Attention Reddit Snapeheads! We Got An...”Important” Matter To Discuss:
https://www.reddit.com/r/SeverusSnape/comments/14jqq2m/say_ideally_rickmans_snape_was_given_a_spinoff/
If (Rickman’s) Snape was given a spin-off series, what would the theme song be?
Personally, this is what I have in mind:
-In A Broken Dream (Python Lee Jackson): Though, given that this song was released in 1972, it'd be more fitting for Snape's years at Hogwarts.
-Wonderful Life (Black): I picture this song coming up when Snape has (one of) his Heroic BSOD moments...
-Wishing On A Star (Miriam Stockley): Might feel too fanciful for Snape (especially since this was the theme song for "The 10th Kingdom"). Still, it could fit as Snape could've grown up hearing the Rose Royce version and it's about trying to reach out to someone and reconcile.
-Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me (Roger Daltrey): Daltrey's version feels more in tune with Snape. Even with the song being for a movie abotu vampires.
-If I Apologize (Lain Ballamy): This is probably treason since Rowling and Gaiman kinda have a rocky relationship. But, this song would be perfect for Snape in regards to his relationships (including Lily). Besides, given that Snape enjoyed "A Cauldron Full Of Hot, Strong Love", our boy was a jazz man ;) .
-One By One (Eliza Ryde): Extremely fitting if the spin-off's about redemption that including a leading lady.
Honorable mentions go to Skunk's "Let The Sun", Isabelle Antena's "I Believe In It", Steve Conte's "RAIN" and Carl Anderson's "Try To Win".

A/N: So, hello there, it’s been a hot minute - hasn’t it? 👀🙈
As some of you know my life is CRAZY atm, not only with work but we’re moving and all that goodness as well so I’ve been inactive for a while here even if I’ve done my best to log on and try to add to our lovely community.
However, I saw this fanart of our young Snape yesterday (do check the post linked above and give it some love) and just felt inspired. So here’s a little smutty goodness of our beloved Snape at an age I rarely write - you know me loves, I want our dungeon bat on the more mature side but this young Snape just made my fingers itch. I hope you’ll enjoy it 😘

The sound of Moon Rage filled the room, the band’s hypnotic tunes with its edgy female singer easily overpowered any other sound. Or, perhaps, he was simply drunk and couldn’t filter out the loud sound of the record player.
Why he’d accepted your request to meet up, why he’d allowed you to smuggle alcohol into his room, why he’d agreed to you locking the door while whispering about the others being at the unauthorized graduation party by the abandoned greenhouse and not returning for hours to come — well, he couldn’t answer any of the sluggish thoughts that sneaked through his usually overcrowded brain for a few seconds.
It was quite desolate at the moment though. Only one thought echoed through the haze of alcohol after the questions fizzled out, you. The way you danced between his bed and wardrobe at the furthest left side of the room. Your hips swayed, and your hands skimmed atop your clothes. Your skirt hitched up, your slightly too-small shirt revealing every single curve of your upper body and the dangling of your tie across your chest was as hypnotic as the music.
He couldn’t believe you were there. Singing about being touched, humming about feeling like you could breathe under the sensual caress described in the song. You were magnificent in the dim candlelight. And he was hard. His cheeks flushed. His hand squeezed the fabric of his robe spread out on the couch from where he had an uninterrupted view of you.
You spun around — a new song filling the room with an even more sensual beat — and he blushed deeper as you smiled at him. You seemed less affected by the alcohol, or you were a more experienced drinker. The entire situation was new to him. Everything about it was so wholly new on every level and he barely knew what to do with himself.
You swayed your hips as you moved closer, he tensed and you smirked. Your eyes were alight with something he could only describe as mirth. Mirth and warmth. He was warm all over too, his cock strained against his trousers and jerked as your eyes darted down to it. Embarrassment filled him as you watched his tented pants with the highly visual outline of his erection intently.
“Like what you see, Sev?” you asked with a purr to your voice he’d never heard you speak with before as you dragged your hands up along your thighs, hitching the hem of the skirt up along with the motion — baring your black knickers. You moved differently, showed a new side to you he hadn’t ever even imagined you had. You were so sweet, so pure, so gentle normally. How could he not have noticed this side of you that made his heart hammer and pound so harshly yet your control was also comforting — it baffled him but his body was alight and too strung up for him to think further on it.
His fingers squeezed the fabric within his hand harder, his heart drummed as he watched your fingers trail up along your sides while tugging up the shirt before you unbuttoned it. The black bra matching your knickers came into view as you dragged it off and threw it on his bed while his breath caught in his throat — nerves coiled within him but the alcohol wouldn’t allow him to panic.
Severus gulped while it felt as if his cheeks were on fire, his cock nearly ready to explode. No, don’t-, hold it, don’t— “Sev?” you asked, interrupting his frantic thoughts. “Don’t you like me? Don’t you like what you see?” you continued with a shy smile but your tone, it wasn’t uncertain or worried about his answer. You sounded confident, sounded perfectly aware of what he was thinking.
“I-, I do,” he confessed — his voice slightly pitched despite it having become much darker over the last two years — as you moved your hips in a figure-eight. The way your stomach moved along with that motion, how your breasts bounced ever so slightly, and how you smiled almost wickedly at him had him in a twist of want-corded tension and he had never experienced sensations as strong as he now did.
“Won’t you show me, Severus?” you asked as you undid the button and zipper of your skirt, shimmying out of it. He gulped and panted while his cock jerked and his balls drew up, his body begging for release.
He’d dreamt of your body. He’d jerked off in the shower with the fantasies of your touch and moans. You had overtaken every whim of his hormone-riddled body, for over a year. A year of torture watching you from afar, knowing he’d never have a chance with someone like you. Someone so perfect.
“Y/n, please…” he exhaled while his body began to tremble with the restraint of not coming. But you merely tilted your head while keeping up your seductive dancing. “Be good for me, Sev…” you said just loud enough to be heard over the music as you moved yet another step toward him. The gloomy dungeon-like room with its green and silvery shades felt too hot.
Your bare skin glistened with a slight perspiration, little beads of salty water glittering in the low light that his mind screamed of wanting to lick up. His cheeks turned hotter still, his hand moving up to his mouth to contain his tongue and the involuntary moan slipping out.
Your eyes moved down to his trousers again, your gaze focused wholly on the pulsing erection he couldn’t do anything about while he watched you with a mixture of shame, need, and pure horniness while he squeezed the robe tighter in his hand, pressing his hand to his mouth harder as he moaned again when you stroked your breasts through your bra. Don’t come, don’t come… By Merlin, she’s so beautiful…
“Don’t be shy, Sev…” you hummed as you unclasped your bra. “Be a mess for me, like I am for you…” you continued as your breasts were exposed and he gasped while you toyed with your pebbled nipples. He groaned and sank into the sofa further, straining in every manner possible. You threw your head back with a moan and he couldn’t hold back any longer.
The sweet moan you let out made him sag as his trousers were stained with his cum, bleeding through the fabric while he closed his eyes as little tears lined the edges of them. He was so embarrassed, so relieved, so turned on he didn’t know what to do with himself as his cock kept pulsing, squirting wave after wave of cum sticking to his cock, underwear, and trousers. How embarrassing… How do I ever look you— “You’re so beautiful like this, Sev. All messy and bothered, all flustered and so cute…” you said, again interrupting his thoughts while the last tremor left his body and his cock softened in the mess he’d made — that you’d made of him.
He jerked as your hands landed on his knees, making him open his eyes only to find you between his legs with the most beautiful look of satisfaction, with want and pride in your eyes as you looked up at him. The shame he’d felt a second ago vanished as your hands stroked up along the inside of his thighs with nothing but glazed hunger in those inviting eyes he’d often daydreamed of.
“You did so good, Sev. I’m so proud of you for holding out so long. Such a good boy,” you said with praise and reassurance in your voice that did things to him he couldn’t explain or understand. “I-, I’m a mess,” he said, feeling his heart race as your fingers began undoing the button of his trousers with a smirk as you glanced up at him through your lashes. “Just how I want you,” you whispered with that tone of praise again. “A mess for me, with that sweet look of surrender… Makes all my fantasies of you pale in comparison.”
He felt elated, assured, and wanted when you spoke to him like that. It was wholly new to him, new territory and unknown terrain. It felt good. He felt so good under your hands, viewing, words, and voice. He felt good, and hearing you fantasised about him as he did about you eased a little knot in his stomach.
But then your hands were pulling down his soiled trousers, tugging down the waistband of his underwear until his spent cock became visible and he had to look away from you. Embarrassed by the mess, triggered by the salty smell of his own cum as it wafted up. “Let me clean you up, sweetie,” you said and he jolted. Before he had time to ask what you had meant, your hand grabbed his cock gently and your lips encased the slack member a second later.
The heat of your mouth, the look of your head moving between his legs made his eyes widen and his body erupted in a shocked burning. His heart instantly thundered, his pulse roared in his ears as he watched you lick up his cum, sucking and licking his cock with tender care.
He jerked as your tongue swiped the crown. “Oh, you’re such a good boy,” you praised as he began to harden anew. “Y/n,” he panted as you encircled him again, “p-please,” he protested with need and confusion. He’d never been able to get hard right away after coming before. “Hush, sweetie, let me taste you,” you said softly before he felt the hand you’d had on his thigh disappear.
You moaned around him and he jerked within your mouth, throwing his head back as he stiffened. You began stroking at his root while your tongue teased and swirled around the tip. He tensed as pleasure soared through him in an entirely new way, his last climax still loomed over him.
He looked down at you, feeling hot beyond belief as he watched you suck his cock while pleasuring yourself — all while being between his legs, on your knees yet in control of everything. I’m dreaming, I’m drunk and dreaming, he tried to convince himself but the sensations were too real, too palpable, too perfect for his head to be able to conjure such a dream.
You panted around him, moaning and humming while he watched you work yourself up further. The entire room began spinning around him while his hands squeezed the robe beneath him, the music and sounds of you invading him, the feel of your touch overwhelmingly perfect, the smell of your arousal and his cum mixing and mingling in the air.
His hips jerked as you suckled him. He watched you hollow your cheeks and never before had pleasure erupted so violently within him. He moaned, feeling self-conscious about the way his body was jerking and tensing, how he was burning up and desperate for a second release but terrified he wouldn’t be able to despite how good you made him feel.
You moaned around him, your rhythm faltering while your hand tightened around his root. Your movements turned erratic — hasty and needy. His own breath hissed out between his teeth as he felt his balls draw up. “Come for me,” you moaned around his cock. “Be good for me,” you exhaled before sucking harder. “Please-, please I can’t—” His words were interrupted as you moaned and shook between his legs, climaxing hard while still sucking his cock with vigour.
The sight was beyond his understanding, beyond his brain’s capability to comprehend in its beauty and he came. Hard. Moaning loudly while spurting a single string of cum into your mouth while his lungs nearly froze up at the warmth exploding within him. “So good,” you said while removing your mouth but still gently stroking his cock through the pulsing. “You’re so good, Sev. Such a pretty sight, such a sweetie coming for me twice.”
The praise hit something within him he couldn’t touch, your words made him feel so good he could barely stand the sensation — so at odds with anything and everything he had ever felt. He wanted you to say such words to him again. He wanted to be good for you, make you praise him, make you look at him like you did in that exact moment. Sated and happy. You were so beautiful to him, so perfect, and he wanted to be touched by you over, and over, and over again.
“You’re mine now,” you said with a sweet smile, showing that side of you he’d fallen in love with while watching you from afar. “Y-yours?” he asked as a fresh blush crept over his skin, heating his chest and cheeks. You giggled and reached up to stroke his cheek. “Yes, mine. I want you, Sev.” “Yours…” he said in a quiet murmur, trying the word while you watched him expectantly. But it was hard for him to even imagine that what had just happened had, in fact, actually happened.
“Severus,” you began as you rose up fully on your knees, “I want you. And I know you want me, so I’m going to make you feel good enough to accept that. Okay?” you continued and his eyes widened but he nodded and you smiled that sweet smile he loved seeing your face marked by. Then your lips were pressed against his and he melted under the taste of him and you. He wanted you to make him believe you too, so he’d let you try…

A/N: It’s almost 1 am as I finish writing this, I wrote it in one single sitting right after I got the artist’s permission to write a fic for their art and gosh… This became way longer than I had thought, and bit more “adult” than I’d planned at first but I blame that on me usually writing for older Snape and it’s the middle of the night atm 😂👍 But damn, this was fun and enjoyable to write. I hope you had a good time too, dear reader 🙈😘🖤

Sing for me 🎼💞
Characters: Severus Snape x GN!Professor!Reader, random Slytherin students
Tags/warnings: Christmas themed romance 🎄, bad grammar
Summary: During the preparations for the Yule Ball, you discover that Severus actually can sing...
Author's note: My first romantic fanfic, please be gentle 😳
Special thanks: @severus-snaps for the lovely inspiring chit-chat 💖
"This song is stupid..." Draco mumbled in annoyance, when Severus stopped the rehearsal once again.
"I agree, Mister Malfoy. Perhaps, you should say it to Professor Dumbledore in person? It was his idea, after all," Severus answered in his usual stern tone, clearly being annoyed too.
Children's chorus singing the Christmas Carols for the Yule Ball indeed was Albus' idea. This tradition was quite popular in his youth, so he wanted to recreate it for the next celebration. Though, it was much easier to say than to do...
Severus deeply sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose, standing in front of the young Slytherins. He didn't like this song too. Honestly, he didn't like the grand celebrations overall, preferring to spend the winter evenings quietly in your company, but he had no other choice. At least Severus wasn't teaching the Gryffindors how to dance, like Minerva, and the thought that he wasn't suffering alone somewhat reassured him.
Severus didn't care much about traditions, holyday spirit and other ephemeral nonsense. He considered learning the Christmas Carols with his students as an another working task, no more, no less. And Severus was used to do his work properly and thoroughly.
"One more time... Repeat after me and follow the rhythm. We need the perfect syncing. Understood?" Severus waited until the students' attention got focused on him again, and then began to sing. He didn't know you were standing behind the door and listening...
The results still weren't as perfect as these children's choruses from the old Christmas movies, but more than less acceptable. The rehearsal was over for today, and Severus let the students out. He massaged his temples, feeling tired and a bit frustrated, when you came in.
"Merlin, save me..." Severus thought, seeing your wide smile and your shining eyes. He knew very well what was coming next.
"So, you can sing," you said with barely contained excitement in your voice.
"Shouldn't you work on the decorations right now?" Severus asked in response, hoping to change the topic. It didn't work on you, obviously.
"Would you sing something for me, Severus?" you slightly tilted your head, watching his reaction carefully. Severus knew it wasn't a question, it was a statement. He couldn't say no to you, of course.
"You have a terrible musical tastes," Severus huffed in his signature witty manner.
***
Getting back to home, Severus was exhausted and overwhelmed by the noisy teenagers, his brain felt hard-boiled after the long busy day. You understood his desperate need for silence, so you stayed quiet... expressing your love in other ways than words.
You were peacefully sitting on the couch, when Severus layed down here and rested his head onto your laps, just like a cat silently asking for pets. You got his hint and softly stroked his hair, brushing your fingers through the long black strands. Severus closed his eyes and smiled contentedly, relaxing under your soothing touch.
"Severus..." You spoke to him gently, continuing the stress-relieving scalp massage.
"I remember, love. What do you want me to sing?" Severus responded, recalling your request. He was in the much better mood now, and the idea of him singing didn't look that ridiculous for him anymore.
"Anything from your poetry. At your choice," you asked almost sheepishly. Only you knew about Severus' secret passion, only you he trusted his verses to.
Severus sat up straight and cleared his throat. He didn't need to look in his notebook, he remembered every single line by heart, since he wrote them by his own. After a brief pause to gather his courage, Severus started to chant one of his verses, as if it was a song lyrics.
At first Severus sounded shy and insecure, but the pure love in your mesmerized eyes inspired him to keep singing. As he immersed himself in the rhythm, Severus got more confident, lowering and deepening his velvet baritone voice. There was no need for any background music, Severus' magnificent acapella was more than enough for you.
Severus sung for you, and you felt his raw emotions in every note. It was a love confession in the form of song. The lyrics themselves were amazing, full of colorful metaphors and tender epithets, but being embodied in Severus' voice... It was something above and beyond.
Severus ran out of breath at the few final lines. The lack of experience was evident, though the sincerity of his feelings outshone any flaws in his performance. Severus' heart fluttered in his chest as he looked at your with a hopeful eyes, waiting for your reaction.
Your mind went blank. You were speechless, being unable to formulate any thoughts because of the overwhelming emotions. You just grabbed Severus in your embrace and showered his face in gentle kisses, whispering incoherent yet sweet nothings about how much you loved him.
***
"Severus... Will you sing the Christmas Carols along with your students at the Yule Ball?"
"Of course not."
"But Sevvy... Pretty please..."
"..."
"..."
"...fine. I'll sing, just for you, my most devoted fan. Perhaps, I'll even sign an autograph..."
You planted a tender 'thank you' kiss on his cheek.

Despite being half-baked, this idea has been running around in my head
So, yes, Legilimency needs eye contact and so forth, but I’ve got a soft spot for a Legilimens!Severus Snape and I’m happy to bend magical rules for the sake of silliness. (Alright, I’ve got quite a fondness for Legilimens Eileen Prince, who taught her classmate Tom Riddle a thing or two before, inadvertently, discovering that he knew more about mind magics than he let on and there was quite a dreadful mind under that handsome smiling face. I imagine she left the magical world for more than one reason, but she stayed away so long because she knew that Tom knew that she knew that…)
Well then, although Legilimency is “reading” and Occlumency is “hiding” and those two things are put in opposition, they aren’t exactly two sides of the same coin, are they (or maybe this conceptual coin might have more than two sides)? There is reading another’s self-story and trying to hide one’s self, might there not be a broadcasting of one’s self, a leakage of one’s internal subjective reality into the minds of others? Couldn’t the opposite of Occlumency be like the psychic equivalent of playing a short-form video in public without headphones or driving around in one of those cars with the speakers on the outside that make windows rattle and what not? Maybe it doesn’t have a fancy name like, I suppose, “Narratamency” or “Fabulamency” or some other butchering of Latin. Maybe it gets called “charisma” or “a charming manner” or “magnetic personality” (or “a lot of personality”) or something else indirect and more polite than “you are imposing your subjective reality into other people’s subjective realities”. Maybe it’s considered too Dark to be given a name and any study at all (in such a small society in which reputation and connections and the old school tie matter so much for success, in which asking an older student to do a favor like sticking one’s name in a Goblet is apparently so outlandish that they didn’t bother making some sort of protection against that event, imposing one’s mental concept of the world over someone else’s self-world would really be beyond the pale), maybe it is the foundational practice from which spells like Imperius and Oblivate (which ought to be an Unforgivable, if only it wasn’t so useful for muggle-control) derive. Then you get to having folks who go around with their personal self-story leaking out of them and nudging others into playing supporting roles, getting called “charismatic” or “charming” or “has great leadership potential” etc., Tom Riddles, Gilderoy Lockharts, James Potters, and so forth. Sure, you could take this in a dark and angsty direction, but I like to think that I am rather silly.
And so, as a point to this rambling, a James Potter who has an internal narration that projects like an opera singer enjoying the echos off the Grand Canyon, who constantly tells himself the story of “boy-hero James Potter, who always saves the day and gets the girl and is the coolest bloke on the block” would be the terror and nemesis of any Legilimens within a hundred miles. Legilimens!Severus Snape (who would appreciate a two hundred mile buffer between himself and James Potter) has suffered greatly, has gotten James Potter’s stupid little theme song stuck in his head day after day, has decided that putting his two cents in is worth it even though he’s broke.
James Potter, for his part, does not appreciate the unsolicited concrit on his daydreams.
#Severus Snape#James Potter#It's late and I ought to go to bed but I wanted to play around with the concept a tad bit first

thrill of the night
Ship: Severus Snape x Sirius Black (a/n: I ship them as enemies with benefits)
Word Count: 1586
a/n: holy fuck y'all i've been spinning this concept in the microwave of my brain since i started considering snirius as a ship and i Finally wrote something about it. snape is genderfluid in this fic btw, he just doesn't have the word for it yet, and sirius is bi but he's still registering this whole "severus is kind of hot actually" thing.
Summary: Set post-Hogwarts graduation but pre-death of Lily and James. Sirius discovers Severus has been turning tricks under the guise of being a woman because you don't exactly get paid to be a Death Eater. CWs: Overall sexual themes but no explicit sex or nudity (only because I'm not very confident in writing smut, but if somebody wrote smut inspired by this fic I would cry (positive)), "Snivellus."
It had been a long week for Sirius. Everyone he normally would’ve hung out with seemed to blow him off. Everyone had plans, except for him. So Friday night came, and with it, the frustrations of a lonely, envious young man. Such frustrations led Sirius to the seedier part of muggle London. He never minded being around the non-magical population… sometimes he felt he even preferred it. Still, he couldn’t imagine a life without magic. He’d just left a bar when he spied her. Tall, dark-haired, and glowing in the light of a street lamp. Just by the look of her attire, Sirius knew her profession. She wore a short leather skirt and a tight bra, though her arms and shoulders were hidden beneath a cropped coat; all black. He checked his pockets for cash, then approached, clearing his throat.
“Evening, madam,” he flashed his signature smile. She took a long drag of her cigarette, eyeing Sirius coolly.
“Evening. Are you looking for company?” Her voice was low- low enough to briefly stun Sirius -and she punctuated her question with a suggestive raise of her eyebrow. He nodded.
“I know an inn not far from here,” he gestured down the street. “What do you charge?”
“Thirty pounds, up front, just sex. Fifteen additional for anything… beyond that.”
Sirius frowned. “That’s a bit steep…”
“Take it or leave it. We all have to eat, you know.”
There was something about this woman of the night that intrigued Sirius. He’d done this song and dance before, even charmed his way into discounts. Something told him this one wasn’t the type. “Alright, sweetheart, whatever you say.”
She nodded, causing her bobbed hair to ripple slightly, then dropped her cigarette on the cobblestone and crushed it beneath her heel. Sirius led her to the inn and booked a room. It was only when they were inside that Sirius noticed the pouch tied to the woman’s belt.
“What’s in there?” He asked, curiously indicating it.
“Essentials I need for my job,” she suddenly glared at him as he began to loosen his belt, thrusting forth her hand. “Money first.”
“Right, right, yeah,” he quickly took out his own pouch, grimacing as he observed the contents. He was running low on muggle money. “Er, listen, luv, could I send you some money later? I’m… a bit lighter than expected—”
“Oh, just give it here,” the woman snapped, snatching the pouch from his hands… before retrieving the correct amount in wizarding money. “Are you into any funny stuff?” She kept a guarded hold on the pouch until Sirius answered.
“No! Or, yes, but I… you’re a witch!”
“Don’t act so shocked.” She huffed, handing back the pouch. “Believe me, I am just as surprised to find a wizard here as you are surprised to find me. Now get on the bed.”
Sirius gulped and flushed, a sly smile coming to him. “Isn’t that my line, luv?~”
“Oh, please, as if I’m going to let myself be pushed around by the likes of you.” She untied the pouch from her belt, dropped in the coins, then placed it atop the room’s dresser.
“I guess we’ll see about that,” Sirius purred, stepping closer. Suddenly, their lips clashed in a struggle to dominate the scene. Sirius’ hands snaked around her hips to grab at her rear, while her hands began trailing under his shirt, exploring his body. As heat and passion were shared between them, Sirius couldn’t help the lingering feeling of familiarity. He had never laid eyes on this woman before, nor had he ever had the honour to touch her, so why did it feel as if they had met before? Why was this attitude he encountered like an echo from the past?
Things came to a halt as he tried to remove her jacket. She held him at arm’s length as she quite seriously announced, “The jacket stays on.”
Sirius regarded her in confusion. “Huh? Why’s that?”
The woman scowled. “None of your business.”
That was the expression that flipped a switch in Sirius’ memory. “Hold on, do I know you from somewhere?”
Blink-and-you’ll-miss-it fear dashed across the woman’s face, but even then she couldn’t hide her embarrassed blush. “What are you talking about?” She stepped toward the dresser, ready to grab her pouch, and presumably her wand, at a moment’s notice.
“When you made that face… it reminded me of someone…” As the memories came to him, Sirius’ feelings began to warp. An odd mixture of lust and contempt was brewing inside of him. “In fact, the more I look at you, I’m sure… perhaps we went to school together?”
Steely silence was the woman’s only response. He cleared his throat. “I’m Sirius, I was in Gryffindor at Hogwarts—”
An unexpected fury took hold of the woman’s pronounced features as she regarded him anew. “How could I not see it?” She seethed, holding her hand in a way to block Sirius’ beard from her vision. She retrieved her wand with the other hand. “Sirius Black. So, your bollocks finally dropped low enough to bring your arsehair up to your chin? Or did you get implants?”
This change in demeanour made Sirius’ eyes widen. He knew in an instant who this was. “Snivellus,” he croaked.
“You seriously didn’t recognise me?” Severus rolled his eyes, “Though I suppose dogs aren’t necessarily known for their sense of sight…”
Sirius was too shocked to spark the flames of his deep-seated hatred for the person before him. With a shaking finger, he pointed at Severus’ soft chest. It wasn’t the biggest by any means, but it wasn’t flat, either. “How…? Are… are you a woman, now?”
Severus blinked at his old schoolyard bully. “It’s a transfiguration spell, you twit. And… it’s none of your business.”
Sirius’ brow creased. “I think it is. I might not like you, but I’m going to respect whoever you are, sexuality-wise…”
Severus’ expression became uncomfortable, his eyes darting away from Sirius. “Then, I suppose… I’m not sure anymore. When you do what I’ve done, the line gets a bit… hazy.” He cleared his throat, then waved his wand sophistically over his body, murmuring an incantation that flattened his chest and, presumably, turned his genitals right side out. The clear pain behind Severus’ eyes as this transformation took place further distracted Sirius, who normally would’ve gotten off on such a thing. It seemed that the brief moment where Sirius saw Severus as desirable had struck him dumb.
Awkwardness made his skin prickle, and he rubbed the backs of his hands accordingly. “Why’re you out here, posing as a… woman?”
Severus clucked his tongue. “You can call me a whore. It’s no worse than anything else you’ve ever called me.” He picked up his pouch and made to push by, but was grabbed by the arm, making him freeze as Sirius pointed his wand in his face.
“Don’t think just because I’m acting like I’ve been stupefied I’m just going to let you go,” he growled. “What are you up to?”
Severus’ expression gave him nothing. “What do you think?” What can a Death Eater gain from selling his body?
“You mean for me to believe this isn't some kind of undercover operation?”
A single heartbeat passed before a short honking sound escaped Severus, and it was only by his body language that Sirius realised he was laughing, though it wasn’t necessarily in mirth. The unfamiliar sound and sight made his insides writhe, his face flooded with embarrassment, though he knew not the exact source.
“Of course you’d think this is something to laugh about, you pervert. I can’t believe I even—”
“Me, a pervert?? When you were about to be caught pants down, balls deep in someone you only acknowledged because you could hurt him? Would you rather have found out who I was by the sounds I made when you hit me?” As Severus spoke the final proposition colour bloomed high in his cheeks.
Sirius stared at him, angry and frenzied and pent-up all at once. His wand remained trained on Severus’ face, though he could think of no spells to cast. He glanced down only for a moment and sucked in a quick breath as his vision was graced once more with those leather pleats clinging to the front of Severus’ thighs, hiding little. “Fuuuck…” He growled as he stowed away his wand and absently rubbed at his nose.
Severus quickly composed himself, lowering his voice further, “Let us part ways and forget this ever happened, lest the moment get uglier than it already is. In fact, if it would ease your mind, Black, allow me to Obliviate this specific memory for you and send you on your way.”
“And let you make off with my money like a bandit, Snivellus? Fat chance. I want to get my worth out of this, transfigure yourself again.” Sirius went back to loosening his belt, tongue lecherously swiping his teeth as Severus took his time to flush, the rosiness spreading down from his cheeks to his neck. Sirius fingered his pants button, continuing, “Well, you can either do that, or you can fork over the cash. Your choice, mate.”
Severus’ eyes narrowed at Sirius before he waved his wand and once more went through that tedious process of shifting from one end of the spectrum to the other. “Once again, I am the couch you hump…” He lamented aloud through gritted teeth, “at least I’m getting paid this time.”
Sirius winked. “That’s the spirit, Sevvy.”

DAY THREE - Vampire!Severus Snape
Warnings: NSFW vampire things, darkish themes, breeding kink, praises, mention of punishment, p in v, no mention of protection
@slytherinslut0 I think you might enjoy this one
You were a student at Hogwarts. You were about to turn eighteen you were more than excited. You would be an adult and get to grow up once you left Hogwarts. You wanted to work at a quiet store where you could steal potions that you made. You were quite the master at potions and one of the few Professor Snape was easier on.
You house was hosting a get together for your party and Professor Snape surprised you by allowing it. You were now getting ready for the party with your friends helped. Hermione grinned at you as you showed yourself off in your new dress. It was dark emerald and was a short dress that showed off your body. Pansy helped with your makeup to match with the dress.
You wore some white heels and headed out to the common room. You got yourself a drink and went over to your other friends. Draco only grinned.
"Look at the birthday girl! Already looking in her twenties!" He teased you. You blushed and nodded.
"Well, I have to dress up for my big day ya know?" You boasted and swinged down your fruit punch. You grabbed Harry's hand. "Let's dance!" You said grinning at the male who nodded and led you to the dancing floor. You danced with Harry for a while.
Once it hit midnight it was time to blow out the candles. Everyone sang happy birthday to you, but you couldn't focus on them. You could only look at the tall man in the back staring at you. You had butterflies.
Funny enough your birthday was exactly at midnight. You blinked after they ended the song and blew out the candles and everyone enjoyed the cake. You decided to get another drink and so you did. You danced with all your friends again and you all sang the lyrics loudly to your favorite song.
You went to the bathroom, well started to when you were pulled the opposite way, and someone grabbed your hand taking you to a bedroom. You were confused as you were sat on a desk. It was dark and you couldn't see who it was. Your stomach did the same thing as earlier.
Soon enough the candles came on. You looked at the male and gasped. It was your professor. "Professor!" you said in shock.
He just smirked at you and kept you sat on the desk as he pushed against you closing the distance.
"Right now... I am not your professor mate." He purred into your ear. You flushed bright red and gasped as kissed your neck. You wanted this. You knew you wanted this. He placed his hands on your thighs as the dress rode up. 'You know... watching you dance with your friends got me all jealous. Knowing that you should have been dancing with me..." He whispered. He moved his hands to your shoulder where he started to pull dress sleeves off your shoulders.
"I-I I didn't know my professor wanted me." You said whispering causing him to laugh.
"Of course not. I did not know you were my mate until now." He said and then moved his hands back down to pull your dress up and off you. "Now... shall I still punish you, my darling?" He spoke as he held your chin up with a hand and rubbed your cheek with affection. "You would like that... I know because I know you always had a crush on me and often i was in your mind." He added with a sly smirk. You had wide eyes at this.
He moved his hand to pull your wrists together and muttered a spell it keeps them in place. He stepped back admiring you. He grinned and shown his fangs. He closed it on you and moved his mouth to your neck and started to mark you without warning. You were left moaning and whimpering. It felt so good being marked. You closed your eyes in delight. Your toes curled up and you started to feel yourself getting wet. You needed your professor.
He pulled away causing you to mewl in displeasure. He looked at you and you watched as he licked his lips clean. "Good girl... now let's see if you can handle me." He purred. "You would like that huh? To be used... to be breeded?" He said huskily. You nodded. "Words pet." he added.
"Oh gosh yes Snape." You whined. He chuckled and removed his belt and bants and boxers before stepping in-between your legs. He noticed you had no underwear on.
"Good girl... my my you dirty pet no underwear? So bold." He tsked. He leaned in. "Can I kiss you my darling..." he asked softly.
"Yes Snape."
"Call me Severus when we are alone."
"Yes Severus." You spoke as your voice was like honey to his ears. He kissed you with so much passion and you kissed him back. He slowly entered you letting you get used to his size. He groaned at how tight you were. You stopped kissing you only to slowly move the kisses down your neck before he started to thrust more and harder and bite down your neck.
Both of the sensations sent you on overdrive. You moaned repeatedly and got louder as he thrusted harder and faster. He stopped drinking your blood and licked the wound shut.
"You taste so good and take me so well." He purred into your ear and grinned to himself. He wrapped his arms around your waist and pulled you closer causing you to let out a gasp as he entered you even more from the angle. He whispered praised in your ear as he fucked you hard, fast then slow then fast and hard again.
"I'm going to cum Severus." You moaned.
"Go on, cum pet, cum all over me." He groaned. You came as soon as he said that as you moaned and whimpered through your high. He fucked on slow there your high before cumming as well. "Such a good girl for your mate.... now go on rest... after you wake you will have your punishment." he said as he noticed you were sleepy. You nodded before falling asleep in his arms.

Introducing my OC, Callisto Snape!
Second child of Severus Snape and Ileana Munguia-Snape, Callisto is part of a set of twins. She is the only Slytherin among her siblings, as both her older brother and twin sister are Hufflepuffs, and her younger sister is in Ravenclaw. Despite being in Slytherin, Callisto does not share the values many fellow Slytherins hold. In fact, the sorting hat had seriously considered putting her in Hufflepuff.
Callisto takes after her father in terms of humor and talent. She is fluent in sarcasm and excels in Potions and Defence Against The Dark Arts. Though, unlike her father, Callisto is also the spotry type. She plays Quidditch at school, and has dabbled in parkour outside of school. Callisto doesn't care what others think of her and she is very protective of those she cares about. Though, she prefers to keep her circle small and doesn't like being around people much. When provoked, she is no stranger to getting physical.

I decided to finally read some of the longer fics that I have been putting off starting out with...
Lily's Boy by SomewheresSword
Main Pairing: Harry Potter/Draco Malfoy and Remus Lupin/Severus Snape (I'd say those are the MAIN ones but we gets lots of couples in this one)
Type: Rewrite (starting 3rd year)
Explicitness: They have some spicy scenes but honestly a lot of fade to black and lots of kissing
POV: Alternating but heavy Harry POV
Word Count: 746,386 😮💨
Song:
Here are two since its long and has lots of themes
My Summary:
The summer before Harry's third year changes everything he knew. When Harry finds out that not everything is as it seems and those he trusted were leading him astray, Harry is started on a path of his own. Harry will learn who is truly on his side, find friendship in the most unexpected places, and build a home he never expected.
My Thoughts: (I need to get more organized with this I feel)
Where can I even start? This was so long, but I never felt bored or like I was just rereading cannon. I think the author did an amazing job of keeping things similar and making sense while rewriting things to happen a different way. I feel she added just enough for the plot to make sense with the direction it did go. Plot and writing wise I'd say this is an amazing time, it was a long but easy and fun read.
Characters, there was a lot. I am not a huge fan of villainizing Hermione. I can sometimes see it for Ron; but honestly, I don't like it much either. And in this story, they are both definitely not great people. Every time they did something horrible or something, I was a little upset at the decision to write them this way. For the most part, though, I think I moved past it. I understand that plot wise, it would have been hard to keep them "good." I think everyone else was pretty great and a lot of fun to read.
On a surprising note, I really enjoyed the Remus/Severus pairing in this fic. While of course I love wolfstar and think they are soulmates its fun to read different pairings every now and again, and I really enjoyed the dynamic they had in this fic. I loved how all the relationships were fairly simple sans relationship drama. There was no crazy relationship angst, which is what I was mostly worried about in a fic this long. All the plot drama definitely revolved around Harry and him defeating Voldemort and Dumbledore.
Overall, I'm glad I decided to give this a go, finally, I would say it's a nice long fic if you want something that isn't too dramatic. I'd almost say it's a cozy read, but like the source, there are a lot of death and war themes. I really enjoyed it, and I applaud the author for creating something so big and well written.

back with more for @hprecfest - although i'll be skipping day three because i have the concentration span of a kitten and therefore no chance of making it through a podfic...
day two: favourite comfort fics
two boys kissing by writcraft sirius black/severus snape mature | 6.8k words
why i recommend it:
because I'm a sucker for both sirius and snape getting a happy ending, and this fic delivers this within a beautiful, gentle examination of the horrors of sirius' young adult life and the way that hope and desire are things he clings to during the lonely misery of his confinement in azkaban. the repeated motif of the sky always gets to me:
when he showers, he whistles a song. he’s not sure he knows it’s name, but he can remember strobe lights and the way snape looked when he was as young as sirius can remember him being. that was back in the days when severus tried so hard not to be queer and sirius thought he had everything to live for.
sirius spits out toothpaste into the sink and contemplates himself in the mirror. it looks like there’ll be a thunderstorm tonight. he puts his toothbrush into the glass and moves into the room, poking his head out of the window. the wind has gathered momentum but the sky is clear.
he breathes in the air and watches the stars.
so bracing by @kellychambliss minerva mcgonagall/severus snape teen | 9.2k words
why i recommend it:
because i love to see older woman/younger man relationships in fandom - there's still far too few of them - and because i love to see fics from the perspective of minor characters, and this, which is as much a careful and generous character study of tom the barman (and the town of skegness) as it is of its central couple never fails to make me smile:
tom took the chance of sitting down again, and when he didn't get tossed out on his arse, he felt a little emboldened. "and you thought you wanted this? life in a muggle pub in skegness?"
snape loaded a glass into a dishpan, and then another. and another.
"my family," he said, just when tom had decided that he probably wasn't going to say anything at all. "my family wasn't one for holidays. it was all my father could do to keep food on the table, once the mills failed. and once the drinking started. but before all that, there was one summer -- spring, actually. may. we couldn't afford high summer season. da somehow saw his way clear to taking my mother and me to the seaside. i was about six. we came here. skegness. we froze our arses off."
"skegness is. . . so bracing," tom murmured, and snape snorted.
"in a word. three days in a grotty little caravan. cheap, greasy food. saw a sad muggle magic show." he loaded more glasses with a crash. "i loved it. fucking loved the lot of it. "
never gonna give you up by @laeveteinn harry potter/lord voldemort teen | 15k words
why i recommend it:
because it makes me shriek. i'm not usually a fan of either professor harry or professor voldemort fics, but it turns out that my exception is when they're forced to work together as a team because harry's newly-divorced and adrift in a world which no longer makes sense and voldemort's a ghost who's obsessed with memes:
“what are you thinking so intently about?” voldemort murmurs. “you mustn’t overtax your brain, it wasn’t meant for hard activity.”
harry snorts. “honestly, i’m just trying to figure out where albus got his bad taste in men. it’s not ginny; lars isn’t actually that terrible.”
and for some reason, voldemort lets out a lengthy sigh.
clay by @titconao3 harry potter & severus snape general | 46k words
why i recommend it:
because i have an unstoppable fondness for the concept of redemption, which is hugely and unfairly maligned in this fandom, and this story is an astonishingly beautiful meditation on the theme, not only in how it approaches both snape and harry as they come to terms with the war and what it has taken from them, but in how it portrays tobias snape and his own reckoning with his past and quest to make amends with his son:
tobias was on a roll. “you lot, always talking about your magic, waving your bloody sticks around like it makes you better than us normal people…” he slammed his hands on the table and severus shuddered, his fists opening and closing around nothing. he’d left his wand in the room; it wasn’t like he could use it, and he had to trust potter could deal with tobias snape. the man was nothing, to a boy who’d faced the dark lord and come out the victor. “you’re not. you’re not! your goddamn magic… we’d have been better off without it, i’m telling you.” severus looked again through the crack and saw tobias with his back turned on potter, his shoulders shaking. he was angry, but not yet taking it out on potter. maybe he was scared of potter’s wand; maybe now that he was sober he was better at keeping his violence in check. either way, severus didn’t trust it would last forever. it never had, before.
to forgive divine by jellybeany neville longbottom/draco malfoy teen | 7.4k words
why i recommend it:
because there are days when you need eighth-year fluff, and this sort of fluff is so rarely given to neville as a central character, but it should be:
he’d wondered if it was something like that, to be honest.
because, because. malfoy was always so interested. he’d read in a fortune cookie once that the opposite of love isn’t hate, it's indifference.
which was a rubbish fortune at the time, but it’s relevant now.

Writ, @writcraft, a creator I've long admired! Writer of excellent stories, thinker of excellent thoughts, human of excellent taste! They've written some of my favorite fics, such as How We Were Warriors and The Beating of this Fragile Heart. Oh and not to forget A Lion's Heart! (Not me sneakily sneaking in extra recs for you all.) (As if this list isn't stupidly long to begin with hahaha.) In fairness, I did strive to choose works I think need more attention and hype! Ones I love dearly that I need others to chat with about! Plenty of people know the above fics...it's the below fics I need to scream about!
But before we get there...Well, Writ is more than just a fabulous writer. They've modded many a fest and event over the years. In fact, you can check out their Fanlore page for more information about those! Not to mention their fantastic meta works (which...oh heck I'm gonna add some of those to the list too.) The point is, they've been in fandom for a very long time, and they've done so much for fandom in that time. The community is so important to them, and it shows. They are so dedicated and supportive. Even now, they manage so much in spite of how busy real life has kept them! They still care so deeply and it shows.
Thanks for being here, Writ. Thank you for all that you do for fandom. And for being so kind to me (even if I'm chatting your ear off! 😂)

5, 6, 15, 22 (Snape, obviously :p)
5. What's the first song that comes to mind when you think about them?
Childhood by The Rose it’s one of My fave songs recently and it’s just heartbreaking to think of Severus in the context of never having HAD a childhood. A very close second is pretty much the entirety of Orchestra of Wolves by Gallows by virtue of its just a very… angry but straightforward album.
6. What's something you have in common with this character?
We are both angry little men with daddy issues and manipulation is in our blood, are an INFJ, made baaaaf choices in life, and get far too little sleep in the name of working of doing shit for other people. I headcanon Severus as being autistic too so, we are twins.
15. What's your favorite ship for this character? (Doesn't matter if it's canon or not.)
Currently, Snupin Snucius and Snack. They’re just fun to explore but I’ve got a small love for Jeverus for the same reason, though I haven’t played with it nearly as much.
22. If you're a fic reader, what's something you like in fics when it comes to ths character? Something you don't like?
I deeply love fics where Severus is a touch starved little trollop. Someone that NEEDS touch something fierce that blooms under it and is incapable of asking for it at all ever. I also love ones where he has A Vice that isn’t drinking but nearly as bad. My fave is when he smokes like a damn train but only herbals (one of the themes to a fic im working on hehe) or he is heavily into BDSM and it’s unhealthy at first until he is taken care of properly (another theme to another fic I’m working on)
Ask game! Thanks for playing with me!

Keeping the Faith part 2
title from billy joel's 'keeping the faith'
also posted on ao3
Part 1 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 |
-
“Hey, Lupin, you looked good out there this morning!” Caradoc Dearborn called from across the hallway. “We got this season in the bag.”
The boy in question was standing at his locker gathering textbooks but looked up at the mention of his name. “I was just throwing some balls around, Dearborn.”
Caradoc’s face split in a grin. “Exactly, Wolfman! You didn’t miss a single shot, not even when Coach started blocking you. You’re gonna win this season for us!”
Remus blushed. “I don’t know about that.”
Fortunately, that’s when James, Sirius, Marlene, and Lily finally turned up. Remus had long ago stopped wondering where Peter went during the school day.
James said, “Moons! Just the man I wanted to see.” He pointed to Sirius. “Tell this idiot ‘Welcome to Duloc’ from Shrek is better than ‘Fearless Hero’ from Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.”
Remus raised an eyebrow at Lily and Marlene who gave him pleading eyes. “They did this the whole ride here,” Lily said.
“She says, as if she didn’t argue the whole way here on the wrong side,” Sirius said.
She grabbed a lock of red hair. “You’re just too stubborn to see that we’re right,” she responded, crossing her arms.
Sirius put his hands on his hips. “Marlene disagrees with you.”
Marlene glanced up from her phone as they all looked at her. “I honestly don’t care,” the blond said. “I just wanted to argue with James.”
“Well, good for you, because he’s wrong,” Sirius said. “‘Fearless Hero’ is deep and it’s not sung by children.”
James whipped his head around and stared at Sirius. “Just because the Duloc song is sung by children doesn’t make it bad! It adds an air of innocence to Shrek that Puss in Boots lacks.”
Lily looked at Remus again, desperate. “Do something,” she begged.
Remus glanced between James, trying to gauge how important this argument was to him. He raised his voice, making sure he was audible on Sirius’ bad side. “Sirius is right.”
“Ha! I knew it!” Sirius said. “Thank you, Moony, you’re clearly a man of taste.”
James threw his hands up in the air. “No taste, or culture, either of you,” he declared. “Shrek is a fundamental film that teaches people they don’t have to be pretty or normal to be loved, and the Duloc song is a metaphor for the dangers of conformity. Plus, Shrek is way better than Puss in Boots.”
Remus turned to him. “But it doesn’t matter how good the movie is; you’re arguing about the song.” James opened his mouth, but Remus held up a hand. “It’s true that Shrek is better and more fundamental, but the Duloc song is just a short introduction to Duloc itself which is the actual metaphor for conformity. The song is only part of the overall symbolism. Meanwhile, ‘Fearless Hero’ is a recurring motif that at first represents Puss’ hubris, then becomes a symbol for everything he’s actually afraid of which pushes the theme bravery isn’t the absence of fear but the pushing on in spite of it.” Something he knew dearly.
The others gaped for a moment until Marlene said, “Sorry, James, I can’t argue with that. I’m going to class.” She turned on her heel and walked away.
Sirius smirked. “What do you think now, Mr. Duloc?”
James set his jaw. “I stand with Shrek.”
Sirius rolled his eyes. “Stubborn.”
The warning bell rang, signaling an end to their riveting conversation.
As they all turned to go to their first hours, Remus happened to catch a glimpse of Severus Snape hurriedly turning away from Remus and his friends, as if he had been eavesdropping.
Well, Remus thought, I hope he enjoyed our detailed analyses of childrens’ movies.

Marlene glided into her first hour, immediately making a beeline for her usual desk by the window. She smiled when she saw the seat behind hers was already occupied by its usual patron.
Sitting backwards in the chair, she softly whispered, “Hey, babe,” in the most seductive voice she could muster.
It had the desired effect. Dorcas jumped about a foot in the air, and her book slammed shut. “What the hell, Marlene?”
“Hi!” she said brightly.
Dorcas wasn’t having it. "You made me lose my page," she complained.
"Such is the price of love," Marlene said. Then, just because Dorcas looked so sad, she added, "You're on page 232."
Dorcas smiled. "Now I'll say 'hello'." God, she was amazing. Marlene still couldn’t believe how lucky she was.
If anyone had told her six months ago that she would end up in a secret relationship with Dorcas Meadowes, she would've laughed in their face. See, Marlene and Dorcas were not exactly a classic match. Marlene was an athlete, a senior, and a psychic. Dorcas was a nerd, a junior, and definitely not a psychic. They were also each friends with a different Black brother, and that was not a gap either girl was willing to bridge. However, when Marlene had crashed into the library one August morning frantically looking for a book on STDs (not for her; she was trying to win an argument with Remus, but it turned out she was wrong), they had had a hard time forgetting each other. A week later, Marlene returned her book along with a piece of paper she had scrawled her phone number on. They've been together since.
"What are you reading?" asked Marlene.
"Red, White, and Royal Blue," Dorcas answered. Quickly, she put her bookmark in page 232.
"I think I've seen Remus with that one," Marlene noted.
"Probably, it's pretty popular." She looked up and cringed. "Incoming."
Marlene turned her head to see none other than Severus Snape walking toward them. "What do you want, asshole?" she asked him, already turning her head away. While she didn't used to hate the boy (at least not as much), she certainly never liked him, and after what he'd done to Lily, she couldn't very well be nice to him.
His face twitched. "You know exactly what I want," he said, eyes hard.
"Well, you can forget it," Marlene told him. "I'd rather have my eyes clawed out by your weirdly long nails than let you talk to Lily." She smirked when he hid his hands behind his back.
"I'd think you'd be more averse to people knowing about your relationship," he said smugly. Well, fuck.
Before Marlene could yell at him, Dorcas said, "What are you talking about, Severus?"
“If you don’t get Lily to talk to me, I’ll tell everyone you’re dating,” he said.
Dorcas didn't bat an eye. “We’re not dating.”
He frowned, probably not expecting pushback. "Yes, you are."
Dorcas’ eyes flashed. "No, we're not."
He huffed. “I have proof!” he said finally, pulling his phone out of his front pocket.
Marlene stiffened, her already terrible opinion of the boy in front of her plummeting, because, seriously, what the fuck? He had fucking proof? What, had he been stalking them? Was that the level he was stooping to now?
Apparently, because when he turned his phone around, it was to reveal a grainy picture of Marlene and Dorcas kissing behind the practice field.
Marlene couldn’t hold herself back any longer. “What the hell is wrong with you?” she exclaimed, disgusted and a little bit scared.
“That’s what I thought you’d say.” He got that smug look back on his face. “And, because I’m so nice, I’ll also throw in some interesting information about the Death Eaters that involves your friend Sirius,” he said, contempt dripping from just the mention of Sirius’ name.
And, okay, that one wasn’t so tempting because Sirius’ business was Sirius’ business, but, stalking? For blackmail? Really??
Of course, that’s when Professor Sprout walked into the classroom with a cheery, “Good morning! Everyone, put your phones away.” Everyone continued to stare at their phones.
“You have until the end of school to decide,” Snape said and walked away to his desk.
Marlene ground her teeth and turned to Dorcas, meeting her fear-filled brown eyes with her own wide blue ones. “What are we going to do?” she asked, panicking.
Dorcas took a deep breath, visibly calming herself. “Okay.” She took another breath. “Okay, here’s what we’re going to do.” Marlene waited a few seconds for her to finish her thought, but it quickly became apparent she was waiting in vain.
Marlene felt her face twitch. “Yeah, babe, let’s try that!”
“I don’t see you coming up with any brilliant ideas!” Dorcas whispered harshly.
“You’re not either!” she hissed back.
Suddenly, they were left blinking as the room was plunged into near darkness. “Alright, we’re going to watch a movie today.” They all cheered, and, failing to shush them, Sprout waited patiently for them to be done. “I really think you’ll like this one! It’s a documentary on Charles Darwin!” Several people - including Marlene - discreetly took their phones back out.
Marlene hastily shot a text off to Dorcas, though whether she would actually look at it or not was honestly up in the air. She was about as likely to play on her phone during a mandatory documentary as she was to actually watch it, the nerd. Marlene loved her so much.
Anyway, she needn’t have worried. About 30 seconds after she sent the text, her phone lit up with a new text from Dorcas.
Marlene: cas
Dorcas: i have a plan
Marlene: let’s hear it
Marlene heard a rustle and glanced up. She relaxed, relieved to see it was only Sprout pulling out her own phone. Free hour, wooooooooh. Or so the kids say.
She looked back down.
Dorcas: i think we should tell everybody we’re dating
Marlene choked.
Marlene: what
Marlene: you wanna what
Dorcas: it’s not that i want to, it’s just that if we tell them, he has nothing
Dorcas: i mean, how big a deal is it actually?
Marlene: it’s a big deal! sirius will kill me! regulus will kill you! then we’ll be separated, you in heaven, me in hell!
Dorcas: why would you be in hell??
Marlene: i don’t want to talk about it
Dorcas: alrighty then
Dorcas: i really think we should tell them
Marlene: there’s gotta be another option
Dorcas: not that we can figure out in six hours
Dorcas: listen, it’s been two months now, we’re going strong, and our friends love us (and aren’t maniacs). they might be a little mad, but they’ll get over it, and then snape will have nothing
Dorcas: also we have to do it at lunch because i have academic team and you have football tonight
Dorcas: and it has to be separately because i do not trust reg and sirius at the same table
Marlene: fine
Marlene: but when they hate us and we have to escape to the seaside to live out our lesbian cottagecore life, just know, it was your fault
Dorcas: noted
Dorcas: now stop texting me, i wanna watch the movie
Marlene smiled at her girlfriend’s words, somehow reassured. Because if Dorcas could be calm about this, then surely it would be ok.
She hoped that sounded better out loud than it did in her head.

When Remus walked into third hour AP English Lit, it was to see that James and Sirius were already there, sitting at their usual table and whispering harshly to each other.
They were so engrossed in their conversation that they didn’t notice Remus walking toward them until he pulled a chair out, and its legs scraped the ground. Sirius’ head shot up, but James hurriedly finished his sentence, talking a bit louder since he was now facing Sirius’ bad ear. “I just want you to think about it.”
Remus looked at them. “What are we thinking about?” he asked, sitting down.
“Nothing,” Sirius said quickly, ignoring James. “How was-” he hesitated “-anatomy?”
Remus looked at him, slightly concerned. “We have anatomy together, Pads.” He paused. “In seventh hour.”
James snorted, and Sirius continued to ignore him. “Spanish?” he guessed.
“Nope.”
“Calc?”
“Try again.”
“APUSH?”
“Pads, you have both of those with me.”
“Stop laughing at me, James! Creative writing.”
“There you go!” Remus said, though he thought it odd that Sirius had managed to guess his classes in exact backwards order, leaving out study hall and the class they were currently in. “It was fine, to answer your question.”
Just then, Lily sat down. “Hello, boys!” she said cheerfully. “I sense sexual tension,” she singsonged.
James fucking giggled. “You’d be right,” he said.
“She is not!” Remus said at the same time Sirius said, “Fuck off, loser!”
Thankfully, that’s when Marlene finally walked in. Shockingly, the college level literature class wasn’t very popular at their school, so third hour was the only one available. Their little group made up about a fourth of the overall class. This was also true in AP Calculus and AP US History, except there were even less people in those classes. “Hey, Marls,” Lily greeted.
She muttered unintelligible, and they all glanced at each other, their expressions all some variation of the fuck? James spoke up. “Everything alright?”
She stiffened, as if just realizing where she was. “Yeah, um, I just,” she took a breath, gathering her thoughts. “I need to tell you guys something at lunch.”
They looked at each other again. That didn’t sound good. This time, Lily asked, “Is it…bad?”
She smiled sadly and looked blankly across the room, around the table where Dorcas Meadowes, Emmeline Vance, and Mary MacDonald were sitting. “I guess we’ll see.”
Before they could ask anymore questions, Professor McGonagall called them all to attention. Now there was a teacher they listened to.
“Good morning, class.” She waited a moment until they said it back. “Before we get started, I want to talk about a new assignment.” Remus shifted in his seat, already preparing for several sleepless nights. Lit homework was no joke, especially on his schedule.
McGonagall continued, her tight brown bun bobbing on her head. “It will be a partner presentation over theme.” She waited for them to be done looking at each other as everyone automatically turned to their friends. Remus was lucky, in this regard. He and Lily had been teaming up for group projects since kindergarten.
“You may choose your partner, and you may choose any work of fiction to analyze. Any questions?” A dozen hands shot up. “Yes, any work of fiction means movies, TV, music, poetry, video games, even a TV commercial, though I do not recommend that route. Yes, Mr. Lupin?”
“When is it due?” he asked. He wasn’t particularly worried about the actual project as it seemed pretty tame compared to what they normally did in this class, but if the presentation was due in two days, it didn’t matter how difficult it was.
“Two weeks.” He nodded and wrote down the due date. “Is that all?” When no one raised their hands, she said, “The rest of today’s class time will be used to decide your partners and give you a head start on your project. Once you’ve gotten your partners and chosen your work of fiction, come tell me and take a rubric.” She turned to go back to her desk, but paused. “Oh, and it is first come, first serve, so no duplicate topics.”
Before she had even sat down, James turned to Sirius, a look of pure, frenzied excitement in his eyes. However, he was cut off by Sirius, who said, “No, James, absolutely not.”
James wasn’t deterred in the slightest. “Shrek!”
Sirius shook his head. “No, we are not doing our presentation over Shrek,” he said tiredly. “I have done enough projects over Shrek with you.”
Remus and Lily just looked at each other, both trying not to laugh. Sirius was right, though. The two of them had done many projects on the movie over the years, and Remus had been roped into several of them.
“Here’s an idea,” Lily interjected. “How about we revisit this morning’s argument? James and I can do Shrek, and you two can do the second Puss in Boots?” she proposed. “Whoever gets the better grade wins.”
James’ eyes were wide at the prospect of Lily willingly spending alone time with him. Though the two had made up over a year ago, Lily still mostly stuck to Remus or Marlene, and James by consequence generally hung out with Sirius, Peter, and Remus. James wisely didn’t comment on it, though his eyes were gleaming behind his glasses.
Remus turned to Sirius, who shrugged. “I’m okay with it if you’re okay with it.”
James clapped his hands. “Awesome! We’re going to crush you.”
Sirius scoffed. “Please. Didn’t you hear Moony’s speech this morning? You’re going down.”
As they all stood to claim their topics with Professor McGonagall, Remus looked around, trying to make sure Marlene had found a partner. He wasn’t all that worried. She was friendly with almost everyone in their class, except Snape and maybe Dorcas Meadowes, the junior who was friends with Sirius’ estranged little brother.
Except, when he finally found her, she was sitting right next to Dorcas. Huh.
-
One hour later, the five of them were sitting at their usual lunch table in the back corner of the cafeteria, Sirius in between James and Remus and Lily and Marlene opposite them at the circular table.
Sirius chewed slowly. He’d been wondering what could have possibly happened to Marlene between getting to school and third hour but had come up with nothing. The best he could figure was a bad grade, but that wouldn’t have made Marlene catatonic like this or require a meeting. Whatever it was had to be big.
They’d been sitting in relative silence for about ten minutes, only broken up by the occasional comment or chewing noise. Finally, Lily looked at the blond. “You said you have news?” she asked nervously, stroking a lock of red hair.
Marlene winced. “Indeed.” She blew out a breath. “I’m dating someone.”
They all perked up, and Remus made a noise of understanding. Sirius glanced at him, a question in his eyes, but the tawny haired boy shook his head, curls bouncing.
“That’s great, Marls,” Lily said excitedly. “Who is it?”
James waved his fork. “Wait, I’m confused,” he said. “Why all the dramatics? Is it someone we don’t like?”
Marlene’s face screwed up in a grimace. “It’s Dorcas Meadowes.”
Sirius’ blood went cold. He must have heard her wrong, must have turned his bad ear toward her at the wrong moment, because Dorcas was best friends with Regulus, and if Marlene was dating Dorcas, then Sirius was only one degree of separation away from the worst part of his life. Somehow, he managed to stutter out a question. “The-the one who’s f-friends with-”
She nodded. “That’s the one.” Next to him, James’ eyes were wide, and Lily’s jaw had dropped. Remus was the only one who didn’t look shocked.
Lily cleared her throat. “So how did this happen?” Sirius didn’t hear Marlene’s response, having zoned out completely. He was vaguely aware of James and Remus sending him looks of concern, but he couldn’t think of anything besides Regulus Regulus Regulus.
His brother hadn’t left Sirius’ mind a single time since he had run away over a year ago, nor had the guilt he felt at leaving Regulus alone with their parents. No matter how many times he told himself he’d had no other choice, that he would have died or Walburga and Orion would have literally thrown him out on his ass if he’d stayed even a day longer, he couldn’t stop himself from thinking about his baby brother, defenseless in the face of their parents. Nothing chased the guilt away, not even thinking of the two hazy weeks he’d spent in the hospital following his disownment or having to ask someone to repeat something because they’d been talking into his bad ear. More often than not, he’d wake in the middle of the night, soaked with sweat, shaking from nightmares built from years of abuse.
It was enough to drive a person insane.
Unhearing what the others were saying, Sirius forcefully dragged himself back to reality just enough to ask the question that had been on his mind for what felt like forever. “Do you know if Regulus is okay?” he asked, barely breathing.
The table went quiet again, but Sirius was laser-focused on Marlene. Her expression softened. “The only thing Dorcas would tell me is that he doesn’t blame you for what happened, and that she doesn’t think they’re hurting him,” she said, as gently as possible.
His breath rushed out of him all at once, not relieved in the slightest. He closed his eyes, suddenly consumed by the thought of Regulus lying, lying to his friends to hide his pain, the way Sirius had for 14 years-
A warm squeeze on his hand pulled him abruptly back into his body, and he looked down at the seat where his fingers were resting on the curved bench. There was another, much larger hand encompassing his, squeezing it, rubbing his wrist with the thumb, and he followed the arm with his eyes, up the broad shoulder, then the scarred, tan neck, two pink lips, a small, freckled nose, until he was looking into the amber eyes of Remus Lupin.
As his ears started working again, Sirius became aware of his ragged breathing and Remus’ gentle murmurs of, “Breathe, Sirius.” And - he tried, he really did, but-
“What if she’s wrong?” he choked out, barely understandable to his own ears.
Thankfully, Remus got the gist of it. “Dorcas is smart, and she knows your brother well. She wouldn’t say he’s fine if she wasn’t sure.”
“B-but-” he stuttered, unable to force anymore words out.
Remus squeezed his hand harder. “Breathe.” He turned. “Here,” he said, putting something cold in Sirius’ other hand. “Careful, I already opened it.”
Sirius looked down on his other side, trying to figure out what ‘it’ was; it turned out to be an uncapped water bottle, filled all the way up with cold, clear liquid. He slowly raised it to his dry lips and took a sip.
It tasted amazing. He quickly gulped down the rest of it, only stopping once it was empty.
He whined when Remus took the bottle from him. “It’s all gone, Pads,” he chuckled. “Better?” Sirius nodded, cheeks flushed with embarrassment at having a panic attack in the middle of the school cafeteria. Nevertheless, Remus smiled. “Good.”
Sirius turned his head, not wanting Remus to see how much darker red his face was getting at receiving Remus’ approval. On the other side of the table, James was teasing Marlene about how smitten she was while Lily chimed in. Sirius smiled, recognizing it for the distraction it was. He would have to thank James and Remus later.
Then, seeing Sirius was back to normal, if a bit shaky, James asked Marlene, “So, why tell us now?”
Marlene’s face fell, and she gulped. “Snape. He came up to Dorcas and me in bio and basically said if we didn’t help him get with Lily, he would out us to the school. We decided we’d rather just tell people than let him hold this over us.” That made sense. Marlene had been publicly out for years, so the biggest news for everybody else would be that she was dating a nerdy underclassman. Sirius didn’t know enough about Dorcas to confidently say how much she would be affected. Then, quieter, she said, “He had pictures.”
“He had what?” Lily exclaimed. Then, not waiting for an answer, she stood up, crossed the lunch room to Snape’s table, snatched his phone out of his hand, and announced loudly enough that Sirius could hear her from across the room, “You’ll get this back when you learn to use it properly.”
She traipsed back their table, a smug look on her face.
Remus frowned. “Aren’t you afraid he’ll to tell Dumbledore?” The man behind the school, Dumbledore served as principal and thus presided over punishments. However, he was also rumored to be slightly insane, and it was really a matter of chance whether he would actually issue punishment for a stolen phone or just send Lily off with a, “Congratulations on tricking your classmate, Miss Evans.”
Lily scoffed. “Please. Severus is so sexist, he’ll never admit to having his phone stolen by a girl.” She then did something on the phone that Sirius couldn’t see, but whatever it was must’ve been successful because she lit up. “Ha! I guessed his passcode on the first try.”
“What was it?” James snickered.
“My birthday,” Lily said judgmentally. “That boy has got to get over me.”
“Yeah,” agreed Sirius. “That’s pretty pathetic.” He ignored the knowing look James sent his way.
Finally, their disastrous lunch period came to a close when the bell rang.
“Oh! One more thing,” Marlene said before they could leave. “Snape also said he knew something about Sirius and the Death Eaters, but wouldn’t tell us anything else if we didn’t take the deal.” She turned to Sirius. “Do you know anything about that?”
He shook his head. “No idea,” he lied.
-
Rain pelted the walkway as Lily and Marlene ran up the steps of 300 Fox Way. The sudden downpour had caused football practice to be canceled, so James and Sirius had dropped Lily and Marlene off in the Pig before heading back to the school to bother Remus during open gym. Well, officially, they were there for moral support and basketball, but Lily knew the truth.
As soon as they stepped inside, Lily’s mother came barrelling through the foyer. “Petunia just called, said she needs my help with wedding stuff right this second, and I’m already late. There’s a guy coming for a palm and tarot reading, can you handle it?”
“Sure-”
“Thanks, bye!” And with that, she left.
Lily and Marlene just stood there until Marlene finally said, “Alright, I’ll get the room ready-”
“Oh my god.” Lily felt more than saw Marlene’s head whipped around, panicking at the tension in her voice.
“What, what is it?” Marlene asked.
Lily just pointed. There, on the steps of the building, stood Abraxas Malfoy.
“Oh god, what do we do?” Marlene asked frantically. He knocked. “Fuck!”
“That can’t be the guy mom meant,” Lily whispered frantically. “He’s evil!” Why would Malfoy come here, of all places, when he was trying to shut down their restaurant?
Marlene shrugged, eyes wide. “Don’t you think I know that?” She put a hand on her forehead, fingers tangling in her hair. “Maybe he’s just trying a new tactic?” she guessed.
He knocked again. “Hello? Are you still open?”
“Oh god oh god oh god,” Lily muttered, head in her hands.
Marlene opened the door. “Hello, and welcome to 300 Fox Way Psyche. My Aunt says you’re here for a tarot and palm reading?”
“Yes, and-oh,” he stopped, catching sight of Lily. “I didn’t realize you worked here.” He sniffed. “No matter. I am indeed here for a tarot and palm reading.”
Lily stayed silent, not trusting herself to speak. Thankfully, Marlene continued to take the lead. “Alright, we’ll be just in here. Now, give us just a minute to prepare everything.” She deposited him in the reading room and turned back to Lily.
“I need you to do the tarot reading,” she whispered.
“Why?” Lily looked at her quizzically. Marlene usually wanted to deal with tarot readings because she was particularly prone to visions via touch, so it was very strange that she was wanting to do a palm reading.
Marlene wrung her hands. “I just have a feeling there’s something important I need to See.”
Lily nodded. “Okay, I’ll do the cards.”
As they walked into the reading room, Lily made sure to grab a deck of cards from one of the shelves lining the red walls. She sat down across from Abraxas at the far end of the long, wood table.
“Shuffle these please,” Lily said and handed the cards to Abraxas. She hoped he didn’t notice that she could barely look at him.
Once the cards had been shuffled, Lily spread them out in a neat line. “Pick a card.”
“How do I know which card to pick?” he asked, eyebrows pinched together.
Lily resisted the urge to tell him to screw himself. “Just choose the one you feel most drawn to. It might have a warm or cold feeling.”
Slowly, he roved a hand over the cards, eventually landing on one in the middle right.
Lily flipped the card over to reveal an upside down blindfolded woman holding two crossed swords. Reversed Two of Aces.
“What does that mean?” Malfoy asked.
Lily sighed. “You’re facing a difficult decision, and neither path is particularly enticing. You feel you don’t have enough information to make a decent decision, or maybe there’s too much information. You need to take a step back and look at the situation from another angle. You may also need to reassess whether this decision is even yours to make.”
Malfoy’s face had gone red. Clearly, the Ace of Swords had struck a chord with him. “Do I choose another?” he asked.
She nodded. The next card he flipped over was an upside down woman between two pillars with a moon in the bottom right corner. “The Reversed High Priestess represents self doubt. It is best to take some time for yourself, and it may help to get in touch with your feminine side.” It gave her great joy to say that to a man like Abraxas, and, based on the snort she heard from Marlene, her cousin felt the same way. Abraxas’ face was red again.
“Take another,” she ordered.
He made a face, but did as she said. The final card he chose was a man holding a scepter and a circle with a star in it. He was surrounded by grapes and vines in front of a castle. This one was also upside down. “This is the Reversed King of Pentacles. He represents incredible wealth, so much you don’t know what to do with it. You would do anything for money, even ruin relationships. You’re a condescending dickface, but you’re not above kissing your boss’ ass. If you don’t learn to let go, you can say goodbye to everything you love.” She tried and failed to suppress a grin.
“And that’s your tarot reading,” Marlene said, stopping Lily from making any more unsavory comments. “Now, if you would give me your left hand.” He stuck out his hand, and Marlene grabbed it, forcing it open, palm up. “See this?” She pointed to the top of his palm. “This is the heart line.” She gave a minute shake of the head. “So yours is very-straight-and short,” she said choppily. It wouldn’t be long now. “That signifies-” and then she just stopped and stared off into space. The vision had started.
“Alright Mr. Malfoy, I’ll be doing the rest of your reading,” Lily said brightly, taking his hand.
He hesitated. “I don’t understand. What’s going on?”
She grinned. “Oh, Marlene is just having a vision. She’ll be back with us in a few minutes.”
Malfoy tore his hand away and stood quickly. “I didn’t pay for that!” he protested. “Make her stop! I don’t want you people in my head!”
“I’m sorry, Mr. Malfoy. There’s no way to stop a vision once it starts,” Lily said calmly. Oh, how she was enjoying seeing him squirm. Maybe now he would think twice about his son’s impending marriage and his questionable business practices. She doubted it, but the thought was nice.
“But I didn’t pay for that!” he exclaimed. It really all came down to money with this one, didn’t it?
She smirked. “Think of it as a bonus. Now, if you still want that palm reading-”
“No!” he interrupted. “No, I don’t want anything else from you.” He had almost made it to the door when Marlene tore back to the present.
“Leylines!” she gasped. Malfoy came to an abrupt stop. “Leylines, it all has to do with leylines.” She looked up at him. “That’s why he’s in Henrietta. He wants the leylines.”
Lily caught one last look of panic and fear on Malfoy’s face before he threw open the door and ran.
She looked at Marlene. “What the hell are leylines?”
Marlene shrugged. “Fuck if I know.”
-
Back in Monmouth, Sirius Black was sitting cross legged on the floor of his bedroom, just breathing. He had been in this position for nearly a half hour now. He hadn’t tried this in years, and he was pretty rusty.
He flopped onto his back and stretched his legs. How exactly had he done this before he stopped, locked it away inside his mind like a beast that couldn’t be tamed?
He took another deep breath and concentrated. Where are you?
Then, suddenly, as if he had just flipped a switch, everything around him melted away.
No, that wasn’t right.
He was everywhere, all at once. He was in his bedroom, laying on the floor. He was in the main room, watching James do homework. He was in the kitchen, watching Peter eat cheese. He was at 300 Fox Way, watching Lily and Marlene help Liam make dinner for their family. He was in Remus’ double-wide, watching the love of his life sort through bills he didn’t have the money for.
Finally, he was at Number 12 Grimmauld Place, watching his brother, for the first time in months, just…do things. He was doing homework. Then he was talking to Kreacher. He was sitting down to dinner with their parents, calm as could be. He was - looking at the tapestry of the Black family tree, paying particular attention to the burn mark next to his own name.
Sirius tore his gaze away from that scarred piece of fabric to study his brother. He seemed unharmed, though it was a tad hard to tell through the tears in his eyes.
He was glad to see, though, that he was missing the telltale mark of every other member of the Black family: a manic gleam in some lights, deadened in others. Regulus’ eyes looked perfectly sane and - alive.
Sirius let out a breath he’d been holding since the night he ran away. His brother was alive, and he was okay.
He barely felt himself sink back into his body until there were tears streaming down his face. He rubbed his eyes.
It felt good to cry.
-
A few hours later, at Number 12 Grimmauld Place, Regulus Black lay in his bed, thinking about what Dorcas Meadows had told him at lunch.
She was dating one of his brother's best friends. It had been two months, and they were in love.
Regulus wasn't sure how he felt about it. On one hand, he was happy for his friend. She deserved a loving, passionate girlfriend like Marlene.
On the other hand, he couldn't believe how close he was to his brother. Separated by over a year, their parents, and a truckload of difficult emotions, it was hard for Regulus to believe he was just a couple of texts away from Sirius .
That afternoon's conversation proved it was possible. If Marlene and Dorcas could do it, then so could Sirius and Regulus (but not in a romantic way; this was Virginia, not Alabama).
Logically, he knew Sirius would never take that first step toward repairing their fractured relationship. His guilt wouldn’t allow him to reach out because he probably thought Regulus hated him. He’d force himself to wait until Regulus came to him. Nonetheless, the younger Black still wished Sirius would go first, just like when they were younger.
He snorted to himself. Since when was he in the business of lying to himself for comfort? (Forever, but that was besides the point.)
He dug his phone out of his mattress and sent a text to Dorcas asking for Sirius' number from Marlene.
A few minutes later, his phone lit up. It was Dorcas with the number and a wish of good luck.
Quickly, before he could change his mind, he tapped out a text.
Finger hovering over the 'send' button, he hesitated. This was it. If he did this, there was no going back. His life would be changed forever.
He pressed it.
Not even a moment later, he received a text back.
I miss you too.
