Ok ngl this is kinda a vent (you can like still post it tho) some of my friends always bash me about liking grell due to uhh. her. language in the series and i've tried to explain to them to take her character with a grain of salt (name one good trans character written in japan 2008) but they say i can't excuse her character with that and ik i can't excuse her fully but i feel like in some ways she very much is a product of her time and they also just said she was a "living breathing stereotype" but like i feel like she has character that just hasn't been explored. i also don't know why they say this about grell but then they really like the viscount for some reason? i don't know if the latter is ironic or not but one of them who hasnt watched the show yet was saying he might watch just the episodes with viscount in them and im just really confused and sad. am i a bad person for liking grell? is she really that bad? uhhh sorry if this isn't what you wanted in the confession blog im just kinda :( rn.

juvia and lisanna headcanons pt. 1

this is for the anon whose ask I keep messing up... I feel like I just scared away a stray cat😭😭

♡ when edolas juvia joins edolas fairy tail, lisanna is relieved. it's difficult for her to keep up appearances and maintain relationships with edolas fairy tail when... she has no idea what edolas lisanna was like. so a new face means that she can drop the act and be herself, at least for a little bit. edolas juvia is confident and sure of herself. she's a bit of a lone wolf in edolas fairy tail, and lisanna never really gets close to her as a result. lisanna considers it a loss, until she's back in earthland and realizes that juvia is one of the only people she can talk to normally.

♡ lisanna is more distant from her old friends, for different reasons. natsu and erza are so widlly different from their edolas counterparts, and they're also not kids anymore. lisanna doesn't know how close they are or what the future holds for their relationship. what she does know is she misses lucy ashley. she was the closest thing lisanna had to a friend (with how much she pretended in front of everyone), and lisanna knows that lucy heartfilia is not her lucy ashley.

♡ lisanna feels a little bit bad about avoiding her family, but it's so difficult. just when lisanna was getting used to her role in edolas, just when she thought she could live out the rest of her life there and be happy, everything flipped topsy turvy. lisanna's relearning her life and who she is all over again, and to say she's not happy is an understatement.

♡ sometimes lisanna feels like she's seeing double. mirajane asks her what she wants at the bar, and suddenly she's back in edolas fairy tail's vine-covered guild hall. then natsu throws a table at gray, and lisanna remembers that she's back in earthland. she tries not to let it show, but her siblings can tell. they talk about her troubles, and though lisanna doesn't see any way to fix it, she appreciates that she can speak more freely now.

♡ lisanna wonders if she's ever going to have a normal relationship with someone when a lacrima goes off in her head. edolas juvia never treated lisanna with more than common courtesy, so it's not like they had much of a relationship. and... earthland juvia wasn't there when lisanna... disappeared. she doesn't look at lisanna with the same sadness that natsu or erza do. she doesn't try to coddle her the way her siblings do. in fact, juvia hasn't paid her much attention at all, and lisanna will take that over her friends' pitiful expressions.

♡ lisanna forms a habit of sitting at the bar, observing her guildmates. it's a good people study, and she gets to catch up on the past few years with her sister. mira is one of the few people that handles lisanna's return with grace, and lisanna is forever grateful for it. in her people watching, lisanna notices that juvia is a bit of a loner. when she's at the guild hall (not very often), she really only talks to gajeel. and she avoids gray like the plague. lisanna, not for the first time, wonders what she missed.

♡ their first interaction is at the job board. their hands knock together, and lisanna knows an opportunity when she sees one. "do you wanna... do the job together?" "you... want to team up... with juvia?" juvia's bewilderment makes lisanna wonder if she's offended the other somehow. juvia doesn't protest much though, and lisanna feels giddy as they walk out of the guild hall. she ignores the looks of concern her old friends send her every time she leaves for a job. she's not a child, and she can handle herself.

♡ juvia, as it turns out, is a riot. lisanna's giggling the entire time. juvia is a bit awkward and blunt, but she's earnest. her spooky comments and bone-chilling jokes paired with a deadpan expression send lisanna into a laughing fit. juvia is genuinely curious about her, too, and lisanna finds that she hasn't had this much fun talking to someone in years.

♡ the other thing that hooks her is that juvia doesn't bat an eye when she brings out her darker side. lisanna claws someone's eye out in her leopard take-over? juvia shoots her a thumbs up as she cuts a dark mage to pieces with her water slicer. they're a deadly and efficient team, and dark guilds don't stand a chance.

♡ lisanna returns to the guild feeling lighter than ever, and it doesn't go away. she spends more and more time with juvia, going out shopping, kicking ass on missions, gossiping about drama in the guild world. lisanna's smile is brighter, her heart fuller, and she thinks that maybe, just maybe, her life in earthland won't be so bad.

4x10 and 4x13 just would have been TOO good with Tristan/George. Like George scared of losing Tristan, but also having 2x05 behind her when she DID die. On top of that, the sin eater / previously possessed by a French woman and having a shortened life because of that parallel of it all. Bonus points if they haven't really acted on their feelings yet, so MAXIMUM angst. And then also, by 4x13 you can have Nancy, Ace, Tristan, AND George upset at the idea of Nancy/Tristan being soulmates.

Ok not to keep rambling on about this, but all of this is reminding me about some fan art that I saw posted several months ago (it was by puppyrelp I believe) where instead of the more "popular" season 1 and 2 contestants competing in season 3 (Fan, Test tube, Nickel, etc.) It was the instead with the more "unpopular" season 1 and 2 contestants (cherries, tissues, bomb, pickle, etc.) And I been thinking about especially now-

I've Seen I Think Justin and Taylor Pre-Firing Talk About How S3 Won't Effect S2 and if That's the Case They Really Should've Brought Back The Less Popular Characters Who's Arcs Were Cut Short Like Soap and Trophy. If This is the Last ii Season They're Making They Should've Gone all Out With Making Sure Everyone Sorta Got a Satisfying Ending and Idk, Would've Been Fun. I Like Soap and Pepper and Bomb and So Many Other Forgotten Characters I Would've Loved to Get One Last Huzzah For. It Also Would've Handily Avoided the Character Assassination Arcs We are Getting Rn for Balloon and Test Tube and Fan Because Like, These Guys Have So Much Untapped Potential That Sky's the Limit Here, You Wouldn't Have to Go Back On Their Already Completed Arcs for Trite Drama. I Get Why They Didnt Do This Though Because Then It'd Be Harder to Sell Kitchy Merch to Your Preteen Audience, Which is the Obvious Priority Here.

anyway, yeah i just think there's untapped potential with that character. like say we keep ep1s2 the way it is. that stays. but come s4 we got Agravaine trying his best to isolate Arthur from his allies (Merlin, Gaius, Gwen, his Knights), and i can't remember currently if he was just interested in the vault with magical items or if he just used them to accuse others of sorcerer

BUT say he learns about the stone that's in the vault. how much does he know? enough to know it's powerful and would be a great token for Morgana. so he gifts it to her and oops Sigan is released by them and Morgana and Sigan form and alliance to defeat Emrys and bring an end to Camelot.

this is not concise or a great explanation but I just think what we've been shown of this dude (possession, great powerful magic almost on par with Merlin, craves being immortal -> envious of Merlin's own immortality -> could be an interesting plot thread to use) it would cool to expand on that ya know?

I would believe merlin’s devotion to arthur rather than morgana is genuine if kilgharrah and gaius didnt interfere. As it was, their whisperings in the dark makes merlin’s choices very questionable (lol.)

Blows my mind how adamant kilgharrah and gaius were against merlin befriending morgana from the very start.

So its better to be friends with the heir-apparent than the noble ward who has no apparent purpose other than look pretty?

It's better to support the prince who routinely bullies and injures his own servants than the noblewoman who bravely questions the king of his brutality every day (that noblewoman treats her maid like an equal btw)?

Had this sitting around a few months back while making a wlw ship of Gwenpool and Screwball (They are called Poolball). And of course, in that time Gwen came out as Ace+Aro in Love Unlimited. So I guess they’re a happy pair of aces now. :P

opinion: ro’s character might be a lot more useful narrative-wise if her being a microbiologist wasn’t just acknowledged, but explored. 

in the books, we see her show the characters (and consequently, the reader) that she knows what she’s doing, and that ogres pride themselves on having a lot of knowledge when it comes to microbiology. particularly using that knowledge to make effective weapons, both almost harmless and lethal. 

but there’s so much more potential w/ ogre microbiology than just them having good weapons because of it. ogres (authorities, at least, like ro) being interested enough in expanding their microbiology knowledge that they’d be willing to collaborate more with other species? like how they cooperated with lady cadence on figuring out how soporidine works? it could open so many doors! 

we could have ro branching out to make ‘trial run’ alliances with other species (like elves, goblins, and most importantly, gnomes) to do joint studies of how certain things work on a microscopic and ‘normal’ scale. we could see that her being a princess doesn’t just mean she’s a good fighter and that she’s got connections, but she can also be a diplomat. it’d make her being in the lost cities a lot more important, plus, it’d be a great chance for shannon to flex some worldbuilding. ro could also flesh out connections she’s made in the lost cities (like with sophie’s bodyguards [i’m thinking of flori and sandor in particular] and elvin authorities she’s had to deal w/ like mr. forkle and the council) through sharing or gaining knowledge as a microbiologist. 

using ro as a character-driven plot device, ogres could add ‘willing to cooperate even with creatures we have negative history with for science’ to their reputation among other enlightened species. it’d make ogres more nuanced, and maybe, if shannon decided to go this route, cause problems for elves who claim their interspecies role is being peacekeepers.
