ok spoilers for MQ BUT

if I was the one writing it, I’d have had poppy already get an abortion like right before she stomps into the office to tell Ian she’s ready to work. Cuz the last time someone used the phrase “1000%” it was Ian and it was total crap. So she’s now counting on this expansion which is why she suggests they do it anyway.

And listen, I respect it if they want poppy to keep the baby—but I just think this would be more interesting. Like how wild would it be if we went on thinking she was still pregnant only to have a flashback scene to her getting an abortion after that horrible convo with Storm.

ANYWAY idk, but that’s how I’d do it.

Yo, this is what I’ve been SAYING!!!

This is why I’m so hung up on the idea that Brad and David are essential to each other’s wellbeing - and not romantically either.

They’ve worked together for the better part of a decade, and the subtle changes in their personalities have finally gotten to this point where it’s obvious each has inspired the other somehow.

David had become so much more self aware and is - generally - a more affective boss because of it. He understands how money works now, and the value of it. He likes to keep personal and “bidness” separate where he can, and his values have very clearly shifted (professionally speaking, of course).

And Brad. Brad is a corporate money suck. Always has been and probably always will be. However, his demeanour is so much more open and somewhat empathetic in a way? His plots and schemes seem to be less thought out and somewhat rushed these days, and his allegiance to Dana - as a creative - makes him a lot more approachable and less distant.

Seeing Brad open up to Anna in such a way was ridiculously refreshing and unseen! Don’t get me started on the shots they used in that scene because my brain is fizzing with subtle nuances and subliminal messages etc.

This is someone who knew Brad before his MQ family did. She’s noticed an immense change in him, but - because we’ve seen him on a consistent basis as the viewers and also through his colleagues eyes - it doesn’t appear as obvious.

They’re both slowly evolving into their better selves and noticing their true potential. David is going to thrive, and Brad is going to lose his entire sense of self because of it. He’s so used to masking and wearing a certain facade that - once it’s truly dropped - he’ll fear he can’t replace it indefinitely.

I’m so ready for them to become best friends and talk about money, girls (women) and how Anna is probably toxic but sex is good and male friendships are important.

Actually, the most impressive thing about Skeleton Crew was how it understood the value of keeping the story small.

When your heroes are small, sheltered, inexperienced children, everything feels huge and threatening.

When none of the characters have the Force, you don't need characters who can move buildings with their minds. The guy who can do a teeny bit of stuff with the Force has a terrifyingly huge advantage.

Barely using the Force means that little examples of using the Force--like making a small object float--can invoke a major sense of wonder.

When only one character has a lightsaber, you don't need huge sword battles. A single blow from a lightsaber becomes a terrifying dramatic moment.

The villains don't need to have weapons that can blow up entire galaxies. If you have a few villains who can put the heroes, their families, and their home in danger, the stakes are as high as they need to be.

You don't need to draw characters and plot points from fifteen other stories. You just need to set up plot points that are well-foreshadowed in this story.

It keeps the story grounded, relatable, and understandable, while still having tons of tension and excitement and adventure. You don't have to make the story big. You just have to keep the heroes small.
