You might have read a lot of self-help books. Each special in its own way. But with The 5 AM Club, the magic reveals itself when the "homeless guy" shows the tattoo on his back - “Victims love entertainment. Victors adore education.” If you're in a slump or facing a difficulty trying to maintain the focus... Read this one - if possible in the combination with its Audiobook. Wonderful experience. #agoodlibrary #juiwritesonline #robinsharma #robinsharmaquotes #robinsharmabookclub #robinsharma5amclub #robinsharmabooks #the5amclub #the5amclubbook #bookrecommendations #selfhelpbooksforwomen #selfhelpauthor #reading #novels #selfhelpbooks #selfhelpquotes #selfhelp #earlymorning #inspirationalquotes

I start my book with a story about a time that shaped the trajectory of my life before I knew it. In short: I was about 8. One of my lung completely collapsed and other was functioning at half capacity. I was placed in a medically induced coma and spend more time in the hospital than the average adult ever will. (DL a free chapter of the book in my website, it has the full story) Picture One: my mom visiting me in PICU (about a week after I woke up) in the Miami hospital that I stayed in. Picture Two: me shortly after waking but unable to move/interact. Picture Three: me present day, choosing to make the best of this opportunity we call life. Today, I choose to risk failure if it means doing what I believe God made me to. I choose to use my voice and story to help others to do the same. I choose to ignore poor criticism from people who won’t even try to understand and instead pull me back for their comfort. I choose to move forward with Gods promise. My point: only you and God get to shape your story. Everyone else gets to influence it if you choose to let them. I’m grateful for the people who, although are scared for me or don’t fully agree with/understand the steps I’m taking, they still show up. They still support and if I stumble they choose to catch me. You get to choose a lot in life. Choose carefully. Follow 👉🏽👉🏽 @paulwcroswell for more. Follow 👉🏽👉🏽 @paulwcroswell for more. I was a bit embarrassed to call @honeyistheknifebook a self-help book at first. “Great, now no one will ever take my writing seriously and all my PhD friends will be like 🙄” But, after some time it was like girl—stop: @honeyistheknifebook is a self-help book. *Alternative* self-help, but self-help nonetheless. I always wanted to see a self-help boom that was zany and complex and delightful and not going to tell me that the key to my happiness was a set of affirmations and an amethyst. I wanted to see self-help that lived in reality. I’ve read some terrible self-help. Books so tone deaf they make Tucker Carlson look quaint. But I’ve also read some amazing self-help guides. Sisters of the Yam, C*nt, Radical Compassion, Shadows on the Path… @honeyistheknifebook places my experience at center: a nerdy, hyper-sensitive Black second generation woman—not because it’s the only experience (lol) but because the more specific you get, the more you expand into stories beyond the self. My story is unique—but it is not special. I want to be loved just like you. I want to love just like you. I want to be free like you want to be free. I want to hope like you long to hope. I struggle just like you. @honeyistheknifebook is my love letter to all our gorgeous, messy selves. It’s on the way…. • #hannaheko #honeyistheknife #bookcoach #developmentaleditor #writingcoach #selfhelpbook #selfhelpbooksforwomen (at Los Angeles, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cat8nfRLosO/?utm_medium=tumblr

Stories choose us. If you try and force a story, you will feel more than writer’s block—you’ll feel writer’s boulder. It’s terrible & I don’t recommend it. Please stop writing to fight against “The Man”—he doesn’t give a sh*t. Please stop writing to impress—they’ll find something to hate anyways. Please don’t feel like you have to write The Immigrant Story or the Politically Correct story if your heart isn’t in it. You have nothing to prove. Get quiet, get honest: What stories do you dream about telling? What book would you be pissed as hell to learn someone else wrote before you? Write that. Flick those dusty “shoulds” from your shoulder and write the story (stories) that chose YOU. There is someone out there who needs to hear and read that story as it comes from YOU. Write from your own messy, gorgeous heart and you’ll never go wrong. And that resistance won’t be as crazy, I promise you. I’ll help you turn your sh*tty first draft into a work of art (and heart). I’ll help you live as if your wounds were your superpower and create work you love. Sign up for my moonletter newsletter & head over to hannahoeko.com/coaching to learn more. Also: I host a really fun, low pressure, writing workshop for the canna friendly writer the first Saturday of the month. Check out the link in my bio to learn more, we meet this Saturday, February 5th and we’d love to have you. 💋✌🏿, Hannah • #selfhelpbooksforwomen #essaycollection #honeyistheknife #writingcoaching #bookcoach #selfcelebration #divinefemininepower #writingcoach #hannaheko #findmywritingcommunity #writingbooks #nonfictionbook #bookcoaching (at Los Angeles, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/CZgPhUTL86Q/?utm_medium=tumblr

I’m not 17. That magical age that we hear in all the pop songs. My body feels and looks different. Sometimes I experience that passed over glaze in a man’s eyes when they mentally calculate if you’re near geriatric pregnancy age and inwardly shout, “Next!” Aunties ask me my age and don’t bother asking if I’m getting married anymore (lol). It’s weird sometimes to grow older. One minute you’re the cool kid. The next minute you’re a meme. Most days, I accept this as the inevitability of life. I know who I am. I’ve done so much in my relatively short life. I’m still learning new things. Wherever you are at in the age spectrum (I frankly identify as nonlinear 😉), you are free to create a life that works for you. Some people will try to age you quick with their aging bellyaching. Some will think you’re a kid until you possess house and baby. But at the end of the day, even with all the noise— It’s you who decides what adulthood looks and aging feels like. May you age with vigor, purpose, and grace. And may you make your eternal 17 year old self proud with the decisions you make. ✌🏿 I’m a writer, editor, and book coach. Some of us hide behind our Collective Wound. We are obsessed about Them. We can yell about systemic this and capitalism that and Racism and misogyny and Solidarity… But ask us how it felt when our dad ignored us for years Ask us how it felt when our ex cheated And we are Silent. Some of us hide behind our Personal Wound. We are obsessed with Self. We can go on (and on) about inner child healing and Mother Wounds and trauma but Ask us why we don’t want to go to certain neighborhoods Ask us why we skip conversations about race, gender, or sex And we are Quiet. You can’t talk about one wound without the other. And many teachers, gurus, coaches, and even therapists only speak to one type of wound. And this stunts our growth, big time. If you want to live with more intention and love If you want to write with more truth and depth Then you gotta know and feel both. Be mindful of teachers who can only speak about one type of wound. If they are denial about a certain wound, they are denial in other places too… You are allowed to equally be angry and saddened by the real people who hurt you AND Be angry and saddened by the political and social systems which created them. May you hold compassion and tenderness towards the forces big and small which make up your Collective and Personal Wound. You (We) deserve to heal on all levels. 💜 I help humans transform their wounds into their teacher. Common lore has it that “women” are supposed to be Skinny Weak Nice And basically that when “women” aren’t these things—when they’re big, assertive, and actually have something like boundaries the world doesn’t like them. And doesn’t think they should be wives or be treated with human decency 🙁 I think it’s a little (lol—a lot) different for Black Women. In addition to all the “skinny-nice-weak” BS, we’re*also* supposed to be Strong (AKA invulnerable to pain AKA Sapphire) Asexually self-sacrificing ultra mommy to all (AKA super codependent AKA Mammy) Sexually available always and forever (AKA never seen as innocent AKA Jezebel) So, if you’re a Black Woman you’re supposed to be Skinny Momma Weak Warrior Queen Nymphomaniac Nice Girl ALL at the same damn time! 😱 No wonder Beyonce has to work so hard. What a doozy. 🙃 I present this small sociology lesson to show you how absolutely insane the dance we are asked to do is. You’re not a failure for being unable to live up to absolute ridiculousness. You’re a human. So: please continue to accept those rebel, unruly parts of yourself. Focus on what makes your heart and soul feel good. Breathe and surround yourself with people who love you as you. You deserve to be happy. You deserve to rest. Before I say peace: I’m Hannah Eko. I’m a developmental editor and a coach for writers. I help people on and off the page. One way I do this is by my deep pro-human, anti-racist expertise where I help my clients release the superbly heavy & perfectionist aspects of inner racism. I’m a certified anti-racist dialogue facilitator and yoga teacher. 🧘🏿‍♀️ 💜 And I spent over a decade in the world of anti-racism & I know how deeply embedded this sh*t can be. You’re not alone and you’re not crazy. If you want to learn more about what I offer, see the link in my bio. “How would you have sex if you didn’t give a f*ck how your belly looked?” Most women live from the outside in. Our life is an eternal third person narrative. We are constantly worried about how cute we look, how others value us. Even & especially during moments of deep intimacy. We are brainwashed by billion dollar industries to believe that how we look is the most important part of our existence. And this orientation affects everything. how we write, teach, go to work, partner, dress, speak… And so, when someone asks us what WE want, we honestly have zero idea. We’ve been so conditioned to focus on what everyone wants and needs that to focus inside feels Weird Selfish Wrong My life has been a continuous labyrinth of coming back to my own desires. Little by little. Day by day. Sometimes I literally have to pause and write it down: “Hannah, what do you want?” And I acknowledge what I write. Even if it’s “too big” Even if it’s “too out there” Even if it’s “too many people will think I’m absolutely crazy” How would you Write Mother Dress Work If your eyes and your desire were the center? If your life was lived in first person? If you released the worry of being pretty and acceptable? What wild and holy things would come from you? Writers & artists are divine channels of eclectic truth. If you desire deeper connection to the wild & honest parts of who you are, see the link in my bio to find out more about my developmental editing and 1:1 coaching services. (Also when you can, let that belly breathe. 😉) 💋 • • • #selfhelpbooksforwomen #essaycollection #divinefemininehealing #blackwomencreatives #blackhealingmatters #selfcelebration #honeyistheknife #divinefemininespeaks #selfcompassionjourney #findmywritingcommunity #writingbooks #nonfictionbook #hannaheko (at Los Angeles, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/CZKZJvyplKf/?utm_medium=tumblr
