“University Robbed Of Platinum; Two Men Charged,” Toronto Globe. October 22, 1932. Page 13. --- Crucibles Valued at $600 Stolen From the Mining Building --- EMPLOYEE IS ARRESTED --- Charged with theft of platinum crucibles, valued at $600, from the Mining Building, Unoversity of Toronto, Hector Ross of 1159 Roselawn Avenue, was arrested last night by Detectives Waterhouse, Storm and Elliott.
Morris Shacknovis of 145 Shuter street, reported to be a mining man from South Africa, was arrested by the same detectives on a charge of receiving the stolen platinum. Ross was employed in the Mining Building, and had access to the key of a strong box in which the metal was kept, police said. In September he is alleged to have placed the metal in his coat pocket and walked out with it. Some of it had been disposed of in a second-hand shop. Detective Elliott located it, and with Detectives Waterhouse and Storm, followed up the information which resulted in the two arrests.
J. E. Toomer, Assistant Professor of Metallurgy of the University of Toronto, is named as the complainant. All the stolen platinum has not been recovered, detectives admitted.

kink-o-ween - day three
lance stroll - toys
cw: smut/pwp, mutual masturbation, sex toys, teasing/dirty talk, lance in love, (slight) jealousy
a/n: come as you are a real shop in toronto, and they're a co-op and very cool! so if you're in the canadian region and want some place to buy special toys. i'd suggest checking them out!
kink-o-ween: formula one edition - call of duty edition
Tumblr media
you enjoyed montreal, since you started seeing lance it had become a second city in the way. you obviously knew that it wasn't covered in snow all year, but to see the city in a sweltering heat of late summer was something else. but it was nice, being in the house that lance owned to spend the last days of summer break together.
but you knew that in the final days before the next leg of races, your boyfriend had a surprise for you. it came in a little pink box, unmarked of any logos, but what was inside sure excited you.
"i think most people just have sex." you remarked as you looked to your boyfriend. you were kneeling on the bed you shared all summer with a toy by your knees. it wasn't anything too special, even though the name of it made your ears hot. g-spot vibrator. this was supposed to hit in all the right places.
"i wanted yo try something different." he chuckled as he laid out on the foot of the bed, propped up on his elbow on his side. he was in loose sweatpants and a t-shirt from some promotion, "came all the way from toronto. from one of the best sex shops in the city." he chuckled. as if there weren't a million stores on st. catherines' alone.
come as you are was the name of the place. they were even nice enough to throw in information about how to use the toy and how to clean it. they seemed like nice people there.
"plus, i'm going to be gone soon and i don't need you getting cramps in your wrists from missing me too much." he chuckled, those dark eyes lingered on you barely clothed body.
nothing but panties and a shirt that made his logo stretch across your pretty titties. you looked at him and took the toy off the bed, "i guess i should get you something, so you don't pull something from jerking off so much during off time."
lance sat up and got his shirt off, "just fill a photo album of pretty pictures of you, babe. and i'll be set for the rest of the season." the toy laid between you two as you got undressed.
it felt weird to lie back with your legs spread out, practically in your boyfriend's lap with a pink silicon toy in your hand. you made eye contact with him before you slowly rubbed the toy up against your pussy. when you managed to get it on you felt your breath hitch in your throat.
lance was laid back at the foot of the bed his legs on either side of yours as he stroked his hard cock. this was a sight to see. his precious girlfriend, the one who he adored. he couldn't stop talking about you most of the time, now you were sinking a pretty toy into your sweet pussy.
while this wasn't traditional sex, it felt really good. your cheeks heated up as you moved the toy in and out of you. the vibrations made you nipples hard which only made lance's mouth water.
"how does it feel?" he asked as he continued to stroke his cock, "you look so good." he chuckled, "i hope he takes care of you while i'm gone. keeps you nice and busy while i'm winning for us."
you smiled a little, hiding your face with your other arm for a moment, "it feels good. i haven't had a sex toy since we started dating." you had fond memories of a lovely rabbit toy that you bought cheap in college. you peeked under your arm and said, "you became my favourite toy after that."
he chuckled before he spat in his hand and continued to stroke his cock. well, weren't you the romantic. he asked, "ah, so i guess i should toss it out then. don't want any competition."
you smiled at him before you let out another moan. you curled into yourself a little as you continued to work the toy against your g-spot. it made your toys curl. you replied, "no, no. sadly, as lovely as this toy is. i can't spend late nights talking to it, or have it cuddle me. it's a fat cry from you."
he leaned a little further back, bracing himself with his other hand while he pleasured himself. you looked beautiful. how your lips moved when the toy hit the right spot, how you jolted when you pulled it out and rubbed it against your clit. it was cute almost seeing you kick out your legs from the vibrations against your clit.
you could only put it on par with the time lance blew on your achy clit after what felt like hours of over-stimulation. it was the only time you almost kicked your boyfriend.
the two of you continued to pleasure yourselves. the toy felt really good, it was good quality that made you toys curl. you didn't want to think about the cost of it. lance liked to spend his money on you, something that made you frown. you didn't want to be the girlfriend who mooched off her successful man. but that was neither here nor there as you rubbed the toy up against your clit once more. stimulating and making your body grow more tense.
you could feel lance's hungry eyes on you as you dragged the toy back inside of you. allowing it to pleasure you in other ways. you moaned, "fuck, lance."
he chuckled softly as he felt the sweat on his neck from his own motions, "that's what you better say when you're playing with yourself." his voice was tinged with a little envy. but you only blushed more, you were the last person that would ever cheat. you were such the perfect girlfriend that lance could only get jealous of silicon and wiring.
you smiled at him, "don't worry, you'll both be called lance." you arched your back a little at the feeling. the pleasure was deep in your gut and moving through your blood. it left you feeling needy all over and you continued to pleasure yourself.
"you're such a-" he beamed at you.
you replied, "whatever you may call me, i'm still yours. through and through. and no little toy could ever prevent me from loving you. when you come back home, he'll be put back in the drawer. because i'll be too busy having the real thing." you then let out a sweet moan which only enticed your boyfriend more.
that was what he liked to hear. your love for him. it was something he yearned for at all times. he wanted to feel his beloved in every way he could have you. if he didn't give you the love and appreciation you deserved then he'd be a fool like no other. why fuck up perfection.
he held onto his cock a little tighter, pre-cum drooled all over his fist and he continued to masturbate in front of you. he drank in the sight of you like fine wine. you made his cock leaky and painfully hard, the sight of you pleasuring yourself.
"i love you." he said.
"i love you too." you giggled, your legs tensed up as you felt pleasure start to really circulate through you. you could feel your boyfriend's hungry gaze across your body. you wanted to shy away for a moment, but the intensity of his gaze on you made you excited.
you liked how lance looked at you, you didn't often feel like a goddess for worship (why would you?), but in the quietness of alone time with your boyfriend. you felt as beautiful as marble statues in a museum. a softness that could only be created with such delicate craftsmanship.
"you're beautiful." he said, "you better send me photos every day. doesn't even have to be of you naked. i just want to see you. you're my good luck charm." he attributed his better performance on the track to you being around him. when you hugged him and kissed him, you got your good luck all over him. you found it endearing, just like many other parts of him.
you tensed up a little more and felt yourself reach the peak of your climax. there was something different about getting to that high on your own. while lance did amazing work when he pleasured you. you knew your body better than he could so there climax was different. you arched your back a little and let out a sweet moan.
it only spurred your boyfriend to keep pleasuring himself as you rode out your orgasmic high. the sight of you was hot and left himself needy. he groaned at the sight of you climaxing. and he soon followed. he came all over his fist, cum dripping down his hand as he felt the tension course through him. when he finally relaxed and shakily exhaled.
"holy shit." he panted.
you chuckled and took the toy out of you. and laid there out on the bed. you drifted off for a moment and heard the tap run in the bathroom. but it wasn't long before you felt movement on the bed and when you opened your eyes, you were met with your boyfriend's big brown eyes looking down at you. he tossed the toy off the bed to be cleaned later.
"hey!" you said as he crowded your space.
"now." your boyfriend said as he kissed at your jaw, "let's see if i can one-up that toy." he rubbed his hardened cock up against your thigh, "don't want to get replaced."
you kissed him on the lips and said, "hmm, i don't know. it really did feel nice against my g-spot."
he licked his lips, "well then." he got between your legs and threw your ankles to your head, exposing your soaked cunt to him. he kissed at your slit and said, "i guess i better start now." <3

Somehow, the ill feeling of waiting until summer to see Jack again began to fade with each passing day. The itch to text him every time something exciting or infuriating happened to you began to lessen. The thoughts of him when you saw a funny meme he’d like, or your shared favourite foods on special at the grocery store, quietly stopped happening as frequently.
But then there were the things that didn’t stop. The sharp pain in your chest whenever Jack’s smiling face popped up on your social media feed. The butterflies in your stomach whenever your parents brought him up in conversation, fuelled by whatever the latest updates were from their group message thread with Jim and Ellen. The joy that would wash over you when you heard about a Devils win or a Jack Hughes goal, followed almost always by a wave of sadness that you were hearing about it second or third hand, rather than from Jack himself.
You were the one who’d asked for space. You needed time, you’d said. Given the blow up of All-Star weekend, all Jack was doing was respecting your wishes; but a huge part of you not so secretly wished he’d be a bit more disrespectful and reach out. Your mind was a mess of conflicting thoughts, and your heart wasn’t sure which emotion to feel or where to go next.
Since kindergarten, you’d barely gone more than a few days without seeing or communicating with Jack in some way. Now you were nearly a month without a word, and even though you were still mad at how he’d treated you, you were craving a return to the friendship you’d become so accustomed to. Jack knew you better than anyone, could basically read your mind with a single look, and although you had plenty of friends at college and still around in Toronto from high school, none came close to the camaraderie you shared with Jack. He was someone you could talk to for hours, or sit next to in silence for the same amount of time, it didn’t matter. With Jack, you could be utterly and entirely yourself, no complications. Now it felt like you were always pretending. And it was exhausting.
It was about 9pm on a Thursday night when you found yourself pushing through that exhaustion to try and complete yet another university assignment. For motherfucking economics. You couldn’t wait until you’d completed all of your compulsory economics credits because it was the absolute opposite of your cup of tea, when it came to academic subjects. This assignment was your last one, and you weren’t sure whether to cheer or cry at the idea of hitting the submit button on the online portal. Maybe you should’ve bought a confetti cannon to celebrate. Or a box of wine. Or booked yourself a flight somewhere fun, given you had a break from classes soon.
As soon as the thought of a trip crossed your mind, your phone began to buzz with an incoming video call. A video call from… Luke. Luke Hughes.
Your face scrunched in confusion, as you swiped to answer the call, met with Luke’s smiling face and messy curls.
“Hey sunshine! Long time no see. How have you been?” Luke spoke cheerily. Almost too cheerily.
You were immediately suspicious and narrowed your eyes at the youngest Hughes.
Luke was 3 years old when you met for the first time; he could barely remember a life without you in it. Given how inseparable you and Jack were, Luke became your de facto little brother, always tagging along where he could and joining in your adventures. Later on, when he became a teenager, you were the one Luke would come to when he was having issues with his friends, or trying to build up the courage to ask out the cute girl in his math class, or missing his brothers when they moved away. You were his second call after Ellen when he felt homesick at Michigan, and you were his first call when he had fucked up something that he felt his brothers would never let him live down. Emotional support and damage control, with a healthy dose of teasing and laughs thrown in. That was the dynamic between you and Luke. It also meant you could read him to filth when he was lying to you, and your honesty radar was through the roof at this sudden video call.
“I’m fine, Moose. Just trying to wrap up my final assignment before the break without losing my entire mind.” You offered weakly, half-expecting Luke to make a joke about your mind having been lost years ago, but the joke never came.
Instead, you saw the concern flicker across Luke’s face, just for a moment, before he forced a smile.
“How long is your break for? Any plans?”
“Three weeks, and not really. I promised my mother I’d spend a few days helping her with planning for their anniversary party in June, but that probably won’t happen until right before I go back to school.” You chatted absently, hitting save on your essay and standing up from the couch, bringing your phone with you as you moved into the kitchen to make yourself a drink.
You propped the phone up against the vase on your kitchen bench, reaching up into the cabinet to retrieve a glass.
“Well, you should come visit. We’ve got like 5 home games in a row or something ridiculous coming up. It’d be fun!” Luke’s tone was cheerful, but cautious, like he wasn’t sure how you were going to react.
You hummed in response, moving slightly out of view of your phone to get some ice cubes from your freezer and a soda from the fridge.
“Besides, I heard a rumour that you’ve got an airline voucher to use. I’d hate for it to expire or something.”
You could feel your heart starting to beat faster. Luke knew about the voucher. Did that mean Jack had told him about your fight?
“The voucher won’t expire for three years. I’m sure I’ll manage to use it before then.” You deadpanned, stepping back into frame to see Luke rolling his eyes at you.
“Yeah, sure, but will I survive that long without seeing you? Absolutely not. Come on, sugar. Please? Even if it’s just a weekend?” Luke had moved into full begging mode, with puppy dog eyes and everything.
You sighed, fidgeting with the straw in your drink and avoiding his gaze.
“I don’t… we haven’t talked at all, Luke. I don’t know what he’ll do if I just show up there.” You half-whispered, feeling that all-too-familiar wave of sadness coursing through your veins.
“He talked about you tonight at dinner. Says he misses you. But he doesn’t want to push, or not give you the space you wanted. But right now, he’s on the couch watching Gossip Girl, so…” Luke stated matter-of-factly, staring you down with a knowing look on your face.
Gossip Girl was something you’d insisted Jack get into when you were teenagers, as long as he “wanted to be called your official best friend”. And The OC. And Gilmore Girls. And One Tree Hill. And basically any other teen drama series you could think of. Collectively, those shows had thousands of episodes, and you always found yourself settling down to watch them whenever you were missing Jack more than usual. You’d never realised before that he did the same.
“Should… should we tell him I’m coming? I don’t want him to get upset by a bad surprise.”
“Not at all, sugar. Book the flight and send me the details, I’ll sort out the rest.” Luke’s beaming smile made a smile of your own creep onto your face, as you nodded at him and went to retrieve your laptop from the couch to log onto the airline website.
“Now that that’s sorted, I was wondering, what does it mean when a girl asks me what my sun, moon and rising are? Should I be worried? Or is it a good thing?”
–
Two days later, you were done with your semester and on your way to the airport. Luke had suggested you book a one-way flight, “That way, you can go home whenever you like!”, but you were starting to feel like the whole thing was a mistake.
Nonetheless, you pushed through those feelings and boarded your flight. The whole ordeal took less than two hours, and soon enough you found yourself navigating the arrivals area at Newark airport. You spotted Luke’s lanky figure, clad in a Michigan sweatshirt, with his back to you. You couldn’t help but creep up on him and poke his side, cracking up with laughter as Luke jumped at least three feet into the air. He’d always been the easiest to scare, ever since you were kids.
Luke cussed you out, and then pulled you into a bone-crushing hug.
“Missed your face, sugarplum.” Luke murmured, as you pulled away from each other and he rested his hands on your shoulders, studying you.
“Aw, Lukey. I’d say I’d missed yours too, but we really gotta do something about that hair.” You poked your tongue out as the youngest Hughes brother’s jaw dropped in mock offense.
You retrieved your bag from the luggage carousel, and headed out to where Luke had parked. The two of you fell into easy conversation as Luke navigated through the New Jersey streets back to the apartment he shared with Jack.
You managed to bury most of the nerves, but they came bubbling back to the surface when Luke pulled into the parking garage at the bottom of his building.
“Is… um… Is Jack home? Alone?” You managed to squeak out, and Luke looked at you like you were crazy.
Ever since All-Star weekend, you’d been having a recurring nightmare about Jack and the girl from the messages you’d accidentally become privy to. In particular, it was a scenario where you would come home from wherever you’d been out, and opened the apartment door to find them… entangled, on every possible surface you could think of. You felt yourself starting to feel ill as the images from your nightmares started to flash back into your mind.
“He’s alone. Ever since… ever since he came home early from All-Star, he’s been alone. None of the… usual visitors have been over. And he hasn’t been going to theirs, either. Not even when we’re on a roadie.” Luke said carefully, and you could tell he was trying not to upset you.
You could also tell that he was being honest. Because you could always tell when he was lying. But your mind was running a million miles a minute. Jack hadn’t… for a month? Because of his fight with you? You loved Jack, but you also knew (despite wishing that you didn’t know at all) that it had been years since he’d gone that long without intimacy. In fact, it was probably the longest since losing his virginity that Jack hadn’t fulfilled his desires.
Your mind was starting to wander into the gutter, and you pressed your eyes closed to bring yourself back to Earth. All you could do was nod at Luke, before you both hopped out of the car and into the elevator. Luke insisted on carrying your luggage, so you found yourself fidgeting incessantly with your hands as the elevator climbed to the correct floor.
You trailed behind Luke as he strode towards the apartment door and unlocked it, stepping inside and putting your bag down. He looked back and waved you into the apartment, pressing a finger to his lips. You tiptoed across the doorway, and your heart softened at the scene before you.
You could see the back of Jack’s head leaned up against the couch, and an episode of Gilmore Girls playing on the TV mounted on the wall. In fact, it was one of your favourite episodes; where Jess comes back and shows Rory the book he wrote, and calls her out for dropping out of Yale. You smiled ruefully as you thought about the parallels between that episode and your current situation with Jack, as the argument between Jess and Rory played out on the screen.
What do you mean?
You know what I mean! I know you. I know you better than anyone! This isn't you!
…
This isn't you! This! You going out with this jerk, with the Porsche! We made fun of guys like this!
You caught him on a bad night.
This isn't about him! Okay? Screw him! What's going on with you? This isn't you, Rory. You know it isn't. What's going on?
I don't know. I don't know…
“Are we Team Jess or Team Rory this time, Jacky?” Luke called out, making you jump.
“Team Jess all the way, obviously. Where have you bee-” Jack stopped dead in his tracks as he turned to face his brother, and instead saw you in the middle of his living room.
Jack’s face was a revelation. Confusion, at first. Then the briefest flash of hurt and anguish. Then a smile. Then caution and uncertainty, as he slowly stepped towards you.
You let a breath you hadn’t realised you were holding, and quickly moved across the room, clumsily throwing your arms around your best friend. You felt Jack freeze momentarily, almost as if he was shocked at your touch, but that soon passed and you felt his hands slide around your waist and squeeze, bringing your bodies as close together as possible.
You nestled your head on Jack’s shoulder, breathing in his scent. His thumbs softly rubbed up and down your side, and you felt him press a soft kiss into your hair. You stayed like that for a minute, or maybe longer, relaxing into the embrace.
The sound of the apartment door slamming shut made you jolt, and you rolled your eyes as you realised that Luke had tried to sneak way unnoticed and failed miserably.
“Hi.” Jack whispered, pulling back from you slightly but keeping his hands locked around you.
“Hi.” You whispered back, reaching up to brush his hair out of his eyes.
“Is it still shit hair? Or better now it’s longer?” Jack teased, rolling his tongue between his teeth.
“Better. But only slightly.” You teased back, your hands slipping down to the back of his neck comfortably.
The warmth of the surprise arrival was starting to fade. The dread you’d felt over addressing your fight with Jack was starting to set in, fast. The guilt you felt for being the catalyst for over a month for not speaking to your best friend was washing over you. Your heart rate was through the roof, and your palms were beginning to sweat.
Jack sensed your change in mood, and pulled away from you to look you up and down.
“Are you hungry? Do you want to shower? Or take a nap?” He was nervous, too.
“I ate before my flight. And showered this morning. And it’s 11am, so I think I’m good on the nap front. But I do think we should… we should talk. About everything.” You were basically tripping over your words at this point, but Jack’s reassuring nod helped to calm your nerves.
Wordlessly, Jack took your hand and led you over to the couch, gesturing for you to sit. You sat down and faced him, crossing your legs and resting your hands on your knees, still fidgeting with your hoodie sleeves.
“I’m sorry - “ You both said unanimously, a gentle laughter filling the room.
“I’m sorry I needed so much time apart, J. It fucking sucked, and it was my fault, and I just didn’t -” You began to ramble, only stopping when Jack leaned over and squeezed your knee reassuringly.
“You only needed that time because I was an asshole, sugar. It’s on me, really. I had no right to treat you like an occasional friend, or something that I shouldn’t prioritise -” Jack paused as you cringed, remembering the text messages that referred to his time with you as “boring family bullshit”.
“I was thinking with my dick, not with my head, and that’s not fair on anyone.” You shot Jack a weird look, and he looked sheepish in return.
“Quinn… Quinn said that to me. After you told him to tell me about the messages. He’s right, thought. It wasn’t fair.” Jack continued, pausing to take a deep breath.
“This whole… thing, this life -” Jack gestured broadly at the apartment around you, and you glanced around properly for the first time. Framed jerseys of Luke and Jack’s adorned the walls.Various photos of the Hughes family scattered about the place. The fridge, with a gas bill stuck to it, along with a polaroid of you and Jack from last Christmas. And a photo from your senior prom. And a group photo of everyone from last summer at the lake house, Jack’s mouth open in laughter with his arm slung over your bikini-clad shoulders.
“It’s all I thought I ever wanted. And it’s amazing, and I’m so grateful. But it’s worth nothing to me, the money, the girls -” You felt yourself involuntarily cringe again. “The fame, the accolades, it’s worth nothing to me without the people that I love by my side. And if those people don’t know how much I love and appreciate them, because I treat them like shit, then that’s on me. No one else. Me.”
You sat quietly, taking in Jack’s emphatic statement. You weren’t quite sure what to say. So instead, you gently reached over and took Jack’s hand in yours, lacing your fingers through his and squeezing softly, for a moment while you gathered your thoughts.
“I know the life you live, Jack. You don’t have to be sorry for it. Playing hockey was all you ever dreamed of, and I honestly can’t blame you for… enjoying… all the perks it comes with.” You swallowed the wave of nausea that hit you, before continuing.
“I don’t… I don’t know what life looks like without you in it. The last month was such a bizarre experience, and not one that I ever want to repeat, but I also… I need to… Can I be honest?” You spoke softly, glancing up from your hands to meet Jack’s gaze, and he nodded encouragingly at you.
“I wasn’t just upset because you made me feel like I was inconveniencing you, or cock-blocking you -” It was Jack’s turn to cringe. “I think I was upset because I was jealous. Because that will never, ever be me. And I think… I think I want it to be? Maybe? Fuck, I don’t know!” You dropped Jack’s hand and stood up from the couch, and started to pace the room.
“Sugar, please sit down.” Jack pleaded, and you paused, looking back at him on the couch. One look was all you needed, and you narrowed your eyes at the smirk on his dumb face.
“Why are you smirking? I am experiencing emotional distress, you asshole.” You seethed, running your hands through your hair in frustration.
“Tell me more about this jealousy thing. I’m intrigued.” Jack’s tone was light and teasing, and washed over you like sour milk. Your head whipped in his direction and your face must’ve said a thousand words, because Jack’s smirk soon disappeared and he hurriedly stood up and walked over, reaching out to touch you.
“See, this -” You jabbed a finger into Jack’s chest. “This is why I have avoided this conversation for almost my entire life. Because you think it’s hilarious that we could ever go down that path. That we could ever be something more than what we are. Because I’m not good enough,or pretty enough, or just enough and I never will be, and I hate it. I hate it so much.” Your voice cracked on the last few words, and you felt the hot tears start to bubble out of your eyes and stream down your face.
Jack didn’t say a word. He didn’t have to. He pulled you into a hug, bringing his hand up to your face and gently brushing away the tears with his thumbs.
“Breathe, sugar. You need to calm down.” Jack said quietly, willing you to calm. That just made you cry harder.
You were about to pull away, when you felt Jack cup your face with both hands, before leaning in to kiss you.

summary: Auston has just been named the newest captain of the Toronto Maple Leafs, and while you worry about pulling off a surprise dinner, Auston has his own surprise in store for you
Watching from the front row with Auston’s family, you tried your best to not get emotional. Partially because of not wanting to ruin your makeup, but the other half of you knowing Auston would surely laugh at you for it.
Auston had just been named the newest captain of the Toronto Maple Leafs, which was such an amazing accomplishment for him still so young in his career. John Tavares shook his hand as he presented Auston with the jersey, the two of them posing together before Auston did a few solo shots.
You smiled at him as you clapped along with the crowd, his eyes finding yours as he shot you a wink. His smile was bright as he held the jersey proudly. The news was not something he’d necessarily expected, but he was so honored to accept.
He’d come home from meetings earlier in the week, to which you assumed were standard team business. But as he greeted you in the kitchen asking to sit you down, you had grown nervous that he was delivering some bad news.
-
“Hey baby, smells good.”
Auston kissed your lips as you were preparing lunch. Wrapping his arms around your waist as he rested his head on your shoulder. Watching your hands as they were busy chopping up some veggies for the dish you were making.
“Is it too much to ask you to pause for a quick second? I’ve gotta talk to you.”
You’d dropped the knife almost immediately, his tone of voice catching you off guard as you grew nervous fast. Turning in the grip of his arms to face him you wiped your hands with a towel.
“Is everything okay?”
He softly smiled as he took your hand, leading you to the couch as he sat you down before taking a seat on the coffee table in front of you. His hands held tight to yours as he looked at the floor.
“Auston, baby, hurry up I’m freaking out inside! And lunch is gonna burn!”
He chuckled as he brought your hands to his lips, kissing them both before he finally opened his mouth to speak.
“So, as you know I had several meetings recently with the team, and it’s nothing bad. It’s actually pretty amazing, honestly. And today, they let me know that they are looking to take the organization in a new direction this season. That new direction is gonna start with me.”
Despite him telling you this was good news, it hadn’t yet sounded like anything good. It started to sound like somehow Auston was being traded with the way he chose to phrase this.
“You’re looking at the newest captain of the Toronto Maple Leafs.”
Your jaw fell to the floor as you stared at him, his smile grew from ear to ear as he watched your reaction. The tears subconsciously welled in your eyes as you were overcome with emotion, wanting to scream and run around the house. But also just wanting to hug him tight and never let him go.
“Auston, stop. You’re serious?”
He nodded his head laughing at your disbelief, “yes, hand to god baby.”
“Babe! I’m so proud of you!”
Jumping up from the couch you wrapped your arms around him as he stood up, lifting you off your feet as he hugged you. Your legs wrapping around his waist as you peppered his face with kisses. Auston just laughed at your reaction, carrying you back towards the kitchen as he saw a pot of water boiling on the stove.
“Auston this is amazing! Oh my gosh, we have to celebrate!”
He set you down as he tended to the boiling pot, stirring the water that was tasked with cooking some rice before he turned down the flame.
“Well, not yet. It hasn’t been announced yet. So we have to wait until next week to do any celebrating after the official reveal and announcement by the Leafs.”
You playfully groaned with a roll of your eyes as you wrapped your arms around him, hugging him tight as you were so in awe of him.
“Fine, I guess I’ll wait a week to let everyone know how amazing you are and how proud I am of you. I love you baby, and I’m seriously so fucking proud of you!”
-
Now the day was finally here to celebrate.
As Auston came down from the stage, the press conference now over, he stopped to hug each of his friends and family in the front row. Leaving you for last as he walked up with the biggest smile on his face.
“I told you no crying allowed today, you’re such a softie baby.”
He wrapped his arms around you as he chuckled, his teasing just making you smile as you couldn’t help your emotions. He kissed your lips before taking your hand in his as he continued through the room to greet and thank other familiar faces for coming.
Auston had kept you by his side for the remainder of the post-press conference festivities, his arm wrapped around your waist as his thumb traced circles over the fabric of your dress. You found it hard not to be in awe of him. To know all of these people were there to support him, to support this new chapter of the organization that was starting with him. To know they believed in a future with him as captain, it made you so proud to call him your boyfriend and get to the by his side throughout this new journey.
“You look stunning tonight baby.”
Auston pulled you in for a kiss as the two of you waited for the elevator, the press conference finally coming to an end after much media attention and thank you’s were expressed to the guests.
“And you look so handsome, Mr. Captain.”
You jokingly teased the nickname, still feeling like it wasn’t real as Auston simply rolled his eyes with a smile. Knowing that were surely going to enjoy that nickname a little too much, but he’d get over it.
The two of you took the elevator down to the parking garage, climbing into Auston’s car as he quickly replied to a couple texts before starting it up.
“Where to for dinner babe?”
You hadn’t told Auston but you planned a surprise celebratory dinner at one of his favorite restaurants for his family and closest friends. The secret was not an easy one to keep as he could usually sniff out a surprise from a mile away, and you were worried he had possibly found out from a teammate to ruin it.
“I actually arranged dinner for us tonight, as a little surprise for you.”
Auston looked at you with a smirk before backing out of his parking spot, it wasn’t that he didn’t like you making plans, he just loved being the one to spoil and take care of you so it never ceased to shock him when you did the same for him.
“Really? You arranged dinner? That’s a nice surprise, where to?”
You’d plugged the directions into his GPS for the restaurant, growing nervous that maybe he’d found out from someone about the surprise. Trying not to give Auston any sign that you were nervous as you sat in the passenger seat as his hand rested on your thigh, the only thing keeping you calm.
“Wow, I forgot how beautiful this place is. We haven’t been here in awhile, I’m excited.”
He leaned over giving you a kiss before you exited the vehicle for valet, Auston taking your hand in his as he led you up the small set of stairs to the restaurant. The hostess greeted you as you gave her the name of your reservation, soon following behind as she led you to the private back room.
You could feel your hand beginning to sweat in Auston’s grip, knowing that it wasn’t the end of the world if the surprise flopped, but you wanted to do this special for him.
Pulling him close to you as you approached the doors to the secluded dining room, you took a deep breath, anticipation slowly building to see his reaction to the room of people.
“Here you two are, right in here!”
The hostess beamed with a smile as you two turned the corner, the small group of friends and family instantly cheering as you came into their view. Auston immediately rolling his eyes with a smile, completely caught off guard by the surprise as he looked at you laughing.
“You did this? Baby, you’re amazing. Oh my gosh.”
He pulled you in for a kiss, wrapping his arms around you to be sure and let you feel how appreciative he was for the surprise. His hands cupping your face as he kissed you once more.
“Thank you baby, this is so special. I love you.”
“I love you too, Aus.”
Auston moved to mingle with the group which included his family, a handful of his teammates that were at his press conference, and a few close friends both from the league and from back home.
You took a seat next to Auston’s mom as you finally felt you could relax, a glass of wine immediately in hand as she offered you cheers in congratulations.
“You did it! Now you can relax and enjoy the night.”
A sigh leaving your lips as you nodded in agreement. So thankful that you’d managed to pull off the surprise, despite it being something small and intimate. You watched as Auston greeted his friends that flew into town, a big smile on his face as they all congratulated him on his captaincy. The only word to describe how you felt in the moment was proud, and you wouldn’t want to be anywhere else in the world than by his side.
“Everyone, if I could just take a second of your time before we wrap up the night.”
Auston stood at the front of the room as he gathered the attention of the group, smiling as some of his teammates were chanting for him to make a speech. To which he just playfully shook his head.
“I just wanted to thank each and every one of you for coming tonight, this means so much to me and it was such a pleasant surprise. I’m really excited for this new journey, and honored to be given this opportunity to be captain and I hope I can make the city proud, the fans proud, but also each of you proud so thank you. Lastly, y/n.”
Auston wasn’t an emotional person, but as he looked at you, you swore you saw him getting choked up or teary eyed.
“I don’t know how you pulled this off, mostly because I’m the biggest snoop and always ruin surprises. But this is incredible, and it means so much to me. You have been my rock for so many years, and to know I get to have you by my side as I navigate this new journey, I know that no matter what happens, I’ll be great as long as I’ve got you. So thank you babe, I love you.”
Auston raised a glass to you and the room as everyone reciprocated, all talking a drink together before a final cheer of the room erupted and everyone gathered their things to head out.
You and Auston had stayed to see all of the guests out before leaving, making sure to thank everyone individually once again. Finally heading home after what felt like the longest day, but one you would never forget.
You’d been quiet on the drive, Auston knowing it was a mixture of wine drunk and being tired, so he didn’t bother you much. His hand resting on your thigh as his thumb traced circles over the fabric, a smile on his face as you eventually laced your fingers with this.
“I’m so proud of you baby.”
He chuckled at your somewhat slowed speech from the wine, pulling your hand to his lips as he kissed the back of it. Before resting it on his thigh for the remainder of the drive.
“Thank you, for that, and for tonight. It was amazing, you’re amazing. Tonight was definitely nothing short of amazing.”
The fingernails of your free hand traced up and down his forearm as he pulled into the driveway of your shared home. Parking the car in the driveway before heading over to your door to help you out, but he’d soon realize the wine had certainly kicked your ass tonight.
“Aus, I cannot get out of this car. My heels won’t let me.”
He shook his head as he reached for your hands, helping you out of the car with a chuckle, the reaching back in to grab your bag that was sitting on the floor.
“Seems like someone calmed their nerves with a little red wine tonight huh?”
Pouting your face at him playfully you let out a sigh, doing your best to get yourself into the house on your own as a protest to his joking. Though only making it two steps before stumbling and needing Auston to steady you.
“Gosh baby, falling for me all over again?”
He playfully winked as he helped you regain your composure, laughing as you rolled your eyes at his awful joke.
“Auston Taylour Matthews I swear to-Ah!”
Without warning he scooped you off your feet, earning a slightly shocked yelp from you. A chuckle of embarrassment followed as he carried you inside, taking you into the kitchen where he set you onto the island as he began to work at figuring out the straps on your heels.
“Aus you’re never gonna get them off, just let me.”
“Hush, if I can figure out a bra strap one handed I can get a strap off on a heel.”
You rolled your eyes laughing at his choice of words, watching as he miraculously got the heels off in record time. Tossing them to the side, then resting his hands on either side of your hips as he smiled down at you.
“You were saying?”
He playfully pecked your lips as your fingers played with the chains that were peeking out from under his dress shirt.
“To be honest, you don’t always figure out the bra straps, you’ve definitely just ripped a few bras off of me from time to time.”
Auston rolled his eyes as he discarded his suit jacket, tossing it into the back of the couch before rejoining you in the kitchen.
“Semantics!”
His fingers played with the fabric of your dress at your hips as he placed kisses along your exposed collar bone. His demeanor becomes a bit more timid before you as he wraps his arms around your waist, pulling you into his chest.
Your hands now resting at the back of his neck, fingers playing with his hair as you both just sat in this moment, enjoying the first real opportunity to just be with one another after such a long day.
“Baby?”
“Hmm?”
As you hummed your response, Auston pulled himself from you as he let out a sigh. The look on his face makes you nervous despite your wine buzz that has overtaken you. His expression was one you couldn’t exactly read as he took your hands in his, the anticipation causing your heart to race.
“Aus, what is it? You’re making me nervous!”
You giggled to hopefully calm his nerves, to which he apologized, not trying to scare you. With another sigh, he took your hands in his as he smiled at you.
“I’m just so incredibly thankful for you. For this night, and every night I get with you. Today was such a long day, of course exciting, but also tiring. And to be able to come home and spend moments like this with you, it’s the best thing in the world.”
You wanted to blame the wine for the tears you felt forming, but knew that would be a lie, your emotions always so easy to elicit when it came to Auston.
“Auston, thank you baby. That means so much to me, I’m so thankful to get to do this with you and be by your side.”
He nodded at you as his own tears were now in his eyes, catching you off guard as he was rarely one to cry. Your hands immediately went to his face to wipe his tears, making him laugh as he could barely get any words out.
“I’m okay, I just. I’ve realized over these last few weeks, that you truly are the best thing that’s ever happened to me. You are by my side through the best times, but more importantly the worst times and the toughest times. And in this new chapter, being captain, I have no idea what that will bring for me. But I know that I can’t do any of it without you by my side.”
You were hanging on every last word as he spoke, trying not to ugly cry at the kitchen island as you knew he’d surely poke fun at you for it, but the moment was certainly getting the best of you.
As Auston paused, he opened up the drawer at the counter behind him, taking a deep breath before he turned back to face you. Your eyes immediately searched for what he’d pulled from the drawer.
“Y/n, baby, I know now that you’re my person. I’ve known from the day I met you that you were it for me. You have made me a better man, and I want to continue to be that man for you now and forever. I’m ready to start a new journey with you, to make a promise to love and cherish you forever, to start a family and grow old with you. So, y/n—“
Auston’s arm moved from behind his back to reveal a small black box, with the most amazing ring you’d ever seen. A gasp leaving your lips as you were now certainly ugly crying, but you didn’t care. The emotions overtaking you as you were too stunned to speak.
“Will you marry me?”
Without any hesitation you nodded your head, nervous that if you went to speak you’d say the wrong thing or no words would come out. Auston jokingly confirming with you that you did in fact want to say yes, you simply couldn’t form the words.
He slid the ring on your finger as you could barely hold still, shaking at the sight of the symbol that represented everything he’d just spoken but also so much more.
You immediately pulled him in for a kiss, never wanting to let him go. To stay in this exact moment forever and ever, feeling so in love and on top of the world.
“Oh my god, Auston I can’t believe this!”
You shrieked as you threw your arms around his neck, Auston picking you from the counter as he spun you around. Peopering your face with kisses as he carried you down the hall and towards the staircase to head upstairs.
As he laid you down in bed, you couldn’t stop staring at the ring, earning a sarcastic groan from him as he began to discard his dress shirt. Soon climbing into bed as he hovered over you, peppering your face with kisses before moving down to your neck. His eyes looking up to see you still stealing glances at the ring while you tried to enjoy the moment with Auston.
“Babe, if you can’t stop starting I’m gonna take it away.”
You quickly averted your gaze from your hand, pulling his face up to yours in a kiss that was at first soft and apologetic but soon turned deep and passionate as Auston’s hands snaked up your dress and explored each and every one of your curves. A hand stopping to cup your cheek as he took control of the kiss, his tongue fighting yours for dominance to which you obliged. Smirking against his lips as he slowly pulled away, but not without a playful nibble at your bottom lip.
“I love you Auston Matthews.”
“And I love you, Mrs. Auston Matthews.”

ahhh i love this!!!! can you write a part two where jospeh and her get together?
Tumblr media
Part One
A few days pass, and you settle into your new routine in Toronto—commuting to work, unpacking boxes at night, and texting your brothers so they don’t spiral into panic mode. Quinn sends daily reminders to call him ("Just checking in. You know, in case you need anything.") while Jack and Luke spam you with memes and updates on the season.
You’ve made some progress on the apartment, though it’s far from finished. Most of your furniture is where it should be, but little things—like the half-built IKEA chair leaning precariously in the corner—serve as reminders that moving alone is no small task.
And then there’s Joseph Woll.
You’ve seen him twice more since that first encounter at the coffee shop. Once at a grocery store—he was leaving as you entered, exchanging a quick nod of acknowledgment. The second time was at a local park, where he was tossing a football with a friend. Both times, the same flicker of recognition danced in his eyes. There was no mistaking it: He knows who you are.
Or at least, he thinks he does.
Tonight, you find yourself back at that coffee shop, craving more than just caffeine. It’s a haven, a slice of warmth amidst the chill of October in Toronto. You step inside, shoulders relaxing as you inhale the familiar scent of espresso and cinnamon.
And there he is again. Same spot by the window. Same baseball cap. But this time, there’s no phone in his hands—just a book, pages slightly dog-eared at the corners.
Your heart kicks up a notch, and before you can second-guess yourself, you walk over.
"Hey," you say, balancing your latte between your hands. "Do I know you from somewhere?"
He looks up slowly, a small, easy smile spreading across his face. "I was wondering when you’d say something."
His voice is smooth, familiar in a way you can’t quite place. He tilts his head, studying you with an amused glint in his hazel eyes.
"You’re one of the Hughes’ siblings, right?" he asks, and when you blink in surprise, he chuckles. "Thought so. I’m Joseph. Woll. I play against Jack and Quinn sometimes."
Recognition clicks. Of course. He’s the goaltender—the one Luke mentioned a few times, usually with a mix of admiration and frustration.
"Right," you say, grinning now. "The goalie who always makes Jack question his career choices."
"That’s the one." Joseph’s smile widens, and the warmth in it takes you by surprise.
You settle into the seat across from him, sipping your latte. "Small world, huh?"
"Toronto’s a big city, but the hockey world? Tiny," he replies with a smirk. "So, what brings you here? Don’t tell me you moved just to spy on the Leafs for your brothers."
You laugh, and for the first time since moving, it feels genuine and easy. "I swear I didn’t. New job, new start. The usual stuff."
Joseph leans back in his chair, nodding thoughtfully. "That’s brave, making a move like that."
"Yeah, well, I figured if Luke can survive playing with the Devils, I can survive Toronto," you joke, earning a low chuckle from him.
The conversation flows naturally—about hockey, life, and the chaos of navigating adulthood in new cities. With every passing minute, the awkwardness you expected to feel around a semi-famous stranger melts away. There’s something easy about Joseph, like talking to someone you’ve known for years.
When the barista calls out for closing time, you glance at the clock, surprised by how quickly the hours slipped by.
"Guess I should let you get back to your book," you say, standing reluctantly.
"Or," Joseph offers with a crooked grin, "we could grab a drink somewhere that doesn’t kick us out at nine."
You hesitate for only a second before nodding. "Yeah. I’d like that."
The night stretches on as the two of you wander from bar to bar, trading stories and laughter under the glow of Toronto’s city lights. And somewhere along the way, you realize that maybe, just maybe, this city isn’t so big and lonely after all.
Because, as it turns out, you’re not starting over entirely on your own—you just didn’t know it yet.

Lego Surprises - Joseph Woll
Tumblr media
summary: after the news of the injury, you had a surprise up your sleeve for your boyfriend...
You wake up to the soft glow of sunlight streaming through the window, a warm weight pressed against your side. For a brief moment, you think it might be your pet, but as you turn your head to the side, you find yourself staring into a pair of familiar blue eyes. Joseph Woll. The 25-year-old goalie from St. Louis, Missouri, who plays for the Toronto Maple Leafs. The same Joseph Woll who's been nursing a high ankle sprain for the past few weeks and has been nothing but a grumpy mess since.
Your heart swells with gratitude as you remember the Lego set you'd seen him eyeing at the store the other day. You knew he'd been a fan of Legos for as long as you'd known him, and it was the perfect way to cheer him up. You carefully extracted yourself from under the covers and slipped out of bed, careful not to wake him up.
You crept silently into the living room, your bare feet padding softly against the hardwood floor. The sunlight streaming through the window cast a warm, golden glow over everything, making the room feel alive with possibility. You picked up the Lego box from the coffee table. You admired it for a moment, savoring the anticipation of giving it to him.
You heard a rustle from the bedroom and hurried back to your spot by the window, pretending to be engrossed in a book. A few seconds later, Joseph shuffled into the living room, still half-asleep. His hair stuck up every which way, and his eyes were bleary with sleep, but a slow smile spread across his face as he saw the Lego set on the table.
"Wha-what's this?" he mumbled, his voice thick with sleep.
"Just something I thought you might like," you said, trying to sound casual. "No pressure to open it now, or anything."
Joseph looked at you, his expression shifting from surprise to gratitude. "Are you serious?" he asked, his voice cracking slightly. "Thank you, that's… that's really nice of you."
You shrugged, feeling a blush creep up your neck. "It's no big deal. I just thought it might help take your mind off of things for a while."
Joseph laughed, the sound filling the room and making you feel warm all over. "Well, in that case, I think I'll open it right now." He carefully tore open the wrapping paper, revealing the massive Lego set inside. It was the Millennium Falcon, the most expensive and detailed Lego set Joseph had ever wanted.
Your heart swelled with pride as you watched his eyes widen with excitement. "I can't believe you did this," he whispered, his voice barely above a whisper. "This is amazing."
You smiled, feeling a warmth spread through your chest. "I'm just glad it made you happy. Now, what do you say we build something together?" You asked, gesturing to the box of bricks. "I could use a distraction from everything too."
Joseph looked up at you, a sparkle of excitement in his eyes. "Really?" he asked, unable to hide his excitement. "That would be amazing."
You nodded, feeling a warmth spread through your chest. "Of course. I mean, I'm not the best at Lego, but I'm sure I could learn."
Joseph's face lit up, and he excitedly clapped his hands. "Really? That would be great! I've been wanting to build this for so long!" He scooped up a handful of bricks and started examining them, his brow furrowed in concentration. "Okay, so here's how it goes…"

Betty does not come from money at all. Betty falls under the semi low-income family. They live in an apartment that is located in one of the not so great areas in Toronto. Her mother works at a hair salon where sometimes she has to remind her boss to pay her. And her father works as a customer service rep for a cell phone company. Majority of Betty’s clothes are second-hand through her cousins or from a thrift store. The only newest thing Betty owns is a pair of DC shoes that her father got her last month that were on sale.

TIMING: August 29th, 2014, 2017, 2023 LOCATION: Toronto, Ontario (2014, 2017) & Wicked's Rest, Maine (2023) SUMMARY: It's Thea's birthday and she's hungry. (POTW: Once in a Blue Moon) CONTENT WARNINGS: Vomit tw, teeth trauma tw, child death tw, some implicit fatphobia
2014
Cynthia had never seen so much junk food piled up in one place. There were family sized bags of Lay’s chips, plates full of cookies, a tray of brownies, two boxes of garlic bread from the pizza place Cynthia’s dad liked accompanied by a pepperoni pizza from the same place. Someone brought char siu bao, Cynthia’s favourite--probably her aunt. Plates and plates of noodles and fried rice weighed their poor, plastic picnic table down, bending it worryingly in centerfold. She’d happily, though politely, filled her first plate; taking a small assortment of everything offered and doing her best not to dribble saliva everywhere when she asked who brought what so she could remember to thank her family accordingly. The first plate was always strategy; sampling the waters to see what was good before the full, filling second plate and if she was daring, a third. It was her birthday, after all. Maybe it was a third plate kind of day.
Cynthia reached down to pull a plump pork bun into her plate when she heard someone grumble from behind her. Instantly, she recognised the sound: it was a deep rumble that summoned itself from the dark pits of the lungs, an animal sound that no one else could recreate. “Nainai.” Cynthia twisted, smiling at her grandmother.
Her grandmother, her father’s mother, was a thin woman with pale skin that stretched over her face in thick folds. Age had turned her spine down, forcing her into a hunch she resented and  twisted her clear voice into a growling like an angry dog. She wasn’t often a pleasant woman, but her love for her children and their children wasn’t a topic that ever needed to be debated; birthday and Chinese New Year envelopes of cash were always stuffed full. She reached down and took the skin around Cynthia’s hip and squeezed.
Cynthia’s smile faltered. “Nainai,” she said, continuing in broken Mandarin; a child’s voice even though she was certifiably a teenager now, “are you having fun?”
“You are,” her grandmother responded, turning her pinch into a poke. “You’re too old for this now.”
Cynthia frowned, the used plate in her hand wobbled as pain erupted from her grandmother’s prodding fingers. The bun slipped from her hand and joined its friends on the plate. “Too old?”
Her grandmother pulled the plate from her hands. “Once is enough.” And then she was gone, dissolved into the bodies of her family and their friends.
Cynthia didn’t know what to do, her stomach wasn’t satisfied. During the night, she thought it was eating her from the inside, trying to feed itself on her paltry flesh.
2023
Thea had a system, a technique. There was a method to wrapping hardware-store-chain around a tree, slipping inside, and then pulling it tight around her. Most of the time, it worked. Sometimes, she didn’t do it right. One time she ripped the tree out from the ground, roots and all. Bit by bit, she was perfecting her strategy. Having her body snap into a new shape every month wasn’t something she could get used to and it would never be something she liked, but there was peace to be found in the mundane actions of a practiced routine.
She’d tried everything: crates, rooms, basements, handcuffs, gorging herself on meats prior to the turn, sleeping pills, a cave, a roof, asking really nicely, crying, prayer, looking up cures online, cages, making herself look like an idiot by asking for cures in person, some restraints that definitely seemed like they were for kinky sex stuff. Nothing worked but her technique made it easier. If she went deep into the woods, found the thickest tree, kept a bag with a change of clothes nearby (scented strongly with oranges so she could find it through the stench of leaves and dirt) she could manage something. She’d still eat something, she’d still hope that something wasn’t human, she’d still hurt, but she could go home and crawl into bed and forget about it.
“Happy birthday to me.” Thea pulled her dirty green backpack closer, unzipping the top pocket and pulling out a single cupcake contained in a plastic box. At the store, she thought a candle would have been overkill but now she missed the drama of blowing one out and she could certainly use the wish. Sugar filled her nose, followed by the punch of strawberry jam; her sense of smell turned even the greatest delicacies into a nightmare of sensations. Sugar was too sweet, it made her teeth ache just thinking about it; fruits were tart; spice was a fire shoved into her nostrils. If it wasn’t her birthday, she wouldn’t have gotten it but traditions were traditions and nothing brough Thea more peace.
Her tongue darted out, lapping up the whipped cream and pulling it into her drooling mouth. The fat melted against her tongue as sugar coated her teeth. All the delicate air that had been whipped into it disappeared as it went down her throat, cooling her esophagus. She unclenched her jaw, eager for another bite when she heard it.
Snap.
Probably just an animal.
Crunch. Heartbeats that went quickly: thump-thump-thump. Laughter.
Thea paled and from the row of trunks in front of her, three heads popped out, each of their gazes snapping on to her. Laughter died from their lips and smiles turned thin. Thea thought she might laugh instead, the three of them looked like something out of an outdoor equipment catalogue: a handsome, tall man with the sort of square jaw that seemed to only exist in fiction; a more attractive, tastefully not-as-tall-as-the-man woman with her blonde hair tied up into a ponytail that betrayed none of the effort of hiking; and a child with soft blonde hair that fell around his head in tiny waves and big, watery brown eyes; each of them wore blue hiking gear, and both of the adults carried big bags while the man wheeled around a cooler. The child ran at the woman’s legs, clutching her calf tightly. They looked like the sort of people that people missed; the sort of people that made sensational headlines, tacky true crime documentaries, conspiracy theory youtube videos.
Thea hadn’t smelled anyone on her way up but it was hard to pick scents out from the cacophony of them that she got constantly. She hadn’t heard them either, not until they were right here, and she wasn’t very good at picking sounds out from the barrage of little nature noises.
Thea balked. “I--um…”
The man spoke up first: “Hello,” he said. “Can we help you?”
“It’s uh…” Thea wasn’t a good liar on the best of her days, on the worst of them she could give a puddle a run for its money. Instantly, cool sweat pooled in the small of her back and her palms felt sticky. “I’m, uh…” She remembered an episode of The Simpsons where Lisa lived in a tree so they wouldn’t cut it down. “Environment conservation,” she said.
The man nodded slowly. “Are they going to cut that tree down?” He didn’t seem to believe her, Thea could tell because she heard his heartbeat quicken and she smelled sharp sweat--though, that could have just been her.
“Yes,” she said quickly. “That’s exactly it!”
“Okay.” The woman pushed the man forward, stabbing her hiking stick into the dirt as she moved along.
Above, the sky darkened. The sweat that concentrated on her back now pushed out from every pore, running down her body in thick rivulets. “Uh,” she called out, “wait.”
The woman didn’t want to stop but the man turned to her, using his body to block the child and the woman.
“It, uh, It isn’t safe here,” she said, “bears.”
The man tapped a can on his belt: “bear mace” it read. Of course, they seemed like they had all the bells and whistles of a responsible camper.
“N-no, I’m serious.” Thea tried again. “Like, super serious! It’s really dangerous! You have to go back. You have to go the other way.”
The man nodded slowly again, his eyes narrowed. “Why are you here then?”
She didn’t have a good answer for that.
They turned to leave once more and Thea jerked against her chain, her cupcake slipped from her hands and sunk into the dirt. “No!” she shrieked, wincing at the shrillness of her voice. The family continued to move. Above, the burning edge of the sunset was dissolving into blue. Thea lurched against the chain again and the metal gouged into her flesh, slicing her clothes and pinching her muscles. “No! I’m serious! Go the other way! Go back!”
They continued to push through the trees. Above the crackle of leaves under their perfect hiking boots and the pulse raging in Thea’s ears, she heard the woman say: “we should pitch the tent before it gets dark.”
And the man: “I don’t want to be anywhere near the girl.”
The woman: “It’s getting dark, we don’t have a choice.”
“No!” Thea howled, twisting and pulling on the chains; her technique was too good, she couldn’t get out. She writhed against the tree, bark scraped her back, digging in like the claws of an animal. The chains seem to tighten with each motion; they squeezed against her bones and her body erupted with aches and sharp stabbing pains. “Go back!”
Above, the sky turned black and the moon hung above, bright and beautiful and demanding.
2017
“Fuck.”
Cynthia’s life was thoroughly ruined and it had been her own, stupid, hands that had done it. She’d been talking to Leslie about the recent total solar eclipse, which she could tell Leslie wasn’t really interested in hearing about—she did that thing where she absently picked dirt under her nails and flicked it away, the same thing she did in math class—but Thea couldn’t stop the excited drool of words that spilled from her mouth. She’d ordered only one pizza when she’d meant to order two. One pizza for four people wasn’t so bad until you remember that this was a pack of ravenous teenage girls; the sort that deliberately packed and ate dainty lunches at school so they wouldn’t get comments. Leslie ate a bag of chips for lunch. Zainab had water and an apple. Jalisa had leftovers from last night’s dinner but she only ate half of it.
Due to an ill timed volleyball meet, Cynthia hadn’t eaten anything at all.
One pizza wasn’t enough. To make matters worse, she’d tipped the pizza delivery man ten cents when she thought the machine was doing percentages. Fuck. He probably thought she was an asshole. She was an asshole. Fuck.
The pizza box trembled with the earthquake that was Cynthia’s body. She thought about throwing herself down on the floor, subjecting herself to the mercy of her friends, who were crowded around the tiny coffee table trying to play Catan.
“You can’t do that,” Jalisa said, gesturing at the hex-tile board.
“Why not?” Zainab blinked. “I think that’s a legal move.”
“Nuh-uh, ‘cause I was gonna go there. So, you can’t.”
“What are you talking about? This is a competitive game, we’re competing.”
“I thought it was cooperative.” Jalisa grinned sharply; trap set.
“You’re so dumb.” Leslie piped in now. She was, as per usual, winning. “Why would you think that? We literally have our own pieces. There’s only one winner.”
Jalisa's trap snapped shut; her joke executed: “So,” she said, grinning like a hyena. “...we’re not cooperating to let me win?”
“Where did the gray man go?” Zainab asked. “There’s supposed to be a gray man.”
“Why do we play these?” Jalisa nudged the table with her knee, undoing the delicate work of Leslie’s road, which she would, as per usual, be awarded ‘the longest road’ for. “No one’s good at them ‘cept Leslie and you and Cindy argue about rules for like two hours.”
“Because,” Zainab sighed, “Cindy likes them, and it’s her birthday so just—“
“Cindy!” Leslie rose, holding her hands out to help with the pizza and the jostling cups of garlic dip and box of brownies.
Cynthia set everything down on the table, right on top of the Catan pieces, knocking them out of place. “Pizza!” she exclaimed, anxiety tying her stomach up like roller skates, which her skin coincidentally felt like it was being trampled with. She flicked open the box, sending more game pieces to the ground, and let the aroma of cheese and the only topping they could all agree on, green bell peppers, waft into the air. Half was done up with chilli flakes while the other was speckled with mushrooms. Zainab fetched plates while Jalisa carefully peeled open the containers of garlic sauce.
The twenty dollars her dad had given her to order food for today, which she had deposited into her bank account on the way to school so she wouldn’t have to carry cash, wasn’t really enough for the grand idea of cheap pizza and brownies that Cynthia had. But now that she was sixteen she could get a job, and she’d have real money to order better, bigger pizzas instead of the allowance her dad gave her and the odd burst of money her mother did when she remembered that she existed and then felt guilty about forgetting her but only for as long as it took her to transfer money.
Each of her friends took a polite and sensible singular slice except Cynthia, who took the plate Zainab offered her and walked it back into the cabinet where it belonged.
“You’re not going to eat, Cindy?” Leslie called out, picking at the bell peppers even though she said they were okay and she liked them. Cynthia’s stomach churned; she knew Leslie was a picky eater, she could eat more hot sauce than any normal human but she didn’t like vegetables. She’d fucked up and people who fucked up needed to be the ones who made sacrifices.
“I’m not hungry.” Cynthia’s stomach scraped against her body, howling. “I ate a lot when I came home.”
2023
Thea heaved, a cold, pale, naked and sweaty lump on the ground. She groaned, clawing at her bloated abdomen. Thea twisted, pushing herself up to a sitting position. Once her body sensed a state of up-rightness, Thea curled into herself as bloody globs of saliva dripped from her open mouth. Something twisted up her throat and she gagged, spilling two small, hard circles into the mud below. She gagged again, reaching a filthy, blood-crusted finger down her gullet. She pulled and tugged and felt something slither out of her mouth. Tendrils still hung from her lips as she looked down.
Two tiny molars and a long string of blonde hair.
Her stomach growled and the desire to have a burger flooded her mind.

Found in the same area as my Thomas Sabo bracelets. I found the Montreal bracelet in a second hand store in Cape May about two years before I went to Montreal. It felt so special and was so beautiful so I had to have it. In a second hand store in Toronto during my trip to Canada, I found the other two. Having just been by Niagara Falls, it was such a magical and special find. Today I noticed there are five leaves and it filled me with so much warmth♥️

I just finished writing my first ever fic! thought I’d post it here (even if no one cares lol)
The Trade Network
Summary : We all know that during Nico's travels he has met and even befriended the most random creatures and even some gods and titans. And he was the one who discovered the Romans first.
Taking advantage of the fact that he somehow knows EVERYONE, Nico has started up a trade network between the cultures. A sort of Mythology Black market being run by a 15-year-old.
“Chapter 1” - an introduction
Nico leans against the shelves of boxes filled with extra camp shirts and tote bags in the dim back room of the Camp Store flicking through a pack of Mythomagic cards he had grabbed off of a nearby shelving unit. On the floor nearby Connor Stoll has opened and is looking through a cardboard box filled with a variety of trinkets and books. He looks up over towards Nico “send thanks next time you pass by the Sumerian Pagans over in Toronto, this is some good stuff. It’ll sell for sure, especially with Cabin 6.”  Conner gets a thumbs up in reply followed by “I’ve got one more delivery to deal with that should be dealt with by the end of the day, but after that this is everything for the month.”
As Nico leaves the Camp Store he gives a wave to Miranda who gives him a curt nod from behind the store counter. Stepping outside he see’s Will waiting for him, “you guys really shouldn’t be doing this” Will says once Nico is standing beside him. “We’re just providing the campers with merchandising that would be otherwise unavailable to them, really Solace what is wrong with that?” Nico replies as the two make their way to the infirmary. Just as Will is going to make a retort to his boyfriend's statement 3 campers he recognizes from Cabins 11 and 17 jog up to where they are at the entrance of the infirmary. “You have next month's store request form then?” Nico asks, “yup” the girl in middle replies as she pulls out a folded piece of paper from her back pocket and hands it over before the 3 run off towards the volleyball court.
“Ok, seriously” Will says exasperated “how many people do you and Miranda have involved in this trade?!”
 “Chapter 2”
Will stands in the doorway of the Hades Cabin while inside Nico is tossing a variety of currencies, an energy drink and other nik-naks into a side bag with a large rectangular  box on the floor next to him. “I’m not coming with you Nico, ok.” “Ok, so our first stop is Puebla to get some old astrological mapping systems …. How's your spanish?” “I just said I’m not going!” Nico sighs and tosses the bag he was packing onto his bunk, he swings his arm over Will’s shoulder and walks him into the cabin. “Look William, I’ve already arranged with Connor to have Harley cover your general lack of presence for the day.” “You guys are completely insane. And who is ‘covering’ your temporary disappearance then?”  “Who, me?” questions Nico, “The second word people use to describe me after ‘creepy’ is ‘runaway’, I don’t need to worry about people wondering where I am if they haven’t seen me for a couple hours.” Nico then goes and grabs the bag off of his bunk, swings it over his shoulders, with a grunt, picks up the box on the ground and grabs Will's arm as he walks into a shadow in the corner of the room saying “now come on we have a schedule to keep with”.
‘“Chapter 3”
As the two stepped out of the shadow, they entered an alleyway beside a series of looming buildings. The sound of a big city all around them, Nico temporarily put down the box he had brought with them and grabbed one of the energy drinks from his bag. He had already chugged about half of the can before Will spoke up “well it’s clearly too late to not be involved, so mind telling me where we are? Or maybe why are we here?”  Nico raised his eyebrow as he looked in Will’s direction. “Were you even listening? I’ve got a whole 3 way trade underway and this is the first stop.” Nico picks the large box up off the ground again and continues, “but…. We’re in Puebla”,  “wait Mexico!” Will says in a panicked voice. “Well yeah, I did ask how your Spanish was? We could have also been going to Spain I suppose…” Will just stares at him for a minute as a car horn blares in the background “I had thought your guys’ little out of pocket store was just between Camp Jupiter and Camp Half-Blood?”
Nico gives a little laugh and starts walking from the back of the alley towards the sidewalk, motioning with his head for will to follow behind him. “Oh William, that’s hilarious, no this is much much bigger than that.” “Ok then” Will following slowly behind begins, “so we’re in Puebla. Now, who is it that we are going to see?” After a few more paces they turn a corner to face a large apartment building. “The Mayans, not actually sure what we’re picking up today. But Sadie Kane from the Brooklyn House has been in contact with Bonaventura Escarcega, one of the main kids that run the show in town. And all I know is what l need to bring in order to get the final package from Brooklyn.” With that Nico pushed open the door into the lobby and walked into the apartment complex swinging the door behind him. Only just barely not hitting Will in the face as he made his way quickly in behind Nico.
“Chapter 4 - Xamaiqinqu patron god of merchants and travelers
The lobby of the apartment building was surprisingly large, white tiled floor, white and gold walls, fluorescent lights shining down, black leather couches scatered around the room and 3 sleek silver elevators side by side on the back wall. But what really stuck out was the grand wrap around hotel style desk in the middle of the lobby with a short man in a rather elaborately bejeweled jacket standing behind said desk.
Nico dropped the box he was holding with a thud beside Will and walked up leaning on the desk casually saying, “we have a meeting in office 12 at 2:30.” The man blinks at him and slowly drawls out “I’m afraid you must have the wrong address. This is an apartment complex not an office building”. That got him a are you serious look from Nico “an apartment building that no lives in longer than 2 weeks at a time? I know it’s you xamaiqinqu, I’ve got a trade deal with ‘tura. You really gonna stop a trade from happening? That’s like your whole thing.” The man sighed and rummaged through a drawer in the desk. “I suppose, you have built up a reputable reputation. But who's that other guy?” Nico turns around to see Will standing awkwardly beside the large box that had been placed on the floor. “Oh that’s just my boyfriend Will, you don’t need to worry about him”
Xamaniqinqu tosses Nico what looks like a security pass that he had pulled out from under the desk and tells them to “take the far right elevator to floor 5.”  Nico picks up the crate once again and the two make their way to elevator. Once inside with only Taylor Swifts shake it off playing quietly in the background Will looks over and finally asks, “ok who was that guy, and why does he remind me of Mr. D?” Nico shifts how he’s standing. “To answer the second question, I think it is just a result of being forced into a job that causes you to be grumpy. And for the first, that was Xamaniqinqu the Mayan patron god of merchants and travelers.”
A ding and temporary stop to the T Swift tells them they have reached the 5th floor. As they exit the elevator into the hallway they can clearly see office room 12 in front of them. A large golden double door at the end of the hallway with the number 12 engraved into the door in a shiny red. Walking up to the door Nico takes out the pass he had been given at the front desk and inserts it into a small key slot to the right of the entrance. A loud click can be heard and the door swings open.
“Chapter 5 - the first trade off”
Office room 12 was not as glorious on the inside as it seemed on the outside. A typical board room, it consisted of a large table that had an array of papers and scrolls scattered all over it. with 15~ faded black office chairs scattered around. 3 large windows on the side wall faced out onto the bustling of the big city below.  But what or who they came for where the 2 young pre-teens standing on stools in front of a giant white board that spread over an entire wall, playing what seemed to be their 17th game of hangman.
Taking a step inside Nico leans towards the table and nocks on it with his fist, causing the tweens by the board to turn around suddenly. The slightly younger looking boy being smacked in the face by the girl as they look towards the door.  “Afternoon Bonaventura, Nora” Nico said, giving a little wave and elongating his words before walking over to the table before dropping the box they had brought with them onto the table one last time. “Heyyyyyy!!! You made it, good to see you again long time no see ya know?” Said Bonaventura, the 12 year old’s words coming out at the speed of light as he bounced up and down on his toes.
Having walked towards the table the older girl, presumably Nora, started picking at the cardboard box. “You brought everything than?” she questioned not turning around, still looking throughout the box sitting on the table. “Have I ever disappointed during a trade, yeah it’s all in there. 23 slates of celestial bronze and 14 of imperial gold.” Stepping away from the table Nora calls to her bouncing companion “Alright then ‘tura, you want to gather up the those maps for Chicago.” As the smaller kid started packing up all the papers and scrolls that had been scattered on the table, Will cautiously walked up besides Nico looking around him before asking “where did you get all that metal, surly the Hephestus wouldn’t let you take that much celestial bronze from the forge?” Getting only raised eyebrows and a look that can only be described as saying oh but wouldn’t they in response Will sighs “Leo let you take it didn’t he, he’s involved as well?” “Good to see you’re catching on.”
With that Bonaventura came up to them holding a cloth bag full of scrolls and file folders. “Now make sure they take extreme care of these things over at the Brooklyn house” he urges, “some of these planetary maps are over 3 thousand years old.” “Yeah yeah” Nico mumbles as he hands off the bag to Will.
Saying their goodbyes to the young teens the boys make their way back down to the building lobby. Xamaniqinqu sat a stool that definitely wasn’t there when they entered the building, working on what seemed to be a crossword puzzle. When Nico went to toss the security pass he had been given back onto the front desk, Xamaniqinqu looked up briefly. Picking the pass up he held back out to Nico “keep it why don’t ya, I suppose you’ve proven your trustworthy by now.” Looking a little surprised Nico gives him a little smile and nod while taking the badge from the patron god. With that Will and Nico leave the skyrise to be greeted with the sounds of city traffic and streets lined with a mixture of tall buildings and storefronts.
“Chapter 6 - A different side of New York”
Walking down the sidewalk for a few minutes they turned down a different sidestreet than where they had originally come from before taking a turn into a shadowy alleyway. Nico turned to Will who was carrying the bag filled with papers, threw his arm around Will’s shoulder and took a step into the shadows of the brick alley saying “next stop, a different side of New York.”
They came out of the shadows on the steps of what could only be described as a mansion. “Wow” was all Will could manage as he looked up at the large house that loomed in font of them. “Welcome to the Brooklyn house” Nico said as he rapped on the front door rather loudly. “So if Puebla housed the Mayan gods, than who’s in Brooklyn?” Questioned Will as they waited for someone to answer the door. “A few Magicians this is the 21st Nome, though they are scattered all around the main hub is the House of Life underground the Cairo airport.” “Well I guess that’s not any weirder than Camp funding itself by fronting as a Strawberry Farm” commented Will in reply just as the door swung open to reveal a teenage girl who definitely was not dressed as though she lived in a giant mansion. “I was starting to think you weren’t going to show, well come on in. Though I suppose a vampire like yourself needs to be specifically invited don’t you. Come welcome into my home”  Her voice dripping with sarcasm by the end of the sentence. The pair entered, Nico shaking his head the whole time “ seriously, how many times do we have this conversation Sadie. I am not a vampire!” Laughing she went over and lightly punched Will in the shoulder saying “than why do you dress and act like one huh?”
As they continued to walk through the house Will spotted another few kids and teens scurrying around, one particularly young kid even seemed to be chasing after a penguin. When they finally made their way back to the houses Library. Again if it even really could be called a ‘house’, Nico took the bag Will had been carrying from him and handed it over to Sadie. “Here this is all of them, now I given instructions to inform you to make sure to take extra care of these ones due to there age.” As she carefully looked through the contents of the bag Sadie gave him a glance in response that one could tell even without words meant do you think I’m stupid.
After looking through the bag and finding the contents adequate Sadie placed it gently on a woden table to the side. Turning over to the boys she motioned them to follow her “Walt brought these down earlier” they approach a back wall with a desk and office like set up. Sitting in the middle of the seemingly hand carved elaborate redwood desk, on top of a mountain of papers all written in Egyptian hieroglyphics was a small gold box with jewel detailing all around it. As Nico went to pick up the box and put it into his backpack Sadie grabbed his hand. “Now wait, if anything you need to be careful with these. You sure you and your people know what to do with them?” she asked. This got her the same do you think I’m stupid look that Nico had been given earlier. As Nico was putting the container into his bag however Will slowly raised his hand “umm actually I have no idea what is in that box or what I would do with it”. Nico looked at him like are you serious, “don’t worry about him Sadie he’s not going to be using them, and I’ll make sure everyone who does gets a full run down.” The blonde gave a sigh before saying “ok, but I’m not taking any legal responsibilities for anything that might happen. If you use them wrong. Now get out of my house before I either change my mind or my brother finds out I’ve got use involved in a cross mythos Trading scheme. We’re already on thin ice with the House of Life.”
“Chapter 7 - the drop off”
After Sadie sends the two back on their way to camp in fear that her older brother Carter might return from his outing with two of the students Shelby and Julien at any moment. With the golden box safely tucked away inside Nico’s backpack the boys arrive at the edge of the North Woods of camp just before 4:30. Done with the fiasco of the day Will and Nico split ways, with Will giving Nico the very legitimate reasoning for running off of “I need to go make sure everyone finished their chores today. You know Austin, would rather spend his day playing the guitar than make his bed….” and dashing off in the direction of the Cabins.
Shaking his head and giving a little sigh, Nico started his way across the camp and up towards The Big House.
Finally arriving up at the house, he began making his way through the Big House and quickly Nico made his way to the the Camp Store. When getting to the store Miranda could be found working behind the counter. Barely looking up from the papers she was dealing with, which from the looks of it they were another report of an attempted break in from Conner, and gave him a slight nod before going back to her work.
Shrugging his backpack off and lifting it up onto the counter, Nico tried to Casually look around to see if anyone who might call them out was in the store. Seeing only Harley in the back corner, who was too distracted by the comic stand that had recently been brought in from New Rome to even notice that Nico had entered the store. He slowly pulled out the shiny chest from his bag, sliding it across the surface of the counter towards Miranda. As she quietly grabbed the chest and discreetly put it away under the counter neither making eye contact. Nico than swung the backpack back over his shoulder, grabbed an energy drink from the cooler beside the counter, paid 2 drachmas and then quickly made his way out of the store.
And started strolling down to the cabins, getting ready for Ancient Greek at 5 before Chiron noticed was anything off.
Chapter 8 - the finale
The next morning as per usual Nico spent breakfast sitting alongside Will and the rest of his siblings at the cabin 7 table ‘per doctors orders’ of course. Nico having finally managed to convince Will that everything was completely fine after having an argument that was more sarcastic remarks than anything, but Nico ended up ‘winning’ Will over with the argument of,
“I mean we get sent on these life threatening quests, and fight in wars. Whats wrong with a little bartering between acquaintances?”
As campers slowly started to filter out of the Dining Pavilion of the course of the next half hour as they finished breakfast and made their way to various morning activities, Nico noticed Harley Davidson one of the younger campers from the Hephestus cabin weaving through the various tables towards where the Apollo cabin was eating. Clearly nervous, which was strange for the in Nico’s opinion slightly deranged child who had come up with genius idea of sending them into the labyrinth for fun and games. Shuffling right up to Nico Harley looked around nervously before informing him that
“Chiron wants to talk with you up at the Big House during your Foraging for Survival 101 session.”  Given fact that he confused Baneberries for Cranberries just last week mixed with the look in the kid’s eyes told Nico, that Chiron didn’t want to meet up at the Big House to inform him that his identification of edible plants was so good that he didn’t need to take the sessions anymore.
Will gives him a look of I told you so, and before leading his siblings off to their morning activities gives Nico a little hug and leaves him with “I’m not going to say it…. But I mean…. What did I say??”  Nico just glares at his boyfriend before starting the trek towards the House with Harley trailing behind him.
As they approach the front porch of the Big House, Nico isn’t quite sure why the son of Hephestus is following him. At least why this one is, Leo he might understand a little more. He can see Chiron and Mr. D sitting waiting for him to arrive. It isn’t until he steps up onto the deck that he sees the aren’t alone, standing with her head down off to the side of the porch is Miranda Gardiner.
“Glad you could join us Mr. di Angelo, I’ve noticed some interesting changes in stock at the store recently. I was wondering if perhaps you knew anything about it.” Before Chiron could continue Mr. D interrupted, “you know I don’t really see what the problem is. Mindy and Nico here were just exploring the world of business and showing their skills as budding entrepreneurs. Now what’s the harm in that? In fact I’m a tad proud of the annoying little beasts.”
Giving only a disapproving sigh Chiron turned his attention back to the two teens that stood before him. Just as the teacher went to open his mouth to try and get to the bottom of the entirety of the scheme they, and perhaps whoever else was involved, had been conducting. And figure out how to move forwards. I mean could he really just let them continue? But at the same time in a way Mr. D was right they really hadn’t been doing anything wrong other than leaving camp without permission. And di Angelo did that all the time anyway.
But just then, not aware of the fate he was running towards. Connor Stoll came dashing up to the Big House basically yelling, “Nico wait!! I think Chiron might have found one of our order sheets! He knows about the business, don’t say anything!!!”
It’s right than that Connor sees everyone standing around the porch and he stops in place so fast Nico is convinced there will be skid marks under where he’s standing.
“Uhhh, good morning Chiron how are you doing on this lovely day” Connor stammers out.  With a slight grin he answers simply “So thoughtful of you to join us Mr.Stoll.”

APRIL 27, 2023 - ONLYONEOF GRAND AMERICA TOUR IN TORONTO
I started the day out with my right dress circle balcony ticket and three premium snapshot tickets. Then, at 5:30pm, I bought a VVIP ticket for $50 CAD from someone in line who got a better queue number! I got a fansign, autographed poster, hitouch, group photo, a better seat, and my three snapshots all for cheaper than if I bought VVIP when tickets first went on sale 😭💜 Two days later and I'm still convinced none of that was real but here's what happened...
So first we wait in line all looped around the stairs for the fansign where we get our autographed poster (or album if you brought one, I obviously didn't). We heard screams and look over to the stairs by the front of the line aND THE BOYS ARE JUST CASUALLY WALKING UP THEM ????? I ASSUMED THEY WERE ALREADY WAITING INSIDE THE ROOM SO THIS CAUGHT ME SO OFF GUARD... I only saw the backs of their heads but ohhhhhhhh it was so surreal.
I went into this with 3 premium snapshots and a balcony seat. That was, until I saw someone selling a VVIP ticket for $50, so at 5:30pm I bought it and got in line and had no idea what was in store for me.
Then the fansign starts and given that I am 231 of maybe 250 people or whatever I have to wait a while but .. oh .. walking into that room ..
Kyubin was first and he had a little stick on nose jewel thing so I complimented that and he said I like your nose ring 🤧💜
Next was Nine and he had a little face jewel thingy and
me: I love your face jewel!
nine: I love YOU!!!!!
In exactly the tone of voice you would expect Nine to say it in.
Then it went Yoojung, Rie, Mill, and Junji and I ran out of shit to say I was just so scared and nervous but happy so they all were like Thank you for coming to the show and I like I said thank you in response???? GIRL IDK I SMILED .. I WAS NOT PREPARED FOR THIS TO HAPPEN OKAY ...
Mill's smile is infinitely more beautiful in real life though and he winked at me and I felt a piece of my soul ascend into the heavens in that moment.
THEN we looped back through the lineup to be sent back in for hitouch and the group photo in groups of 10 people. I made friends with the girl in front of me, number 230, so I was sad when she was number 10 and I was number 1 of the next group. WHICH WAS ALSO TERRIFYING AS SHIT TO BE THE FIRST ONE INTO THAT ROOM FOR THE NEXT HITOUCH GROUP PHOTO OHHHHHHHHH ITS SO SCARY AND EXCITING.........
So they were all so happy and friendly and nice and sweet and kind and beautiful inside and out.. And with the way they organized things I was on the end kneeling next to Kyubin and he asked if I was okay when I went to kneel down and IDK if that was because of my outfit (skirt and tights) or because I looked anxious as fuck 🤧💔 But yeah then we made the hand heart thing and GOD THIS TOTALLY MAKES UP FOR THE SNAPSHOT WITH HIM I GIFTED TO SOMEONE ELSE!!!!!!!!!
So yeah then we leave and line up to be let into our seats and I end up being the 9th row back on the left side. Then I just got to sit there and process things for a moment until the show started.
And I won't go through every single detail of the actual concert but I will say I have never laughed more at a show than I did last night!!! They are so funny and charming and endearing and witty and amazing... AND DEAR GOD ALL THAT CHOREOGRAPHY LOOKS AMAZING IRL THEY DID SO WELL AND I AM SOOOOOOOO IMPRESSED AND AMAZED AND IN AWE OF IT ALL
After the show obviously was the snapshots and because I had premium I was first but because of how things turned out I ENDED UP BEING FIRST IN LINE FOR RIE???????????????? Which again so scary so exciting very nervous anxious oh the anticipation...
So I chose the V pose and for a split second I put my arm behind him until I was like OH WAIT NO then I corrected myself and honestly I was so nervous I didn't really realize in the moment that he put his other arm around me !!!!!!!!!!! After that I told him he was an amazing performer and I was so so so happy tonight and I can't remember his exact response tbh 😭😭😭
Next I lined up for Mill and I chose the half flower pose?? IDK what to call it but yeah we did that and then I told him he has a beautiful smile aND ONCE AGAIN I DON'T REMEMBER HIS EXACT RESPONSE 😭😭😭 But we said bye and then parted ways 💔
Finally I went up for Junji and we did the hand heart pose and um 🥲 Whatever I had planned to say went out the window and I just started saying anything like I love you.. Thank you so much... I know I told him he was my favourite and I THINK he was like happy surprised BUT I CANNOT RECALL EXACTLY HOW HE RESPONDED 😭💔😭💔😭💔 It was sweet and cute though..
I hung around for a minute to make sure my photos developed properly and saw Mill's premium line ended first and GOD I WAS TEMPTED TO GO BACK UP THERE AND JUST SEE WHAT WOULD HAPPEN... But alas I did not and so I left the room and the venue and went back to my hotel room.
Final Thoughts? Oh I am definitely still in shock and it'll take me a while to process any of that let alone ALL of that. I'm exhausted and happy and GOD I AM SO HAPPY?!! Thank you OOO and thank you person who sold me VVIP and thank you number 230 my new bestie and thank you to Studio Pav for not fucking anything up tonight (for me anyway).

the basics //

trigger warning: death at childbirth ( alluding to, not really mentioned )
                    physical appearance & characteristics //
face claim:  jessie mei li eye color:  dark brown hair color: black  glasses/contacts?: no.  dominant hand: mostly right.  height: 1.62 m / 5′2″ tattoos: not yet, she had plans for her first, but you know plane crash. piercings: ears & nose marks/scars: uh josie likely has scars from her pets, because you know reptiles and from just being generally a clumsy individual.
                                          personality traits //
positive: inquisitive, curious, auspicious negative: vexatious, naive, self-critical alignment: chaotic good
                                deeper dive //
hobbies.
tending to her animals - honestly, she finds so much joy in it and loves when she gets a chance to show off her sanctuary for them !
excursions - she loves, loves going on excursions especially those connected to her line of studies in paleontology
going to museums - yep, she was the kid that enjoyed museums more than most and enjoyed stopping with every exhibit and reading as much as possible, likely with a hand.
being social - whilst her hobbies aren’t the most usual, she still does love being social and going out, she just doesn’t necessarily have the same urges as some of her peers.
                               favorites //
food - tomato soup with a grilled cheese made by her dad
drink - capri sun or sprite
movie - jurassic park
song - the tarzan soundtrack
color - yellow & green
                              backstory //
though josie never got the chance to meet her mother, she never for a second felt as though her life lacked in love, despite how difficult it must've been for father he never let that show. she certainly has missed and asked questions about her mother at times, both to her father and her older brother, and though at times they weren't in the headspace to talk about her, they always did the best to make sure josie knew who she was. he was a fire chief at their local station and because of this, she spent a lot of time in the firehouse and became somewhat like the station child. she loved it, truthfully, though she never had much of a desire to become a firefighter herself, she definitely enjoyed joining some of their training drills. at one point, she debated becoming a emt because she loved working alongside them from time to time during their training but then, she encountered a real life injury where there was a lot of blood and quickly realized that wasn't the job for her. still, she learned quite a bit during that time.
but, between watching the magic school bus, jurassic park, indiana jones and lots of steve irwin, josie developed a passion for nature and animals, specifically those of the scaly assortment. josie would spend lots of time visiting the local reptiles at the pet store, the local zoo, etc. and heading to museums around the city, especially the natural history museum. she thought it was the coolest place ever, and through asking lots of questions, josie realized exactly what they wanted to become.
growing up, her father was always worried about who josie dating and in doing so was always skeptical of a lot of the people that she befriended, but really, dating was the last thing on josie's mind. she enjoyed people's company and that was that, and once this was realized, he started to relax a bit. she did definitely have crushes on people, but none she really did anything about or spoke out about.
josie was studying on the side of her job and working towards her phd in palentology and through her studies the opportunity arose to travel and join an excursion abroad alongside one of her favorite mentors and she jumped on the opportunity, and was very excited.
                              wanted connections //
her boss / mentor at the museum
people she annoys, josie can be a lot, she doesn't mean to be, but social cues aren't always her forte
someone to be reckless with, especially in regards to the nature surrounding them
someone that was seated next to them? whether they noticed the chameleon is open, perhaps they did and thought it was cool? or they were repulsed? who knows!
someone from the firehouse perhaps?
fellow museum workers ! i envision her division at work was headed out for some sort of excursion / trip
people she befriended at the airport before getting on board the flight or during the flight !
someone that becomes sort of like a father figure on the island? growing up josie has always been super close to her father, so she'd likely seek out a similar vibe from someone !
