Give me more shaking whumpees.

Give me whumpees who are shivering so much from their high fever that they can't even hold a bottle of water up to their lips, leaving caretaker to hold it for them like they're bottle feeding a baby animal.

Give me whumpees who've lost so much blood that they're pale and trembling violently, their skin cool to the touch. Their body is desperately trying to keep them warm, but with each new shudder they're just bleeding more and more.

Give me whumpees in shock- whumpees who find out something so emotionally distressing that they can do nothing but shake, eyes fixed on a single point, jolting away from any touch.

Give me more shaking whumpees.

a character who has bottled up something terrible that happened to them. maybe it's something they saw, maybe something done to them, whatever it is it's profoundly traumatized them. they keep going, pushing it down, dismissing concerns, or even having suppressed it long enough nobody even knows to be concerned at all. and then one day they talk. one day, because they finally can't take it anymore, or they were so triggered they can't keep it in, or something messed with their control (fever, drug, etc) that they just spilled it out.

and the entire time they're talking, they're shaking so hard it makes it difficult to speak. their friends/teammates/whoever try to listen and try to help, extremely alarmed with how seriously they're affected, but the shaking just keeps getting harder. they're not crying, they're just. shaking.

I’m not usually a fan of sick Whump, but when Whumpee is running such a high fever that they’re shaking, taking uneven, shallow breaths, their skin chafing and burning against their clothes.

The moment Caretaker lays a palm on their forehead to check their fever and Whumpee sighs with relief because it’s so blessedly cold.

The moment Whumper cups Whumpee’s cheek with one hand and turns their head slightly, and Whumpee hates themself for leaning into it, but they just want the burning to stop.

Shaking

CW: blood, violence, mention of death and torture

Villain let himself slide down the wall of the street, in a state of shock. He shut his eyes tightly. Tears escaped anyway, and he didn't try to stop them. He hugged himself tightly, trembling violently.

It was his fault. By his carelessness, he had led the heroes to his secret base. And now everyone he loved was dead.

He pushed his closed fist against his mouth, forcing himself to stay silent as he sobbed. He had managed to escape before his home exploded, with the bodies of his friends still inside, but the heroes were still after him. He had to keep a low profile, but how could he think of that when everyone he had ever cared for was gone ? They had trusted him. Even as they had noticed the heroes approaching, none of them had fled from his side.

They should've.

Villain froze, his eyes shooting open. He had heard something, close by. He stayed as still and silent as he could, but he couldn't stop trembling, his whole body shaking uncontrollably.

- Villain, I know you're here. You're losing a lot of blood, aren't you ?

He was. He was weak, injured, and crying like a child. And hero's voice so close was only making him shake more.

- Surrender now, and we won't hurt you.

But villain didn't believe him. It was a lie. They would hurt him, they would torture him and kill him like his friends.

So when the hero's flashlight began to illuminate the ground near him, he just curled up tighter and continued to tremble silently.

It’s the little things.

When a whumpee can’t stop shaking any time anyone gets close to them.

Especially if it’s a caretaker trying to help out with some first aid equipment but it’s reminding them too much of the tools their whumper used.

Even better if there’s a needle involved cuz body will definitely go in to fight or flight . Whumpee gets worried that their shaking will mess up the injection and cause several redos

Whumpee generally knows they are being unreasonably scared because the caretaker is trying to help, but they can’t stop shaking

when a character is so afraid that they’re shaking. no matter how put together or stoic or compose they normally are, when they reach the point where they’re so terrified they can’t control their physical reactions? trembling, breathing hitching, maybe the clink of handcuffs where their hands are shaking in their restraints. shaking so hard they can’t escape noticing it - and can’t escape their captor noticing either.

So funny story, I had to hold my arms super tense for basically a whole day and let me tell you, the uncontrollable shakes I had when I finally loosened up. Like I could barely grip anything because everything was so spazzy. TLDR do that to your whumpees, have them hold a stress position that basically sets them on vibrate mode until the terrible soreness kicks in

Frightens

Warnings: manhandling, threats, kidnapping

"The thought of something happening to you frightens me, Whumpee," Caretaker had said earlier that morning. They said it pretty regularly because of how reckless Whumpee was. How willing they were to put themself in the line of fire for someone else.

And now they were living their fearful reality.

Whumper had threatened to kill a civilian unless Whumpee surrendered themself. Caretaker and the others had, of course, refused to allow them to do that. What they hadn't accounted for was that while they were investigating Whumper's latest crime, their Accomplice had been actively plotting to kidnap Whumpee.

Accomplice succeeded.

Caretaker replayed the footage over and over. Replayed their greatest fear. They watched Accomplice grab and shake Whumpee violently. Over and over. They watched Accomplice throw Whumpee to the ground. And they watched, with growing dread, as Accomplice dragged Whumpee away.

Caretaker had failed to keep Whumpee safe. And this time it wasn't even from themself. This time, Caretaker failed because they hadn't thought ahead to what Whumper would do if Whumpee did not surrender themself. They could only hope that the team would find Whumpee before any serious harm befell them. Caretaker didn't want to think about what would happen if they were too late. Couldn't think about it. They would find Whumpee and bring Whumpee home. Safe and sound.
