when i was a freshman in high school, the english department hosted a short story contest across all grades. and stories ranked 1st thru 3rd all had prizes, with 1st places being that your story would be published in the local paper.

i was so excited, that when i finished writing mine i showed it to my friend who was also planning on submitting something. THIS BITCH STOLE MY STORY (not just the idea, i’m talking the entire piece), SUBMITTED IT AS HER OWN, AND IT GOT 1ST PLACE!!

not only did she receive my credit, but i got in trouble for trying to pass off “her work” for mine when i turned MY story in.

this is why to this day my mother is the only beta reader i trust. bc there is no way in hell she would want to take credit for all the gay sex i write.

the fact that nobody in the tlt universe other then alecto (possibly not anymore after the tomb) is ever scared of death is wild to me cus they know what happens after death and it’s going mad until you loose all semblance of yourself. and nobody has a reaction to this???

like yes you could argue it’s just a fact of life they’re used to it but like people have existential crisis’ about death and that’s a fact of life. and yes we’re not surrounded by it like they are but still i feel that such a close relationship with the spirits of the dead like the fifth has to freak you out even if just at first, the whole the more you know about it it either scares you shitless or your no longer scared. and the other houses who know about it in a more abstract way like that would freak me out like wdym i’m going to loose all coherent thought. it’s just a given???

theres my older pacifica- after weirdmageddon, her and gideon become friends. theyre both sort of ostracized from the town as a whole bc of their past attitudes/actions so they cling together and become buds. its nice having someone else who 'gets' it.

pacifica moved out as soon as she could to get away from her folks and has a job at a local mall. gideon enables her to enjoy at least SOME of her old luxuries by taking her shopping and to get their nails done together and stuff. also his prison buddies help ''kindly persuade'' her parents not to break her enforced no-contact rule from time to time. i know the two have the bitchiest gossip in the entire town together. sometimes when its hard to be 'nice' they know they can at least vent to the other and they wont get judged for it, yknow?

also some backstory doodles! he was a Normal Kid, Once. or close enough to it. gideon was a sickly child and was sheltered and homeschooled for most of his life. the gleefuls moved from texas to oregon when he was about seven (yes i know this breaks canon a little. its fine shh.) and he found journal 2 shortly after. things went downhill from there

other notes. he's always kept his hair long, but used to either let it down or tie it into a long braid. he very briefly attended a public school and he didnt fare very well there (fat kid + albino + 'girly' + general weird interests is basically painting a massive target on your back) he used to stay up and watch late night televangelists when he couldnt sleep in hospital and copped his aesthetic from there

My mom didn’t want anything for Mother’s Day and didn’t really wanna do anything either. Only thing she wanted to do today was garden, so I’ve been out with her in the dirt most of the day. It’s our thing. We tend her garden together every single year. And after her stroke last year, I’m extra grateful we get to garden together this year.

i know astrology is fake but i'm not too keen on how a lot of people on this website seem to be clowning on it as a hobby a bit too hard. i swear the woman who thinks it's neat how she and her friends with the same sun sign are all similar isn't trying to say that you are who you are born as and there is nothing you can do to change it. it's a hobby. an interest. what happened to finding meaning and joy in the small things. does it affect you if someone enjoys tarot reading or crystals. does it make you upset someone has interests that they enjoy.

in book 2 she’s investigating a strange illness centred on a magic school for boys

and in book 3 she’s attending a global magician conference held in a creepy castle - when someone’s murdered, and they’re locked in until she figures out the culprit

finished blood of olympus with the 11yo i babysit yesterday.. here were a few of her thoughts from the end:

"it's like [rick] suddenly remembered he wanted to give nico character development"

"nico got +100 character development and [percy] got -100"

"no offense but after all that build up.. [gaea's defeat] felt way too easy"

"we love piper" (this one's a pretty consistent repeat hehe)

i was surprised she didn't say anything about octavian's death, bc she really hated him, or really anything about leo being alive at the end. thought she did point to the word "six" where nico was referring to the argo crew after leo's death and say "sad :(" ..the main thing she was concerned with at the end was the fact that jason didn't die, bc she'd heard a spoiler and was so sure that it was for the end of boo (storm or fire etc.). she still hasn't gotten to the conclusion that his death must happen in toa.. it'll be an interesting next couple of books.

I don’t think Harrow would actually like… murder someone straight out. She’s like a dog chasing a car. She wouldn’t know what to do if she was presented with the opportunity to murder the people that annoyed her. tbh I think she would just monologue a lot.

Gideon, however, is much more likely to murder people as we all know. She’s the one most would think is the ‘kinder’ of the two of them.

I just think that’s fun.
