Some little kid who’s been allowed to stay up wins everyone’s money by being a nasty little cut-throat swot!’ ‘Right!’ ‘Er . . .’ said Ponder, who rather suspected that he had been that child. ‘And don’t forget the presents,’ said the Chair of Indefinite Studies, as if reading off some internal list of gloom. ‘How . . . how full of potential they seem in all that paper, how pregnant with possibilities . . . and then you open them and basically the wrapping paper was more interesting and you have to say “How thoughtful, that will come in handy.” It’s not better to give than to receive, in my opinion, it’s just less embarrassing.’ ‘I’ve worked out,’ said the Senior Wrangler, ‘that over the years I have been a net exporter of Hogswatch presents—’ ‘Oh, everyone is,’ said the Chair. ‘You spend a fortune on other people and what you get when all the paper is cleared away is one slipper that’s the wrong colour and a book about earwax.’

I know they were setting up "Toradeen on the rocks" during the FCBD issue, but cmon! We don't even know how they got together, and they're already breaking them up, that's bullshit!

I'm like 99% sure they're gonna get back together and it's just the writers adding a bit of drama. And like, given their history, and Toralei's reputation, I don't think its' super uncalled for. In fact I think I would have been a bit put off if they didn't have some challenges in their relationship, they both have very strong personalities, and this is Clawdeen's first relationship. And they're 15 lol.

But like you said, there's no set up to their relationship, we don't even know how long they'd been dating, and next hing we know they're broken up?? It's weird as hell to have a whole pride comic, just to break them up off screen in the very next issue.

I have mixed feelings about Clawdeen's story arc seemingly revolving around relationship drama. I think there's more that could be done with her, but at the same time she's literally the only main ghoul never shown in a relationship in gen 1, so it's also kinda of a long time coming, and I'm psyched it's with Toralei instead of some random dude.

yes, most friends, when I tell them about this comparison, look at me for a moment and then say "it's just that you both have very light eyes." so it could be that I don't even look like Billie Eilish at all, and the question of If That's A Good Thing Or Not is moot!

(fun fact: when I was around 3-4, people frequently asked my parents if I was "one of the girls from Full House"...not realizing that Full House was rerunning its early seasons by that point and the Olsen twins were already 10 years old)

also it’s interesting because. my family is deeply unsentimental (in a very powerful way) and society is divided into the pretty heartless or the pretty sentimental (generally speaking) and I’m sort of this walking heart wound of emotion trying to straddle these lines (and having a hard time of it!) but one of the things that does guard me from being more sentimental than I am is the secret cruelty and unfairness that lurks at the bottom of all sentimentality.
