sign of respect."
Tumblr media
"When I kill to eat, I know I am taking a life. I do it out of necessity. The creature's life moves to me so that I can survive and prosper. With this gesture, I pay tribute to its sacrifice."
"The bow is also to acknowledge the work of a person who brought the food, to feed me and the others. You're not pressured to do that, but even if the meal isn't to your liking, you would still recognize the effort. Our colony was small, with Hunter as the only adult, so any food brought back was celebrated."
"In my later cycles, the ability to craft explosive spears became incredibly useful for hunting and self-defense. I had a natural advantage, but it was to be exercised with caution."
Tumblr media
"Truth is, I can do a lot of damage with my «powers». It's a big, alienating responsibility. And it was an issue in my younger cycles when I couldn't control it well - sometimes people around me would get hurt, but despite that, I was shown kindness and given guidance by my mentor. My adoptive family did not treat me like a freak, and it mattered a lot to me. It still does."
"I feel no need for bloodlust. I am content with my life… for the most part. Whatever grievances I may have, I know it's bad to take it out on others. For the temporary relief it gives, you realize it really is not worth it. To kill for sport, it makes my stomach turn - a sad waste of life. Just because I can, doesn't mean I should. Cruel thoughts are the domain of a scared animal. I don't want to live in suffering because of such fear, and most of all I don't want my family to think less of me. Does that make sense? I wouldn’t want to disappoint them, or lose their trust…"
"When I hunt for food, I often think of what my mentor would say. Those thoughts guide my spears, the memories remind me to be kind in the face of the vast, indifferent world. Most of the creatures out there have it considerably worse than me, trying to survive nature day by day. I've been blessed with a mark, I know things that a typical slugcat would never need in their life. I don't think I can ever go back - knowledge, like my «powers», are both a blessing and a curse. And, dare I say, I think it is better that I have those powers… for I know, at the very least, that I trust myself to use them wisely."
"The bow is a sign of respect, and a gentle reminder of the things that I stand for."

Also why does the main Shaw pack have parental issues? David is an orphan, Asher's parents are.. wherever fr, Milo has a deadbeat dad, and I think Darlin's parents suck.

Little things about Marcille make me so so so sick. Reading a book with the first character that's anything like you at all in even a somewhat respectable way and falling in love. She doesn't know anything about the food her mother grew up eating. She is subtly different from her peers and has never been sure where she fits in. AND despite those experiences she still falls victim to prejudiced thinking. She and Kabru should be besties who verbally fight like rabid dogs.

diego seeing through mia is the coolest idea ever, but how exactly does it work? are there any limitations?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
First thought: well of course he can see through her! She’s a ghost!
Second thought: it’s more of he can only see her, so she leads him, tells him visual information he might need to know, and also just keeps him company
BUT this did give me an interesting idea of like him actually being able to see through her eyes after the spirit bond between the two gets stronger
like like like Zane and his robo-bird from Ninjago?? Y’know what I mean?? So like, not all the time, but it’s like a power, sort of like being like a spirit medium
But instead of channeling spirits, he’s watching the spirit channel or some dumb joke like that LMAO
She isn’t tethered to him, so she can go wherever and still be channeled by Maya and Pearl, but she tends to stay by his side (just like she would have been by his side at his hospital bed before she got killed)
Her spirit also fluctuates in strength and power, so sometimes she’s very visible to him and basically feels corporeal, but then other times, she’s more faint and see-through

Some time after the events of SoK
Rangi: Kyoshi, what's this about the Fire Lord telling me that you are, and I quote: "The failure of diplomacy." and "The breakdown of negotiations." Rangi: No no, don't you dare speak. You finish that fucking snickers. Once we're done with that, we're signing you up for some classes. Rangi: "There is no escalation of hostilities beyond Kyoshi." The hell there is??? Did you forget I exist???

question, does the curator exist in tsp.exe? or did she get obliterated by thierry or smth /silly
would if he could, if he knew about her...
BUT YES INDEED! rarely alluded to & shown off anywhere but here, but she DOES indeed exist, & is virtually the silent " higher-up observee " of the game next to Nobody ( settings person );
i fully planned on showing her off here when i had something of a better, colored reference to go off of here, but- ah well. your query is as good an excuse as any!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
BEHOLD! thierry's official curator ( who, by this point, could use some design tweaks because it's actually been a good while since her design was conjured but you get the idea )!
basically -- the curator is an incorporeal, " narrator " entity in the same vein as thierry, who just so happened to get trapped within the game as thierry was laying down the foundation, & by this point, can't escape, & has given up any attempt at it.
for one reason or another, perhaps because she's physically confined to the Museum - more of a scrapped concept for an after-the-game asset archive walkthrough that's been forgotten by thierry at this point, he can't detect her presence & he has no idea she's even in there. the only person who DOES, is rosemary. & arguably nobody.
but from there, does she watch over the game & all that happens within it, having absolutely 0 control of it, but almost 100% awareness of everything that goes on under its roof - unlike thierry, & considering what she's had to witness thus far, she's appalled.
rather than trying to convince the hypothetical " player " to quit the game to save the narrator & stanley, curie's instead trying to convince rosemary to do ANYTHING else than let him walk all over her, or do anything to preserve herself. but rosemary doesn't listen.
& the curator can't do anything more than offer her some outside hospitality & an escape when she wants it. so she remains to watch over them both.
THANK YOU FOR ASKING! FINALLY I can unleash her unto the world.

The False Shepard, Here To Lead Our Lambs Astray
Tumblr media
[ID: a digital drawing of an original, stylised Flatland character named Elizabeth.
Elizabeth is a vaguely humanoid character. She is depicted here with a seven-point star head with an eye in the centre, a clawed right hand and a left arm that is cut in half at the elbow - leading onto a white geometric hand. She has a broad chest that narrows into a thin torso. Her legs are cut out of frame - her body is only shown from the waist up.
She is stood in the centre with her arms held perpendicular to her body and the palms of her hands facing upwards. Over her right hand hovers a white crescent moon with a black earth shadow. Over her left hand hovers a black four-point star. She is smiling and staring slightly upwards. Her body is made up of black lines that get denser at the edges of her head, the bottom of her body and on her forearm.
The background is a stained glass window. There is a yellow and orange sun behind Elizabeth’s head with grey and pale blue glass around it, that fades to purple further down. Faint rays of light also shine out from the sun and into the corners of the canvas.
End ID.]
putting the background story and symbolism about this piece under the cut bc i feel like it really deserves an in-depth explanation
i can’t believe i’ve never properly discussed it before, but Liz’s main goal is to stop Chief turning out like his father.
after she tries and fails to kill their Chief Circle and instead kills his guard in Atlas’s defence (and i’ve decided that this is the incident where she loses her arm), she can’t risk taking any more blows like that. so instead of resorting to physical violence, she instead tries her hand at ‘positive manipulation’ to tear her problem from the root up.
she makes sure Chief has enough emotional ties to the lower classes (Atlas and Vance), irregulars (Ruth and Elijah) and lines (Liz, Ruth, Stella and Irene) for him to reconsider everything he’s been told about them. this is all to make sure that when Chief Sr. kicks the bucket they have a somewhat more progressive next-of-kin lined up to take his place. this works for her as Liz first meets Chief when he’s only about 15, so he’s still pretty young and an impressionable teenager.
but Chief Sr is still alive so boo. he has a strong grip on everything and has Chief Jr pinned under his thumb out of fear. while he doesn’t know about Stella, he does know that this ‘false shepard’ is up to something that involves his son. again, he still doesn’t know exactly who Liz is but he’s working on figuring it out.
so this image of Liz - a large, dark, looming, unnerving figure - is made to fit the circles’ depiction of her. how the next Chief Circle and his daughter are locked in her clawed grasp, and she smiles almost mockingly about it. her prosthetic is replaced by a white geometric hand and it sticks out like a sore thumb, as though it makes her ‘unhuman’ - but easily identifiable. her body is made up of a mass of lines, joined together in their force (danger !! women !!). the glass is only coloured around her head (the sun is the same as her colour palette when she’s not greyscale) and at her ‘feet’ (it’s more like the bottom of her torso but you know what i mean) which is mostly shaped with triangles - as if she’s breaking their world of grey out over the blood of the circles (again, i use purple as circle symbolism). the sun is rising in the sky, as the dawn of a new day and a new era begins.
essentially, she’s a revolutionary of the lower class, and a tyrant to the upper classes.

As a 2008 gen z, I see lots of 2014-2013-2012 wanting so hard to be gen z asswell and looking up at them. Since you are an early gen Z, did you also look up to millenials, wishing you were one? To be honest, I feel like its kind of unfair the hate a lot of people give them just for being young. When pandemic hit, in 2020, I had lots of online friends, some of them being 15-16yo, but they never judged me for being 12. Thinking of it, back then almost nobody was judging anybody. Why shoud they get hate for no reason? Its pretty unfair since its not their fault at all. There are some early gen alpha kids who are saying messed up stuff that they dont even understand which is really something that is not ok. However, we as a generation musnt go ahead and just judge and analyze the situation. We grew up with the rage bait: "cereal first and then milk" and "pinapple belongs on pizza". They however, grew up withbthe rage bait: "im gonna 🍇you" or "go back to thr kitchen", which is really not cool.
Whats ur opinion about theres things?
i was born in 1996 which makes me a millennial (JUST)! i’m the last year of the millennial dhfhghg
honestly? i don’t think about it much. i have a 17 year old nephew and an 11 year old nephew and a 5 year old niece so i am seeing how kids mature and stuff nowadays but . . . idk, the biggest change for me is that they all have tech younger.
if anything i think the kids nowadays are more understanding. they get pronouns and they don’t care about sexuality and they care about their trans friends (even though the uk is ofc terf island the kids i know seem alright!). maybe it’s bc my nephews are pretty nerdy and make nerdy friends? idk
but also i absolutely grew up with rage bait like the second one. rape jokes were way more common (the term ‘frape’ if a friend left their facebook logged in). every generation has stuff that sucks and stuff that doesn’t! me being like “i don’t understand the Youth” is just the same as my parents or my older brother (six year age difference) Not Getting Me. mostly i would like to think that the kids are Okay!!!

My mother has been telling me to watch Harold and Maude for the past 20 years or so. Finally did it today.
The movie is hilarious (if you like morbid humor), beautiful to watch, and Maude is a manic pixie dream girl done well.
Don't let the antis find it tho, the age gap would give them a heart attack lmao.

so this might seem like a kind of random question but I remember a while back you were saying that Luna finds the concept of puzzle toys offensive, while Sparta is absurdly good at them, and I was wondering: how does Troja feel about puzzle toys?
Troja has had a bit of a journey regardig puzzles (and training in general) where a couple of years ago, being faced with unclear situation and doubt she would become increasingly uncertain until she decided she didn't want to do it at all.
Hence why, around her last fear period, if I asked her something she wasn't 100% on or handed her something to figure out, she would go to the bedroom and would refuse to come out until dinnertime.
Now that her confidence is up, she likes it. And she often ends up solving them, but it's 50/50 whether it's on accident and if she's able to replicate it next time. She does her best though!
