Muppet casting good omens: Part 1?
This may be controversial guys...
Aziraphale: Kermit. I think Kermit's tendency to be constantly polite and how he mostly takes the moral high ground fits Aziraphale well.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Crowley: Miss Piggy. They're both silly and goofy and kinda pieces of shit but we love them for it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Adam: The token human. Idk i just think the anti-christ being the only human there would be hilariously ironic
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Newt: Walter. I genuinely don't remember anything about what Walter is like, but Newt feels like a muppet of a man and Walter is a very manly muppet so-
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shadwell: Split the character into Statler and Waldorf. Do I even need to explain this one?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I know this is a kinda random bunch of characters, but they were the ones I found easiest to match lmao.

Hi lovelies! I was wondering if y’all had any fics set in the Old West?
I saw some fanart with this concept and now I feel like I desperately need it in my bookmarks if there are some out there lol
Hello. We have some fics here, and here are more to add...
Seduction Accomplished by cassieoh_draws, HolyCatsAndRabbits (E)
In all the presentations Crowley had seen of Aziraphale in the last 6000 years, she’d never looked quite like this. Aziraphale wore a little makeup on her face, a corset around her waist, lace above her bust and on her arms— and on her legs there was practically nothing at all. Her blond curls were piled high on her head, with a few light wisps dancing around her face. Aziraphale’s corporation always had soft, generous curves. Crowley wasn’t sure he’d ever been able to view every single one of them on display all at once. Crowley managed to say, “Hello.” He was rather proud of that.
Tumbleweeds and a Spot of Strip Poker by ElysiumLeo (M)
Anthony "Snake Eyes Tony" Crowley is an ex-criminal who has found his calling as a bounty hunter. Working with the man that saved him from the hangman's noose, the two have carved out a pretty comfortable existence for themselves, roaming the desert of the Old West and bringing in criminals for justice. It's a solid gig that both are happy to share with each other, but a man does have needs after all. When it comes to the end of a hard day's work, what are two men to do to unwind and pass the time? Play strip poker, of course.
Yeehaws and Yearning by sapphicshigeo (G)
...The setting sun behind them left their face in shadow, and Aziraphale pushed down her rising nerves. She spared a glance to her revolver, and exhaled. However, when the figure finally was close enough, dark spectacles and typical scowl coming into focus, Aziraphale groaned. “CROWLEY!” She yelled, out of exasperation and also to compensate for the distance, “Please tell me you are not this dastardly Marigold Marauder!”
Hell's Half Acre by Lurlur (E)
Of all the saloons that existed in Hell's Half Acre, Deputy U.S. Marshal Anthony Crowley had a strong preference for the establishment operated by old Sergeant Shadwell. He could be found propping up the bar at the Witch's Tit most afternoons, and at one of its gaming tables almost every night. Being a man of reliable habits was part of his service to the town; people could always find him when they needed him.
Be Still, My Foolish Heart by stinkybarnacles (G)
He took a breath and opened the door. It creaked just enough to get her attention. She glanced up - haloed by moonlight on one side of her face, and bleeding lamplight on the other. She smiled from where she was leaning on the banister as he let the door fall shut and joined her. "I was just thinking of you," She said. Crowley felt his throat close. He could only manage a curious hum in response. He was grateful for how much of his face was shadowed and covered in his fashions. "I'm glad you're here," She said simply. Her sentiment was lost on him. Was she glad he was in America? In this town, in this saloon? Or just here, on the secluded balcony with her? Or In 1898, the Wild West is already nearing its end, so Crowley ventures to America to soak it up while he still can. And, as has become a theme in his existence, bumps into a familiar angel in the process. A.K.A. Cowboy Crowley and Saloon Girl Aziraphale.
Oklahomens! by ranguvar82 (T)
ALL SINGING! SOME DANCING! The fic fusion that nobody asked for! Anthony Crowley is the best cowhand in the Oklahoma territory. Everyone loves him. Everyone, that is, except for Aziraphale Williams, the nephew of Mrs. Tracy. Crowley really wants to change that. But how? Well, through song, of course. Aziraphale doesn't know it, but he's about to be wooed.

He used to be Constable Thursday!
Recently, I've needed to look up various details of Fred Thursday's life before he came to Oxford—including what being an officer in the London Metropolitan Police would have been like waaay back when he first signed up back in 1938.
Tumblr media
There's a short article on the history of the Metropolitan Police by Clive Emsley (who also wrote a fairly well-regarded history of British policing), that has lots of interesting tidbits.
For instance:
"Until the end of the Second World War, most rank-and-file police officers came from the semi-skilled and unskilled working classes. Often, they did not join the force with a career in mind but to tide themselves over during a period of unemployment. The pay was steady and did not depend on market fluctuations (unlike other working-class jobs where the pay might, at times, be much higher). However, it could slip at times or, in a serious downturn, go down to nothing."
This fits with Fred being the son of a man who, as we learn in Cartouche, "...used to bare-knuckle it for a shift," at the Shadwell Basin in the East End.
Something more relevant to Bright than Thursday is this:
"In the larger towns and cities (and some counties), the chief constable was more likely to be a man who could fit in with the wealthy elite. Invariably he was a man used to commanding others, either in the armed forces or from one of the paramilitary imperial police forces – such as the Royal Irish Constabulary or one of the forces in Imperial India. It was only between the two world wars that the government began to insist that such men had an awareness and experience of policing."
Another interesting nugget:
"Unlike other working-class groups, a policeman’s wife was not allowed to take employment on her own behalf, which permanently limited the couple’s income. The fear was that a policeman's working wife might be tempted to use influence or be put under pressure because of her husband's job. Police officers were meant to appear as members of the ‘respectable working class’ (even if their pay was so much lower), and the wives of such men did not work."
A brief search didn't give me any indication of when the ban on working was lifted for policemen's wives, so I can't say for sure if it would have applied to Win.
The search did, however, show me that police wives were in many instances the earliest women in paid, professional roles in the police. Only after they had pioneered the way were other women allowed to join.
And finally:
"Each man was given a beat [a territory and time in which to patrol], which was supervised by sergeants who periodically checked that each officer was where he was supposed to be. In London, police were expected to walk at a regulation 2.5 miles an hour. The traditional beat patrol lasted for more than a century, although it became more flexible over time as it became clear that any sensible burglar or robber could simply wait until the constable had passed through their territory before committing a crime."
I include that last bit because I would pay a large sum of money to hear what Morse would have said regarding:
1) The regulation 2.5 miles an hour
2) The fact that any sensible burglar or robber could simply wait until the constable had passed through their territory before committing a crime

@flashfictionfridayofficial prompt - "invisible guest"
After staring blankly at Aziraphale for almost a full minute, Crowley finally said, “Are you serious right now?”
“Quite serious!” Aziraphale folded his hands together behind his back, as he had often done when reporting to Heaven. Crowley would never judge him in the way that angels had, but the gesture still helped him prepare for facing doubt. “There is a ghost in the bookshop.”
Crowley looked around. Then he took his sunglasses off and looked around again. Finally, he turned back to Aziraphale, golden eyes questioning. “I still don’t see anything.“
“Well, of course not.” Aziraphale cleared his throat. “He’s, um. He’s invisible.”
Slowly, Crowley drew a deep breath, then released it just as slowly. “He’s wot.”
“Invisible!”
“Then how do you know you have a ghost?”
Ordinarily, Aziraphale found Crowley’s barrage of questions rather endearing. At the moment, he was somewhat impatient with it. “Really, my dear. Surely some of those horror films you’re so fond of feature ghosts. How are those ghosts identified?”
“In the sort of horror films I like, usually by incredibly cheesy effects.” Crowley waved a hand around, as if he might bump into the ghost. He did not bump into the ghost. “So, are you having like cold spots or something? Mysterious, I dunno… fog?”
“Oh, nothing so unpleasant as that. Mostly, it’s that books keep not being in the proper place.”
Crowley bit his lip, looking pained. “More ‘not in the proper place’ than you intentionally keep them to ward off the horrors of customers?”
Aziraphale smiled. How funny to have a demon who was so skeptical about ghosts. “More than that, yes. Especially as I’ve seen the books moving on their own.”
“So?” Crowley flicked a hand, and a nearby book levitated off the top of a stack. “I can make books move on their own.”
“Yes, but neither of us is doing it.” With a heavy sigh, Aziraphale caught the book that Crowley was levitating and put it back down. “So, either there’s a ghost in the shop… or else someone from one of our old Sides is hanging about.”
Crowley’s eyes widened. For a moment, he just stared at Aziraphale. “Oh, gosh. I hope it’s a ghost.”
“Yes, so do I.”
“So, why’d you call me over, anyway? I don’t know anything about ghosts, angel.”
“No, neither do I. Although I did sort of channel one recently. While Madam Tracy was channeling me…”
Crowley perked up. “Right, Seance Lady! She’d probably know what to do. Hold on.”
Immediately, Crowley pulled out his mobile phone and began tapping at it with mysterious purpose. Aziraphale frowned at him, confused. “Why do you have Madam Tracy’s phone number?”
“I don’t.”
“Then what—”
“I’ve got Sergeant Shadwell’s number.”
“Ah, yes,” Aziraphale said, and went to make a pot of tea just in case they were about to have more guests. If Madame Tracy had to come over to channel the ghost or something, Sergeant Shadwell would likely wish to come along to protect her from demons and such.
It was a few minutes before Crowley slouched into the kitchen, hands in his pockets. “Well, we’re on our own. Turns out Seance Lady and Sergeant Shadwell have both retired. They’re in the middle of moving to the countryside.”
“Oh! How nice for them.” That sounded lovely, so many fewer people. “Did she have any advice?”
“Well, sounds like those two deserve each other. They’re both scammers.” With a snort of laughter, Crowley crossed his arms and leaned against the counter. “Apparently, Seance Lady has been faking her seances all this time, and making a pretty tidy profit.”
“Oh.”
“She says to try asking the ghost nicely what it wants.”
“Well, obviously, he wants to read my books!” Frowning, Aziraphale twisted his hands together and tried to think. “Well, really, he’s been quite polite about it. Hasn’t damaged them, always puts them back on a shelf. It’s just not always—”
“Hold on,” Crowley interrupted. “How do you know the ghost is a he?”
Aziraphale paused, startled. “Oh, um… I don’t know. He just feels like a he.”
“You can sense ghosts?”
“Possibly.” He hadn’t actually been aware of it until now. “I-I think it’s more of, um… more of a subconscious sort of thing. Hold on, let me just…”
Tentative, he opened his mind a bit, reaching out in the same sort of way that Madam Tracy had reached out during the seance. He wasn’t terribly good at it. Angels didn’t normally open themselves to these realms, not while stationed on Earth. Or simply retired on Earth, in his case.
But still, when he reached out, he found a familiar presence. The presence had nothing it wanted to say, and went back to reading a book about Byzantium.
“I’ve asked the ghost what he wants,” Aziraphale announced. “I’m pretty sure the answer is ‘peace and quiet’.”
Crowley was staring at him again as if he’d gone mad. “Wot?”
“It’s Ron Ormerod, the same ghost that spoke through me and Madam Tracy during the seance. All he wanted was peace and quiet then, rather than being pestered by his wife repeatedly contacting him during seances to complain about all their living acquaintances.” Smiling, Aziraphale prepared tea for himself and Crowley. “I suppose Mr. Ormerod followed me home, in a sense.”
Accepting the cup of tea, Crowley relaxed. “So, not a threat?”
“No, not at all. He just wants to read, and he’s welcome to stay as long as he likes.” Aziraphale flicked a hand, and the shop sign flipped itself to closed. “I shall close up the shop until he leaves. Can’t have any customers troubling my invisible guest when he’s being so polite.”
Crowley rolled his eyes, but he looked quite pleased at the whole concept of keeping the shop closed. Aziraphale liked the idea too. They were all retired now, and could certainly use a little peace and quiet.

Hello! Kind of an odd question 😅 but I was talking with @anti-soup and they raised a point about Good Omens I thought you might know the answer to:
Does soup exist in the Good Omens universe? (At least in the TV one.)
Thank you! Have a great day!
Hiya! :) Checking the book, yeah, soup does exist in the Good Omens universe :).
Anathema lunched on miso soup and pored over her maps.
That was the trouble. Witchfinders didn't get paid by the hour. Any witchfinder who spent a week examining the local crones and then told the mayor, "Well done, not a pointy hat among the lot of them," would get fulsome thanks, a bowl of soup and a meaningful goodbye.
No," said Madame Tracy, in the voice of the demon. "Now, I know what you're thinking, Sergeant Shadwell. You're thinking that any second now this head is going to go round and round, and I'm going to start vomiting pea soup. Well, I'm not. I'm not a demon. And I'd like you to listen to what I have to say. "

Ok. So we need to talk about what Neil Gaiman said about Good Omens S3:
Tumblr media
I'm very curious of who could be coming back, here is my opinion about it (based only on my small analysis and hopes) for the S1 characters:
Humans:
Anathema and Newt: I think this one is a given. S1 ends with both of them buring the second volume of Agnes Nutters' prophecies, it's some big foreshadowing and I don't think it would make sense for it to be completely ignored, and if we want that to be used, we need those two characters to be back. So I'd say a good 80-90% chance of seeing them again.
Agnes Nutters: In a similar fashion, it would make sense to see Agnes again in flashbacks, especially as we don't know much about the second volume of prophecies, but I think it would be a little less necessary for the storytelling as a lot of her life has already been explored in S1. Maybe something like a 70% or 80% chance, as this also depends on whether we will see Anathema and Newt or not.
Adam: Once more it would make sense for him to be back. He was the Antichirst, and still seems to hold some power, so he could be an important ally during the second coming. I could picture the story without him, but I think it would be more interresting for him to be back. Probably a 80% chance as well.
Madame Tracy and Sergeant Shadwell: This one is a bit more complex. I don't think that their presence is important for the story, but it could be? And for me a lot of the main characters from S1 have good reasons to come back on S3, so if most come back except for those two, it could be weird. But their story was over, so it would not be a problem to not have them here. Overall, I think it's less certain to see them, but maybe having a small cameo of the two of them without much details or impact in the story. Probably around 40-50% chance of seeing them.
Warlock: And here I have a problem. I'd love to see him back, because he was the starting point of the story, and because I love him and he went through a lot and he deserve better, but I just... don't really see it? He doesn't really fit in story, doesn't know much about it, so I'm struggling to see what role he could have. The only thing that gives me some hope here, is the fact that in the show, he doesn't have an actual ending and is just let there at the fields of Meggido witbout any further explanation which doesn't feel like a proper conclusion. Here my heart make my want to say 70% chance, but honestly, it's probably more around 50%.
The them: I do believe it would be a bit weird to see Adam alone without his friends, which give them quite a good chance of coming back as well. However, they don't have as much impact on the story and were pretty minor characters in the TV show, plus, as some time has passed between the two seasons, there would be in their late-teens/ early adulthood, meaning that it is not unlikely that they don't see each other as much anymore. Will they be mentionned if Adam comes back? Very probably. But will they come back in the show? I'd say there's around a 60-70% chance.
Arthur and Deidre Young: I honestly don't see them coming back. They were here mostly to introduce Adam's character as a child, but here, he will be a young adult, so not necessarly living with his parents anymore. Plus I don't really see what role they could have in the S3 plot. Still, it's not impossible that they will have a few scenes with Adam so probably around 30% chance.
The Dowlings: We barely saw them in S1 so I don't see why they would come back in S3, as they had no major role and were mostly the absent parents. Still, if we see Warlock again, they could come back along him for some continuity. Probably 10-20% chance.
Sister Mary Loquacious: another character that I don't see coming back. The actress plays Nina, which I'm pretty sure will be in S3, so having her play two different roles seems unlikely. Plus, that character was not that much present in S1, so I don't think she'll be there. Still, we never know, so I'd say 10% chance.
Lesley (and maybe his wife): this is such a minor character, so it is not so important for him to be coming back, and I'd actually be quite surprised to see him. But still, as Neil Gaiman mentionned characters that we don't expect coming back, I have the feeling that it could be one of the characters he was refering to, so I think his chances are a little bit higher than for some others, around 40%.
Angels and Demons
Aziraphale and Crowley: Do I even have to say it? 99.999%. (The 0.001%, with probably more zeros than that, being the non nigligible chance that the S3 gets cancelled for some reason and Neil Gaiman is unable to publish a book to finish the story and us being left only with the special spoilers.)
Metatron: Yes. There is absolutely no reason for him not to come back as he is a huge part of the plot for now. 99%
Hastur/Michael/Sandalphon/Uriel: Some of them will definitely comme back, but I am not sure all of them will. However, they don't really have enough plot elements for me to determine which is more or less likely to be back. I'd say a 95% chance we'll see some of them, probably 70-80% for each of them individualy. It might be a bit more for Sandalphon actually, as it would make sense to have the Sodom and Ghomorrah story.
Gabriel and Beelzebub: This one is a bit more complex actually. Their own story is complete, and they are banned from everywhere, which seems to make their comeback more complex. But if their story is complete, the one of Angels and Demons living together and loving each other, as well a defiying Heaven and Hell definitely isn't. My guess is that they will at least be mentionned and maybe have some scenes in the past, but in the present I'm less sure about it. 60-70%
Satan: I honestly do not see Satan coming back in the present, partly for technical reasons, partly because the plot will probably more be centered around Heaven (or an alliance between Heaven and Hell) against the Earth, and I really don't see how he could fit in that story, especially after being defeated(?) by Adam. However in the past? Yes absolutely. It makes sense for a lot of people that the Fall will be in the S3 and he was a major character of that story that would need to be included. So overall coming back in the show? 50-60%
Eric: I don't see why he would not come back? He is a pretty minor character, but he was there in both seasons (mostly for comedy) so I believe he will still be present in S3. Will he have a more important plot? I'd love to, especially as he is somewhat different from the other demons (asks a lot of questions for example) and seems a bit like Hell's counterpart to Muriel, but I have my doubts. But will he be there? Absolutely, 80-90% chance.
Others
Death: 90-95%. For that one, I'm not considering the story as much as what's behind it. Like, it would make sense in the story for Death to come back, but it also wouldn't be a large problem if he didn't. However, Good Omens is a story written by Neil Gaiman AND Terry Pratchett, and Death (even though the character is a bit different in the Discworld saga) is one of Terry Pratchett most famous characters. As one of the reason for which the Good Omens TV show has been produced was to respect Terry's wish and to pay him some kind of tribute, it seems logical that Neil will want to include this character in what is their very last work together.
The other Horespersons: As for Death, it would make sense for them to come back, but I don't see them as essential characters in the plot of S3. However, it was stated at the end of S1 when they were defeated by the thems that they were purely concepts and never far away, so it might be a good indication that they would take part once more in the apocalypse, even if simply in the background. 70%.
Jesus: Yes? The plot is going to include the Second Coming so it would require a strong explanation for him not to be present at all. 90-95%
God: God's voice was missing in S2 and present in S1, which can already bring some questions. However the S3 is the final chapter to that story, and will probably lead to Aziraphale and Crowley finally being allowed to live in peace, which requires to know the precise situation in Heaven and with God. I'm not sure if She will be actually present in the show, or simply narrating the story, or even simply being revealed as having left the whole of Creation alone, but a conclusion on that part seems necessary to have a proper - and peaceful - ending. 90-95%.
To be fair, it is a lot of wishful thinking here, but also, it would make sense for most of the characters to make a comeback (no matter how small) in the final season of Good Omens. But once again it's Good Omens. It's not predictable. Most things can happen and it would still make some kind of sense.

Writer's Guild Presents: Shadwell's Dream Job
Written by niknak90, find them on Reddit and AO3
AKA the Job/Shadwell crackfic that nobody (except Neil himself) asked for. The author regrets nothing and everything at the same time.
3,788 words
CW/TW: M rating, POV Shadwell (including Shadwell-typical misogyny/homophobia), Dream Sex, Dream Crowley/Young Shadwell, Biblical/Historical Inaccuracies, Background Aziraphale/Crowley.
Summary:
After saving the world, Witchfinder Sergeant Shadwell is faced with a new nemesis: his own mind, dreaming for the first time. He crosses time and space, encountering witches, demons, angels, and a man that was only a book in the Bible before.
Excerpt:
“Don’t touch me, witch!” Shadwell yanks his hands away and holds out his finger again.
The witch nods. “Aye, I see…you think I cursed you, and yet you come to me for the cure.”
“I don’t want none of your wicked enchantments, witch! I’d rather have nightmares every night than have your magic messing with me!”
“Of course, Witchfinder. I have not any spells or magic potions for your condition. Only a word of advice.”
“Oh, well, advice…that might not be so bad.” He has no intention of following the advice of a witch. She would just lead him down the path of sin. But perhaps he ought to listen, learn what not to do.
“My advice, Witchfinder, is not to read the Good Book. Read anything else you’d like, but not the Bible. I would especially encourage not reading the Book of Job. You won’t find anything of note there in the story of a man tested by God.”

Aight so. As we move into the summer season I have been struck with inspiration for a new AU. It is a summer camp AU. All the MCs are roughly 18/19. I’ve started enjoy the idea of Crowley as an archangel and the archangels being his siblings cuz that’s very dramatic and I’ve been exposed to a lot of that content so that’s here now too. Also I made my two favourite characters friends because of course I did that’s what I always do in every fandom I’ve ever been in.
(Featuring friends to lovers Aziracrow and enemies to lovers Ineffable Bureaucracy obviously.)
So the perspective is split between the four main characters. Gabriel Archer, his half brother Anthony J Crowley (Known mostly as Crowley) same mother (Gods human character that looks like Frances Mcdormand, most likely named Godiva or something similar) different fathers. They are constantly fighting and being general little nightmares, never seeming to be able to agree on anything and taking arguments way too far (bringing up each others fathers; Gabes died and Crowley’s was shitty, getting into actual physical altercations and getting eachother in trouble at school) so their mother decides to send them to a summer camp as councillors for bonding and teamwork purposes. She’s trying okay. Gabriel just turned 19 and Crowley is 18.
And on the other side are the head councillors, Aziraphale (known as A, Azi, Zira or variations on ‘shithead’ and the like by Beez cuz they’re a little bitch) Prince and Beelzebub (known as Beez) Hellborne. They’re 18 but have been attending this summer camp since they were 11 (they’re known as ‘legacy campers’).
This is their second year as councillors so they’ve been given a promotion bc the last head councillors left. To most people they seem like the world’s least likely friendship but they just vibe. It’s probably the undiagnosed autism. They love food and classic literature (I think Beez would like Lovecraftian horror and more horror-y stuff like Frankenstein, Dracula, Jekyll and Hyde etc. while we obviously know Aziraphale has a preference for Jane Austen.) and manage to be equally terrible influences on eachother (aziraphale is that one friend who will suggest something and then be like ‘oh no don’t actually do it I was joking!’ While having a shit-eating grin on his face because he knows damn well they’ll do the thing).
Beez is better at handling activities (surprise surprise so is Gabe) while Zira is better at handling the campers themselves (surprise surprise so is Crowley) since he tends to be gentler. (Eg. Beez will try to get the campers attention by yelling ‘okay, maggots!’ And Aziraphale will literally just bop them on the head with the book he’s holding and glare at them until they say something non-aggressive. ‘Beez we talked about this you can’t yell at the 11 year olds.’ ‘Why not? My older siblings yelled at me when I was that age.’ ‘…Well we’re going to have to unpack THAT later. Also hold my book I wanna go talk to Crowley.’)
Aziraphales family is homophobic and Beelzebubs are generally pretty toxic and involved in some bad crimey stuff (they have six brothers, the other deadly sins) so camp is their favourite time of year and they will not tolerate these new councillors messing their safe place up.
The owner and guidance councillor of the camp, ‘Sergeant’ Shadwell and ‘Madam’ Tracy, who are definitely-not-secretly-pining love these two, Shadwell calls them and the other councillors his ‘officers’ and Tracy tells them they’re stars.
So the bros™️ show up at camp and are intoducd to the other councillors, including the buddies™️, queue an ‘oh no he’s hot’ squidward moment as the brothers realise this summer may not be so bad after all. Queue shenanigans, no one being good at feelings, matchmaking, healing relationships and found family feels.
still need to think of a name for the damn camp though.
OH MY GOSH this is an absolutely GENIUS idea!! I absolutely adore this...
(dies inside as i instantly think "OOH! Camp Armagetalong–!" I'm a sucker for puns and word play...)

Script to Screen comparison: Episode 3 – Hard Times P2 – additions and amendments
Tumblr media
Standard Intro
Having followed the episodes through with the Script Book, I've tried to break the differences between the original script and the end result on screen into a couple of different categories:
Large changes (whole scenes/multiple lines of script).
Things that are in the original script but not in the finished episode (I'm calling these deletions). These and the large changes are in part 1 of the write up for this episode.
Things that aren't in the original script but are in the finished episode (I'm calling these additions).
Things that have been changed (I'm calling these ones amendments).
Not all of the changes fit neatly into one category or the other (there are shades of grey...). The first three of the differences will be presented within bullet lists, with a description. The last of the categories will be presented in a table. I'll make comments about anything I find particularly notable after each category.
Additions
A line from Shakespeare instructing Burbage to go “from the top”.
Aziraphale saying he doesn’t know about him and Crowley having a lot in common during the meeting in 1793.
Shadwell gives the name of an additional fictional officer (Sergeant Pepper) to Crowley in the café.
Anathema telling Adam he doesn’t have to read the magazines if he doesn’t want to.
Madame Tracy telling Aziraphale to “hold on” (on the telephone) whilst she fetches Shadwell.
Shadwell’s “Aye?” exclamation as he answers the phone.
God naming Famine’s latest invention.
An external shot of Lesley arriving at the burger restaurant.
Lesley telling Famine he has to sign for the package.
A line from Famine clarifying the contents of the package (measuring scales).
A shot of Newt reading the Witchfinder Army manual before he talks to Shadwell about going to Tadfield.
A line from Mr. Young claiming Adam is fine after the conversation about ley lines.
I don’t think there’s an awful lot to say about most of these additions – they’re all very trivial, and I’m not completely sure that they add much to the finished episode. I do think the extra fictional character Shadwell drops into the dying conversation is a nice comic touch, and I think we probably did need to hear Famine name the object in the parcel, otherwise we might all have thought that they were the scales of justice (or is that just me?).
Amendments
Tumblr media
As with the amendments in episode 2, most of these are tiny, but there are a handful of them that change the entire context or meaning of a line with the change of a single word. For instance, Crowley referring to “our lot” instead of “my lot” in 537 AD suggests he already considers he and Aziraphale to have formed a sort of partnership, rather than him being a lone wolf. And there’s that crucial change in Aziraphale’s stance on Crowley obtaining holy water:
Tumblr media
The original script suggests that this is a choice that Aziraphale is making, with the motivation being unclear. The end result we see on screen suggests that, whilst his free will remains intact, his decision is driven by need. And how about this one:
Tumblr media
The script version is a suggestion. The onscreen version is a statement. One word of difference. Completely different sentence meaning as a result.
There’s one of the amendments that, as with the oddity of Anathema’s Tadfield Manor statement, didn’t actually make any sense in the original script:
Shadwell produces a greasy, well-thumbed accounts book. […] He makes to slide it across, but Crowley makes a gesture: not necessary. Shadwell nods. The accounts vanish into Shadwell’s mac. […] Hold on Shadwell’s accounts book.
If the accounts book had already “vanished” into Shadwell’s coat, how could we have a close-up shot of it later on in the conversation?
The sequence at the end of the episode has been heavily edited, but I think it’s totally appropriate, as the end result feels much more harried and desperate, which is absolutely appropriate to the subject matter, if disappointing for the actors involved.
Aside from the instances or examples I’ve highlighted, I think most of the others are pretty trivial, but I’m happy to discuss any further. That’s it for this write up though, on to the next episode! As always, questions, comments, discussion: always welcome. See you in the next one 😊

Hi! Thank you for this blog. I was wondering if you could recommend any fics where one or the other or both at once think the other is dead?I love presumed dead fics.
Hello! You can check some previous presumed dead recs here, and you may also be interested in our #temporary character death tag. Here are some more presumed dead fics...
The Empty Flat & The Burning Bookshop by probably_publius (T)
It took a lot for Aziraphale to finally give in and give Crowley the thermos of Holy Water, and when he does, he is ladden with guilt. He can only hope that he doesn't use it on himself. In this storyline, Sergeant Shadwell takes just a minute longer to run to Mr. Fell's bookshop and misses Aziraphale after he runs to Crowley's flat. Meanwhile, Crowley is driving (if you can call it driving) to the bookshop. Aziraphale finds the demon goop and his thermos of Holy Water in Crowley's empty flat, his best friend gone. Crowley finds the bookshop in flames, his best friend gone. Warnings!!! You have been warned! Heavy angst, some swearing, reference to murder , reference to discorporation, reference to stealing, mention of Nazis, themes of and apparent suicide, themes of depression, self-loathing, and self-guilt.
Fractured Heart by Blue_Sparkle (T)
Angels are sturdy beings, but rigid and changeless and not meant to endure grief or loss. When thousands Fall and many more are slain in the Great Rebellion, they either literally break apart...or forget. Aziraphale's only memories of his lost beloved are his lover's skill at creating stars. Memories he cherishes above all else. It complicates matters when his heart starts attaching to a certain demon, but perhaps his time on earth can teach him how to heal.
Stitches by CaspianTheGeek (E)
Until now, Aziraphale's family has seen fit to ignore him slipping into the village to see his tailor-turned-lover. That is until the King dies and Aziraphale's brother decides it is time he finds a proper match. Crowley is sent to prison and Aziraphale is told he has died for daring to love the prince. Love isn't so easily stopped, and Crowley is determined to return to Aziraphale however he can. (I promise, this will absolutely have a happy ending. As all my stories do.)
Anyway, Don't Be A Stranger by Juno_Sunlit (T)
It's been 10 years since Crowley died, and Aziraphale has mourned for every single minute. It's also been 10 years since Aziraphale died, and Crowley, up in the stars, has done the same. To God's chagrin, neither is aware of the other's continued existence. Sick and tired of grief big enough to end a universe, She sends them both on a trip through their old haunts, hoping they'll meet. All is as well and good as possible until something happens to Aziraphale, and a grieving Crowley must unknowingly come to his rescue. Includes musings on existence, gentle, warm flashbacks, demonic heists of a homosexual nature, God in slippers, asshole Gabriel, tearful reunions, the inherent tenderness of loving someone ever so much, and, through all the sorrow, a very happy ending.
A Beautiful Fiction by Thestarlitrose (E)
Nineteen years after having his memories of Crowley stolen, Aziraphale encounters Warlock and has everything come rushing back to him. Together; with the help of an ex-antichrist, they embark on a journey through the Southeastern, United States to locate Crowley to bring him home, where he belongs. Chapters with smut and other potential triggers will be listed in the notes.
The Ghost of Husbands Past by A_N_D (E)
Az always knew that he’d be thrown out the moment his father found out he was gay. He hadn’t expected to be declared dead though - or for his husband to believe it! But their marriage had been a foolish teenage impulse (not to mention invalid in America), so when Az moved to a small town far upstate New York to start his new life, he moved alone. The kindest thing he could do was let Crowley mourn and move on, not be shackled for life to a now disabled partner. Tony Crowley never recovered from losing his best friend, his childhood sweetheart, his better half. He’d been drifting ever since; no plans, no hope, no money - and now, just before Thanksgiving, no job either. Given the stark choice of freezing to death or accepting his sister’s invitation to join her upstate, Tony reluctantly lives out the Hallmark cliche of Recently Unemployed Person Moves to Small Town for Christmas. It’s a time of hope, love, and family. It’s time for Az and Tony to find each other again.

Alright.... I have 8.5 chapters out of 20/21 written for my next Good Onens Humans AU fic, and small parts of 2 other chapters that are less than half of each of those chapters.
The first two chapters have been edited to death.
So, do I start posting to motivate myself to write faster or should I have more done before I start posting?
It is all outlined. I'd be posting 1 or 2x per week, though chapters 5 and 6 are the ones only partially completed, otherwise I have up to chapter 10 written but not edited.
What to do, what to do...
A small bit for WIP Wednesday? Click the Read More if interested...
Crowley is the Crown Prince and Aziraphale is his army's General who has been wounded:
He returned to Aziraphale an hour later. “Are your orders ready?”
“Yes, my prince. They await only you to deliver them. You will need to leave soon if you plan to be back before nightfall.”
“Bentley is fast.” One thing his father had been able to teach him that he was good at: horse riding. Bentley had nearly broken the horsemaster, but Crowley had taken her and tamed her in his own way and they had become quite the pair. She was fast, and Crowley handled her well.
“Someone should go with you, to watch your back, Your Highness."
“Wish it was you, General, but I'll be fine and faster alone."
“Come back...."
“I will, I swear. Now, who am I to give these missives to?"
“Give them all to Sergeant Shadwell. He is a bit past his prime, but still eager and has command of some of the younger troops that tend to the logistics. He will make sure they end up in the right hands.”
“I can do that." He brought his fist to his heart. “For Averus."
Aziraphale smiled. "Stay alive.”
"You too. I need you to get through this. The army needs their General.”
"I will do my best.”
With a nod, Crowley left Aziraphale and headed to his rooms. There he donned a riding outfit of pure black to better blend in with his surroundings in the approaching darkness and grabbed his riding cloak. Then he headed for the stables.
"My lord?” The stable hand, a young woman who went by Pepper, asked when she saw him approaching.
"Glad it's you. I need Bentley and she likes you."
“Of course she does. I'm not afraid of her."
“And you shouldn't be. Can you get her fitted and saddled while I grab a few supplies?"
“On it, I'll bring her out in a few minutes."
Crowley went about gathering the supplies he'd need for a quick journey, he grabbed water skins for both himself and Bentley and filled them from the trough nearby. He already had his saddlebag packed with an extra cloak and gloves and Aziraphale’s letters. He added apples until the bag was full and tied it up.
A moment later, Pepper brought Bentley to him, saddled and ready. The dirty mare shook her head at him and Crowley grabbed a sugar cube for her. Bentley licked at it for a moment before she threw her head back.
“Think she's ready to get on with it, Crowley."
“Indeed. Guess I'll be on my way then."
Crowley mounted and Pepper removed Bentley’s lead rope once he was seated. "She hasn't been out for a bit, so she'll run well for you.”
When Crowley glanced down at the girl, she shrugged.
"I had other duties. One of the mares went into labor early, but she and her new foal are doing well. And poor Bentley, you know the boys won't go near her.” Pepper sighed and rolled her eyes.
Crowley smothered a laugh and shook his head before he waved off. He kept Bentley to a slow walk the rest of the way out of the stables, trotting her to the gate. And waving his way past the line guard. Since the war started the palace guard had been drastically reduced as they all came from the standing army. Currently there was a rotation of eight, three to watch the perimeter and one at the gate, switching off every twelve hours. There was no need for more. If a large group from Allium attacked the palace directly somehow they would surrender. Holding back men and women who were capable warriors to defend the palace was not a useful strategy.

Montreal Confidential
Montreal Confidential
by Maggie_Honeybite
Aziraphale is a widower who lives in Montreal and works as a librarian-archivist at the McGill University library. Crowley is a young’ish cellist who moves into the apartment next door. Complications ensue. This fic started out as an excuse for me to write about music I like in a setting I enjoy, with some smut thrown in. It’s since taken on a life of its own, complete with Canadian baked goods, some Canadian WWII history, and an Italian mafia connection.

Witchfinder Sergeant Shadwell is an old man with a sordid past and a deep-seated hatred for… well, everything. When he isn’t raving about the evils of witchery on street corners or improvising details about his supposedly vast Witchfinder Army enterprises, he’s adding obscene amounts of sweetener to his tea and collecting Witchfinder Army memorabilia. Though he is generally considered an unpleasant—or even seedy—character, there are a certain few who have taken a shine to the old Sergeant over the years. He may have some good to contribute to the world in the end… but that’d be terribly unlikely, wouldn’t it?
