during the 2012/2013, I was an emo-adjacent kid and Coverse knee high boots were all the rage. I wore them to school every single day. I managed to scrape all the skin off of my ankle in a heinous shaving accident as I was 12 and stupid with sharp instruments. there was this giant gash on my ankle bone area and it was exactly where my converse boots bended/wore into the skin so the wound got infected and so sore. you would think maybe I’d wear vans or something that didn’t rub against my open wound just until it healed but no, I kept wearing my converses. because why? beauty is pain. the wound got infected and seeped yellow plasma all the time trying to scab over and heal and being hopelessly torn open by my tight boots. I developed a noticeable limp and I’d go into the bathroom to replace my bandaid and put Neosporin on.

my poor sweet math teacher got worried, I think my noticeable limp and my suspiciously long bathroom breaks (not normal for me, I was a very good student and one of her favorites) made her suspect I was being abused. she pulled me aside after class. goody two shoes that I was, this petrified me and I thought I was in trouble. then, with the utmost sincerity and kindness she asked me why I was limping and taking 10 minute bathroom breaks. I then had to explain to her that I had SLICED OFF ALL OF THE SKIN ON MY ANKLE BONE while shaving and that I had to change the bandaid or it would seep through, I was so nervous that I offered to show her the wound. thankfully, she said no and advised me to wear different shoes until it healed. I complied with her advice.

whumpee who picks at their skin (maybe a nervous habit, an unhealthy stim, or as self harm), and caretaker who will gently take whumpee's hands in theirs to prevent the picking. who uses fidget/stim toys, hand holding, or anything else to prevent the picking without shaming whumpee.

caretaker who will help clean up whumpee's skin if necessary. who knows it's not an easy habit to break.

caretaker putting scar gel on whumpee, if they want it. kissing the scars. covering for whumpee if people ask about the wounds/scars. getting whumpee fun/unique bandaids (if they use them).

caretaker never judging whumpee for their stims, their habits, their coping methods, but helping whumpee work toward healthier ones

i'm not aspd (i say that cus i know chronic boredom's usually big for that one) but i do get painfully bored extremely often. i'll be under no emotional distress and then i'll decide to self-mutilate simply because i'm bored and it's funny & i don't think that's a good thing

I would like to clarify to my newer followers that I am not an ED page, and I've actually recovered from anorexia in the past year. and although I have no issue with ED blogs, I will be blocking anyone who posts pro-ED content or rubs me the wrong way. we're here for pretty pictures and silly posts, and although we sometimes vent about heavy shit, this is not the space for promoting disordered behavior, girlies. let's promote healthy behaviors whenever we can, 'kay?
