okay hereeee are some ted opinions that i feel as though i should share before i explode with frustration.

teds paranoia is due to AM of course, yes. this is horribly tragic and what AM has done to the survivors is HORRIBLE. but.... it doesn't excuse the CLEAR misogynistic bias ( and possible racial bias STAY WITH ME HERE IM BLACK I AM THE MOST CERTIFIED TO TALK ABOUT THIS. ) ted displays towards ellen. when talking about the others he doesn't make derogatory statements towards their gender identities or their choices within their past lives. especially with benny being gay he only states that AM had sexually humiliated him because of it, which does not mean he agrees with it. but then when he shifts over to ellen it's so OBVIOUS how victim blamey and sexist his words are. implying that she enjoys servicing them and that AM had given her pleasure despite her clearly not wanting any of that. he doesnt only just GLOSS OVER the sexual humiliation of benny, he uses it against ELLEN. paranoia does not CAUSE bigotry to sprout, as someone with paranoia if anything it's more offensive to IMPLY that it would cause saying something that horrendous to a SEXUAL ASSAULT VICTIM. ( not only talking about the elevator here by the way, ellen being forced to service the others can genuinely be considered proximity assault and COERCION but whatever ) yes, i do feel bad for ted in the aspect that he is a torture victim and he's gone through so much and that he has genuinely been driven mad. but bigotry within madness cannot be justified in ANY right. it's also very insulting to his character to imply that his ONLY personality traits are being a douchebag. yes it's a big part of him because he is ,,, a douchebag. but to truly understand why you shouldn't like ted as a PERSON ( not as a character, he's very well written do whatever you want ) you have to peel away exactly at what makes his actions unjustifiable in the end.

moving on, his portrayal in the game is both interesting and completely absurd and horrendous. let me start this off by saying. Ted. Does NOT. love ellen. Ted is not ACTUALLY in love with this woman. He's just clinging to whatever he can for validation and he believes that he is ENTITLED to her validation because of his isolation and belief that the MEN hate him. not to mention his warped view on sex due to him being groomed may have led him to believe that sex = love. the short sporadic and awfully humiliating sparks of passion between ellen and ted during those intimate moments, especially for a grooming victim. may be incredibly confusing and conflicting. which of course is not at all teds fault, he's a victim. i don't blame him for that. teds character in the game in some aspects couldve been a beautifully done portrayal of how "love" and a want for it can bring out the worst in someone. that having trauma doesn't always make good functioning morally correct members of society. in other aspects. it's. bad. God fucking. JESUS it's bad i don't even want to talk about how horrendous he is written in the game christ on a celery stick. I can't even say this is because of my personal disliking of ted. all of the characters are so STRANGELY written in the game that is actually absurd in resemblance to their characters in the short story. but whatever.

I was going to avoid posting about Veilguard til I finished, but i’m about halfway through (i think) and I have so many strong emotions about Taash’s personal quest/romance so far that i have to share here:

so i just locked in Taash’s romance and on one hand… squee! But on the other hand, Taash-momma (i can’t remember her name, Shethan?) is so similar to my own mother that it’s made me break down in tears repeatedly. (The constant criticism! Nothing is ever good enough! Every conversation becomes instructions for what i should do!!) So i’m simultaneously excited to continue their romance but scared for them to come out as nonbinary to their mom, so I’m avoiding progressing the story right now.

On a more personal level: I did the math today, and I came out as bi to my mom almost exactly 25 years ago. She still doesnt “get it” and sometimes that’s fine, she doesnt need to understand as long as she accepts. And sometimes it’s actually truly funny bc she genuinely seems to think i’m just *really bad* at being a lesbian 😂 but also sometimes it’s very upsetting. So with Taash’s plotline with their mother, I know the “right” options from Rook-me are the “you should talk to your mom” and “she loves you” “she’ll understand” but honestly Real-me just wants to reach through the screen and hug them and tell them about “low contact” and “info diet” and “don't go to the hardware store for oranges”

I don’t know if I’m emotionally prepared to see Taash’s mother fail to understand their gender identity in a similar way that my mother doesn’t understand my sexuality. And I don’t know if I can handle watching her criticize them constantly the way my mother (still!) does to me. (Especially about food! Oh god that’s a whole other post…)

but if their mom turns out to be understanding and willing to change… i also don’t know if I am prepared to see Taash get the “oranges” I’ve had to accept I won’t ever get in real life, even though it’s a much happier ending for them if their mom accepts them and that’s what I should be rooting for but maybe i’m just a bitter person for that.

On a less-personal note: major kudos for Trick Weekes and anyone else involved in fixing the sins of Dragon Age romances past… not only are there tooltips explicitly saying that certain flirt options will start/lock in the romance, but picking the “flirt” option makes Rook flirt AND say something supportive, so you don’t feel like you’re missing anything by choosing the little heart 🩷

(Oh, and btw if you’re farther ahead than me in the game please don’t spoil me, even to be reassuring. I’ll be fine with however Taash’s personal quest ends, I just need to psych myself up before I face Taash-momma again.)

If I was to rewrite victorious Andre would be a cool trans guy who everyone in the school wants to go out w but hes actually secretly (not as much as he’d like to think, but still) pining for Cat, who’s actually aroace and pretty oblivious to his feelings, but she does entertain the thought of being w him which results in some silly situations like:

When she comes to Hollywood arts and the coffee incident happens there’s no romantic or sexual tension w Beck whatsoever (but Jade still hates her out of spite), they become very good friends w Andre just like in the show, is also good friends w Cat and Robbie and forms this unapologetically gay rivalry w Jade.

Jade is basically the same, just maybe less cartoonishly evil?? Still a lot of anger issues, bisexual she/they energy. breaking things and scaring the shit out of ppl. She dates Beck by the beginning but they very obvsly dont get along and its js as delightful as it is annoying hearing them argue abt everything all the fcking time and rant abt how much they hate each other js to not break up (they will eventually, dw)

Beck is not changed much, just more consistent. Sarcastic pretty boy, good actor, very blunt and open about his feelings, simply impossible to scare (maybe that’s why he managed to date Jade for so long💀)

Robbie is js the same weirdo w a puppet, except in this he’d lean more into a asshole-nerd trope. Is a fucking cunt to everyone, probably has big ass crush on Beck that he’ll never admit, flirts w every girl he sees out of insecurity, etc.

In this concept Rex is pretty much his own person, but since Robbie is a jackass then they are over all more similar, Rex still “bullies” Robbie, but it’s slightly toned down as they probably enjoy the same kinda things, have more compatible personalities, etc. Robbie’s js more awkward about… welll, everything.

Trina is still Trina, except we’d treat her like a actual character and not some “look, she���s bad at singing” joke

Cat is similar to her early seasons’ version, she is kinda dumb, volatile and weird but not completely out of it. She kind of knows how to play people (especially boys) to get what she wants. Most of her dumbness would actually be translated into obliviousness, Cat doesn’t notice thiings, she’s always in her own world and doesn’t rlly care abt “normal” things

In this Andre and Tori are best friends (none of the og chow fuckery where they claim beck and andre r besties somehow)

Cat and Robbie are completely platonic on Cat’s side while Robbie makes a few moves on her once in a while (w/o any intention of actually dating her)

Jade and Tori are just gay. I can’t really explain any way else. It’s the same as in the show, just more explicitly gay. Like, in the way where Jade probably goes out of her way to make Toris life miserable but gets very mad whenever someone else does it (shes probably screamed “only i can make her life living hell” at students in hollywodd arts more than once). Tori is also meaner to jade in retaliation, but theyre both kind of into fighting each other so its not rlly that much of a rivalry and more of a amusing thing. Theyre also weirdly jealous of each other. Jade chases people down the hall with scissors whenever someone makes a move on Tori

Beck and Tori are 100% platonic, they hang out more than they did in the show (which fuels jades bother w them in the beginning) but remain abt the same level of closeness

Jade is.. less mean to Cat. Like they dont find bothering her as funny bc she js doesnt understand it and it ends up being meaningless, thats kind of the only reason they manage to get along

Have you ever actually read anything I’ve posted about gender, sex, and trans identities, or did you just find a radfem with anon on and send the message you really wanted to send to a different woman?

Anyway, this right here is what I meant when I said that posting about women’s rights or abortion rights or whatever will have people asking you if you’ve ever considering not wanting to kill all trans women and assuming you do. I have never once said that all men are inherently evil. I have on several occasions clarified that I dont believe that. I have never started randomly yelling insults at people for mentioning trans women or worked myself into fits of rage thinking of them, and have in fact told people that I do not support those who hurl insults at all trans people or perpetuate transphobia. And yet, my posts about women’s rights in the context of my belief that female is a classification of sexual reproductive roles and nothing more leads me to receive asks from the friendly neighborhood anon asking me if I’ve ever considered not believing something that I dont believe and have never claimed to believe.

Now I could do like one person suggested, I could delete this ask and block the anon who sent it, but I think that would just perpetuate the belief that I do believe these things, even though I have explicitly stated that I dont agree with anything presented here more than once. It would at least perpetuate that belief with the anon who sent this message and now, I assume, checks my blog for an answer. I assume nonny doesnt scroll to the other posts where I’ve answered these questions, so this becomes my one chance to convince someone that believing sex is the role someone would play in sexual reproduction and also the basis for women’s oppression doesnt automatically come with the “kill all trans women” add-on.

Now to actually answer your completely unique and not at all passive agressive question. ;-)

I do not assume men are inherently evil and women are inherently good. I know that women and girls have the same exact capacity for hurting others as men and boys do. The question, then, would be why do men and boys hurt other people at a higher rate since we all have the same capacity for harm?

Because they have the social power to do so. Because in my country, 80% of judges are men. The majority of police officers are men. The majority of business owners are men. The majority of people who hold any kind of tangible power in this world are men. And men are sexist. A by-product of men’s sexism is that a man will side with another man, even if other class interactions would usually prevent it, if a women is the other choice. As a result, women often receive more jail time and higher fines for the same crimes. Where a man has a career and a future that would be ruined over just a little lashing out, judges see women who harm others as “failed mothers” and “failed caretakers” and hold them with contempt and disgust, many also punishing these women more strictly due to an incorrect belief that women are given lesser sentences. You’re right about even the idea that men=evil woman=good feeds into this self-fulfilling system that makes people in positions of power see harmful men as average and harmful women as uniquely evil.

So if I dont believe that testicles make a person evil, and I believe that social factors play into this much more than any type of “nature” argument, then where do trans women come in?

The average trans women is not perceived as female. The average trans woman is perceived as a feminine man. Even if a trans women passes in every way, in most of these situations even just being “out” as trans (such as in the way you would have to be in front of a judge or in a doctor’s office, official places where tour name and social matter) is enough to be perceived as a man by other males. This means that when people in positions of power, namely men, go to make their decisions about who to promote or what sentence to pass, the judge is not seeing two women in front of him. The boss is not considering two women in his head. The doctor is not treat two different women. He is seeing a woman and an effeminate man. And men side with men, even if they hate them. They have this weird thing called class consciousness, and they know siding with a man they hate over a woman they tolerate or even like will result in more male supremacy, something 99.9% of males fights for, and every male who has never consciously picked a side will always pick the side that boasts his supremacy.

I think the second part of your question kinda fell apart due to the fact I dont believe men are inherently evil nor women inherently good, but I will close with the fact that most radfems dont believe that inherently evil stuff, to the point that a separate community has been made (called blackpilled/blackpilledradfems) and repeatedly hounded out of our spaces. If you’d like to pose this question to a blackpilled radfem, I would like to hear the answer you’d get, but I and the spaces I occupy are generally the wrong area for this discussion.

spoilers for the veilguard, specifically taash's personal quests

taash's story was so good up until the point where they make you tell a multicultural character, who is clearly struggling with their identity and how it conflicts with their religion which is intrinsically tied to half of their cultural background, to just pick a side. hey choose to be rivaini or follow the qun. dont think about it, choose personal acceptance of your gender or half of your cultural background.

im sure theres some ex fundie, former evangelical or something out there who really related to this, but i am mexican, i live in texas surrounded by other mexicans and due to very specific and stupid reasons from barely 100 years ago, mexican cultural identity and community, especially if you dont actually live in mexico, is heavily tied to catholicism. even if i do not consider myself catholic and catholicism grates against my sexuality and gender, it is an intrinsic part of my identity that i still interact with.

the qun is weird, and bioware writers clearly dont write it well at all in each game. its clearly meant to be the bad choice in taash's story. but the way they just so flippantly are like. to someones cultural background. just say 'pick one!' like thats easy? even if taash doesnt want to follow the qun its clear that she is a diaspora qunari, the qun is not just a religion.

idk taash's story just soured at that point for me. it started off as my favorite cause im nonbinary and just. as soon as it asked me to tell taash to pick one, it felt gross.

not captain underpants themed , but yeah !! theres some things about the show i ' d personally change , and heres some of them !!

spongebob is ambidextrous ! it ' s canon , but no one talks about NEARLY enough . it ' s seen in the episode where squidward gets a ticket and is put back in mrs . puffs class . when spongebob is writing his side of the story , you can see him using his left hand to draw !! another instance of this is in the episode where spongebob gets a bad ass splinter , he says something along the lines of " good thing im ambidextrous ! " and proceeds to use his left hand to cook . i think that ' s a really neat feature no one talks about enough .

the fish DO swear . on the topic of sexuality , karen , plantons wife , is a raging bisexual . she was lit blushing while that one fish was dancing in one of the newer episodes . how is that NOT queer coded .

spongebob is totally intersex / androgynous . hes a sponge , most likely no real sexual organs , as we have seen multiple times . though we call him a male in most cases , a good sponge once said " am i a pretty girl ? " i personally see this as him not caring what people see him as , even if he potrays himself as a male most of the time . he doesnt have TIME to care about what other people think about his idenity . if you told him gender is what ' s in his pants , he ' d pull out a krabby patty LMAOO . on the topic of his identity , he ' s an unlabeled / pansexual ace . it ' s been confirmed by the creators that you can in fact ship him with anyone , just not sexually . hes so cool guys trust

I started following your blog and I see you post a lot of T4T so I'm just curious like what makes someone a chaser. Like I'm a cis bi/pan guy and I don't really care much who I'm hooking up with but I've found my experiences with trans men and women generally just a lot better than with cis guys or girls. Like I find these days when I'm dating and someone is trans it appeals to me more because if those connections but I don't want to come off as some chaser that just wants to fetishize trans people but I do still seem to just like them more on a personal level. And my last few long term dating were with trans guys. Like I see a lot of your posts and stuff and things like a trans boy puppy and stuff I find hot because like I used to date one but I feel worried reblogging a lot of that stuff and appearing as a chaser. Is this something that's ever come up with you before with cis friends or relationships in the past, and do you have any advice I guess.

everyone has different ideas of what a chaser is, some are more bad faith than others, MY general idea is someone who fetishizes transness and trans bodies

however, some people who also say this also include people who are just attracted to their trans partners/are t4t. so my idea of a fetishist is in a very negative way

what actions i would consider from a fetishist are wanting to control your partners transition, wanting your partner to halt their transition for sexual reasons regardless of what they themselves want, largely doesnt consider their trans partners human on the basis that they're fetishizing them. what this means is that a chaser may consider their partners wellbeing, consent, and opinions secondary to them and/or their fetish

what i DONT believe a chaser is is any person who has a history of dating mostly trans people (or even preferring to date trans people) for any other reason. theres lots of reasons someone may prefer to date trans people, im t4t for safety and comfort reasons

in my idea of what a chaser is, trans people are not excluded from that definition. my nonbinary ex guilted me into not getting top surgery or binding for their sexual fetish of transmasc bodies, and as a result, i lost a lot of my personal identity and my grasp of who i was. however, some people dont believe trans people can be chasers

and, noteably, you can have your preferences in partners influenced by past partners. my first serious trans ex made me realize im really into dominant women who are a little taller than me, for example. its very reasonable that, if you have had very good relationships with trans people, you might want to continue that streak.

also, ignore this bit if its out of pocket, but honestly if you find that you connect more with trans people than cis people, it might be worth exploring your gender a little bit. birds of a feather and all that jazz, yknow?

all in all, i consider a chaser to be inherently in bad faith. if you happen to have a trans partner or even just think trans dudes are hot (we are) then dw about reblogging my stuff! honestly i think with the way social media is right now with everyone assuming bad faith, anyone who even dates a trans person is usually gonna get called a chaser at least once. i've gotten called a chaser so many times, like yall my girlfriend is way worse of a chaser than i am lol

i think its really interesting how intersexism and misogyny and transmisogyny can all intersect and how many people refuse to acknowledge the fact that these forms of bigotry and oppression DO intersect and that your gender, while affecting HOW you experience oppression, doesnt exempt you from it. transfems experience transmisogyny at a rate different than transmascs, and acknowledging that shouldnt make you feel like you have to be on the defensive. but i feel that its okay for transmascs to also acknowledge the transmisogyny they face as well, without being shouted down that they dont experience any form of bigotry based on gender identity. the two can coexist, and i feel that you should be able to speak on transmisogyny, and misogyny, without having to constantly apologize or diminish yourself. the language around the gender spectrum (and the bigotry that comes with deviation from “standard” gender expression) shouldnt be segregated based on determinative gender identity and “oppressor bias” - it should be available to all people regardless of what each person individually thinks. to deny any one person the language to describe their experiences with bigotry is to essentially silence them from speaking ON bigotry. if youre a transfem thats experienced misogyny pre and post transition, then you should be able to speak on misogyny and describe it in the terms you want to! if youre a transmasc who has experienced it, you should be able to as well! and that goes doubly for the intersection between transphobia and misogyny (transmisogyny) and the queer infighting that people do over “who faces what” discrimination does nothing but detract and distract from discussions of bigotry and how its affected the queer community.

all thats to say that as an intersex transsexual man whose experienced transmisogyny, misogyny, and intersexism both pre and post transition… its important to me to be able to speak about my experiences. i should be able to describe the experience of when i had to quit multiple jobs due to being grilled about my genitalia, the fear and revulsion (including attempting to get me branded as sexually dangerous) i was treated with once discovered to be trans, and the many other aggressions ive experienced that are based in transmisogyny as transmisogyny, i should be able to speak about the experience of being put on medication to treat depression (that i had already been shown to have dangerous side effects as a result of taking it) and birth control rather than being provided with any form of care or information for my intersexuality and describe the intersexism ive faced as intersexism…... all while still respecting and uplifting other voices (whether transfem or transmasc) and their experiences.

tldr; the queer infighting has got to stop. the policing of language has to stop. we, as a community, need to uplift trans voices and stop punching down on transmascs who speak on their experiences, and stop harassing transfems for daring to speak at all.

i agree with what you're saying overall. i think contention is a natural part of any community simply due to the fact that individuals are going to have issues with each other; no community is going to be a homogenous sunshine-and-rainbows force that can always agree on what do to or what's okay/good/right depending on the situation. in fact, i think it's a good thing that people have differences and argue about things. it prevents things from becoming an echo chamber, internalizing a bad set of ideals, and going down a path of harm that fucks everyone over in the end.

intersex issues are something i have personal experience with but not in the body i inhabit. your perspective is an interesting one and an important one as well; i'd hope that anyone who reads this sees what you have to say and it expands their worldview a little more. your experiences with transphobia and misogyny (as well as transmisogyny) absolutely stand for themselves, but i will add that if i didn't know you were a trans man or trans woman i would assume you were a trans woman simply because it's more common for those on the transfeminine axis to be postured as dangerous for their existence. that doesn't make my set of beliefs right, however; just as you've had your experiences, the differences between ours make up those gaps at which devolve into the "queer infighting" you referred to at the end of your message.

so fun stuff fun stuff i have an ace pride pin on my pencil case and that is just about as open as i am about identifying as asexual due to my whole "a single-word label is never able to fully encompass the range of complex self-understanding and emotions of a person" approach to gender and sexuality and i really really don't want to get into the whole asexuality thing in relation to my own identity because that is wayyyy too closely linked to the darker parts of my personal history and i really don't need anybody to know. so subtlety it is, because i am also of the belief that it makes for a good nod to anybody who cares enough to even know the flag on the pin. but i have a friend who is ace too and with whom i have had that talk about my personal experiences around sex and attraction and just general intimacy and tactility but she has very little awareness that, while nominally open about my identity, i do in fact keep very quiet about it because i dont. want. people. to. ask.

cue to me handing her my pencil case fully aware that the pride pin is on there and she sometimes doesnt consider what she is saying and her immediately almost word for word repeating our conversation about it (not getting into personal history, but still quoting my approach to attraction (namely the "i dont swing at all" annecdote/quote from aftg because i am lame like that and it just fits as a description)) and a guy who i am fairly sure has a middling to major crush on me (which is weird for ANOTHER whole host of reasons) but who is also the most respectful person that i know is sitting right in front of me for all of that.

and here we are three days later with the guy asking me if that goodbye hug was weird or not (again, very nice dude who really likes respecting other people's boundaries). and then we get to the "was that weird because of "that penguin-pin on your pencil case"" and i have a grown ass man asking if i do not like people in my personal space because i am asexual and if that is a general asexuality thing and UGH this is precisely what i mean - i immediately have to explain that a) i am neither a representative of the identity i possess nor the community that it comes with b) that this community is NOT a monolith and c) i at most use asexual as a shorthand to get the "i don't want to date you fuck off" point across and don't feel that it, as either label or identity, fully encompasses my personal experience. and i REALLY don't want to get into the reasons for all of that so bless the guy for being good about boundaries and respecting mine. and not asking too many questions about it because NOPE we are not getting into the whole mess that is me and my relationship with sex and romance if there is any way i can avoid it. and in the moment my nervous system was on high alert because this conversation has the potential to go in a very bad direction for me. but i am reasonably sure that i will have to face the "why do you only talk about it when asked" question as well as the "so what does asexual even mean" conversation with this dude because our entire relationship is deep talking about personal problems until three am.

and on a last side note: i think the only people in my life that haven't yet gotten the gist of "i don't want to date anybody i do not care for sexual encounters get lost leave me alone in a hut in the woods with a barn full of animals pLEASE" are my parents and my best friend (although they are all aware of the fact that i am LIKE THAT, they are just not aware that there is a somewhat correspondent identity and label that i could utilize). in their case i am reasonably certain that, where my identity and lifestyle are currently accepted, giving it a name would only serve to "other" me, especially with regards to my dad who understands queerness only in the stereotypes of gay men and lesbian women. but at least my best friend needs to get with it sooner or later or one of my friends will assume she's in on it and be unable to keep their mouth shut (probably the same friend who was talking about the pin, she has bad impulse control and it is forgiven as the existence and meaning of the pin are public knowledge, so long people know to decode it (which, seriously, it's the year 2024 and this label has been around longer than my grandma).

reading yaoi for the plot

recently i seemingly entirely stopped my life for a week to read the visual novel Slow Damage.

i dont really play vn’s (reading in front of my pc is HARD) nor do i read that much boys love (i am a bit of a gayboy by nature, so im not opposed to it) so what drove me to absolutely devour this one.....i honestly dont know. i would never have bought it for myself but my bestie gave it to me. so here we are.

slow damage is a game that you Could play. maybe should and maybe shouldnt. its sad and since it deals with self harm, suicidal thoughts, violence, sexual violence and rape, child abuse and just about every other bad thing you can imagine.......... man that shit can be depressing as hell. and since its a eroge, they are out there sexualizing shit they really SHOULDNT.

AND I HATE IT!!!!!!!!!!! all those “fiction doesnt affect reality” talk some people do is bs in my opinion. yes, you probably wouldnt hurt people irl bc youre reading this rape scene. but YES, bad porn will still condition your brain negatively in the long run.

the protag, though horribly abused and traumatized, has the advantage of having a very functional very very loving support system in the form of his two best friends, one of which happens to be a doctor. can you imagine how much worse this could be. im constantly aware of it

thinking a lot about how much class plays a role in the last route and towa and fujieda only start to get along once their perceived differences are lifted, in fact them being “the same” is of fundamental importance - but also undermines how unbridgable their differences would have been otherwise

deeply in love with the fact fujieda, as someone who studied law and has been dealing with courts professionally, is this huge vigilante. bc he doesnt trust justice to happen unless he does it himself. and towa is important to him, but ultimately his own goals are just a bit more important than towas comfort. i love when characters have spines <3

if i post this in twitter, i’d surely get hated upon but someones gotta have to say this one day. also this does not target to mcytblr!!! this rant is more of towards mcyttwt!!!

remember how mcyt was so chill before all of this shit? how we would watch our favorite minecraters when the community was so small? or how mcc was an event that both ccs and fans can have some fun and entertainment once per month? and that was only last year too. now look at the new generation of mcyt fans and see why some of the old fans dont really associate the new ones.

as a fan of the old gen mcytbers like DanTDM, SkyDoesMinecraft, Aphmau and CaptainSparklez. heck im a fan of pewds’ minecraft series before dream or tommy or ranboo or the new gen of mcyt ccs blew up (a year before them if im correct), and we dont see drama or bad shit all the time when it comes to their content.

now compare that to the new gen where every single fucking day, a bored fan or anti would post shit drama in twitter where some of the people from twitter moved to tumblr just to not get a headache from the batshit craziness mcyttwt brought forth. and it just snapped more when the mccp21 rolled in.

heres some of my takes about the mccp21 issue:

1) “there’s a lack of representation of lgbtq+ in the teams!!!”

heres something to tell yall about that. scott doesnt have a fucking choice. scott smajor has told time and time again, WEEKS before the announcement of teams, that there are certain requirements and limitations to mccp21 thus there will be difficulty in choosing whos entering or whos not. limitations and requirements such as it will be streamed on youtube or how streamers with twitch contracts aren’t allowed to stream or (god bless scott’s good heart) scott not allowing some of the lgbtq+ streamers in joining the special event due to wanting them to have a chance to stream and experience their first mcc (so to those who said that ranboo should have been in mccp21, shut up ‘cuz scott wanted genderman to have fun streaming his first mcc but cant due to ranboo being a well-known twitch streamer). to those who complained that ant and velvet should be in the mcc, stop being selfish and do some actual research on why scott didn’t include them. a simple question to those two’s fans would answer that they can’t make it due to them camping for a week which within those days is the mccp21. they’re having time to themselves, not wasting it on a minecraft championship. 

take in the consideration that, oh i dont know, not a lot of lgbtq+ ccs applied to the event? its not a free invite championship (in fact, mcc has always been like that), it’s an applied with the sufficient and correct requirements kind of event. the artist who created the icons from the previous mcc for the teams said that scott let in some of the new ccs in last minutes due to lack of applicants not meeting the requirements thus not having custom artworks for the teams if they want to announce the teams in time.

2.) “there’s no lesbians or trans in the teams >:(((”

sadly enough, there’s not much of the players from the lgbtq+ community but to say there’s no trans people in mccp21 is utterly false. by definition, trans mean  denoting or relating to a person whose sense of personal identity and gender does not correspond with their birth sex. other genders such as non-binary, genderfluid, androgyne, bigender, gender expansive all fall under trans. you define yourself with the gender you personally chose and comfy with from you birth gender. so saying there’s no trans in the teams when there are players from the event like eret or sqaishey who are nb and genderfluid respectively are there to also represent not only the sexuality but also the gender identity of others??? like c’mon, please make sense mcyttwt. 

also, while its sad to not see lesbians, please know that lgbtq+ doesn’t strictly be defined by lesbians. ffs, lgbtq+ literally means Lesbians Gays Bisexuals Transgenders and Questioning (or Queer but im not too sure about that one) which means that there are still other representatives for the community in the event.

3) “technoblade is in the event?!!! WHAT THE FUCK, HES A HOMOPHOBE/LESBIPHOBE-”

utter clowns, toxic twitter users are. do you really think that scott smajor, an openly gay man, would let a supposed “homophobe/lesbiphobe” in an event that focuses in supporting the lgbtq+ community? do you hear yourself? do you even do research where the joke he made was when he was the same age as me and it was based on a historical article back in WW2? or how he passionately supports the community especially the lesbians because a lesbian couple complimented him to which kickstart his confidence? the man willingly went to this mcc event despite being flamed a lot in twitter because he (and everyone) knows that his chat, his fans and supporters, are literal millionaires. if you saw a stream from foolish where he auctioned canonical characters for funs, a techno fan donated thousand of dollars to get technoblade, and that’s only one fan, now imagine a hundreds of thousands of them.

like it or not, technoblade has always been open about his support to the community, especially that majority of his fanbase are from the same community that mcyttwt allegedly swore that technoblade hates.

ive seen the cool ones who actually took the consideration for scott's side and the criticism of the lack of representation of other communities within the lgbtq+ umbrella (ive even share some parts of it above so im also a bit upset to the lack of numbers in the community). and some of them are correct about recruiting lgbtq+ creators in youtube but! like i said, it's an applied event and not invitational one, so its up to that content creator if they want to join or not. the amount of cishet in the roster are just those who want to support the cause and/or backups/stand-ins in case scott and noxcrew can't find enough ccs in time!

just wanna clear this up because mcyttwt these days are covered by really cringe fans (ive noticed a pattern of them mostly new ones but there are still awesome new fans (like my irl friend who just joined this year) within the community) that covered the good ones where they enjoy, have fun and share some neat ideas and thoughts to the community within the platform!

Could you please help me understand how sex work isn't exploitative? I hear a lot of people saying "it's just the same as normal work, it's better than my job at Amazon/target/wherever and no one is calling that work exploitative" or "well you wouldn't do YOUR job if you didn't have to either" but like, checkout work IS hella exploitative??? Most work IS hella bullshit that only exists to feed the capitalist machine. I DO fight for a world where work is a choice. I understand why The Right would love onlyfans, but why is The Left lining up to defend it?

Sex work - especially things like onlyfans - is overwhelmingly done by the poor or as a way to escape poverty ("I was being paid shit in my previous job, now I can afford an apartment" is something I hear a lot). But in doing so it transfers all the risks to them, it's essentially turning sex work into the gig/hustle economy, isn't it? You end up on a zero hour contract with no union, health, benefit, maternity protection, in a job that can be hella dangerous and have serious emotional repercussions and requires huge emotional labour and/or disconnect and I don't really understand why we're just cheering this along?

I don't object on moral grounds. Sex is sex. Consenting adults do what you want. People are well within their moral and legal rights to choose to sell sex, (or the emotional labour that comes with it), or photos, or whatever they want - just like they are free to go work for target. I absolutely understand the need to - and support - decriminalisation of sex work, the need to make it safe and secure for sex workers, but I just can't see why ~the world at large~ sees huge numbers of young 18 year old women being herded and encouraged into joining Onlyfans - in several cases with people saying "can't wait for you to turn 18 so you can have an OF" so the patriarchy can pay £3-4 a month to see their tits and people cheer this along? One or two get rich, I'm sure, but who is getting REALLY rich? It's the old white men that own onlyfans and take a 20% cut, as always. It's the patriarchy working as it always has. Allowing one or two women to succeed while holding the rest down for exploitation. Except now it's mixing with the worst bits of 21st C capitalism, too. Surely all OnlyFans is is Uber for Sex work, using the gig economy to de-unionise and isolate workers, strip them of benefits, make them into independent contractors and profit off them?

Sure, it's a step up from kidnapping girls from Romania to have them do porn, but is that really the bar? Can we maybe just stop for a second and imagine a world where rich white men don't get richer off the emotional and physical labour of women? Where the other available work options aren't so shit that a zero-hour career with no employment protections, a limited lifespan, in a dangerous industry doesnt look like heaven in comparison? Sure, you can work for three years, sell your emotional labour, and pay for college. But why are we cheering that instead of asking why this has to happen in the first place? We're fiddling around the edges of the system, giving it a makeover, and rebadging it "female empowerment" instead of actually changing anything fundamental. Poor women sell sex. A few are allowed to break out. Men get to leer at naked women for pennies a year. Rich men get richer. Plus ça change. Not even to mention that because of the ~emotional~ connection that onlyfans gives beyond porn, we're embedding the idea that women are "money in, girlfriend out" machines. I know several girls that won't even *talk* to men in any situation without a minimum $50 fee. And apparently the fact we also have a crisis of men so lonely they're willing to pay this isn't a problem either? Where's our luxury communism dreams bitches?

I don’t think you’re a bigoted old fool. Nor a prude! I think you’re incredibly enlightened about the dangers of unfettered capitalism and labor exploitation.

Almost all of the issues you highlight about exploitative sex work can be said about exploitative labor in any industry. Poor people taking shitty jobs that don’t pay enough and enrich capitalist, patriarchal corporate overlords? That happens all over the world in industries from meat packing to clothing sweat shops to, yes, sex work. The exploitation of a person’s body for labor is an ethical stain on our culture at large. It’s why we’re so in favor of labor rights advances including a higher minimum wage, unions, and humane work environments.

Sex work is not unique in that it opens desperate and poor people up to labor exploitation. It’s not even uniquely dangerous to the bodies of workers--John Oliver did a bit on the US meat packing industry recently that made me faint with body horror. 

So we agree that labor exploitation is bad. And it’s something that we should work towards ending in every industry. But I can see why some people would view exploitative sex work to be a different kind of bad. Because sex is sensitive! It can be used to punish and hurt. See revenge porn and the way synonyms for “sex worker” are stigmatized and used as insults throughout society. 

Now, a few clarifications. When I refer to sex work, I’m not just talking about cam work on OnlyFans. There are lots of other outlets for many different kinds of sex work. And I’m also not just talking about women sex workers. People of all gender identities and sexualities do sex work, and we should advocate for fair labor practices and safety for all of them. I am firmly pro- decriminalizing sex work so that the industry can be made safe, regulated, and destigmatized in an effort to reduce exploitation. I want sex workers to have the power of collective bargaining! I want them to be protected by law enforcement and our justice system, instead of targeted by it! I want them to pay taxes and have the privileges associated with all tax paying workers! I want them to have the power and protection of a regulatory industry that will purge abusive and violent clients from their field!

I also disagree with the characterization that choosing sex work freely, even out of desperation, is a “step up from kidnapping a girl from Romania to have them do porn.” Human trafficking is not sex work. It’s slavery and torture. Even when the choice is between making $7.25 an hour working at WalMart and making $7.25 as a cam girl, there’s still a choice involved, even if it’s a shitty one. There’s consent. Trafficking victims have no choice, no consent, only violence. 

I honestly don’t want to start a debate here. We’re all on the same page that labor exploitation is bad. So I’ll just end with this: not all sex work is inherently exploitative. Which I guess is your real question!

I’ve mentioned before that I have friends who are former sex workers. Specifically strippers and a specialty dominatrix. As with any job, they had their ups and downs, their good nights and bad nights. But they all agree that they freely chose the work not out of desperation or a lack of other options. And they even enjoyed the work in some cases. If someone prefers sex work, thrives in giving that emotional labor to others, I’m not going to judge and I’m certainly not going to tell them they’re being exploited. It would frankly be insulting, condescending, to tell someone that their choice of work (when it truly is a choice) is bad for them. 

It’s a fine line, but the line does exist. Sex work CAN BE exploitative. But it is not inherently exploitative, as far as I’m concerned.
