Vocal cats are the best what do you mean kitty can say hello like a human child? She says prrp to let you know where she is because she can't say psst, and the closest thing to psst in cat language is in fact a grievous insult. She goes "hmm?" when you call her. She almost says let's go when she calls you for food. If she could say t or g she would say let's go perfectly. She says I love you. I mean it's closer to maiyowoo but it's close enough for an animal that doesn't have human or bird vocal cords.

My roommate's girlfriend (buzzed) and my roommate (blitzed) woke up to cats yowling in the alley last night right around the time I got home, and in a convincing display of her assertion that it's not CERTAIN we're getting a new cat soon (we are) my roommate asked if I wanted to go outside (it was midnight) and help them catch the one that seemed like maybe it was new to being outside. So I grabbed the carrier I've kept by the door in case our last project (Pete the tuxedo) came back (chewed a hole in the window screen and ran) and followed my roommate outside where her gf was lying on the ground with a tin of wet food trying to coax the cat from under the dumpster (nowhere near garbage day) and meowing (comfortingly?).

We ended up walk-chasing the cat down the street and Carolyn (roommate) actually got hands on her at one point, but the cat escaped (she didn't remember to zip the top of the carrier after she put the cat in) (this was when I realized she was drunk af and not just sleepy) so we spent another 20 minutes crawling around with phone flashlights on (still midnight) and eventually had to give up.

As we were walking back to the apartment (half a block away) I rolled a high enough perception check (permanent disadvantage due to adhd) to see that there was a man sitting nearly motionless in his SUV with all the lights off, lit only by the blue glow of his dash controls.

I said (quietly) "there's a whole-ass man who's been sitting in his car right here this entire time."

The other two (limbs a drunk and sweaty pretzel) processed this for a moment and giggled together. "oh well," said Julia (the toothpick keeping this thing together). "this is Chicago. He's seen weirder."

"oh for sure," I said, picking off leaf litter stuck to my elbow (humid). "I mean I feel like three lesbians chasing pussy at midnight is pretty normal around here anyway."

A (drunk) pause, then laughter so loud that something streaked from the bushes (cat) bolted across the road, and disappeared under a fence (welp).

“Black cat and golden retriever” but the black cat in question acts like my cat and she’s the golden retriever’s adorable little nine year old daughter/baby sister who puts scented stickers on everything she can get her hands on and stims so hard she knocks things over.

Black cat who takes a little while to warm up to new people but when she finally comes around to a person, she’s the sweetest most wonderful little thing and she’s just full of rainbows and marshmallow fluff, and you could never imagine a life without her.

Black cat who chases her own tail with more ferocity than the retriever ever could, and slams into objects in a whirl of spinning dark fur, but she’s laughing, and she’s having the time of her life and it’s infectious.

Black cat who loves elderly dogs, chasing feathers, stealing food she shouldn’t have, jumping out at people’s legs when they walk by and all of the other wonderful things in this world.

Black cat that sits on the golden retriever’s lap and stares off into the distance with those big green eyes, not once making eye contact, and just exists in blissful silence with their caretaker, the only noise being the crackling of the fire and the warm, deep purr coming from the little one’s chest.

Behold, the fluffy little reason I made this post. Her name is Róisín* and she’s the sweetest cat I’ve ever met. I’ve only had her for a year but I would kill and die for this cat.

*Pronounced “rowsheen”. It’s an Irish name and it means “little rose”. We thought it’d be cute and there’s too many black cats named Luna or Salem anyways.

Hi this is Coffin of Sacred-Coffin Fame. i dunno if this has come up before, but i think sister imperator loves cats. like, yes we see one in the movie back stage, but i think she like. REALLY likes them. and nihil is absolutely that dad who is like "i don't want that damn cat in my house" but is always being a sweetie pea to the cat and giving it treats and falling asleep in his old man recliner with it on his lap. sometimes when the cat chooses sister over him he tries really hard to not act visibly disappointed. he is not good at that. sister knows he loves this cat

sister imperator is literally not immune to the old cat lady stereotypes ugh she can’t help it she loves their stupid little faces and evil souls. you know she would pick up black cats off the streets during peak satanic panic because she wanted to them to be safe and the ministry briefly turned into a cat sanctuary🙄

i love that she canonically has a tuxedo cat because she ONLY wears black/gray clothing and there’s no way she isn’t covered in white fur every morning. sister spoils this thing to hell and back. she’s gotten several complaints about it attacking people or stealing food from unsuspecting siblings but she’ll never restrain her little beast because, much like her, it can do no wrong. in my beautiful world she named him luci-fur but only really ever calls him lucy unless he’s being bad. she also gets annoyed when people call him luci-purr because that’s not even the joke she was trying to make ugh (lucifer is essentially the luna/princess name equivalent of the pets of the ministry. very tacky but she is not immune to it.)

sister will kick her baby out of the room when nihil stays the nights because um she literally doesn’t need her cat seeing her naked ass🙄 but he always finds a way into the bedroom the next morning to bother her (and promptly get mad that nihil is in HIS spot). sister will fawn over him while she’s all sleepy, hold his sweet little face and pet beneath his chin and behind his ears while he purrs into her hand but then this cunt will step on her chest putting all his weight on his paws because he’s MEAN and sister will try to scold him for it because umm why are you disrespecting your mommy rn. but then he makes up for it by going to over to nihil and licking his balding head to make him mad so sister’s pain disappears long enough to laugh at him and his hair that sticks up from being groomed with rough cat tongue.

nihil was the one to get her the damn cat in the first place (aka saw it on the street, told cardi to grab it, took it home and presented it to sister. who was initially mad about the extra responsibility being thrown on her but couldn’t ever be mad about having a kitty around). he’s thankful for the attention that sister gives it because the stupid thing actually does an awesome job at putting her in a good mood which means that nihil isn’t getting attacked for stupid shit he does. sure, lucy will act all sweet for nihil to pet him only to turn around and bite his fingers before going back to being a sweetie🙄 he pisses nihil off sometimes but it’s okay because nihil also appreciates the company and he Might grumble about lucy stealing his spot on his old man chair or taking up too much space on the couch but he’ll never do anything to actually move him. he’s always sneaking him extra treats and passing off bits of human food which is probably why lucy looooves trying to steal from people’s plates now. nihil probably even suggested that they baptize him so that they can keep him in hell.

after he died, nihil was initially devastated when he realized that only sister/cardi/psaltarian could see his ghost because that meant he would be ignored by lucy forever :-(( but lucky 4 him there’s that whole superstition around cats and lucy CAN see him and actually enjoys spending time around nihil even more than usual. sometimes you can find him curled up on top of the glass casing of nihil’s coffin while they nap together (don’t tell him that this Might be because the cat wants to eat his dead body). they’re literally best friends forever and lucy gets to follow nihil around while sister is working and won’t let him lay on her laptop🙄
