Slay the Princess (PS5)
Tumblr media
Sticking to stories and mazes: Slay the Princess is a smart and sincere interactive novel with a striking ability to recognise the player’s intent and respond with a joke, a revelation, or a retort, as the situation demands. You are sent in to a cabin in the woods to slay a princess, and any questions or objections about that setup form the meat of the experience. So much of the game is about understanding what the game is about that I’m loath to write too much more. The writing, voice acting, art and music are both charmingly unique and entirely effective across the wide range of tones the game explores, from the darkly humorous to the heartbreakingly romantic. A dark, sparkling gem which lingers at the back of the mind.

Come play a brand new demo of Long Gone Days at PAX West, Serenity Forge's booth #1016!
The booth is right next to ATLUS and SquareEnix's booths, so there's no way to get lost.
Besides playing Long Gone Days, take the time to also try our friends games at the same booth:
Arcadian Atlas by Twin Otter Studios
Smile for Me by @limbolanegames
Virgo Versus The Zodiac by @moonanagames
And many more!
Also, our dear programmer Camilo is there in person! He'll also be part of a panel that'll take place today from 8pm to 9pm at the booth, with several other devs!

12/06/24: Canadian order received! One of my last Black Friday purchases just got in. A DS game and four Switch games. It came from Videogames Plus. An authorized retailer that gets and reprints out of stock games. And of course, I had to buy Disgaea DS. It was $29.99 Canadian. Which isn't that bad cause all I could find for a long time now is the DS game cart only with no case. It's something I've been wanting for some years now. I did try this DS version years ago. But I simply found the old PSP port superior. I'm getting closer to a full North American Disgaea set. And the switch games seem less common, too. These cost about $20 Canadian each. Half-off, supposedly. They're also games that come from indie publishers. More 2d sidescrollers/Metroidvanias! I like those types of games. I hope you have an excellent weekend.

In addition to providing an in-game contextualization of its later game file manipulation, the expansion of Doki Doki Literature Club Plus! also gives new context to the various characters in its narrative through a group of Side Stories, each of which greatly expand upon the individual relationships that form the basis of the core experience. What makes these particularly notable is that, rather than being a full participant in these prologues, the player is presented as more of an observer, as their presence in the main narrative serves to completely change the larger context of the experience. In other words, until the player becomes a full interactive entity within the world of the game, the stories presented therein revolve around its characters as protagonist inhabitants, rather than allies or antagonists.

Keylocker is a Treat for JRPG Fans
The demo for Keylocker has been a joy to play and anyone looking for a new JRPG should keep an eye out for it. The combat has that high risk and high reward feeling to it that can be lost in a lot of JRPGs. The game already has the makings of a great JRPG: rewarding battles, minigames, art and music that are all around just made with a ton of love from the developer.
