I'm so obsessed with all the clothes I have saved on pinterest they are so me but the links are either expired, or the clothes are out of stock or linked to aliexpress or some dodgy dropshipping website that 100% uses slave labour
#don't even tell me to thrift bro. the charity shops where i live are filled with old lady clothes#and the vintage stores jack up their prices to insane heights#^the semi affordable thrift stores just have really edgy clothes which also isn't my thing.#i feel like the only shops that sell clothes in my size that are trustworthy#just sell basic neutral coloured clothes. like h&m or lewkin i'm so sick of having no personality and dressing like everyone else!#help!

do you have any tips for vintage shopping in general but especially as a bigger size? i really want to start collecting but i feel like i only ever see things with super small sizes
I love that you want to start collecting!!
First of all I just want to express how vintage clothing is made for people of all sizes and anyone who says people were just smaller back then is lying because this is a photo of my Great Aunt back in the 1960s!!! I wish I could find this dress because it’s sooo beautiful
I think one way to start with location. If you live in a city, I would recommend going to a more rural area with an older population. I live in the city in California and I’ve had a hard time finding good vintage pieces in the city. I usually have to go out to the suburbs/rural areas. I’m from Missouri and I had sooo much luck at suburban Midwest thrift stores. Idk where you live but I think it’s a good idea go to out into an area that’s not as populated and have older people who are more likely to donate vintage clothes.
In terms of places to shop, I usually will do thrift stores or antique malls, don’t sleep on antique malls because a lot of them have clothing!!! I usually avoid chain thrift stores and prefer to find the small locally owned ones because they have better prices and are less likely to be picked through. So I would research on what kinds of thrift places you have in your area!! You can try vintage shops but a lot of them are more expensive, especially ones in the city. But in more suburban or rural areas you can sometimes find vintage shops that sell pieces for more reasonable prices. The less populated of an area you go to, the more likely you’ll find stuff that isn’t picked over (I went to college in the middle of nowhere Missouri and my fave vintage place had dresses for 10-15$). I also recommend estate sales because they usually have a ton of vintage!!! You can download apps or look at website to see where they are in your area. Same thing with garage sales but estate sales usually have more vintage since it’s usually old people. You can also look to see if there are any vintage markets in your area. Where I live they have one about once a month!!
When looking at clothes I would keep and eye on things with an elastic waist because those will stretch and fit a lot more sizes. I would also not solely rely on numbers when shopping for vintage clothing because the sizing was different. So something might be bigger or smaller than your size in modern clothes. If you have any doubts then I would try it on, which is why I always buy my vintage in person. Even if there isn’t a fitting room I’ll usually slip it on over my clothes or hold it up to myself to get an idea on if it will fit me.
Sorry this is really long but I hope it helps 💕😭
#I’m sorry if you were looking to buy vintage clothing online because I don’t really buy clothes online 😭#but if you want to try that route I would look at mercari and poshmark#don’t do depop because it’s just a bunch of girlies selling thrift clothing for 10 times the price

OK... I started this with just one idea and it got out of control.
Blood Moon: 3 Years Later, or what I envision everyone is doing in the future.
Let's go! Lee and Ed started a paranormal investigator business. Lee is still tired, but less so. Ed changed his hair and now owns 25 different sweater vests.
My MC (whoops forgot what name I used) works at an independent bookstore. She recently tried out bangs, but she hates them.
Lee and Ed go by constantly to order books on the supernatural and the occult. Ruby finds out somehow and without a doubt, convinces the bookstore owners to sell charms (real) near the register. The bookstore starts to get a reputation for being supernatural-friendly.
My MC adopted Ed's cozy style and they act like this all the time even though they have been together for 3 years and live together.
Vicky works at a gardening center/nursery. I don't know, I feel like she likes taking care of the plants, but she loves when customers request plant installation and she gets to go out with the crew and plant trees and shrubs. Sometimes Lee & Ed need extra muscle for a job and she does that too.
...and this is where it turns into pure detective sitcom cause Marco works a different job in the city each week. Need to do a stakeout at a fancy restaurant? Marco's got you covered. Need to sneak into a school after-hours? No problem! Doing too much research and feeling peckish? Marco works at the bakery too.
Blood Moon is by @barbwritesstuff
Ridiculousness by me
#help i'm drawing#legit spent 2-3 weeks on this series of paintings#that feeling when you just wanna draw one thing but then you draw four things???#-_- I rushed some of this - wish I could go back and take my time#sorry roe carrie sergi farro#no clue what they're up to 3 years later#although maybe carrie could take over Ed's original hustle of selling vintage clothes and old video games online

i dont want to give in to Modern Shapewear but i really hate when im trying to have a Fun Outfit and theres fucking Distinct Lines from various under wear bands (bra, undies, maybe a pair of tights?) all at separate points? that are impossible to hide bc the outer wear is fucking form fitting spandex
#toy txt post#if it were easier to make bespoke structured underclothing to create a smoother silhouette. god. i would. but thats so much more investment#in time and money and materials and hours to probably fuck it up at least the first coupke times vs just buying a fucking tummy control#camisole or some shit. but i cannot fucking stand the marketing around it. i dont want to put money to that. im not trying to Look Thinner#im trying to achieve a specific smoother silhouette w my clothing to look like a little clown and vintage silhouettes#rely so often on structured underclothing that the closest analogue to today is: fucking shapewear! unless i go out and get an actual#corset. but those tend to be more expensive. and im not aiming necessarily for the classic corset look i feel like a lot of the ones for#sale offer which seems to be very......booby. but the flatter more smoothing silhouette that was consistent between both menswear#and womenswear. the lengths it takes to be a nonbinary fucking clown. sighs deeply#also thinking again about the stupid fucking gold harley quinn jumpsuit i got like the movie that i Want to like and it Isnt Bad#but the material of the one in the movie is much thicker so its doesnt BEHAVE the same way as fucking form fitting spandex. and i know why#they did spandex. cos like. easier to sell cheaper to make fits a wider range etc. but i just want a fucking piece like that as an Actual#Garment of Clothing not a fucking spandex Halloween costume and couldnt find anything like it for less than $500. which is honestly#probably a reasonable price for labor and materials but not one i can justify? its just frustrating cos its So Close to good but the fuckin#Material just Ruins it for me and not even necessarily cos of like lack of shapewear lumpiness but like the way it drapes on the body the#way it stretches as spandex just looks Wrong. aaaaaaagaghgghghghggh#rage. anger. etc. need to learn how to sew my own shit at least a little. maybe a full length binder like 1 size up for comfort? scary#for context i also struggle with breathing from the lightest amount of Too Much Chest Compression. like sometimes bras will Get Me#so thats the other factor here. i dont know that this is necessarily looking for advice mostly im whining and complaining while doing#Nothing. ugh#also how much of this issue could be avoided if the form fitting spandex stuff had like. a lining. idk

how much money will i spend for one (1) pair of pants
#the answer may surprise you! as well as me .#i am Trying . to get a pair of vintage bell bottoms but every idiot who sells vintage clothing is like well thats gonna be 150 dollars#you are hurting vintage clothing when you do this!!!! it makes them very sad to cost so much#anyway might have found a nice pair of corduroys perhaps. gonna wait and see if the ebay person sends me an offer#as i kept looking at results i had to keep mentally adjusting my maximum limit id pay lol#i also hate when people usually on depop are like 'vintage 1970s' and then the very next word is 'inspired'#which means its NOT vintage and is from like forever 21 but bc of your wording its grouped with vintage clothes#anyway. none of this is really a big deal#like this is the most non-problem problem to have. but i just like bitching abt things and telling you my latest things im doing
