•I like the idea of one of the DR ninja checking on Kai when he has like a fever or something and are absolutely appalled when they see that this man has a fever temp of 128° F.

•Cole is very durable. he has been recorded breaking 3 pieces of wood by having them smacked on his head. No one is sure if its just the rocks in his elemental power letting him do this or just Cole being Cole.

•MiniPix7 loves circling around and playing with Riyu. She doesn’t have to Pixal to hang with or make big projects with after the merge, so she spends her time either keeping Lloyd company, tinkering with other minipixes, or playing with Riyu.

•Garmadon is somewhere in the world right now with Vinny going on adventures and having bonding experiences.

•Jay tried to learn Spanish so he could suprise Nya at their wedding reception by speaking it fluently. He now hears a lot of weird conversations between the two siblings.

•sometimes Kai fantasies about what it would’ve been like if his parents never got taken. Maybe he would’ve excelled in his Element with Ray’s help. Maybe he could’ve had mother-son bonding time with Maya. Maybe he wouldn’t have had to juggle 2 jobs and a 10 year old at the age of 12. It’s useless, he knows. You can’t take back what has already happened. but it helps him.

•when oni garmadon was taken back into the living world, his good dragon part stayed in the departed realm, so now there’s a random dragon running around the departed realm with half of god’s power and desperately trying to go back to the living world for his kid and to reconnect himself.

Episode 6: Protect the Melody: Usagi Plays Cupid

“Jadeite. Stand before me,” the evil queen commanded in that cold voice of hers that echoed throughout the ebony-colored crystals that sprouted out of the ground and walls like an infection, casting an eerie glow throughout the twisted throne room as Jadeite emerged from the shadows to bow before Queen Beryl. 

“Your Majesty honors me with her most glorious attention,” Jadeite said.

“I know. Though I thought I made myself clear the last time your plan failed that I and our Great Queen are quickly losing patience with you,” Queen Beryl said with venom leaking off her words as she leaned onto her throne with displeasure and fury that burned like fire in her orange eyes. 

“Your Majesty, I understand yours and our Great Queen’s impatience and I have adjusted my plan to account for Sailor Moon’s interference,” Jadeite said, before taking a deep breath and summoning the object that will be central to his next scheme in gathering energy to ensure their Great Queen’s resurrection. And ensure his own safety since if he was dead, so were all his future plans. “This object is called a cassette tape, Your Grace,” he said as the object was lifted from his grip and into the dark queen’s who stared at it and then at Jadeite with a look of aggravation and warning. Taking a quick, gulp to cool his nerves, Jadeite said, “I know it doesn’t look like much but I promise you that if you’ll allow me to demonstrate, it will be worth your time.” Queen Beryl looked briefly at him before at the cassette in her hand before throwing it at him.

“I’ll decide if it’s worth my time,” Queen Beryl said as Jadeite caught the cassette tape before he summoned a small, portable cassette player which he promptly placed the object in before pressing play. From the portable player, flowed a jazzy and low beat that could lull even the most stubborn and angry of children to sleep though it didn’t seem to do anything to help their cause.

“This melody is one of my own creation and while it might seem like any other human tune, this song was created in a frequency that will lure in humans to listen to on repeat and with each one more and more of their energy will be drained in a way that won’t alert Sailor Moon,” Jadeite explained as he removed the tape from it’s holder. 

“I see,” Queen Beryl said before tapping one of her long, sharp, claw-like fingernails to her chalk-like skin before turning back to Jadeite. “You may proceed but do not make me regret this,” she finished in a low threatening voice.

“As you wish, My Queen,” Jadeite said before walking out of throne room with one last bow.

Once he was in the hallway, he saw two glowing, crimson eyes with vertical pupils emerging from the shadows. “Do I have permission, Master?” the Youma asked.

“Yes, Kyurene,” Jadeite said walking over to his newest creation and placing the tape into her fur-coated claw. “But remember, no witnesses. We don’t want Sailor Moon to catch onto our plans to early.”

“Of course, Master. It will be done,” Kyurene said as her cold, wicked laughter filled the dark walls before the shrieks of bats and the flapping of wings.

In a nicely-furnished but slightly messy bedroom belonging to one Osaka Naru, sat said girl with her best friend Tsukino Usagi lying on one of her pink pillows and her cat, Luna who were all enjoying the sounds of smooth jazz coming from Naru’s mint green boombox.  

Usagi couldn’t help but sway to the gentle piano tune that played an elegant and romantic beat that seemed to touch her very heart and soul. However, as the song continued the romantic nature began to change to a much slower and sad sounding tempo before it finally drifted to its end without a triumphant chorus as thought the musician couldn’t play any longer. 

It was so sad! But also so beautiful and loving. It could make one cry.

And it did.

The dam of tears burst from Usagi’s eyes as she remembered the song’s heartbreaking beauty! “That was so beautiful, Naru-chan!” Usagi cried as she squeezed the life out of Luna, who was struggling to get free before falling practically unconscious in Usagi’s arms.

“I’m so glad you like it, Usagi-chan,” Naru said as she showed her blonde best friend the CD cover with the picture which showed the silhouette of a lone holding a bouquet of roses with his clothes being gracefully blown in the wind creating a very beautiful scene. Wanting to get a better look, Usagi promptly dropped Luna, who promptly smacked her face into Usagi’s leg, in favor of snatching the cover to see if she could figure out the name of the breath-taking, incredible, awesome musician. “His name is Amade Yusuke,” Naru said seeing her friend’s over excited display.

“Amade Yusuke?” Usagi asked. “I’ve never heard of him.”

“He’s mainly a jazz pianist,” Naru said with a shurg. “Honestly I never heard of him either before mom brought home one of her CDs and when I first heard his music I just fell in love,” Naru said with a dreamy look on her face. “Can you imagine dating him? Such a sensitive and sophisticated guy writing romantic and mature music like that just for you?” she said as she pressed her hands together against her cheeks. “I bet it would be wonderful.”

Usagi listened to her friend’s words before her mind began to drift off to someone else she knew, her sophisticated and sensitive nighttime protector who made her face turn red as a cherry and her heart beat a thousand miles a minute who went by the name of Tuxedo Mask. Oh wouldn’t it be wonderful if he came to her one night, not during a battle or fight with one of those weird monster things, but to serenade her with a beautiful song? Oh she could picture it now! He would swoop in from above and reach out a hand for hers before guiding her to a romantic garden filled with roses of every shade before getting down on one knee and singing her a song filled with his love for her. She would cry and he would then stand, and come closer to her wiping away the tears of joy before leaning in and-

“Usagi-chan!” Naru called. “Are you okay? You just left for awhile.”

“Oh sorry. I was just thinking that it would be incredible,” she said with a dreamy expression on her face before another thought came to her. There was such true and honest feelings in his song that it made her wonder if the musician, Amade Yusuke, did already write his songs for someone?

Far from the Osaka house and just in front of the building, Jam Records, that specializes in recording, creating, and distributing music was a man in his mid-to-late-twenties with teal hair and a look of sadness on his face as his fist tightly clenched around a beautiful bouquet of red roses before he turned his sad chocolate-covered eyes from the concrete sidewalk to the towering recording studio above as he said in a small voice that could barely be heard, “Today. Today I’ll tell her.” He took a deep breath and a sigh before he walked in.

Unfortunately, it was not, for something sinister was afoot in the very recording booth he was heading for.

“Stupid contraption,” a woman in a slinky  with red hair and blood-colored eyes said as she tried to shove the the cursed cassette into a stereo to no avail. How infuriating it was! She bet that if she actually had blood it would be boiling in her veins by now! She needed to calm down and to this she just thought about the beautiful future awaiting when her Great Queen and Master conquer this pathetic planet and its useless people, they will richly reward her and allow her to hunt the lifeforms that made this infuriating piece of machinery and make them suffer. Oh, yes, when she had them, she’ll take great pleasure in their screams for their lives as they slowly agonized in pain without release of death to save them. Oh, yes. That was a pretty image. 

However as she was struggling to put her Master’s tape and mewling over her future reward, she heard the creaking of the door open followed by the sound of a human woman’s voice and a stream of light. “I’ll just be a moment,” the woman said to a person outside as Kyurene quickly darted into the shadows as to avoid detection or else her Master’s plans would be ruined and watched with pure hatred and annoyance as the woman fumbled around the room, clearly searching for something as she fumbled with papers on the desks and check the shelves while muttering, “I swear he can so disorganized sometimes,” she muttered as she went near the that machine that was ruining Kyurene’s mission. She paused for a moment before looking at the machine before loudly sighing as she removed a tape from the compartment that Kyurene tried to shove in before this human interrupted her, she was horrified by what she saw. 

The tape in the human woman’s hands was not a normal tape. No! It was Master Jadeite’s cassette! Kyurene must’ve left it in that slot! 

Curse that human! This was all her fault. If she hadn’t come in while she was trying to put the cassette in then, Kyurene would’ve already her mission in action. Pesky humans. Always interfering. The only thing they’re good for is entertaining her with their screams of despair. Speaking of, Kyurene turned her gaze back to the human woman who was examining the cassette tape in the dimly lit room, alone, with no other humans nearby. ‘Remember, Kyurene, no witnesses’ Kyurene remembered Master Jadeite saying and her look of frustration and annoyance turned to one of sadistic pleasure as she licked her lips at the thought. 

Quiet as mouse with a smile of a viper, she quietly came closer to the woman with her claws starting to extend, her teeth growing sharper, and her skin starting to turn a toxic green as she came closer and closer to the woman who caused this. Oh! What pleasure it will be to watch her suffer and agonize as she shreds her pale skin with her claws, tear apart her flesh with her teeth, all the while she begs and pleads for help. For somebody to come and rescue her from the endless torment that Kyurene will rain down on this nothing human. But no one would come. No one will save her. Don’t worry though. Kyurene won’t kill her. She’ll just maim, break her, and beat her enough that she wished she were dead and that she’ll be unrecognizable. But no she won’t kill her. 

She could practically taste this woman’s blood now. 

She inched closer, savoring the moment when her claws would first dig into her skin. That initial shock before the look of fear in her eyes. Oh, yes. Absolutely delicious. 

Her claws came closer brushing the hair near the nape of her neck. Just a little closer. So close.

“Are you okay in there, Yanagi-san?” a man’s voice said.

Damnit. Quickly, Kyurene ducked into the shadows. Now of course she could take on to humans but torturing them both would be too much work.

The woman turned around to see the man and said, “Oh, sorry. Is he here already?” the woman said as she brought the cassette with her which made Kyurene slowly growl. 

“Yeah, and he has a bouquet of roses for you,” the man said with a teasing tone. “I think he might have a thing for you.”

The woman rolled her eyes, “Don’t be ridiculous. Amade-san and I are just co-workers.” 

“I would hope I was more to you than that, Yanagi-san,” another male voice. Ugh. Three humans? Now, Kyurene will never get that tape.

“Oh, Amade-san,” the woman said seeing him as he pathetically fiddled with the bouquet in his hand. “I got your latest tape right here, despite the mess,” she said gesturing to the area.

“Hehe, sorry,” the man said with a small chuckle before he clearly took a breath and cleared his throat. “Yanagi-san, we’ve known each other-” he began as he slowly started to bring his bouquet up as the other human left. 

He wasn’t able to get another word out as the woman jammed her Master’s cassette tape into his hands which he fumbled around with for a bit before just barely managing to catch it. Pitiful. “Remember, you have to figure out a name for your new demo before next Friday,” she said.

“Yeah. Don’t worry about it,” the man said as he started to raise his bouquet to her. “Anyway, would you...maybe, want to-”

“Yanagi-san, Takahashi-sama needs you upstairs,” the man from before said walking in.

“Coming!” the woman said before looking back at the man. “Boss is calling. Sorry, Amade-san. Maybe we can talk more later,” she said before leaving him to wallow in his feeble worthlessness.

Kyurene watched as the man looked down with sadness and then at her Master’s cassette in his hands and that same anger she felt at the human woman before now transferred onto this man. Just the mere sight of him made Kyurene want to wring his neck. Standing their drenched in his own lovesickness. It made her laugh. Love was such a weak, human emotion, one that Kyurene had the profound pleasure of never having to deal with. However, to those that did feel it, she had nothing but hate for. Nothing but the innate want to make them feel true pain. Then again that’s how she feels all the time.

She shook her head. She needed the tape from the man and looked back at the cassette in the frail human hand and her thoughts changed. A wicked smile returned to her face. Well, he may not be the intended target, but a human suffering by her hand is as good as any other.

And her claws were just itching for some fun.

“Did you really have to get his album?” Luna said, shivering against Usagi with fur in her eyes as rain poured down and right onto their head. 

“I didn’t know it was going to start pouring like this!” Usagi said as she gripped Luna closer trying to create body warmth between herself and the furious feline.

Luna looked up at Usagi before glaring and saying, “I told you this morning that it was going to be raining then again before we went into the store but did you listen? No, just brushed me off and now look at us.” 

As Luna continued to rant in the background about the predicament, Usagi had to admit she may have had a point. Here she was, soaked to the skin because her blue cardigan and short white skirt provide basically zero protection against the elements (even though they were super cute), her blue sneakers covered in mud and grime and other things that Usagi didn’t even want to think about slish-sloshed with every step she took, and, worst of all, her woolen socks were sticking in a super uncomfortable way to her legs that were shaking from the cold rain and wind! Luna was also, no better off as she basically became a bundle of wet fur that was sticking out in every direction and looking at her poor feline form, the blonde fourteen-year-old felt really bad and gave a look of pity to her cat companion. 

As she mewled over her predicament, she could faintly here something behind her. At first, she thought it might be her imagination or maybe the rain so she just continued walking until, “HELP!” resounded through the pitch-black, night air. Help? Was someone in trouble? Usagi stopped dead in her tracks and looked back with Luna as That was until Luna reached up and scratched her across the cheek with her claws and cried out, “Are you even listening?!”

Suddenly, Usagi wasn’t feeling so bad for Luna as her look of kindness turned to to one of rudeness as she said while rubbing her cheek with her wrist since the hand was holding her new album as she said, “Yes, and I’m sorry so you don’t need to be mean to me.”

Luna turned back towards the concrete, puddle-covered sidewalk and huffed out, “Fine. Let’s just hurry home since cats and water don’t exactly mix.”

“I figure that much,” Usagi uncharacteristically said out loud. Stupid rain. Stupid. Luna. Destroying her sunny disposition.

As she mewled over her problem, she could faintly here something behind her. At first, she thought it might be her imagination or maybe the rain so she just continued walking until, “HELP!” resounded through the pitch-black, night air. Help? Was someone in trouble? Usagi stopped dead in her tracks and looked back with Luna who stiffened in Usagi’s arms when they saw a dark, male-shaped shadow in the rain that was charging at them like his life depended on it. “HELP!” the shadow cried again as he started to take form as he came closer but before Usagi could make out any details of the man, he slipped and fell face first into a puddle. Shocked and scared for him, Usagi ignored the storm around and only focused on the frightened man as she raced to his side. 

“Are you okay, sir?” Usagi said as she reached out for the man to make sure he was alright, he quickly proved he was when he sat up which startled Usagi in the process before she was terrified by the look in his eyes. They were wide, nearly bloodshot, and filled with horror and panic as he seemed to be staring through Usagi and Luna than at them. That wasn’t all though, his breath was panicked and only came out in short spurts from his bluish lips and his body shook heavily not from the rain but from sheer fear. “Sir?” Usagi asked again, trying to understand what happened to this poor man. Had he been robbed? Was someone chasing him? Was he a man who got to involved in the Yakuza and now they’re trying to silence him? Okay, maybe that last part was a little much but still, why was he was so afraid? “Sir?” Usagi tried again, since he hadn’t answered before too frozen by fear. “Sir? Are you alright? Do you need me to ca-”

“-ster...” he half-whispered in fear though Usagi and Luna couldn’t make out the rest. Well, at least she was getting an answer. Kind of.

“I’m sorry?” she asked.

The man suddenly grabbed her shoulders and cried, “M-Monster! There’s a monster chasing me!” he said pointing off into the empty area where there was...a bunch of streetlights. “It...it attacked me...and...and st-started chasing me,” he said, before turning back to Usagi, his eyes still wide with fright. “You-you’ve gotta...help me...PLEASE!” with this he squeezed her shoulders tightly. “You-you...believe me, right?” he cried out.

Many people probably wouldn’t believe a stranger running full speed at them, crying how a monster had attacked them and chasing them, and probably believe they weren’t...okay. Usagi was not most people. She was Sailor Moon who protects love and justice and defeater of evil monsters who threaten innocent people! And even then, she could just see from the look on his face, the fear and the desperate hope that she would,

Usagi turned to the terrified man and smiled the warmest smile, saying “Don’t worry. I believe you,” before giving him a gentle pat on his hands. “Could you tell me what happened or...”

Usagi watched the man’s eyes turn from being so afraid he could barel talk to one of shock then one of true hope and relief. “Th-thank you,” he said as he let Usagi go. “I had just about to leave the recording studio with one of my tapes when this...this demon attacked me!” he explained, his eyes looking around as he tried to search for the monster that did this to him, as that panicked look came back to him. “I b-barely e-escaped from it...I just ran...I...I...” he couldn’t speak anymore and his body shook even worse.

Usagi saw this and said with her hand outreached, “Hey! Maybe we should go on a walk.” 

The man, obviously still scared turned to Usagi and paused before carefully taking her and they both rose to their feet and began to walk away from where he had been running from, though Usagi could see that he kept looking behind him, probably expecting the monster to pop out of the dark corners and alleys.

“So,” Usagi said, wanting to lighten the mood and calm him (and herself) before it got worse. “You work at a recording studio? You must be a pretty famous musician then!”

The man paused before looking at Usagi with a confused look before he said in a nervous voice, “W-well, I am a musician but I wouldn’t say I’m famous.”

“Don’t sell yourself short! I bet you’ll be as famous as this guy!” she said, shifting her arms to hold up Yusuke Amade’s latest album. 

The musician looked at the album and for the first time since she met him, he cracked a small smile that looked like she said something funny. “Well, I wouldn’t exactly call that guy famous either,” he said.

The blonde’s face turned red-hot. How dare this guy? She was trying to help him with his monster problem and he was here making fun of the musician she liked. Gr...That’s just rude (it almost reminded her of that black-haired jerk she always runs into)! “I’ll have you know sir,” she said in tone dripping with rudeness. “Yusuke Amade is an extremely talented piano player who plays with such passion and honesty, he can make you feel joy, sadness, love, and heartbreak just with his music so even if he isn’t famous right now, which I really doubt, he will be!”

Usagi glared at the man before her and the smile he had turned to shock before finally a smile, a real smile, came to his face. “Thank you.”

“Thank you?”

“Yeah,” he said, looking the most relaxed she had seen him. “Thank you for saying that. When I started out thought no one would ever listen to my music,” he said, looking off into the distance.

His music? Wait. Does that mean?... Usagi’s face brightened up. “YOU’RE YUSUKE AMADE!”

The man was shocked before shaking his head. 

“My best friend showed me your music and it was amazing!” Usagi said, getting really too close to his face for comfort but she didn’t really notice. “They were so heartfelt and breathtaking and beautiful! I couldn’t believe it! Where do you get your inspiration from? Is it from someone special?” Usagi asked her mouth running a mile a minute until she saw the awkward look on his face at her last question. “So it is someone special! I knew it! Who is she!?” she asked grabbing his face pressing it to hers. “Tell me,” she slightly creepily said which made Yusuke Amade back away.

“W-well,” he paused before looking back at Usagi. “Her name is Yanagi Akiko,” he said with a dreamy smile on his face. “She has the most beautiful blue eyes that you could lose yourself in and the softest, reddest hair I’ve ever seen but she’s also so organized and intelligent and ambitious. Honestly, I probably wouldn’t have gotten as far as I did without her since she was the one who helped me get my first album recorded at Jam Records and has been with me this whole way. She’s...just incredible.”

“It sounds like you really love her,” Usagi said a smaller smile and not in his personal space anymore.

“I do,” he said, before his smile turned kind of sad. “Too bad, she’ll never know.”

Usagi’s smile quickly faded and she cried out, “Why!? You clearly love her, so what’s stopping you!?”

Yusuke Amade looked away before saying, “Whenever I build up the nerve to try and ask her out, something always happens and I can’t, and now with th-the mon...mon...the you know what, I can’t put her through that if it comes after me again.”

Usagi gave a sympathetic look. So that’s why his music sounded so sad at the end of his song? It was because he felt like he’ll never get Yanagi-san’s love. Well that just won’t do! Not in Usagi’s book! She will give the song a happy ending since she wasn’t the protector of love and justice for nothing! “Yusuke Amade! You must tell her how you feel!”

“Wh-what about the mon-thing?” he asked with a tremble in his voice.

“That’s no excuse!” Usagi said, her voice filled with confidence. “You love her don’t you!?”

“Y-yes,” he said, probably wondering if he should be more worried of the monster chasing him or this girl.

“Then you need to be honest with her or she’ll never know. Besides do you want to live in a state of eternal regret wondering if you just gave up the love of your life for this monster!” Usagi demanded which made Yusuke Amade look down with sadness in his eyes. 

“B-but what if...what if something goes wrong? What if she doesn’t like me in that way?” Yusuke Amade said with sadness heavy in his voice.

“Then at least you’ll know and don’t you worry about that evil monster, I’ll be taking care of it!” Usagi said with pride beaming from her face before realizing. Oh yeah! She was Usagi right now, not Sailor Moon and no one was supposed to know that. Think quick! “I mean...um...I have this friend and she’ll take care of it,” Usagi quickly said. 

Yusuke Amade looked at Usagi, unsure and scared before saying, “How?”

Usagi suddenly felt a little stupid. How? Well, with a golden tiara but then again that’s not really something you tell someone even if they are scared out of their wits by an evil monster intent on their doom. “Just trust me,” Usagi said with a small wink as Luna facepalmed.

Yusuke Amade paused looking at Usagi’s honest expression and and finally he sighed, not completely believing her about her ‘friend’ that destroys monsters, before he slowly pulled out a card from his jacket. “Here,” he said handing the card to Usagi which had the name of some Jazz club surrounded by musical notes and a piano beneath the letters, and when she flipped onto its side she saw a small map of its location. “I’m heading there tonight to perform, so give that to your friend,” he said as he looked around. “I really hope you’re being honest.”

“Everything will be fine,” Usagi said before looking at his returned fearful expression. “Are you going to be okay? Do you want me to walk with you?” Usagi asked looking up at him.

“N-no. I’ll be fine,” he then turned to her and said. “Just tell your friend to hurry,” Yusuke Amade said before he ran off as though he had seen something horrible.

Usagi watched her new favorite musician take off into the rainy darkness with worry now in her eyes the further he ran before disappearing. Why was he being chased? Will he be okay at the club? Will he even reach the club? Will he ever be able to confess his love to that lady?

“USAGI!” Luna cried out as she left another long scratch to Usagi’s cheek.

“LUNA!” Usagi cried out as she grasped her pain-filled cheek. “What was that for!?”

“For keeping me out here for longer than necessary,” Luna said angrily as she jumped onto Usagi’s right shoulder.

“I was trying to help Yusuke Amade, Luna,” Usagi cried out with a couple of tears in her eyes as she became distinctly aware of the rain around them. “Besides don’t you think this monster is at least worth looking into? It could give us a clue to the enemy.”

Luna looked over at Usagi before saying, “And I assume you’re not just saying that to get me to agree.”

“Is it working?” Usagi asked with a hopeful expression. 

Luna looked over at Usagi hopeful face before openly sighing. “I guess we can check it out but remember we’ll be busy, so don’t get distracted.”

“Me?” Usagi asked with a wicked smirk. “Never.”

“Why I am already regretting this?” Luna asked before yowling in fright as Usagi took off in the same direction as Yusuke Amade and the hope she will be able to defeat the monster like she promised. And if by some lucky stroke of fate get him and his soon-to-be girlfriend together then that would be awesome too!

“Kyurene,” Master Jadeite’s voice said as she turned on the worthless human-made contraption and bowed before him. “Have you completed your mission yet?” he asked.

“Forgive me, Master, but I haven’t,” she said, unable to meet her Master’s eye.

He paused for a moment, probably unsure how to take this news before slowly saying, “Why not?” 

“A human woman came into the recording studio I was using to enact your plan, Master, and interrupted me before she gave your tape to human man,” Kyurene said, bitterness heavy in her voice at the two humans who have put her in this humiliating situation in the first place. Oh, when she gets her hands on them, she’ll make them regret ever stepping into that building. 

“Have you taken care of it?” Master Jadeite asked.

“I tried, but the man had gotten away with the tape,” Kyurene replied.

“And the woman?” Master Jadeite said, sounding exasperated.

“I...don’t know. I thought it was more necessary to try and get the tape back,” Kyurene said. 

Master Jadeite gave a low growl before saying, “Find them and get rid of them before the entire plan is ruined and I assure Queen Beryl will not be as merciful as me.” 

“I know Master but that’s why I came to you. After I lost the human male, I hoped that you would have someway to track the tape,” Kyurene said.

Master Jadeite went quiet before she heard a loud sigh coming from the contraption’s screen turned from bluish in color to a dark, almost black purple and saw something beginning to materialize before her. At first, she couldn’t make out what it was but as she watched it turned into a ball of dark purple yarn that radiated dark energy that seemed to suck the light out of the nearby area. “This yarn will lead you to the tape’s location,” Master Jadeite said as the yarn began to unroll itself into a near invisible strand that she had to squint to see. “This is your final chance. No more mistakes,” Master Jadeite with the threat obvious in his voice.

“Yes, Master. I swear that there will be no more interruptions, including those humans,” Kyurene replied with a wicked smile as she remembered all the wonderfully terribly things she’ll do when they’re in her clutches and this time she won’t care if anyone sees. Maybe she’ll start by ripping out their eyes. Or maybe she’ll break their fingers, one at a time. Or maybe she’ll carry them just high enough so when she drops them, they’ll feel the force of the ground and lie there in withering pain for hours if she was lucky. She giggled in amusement at her thoughts before it turned to an evil cackle as her physical body began to break apart into bats that soon took to the skies with a wicked glint in their eyes as shrieks and screeches broke the peaceful night air.

“That must be it,” Usagi said, pointing at a small, hole in the wall with only a flashy neon sign saying it was a jazz club that looked really old and, not to be mean, but kind of ugly. “You know for such a great musician, he does work at a pretty cruddy place,” the blonde said out loud.

“Usagi!” Luna loud whispered angrily which Usagi gave an awkward giggle to. This girl sometimes. Luna gave out a deep sigh before looking back at the hidden jazz club and gasped loudly as she saw the bouncer was checking the IDs of a young couple. Wait...Oh no. “Usagi, we might have to think of another way in,” Luna said turning to her teenaged charge.

“What? Why?” Usagi asked as she looked down at her cat who merely pointed towards the burly bouncer with a no-nonsense look that scared Usagi before she quickly shook it away. “Don’t worry, Luna!” Usagi said with a smile on her face. “He doesn’t seem that tough! And besides, my natural charm and appeal will be more than enough to convince him,” Usagi said as Luna facepalmed before the cat watched Usagi walk away from their hiding spot and approach the intimidating bouncer. 

“This is never going to work,” Luna muttered.

And lo and behold, it didn’t. Usagi came flying back towards Luna, crashing into the feline. “I can’t believe I didn’t manage to convince him,” Usagi muttered in a dazed state.

Luna pulled herself out from under Usagi’s body with a bright red bump on her head. “We’ll need to think of something,” Luna said.

Usagi tapped her chin before her face lit up. “I got it! How about I turn into Sailor Moon, beat up the jerky bouncer and-”

“No,” Luna said.

“But why?” Usagi whined

“Well, it’s a crime for one and do you want to monster to find out that Sailor Moon is after them?” Luna said.

Usagi was confused at first. Why would the monster care that Sailor Moon would be after it? She was Sailor Moon! Sailor Moon had to defeat the monsters that terrorize the city of Tokyo! And since it was a monster and probably had heard about her, it knew she was going to be coming after it eventually! Sure, it wasn’t as open or obvious about it’s evil schemes like the others and sure the only way she’d even know about would be because of Yusuke Amade. Wait...”OH NO!” Usagi cried grabbing her face in the same way that guy in Edward Munch’s The Scream does.

Luna, seeing Usagi catch on said, “Exactly. We’re going to need to think of another solution.”

Usagi thought for a bit before her eyes widened in joy and she brought out her bubblegum-pink Disguise Pen. “I’ve got it!” she cried. “Moon Power, turn me into a beautiful musician!” With those words spoken, the blinding pink light engulfed Usagi, swirling and twirling around her as she felt her body begin to grow and her clothes transform. Slowly the light settled around her, before it disappeared showing Usagi was taller and now in a revealing outfit that consisted of knee-high fishnet stockings with heeled ankle boots, a black mini-skirt and matching crop top, and a bright red short jacket made of leather. However, her clothes weren’t the only change as Usagi also saw that her usual blonde locks that fell to her knees and she spent hours brushing was now a messy ombre green with streaks of red that only fell to her shoulders. “How do I look, Luna?” she asked excitedly.

“Like your father would faint if he saw you,” Luna replied as she hoped onto Usagi’s shoulder. “Now come on, we have to get inside.”

Usagi nodded and started walking towards the mean bouncer who had just let in a couple. “Hi,” Usagi said, trying to put on a cheerful voice.

“ID?” he said gruffly. Still that same charm as before.

“Oh, um...” she said.

“Do you have an ID or not?” he asked, clearly annoyed.

“Of course I do! I just put it in my pocket,” she said as she shuffled through her pockets, trying to maintain her huge and fake smile while the mean bouncer just rolled his eyes. Rude. But still! She needed to get by this guy! Yusuke Amade needed her help! As the freaked out Usagi searched her leather jacket, she felt her finger scrape something plastic. Could it be-? She pulled it out and there it was a shiny, new ID which read, Tanaka Mitsuki along with presenting her age as 18 rather than 14. Her fake smile turned to a real one as she showed the bouncer her ID. “Sorry about that! I can be such a scatterbrain,” she said trying to sound sweet and grown up.

The bouncer just gruffed out a response as he checked the ID before gesturing her to go in. Usagi gave a sigh of relief and was about to swagger on in when the bouncer’s overly muscular arm prevented her from entering. She gave a small peep as a thousand thoughts began to race through her head all at once. Did he figure her out? Did he figure out that the ID was fake? Did he figure out that she knew nothing about jazz and is going to a jazz club!? Okay, probably not that last one. But why!? Okay! Calm down Usagi! “Is there a problem?” she asked.

“Your cat?” the bouncer said pointing towards Luna who was slumped over Usagi’s shoulders. “No pets are allowed in the club.”

Usagi nearly froze at this. No pets? But she needed Luna! Think, Usagi! Think! “W-well...um. This isn’t a pet!” she quickly said as the bouncer groaned in disbelief and annoyance.

“Okay. What is it then?” he said, clearly not believing her.

“Um...It’s the latest in faux fur scarves!” Usagi said with a trying-to-hard confident smile. “Now if you’ll excuse me, I have a long night ahead of me,” she continued with a flick of her neon green hair sauntering into the club as the bouncer rolled his eyes before going back to his job.

The first thing Usagi realized upon entering the club was that she was way of her depth here. The disgusting smell of cigar and cigarette smoke wafted through the air, talking in rough and mature voices about topics Usagi didn’t understand, and an elegant looking woman with straight black hair that covered one of her eyes was playing a large brass instrument. Yeah. Way out of her depth here. Honestly, she felt like suffocating in here. No. Yusuke Amade need her help to stop the monster chasing him and so he can be with his girlfriend! Usagi took a deep breath and put on an obviously fake smile that went unnoticed by anyone there (thankfully) and somehow managed to get to the bar. 

The bartender looked over at her as he finished cleaning a glass. “What can I get you? Some sake? Plum wine? Beer?” he asked going through the options as Usagi who was getting more and more intimidated with each listing. She was 18 in this form but she wasn’t about to start drinking! 

“Um...a cream soda, please,” she said.

The bartender looked at her weirdly but shrugged and brought out her drink which she promptly took and swiveled on the bar stool to look around. No sign of a monster or anything monster-like. Or Yusuke Amade. Darn. What if it already left!? What if it already made it to Yusuke Amade?! What if-! “Ladies and Gentlemen,” Usagi was quickly broken from her fears and worries, “let’s give one last hand to Honda Naomi,” the host said through a microphone as the woman on stage gave a bow followed by a round of slow, respectful clapping except for Usagi who was widely clapped (which may or may not got her some awkward stares but hey she was good)! “And please welcome to the stage Yusuke Amade, an up and coming star at home as well as here,” the host said as the very recognizable Yusuke Amade, only now wearing black slacks and a white dress shirt with a bowtie, walked onto stage and took a seat at the piano and began to play his beautiful sounding music. Usagi couldn’t help but give out a sigh of relief at seeing the musician safe. However, he didn’t seem to be okay. Sure, he was good at hiding it and if she hadn’t seen him earlier, she would’ve thought he was perfectly fine.

But she did see him earlier. And now she can see how his eyes would discreetly dart around the room with fear still obvious and his fingers would shake along the keys, even missing a few but running with it and still making beautiful music despite it.

It was...it was heartbreaking to witness. 

She needed to find the monster. 

“Usagi?” she was broken from her trance and looked at Luna. “Look,” the black feline said looking over at the floor and at first Usagi saw nothing but then she saw a flash of something. It was so faint that Usagi still wasn’t sure it was real, that she thought she might be seeing things. Another flash. Usagi stared, it was the faintest hint of dark purple before disappearing. It was real! Usagi concentrated on the faint whatever-it-is and it came again, another flash of dark purple. Usagi followed the flash and saw it stretched out like a string and was attached to something. No. Someone!

It was connected Yusuke Amade. Usagi looked up at him as he was closing up his song, seemingly unaware of anything. That couldn’t be good. “Do you think it’s part of the Dark Kingdom?” Usagi whispered to her cat.

“I know it can’t be anything good,” Luna said. “We need to warn Yusuke-san befo-”

The keys of the piano were pounded into letting out a sickening sound. Usagi and Luna looked up to see Yusuke Amade stare out on of the windows of the club at something in pure horror before he quickly stands up, knocking over his piano bench, and racing off the stage without another word.

Whispers rose up from the customers, wondering about his weird behavior as the host came on stage to reassure them that Yusuke Amade was fine and it was just stage jitters. Usagi knew better though. He was frightened off by something or someone. 

She quickly turned to the window. There was nothing there. She turned back to the stage and he had disappeared from sight. Something scared him off. Something was at that window. Without another word to her feline companion, Usagi took off in the same direction as Yusuke Amade.

Yusuke frantically searched the underground parking garage for his car as the horror of what he saw outside came back to him. It was the monster! He just knew it! It followed him here. Okay. Breathe. Just breathe. Breathe. That didn’t happen. That couldn’t happen. But it did. He had to get away. He had to get away now!

He continued trying to run towards his car as the underground air grew hotter and more suffocating with each passing moment and the shadows all around seem to be playing tricks on him. No. No. Can’t think like that. He needed his car. 

He took a deep breath. And then another. And then another. Thoughts came pouring into his head. Why was any of this happening to him? What did he do to deserve this? First, he couldn’t confess Yanagi-san and now might never, then that-that thing nearly killed him at Jam Records and he barely got away with his life, he couldn’t even play without worrying it would jump out and do unspeakable things it him, and now it seemed like he couldn’t escape it! If he was being honest, the only good thing about today was that blonde girl he met. She seemed so kind and worried about him. Oh no. What if that thing saw them together!? He might’ve put that girl at risk. And didn’t she say she was sending a friend to help him? No! He might put her at risk too. He was such a terrible person. 

The flapping of wings he heard and he felt his blood physically run cold. It couldn’t be. Could it?

Well, he wasn’t sticking around to find out! 

Flapping wings followed by a shriek. This time closer. His legs. They didn’t move. They were frozen. His breathing was heavy. 

Move. Please. Move! 

The flapping came closer. The shrieks louder.

Move. Just move! 

The flapping was above. The shrieks were deafening.  Shadows of bats circled above him.

His legs did not move. 

He was trapped. 

The ding of an elevator echoed through the claustrophobic air. Yusuke, willed with all his might, to look behind him to see the elevator doors slowly open as the bats flapped over. He watched with horror as that demon in human shape emerged from the elevator with a hand on her hip as the swarm of bats flew around. “You have something important to me,” it said in a tone that reminded Yusuke of the tune played whenever a predator had their prey cornered. “You have something of mine,” she said removing her hand as her nails extended into those same claws. “And I will get it back,” she continued before lunging at the musician who prayed with all he could to be able to run, flee, to even just move his legs. He couldn’t.

He was knocked the ground, his head colliding with the concrete and his vision blurring. “Humans are so weak,” he heard the heinous voice directly in his ear as he felt his tape leave his pocket. “Now that I have my master’s tape back, I will be able to enact his plan and once it’s done, I’ll make good on my promise to break your fingers one at a time before tearing out your throat for wasting my time. Then again why wait?”

His breathing became faster. Time froze. A realization hit him. He was...He was going to die. There was no one to save him. He was alone. He was going to die alone. He would never see the sun again. He never see Akiko again. He never told her. Silent tears began to fall down his cheeks as the monster’s cackles of hate assaulted his ears.

She readied her claws above her head, ready to maul him without a care and with a sadistic glee while he lay helpless, resigned to his fate and then... “Hey!”

They turned behind them and his tears of fear and pain turned to one of joy. It was that girl and her cat from earlier. Oh no. It was that girl from earlier! “Run Away!” he yelled. He couldn’t let her get hurt!

“Quiet,” the monster threatened before turning to the girl. “Leave.”

“Then let him go because I’m not afraid of you,” the girl said. Was she crazy? She needed to leave. 

The monster stared at the girl for a moment before saying, “I have no time for pest,” and then it started to change. It’s red hair became ragged and messy and its skin turned a disgusting neon green, dark purple fur began to grow from its arms and legs, scale-like armor began to harden around its torso, her dress tore and only became a barely-there sash, talons on its feet , it’s pupils became thin slits on red sclerae with strange triangular shaped marking under her eyes, purple-painted lips hiding rows of  sharp fangs, and bat-like wings began to protrude from her back. 

Yusuke was horrified and disgusted by the creature but he wasn’t the only one. He saw that girl, she had a look of pure terror on her face. Honestly, he couldn’t  blame her. He was a grown man and he was cowering like a kitten against a monster so he couldn’t even imagine how this teenager felt staring at this creature. 

“I’m still not leaving until you let him go,” the girl said on shaky legs. She needed to run already! Forget about him! The monster growled at the girl looking like she was ready to pounce upon her which even she noticed as her eyes grew wide with fear, though she looked like she was clumsily trying to get into a defensive position. She was still trying to stand up to this thing?! What was with this girl?! “Like I said, I’m not leaving. Leave him alone!”

The monster looked briefly taken aback by the girl’s determination despite her fear but seemed to quickly shake it off. “Like I said I have no time for a pest like you with my Master’s plan so close to fruition but don’t worry, I won’t forget your insolence,” it said with a smirk before it spread it transformed before their eyes into a swarm of bats and flew out of the underground parking lot as its cackles echoed behind her before disappearing altogether.

Yusuke, even with it gone, was still in a state of shock. His body still violently shook. His breathing was still panicked and desperate. His skin was still clammy and pale. His eyes were still filled with tears. He looked like a wreck. “Are you alright?” he heard behind him. It was that girl and her cat. 

“Not really.” Understatement of the century. “But thank you.”

“You’re welcome,” she said as she took a knee next to him.

“What are you doing here?” he said, as he shakingly rose to his feet with help from the girl. 

“I wanted to come and protect you since my friend wasn’t able to at the time,” the girl said. 

“I see, but you should go home now. I don’t want you to get any more involved in this than you already are,” he said nervously. 

“I’m sorry but I can’t. If that thing is going to do something too innocent people then it’s my duty to stop it,” she said with both confidence and fear in her voice. Yusuke stood there his eyes wide. This girl was going to go and try to stop that monster herself? Was she really this brave? He looked into her eyes once more. She was. And here he was quivering like a coward while a girl, half his age was willing to defeat the monster that had been plaguing him all night. Was he really going to let this girl and whoever her friend was, fight his battle for him? “I gotta go now!” 

He made his decision, “Wait!” She looked back at him with bewildered expression. “We’ll take my car because I think I have an idea of where she’s going.” 

The girl’s bewildered expression turned to a smile before she followed the musician to his vehicle.

Well, here goes either the best or worst decision of his existence.

Usagi with Luna on her lap had been seated in Yusuke Amade’s in uncomfortable silence for about ten minutes. Speaking of him, Usagi could just feel the anxiety and fear coming off him as he stared dead ahead at the empty nighttime roads. It was honestly kind of suffocating in the small space. “So...where are we heading?” she asked in that tone of voice where you’re trying to relieve a really tense situation but fail. 

“Jam Records,” he said not looking over at Usagi as his eyes were squarely on the road and his knuckles white around the steering wheel.

“Jam Records?” Usagi asked. “Isn’t that where Yanagi-san works as well”

“Yup,” Yusuke Amade said in a quick manor between his worried breaths. 

“You must be excited to see her then,” Usagi said.

“Yeah,” he said sounding somewhat bitter and snappish. “I can deal with the fact she’ll never want to speak to me again after a monster tries to tear her apart if it hasn’t already.”

Usagi looked down. “I’m sorry,” she said in a soft voice which even earned a look of sympathy from Luna. 

She heard a deep sigh from the driver’s seat. “No, I’m sorry. I’m just scared. What if we’re too late and Akiko...is you know? What if we can’t stop it? What if...What if there’s nothing we can do?”

“You’re already doing something even though you’re scared,” she said. “And honestly, you’re not the only one whose scared,” Usagi continued as she petted Luna’s head. 

Yusuke Amade paused for a moment before saying, “I know. But I should’ve been better. I mean I’m an adult but I was crying like a baby on the concrete while you could look that thing in the eye and fight for my life.”

“You know someone told me when I was scared and afraid,” she said with a deep blush, “you can’t cry, you have to fight and he helped me to destroy my problem.”

“He sounds very smart,” Yusuke Amade said with a smile before turning towards the road. 

“He is,” she said with a dreamy, love-filled grin at the thought of her masked savior while Luna just gave a loud sigh. He was so handsome and protective and wonderful. One day, she would tell him all this and hopefully, he would see how incredibly she was and they would fall in love and get married! There would be no monsters and evil generals and it would just the two of them, living happily ever after!

Her dreams were stopped when the car came to an abrupt stop. “We’re here,” Yusuke Amade said as he pointed to a large building where a shadow of something landed. Usagi gulped. It was already here. 

Were they too late? No. Can’t think like that. Usagi took a deep breath as the two hopped out of the car and hesitantly headed inside.

Close. So very close. Those humans might have gotten in her way before but now nothing can stop her from carrying out her Master’s plan.

Kyurene peered into the comforting darkness as she searched for that accursed machine that started this whole mess. Ugh! Couldn’t humans do anything right?! Kyurene sighed. Aw, well. The sooner she finishes this job, the sooner Master Jadeite will allow her to hunt down her prey, starting with that little brat in the parking lot! If it wasn’t for her then she could’ve been having her fun with that pathetic excuse for a man for daring to interfere with her mission thinking that she was strong. How dare she think she could stand against her? A soldier of the Dark Kingdom! A servant of Master Jadeite, one of the Great Dark Generals! She could’ve ripped her in half in that moment! And yet she stayed! Trying to act all tough instead of running and crying to her mother like a good little girl! Someone should teach her to try and fight her betters. 

And soon Kyurene will. Maybe she’ll tear out those ugly pigtails from her skull? Or use one of her nails to dig into the hideous pale flesh around her skin? Or maybe...maybe she’ll just make the heroic girl watch as she made others suffer starting with that man she wanted to save so desperately. Force her to watch as gave him the excruciating, agonizing torture and show her what it really means to play hero. 

Kyurene chuckled at her own thoughts of how she was going to make the girl suffered when her eyes landed on the wretched machine from before. Finally. She gave a sick smirk as she walked over the machine. This will all be over soon and the humans will be her playthings. She reached the machine and pulled out the tape and just as she was about to put it in...

“Hold it right there!” an annoying, high-pitched voice called out before a piercing pain filled her hand causing her to gave a loud, humiliating cry as Master’s tape was thrown from her hand! Kyurene looked at the source of the pain to see it was some furry Earth creature that was digging it’s fangs into her claw and when she turned around she saw it was that same little brat who clumsily caught the tape and man from before!

Kyurene shrieked. Of course it’s them! These vermin! These insects! Whenever she was close to finishing her mission, they just crawl out of the cracks they were born from! Darn them! She was absolutely sick of seeing their disgusting faces! And now she won’t have to after tonight!

Using her far superior strength, she ripped the creature from her hand and threw it as hard as possible into a nearby wall where a satisfying crunch could be heard. “Luna!” the brat cried out trying to run towards it as the animal whined in pain. However, Kyurene could care less about that! 

“GIVE THAT TAPE BACK!” Kyurene roared as she flew at the girl, ready to rip the head from her throat!

“Watch out!” The man’s voice called and it seemed to reach the brat’s ears as she quickly grabbed the cat and crawled out of the way.

“Why do you even want this!?” The blonde brat cried.

“It belongs to my master!” Kyurene screamed as the girl barely managed to make it back to her feet. “GIVE IT!” she screamed again as she again flew at the girl who was barely dodging her attacks as her eyes darted around. She was probably searching for a weapon to use. Well, too bad! Kyurene raced towards the girl and managed to ensnare her in her claws. The girl began to scream and struggle. Pathetic. “You should’ve given the tape back when you had the chance,” Kyurene whispered against her ear. 

“No! This belongs to Amade-san!” the brat cried as she continued to fight against her inevitable death. Kyurene hesitated and became visibly confused. What was this human talking about? That tape is the property of Master Jadeite! 

As Kyurene boiled at the implication that her Master’s tape could belong to some human, she felt her prisoner violently shift before kicking Kyurene in the face causing the mighty youma to drop the brat as pain and humiliation flooded her beautiful face before pure, unbridled hate burned in her eyes as she saw the girl rise to her feet with her master’s tape still in her grip!

“Let’s get out of here,” the male human cried as the brat and her creature escaped through the door.

Kyurene panted. Heavy. Angered. Furious. She gave the loudest, ear-shattering screech before she flew over and tore the door off its hinges!

Kyurene now knew what she’ll do when she has claws in them. She won’t hesitate. She’ll savor their screams no matter who saw. 

She made a mistake letting them live. She won’t make it again.

“Do you think we lost her?” Usagi said through heavy breaths from the ache in her lungs, as she and Yusuke Amade ran as far as they could from the room where that monster was.

Unfortunately, her answer came not from Amade-san but from the screech of merciless anger from down the hallway followed by what sounded like wood cracking and metal snapping from behind them.

Oh no! 

The hall filled with shrieks and screams and something that sounded like, “I shall tear the flesh from your bones!”. It was this that made Usagi’s blood run cold. This was terrible! The monster wasn’t playing around anymore! Flaps of wings were heard far down the hallway and they were getting closer and closer! Usagi was terrified! She knew she had to keep going though! She had to get away from that thing and stop it before it could hurt them! But first, they needed to lose that thing!

Before she knew it though, she felt her hand being grabbed and snapped into another direction before being shoved into what seemed like a supplies closet. If she was being honest it happened so fast, she wasn’t really sure what happened.

All she could hear was her own breathing and her own thoughts going crazy. What were they going to do now!? They were still in this building with that monster! Not only that, for some weird reason, that thing wants Yusuke Amade’s tape! But why?! Why did that thing want with it? And why did it say it belonged to her master or whatever?

“Are you alright?” she heard. It came from Yusuke Amade who was leaning against the door 

Usagi didn’t really know. She was still shaking from fear and she felt like she was about to cry so she was definitely not alright but should she say that to Amade-san? No. She didn’t want to worry him. “I’m fine,” Usagi said with a forced smile. She kind of doubted either Amade-san or Luna believed it.

“Hm...” was all Yusuke Amade said as he took slow steady breaths and for a moment that was the only sound between them.

“Amade-san?” Usagi asked as she held out the tape to him. “Why did that monster want your tape?”

Yusuke Amade looked up at her and said, “I have no idea. Wait-” he took the tape and looked it over. “This isn��t my tape.” Wait, what? 

“What do you mean?” Usagi said ripping the tape away from him and trying to see what he was talking about but couldn’t find anything all that off. Wait a minute. Something twinkled. She squinted her eyes and faintly saw something...off. It kind of looked like a very thin vein but its color was a dark purple that blended into the black almost perfectly. As Usagi was looking over the tape she suddenly felt Luna tense on her shoulder with her her black fur standing on edge, which could only mean one thing. The teen’s eyes widened. This tape belonged to their enemies! 

No wonder Amade-san’s been hunted down by that thing!

Well, what now? Should they keep it? Try to destroy it? Find out why she had it? Usagi looked over to Luna for help with her questions but saw that she was growling at the tape. That doesn’t exactly help. The teen turned back to the stupidly evil tape in her hands that caused this whole 

Suddenly, Usagi was startled out of her  by a loud-ear shattering scream from the hallway!

Oh no! Someone else was in the building with that thing!

“Akiko!” she heard Yusuke Amade cry as his face went sheet white but without another thought he threw open the door to the storage room. Usagi followed him in a flash. Someone needed her help! 

They ran through the halls when they found the monster holding up a pretty woman by her short brown hair as she wrestled against the creature. “I’ll ask once more, where did the humans go!?” they heard the monster say in a tone filled with hate.

“I d-don’t know what you’re talking about!” the woman with tears coming out of her eyes as she struggled against the monster’s claw. 

“Then you are of no use to me,” the monster said as the claws of her other hand lengthened and sharpened until they reached the pale flesh of the woman as she screamed so loud, Usagi had to cover her ears.

“Stop!” That wasn’t her. Was that...Was that...Was that Yusuke Amade? She looked up and there he was shaking but his fearful eyes won’t leave the monster’s who looked happy and mad all at the same time.

“You humans are so predictable,” the monster said, as she moved to wrap her arm around the woman’s neck before pressing her sharp claws to her throat which made her freeze in terror. Oh that was so not good! What was Usagi going to do!?

“Please don’t hurt her!” Yusuke Amade begged. He sounded absolutely frantic. Almost like he knew this woman. Wait a minute. Was this woman Yanagi-san? Oh no. Usagi’s face whipped back to the woman who shook with fear and silently falling down her face

“Then give me the tape,” the monster said as she kept her claws to her throat. 

“Please help me,” Yanagi-san said in fear as she turned her terror-filled eyes to them.

Usagi looked down at the tape. Oh, what was Usagi going to do!? On one hand, Yanagi-san’s life was literally hanging in the balance! On the other hand, Usagi still didn’t know what this tape would do the people and it could be something awful! But could she really sacrifice an innocent woman? 

...

“Do you promise to let her go?!” Usagi shouted. She felt everyone’s eyes turn to her. “If we give you the tape will she be free to go?” Usagi briefly glance at Luna whose expression changed to one of shock and horror. 

The monster turned towards her with a roll of her eyes and said, “She’s of no use so sure.”

“Promise me,” Usagi demanded. “Promise you’ll let her go and tape’s yours.”

“Fine. I promise,” the monster said.

“Alright,” Usagi said as she slowly lifted her the evil tape towards the evil monster. Usagi could still feel Luna’s eyes on her, probably wondering what she was doing. Honestly, she herself didn’t know. This was stupid. This was selfish. But she knew it was the right thing to do. She couldn’t sacrifice even a single innocent life.

The monster came close Usagi looked over at Luna before a thought hit her. Just as the monster was about to reach out and grab the tape, Usagi winded up her arm and threw is as hard as she could and (luckily) it went flying over the monster’s head and across the hallway. “NO!” the monster cried as she threw Yanagi-san against a wall with a hard thud, rendering her unconscious.  Quickly, Usagi and Yusuke Amade ran to her side to make sure she was alright.  Thankfully, she was! 

Meanwhile, Luna leapt into the air and grabbed the tape in her mouth before she flung the tape at a wall reducing the evil Dark Kingdom weapon to a pile of debris that quickly turned to ash! 

Well, at least that was solved.

Onto the much, MUCH bigger problem.

The monster let out a barely coherent screech that promised death for everyone in the room! She and Amade-san were still in danger! “Take her somewhere safe! And stay hidden! Quickly!” Usagi cried out and Amade-san nodded as he ever so gently lifted his crush into his arms like a bride before racing out of the hallway. 

“YOU HAVE DOOMED ME!” the monster screeched before it began to rapidly flap its wings. Wait...What was it doing? The air in the hallway began to pick up and swirl. Great amounts of energy began to appear before it turned into rings that didn’t look friendly! “Run!” Luna cried as the two took off, barely being able to fight against the raging air as the energy continued to build! They began to run faster and faster before they just barely made it behind the safety of a corner wall as the supersonic rings darted through the air, with a loud deafening BOOM as they destroyed everything in its path including a wall.

Usagi looked at the destruction as her ears screamed in pain. That could have been her and Luna. THAT COULD HAVE BEEN HER AND LUNA! 

Her breathing grew heavy, her mind started to race, the ringing in her ears continued. 

“U...gi!”

They could’ve died if not for Luna.

“Us..i!”

 It was the only thing she was focusing on. 

“U...agi!”

The only thing she could contemplate.

“Usagi!

It was Luna. She barely realized it.

“Wh-what?” Usagi asked, her frightful eyes turning towards the cat.

“You have to transform,” Luna said. 

Was she crazy? “What about that sonic wave thing?! I don’t know how much my tiara can do against that! And I don’t really want to die today.” 

Luna looked down and pondered for a bit before a lightbulb hovered over her head. “Do you remember that recording room we found the monster in?” Usagi nodded. “Lead her there and I’ll have everything ready!”

Usagi looked into Luna’s red eyes that pleaded with her to trust her. The blonde paused before sighing.

“I’m trusting you, Luna,” she said. “MOON PRISM POWER MAKE UP!”

It was freezing cold outside with some clouds still in the sky as Sailor Moon searched for that monster and sincerely hope it didn’t get too far. Unfortunately the Sailor Guardian was having a tough time even finding the monster! Oh no! What if it got away and was going to do something terrible to other people!? Or what if it was going back to the base and Sailor Moon wouldn’t be able to catch it?! 

No! She couldn’t let that happen! What if it came back?! What if it hunted Amade-san and Yanagi-san?! What if it came after her and Luna?! NO! There had to be something Sailor Moon could do! 

Wait...There was!

Sailor Moon breathed in before she screamed “HERE I AM! SAILOR MOON!” to the Heavens! She wasn’t sure that worked.

She heard a shriek and the beating of bat wings. Or maybe it did!

Behind her, she heard the sound of concrete breaking and heavy, angry breathing. “So you’re the one that destroyed Morga, Balm, Doux, and Father Chanela,” it said with venom dripping from its voice.

“Yes!” Sailor Moon yelped in fear before quickly shook her head before she got into position. “How dare you attack innocent people so you can use the beauty of music to make people into your mindless servants! I am the Pretty Guardian who fights for love and for justice! I am Sailor Moon and in the name of of the moon, I will punish you!”

The monster growled and said, “Was that supposed to impress me?”

“It should,” Sailor Moon said defiantly. 

“It doesn’t!” the monster cried frantically. “Actually, it just makes me want to gouge your eyes out and stuff them down your throat!”

Sailor Moon visibly gulped. “Well, I’m not going to let you do that.”

“You don’t have a choice,” it said. “Or I could just finish you off quickly and then be showered with praise by my Master and Great Queen and maybe then they’ll overlook how those blasted humans ruined the mission.” The monster began cackle as it rapidly flapped its wings causing the wind to pick up like last time as Sailor Moon’s gut warned her to run if she didn’t want to end up like the wall in Jam Records. Sailor Moon tried to take off but it was like the wind was so much stronger out here! It felt like she couldn’t move at all!

She heard the energy building behind her which caused her gut to scream at her to run with all her might. She couldn’t though. She could barely turn her head in time to see the supersonic rings collide with her. 

Everything became kind of blur because she just felt pain. Just terrible pain just everywhere in her body. It honestly felt like she had been hit by a thousand horses directly in the face. Not only that, she couldn’t see since it was all weird and fuzzy and her ears were ringing with a sound that sounded like TV static. She felt stone and metal uncomfortably poke her body. To top it all off, her head was pounding! 

“So, the mighty Sailor Moon really was nothing more than a human,” Sailor Moon barely heard. She really could only groan in response. “Broken. Alone. In pain,” it said coming closer before it held its knife-like claws closer to her face. “This honestly too easy,” the monster said as Sailor Moon felt the coldness of metal coming closer and closer. What was she going to do? She could barely move, much less fight! “Isn’t it sad Sailor Moon? Coming all this way and managing to fall within seconds of our fight? Aw well. Without you in the way, I’m free to do whatever I want to the humans and that wretched creature who destroyed the plans of my Master.” Wait...She was talking about Luna and Amade-san and Yanagi-san. No. NO! That can’t happen! 

Sailor Moon needed to be strong. She needed to fight the pain. She was Sailor Moon for crying out loud!

The sailor-suited senshi slowly and painfully raised her arm. Unfortunately, her vision was still blurry and she could only make out colors and barely visible shapes. Deep breaths. Just take deep breaths.

She grabbed something. 

It was fleshy but cold. 

It was the monster’s wrist. 

“Why you-” the monster cried as it desperately and frantically tried to drive her claw into Sailor Moon’s face, but she couldn’t. Sailor Moon was holding her back with a strength the superheroine didn’t even know she had, especially with all the pain she had. 

But she did. 

Deep breath. Take a deep breath. 

She needed to escape. 

Using most of her strength, Sailor Moon fought against the monster and managed to turn her own claws back at her, even managing to leave a large gash across her face. “AH!” the monster cried in pain as it ripped her hand away from Sailor Moon to hide her now scarred face. It honestly made Sailor Moon feel bad but she also knew she couldn’t dwell on that fact. 

As the monster sat there screaming, Sailor Moon began to quickly as she could crawl away before managing to barely stagger to her feet as she quickly looked around despite her vision still not being the best. Her eyes landed on something. It was the elevator! 

Thank goodness! 

She just had to make it there- “I will break you!” the monster cried with anger obvious in her eyes as it furiously stood with a black ooze-like substance dripping down from the wound.

Oh no. Run!

Sailor Moon willed her body to run! Just run! It still hurt and she couldn’t even properly see but she knew she just had to reach that elevator and then she can reunite with Luna and this whole nightmare would be over. 

That is if she can reach it though!

She felt a stabbing pain in her back that nearly brought her to her knees. She heard the monster growling, “You won’t escape this time!”

No. 

Gotta keep going!

Sailor Moon used everything she had and ran. 

Pain. Pain everywhere!

Deep breaths. Deep breaths!

She dove for the elevator button and soon heard a soft ding that made Usagi cry in joy. Quickly, she used the last of her strength to jump in and desperately and repeatedly pushed the level she wanted as she heard bat wings flapping from outside.

Sailor Moon looked over and saw the crazed look on the monster’s face coming closer and closer with curses spilling from her lips that promised death for the superheroine. The elevator door was slowly closing. Sailor Moon continued to jam the button in an attempt to get the door to close faster, even though she knew it wouldn’t do anything. 

Luckily, the elevator door was almost close. 

Unluckily, the monster’s arm stuck through and Sailor Moon felt it’s claws clinging to her arm. 

“Let go!” Sailor Moon cried as the monster started to pull her towards the almost closed elevator.

“You. Will. Die!” the monster cried from outside. 

Oh, crud! And it really hurt!

What was Sailor Moon going to do!? The elevator won’t move with the arm stuck inside. 

Quickly, she thought and a possibly stupid idea came to her mind but it was all she got. 

She slammed her entire body against the elevator door. Once. Twice. Three times until she felt doozy! 

Thankfully, the monster took its arm back and the doors closed. The elevator started to move and Sailor Moon fell to the elevator ground and took a deep breath of relief.

She was alive. She was in serious pain, but she was alive.

Speaking of the pain, she cringed a bit as her body now safer than before, could feel the whole onslaught of the monster’s attack. Everything ached, everything shook, and she had to focus on breathing. She never felt pain like this before.

But then again, he was always there. Her masked hero and savior, Tuxedo Mask. He always fought by her side. Protected her when she could’ve died or been seriously injured. He made her feel stronger.

But this time...

“Why? Wasn’t Tuxedo Mask here?” she thought to herself as she leaned against on of the metal walls. Did he forget about her? Did he not think she was worth it? Did he just always go around saving pretty, sailor-suited senshi? Or...maybe he had something else to do. Maybe he already had someone.

Why did that thought hurt so much more than any bruise? 

She heard a loud ding breaking from her thoughts. She couldn’t worry about that now. It was showtime!

She grabbed onto one of the metal bars to pull herself up as the elevator doors opened and she staggered out. 

Somehow and by some miracle she managed to make it to the recording studio from before where Luna was messing around with the buttons on the big recording table where a bunch of microphones were scattered around the recording booth. “I-I’m here,” Sailor Moon panted out as she leaned against the doorframe. 

“Good,” Luna said before looking over to see her charge looking mangled and almost beaten. “What happened?”

“I-I got hit...by that ring magic thing...then a wall,” Sailor Moon said.

Luna’s eyes widened before she jumped down and inspected her. “Well, you’re lucky that your henshin managed to protect you.”

“Protect me?” Sailor Moon said kind of offended. She was thrown into a wall!

“You could’ve easily died if you hadn’t been transformed,” Luna replied.

Oh...Wait, what?!

Before Sailor Moon could ask any more questions. Scraping and the beating of wings could be heard. “The monster,” Sailor Moon whispered.

“You hide,” Luna said. “I’ll lure her into the recording booth so we can get a recording of the sonic waves she creates.” 

“Lure her? Get a recording of the sonic waves? But that would mean she would try to use it on you,” Sailor Moon asked. 

“Yes. You’re too injured to do anything other than throw your tiara,” Luna said. 

“But she could kill you,” Sailor Moon said.

Luna didn’t respond. “Just hide.” She then ran away into the recording booth in full view from the door while Sailor Moon just stared. She was serious? She was going to do this. Sailor Moon looked back at the cat as the bat wings got louder and louder. 

There was no time to reject this. Sailor Moon hid around the side of the table, praying not to be caught as the monster entered and searched the room. Sailor Moon held her breath. She couldn’t be found. 

“Are you looking for Sailor Moon?” Sailor Moon heard Luna say. 

“Yes. Where is she?” the monster snarled at Luna as it walked closer to the table as Sailor Moon willed herself not to make a sound. 

“She’s gone. After you used those sonic waves she abandoned the mission,” Luna said. “Honestly, she’s quite the disappointment if you asked me,” she continued. Sailor Moon felt herself scowl at what Luna said. Well, it was rude!

Sailor Moon leaned over slightly to see the monster walk into the recording booth where Luna was. She quietly gulped. 

“My sonic waves are incredible,” Sailor Moon heard the monster cackle. “Taking off like a child. I guess I really am just that incredible. However, I still haven’t fulfilled my needs yet,” the monster said before it snatched the up Luna held her by her neck and waist as Luna howled in pain as the monster started to slowly bend her body. Sailor Moon gasped. Was she gonna...No. NO! That won’t happen!

She didn’t care what Luna said or the pain she was in! There was no way this monster was going to hurt Luna!

Sailor Moon rose to her feet and stood before the glass with defiance in her eyes. 

The monster saw it to before throwing Luna to the floor which caught Sailor Moon’s attention. “It seems that animal was wrong. Well, no matter I can kill you here and now.”

Sailor Moon saw Luna managing to leave the recording booth a bit injured but thankfully alive. She turned back to the monster. If there was ever a time to enact a plan, it was now. “So what are you going to use your sonic waves on me?” Sailor Moon said.

A loud, empty laugh filled the empty recording studio. “You’re so weak, I wouldn’t want to waste the energy. I’d much prefer to tear you limb from limb,” the monster said.

Well. That wasn’t good. 

Okay, think Sailor Moon! Think! Wait... “Okay,” even Luna looked at her like she was crazy. Honestly, even she was beginning to think she was. “I guess if you don’t have the energy or the strength.”

Sailor Moon watched the monster’s eyes turn from sadistic glee to shock to fury in a manner of seconds. “I have all the strength. A mere human like you wouldn’t understand.”

“I understand that you can’t even set off two of those weird shock wave thingies,” Sailor Moon continued. “ Or you don’t care about anything but hurting people. I’m here, broken and practically beaten. You could stop me right now but you would rather waste your time torturing me than just killing me right here and now. So either you’re bad at priorities which I get or you don’t enough strength to unleash another shockwave.”

The monster was shaking with fury before it screamed, “You want a Sonic Wave that badly! Here!” It began to beat its wings, faster than before as the air in the recording booth began to pick up causing the instruments inside to pick up off the ground and spin around as the rings began to form. 

Sailor Moon’s breathing became labored as she watched those horrible rings form the pain her back and everywhere hitting. No. No. No. Not again. 

She looked over, with fear in her eyes, at Luna who discreetly turned on the recording equipment. Well, at least this will be over soon. Still...The rings were unleashed. 

Sailor Moon heard a loud, ear splitting BOOM! fill the room as she and Luna hit the ground as glass shard went flying everywhere, followed by dust and debris from the wall behind them, and the crash and brass and string instruments as they hit and crashed into the ground. 

Sailor Moon took deep labored breaths as she laid there for a moment, a bit frightened to come out from the safety of her hiding spot before she saw Luna. The black cat jumped without fear to the top of the turntable before unleashing the sonic wave the microphones caught back through the speakers in recording booth where the monster still was causing the room to shake and quiver a bit.

An inhuman, pain-filled scream came from the monster. Sailor Moon stood up to see the monster covering its ears trying to resist its own powers. If she didn’t know what a monster this thing was, Sailor Moon might’ve been heartbroken at the sad sight. 

“NOW, SAILOR MOON! BEFORE SHE RECOVERS!” Sailor Moon heard Luna cry. 

Oh right!

Sailor Moon touched the red jewel on her golden tiara turning it from an accessory to a deadly weapon. “Moon Tiara Boomerang!” She let it fly.

How pathetic! Tricked and brought to her knees by a mere child! Kyurene was sickened. As she fought against the pain of her own powers, she saw a blinding light head for her! It was spinning through the air before it darted right towards her chest before stabbing it through and coming out the other end.

Kyurene merely looked ahead as she felt her body being ripped apart at the brat who brought about her demise when she noticed something. The creature was the same that insufferable brat with the male from before. Did that mean? She looked into the eyes of Sailor Moon and saw something. Those same darned defiant of the brat. That meant...”It’s you....” Kyurene breathed out.

It was her last thought. Her body was not a pile of moon dust on the floor.

The sadistic youma known, Kyurene, was gone forevermore.

“Are you sure you’ll be okay?” Luna asked as Sailor Moon limped into the lobby of Jam Records.

“I’ll be fine,” Sailor Moon groaned. At least it was all over now. That monster was gone and Amade-san and Yanagi-san were safe and free to go out now. 

Wait! AMADE-SAN! YANAGI-SAN! She totally forgot about them during all that! Oh no! Where were they?!

Sailor Moon looked around frantically when they heard voices coming from a door behind the reception desk. The two walked over to it and Sailor Moon opened it to reveal it was a small break room where Yanagi-san was gently attending to Amade-san.

“You were so brave, Amade-san,” Yanagi-san said as she wrapped his hands in bandages. “But I gotta say you were pretty reckless, putting yourself in danger like that.”

“I-I couldn’t let you die, Yanagi-san,”  Amade-san said. 

“Akiko. Call Akiko-chan. I think running for our lives from some kind of bat demon is close enough,” Yanagi-san continues placing a hand on his.  

“Then call me Yusuke,” Amade-san said, placing his over hers. Sailor Moon smiled at the moment, when they finally noticed she was there. “Who are you?” Amade-san asked, curiously.

“Oh me...Um...I’m Usagi,” she thought back to what she said as Usagi, “...’s friend! The one she told you could help. Well, you don’t have to worry about that bat demon thing anymore. Gone and gone!”

The two stared at her for a moment before Yanagi-san gave a gentle, “Thank you.” 

However, Amade-san stared at Sailor Moon a moment longer before smirking, “Yes thank you. And tell your friend thank you as well.”

Sailor Moon gave an awkward smile before saying, “Well, I’ll just leave you two alone then! Bye!” Quickly, she shut the door before heading out into the cool night sky where the clouds mostly cleared and the moon was shining again. Sailor Moon took a moment to breathe in the night air, it would’ve been so nice to share this with...she groaned in pain.

“Sailor Moon!” Luna cried as her teenaged charge fell to the ground. 

“I’m fine, Luna, but I’m just going to rest a moment,” she said sadly as she sat on the cold asphalt in her tiny skirt. 

“How are we ever going to get your home in this state?” Luna asked as she jumped onto Sailor Moon’s lap. 

Sailor Moon didn’t reply. She just thought back to the battle and how she wished Tuxedo Mask had been there. Maybe if he had, she wouldn’t be in so much pain. maybe she would’ve had an easier time defeating that thing. Maybe...She looked up to the moon. She just wished he was here now.

“Sailor Moon!” she heard from somewhere high up. It couldn’t be...”Sailor Moon! Is that you?” It was. It was Tuxedo Mask! She felt joy hit her in waves! Wishes really do come true!

“Where did you come from?!” Luna demanded as the tuxedo-wearing superhero and savior jumped down to Sailor Moon before leaning down to look at her. 

Tuxedo Mask just ignored the feline to look at Sailor Moon’s injuries. “What happened?” he asked as he looked at the bruises on her arms and legs.

“There was...an attack,” Sailor Moon said as her cheeks flared up the way they always did around him as she gestured toward the large, gaping hole in the lobby wall. “I was hit but don’t worry! I’m fine now. See,” she tried to prove it by standing as he stood too, only to stagger a bit into his waiting arms which made her cheeks even warmer if that was possible.

She looked up at Tuxedo Mask, and even despite his mask, could tell he felt guilt and shame. “I’m sorry, Sailor Moon. I-I...should’ve been there,” Tuxedo Mask says as he held onto her arms and gazed into her deep blue eyes. 

“And what were you doing before that?” Luna asked obviously suspicious of the masked man. “And funny you just showed up once the attack was over.” 

“Luna,” Sailor Moon scolded. 

“It’s okay, Sailor Moon,” he said with a gentle smirk before turning serious. “I was in the middle of finishing up some business when I heard what sounded like a boom sound so I rushed over here as fast as I could,” his expression turned grave, “but I was too late.”

“Yes,” Luna hissed.

“Not necessarily,” Sailor Moon disagreed. “I need a way home since we can’t exactly get there, like this,” she finished with a gesture to her injured body. 

“You are not revealing your identity to a total stranger, Sailor Moon!” Luna cried. 

“You said it yourself, we need to get home and Tuxedo Mask is offering to help, right?” she said the last part with pleading eyes towards the tuxedo wearing hero. 

“Right,” Tuxedo Mask said before turning to Luna. “How about I drop her off in her neighborhood and then I won’t know.”

Luna scowled before begrudgingly agreeing by hopping onto Sailor Moon’s shoulder and letting the Sailor senshi tell him the name of her neighborhood.

Tuxedo Mask nodded and then proceeded to bridal carry a now badly blushing Sailor Moon before he jumped and hopped over the Tokyo skyline and shopping districts. 

Sailor Moon for her part felt like she was in Heaven. Safely and neatly, tucked into the arms of the man she loved, his warmth rocking her while his strong arms protectively held like the world’s most precious cargo, and the pain she had felt started to fade. She looked up to her hero who looked so focus and dedicated to getting her home. It made her feel safe. 

No. 

She knew she was safe with him.

She felt herself being rocked more and more and started to fall asleep.

“Sailor Moon,” she heard which woke her. She groggily opened her eyes to see Tuxedo Mask staring at her with a smile. She gave back a smile. “We’re here,” he said. 

Sailor Moon for a moment wondered what that meant until she became more aware more awake. They were in her neighborhood. He would have to leave soon. She felt her face go visibly sad at that as he slowly put her on the ground. Cold, night air chilled her to the bone. It hadn’t even been a minute she already missed his warmth. 

“I guess I should go now,” she sadly said as Luna tugged her bun as a way to say get a move on. 

She looked up at him to see his face looked rather sad. Wait! Did that mean he wanted her to stay!? She felt hearts in her eyes. “I suppose, but here,” he said as he summoned a beautiful red rose with shining, velvety petals. “Think of this as a token of my sincerest apology.” 

“You don’t have to keep apologizing, though I will take the rose,” Sailor Moon finished holding it close to her heart. 

He gave a small smile before saying, “Adieu,” and jumping away from the neigborhood, where Sailor Moon still stood with a smile of love on her lovestruck face.

She never had a scolding that bad before. It was the next morning and the moment she stepped out of her room, her parents had screamed about how irresponsible she was for not calling and staying out all night, for worrying them sick, and not even telling them when they got home. Her father even thought she had been sneaking out to meet a boy before almost fainting at that thought.

Needless to say, she was grounded. 

No arcade. No video games. Just studying. 

She honestly saw it as cruel and unusual punishment.

Because here she was, having a free day and she was locked inside with book about English. Ugh! 

She banged her head on the pages of her book before she saw the rose that Tuxedo Mask gave her standing proud and tall in its vase as the sunlight shimmered off the crimson petals. 

She sighed as she put her pencil down and held the rose to her nose and took a deep whiff in. It was incredible. Just like him. Her love.

Speaking of love, her thoughts turned to what happened with Yanagi-san and Amade-san when the knock on a door became furious and desperate.

Who the heck could that be? 

Usagi stood up from her desk and walked to the door where the knocking got louder and louder. 

The unjustly grounded teenager opened the door to see Naru standing there with big tears in her eyes. It honestly freaked Usagi out a bit. “What happened?!” Usagi cried out.

“Terrible! Horrible! Disaster!” Naru shouted as she looked around the living room. 

“Why? What’s wrong?!” Usagi cried. Oh please don’t be another monster! She was still had the bruises from the last one!

Naru grabbed the controller and turned on the living room TV . “Just watch,” Naru said as she fell onto the couch as an interview began to play starring...Amade-san!

“So Amade-san, how did you and Yanagi-san begin dating?” the off-screen interviewer asked. 

“Well, let’s just say a friend helped us out in a bad situation and it brought us closer,” Amade-san explained. 

“And who is this ‘friend’?” the interviewer continued.

“I don’t think she’d want me to reveal that but let’s just say my new album, Moonlight Lady is named in honor of her,” he continued as a picture of an album cover appeared in the left corner above his head showing a blue ombre background with a large golden moon in the center behind a silhouette of Sailor Moon!

Usagi gave a huge smile while Naru cried over her ‘lost love being taken from her’. Maybe something good did come out of last night despite everything. 

The TV suddenly shut off by a pale hand that belonged to her purple-haired mother. “Usagi! You know the rules. No TV when you’re grounded!”

Then again, she was still grounded.

Sailor Moon is the only series where I have different ships depending on the adaption. For the most part, manga and anime have the same ships, but the absolute curveball that was PGSM (my favorite adaption, hands down) gave me a TON of new ships I’d have never considered otherwise, who I DON’T ship in the manga/anime.

1. Usagi/Mamoru. Across all adaptions, I ship these two, and the reason is actually funny. I never used to like either of them, so I just shoved them together. It wasn’t until PGSM that I ever liked Usagi at all. I found her to be whiney and annoying in the anime, and once I got my hands on the manga, my dislike of anime Usagi had permeated too deep for me to like manga Usagi. PGSM Usagi is a much more expanded concept of Usagi as a whole, and Mamoru (while still embodying Sailor Moon’s very own Princess Peach) has a whole arc of development and backstory himself. PGSM is the only adaption in which I like Mamoru, even now.

2. Ami/Nephrite, PGSM only. PGSM has a whole side story for many of its minor characters and expands on the girls outside of the concept of senshi. Tbh PGSM is a slice of life show disguised as a tokusatsu, and it’s super apparent in how they treat the characters. Ami has an entire arc of her own where she ends up brainwashed and has several scenes with Nephrite, who is sort of the black sheep of the Shitennou for reasons that are never explained. This fledging relationship continues after Nephrite is reincarnated as human and it’s really cute to see Ami develop outside of her relationship with Usagi (her strongest relationship in this series) and the girls. Nephrite is hotheaded and angry at the world and Ami makes him just so soft.

3. Ami/Zoisite, manga and Crystal. While I very much detest the first two seasons of Crystal for their abominable animation (through no fault of the animators, I blame Toei and their complete disregard of their fans and employees), I DO like that they tried to work in the senshi/Shitennou romance that Naoko hinted at in the art books. It was stupid rushed but it’s the only incarnation that really attempts it. I wish it had had time to develop.

4. Rei/Minako, PGSM only. PGSM only deals with the Dark Kingdom (sadly) and Rei/Minako are its Haruka/Michiru. I actually ship them harder than I ship PGSM Usagi/Mamoru. Several episodes are given over to the development of their relationship, which is not easy to do given the way they took Minako in this series, and Rei is the only one of the girls to even have a real relationship with Minako, even over Usagi. They trust each other on a deep level, and fight with each others’ weapons at two critical points in the series.

5. Minako/Zoisite, PGSM only. Zoisite in this series, like most of the Shitennou, differs drastically from his manga and anime component, and I actually really like this one more than I like him in the anime and manga. Beryl’s hold on Zoisite is the weakest of all the Shitennou, and he spends his time doing exactly three things: playing piano, pining over Mamoru Endymion, and stalking Minako. (Truth be told, I enjoy his relationship with Endymion more, but the one with Minako leads into my next point.)

6. Minako/Kunzite, anime and manga. Minako managed to bag not one but two Shitennou with her love powers and that is a FEAT. You get it, girl. I really like the dynamic of two leaders together, and really enjoy Silver Millennium Minako/Kunzite fics.

7. Makoto/Motoki, PGSM only. This was another fun little thing PGSM did, and Makoto is the only other senshi to have a confirmed relationship in the series. Motoki himself is pretty fleshed out for a minor character, with his own little quirks (turtles!), and he is over the moon for Makoto. By the end of the series they’re engaged.

8. Haruka/Michiru, anime and manga. Who DOESN’T ship HaruMichi? I actually shipped HaruMichi way before I ever shipped anyone else on this list. Along with Touya/Yukito from Cardcaptor Sakura, they were THE definition of LGBTQ+ relationships (for me) for much of my childhood. They have an extremely adult relationship, possibly even an open relationship (or at least Michiru seems to have no problem with Haruka’s flirting hobby), which isn’t really something you see often in anime. I love them, they are goals.

9. Haruka/Michiru/Setsuna, anime and manga. Very specifically during the time they are raising Hotaru. Sometimes a family can be three moms and their child the incarnation of death and destruction and that’s beautiful. They’re just such a cohesive unit that I have a hard time believing that they live together and HaruMichi HAVEN’T invited Setsuna to join them from time to time. They’re also the first OT3 I ever shipped.

10. Helios/Chibiusa, anime and manga. I think the Helios/Chibiusa shippers are as numerous as the Usagi/Mamoru shippers tbh. Like Mamoru, Helios also is a damsel in distress for much of his arc (I guess the Tsukinos have a type, which raises some interesting questions about Ikuko and Kenji), and what I really liked was that, despite the single kiss they shared, it was never really pushed on us? I think Chibiusa/Helios is the first thing I ever shipped without the source material directly telling me to do so, because I wanted them together SO BAD and was SO PISSED they weren’t. 

11. Chibiusa/Hotaru, anime and manga. Another ship I put together on my own with no direction from the source material, and the first lesbian ship I ever did that with. They are just too close and love each other too much, and Chibiusa shares more pictures with Hotaru in official media (art books, stills, promo art) than her supposed future love interest Helios! They’re just a very sweet ship, two girls trying to figure out love and stuff. 

12. Setsuna/Endymion, anime and manga. Setsuna has a thing for Endymion, but never really seems to transfer that to Mamoru. I do like unrequited ships, and this one is my favorite.

HONORABLE MENTION

1. Ami/Usagi, PGSM. Ami has a huge lesbian crush on Usagi in this version. I’m not even making this up. She ends up brainwashed due to her insecurity and depression that Usagi is replacing her by making more friends and getting a boyfriend. Usagi, of course, is oblivious.

2. Kunzite/Zoisite, classic anime. Classic anime gave us (female) Zoisite and Kunzite (named Malachite in the dub I watched) as a couple, which I actually really enjoyed. I remember being disappointed when I read the manga and Zoisite was not only not female but also not banging Malachite. They were another adult relationship, way before HaruMichi existed, that I looked forward to seeing onscreen. I’m cool now with Zoisite not being female, and Malachite’s real name being Kunzite, but I still really like their relationship in classic. Plus, they’re the only ship that can crossover the adaptions in my brain to form the ultimate ot3 Minako/Zoisite/Kunzite. You get it, Minako.

For anyone that’s new to this, this is how I keep track of all of the things I enjoy and/or create throughout the year. I have literally been doing this since I had a livejournal. I think the first one was 2011? Maybe? In which case, woohoo, ten years of scrapbooking!

It’s a nice little snippet of my life and helps to organize my brain.

Sailor Mars Birthday Tribute

I am so late on posting this but I just did not have time to edit. For Mars I wanted to talk about her 90s anime version and her much better manga version.

Let me start by laying my bias wide open. I never liked Sailor Mars. As a kid I thought she was unnecessarily mean. She was and still is my least favorite, besides ChibiMoon. She’s beautiful, and her powers and attacks are awesome. As for how she fits into the overall scheme of things, I have major issues with how the anime portrayed her compared to how Naoko intentioned her. Frankly, I can’t help but view 90s anime Rei as an imposter and I’ll explain why...

Ok, first let’s talk about 90’s anime-Rei. We know she’s very hard working, goes to an elite girls’s Catholic school and wants to be an independent career woman when she grows up. Yet, for some reason (*cough*patriarchy) she sees Mamoru in season one and thinks he’s perfect so she’s gotta have him. She embarrasses herself going all boy crazy over him (he literally steps on her head and just walks away) and he seems like a typical clueless dude who doesn’t realize she *likes* him. I relate hardcore to Mamoru here. She’s so thirsty and he is so not. Then fast forward to after Endymion gets taken and Rei slaps Usagi calling her a coward. It’s meant to be some great emotional scene that some fans latch on to. Yet, it’s not Rei’s slap that motivates Usagi. It just hurts her. Go watch it again (epi35); it’s the voice of Mask from her memory, gently and patiently encouraging her, as always, that she is strong and can fight that spurs Moon into action. We’ve seen over and over that Usagi responds to patient encouragement over violence, just like when she does when she faces the baddest villains. Yet, the 90s anime always has Rei cutting her down. As far as I’m concerned, it’s just the patriarchy at work, trying to convince young girls that the boy or girl who’s mean to you really does care about you. It’s toxic and just plain stupid.

Now, am I saying 90s anime Rei doesn’t really care about Usagi? No. Not at all. She’s her Senshi and they share the same heart and the same dream to protect those they love together. Of course she loves Usagi. My issue is how the 90s anime portrays that dynamic. It’s spreading toxicity within female friendships and trying to sell it as genuine. I also understand that Mars’s fiery personality is what a lot of her fans love about her. I’m not saying that’s bad either, even if it’s an inaccurate representation of the character Naoko created. Apparently, it was Ikuhara that wanted the anime to change her cold and aloof personality to “fiery”. To perpetuate the patriarchal tropes I’ve mentioned, the anime tried to paint her as Usagi’s bff of the group, usurping Minako’s place. In the manga, Minako is the Leader of the Senshi and the one closest to Usagi in personality and in her role as the Leader of Serenity’s guards. Yet the anime is constantly trying to make Mars the one that is extra special to Usagi. Case in point, at the end of Stars the first voice we hear address Eternal Moon after she defeats Galaxia is Rei but in the manga, Usagi is drawn hugging Minako first. These little moments bother me, probably a little too much.

Then there’s the love triangle they tried to created with her and Mamoru. Fucking kill me. The love triangle garbage is just typical, patriarchal tropism within the storyline that has no place in the SM story in regards to Mars. Let’s make two friends like the same dude bc that’s drama that people have been conditioned to enjoy. It’s lame as far as I’m concerned. Let’s take a moment to remember the random, stupid and pointless scene in the curry episode where ChibiUsa and Mamoru run into Rei and after a moment of awkwardness they decide to go find Usagi together. Tell me that’s not the patriarchy trying to validate one woman’s place by using another woman as comparison instead of letting her stand on her own. 😒 And they’re trying to backtrack on the whole Rei liking Mamoru episode. This isn’t Rei’s fault obviously, I’m just using this scene to explicate why I don’t like the dynamic the anime created, and why that makes Mars a difficult one for me to get excited about.

There’s no way you can convince me that Mars’s bitchiness wasn’t a direct result of a “male perspective” (as Naoko called it). The idea that female bffs bully each other and cat fight all the time is ludicrous. As a 32yo woman (and lifelong Moonie) with a tight circle of girlfriends, there isn’t a single one of us who would tolerate such toxicity from the other, even at 14yo. It just isn’t realistic, unless it’s a bad relationship. I’ll give the anime credit for getting one thing right - her bravery. In both the manga and the anime, Mars is fearless. She charges into battle and gives it her all. She doesn’t let any doubt get in her way. She does not hesitate or dwell on self-doubt. And that alone is reason enough to love her.

Now, let’s discuss Manga-Rei. Because Adult-Moonie-Me LOVES manga-Mars. She actually appears in Codename Sailor V outside the arcade. She says the atmosphere is “disquieting” and leaves. In the manga, she’s very quiet and reserved. There is no bickering or cat fighting between her and Usagi. She’s also probably the most objectively beautiful of the Inners. She’s suppose to be “slender”, with long black hair and brown eyes which are sometimes seen as purple. When Usagi first sees her on the bus, she thinks she’s soooo beautiful. And another time, when they’re at the beach/pool, guys keep buying Rei drinks but she’s not flirting or giving them any attention, bc she is not boy crazy. Sis is enjoying those drinks tho.

Her awakening in the manga is very similar to the anime with the exception that’s she sees a premonition of Usagi and Jadeite that makes her go find the bus. Like the other Senshi, she is drawn to Usagi.

In her manga profile, her dislikes are television, modern society (the anime has her immersed in pop culture, going so far as to make her write her own songs and dance at the school festival), canned asparagus and men. It’s implied that she doesn’t like men or care for them bc of her father. He never had time for her and she doesn’t have a good relationship with him. Plus in a short story, she has a guy she likes but he chooses to follow her father’s footsteps into politics. So she kisses him and is like, boy, bye. ✌🏽 She considers men emotionally weak, untrustworthy and is generally disinterested in them, even if they’re buying her drinks and fawning over her. Same, Sis.

She is described as beautiful and “reserved”, but “scary” when she’s angry. She so beautiful that when Mamoru’s underclassman, Asanuma, sees her, he thinks she would be the perfect girlfriend for Mamoru (who Asanuma thinks is perfect) and that she should be Mamoru’s ideal type. He’s really surprised that Usagi is so *ordinary*.

Rei has strong precognition and has an affinity to fire. Ironically, there is nothing in Shintoism about fire reading, so that must just be a shoutout to the Greek influence on the manga. I love her psychic abilities in both the anime and the manga. Random fun fact: Naoko worked at a Shinto temple for a while before or maybe during college.

Mars is one of the only Senshi, like Michiru, who can use an item as an attack in her civilian and Senshi form. Her “ofuda” (Shinto talismans) are powerful enough to disperse evil and make regular people faint (remember anime epi w/Unazuki’s mouth getting sealed and in the manga/crystal she accidentally “purifies” Usagi, causing her to faint). Mikos (shrine maidens) are known to use archery attacks, so civilian Rei was already proficient in archery before awakening as Mars. Also, just like Jupiter’s earrings stay on her when she transforms, Mars is always wearing a pendant and when she transforms, it attaches at the waist to her fuku.

Mars also, uniquely, has her own guardians: the Crows, Phobos and Deimos. In the anime, the crows never take human form as they do in the manga. In the Dead Moon arc, Jupiter and Mercury power up by speaking with their inner consciousness. But Mars powers up by speaking with the human forms of her crows. This is a great moment in the manga bc Phobos and Deimos basically tell Rei that’s it’s ok to not want or desire men and marriage. She is the asexual goddess everyone overlooks and I love this aspect to her personality. The Crows are the ones to give her the Mars Crystal which is her starseed. We also find out here that Mars pledged a vow of Chastity to Serenity in the SilMill. They don’t explain the reasons behind the vow, but considering Rei’s spirituality and serious conservatism, it’s understandable. Also, while Phobos and Deimos are named after the moons on Mars, in the Stars Arc it’s revealed that they’re from the Coronis and were acquainted with Sailor Lead Crow.

For the most part, Rei in the manga seems more boring than Rei in the 90s anime, but personally, I don’t think so. Reading the manga in middle school and seeing a female not *give*a*fuck* about marriage was awesome to me. She’s also kinder and she has far more respect for Usagi. She’s extremely popular at her school and has her own fan club. She carries herself with a certain dignity that reminds me of Michiru. She’s second in command after Venus. And let me end this by saying that Crystal gave Rei justice, and for that I am happy.

Seeing Kotono Mitsuishi was cool! She seems really nice! I went to two panels and got to ask two questions. I got my Sailor Moon DVD booklet signed and my friend Bethany was nice enough to get the Juri part of my Utena booklet signed! 

She said Sailor Moon’s transfomation and intro speech (twice)! Also Moon Healing Escalation, she did her Chibi Chibi voice too. She even did growling as Tae from Zombieland Saga!

AND she took a selfie with the audience, I’ll have to see if I can track it down.

Here’s some stuff she said:

-She was asked about working with a director as famously eccentric as Anno for Eva. She talked about him not eating meat (which I guess is considered more eccentric in Japan) and said he used to not wear socks and would be barefoot at work. But now he wears a suit and everything because he has a wife and can’t embarrass her.

-To follow up that, I asked what it was like to work with Ikuhara, who’s also famously eccentric. She said she doesn’t think he’s eccentric, surprisingly, but she does think he’s very handsome, so like. Ikuhara passing the Kotono Mitsuishi hotness test, yo. She said that though it would embarrass him for her to say this, but during Sailor Moon he was often depressed about not being popular with girls, but she feels this has changed now.

--I asked if she was close with and had any stories about the other voice actresses, and she said she’s close with Michie Tomizawa (Rei) and they still see each other. She said she and the other actresses from Crystal often go for Korean BBQ after work.

-She said the r movie was one of her favorite Sailor Moon things, and definitely her favorite Sailor Moon movie and told the dude doing the Crystal SuperS movie that, and he decided he had to do better (dream big I guess)

-Kotono says in Japan the manga is more poplar than the 90s anime, which is a bit surprising considering how shoddily and inconsistently Crystal’s been treated.

-She said she’s still filled with regret over missing D-point and those episodes were painful to watch because of that, though she watched them so she could understand where Usagi was at emotionally at the beginning of R. She mentioned that doing that cassette where she got to act out those scenes eased her regret. 

-She told the story of how when everyone died at D point, many Japanese school girls could not eat because they were so shocked and upset. She says it made the news!

-She seemed to have a hard time understanding the name pronunciation/name when asked if she had anything to say about Shiho Niiyama, the late voice actress for Seiya, but got extremely choked up and tearful when she realized who was being asked about, saying she misses her.

-She said when she was rehired for Crystal while the others were not, she said she was told she needed to carry on the “gene” of Sailor Moon to the next generation.

-Her fave character songs are “I am Sailor Moon” and “Moon Revenge”.

-Her favorite scene for Usagi is ep 124 when she tries to transform to help Saturn despite not being able to and her feelings get through.

More on her and Anno:

-She also said she first met Anno when he came to help out with Neptune’s henshin sequence.

-She said the part of the Eva opening with Misato holding her leg and sitting down is based off a time when she was very tired and sitting like that- Anno was inspired and put that in the opening. She was a little embarrassed that Anno saw her inner vulnerability so clearly.

-She joked that since she’s gotten older since the first time she played Misato, it made her very angry when Anno said she was being “too mature” and needed to be “more innocent” as Misato during the reboot movie

More tidbits:

She was EXTREMELY surprised how many voice actresses the original English dub had for Sailor Moon, and also was very shocked vas didn’t do their character’s songs as often in America. She said she only listened to the English dub once a long time ago when it first came out, and says as long as the actress has “the feeling” of Sailor Moon, that’s all that matters.

-When asked what she would say to anyone who wanted to grow up to be a  magical girl, she said ’if you believe you can become a magical girl.”

-She was asked if she felt Sailor Moon had done good things for “women/the image (?) of women” in Japan, and said she felt Sailor Moon sent a good message and was happy when she saw so many little girls playing Sailor Moon and rushing to get home to watch it.

-She said whenever she dubbed Meredith on Grey’s Anatomy (WHICH APPARENTLY SHE DOES THAT) she would mumble into her coffee cup to simulate a surgical mask, and she did put sticklike food in her mouth for that scene with Tae in Zombieland Saga.

My 2019 Blog Review

Today's the last day of 2019, so I thought it would be fun to dig through my archive and reflect on my blog activity over the past year. I am doing this on my phone but once I have access to a computer again, I'll put this all under a cut. I just can't do it on my phone.

Jan 2019

- Tumblr's background color changed and apparently I'm the only one who liked the change.

- Kingdom Hearts 3 release -- of course, this was a huge thing in my blog at the time. Afterall, I'd only been waiting 15 years for this game. And while I definitely had problems with the game, it also had some very memorable moments that I loved...like Sora punching Davey Jones (I never ever want to forget that moment).

- I began my adventure of learning Japanese. I'm doing pretty good so far.

- The Mummy (Brendon Fraser) appreciation. Occamshipper apparently doesn't like these movies but I love them. I met some great people because I told occamshipper that whereas they didn't like The Mummy Returns, it is in fact one of my favorite all time movies.

- Lots of rambling about my love for Lucy Heartfilia and the Nalu ship from Fairy Tail.

Feb 2019

- BoA Appreciation. I love K-Pop and BoA is one of my all time favs.

- The Vic Micnogna scandal. Honestly, I don't really care about what's going on with the trial, what bothers me is the stain that was left on Funimation because of it. The voice actors really alienated the fanbase in this scandal and I didn't like that.

- Power Rangers appreciation. I love Power Rangers and unironically, too. My favorite power ranger is Adam from Mighty Morphin.

- Within Temptation's new Resist Album dropped and I loved it. I love these epic stories they tell with their albums and the vibes they give.

- I watched the Mythica franchise and my appreciation affair for Zombie Girl began.

- Ronon/Keller appreciation. I loved this pairing so much and I'm super sad the show never did more with them.

- Legacies Reviews. Apparently people find me funny? I have a sense of humor that people enjoy?

- Emily Bett Rickards revealed she would not be on Arrow for its final season. I was really depressed a out that and I got a lot of hate from comic book fans for daring to say that I like the character of Felicity Smoak.

- Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles appreciation. One of my favorite anime/manga of all time.

- I was a victim of credit card fraud because of Creation Entertainment and then they tried to deny they were at fault despite hundreds of their customers reporting credit card fraud all at the same time. They eventually retracted their statement but because of this, I will probably never go to a Creation convention again. They're way overpriced and I certainly will not entrust my important info to them again.

Apr 2019

- Shadowhunters final season started airing and they went from irritating to just plain boring. Seriously, the season's biggest crime isn't how misogynist and racist it was, it was that it was completely nonsensical and boring for me.

- The release of Taylor Swift's and Brendon Urie's collab of ME! and I seem to be the only one that seems to legitimately love that song (even the "spelling is fun" part, RIP you beautiful lyric, alas, you were too good and pure to last in this hateful unfunny world of judgemental culture).

- The X Family appreciation. This is one of my favorite Taiwanese dramas and definitely my favorite series in the KO franchise.

- I broke up with the main SPN meta community (otherwise known as the Positive Police). We just didn't see eye-to-eye. I didn't appreciate them lording over the fandom telling people what they should and should not ship, telling people what they should and should not like...and they didn't appreciate me saying so. Lots of blocking went on and I'm still eternally sorry for the people that got blocked by these big fish because they simply liked my posts.

May 2019

- Game of Thrones crappy ending. What is there to really say about it? It was terrible and misogynist AF.

- Ezra appreciation from the Natural Oneders TFS at the Table D&D campaign. Ezra Lockwood was my favorite character and I'm not okay with how he was written out of the campaign.

- I was quite angry about Dean destroying Chuck's guitar like Dean was a 5-year-old child angry that he didn't get his way (seriously, Dean needs to be sent to time-out).

- Quicksilver and Dadneto meta commentary from FOX 's X-Men franchise. So much lost potential there, unfortunately (thanks, Dark Phoenix).

- Orca appreciation. They're beautiful, majestic creatures and I love them, they might be my spirit animal.

- Someone unfollowed me because I wasn't giving enough attention to real-world problems. Essentially, I wasn't woke enough I guess. But I'm sorry, if I want to feel all righteous and justicey, I'll watch the news. Social justice and politics are not primary focuses of this blog.

- Godzilla King of Monsters was fantastic.

- Chuck TV Series appreciation. I love this show and I miss it dearly.

- Veronica Mars Season 4 discourse. Essentially I hate what happened to Logan and what it means for Veronica's character moving forward.

- Played Love Island The Game and had way more fun than I probably rightfully should've had.

- Re-watched Sailor Moon and then watched Sailor Moon Crystal. Both shows are so much fun. Plus, I love Sailor Jupiter. I love Jupiter's personality and her power aesthetic is badass to match her personality.

- Taylor Swift's Lover album dropped. I might be in the minority but it actually ranks pretty low on my list of Taylor Swift albums.

- Skillet's Victorious album dropped a d ot was a huge disappointment for me.

- I found watermelon to be my new favorite post-workout snack.

Sep 2019

- I watched The Untamed and I absolutely adore this show. I started watching more chinese dramas because of this show. And whereas I haven't found something I enjoyed quite as much from the chinese drama list, I've still greatly enjoyed a lit of the shows...but they still have nothing on The Untamed. The Untamed is just so good.

- Lover Fest was announced. And it was real shady the dealings that were going on with this. It actually kind of made me wary of actually wanting to see Taylor live.

- I began the Korean drama, Extra-Ordinary You. I haven't finished it yet, but I plan to. I wanted to wait until the entire series was done airing. It does really interesting things with tropes and I greatly enjoy this show and can't wait to to return to it.

- Sherlolly appreciation. Rediscovered my love for the Sherlock/Molly ship from Sherlock.

-Leverage appreciation. Absolutely fantastic show. Highly recommend it.

- Kamen Rider Den-O appreciation. My favorite from the Kamen Rider franchise. I've been re-watching it and it's so much fun. Sato Takeru is amazing in it and the fact that this one of his first acting jobs and he's able to pull off doing so many different characters is seriously amazing.

- SPN finally brought us an angel/vessel dynamic in the form of Adam and Michael and it was amazing.

- The Jumanji re-make appreciation. I love it and The Next Level is just as good as its predecessor and I'm anxiously awaiting the next film in the franchise.

- My thoughts on why I'm single. Mainly because I'm lazy and I just don't feel like doing through all of the work involved in dating.

There you have it. That's 2019 for me. It had its ups and its downs but blog wise, I think I had a pretty good year.

So, Back in Red Action was on tv today, and I jotted down new things I noticed now that I’ve watched the whole thing multiple times (before I’d only rewatched Red’s origin and Red hitting on Enid).

- "You look like a girl who likes...thrills" and 'How 'bout we cruise through the danger zone' are joining "Either way, I'll be around", "Careful with the goods" and "I never left" as 'Red, the director is gonna get mad if you don't tone it down and keep getting Cartoon Network on his back’ lines. :P 

- The Hue troop don't just pose to introduce themselves and summon vehicles. They do it ALL. THE. TIME. No wonder Red is embarrassed to hang out with them. :P 

- The Hue Troop don't just talk normally until the end of the episode. They act like huge drama queens before that. SUCH. TEENAGERS. I love it. 

- First words out of Blue's mouth after the meteor are "Everyone alive?" I know this isn't particularly special since they were hit by a meteor, but it reminds me they routinely go on 'more dangerous than average' missions for teenagers/young adults on this show. 

- Green, to Enid: "Come visit (the future) sometime!" Yellow, also to Enid, later: OF COURSE YOU CAN'T COME TO THE FUTURE. TIMELINE. Green is just as bad as Red and I love it. :P 

- The Hue Troop definitely seems to think Red broke the crystal on purpose. They keep talking about her fleeing in terms of betrayal and Red being a traitor. Even if they had to arrest her for accidentally breaking it, I don't think they'd talk about it in quite those terms or have it be quite so personal. 

- Interesting note: There are clouds on fire in the danger zone, but not all of them. 

- I love how Red goes from business and professional when she thinks its monsters attacking them to whining 'Noooo, not these losers' when she sees its the Hue Troop. 

- Yellow is super personal about this: Adding 'betraying your friends' to the list of charges, asking if they're sure its her, calling her a traitor, etc. Definitely took her betrayal hard. She's also the one who immediately looks to Red when Enid is worried about her. 

- Red is partially based on Sailor Moon. Elodie is DEFINITELY partially inspired by Sailor Moon/Cardcaptor Sakura/etc. Enid has a type and that type is Magical Girl Inspired. 

- Red definitely sounds a little angry when she says she's supposed to take orders from a rock (alongside worried and panicked) before she loses it when she says she broke it. I think she doesn't HATE the Hue Troop, but I DO think she wanted more independence than she could get there (hence why she admires Enid 'not taking orders from anyone' (even though she does from Gar a lot of the time) and 'doing whatever she wants') 

- Red's face is adorable when she says it can't be the meteor from her story. 

- Yellow knows exactly what Red means when she says '201X' is pretty cool. Not subtle, Red. ;P She also stays back for a second to watch Red leaving. Might still be a little something there. 

- "I knew you didn't betray us" - Goddamn, Blue seems like she had more faith in Red than Yellow, at least post crystal breaking. And now you know what I do when I write commentary on episodes I watch. :P

- Yellow's voice kinda reminds me of Yellow Diamond and I DON'T KNOW WHY. They don't even sound alike!

Sailor Senshi x Shitennou Romantic Essay - Sailor Mercury and Zoisite

(Again a warning. Due to the way Tumblr works on the phone, this post is long and if you’re reading on a phone there is no read more button. Sorry in advance.) 

So after thinking about it for a while I figured it would be better to start off with the pairing I think is actually the most interesting because it seems to be the most quiet in terms of their personalities, that being Ami Mizuno and Zoisite.

This, oddly enough, is my favorite pairing, and it’s not your traditional romantic couple by a long shot. Ami has always been the quietest of the girls, and second only to Rei when it comes to not being able to deal with boys. Unlike Usagi, Minako and Makoto, Ami is the one of the group that seems less incline to be busy with a romance. This is not to say she’s against it, and it’s been clear in various versions of the show that she wouldn’t mind having a husband and getting married. But part of her goal is to become a doctor, so romance isn’t as strong an idea for her versus the other three, minus Rei.

On the other side of things you have Zoisite who a lot of people thinks would be flirty, however, there’s enough in the materials collection and the recent series, as well as the manga, to have me thinking that flirting is low on his spectrum of interests. That’s not to say that he can’t or won’t flirt, it’s just that it would be very different. We don’t get a lot of Zoisite outside of his brainwashed state, but when we do it’s interesting. He’s very quiet, staying close to Kunzite, and is the second one to get angry when they reveal what’s going on with them. When it comes to seeing Mamoru as the Prince later, he clearly shows that he’s able to smile, though softer than the other three. On top of this when it comes to personality, according to the Materials media, is the youngest and is treated as Kunzite’s younger brother. So this would play a lot on the idea of him as being both the cutie of the group, as well as the brat.

Which brings us to the first point: Characteristics and personalities of the two.

Ami:

When it comes to personality Ami is sweet but never really made friends that easily. Straight up in the episode we first meet her we hear kids commenting on her “weirdness” for being very smart and preferring to read books and study over other things. Because of the fact that she has a bit of a quieter withdrawn sort of nature to herself, she’s often times seen as arrogant and aloof and it took Usagi approaching her with Luna to give others the impression that she’s friendly if quiet. Her intellect is through the roof, and she’s seen as the smartest in her group, with people thinking that she had an IQ of 300.

Naturally her calm nature makes her the most level headed of the five, and it drives her love of math and science, propelling her to want to be a doctor like her mother. Among the group she’s the group of reason, and was able to actually get the older outer senshi to not kill Hotaru with her reasoned explanation of why it would be bad to do so. Ami, because of her smarts, also is the planer of the group, and analyzes situations, items, etc. for them as she has a knack for it, and doesn’t mind. This leads her into trouble, as with the disk incident with Zoisite in Crystal.

It’s her kindness that shines the brightest, as she’s a gentle person who doesn’t like to quarrel with others and abhors the harming of those that are innocent. Her loyalty is unmatched when it comes to Sailor Moon and she would sacrifice herself to save the others if necessary. If she does have, a flaw that the others can point to easily, it’s that she needs to “loosen Up” more. Emotionally though there’s a reason why she pushes herself so much. Her relationship with her mother, the person she looks up to and respects the most, is distant. Her parents at some earlier point in her life divorced, and her Father –a painter –has not seen his daughter in a long while, sending only birthday cards with well wishes every year. Her mother is always busy, making it harder for Ami to grow close to her mother at all.

One thing of note about Ami is that, while she’s very busy with studying and her job as a scout, she’s also an excellent swimmer –which probably has an attachment to the water element in her, and she also excels at playing Chess, as well as listening to music.

As for Zoisite:

When it comes to personality Zoisite is a kind person but comes off as a bit aloof and cold. This isn’t to say that he’s not a good person, but rather, unlike the others less likely to make a shallow friendship with someone. That comes down to a few things I believe. For starters he’s seen as effeminate, probably an overly refined person who can come off as someone extremely polite and courteous to others. He has a lot of delicate features and looks and probably comes off with a quiet thinking softness to him that makes a lot of people underestimate him.

We know that he’s curious by nature, as the first time we meet him he’s pondering what the crystal really is, and given what we saw later with him, we know he’s the sort to think things through before enacting a plan, until he’s frustrated to the point where he just reacts and makes large mistakes in the process. Zoisite is the most level headed of the Shintennou and also probably the most sensitive of the group. When, in the manga, both of his friends died, Zoisite became emotional to the point of seeking revenge upon Rei herself for the death of Jadeite, and later on Sailor Moon for the death of Nephrite. He’s a deeply caring person who probably doesn’t outwardly show it a lot to other people.

We know that he tends to act mature, but also is very immature too. Being the youngest member of the team he’s more then likely treated as the charming one and one that a lot of people want to protect. Zoisite more then likely uses that to his advantage, being charming and then manipulating the situation to best serve what he needs it too. I also get the impression that he dislikes being underestimated, and looked down upon, and probably has some deep seeded issues with his physical appearance. Due to this he tends to come off as a smart ass, even if he is the most intelligent of the group and probably uses his words to wound people more than using his sword. He hides a lot from others but when he does show his affection, it’s very strong.

When it comes to loyalty, he’s probably only matched by Kuznite, who is seen as an elder brother figure for him and probably one he emulates in how he comes off. No doubt that to the Prince he was probably the one that was the most willing to give his life directly due to the fact that Endymion possibly saw past his appearance to the strong, kind, and pure person that Zoisite was under all his coolness. It’s also clear that Zoisite is very clever and willing to be underhanded when it comes to getting a job done, and would rather end things quickly then prolong a fight just to be seen as noble or something like that. The faster something is done, the quicker things can be healed and mended.

He also is someone that adapts to things very quickly and doesn’t like to lose, he more than likely enjoys trying to one up someone in wits and possibly in who is smarter at times. He also get’s frustrated and distant when angry until he’s annoyed to the point where he emotionally reacts to something like a kid would and then becomes embarrassed by it.

For Zoisite, reading and probably learning about things would be a hobby of sorts, and possibly creating tech for the team would be another.

So connections between them….

As far as Mercury and Zoisite of the past there does seem to be hints of how these two would work as a couple in the Silver Millennium.

We know that both are extremely loyal to their leaders, that being the Princess and the Prince, and no doubt both would find a common ground in that idea. They are also intellectuals that seem to prefer dealing damage at a distance, and also are underestimated due to both their physical appearance and their natural quiet nature.

I have no doubt that like Mercury, Zoisite probably was seen as the most introverted of the group. The weak link in the chain due mostly to his physical appearance. He can easily be seen as a woman, and possibly, because of his refine polite skills, he was talked about as the lesser of the Knights. Throw in that he also probably was seen as short and young and given the more aggressive personality of Nephrite, may have felt that he had to be cool and aloof in order for people to stop treating him as a child, and may have enventually learned to use that to his advantage.

That same feeling of being seen as the weaker one probably created a strong understanding between them, and probably lead to them becoming friendly with one another. Yet another aspect is the fact that both Mercury and Zoisite seem to share a kindness to them that quiet and unlike the others, this has to be drawn out by more extroverted people.

Zoisite’s head shots tell a lot of his story, and given that he doesn’t strike me as someone that easily could let himself fall in love, it’s not very hard to see that when he fell for Mercury it was probably very hard and he didn’t realize it until he did and then it was a lock on him. From the way he holds her in the picture to the look that he gives her in the fight, it’s clear that, at least from his end, he’s a bit more possessive of her. Not that he wouldn’t give her space and become a stalker like figure, more that he would want to be by her side and keep her shielded from attacks and harm.

Another thing that I think both would probably have made a connection on was the fact that both seem to be the planners for the group and the smart one on the team. This could lead to them discussing things with each other that would have the others completely lost on for whatever reason. I also have the odd idea, in the back of my mind, given that Zoisite is a technopath and seems to have a lot of skill with different forms of technology, it wouldn’t surprise me at all to think that either he made the goggles and the head set for Mercury to use. Or helped her in developing them at some point in time to give the girls an advantage in finding the princess when she went missing or other issues that came about.

As for Ami and Zoisite, there’s a lot more to go with there when (not if) the Shitennou come back.

We know that Ami is a kind hearted person who’s intelligence can bring out the best in other people. Her nature of caring and finding out the truth to things and being willing to put herself on the line would be someone that Zoisite would find very interesting and also someone that he would want to challenge in the friendly sense to see who’s smarter.

The two both have issues with making friends or finding companionship and knowing Ami, seeing how Usagi helped pull her out of her shell, she would want to extend the same thing for Zoisite. It would give him a moment of someone actually wanting to see past his looks and realize that he’s actually a lot stronger than he first appears. I could also see her realizing before the others that the aloofness is more of an act and not part of his real personality, more that it’s a cover to hide a sensitive side that he worries others will exploit.

The two would probably be a match on the study side of things, and, seeing how Zosite would be 16 to 17 years old, he’d probably be one of Ami’s rivals when it came to testing scores. Not only that, but again, pointing to his use of technology for his plans, one can then speculate that probably Zoisite would have an interest in the sciences. Given that he’s the Knight of Healing, it’s not that huge a leap of logic to assume that he, like Ami, may want to go into the medical field, or possibly something where he could use his logic and insight to excel at helping others. Both are the voice of reason for logic, and Zoisite would more or less be able to help her find information that could allow her to gain a better understanding of her own personal ideas.

Throw in there that Zoisite more or less would be the one that would have the skills to be a charmer, and it’s not hard to see him using that on her to get her to step away from the studying, even if he himself may understand why she is pushing herself so hard, and to have some fun. He’d also be able help her find some way of getting a better connection to both her parents, as healing doesn’t just refer to a physical condition, it could be a mental or emotional one as well.

Zoisite would be impressed with her use of words to deal with a situation. Even if he’s not the peacekeeper of the group, he’s probably the one that is able to use his words to get people to do what he wants. So seeing her use them to defuse a situation, or get others to back up from a fight would be something that he would find heavily attractive in a person, I would think. I also feel that their loyalty again would be the start of common ground as she’s friends with Mamoru and he would see the compassion and trust that she has in the young Prince, something that he sees in him too.

One thing I think for sure that could unite them is their love of books, and Zoisite would more than likely enjoy playing chess with her. I have no doubt that he’d be in the stands cheering for her on the swim team and they probably would both enjoy sitting around listening to music.

I’m also going to throw in there that Zosite is probably the sort of person who, when he sees someone he loves across the room being asked out by someone else, he’d probably send that person running with a glare. Then act as if the person had some weird reason to leave.

So what does Ami see in Zoisite?

Ami would see the compassion and deep kindness behind the aloof exterior. She would easily see someone that she could talk to about family issues and a person that could understand those things. She would be attracted by his more refined nature and probably by his intellect. A battle of wits could be part of it, along with enjoying the fact that Zoisite is someone who would be flattered or embarrassed by her way of nonphysical flirting.

Ami’s the type of person who would also feel for him, being an only child, and also understand how it feels to be seen as the weak link in the group. She would try to help him overcome his own issues of doubt in himself that he probably tends to cover up and work with him to find a way to show his strength in a more positive light. She’d also be the one, along with Usagi, to pull him out of his shell and get him to loosen up more and be more willing to have fun.

Given the smile on her face in the main picture I have no doubt that she feels happy when she’s with him and his warmth comes through for her. Zosite’s charming nature and general politeness would also win her over and she might find him a bit on the dangerous side given his ability to manipulate others to do what he wants. At the same time, she’d also respect that he mostly does that for the sake of making thing end quickly so that peace can come back to them.

Romantically speaking she would be drawn to him based on his intelligence and quiet nature, and she’d stay around for his kindness and actual willingness to understand others and way of trying to help others heal or fix what’s the matter with them to the best of his ability.

So what does Zosite see in Ami?

Other than her soft beauty he’d be taken in by her kindness and warm nature. He’d also become quickly attracted to how strong she is, even though her attacks can be seen as weak. He’d also be interested in her intelligence, and how smart she actually is, and find her shy nature very much a cute aspect of her, even if he doesn’t say it that much.

For him, love would be something that again, he would not see coming and when it hit him, he wouldn’t let her go, not for an instant. He’d find in her someone that he could talk about not only things that interested him, but also someone who didn’t judge him for his looks and appearance. The fact that others saw her as aloof would be something that would surprise him and also make him protective of her against other words of harm that could be bestowed upon her. He’d probably want to help her deal with her parents in some way, and listen to her when she was upset over things.

Zoisite would see her as a friendly rival, always trying in some way to challenge her perception of things and make her think outside the box, and come up with new plans to deal with things. He’d teach her to think on her feet and be able to observe and realize what’s going on and to multitask in a situation. Also I have a feeling he’d work with her to find a  way to pair up their powers to make them a hard duo to beat on the field. (Snow and Crystal shard attack?)

He’d also fall for her due to her view of quarrels and the harming of the innocent, something I think he agrees with as the Knight of healing. I can also see him trying to teach her how to use her quietness to become more observant and also how to use her calmness to get others to listen to what she has to say for a larger group of people.

On top of all that her determination to become a doctor, and her desire to help the scouts, even when things are harder for her, would make him want to be with her even more. I also think that her loyalty would be something that he would see as a start to common ground for them.

Romantically speaking he would be drawn to her quiet nature, but also her kindness and beauty. He’d see someone he would want to protect but also someone who was an equal match on the intelligence and cleaver factor. He’d stay around because of her honesty and determination, as well as the fact that he could tease her and she wouldn’t judge him harshly for his actions, choices, or the fact that he can be a bit of a smart ass and a flirt around her.

So how would these two have met in the past and how would they meet in the present.

For the past, I assumed that the girls probably split up to find the princess. Knowing Mercury she possibly went to search for the princess where she would think Serenity would likely go to, such as a meadow or somewhere where she could feel the open air and the like. More than likely, while she was searching, she came upon Zoisite reading or observing something, or vice versa. Zoisite is not one to beat around the bush about situations, so he probably came up to her, and politely, but seriously, asked her who she was and what she was doing on earth.

Mercury most likely introduced herself to him, and he did so to her, and told her that the moon people weren’t supposed to be there. I’m pretty sure the two had a short chat over what her reason for being there was, and he agreed to escort her around to find the princess, and probably explained that they were having similar issues with the prince and that once they found them, she and the princess could leave.

However the two, wind up finding more in common during this early time and become friendly with one another, eventually prompting Mercury to agree with the Princess about going back down again, and meeting with the Knights to become friends and learn more about the world that they’re protecting from above. This would lead Mercury to ask Zoisite about what he could tell her about earth and he’d probably bring her books upon books to study about the planet, it’s history and it’s people. During this time, the two would fall for one another, and Zoisite probably came up with the idea of meeting the girls under the tree as a means of being the spot where the four could come together.

 As for the present, my guess would be that Zoisite, as with the other knights, would have been in Japan for whatever reason. Given his looks, I would think that he may be half-European half Japanese and more than likely the prince of his school, or possibly bullied for his looks. Given he’s a year younger or the same age as Mamoru he would probably have the same sort of schedule as Ami heading to school. No doubt, the two probably would be rivals for the top spot in testing, and he probably sees her as a challenge.

If anything, I think the two would more than likely meet at first as rivals, with Zoisite informing her that he’ll take her top spot, and this leads to a friendly competition between them. If anything, he would probably and eventually, like the girls, regain his memories when he met Mamoru and because of his kindness and seeing the kind hearted person inside whomever Zoisite was. Of course, he would be helping his Prince with whatever issues that he may have and end up assisting the girls as they dealt with enemies.

During this time, he and Ami would probably forge a friendship more than a romance as he would point out that they are not the same people that they were in the past and that they need to come to terms with who they are now and not who they were then. Eventually, however, Zoisite would probably be the first to realize his feelings for her and, with the blessing of his Prince, decide to move on it. Again, both are shier introverted individuals, so they wouldn’t have a huge passionate confession or anything like that. Being the nerds they are, it would probably be a slow burning but strong dating thing, taking things one-step at a time till finally they could actually come to a mutual agreement that they were in love with one another and proceed from there.

As for their future? Not really sure on that one. Zoisite strikes me as someone who could potentially do all sorts of things for a living. I could see him going into medicine, but also someone who could easily peruse the arts in a more logical kind of way. It’s hard to point out what he would do, Ami on the other hand we know would become a doctor like her father, and Zoisite would support her as she strove to do that as she would support him in whatever his endeavor would be.

Whatever the case may be for the two on a professional level, I feel like romantically they would be the most likely to have the the deepest connection in regard to a mental thing going on. Probably not very showy when it comes to public displays of affection, but more then likely very affectionate and sweet when alone and in public small things go a long way for them. No doubt they would be the pairing that would make each other smile the most on inside jokes that the others didn’t get. 

So the next one up would be Makoto and Nephrite. Hoping to get on that next week.

“No Please don’t do this,” Usagi heard herself cry out as she was being dragged backwards by her arms. She kicked and screamed, tears running down her face as she strained against the binding that had been tied to her wrists, keeping her arms behind her. “Please! You must listen to me! I didn’t mean to…”

But the men holding her arms were not paying her any mind. Her blue eyes darted between them rapidly. They were dressed from head to toe in armor, clearly made from some of the finest metal she had ever seen. Their cloaks were embellished with gold designs that looped and curved into the shape of flowers and flowing patterns. Even as she struggled, she could make out a crest on the backs of the capes, denoting some sort of noble house. Which one, she couldn’t tell.

“You won’t get away with this! This isn’t right! Where are you taking me?”

The men (she assumed they were men based on the size of their form) – though she could not see their faces and everything around her seemed blurred and hazy – dragged her along not answering and staying silent. The young high school student glanced around again, trying to understand what was happening. She looked down and saw she was in a purple dress, elegant and refined like a princess, but torn and dirty from mud and dust, just like the gold, jewel-encrusted slippers she had on her feet.

All around the sounds of nature called out to her. Birds were chirping; she could hear the wind rustle in the trees as they passed under a canopy of them, and, whose shadow, gave her a short respite from the bright sun that was beating down on her. The men, or knights as she was guessing now, kept a steady pace with her, and she had, by this point, given up fighting them. Nearby she heard the splashing of water, and could smell the scent of fresh wet grass. Everything screamed summer, yet she knew that it was late May, and the June storms would be coming soon.

“This doesn’t make any sense! I want to go home!” she cried out, but the knights paid her no mind and continued their trek with her. The young girl soon gave up the fight and went limp. Where were her friends? Had they left her? Did they just run off when the guards came?

Her thoughts hesitated upon the last, and she lifted her head muttering to herself, “No that’s not right…why would there be guards in Tokyo? Where am I?”

She tried again to talk to the guards, but their silent nature made her unsure if speaking up would be wise. So she stayed quiet. Maybe if I don’t talk, maybe I can learn something? There’s got to be a way out of this…

Again she looked back at her captors and saw both were carrying swords, but they were too far to reach. Usagi made a face, Even if I did get one, I don’t know how to use it. What am I gonna do?

She tried to wiggle out of the rope, but her wrists were sore and burned with pain every time she tried to move them. She still didn’t understand any of it and closed her eyes, hoping that she would wake up. Was this a dream? Or was she really there? No she was sure she had fallen to sleep, that much she knew because she’d talked to Ami before bed about the fact that they were going to get a new teaching assistant for their history class.

So, where was she? Or rather, why was she dreaming this?

The poor girl didn’t have much time to consider her thoughts, as the knights suddenly slowed their pace and then stopped.

“We’re here.” The one on her left said, while the one on the right added.

“You should take a moment to look around. This will be the last time you see this place.”

“What are you talking about?” Usagi asked, terrified. This was the first time these two sentinels had spoken to her, and she didn’t appreciate the tone that they were taking. It was angry, full of controlled rage, and she knew that they hated her guts. But what had she done to deserve such feelings thrown at her?

“Your punishment.”

“Punishment? For what? What did I do?”

The first chose to keep his head straight forward, rather than look behind at her to speak to her. The second did, though ever so slightly, but it was just enough that she could only make out his chin. “Don’t act a fool? You know exactly what you did! You monster!”

“M-M-Monster? I’m not…” She felt tears sting her eyes, but she didn’t understand why.

“Quite!” the first one ordered, “We’re moving now.” He tugged her and the second followed suit as she shifted to try to glimpse behind her to see where ‘here’ was. What greeted her was something that made her blood run cold. Ahead was a large cave, which seemed to go down into the earth. It was pitch black, and not a speck of light was coming out.

Surrounding the cave was a crowd of other men and women dressed in finery, including knights in their uniforms, with their weapons at their sides. Most of the crowd seemed upset and sad, some had their arms crossed, and others turned their backs on her. Usagi didn’t recognize anyone, yet as they neared the crowd parted and she could see at the very edge of the crowd a group of five young men, four that she recognized from their clothing the moment she saw them.

“It can’t be,” she mouthed confused. Standing in the center was Kunzite, dressed in the uniform that she’d seen in her past memories, his silver hair whipped up in the breeze. She couldn’t see his features due to the haze around them, but his head was turned in a way to not meet her gaze, as if he was to repulsed by her sight. Beside him was Zoisite, who’s scowl she could feel even if she couldn’t see it. That coldness felt like it could last for years, there was no mercy radiating from his still form and Usagi turned her eyes away from him as quickly as she could.

Once more, a sinking sense of cold and dread washed over her and she turned to glance to the right of Kunzite, only to see Nephrite, glaring at her with arms crossed. He raised his head some to look down upon her as they neared –yet again she couldn’t make out his features but she knew it was him. The intensity from his emotions were enough to have her move back against the guard on her right, who stumbled slightly and then righted himself. That gave her a chance to get a view of the last one of the knights standing there, and the only that seemed to show any compassion, Jadeite.  His stance showed him to be slumped at the shoulders, and turned away, as if he was crying or hurt by what was going on. Behind them, she could make out another man but he was too far for her to get a good look at, and it made her wonder who the stranger was.

The knights stopped, and then let her go. Usagi glanced around, confused then slowly turned to face the group of four. She lowered her head as their gazes fell upon her. For a moment, she felt the tears coming on, but tried to hold them in shaking her head. She needed to know what was going on, and so raised it to speak to them.

“I…” she tried again but Kunzite’s loud and direct voice over road her nerve.

“Be silent.” Usagi shut her mouth quickly as he continued. “You will not speak until spoken to, do you understand?”

She nodded and he returned it. “You have been brought here for your crimes against the Kingdom of Elysion. I am asking you, please, tell me why you did this….”

Usagi felt her mind waver. Elysion was a name she had become familiar with only recently. It had been the capital city of the Golden Kingdom and where Prince Endymion ruled Earth from, where the Golden Crystal was at, and where she –no Serenity –where Serenity had met and fallen in love with him. Why would she ever commit any crimes against such a wonderful place? This wasn’t making any sense.

I need to tell them they have it wrong. I need to tell them that this is all a dream. Wake up Usagi! She shouted in her mind to herself. As her mouth opened to speak, she felt words and thoughts that didn’t feel like her own, but they were coming out in her own voice.

“I did what I had to. You don’t understand! I need to protect him…I need to keep him safe. Please! Please let me see him, let me talk to Prince Endymion! You know I’m right! Something terrible will happen to us if I don’t talk to him and stop it! Please let me see him!”

“Let you see him? I think not,” Zoisite spoke up then and she glanced over at him. She could still not see his face. “Doing so would allow you to harm him more than you already have done, and we are not that gullible or stupid. Your false tears will not sway our hearts…”

“Zoisite, enough,” Nephrite said directly to the younger blonde who seemed to look his way. “It’s clear she’s already in pain as it is. No need to rub it in.” His hazy form turned then to Usagi who tried to follow the conversation, but her head was starting to hurt. Was she waking up, or was this something that was happening for someone else? Was this someone else memory? She couldn’t tell.

“My Lady, please. We know you believe your story to be true. But this is serious business. You’re actions…they…” he paused as if trying to catch his own words and cleared his throat, then continued. “They brought us all pain and anguish, particularly Master Endymion. Please, confess, and we can help you….”

“How can I confess for something that wasn’t wrong?!” Usagi, felt the tears flow again. This was all wrong. Something was wrong, something bad was happening. Why wouldn’t they listen to her.

“Traitor,” hissed Zoisite and Kunzite seemed to shoot him a look that silenced him once more.

“Traitor, I…I’m not…” She looked up and saw Jadite coming over. She still couldn’t see his face but she could feel his touch on her shoulder. His grip was firm, but there was a calmness to it and she felt herself starting to feel tired.

“We know you believe you are not, but we need the truth. Please, why did you do it…You can save them and yourself if you just tell the truth.”

“But I’m not lying,” she said weakly. “I’m not…”

Usagi slumped to her knees and bent her head forward as he followed her down to the ground, and laying her gently there, before letting go. Jadeite stood up and shook his head, then walked back to join the other five.

They stood whispering to one another for what seemed like several moments as the crowd behind her was vocalizing things she couldn’t hear, even though she tried.

I don’t understand any of this. Why won’t they let me see Endymion. Mamo-chan, where are you. Please come and help me. I can’t do this alone…I can’t. She lowered her head, and bit her lip. She didn’t want them to see her sobbing. A moment later the four Knights seemed to reach some sort of silent agreement, and then Kunzite nodded to someone behind them.

Facing her again, he walked over and looked down at her. “It has been decided. For your crimes against Elysion you are here by sentenced to imprisonment.”

Usagi nearly leapt to her feet, shouting, “You can’t! I need to speak to him! Please it’s urgent! He’ll believe me! He’ll listen and understand! I know he will. You can’t do this! Please, Kunzite! Please!”

Kunzite backed up from her and the man that had been behind them walked forward. He looked younger than Kunzite, about her own age, had a slightly purple shade to his white blonde hair, and was dressed in a lavender robe. In one hand, he was carrying a metal staff, in the other a wooden bowl. The robed young man bent down to her, even up close Usagi couldn’t see any features on him, and then whispered.

“I’m sorry. I am so sorry. I can’t save you…you need to save yourself. Come back to us, I know you can do it.” He then moved back from her and, after tapping the staff to the bowl thrice, laid the staff down and then dipped his fingers into the bowl, coating them in red liquid that, to Usagi, smelled like a berry smoothie. He moved quickly, taking his fingertips and marking her forehead, then stood.

Kunzite approached him, “Well?”

The robed man sighed as he took up his staff and looked down, “It is done.”

Kunzite nodded and then motioned to the guards that had first brought her to the strange location. They pulled Usagi up to her feet and she didn’t resist.

“I pray that your spirit may find a way to redeem itself,” the robed figure said as the guards began to walk her away from the gathered group. Again she didn’t feel like resisting, but something in her gut told her not to let herself go, and Usagi whirled around to face the four knights and the robed man.

“This isn’t right! No please, Brother! Stop them!” Usagi found herself calling out to the stranger with the staff, but he turned away from her.

“Not you too! Please…Stop this! I don’t deserve this! Please…” and she dug her heels into the ground, trying to stop the forward momentum from the guards, who were now pulling her to move. Usagi twisted and turned, trying desperately to break free of their grasp.

“You know I’m right! Please…for his sake please… Don’t do this! Kunzite! Please, I’m begging you!”

Kunzite turned his back to her and the others watched in silence. Usagi felt a cool breeze run up her back and twisted to see they were headed right for the mouth of the cave. Her eyes went wide and she screamed at them.

“No! Please No! Stop this! No! I didn’t do anything wrong! I was trying to protect him! Please, I love him! Please…don’t do this to me! Please! No…”

Suddenly she felt herself falling and cried out as the darkness swallowed her and she lost sight of the others.

“Endimyon!”

She screamed loudly as she fell, hearing a voice in the darkness calling to her.

“Usagi! Usagi, please! Get up! Usagi! Usagi! WAKE UP!”

Pain shot through her face as she felt her skin get slashed by sharp claws and she yelped as she woke with a loud thud, hitting her head squarely on the floor, “Ow! Owie! Ow!”

Usagi found herself back in her room, half way out of her bed, head on the floor, blankets twisted around her arms and legs. She was in a cold sweat and slowly pulled the rest of her trembling form onto the floor, wrapping the blankets around her and shuddered, whispering to herself, “What a horrible dream. Just what was that about?”

kay so for those of you who don’t know, my M.O. is to take things that have skeletal or shallow lore and over complicate the whole damn thing especially with specific mythos, creation stories, and deity pantheons, so Tokyo Mew Mew is no different; under the cut commences my long and convoluted bits of lore that I have headcanoned and fanoned the shit out of for this series

Ryou says at one point that he thinks it was “no accident” that Ichigo and the girls were the ones who became Earth’s defenders, after Masaya turns out to be Deep Blue.  So time to extrapolate the fuck out of that.

All of the Mew Mews are very heavily coded, both in the anime and manga, to correspond to one of the four natural elements.  Mint is Air, Lettuce is Water, Pudding is Earth, and Zakuro is Fire.  In the manga especially, even, each of them uses the Mew Aqua to cleanse their specific element (Mint cleans the air from the Chimera Moth, Lettuce cleans the ocean, Pudding saves Tokyo Dome from collapsing due to instability in the earth, and Zakuro destroys the dome that causes an intense heat wave in Tokyo).

Then there’s Ichigo.  Ichigo doesn’t correspond to one of the natural elements, but she does correspond to a somewhat common trope in five-person-elemental-teams: in other words, Heart (Captain Planet is that you?).  This is furthered by the fact that in the manga, when she uses the Mew Aqua, it’s to save Masaya’s life, the person she loves.  I would actually almost hazard to say that she’s meant to represent the whole of the planet itself, or even life itself, as her use of Mew Aqua in the manga also restores plant life to the earth, and restores life to others (the Mews, Masaya, and the aliens).  In other words, Ichigo is the Sailor Earth.  (How’s that for a Sailor Moon plot twist?)

Now what the fuck does any of this have to do with anything in this post about made-up lore?  Well, I’m getting to that.  Let’s put together a few more concepts first.

First: Mew Aqua.  It’s both a liquid and a crystal, said to have been created by the aliens, the previous inhabitants of earth, but for an unknown purpose (I haven’t yet finished my rewatch of the series, but to the best of my knowledge, they never fully address why it was made).  It’s an incredible force that can cleanse the pollution of the earth and restore it to its natural state, influence strange phenomenon like the sudden overnight sprouting of an entire forest in the middle of a city, and even restore life.  That is a pretty INTENSE thing that these aliens made....and if they’re the ones who made it, and the aliens want it so that they can use it to restore Earth to what they want, why didn’t the aliens fleeing the original destruction of Earth just...use Mew Aqua?

The final concept I want to bring up before I move onto my actual lore is where Masaya/Blue Knight/Deep Blue fits into all of this.  Masaya is effectively a member of Tokyo Mew Mew, as a complement to Ichigo.  They’re not just a good couple, they’re a battle couple too: their attacks work together and Masaya is automatically tuned in to whenever Ichigo needs help.  But we’ve already got a blue member of the team (Mint) so why the heck did they decide to color code Masaya and Deep Blue as well, blue?  There were other colors available, like red or black, that might have even looked more aesthetically pleasing overall.  It’s also important to mention that Kish, Pai, and Taruto refer to Deep Blue as a “god.”

So where the fuck am I going with this?  Let’s start with this: I don’t think Deep Blue is the only god in this series.  Warning: as we go ahead, I will stop referring to this as headcanon and start talking about it like it’s a legit theory.  It is not.  I just don’t want to keep saying “this is what I think” over and over again.

Deep Blue as a god, first.  So, back to the question.  Why is Deep Blue, well, Blue?  Because Deep Blue is the sky.

Where Ichigo represents the earth as a whole, the planet itself, the terrestrial body, Deep Blue/Masaya is the complementary opposite: the sky and the atmosphere that surrounds the planet.  The Mews then each represent a major part of the make-up of the planet in a more specific, lesser form: once again, Earth, Wind, Water, and Fire (take a drink if the song got stuck in your head).

It makes sense again when you look at Kish, Pai, Taruto, and their people.  They specifically worship Deep Blue as a god, and if Deep Blue is the god of the sky, then their abilities are in keeping with this.  They can fly, they don’t require oxygen to breathe and seem perfectly all right with varying pressure, allowing them to live quite comfortably in any part of the atmosphere, and they can teleport, moving between the air from place to place.  All things that make sense for a people who are beholden to a god of the sky.

This is where my “”creation story”” comes in.  Deep Blue is the sky, and Ichigo represents the Earth.  Deep Blue is a god who lay partially dormant inside a human until he could be awakened.  Masaya is human, but contains the remains of an ancient god of the sky.  If Ryou is correct in that there was no mistake that it was Ichigo, the one who loved Masaya, who became a Mew Mew to face him, then why couldn’t Ichigo be the same way?  Why couldn’t Ichigo just so happen to be the reincarnation/vessel of the remains of the god of the Earth?

So I suppose this is where the story starts.  A very long time ago, when Kish’s people still lived on the earth, there were gods that lived among them.  The most revered were the Mother Earth who granted them life, and the Father Sky who enfolded them.  Also worshiped were the ephemeral and alien forces of Water, Earth, Fire, and Air, which had no shape or form but rather took the visage of the creatures that best represented them, and flickered from form to form when it suited them.  Father Sky was known as Deep Blue, and Mother Earth was known as μ (Myu/Mew).  It was said by their people that Deep Blue and Mew were in love.

By some strange, unknown catastrophe, perhaps by a mismanaging of Mew’s bounty or some unforeseeable disaster, or perhaps by some strange quarrel between Mew and Deep Blue, the planet underwent a series of natural disasters, making it nearly impossible to live on.  It’s not certain what caused the rift between Mew and Deep Blue, or if in fact there was a rift at all, but something violently drove them apart.  The peoples of the planet made reluctant plans to flee for a new home.  The strain of their people leaving them behind was too great for the gods who depended on their people’s belief.  Deep Blue went with them, but he was shorn in two, as the atmosphere could not fully leave the planet behind.  Half of him went with the fleeing peoples, dormant and dying, and ensuring that no planet they found could ever be a happy home enfolded by a forgiving atmosphere.  The other half fell back down to the earth, and was hidden among the souls of the creatures that still clung to life on its surface.

Mew, as the Earth itself, could quite obviously not be taken away with the fleeing people, no more than a planet could move out of orbit.  But the loss of Deep Blue was so terrible, so painful, that she could only cry.  And from her tears, which scattered across the whole of her, came the liquified crystals that would later be known as Mew Aqua.

As time passed, the earth settled once again, and creatures began to flourish.  Humans evolved, and among them, the lasting spirit of Deep Blue began to slowly reawakened.  After many thousands of years, when humans matured, the sleeping Mew sensed the approach of her love: the aliens were once again reaching out back towards the jewel they had left, and Deep Blue’s awakening self turned his eyes back towards home as well.  But the thousands of years of sleep, and the ragged tear that had split him had caused Deep Blue to become angry and resentful.  He no longer cared for either his people or Mew, but rather wanted to destroy that which he had been unable to keep.

Mew could sense his malice, and out of love for the creatures that were born on her soil, she did what Deep Blue’s spirit did.  She consigned what remained of her faded self to the souls of humanity.  Some years later, the new host of Deep Blue’s soul would be born.  Near the same time, a girl with the soul of Mew would also arise.  The souls of Earth, Wind, Water, and Fire were not human enough to be passed into a human soul, but they could give their blessing, and so they, too, blessed several humans with their hopes.

When Deep Blue and his people returned to the Earth, there were warriors waiting to meet him, to protect the planet from his yet hidden, murderous rage.  Deep Blue did not remember everything, but he did know with a fiery instinct that these warriors were specifically his bane -- which is why he focused all his efforts on just them, on just their city, on just collecting the Mew Aqua, the tears of the one he had once loved, to facilitate his awakening.

Sonic/Equestria Girls Au Information and Lore

It's finally time to show you all something that I've had in my head for years and I promised myself that this year I would introduce it, AND TODAY IS THAT DAY. This crossover isn't like any other story where "sonic and his friends travel to the world of equestria girls because eggman messed up the timeline or mephiles miraculously came back and sent them there on a magic portal thingie for revenge" Nope, this is vastly different. Before I begin, I'd like to clarify that this takes place in a hybrid universe where the IDW/archie comics/games take place. I love the archie characters too much to NOT let them be a part of it. Basically, it's the IDW/game verse but with archie characters in them, along with a few events that happened and some cities that are in the old comics (i.e Knothole, Meropis etc.). Another note is that some of my ocs, and their species, are in this au as well! The species is called Novians.

Here's a list of the Archie characters: Sally Acorn and her family (Elias, Max etc.) Uncle Chuck (I'm a bit unsure if I want to add Sonic's parents since I'm still figuring things out) Scourge the hedgehog Fiona Fox The Freedom Fighters (Bunnie, Nicole, Antoine etc.) Mina Mongoose Shard the Metal Sonic Razor The Shark Coral the Betta Pearly the Manta Ray Honey the Cat Nack and his gang Hope Kintobor Rob O' the Hedge Some of the Echidna clan (which is honestly a huge maybe because I want Knuckles to have at least SOME of his people alive) Snively Robotnik (Also a huge maybe) ..and that's it so far! I'll update the list if I forgot a character. Some of the character's backstories are a mix of what Archie had and what the post-genesis wave had for them. For example, during the war with Eggman, King Max sent his wife Alicia and their son Elias to Angel Island to escape to safety when Sally was a baby. When they crash landed, and were presumed dead, Max groomed Sally to be the next heir for the Acorn kingdom until her father was banished in The Special Zone years later, he came back though. Alicia and Elias came back the same way they did in the Archie comics. Another thing to know is that some of my ocs, and their species, are in this au as well! The species is called Novians, they coexist with the equestrians. My OC's that exist in this au Isis Minorel Pacifica Catrine Jackson Somber and a few more that I haven't introduced yet! Jack and Isis are not energy vampires in this au but they still have their powers. NOW ONTO THE PLOT!! ~__________________________~ Basic Information: In this au, the Mane 7 are all sisters and Celestia is their mother, Isis is their adopted sister and Derpy is their first cousin, making her Luna's daughter. Celestia is queen of the equestrian humans, while Luna and Cadence are her royal advisors. Jack's father, Fredrick Somber is the monarch for all of the Novian species, he has a good friendship with Celestia. They reside in the kingdom of Equestria on Mobius, while the Seaquestrians live in the deep blue ocean not too far from where the kingdoms reside. They aren't from Mobius originally, they come from their own separate planet but it became uninhabitable. The equestrians are on peaceful terms with most of the species on the planet, especially the Mobians, and do whatever they can to help. Equestrian Human Species Info: Equestrian humans look the same in the original EG movie but the difference is that they have abilities based on their pony counterparts. Pegasi-based Equestrian humans can summon their wings at will, just like how Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy did in the first movie and so on. Magic-based (AKA unicorns) Equestrian humans can use their magical abilities to lift things or use them as a weapon for self defense, they DO NOT have horns. Earth-based Equestrian humans are just like regular humans but with a slight enhance of strength. Alicorn-based is just magic and pegasi mixed together. The Mane 7 and the Elements of Harmony: The Elements of Harmony were assigned to the 7 princesses at birth, much different to how the elements were assigned to their previous users. There are seven elements: Honesty Kindness Magic Laughter Loyalty Generosity Forgiveness There used to be six, but their late father had unleashed the element because of his forgiving nature and heart. Isis doesn't have an element but is still considered very powerful. ALL of the Mane 7's abilities in this au are the same powers they have in the fourth movie and mini series, the only difference is that they don’t transform unless they use their elements. They do have different transformation designs throughout the story, like how Sailor Moon does. I wanted Sunset's element to be forgiveness because she started out as an arrogant and cruel person when she was introduced. After her defeat, she had worked so hard to not only become a better person, but to also receive forgiveness from the people around her, including herself. Sunset is the literal reason why this au exists and I love her for that. An important fact about Sunset is that she has pyrokinetic powers in this au, which she inherited from her mother. It is dubbed, The Royal Flame. Pyrokinetic Abilities - Can control ANY kind of fire - Can breathe in fire - Can control her body temperature in cold weather - Her fire won't burn people she trusts, unless she commands it too - If she gets wet her powers won't work for a little while - When angry or frustrated, her body gets super hot - If she becomes emotionally unstable, she turns into her she-demon form, it happened once Mane 7 Ages and Birthdays (From oldest to youngest) (These birthdays are not canon to MLP, I made them up)

Zecora x Uncle Chuck?? and many more I have yet to introduce~ ~~~~~~~~~ History: Before they arrived on Mobius, the Equestrian humans weren't just one of Mobius' "inhabitants" and Equestria wasn't just a series of kingdoms. Oh no, it was once an entire planet bursting with life. The Equestrian race and the other inhabitants of the planet, Novians, coexisted together in peaceful tranquility. Throughout the years the two species would adapt and expand, turning villages into towns, towns to cities, cities to kingdoms. With the Novians vast knowledge of elements  and alternative fuel, and the Equestrians intelligent and superb skills in magic, it seemed that it would be perfect... but like all harmonious times, the destructive flames of war will soon come when unexpected and burn it all to the ground. There was another species among the Equestrians, Novians and Seaquestrians. They were the Centaurs. The Centaur race currently has a very rocky relationship with most of the other races from Equestria, the reason why is because of one single Centaur, Tirek. Many years ago, when he was just an organizer at a scroll store, Tirek had a huge dislike towards the Equestrian race, he hated them because the Centaurs didn't have much land nor much help at all. He thought they were selfish and greedy, hogging all the land for themselves and not leaving any for his people. He studied the arts of Dark Magic along with his brother Scorpan who also shared the same disdain for them as he did,  Once Tirek mastered it he had a battle to the death with the Centauran leader with him being the victor, after he disposed of him he took it upon himself to become the new leader of the Centaurs and wage war on the Equestrians and every other race that dared go against him. The Centaur War was the most brutal war ever, countless soldiers were killed, innocents were slaughtered, and kingdoms had fallen.Scorpan, now seeing the consequences of all of this tried reasoning with him. Feeling betrayed, Tirek murdered him out of anger and continued with his plans. For many, many years the Equestrians and Novians had fought long and hard but it seemed that they had reached a stalemate, they started to lose hope. It wasn''t until Galactus Centauri, a vigilante from the Crystal Empire had stepped in to help. Without knowing it, his kind heart and forgiving nature had revealed the lost element of harmony, Forgiveness. With the power of the 7th element, Galactus, Celestia and the other elements of Harmony had forced the Centaurs into submission. Most of them gave up and surrendered to the Equestrians, but not Tirek. Tirek, along with his minions and followers had disappeared. After they left for the time being, Galactus and Celestia married and had seven beautiful girls which would later on be eight when they adopt a 5 year old Novian orphan named Isis. Things seem to slowly get better for the Equestrians.....until Zecora had a horrifying vision. She had quickly told the king and queen that the planet was slowly dying and forming dangerous volcano's everywhere, the reason being all of the magic Tirek took during the war. She stated that in approximately 7 months the planet would become nothing more than a volcanic wasteland. With no time to lose they informed every citizen and species on Equestria that they will be evacuating the planet. Every spaceship was filled with Equestrians, Novians, the animals that were saved, and even some Centaurs. Galactus thought it would be okay, that they would finally be free from the war, and Tirek. Until he heard that his daughters Pinkie Pie and Sunset Shimmer were kidnapped by the centaur warlord. Galactus and a few soldiers went on a rescue mission to save them, unbeknownst to them that the volcano's were coming toward to where they were. In the end, Galactus, Sunset and Pinkie were the only ones who escaped Tirek. When they had reached their home castle the ships had already left because it turns out that planet's core was ready to burst early. After confronting, and defeating, Tirek once again in the castle, the three had reached to a magic teleportation chamber. There was another chamber on the ship that could teleport them back, but it required a lot of magic to do so. Galactus was heavily injured from his battle with Tirek, he didn't have time to heal because a volcano had formed under the castle and would burst any second. He had to act quick, he only had enough magic to teleport two people. So with every last bit of his magic and energy he teleported a heartbroken Sunset Shimmer and Pinkie Pie back on the ship, leaving him to die as soon as they were gone. Equestria had mourned for it's lost king and their lost home, but soon they would find a new home, with new allies and new foes as well. They would rebuild, adapt, expand and help those in need, just like they did all those years ago.... ANNNND THAT'S MY AU FOLKS!! I HOPE TO DRAW IT REAL SOON! I didn't go into full detail on the history part because I want to keep some things secret for now ;3 I really hope you love it as much as I do!! Jet Wolf Summarizes Act 45

The manga and I kind of hate each other. This is unfortunate, but still, I’m determined to come out of this with something. Rather than spend energy on a liveblog that’s increasingly negative, I’m reading each manga act (mostly) silently, and then writing up summaries at the end. I won’t pull my punches. There’s going to be criticism and snark about the manga, either wholesale or in details. If that isn’t a thing you feel like reading, please skip this post!

It’s not that I’m disappointed by how surprised I’m not by anything that happened here. It’s more like the resigned haze of going through a vaguely unpleasant experience. Like going to the dentist. You’ll never be happy to go, but you take a deep breath every six months and sit in the chair and get on with it.

Only this is weekly. And I can’t put it off for three years. ALSO I DON’T GET A LITTLE PLASTIC TOY AT THE END WHERE IS MY LITTLE PLASTIC TOY GOD DAMMIT

Anyway, I hate myself, SO IT’S MANGA TIME.

A brand new volume brings the same old shit, as we open with the Inners incapacitated and helpless. Remember how furious I was back in Crystal that I spent several hours combing through the fucking thing to calculate how much collective time the Inner Senshi spent knocked out or otherwise unable to fight? LITTLE DID I KNOW THAT WOULD BE THE MOST ACCURATE FUCKING PART OF THE WHOLE SERIES.

So the Outers burst in, all eyeless and mysterious. But not so mysterious that Haruka can’t be a fucking asshole to Michiru, who is also there. They transform in full view of the Quartet, which in no way seems contradictory to their vows to keep everyone safe. They free the Inners, who spend the next twenty pages or so simply saying the Outers’ names and otherwise doing nothing. Or so you’d think. Off-panel, the girls stand at their portable mini-bar and talk about their job search while CPR dummies in cheap store-bought Senshi costumes seamlessly replace them. After about fifteen minutes, Michiru has joined them. She didn’t bother with a stand-in. Nobody on-panel notices.

Artemis is a cat again. Minako picks up the vodka, pours a shot, and then drinks directly from the bottle.

At Usagi’s house, she’s suffering from Black Rose Syndrome. They still manage to work in Mamoru.

Back in the fight with the Quartet, Pluto lays down the most absurd fucking shit that I actually yelled when I read it.

THIS DOESN’T MAKE ANY FUCKING SENSE

"We can’t avoid our destiny, which is protecting Usagi (and Mamoru too for no fucking good reason I guess), so we’ll do all we can to do the thing we are destined to do to overcome that destiny in order to make a new one which will be identical in all respects to the old one for the next thousand years, minimum.”

SAYING “FATE” AND “DESTINY” A LOT DOESN’T MEAN YOU’RE ACTUALLY DOING ANYTHING TO AFFECT IT PLUTO AND YOU OF ALL PEOPLE SHOULD GET THAT

This entire part makes me so fucking angry. If the manga has reinforced anything, it’s the idea of its characters having exactly no will or control over anything that happens do them. Their personalities are paper thin and their devotion never justified, so literally all that’s left is “because reasons”. And if you want that as a central point of your story, by all means. But you don’t ALSO then get to wave your hand and try to claim this dramatic push toward freedom and choices. IT’S NOT AN “IT’S COMPLICATED” RELATIONSHIP STATUS HERE YOU’VE NOT PUT IN THE WORK TO EARN THAT AND I RESENT YOU TRYING

Anyway, through all of this, the Inners have been trying to reach Usagi, but she caught mono from Mamoru and it’s not working. So the Outers try, and THAT Usagi picks up. Off panel, Rei drains the last of her whiskey, throws the bottle into the wall, and storms out.

Usagi’s wide awake now and reduced to tears that the Outers showed back up again. I know I always feel the same level of emotion when thinking of a reunion with a small group of people I had five conversations with, only one of which was not directly threatening in some way. IT IS THE STUFF FEELINGS ARE MADE OF

Michiru’s mirror reappears, acknowledging her existence and thereby proving itself unique in all the Sailor Moon mangaverse.

Usagi runs outside, only to see Mamoru running to her. He heard her voice calling out to him. I can’t help but think that things would be a lot more bearable if earbuds had been invented.

You know, something I’ve had to deal with hearing a lot since starting this rewatch project is how the characters are so much smarter in the manga.

The time period between all the Inner Senshi entering that tend and the Outers arriving was, at absolute best, about ten minutes. The Inners were going to the exact same circus show every single day for like two weeks, and the bad guys were laying their global conquest plan WITH THEM RIGHT THERE, so effectively that they could spring it in less time than it takes to watch the average Steven Universe episode, and they still didn’t know what the fuck was going on until someone else told them. I’m not saying the anime had everyone operating at peak observational performance here, I’m just saying I don’t want to hear shit about comparative intelligence again. THE NARRATIVE MAKES CONVENIENT FOOLS OF ALL

Chibs runs through town, noticing how dark it’s getting and how generally shitty Juuban is. Usagi and Mamoru catch up to her, just in time to unite with the other Senshi for ~drama~. Zirconia and Nehellenia appear with my new favourite phrase.

USE IT AT YOUR LOCAL GROCERY STORE AND ENJOY THE REPERCUSSIONS

Immediately, Usagi coughs up blood and collapses. HARUKA IS ALARMED

Michiru finishes her wine and moves to the brandy.

Lots of things GLOW and Pegasus answers the call of “could this possibly be less interesting”. He appears out of nowhere and utilizes what is without question the creepiest fucking “good guy” power I have ever seen.

THE POWER TO MAKE PEOPLE EIGHT YEAR OLDS

GOD I AM SO UNSETTLED RIGHT NOW THAT PEGASUS CAN JUST DO THIS AT WILL

What purpose does this de-aging serve, you ask? WHO THE FUCK KNOWS THE STORY DOESN’T FEEL YOU NEED AN ANSWER TO THAT QUESTION

Then Pegasus fades, and so do Usagi and Mamoru, and the Senshi freak out as they realize that means they have to carry the story on their own. But the issue realizes what a terrible idea that is too, and it shifts to Chibs and Hotaru, who have run off alone to pursue Nehellenia. Why just them? FUCK YOU THAT’S WHY

They encounter the Quartet, and Hotaru spends a not inconsiderable amount of time trying to convince them that they’re really good. I would like to point out how this is the first time literally anyone in this story hasn’t killed a mini-boss on sight, and how nonsensical and contrived it feels because of that. ONCE AGAIN THIS WAS SO FUCKING EASY TO AVOID

Then shit kind of happens I guess, it’s hard to tell. There are orbs and mirrors and people sucked into both. Then I think they go to Nehellenia, or maybe she’s at a rummage sale and delighted by all the savings.

Sailor Stars thoughts:

1. The anime does its absolute best to make the Starlights unlikable. Taiki is a fucking asshole (he won’t even give a dying girl, who he explicitly was taken to visit, an autograph, and tells a bunch of children that their grandfather’s theory about souls becoming stars is dead wrong), Seiya is a Nice Guy who hits on Usagi constantly despite being told multiple times she has a boyfriend, and Yaten is a mildly sarcastic cardboard cutout. I know the manga doesn’t expand on them much but the anime is supposed to help make these people real. Counterexample is Chibi-Chibi, who hardly speaks in the manga and relies on her cuteness alone to be likable. They gave her a very cute voice because it was literally all they had to work with, given how often Chibi-Chibi actually appears

2. The dub cast for the Starlights is frankly awful. As civilians, Taiki alternates between a woman trying too hard to make her voice deep and having a bad cold, Seiya sounds like a prepubescent boy, and Yaten sounds like a woman (which they’re not, as civilians); as Starlights their voices are VERY high pitched, especially Yaten’s. Their sub voices just sound like woman talking a bit deeply and then normal women.

3. Why the FUCK did Toei think literally changing sex was less controversial than crossdressing? The Starlights are women and have always been women. Plus, them being male civilians in the anime creates a paradox, because if they’re men with sailor crystals who can become senshi, why can’t Mamoru - who is confirmed multiple times throughout the series as carrying the earth’s star seed and thus being Sailor Earth - do the same? Naoko said Mamoru can’t be a sailor senshi because he’s a man, but the Starlights don’t abide by this rule, they change their fucking biological sex

4. Why is absolutely no one concerned that Chibi-Chibi, a THREE YEAR OLD, just goes off on her own and has her own little adventures? She wanders into some strange old man’s house and they’re all “oh that’s just Chibi-Chibi,” and no one is worried that a literal stranger invites a three year old into his house where he gives her toys and candy? The 90s were WILD, man

5. Why does Chibi-Chibi, again who is THREE YEARS OLD, have a thigh gap?

6. This one’s on Naoko because it’s like this in the manga, but the anime is supposed to expand on the universe so I blame them too: Why does literally nobody question Chibi-Chibi’s motives? Some strange pink haired child who fucking falls out of the sky one day up and brainwashes Usagi’s mom into thinking she’s her second daughter, and nobody bats an eye at this? That’s sus as fuck and literally the only question anyone has is “is she your kid or Chibiusa’s?” She doesn’t even have a NAME, “chibi” is just a random word she says!

7. I am DIGGING the mobster feel of the Animamates’ civilian forms. Especially Iron Mouse and Tin Nyanko, who clearly launder money through a shady car dealership.

8. The Starlights’ only redeeming qualities are their snazzy entrance music and Seiya’s red suit

9. Why is Aluminum Siren the only Animamate who understands that a senshi has a pure star seeds? Like, y’all killed the senshi of your home planets to take their star seeds so YOU could be senshi (which is presumably why Galaxia wants more seeds, to make more Animamates with them), shouldn’t you know that?

10. Aluminum Siren/Lead Crow are trying their damn hardest to give Harumichi a run for their money in the quest to become the Best Space Lesbians.

11. So the Moon Kingdom fosters loyalty through child soldiers. I’m assuming Queen Serenity has her own senshi in the form of our senshi’s mothers, etc. (Which begs the question of if the Asteroid Senshi are supposed to be the future kids of our senshi or if they too are child soldiers from the asteroids they’re named after.) Kinmoku seems to foster loyalty by having the Kakyuu’s senshi fall in unrequited love with her. (In the manga it’s stated Kakyuu has a husband who died when their planet was destroyed.) I mean, whatever works, right?

12. I LOVE Tin Nyanko’s dub voice. She’s only around Usagi’s age and she sounds it

13. The dub actress for Lead Crow seems like she’s half assing it. Her voice doesn’t raise properly when she yells, she never sounds really angry, and it’s just so odd. I find a lot of dub voices do this, while the original Japanese VAs will scream their lungs out into the mic

14. On the reverse, Galaxia’s voice actress is a badass. She’s supposed to have a deep menacing voice but I like the one they gave her in the dub. She’s quiet, and sounds almost kind, and that’s a fucking TERRIFYING sort of villain we don’t see a lot of. Even when she’s pissed she doesn’t raise her voice.

15. Why are Lead Crow and Tim Nyanko the same height? Lead Crow is like 5’10 and Tin Nyanko is 4’11 like Sailor Moon

16. As an aside, Tin Nyanko and Lead Crow don’t like each other, which reminds me of the cats vs crows trash can showdown in Haikyuu lol

17. Haruka’s hate boner for Seiya gives me life

18. FINALLY someone calls the Starlights out on being assholes but it’s only after Makoto sees them harassing a THREE YEAR OLD (Chibi-Chibi). Literally everyone BUT Usagi thinks they’re assholes. “They sing such beautiful songs!” Bro. You can sing pretty and still be a fucking dick.

19. Lead Crow goes after Sailor Moon only after reading Siren’s notebook. Ditzy SIREN is the smartest Animamate, lord help them

20. Kakyuu’s dub voice is SO GOOD. She’s my favorite minor character, I’m still bitter they didn’t show Sailor Kakyuu

21. Seiya’s crush on Usagi was so awkwardly shoehorned in. I hate it. Jesus fucking Christ Usagi is sobbing in the goddamn rain about how much she misses Mamoru and Seiya is STILL coming onto her.

22. It is literally so fucking funny to me that Mamoru spends all of Stars fucking dead. He’s just a perpetual damsel in distress.

23. Rei literally lectures Usagi about leading Seiya on and how “you need to do the right thing and tell him you already have someone,” AS IF USAGI HASN’T BEEN DOING THAT AT EVERY AVAILABLE OPPORTUNITY. THE FIRST TIME THEY MET SHE SAID SHE HAD A BOYFRIEND, SHE’S TOLD SEIYA OVER AND OVER THAT SHE ISN’T INTERESTED IN HIM, THAT SHE’S GOT A BOYFRIEND, THAT SHE LOVES HER BOYFRIEND. The fucking MISOGYNY here, like it’s Usagi leading Seiya on instead of Seiya being a fucking Nice Guy who can’t take no for a goddamn answer. Shut the fuck up, Rei.

24. Pretty sure under Kakyuu’s headdress is a pair of odango

25. The fact that Iron Mouse and Aluminum Siren both die when their bracelets are removed yet Tin Nyanko doesn’t implies that Tin Nyanko was the original Sailor Mau. Mouse and Siren dying implies that forcing senshi powers on a civilian is dangerous and that Galaxia’s bracelets are the only thing keeping them alive (albeit brainwashed). Yet Tin Nyanko seems to revert to “good” when one of her bracelets is destroyed. Galaxia has to intervene and kill her personally. Tin Nyanko may have offered her senshi powers to spare Mau (this applies only in the anime; in the manga she’s explicitly said to have killed Sailor Mau)

26. Oooh Galaxia’s angry voice is so commanding and sexy

27. Don’t gimme that “we love Usagi but we love you Starlights just as much.” No you fucking don’t. The whole death scene in the anime is just so... ugh. Bad.

28. The Outers fighting Galaxia is hilarious. They’re supposed to be stronger than the Inners yet Galaxia never even has to get out of her chair to kick their asses. The writers were trying real hard to make us fear the worst and back the senshi into a corner but literally they’ve made this an impossible battle to win that only becomes winnable due to plot armor.

29. Rewatching Stars and classic after Eternal and Crystal makes me miss the battle damage the fuku took. The new series always has them looking pristine, but in classic they actually get roughed up and battle scarred. It makes it more real.

30. Aww how come Uranus and Neptune got to keep their names when they joined Galaxia? I wanna know what whack ass Animamate name they would’ve gotten. (Also Galaxia literally just sent them out like Pokémon, wtf)

31. I feel like Saturn dying shouldn’t be possible since she’s literally a senshi of death but... whatever, go off I guess.

32. So.... Uranus and Neptune joining Galaxia to try and take her star seed is a cool idea that absolutely did not happen in the manga, and needed more than half an episode of development. Would’ve been a cool plot if it wasn’t so rushed.

33. So much of this season was rushed so they could tie the series up at a beat 200 episodes. If they really didn’t want to go over 200, they should’ve cut the Nehelennia arc (which isn’t in the manga anyway) and and focused on developing the Animamates, this sweet Harumichi betrayal plot, and explaining Chibi-Chibi??? Her existence makes no sense without Sailor Cosmos, and they just... didn’t include her??? Wtf

Meet the Robinsons Re-watch

I freaking love this film when I was younger but I haven’t watch it in a good while where I could actually make a review about it. I got my chance thanks to Netflix and while I still love this film...my god did the writers really screw up time traveling to make this film work. The fact there are SEVEN writers says it.

Before I get into that though, let’s talk about some other things!

Pretty sure Lewis’ mother and Franny share similar models. Actually, I’m sure most characters similar models. Freaky.

It’s funny to watch this film because every other scene Lewis’ voice changes voice actor. Makes it seems like he’s going through puberty (actually, I think that’s why he has two voice actors to beginning with because I think one of them enter puberty and they need lines ASAP).

Speaking of voices, Wilbur’s voice is deep for a thirteen year old and it’s jarring when his voice goes super high pitch like a kid in two scenes: where Wilbur  tells his mom Lewis is an orphan (like dude, I know you know Lewis is your dad who eventually get adopted but don’t say it so casually) and when he and Carl rescue Lewis.

Also, Wilbur got sass by his mom without even knowing it! (:0)

The whole Future World is cool, but what’s with the bubbles? Like, people fly in them, and when the Bad Future goes bye-bye, the regular Future World comes back as bubbles.

I’m not surprised that the family doesn’t know about the garage/can’t find it (sans Wilbur, Carl, Franny, and Cornelius) since the house is A FREAKING HUGE LETTER R.

Singing Frogs Are Cool. Not sure how they could wear teeth, but whatever.

The Pop Quiz scene is a freaking goldmine. Then the Tom Selleck joke puts the icing on the cake. Once you get to the ending though...you got to wonder if Wilbur said Tom Selleck for another reason.

I think Cornelius made some device to makes sure animals don’t kill people because the T-Rex is acting waaay too calm at the Robinsons’ household. I mean, that explains Lefty.

BHG’s revealing himself to be Goob is actually a good plot twist because you think the short sad sport kid couldn’t be a villain until BAM! His future self is! And it’s shocking to see since Goob in an earlier scene was willing to let got of the lost of the game and pretty much not blaming Lewis for it, and you see BHG not forgiving Cornelius, showing such a contrast on how two people who are the same actually are. It’s like, seeing the worse version of yourself (and it’s technically true).

Doris clearly belongs to the Terminator franchise.

...What happened to Lefty and the dog in the Bad Future?

DID THE FILM EVEN SHOW WHAT HAPPENED TO CORNELIUS IN THE BAD FUTURE? LIKE NOT EVEN A SILHOUETTE? 

I only got a quick look at the date Lewis imputed, but Lucille and Bud’s wedding happened at least 15 years prior to the film (and judging by the fact a young Mildred is there apparently, I’m not surprised Mildred was certain Lewis and the new family was going to click).

I love the credit songs, especially the second one.

...THE SECOND TIME MACHINE IS STILL IN THE PAST DID NO ONE REMEMBER THIS? WRITERS? ANYONE?

Now we get to the nitty-gritty stuff...TIME TRAVEL:

Lewis pretty much caused a hole in the time-space continuum by saying he will never invent Doris. It got worse when Lewis let Goob catch the ball because Future!Goob is BHG and BHG is who he is due to the past. Now, it’s possible that by erasing Doris, BHG is just an angry man fuel by his past. By letting Goob catch the ball, it makes sense that BHG changed into a happy adult!Goob.

But that means the T-Rex shouldn’t be in the ending because the second time machine never got stolen at all. That leads to my next point.

From my knowledge of watching time travel films/shows with time traveling, it’s okay for future people to touch and interact with people from the past. It’s also okay in some films/shows to let past and future version of a character to see each other  (Back to the Future being the sole exception to my knowledge)...but no touching interactions. Like seriously, Sailor Moon Manga Black Moon Arc (same deal in Crystal’s adaptation I think) has Usagi and Neo-Queen Serenity see each other, but the two Silver Cystals (don’t remember their real names) could not touch or else shit will happen (and it almost happened due to one of the villains!). Why am I bringing up Sailor Moon for this?

Because there’s no way Cornelius should have been able to touch Lewis on the shoulder (or cover his eyes for that matter) without serious problems in the Time-Space continuum. That means there’s one of two things:

1. Lewis does became Cornelius, and does married Franny and the two have Wilbur (the idea of Wilbur disappearing because Lewis somehow was involve in how Franny and bio!dad got together so Lewis not becoming Cornelius factored into that is complicated, even for this movie). The thing is Cornelius died. On his trip. It explains why there isn’t a Bad!Future Cornelius shown. Anyway, Franny calls to get Cornelius but BAM! She learns her husband just died. Frantic, she tells the friend and told him what is happening, Realizing this is a big problem, the friend, who just happened to look similar to Cornelius (Lewis has freckles-like things on his face, Adult “Cornelius” doesn’t), decides to be Cornelius (by say, dying his hair) until Lewis leaves to the past and once they get the second time machine and return the T-Rex. Wilbur (and I guess rest of family) never learns of the ruse, since with Doris erasing to nowhere means Lewis!Cornelius keeps his word and BHG is rewritten to be an adult Goob who kept his love of sports, the time-space continuum fixes itself with no time-loop needed at all. This allows Wilbur and the rest of family (plus Franny again since time got re-written so doesn’t remember the film events) to properly learns of Cornelius’s death on the trip via friend (who hair is back to its natural color because time re-written itself so he didn’t have to be his recently dead friend).

2. The Time Machines are time machines...but it also travels across alternate/parallel universes. Everyone is just going back in the past of a parallel universe where the film happened to resemble’s Cornelius and BHG’s past. Rules regarding alternate/parallel universe allow the touching interaction rule with past and future version of characters (I mean, Fringe had the two Olivia’s beating the crap out of each other, so that means the same ‘character’ can interact with each other). With this logic, the Bad Future is a pocket universe that was going to replace Main Universe, Film Universe, or both, but Time Machine One is still there because the future isn’t done being settle yet. Going along with this, Lewis is still a kid because time-space continuum has no idea if they should leave him as his kid self visiting the main universe or forcing him into his adult self in the new universe. Once the dust is settle and the film ended, we can figure the differences between the two universes: Main Universe has Cornelius still invented Doris who is suddenly gone, BHG is out there looking for his new future, and the family has a broken window and pet T-Rex. Film Universe has Lewis/Cornelius never planning to build Doris, an adult Goob who kept his love of sports, and the family has no broken window and pet T-Rex.

I like the second option better.
