The good part is that the door remains wide open, with a second episode making clear how unfinished this situation is; the bad part is that the building is on fire, so by the time they think to use said door it might not matter.

Because 8a didn't wrap storylines started in s7, it just trashed them in favor of... what, Brad? It's not that Brad had more (time, story) than Tommy, it's that it could be said he had more than Bobby! Remember Bobby, whom we saw in the tail end of s7 being rather depressed (possibly suicidal), resign, rescue his wife from a fire, and die for a few minutes? we started s8 with an implication that the 118 hadn't talked to him (in months?), and I guess that was a sign of how the next episodes would go.

Now there's Buck spiraling again (making his best impression of a Hallmark movie heroine for some reason), Eddie leaves the 118 because of Chris again, Hen and Karen pretty much disappear until their kids are threatened once more I guess, Maddie will get kidnapped again, and who knows if they'll remember Chim exists.

I think we all expected some repetition from the weewoo show by now, suspension of disbelief too. Some rushing through storylines for sure. But I certainly didn't expect it to be so joyless.

I actually had this idea for a strip LAST year, but by the time it occurred to me, it was already well into the season, so I wrote it down and waited. YESTERDAY, we were driving to Erie and noticed that, indeed, the leaves were starting to change a smidge early this year. That, and it's gotten cold pretty quick up here in western PA, so I figured the time was right. :)

if I had a lot of money I would commission a bunch of thief/citron/gem fanart where thief king is his canonical height of "nine centimeters shorter than marik and five centimeters shorter than bakura" for the sole purpose of flooding the zone and resetting the fanon overton window. Spread it subtly across multiple platforms as psychological warfare. I believe if I did this enough it would have sufficient influence to cause at least some people to course correct and eventually I would win. btw this is an insane post to make/thing to care about

Damian: Yeah, it's no problem. A lot's been happening that you need to know.

Noah: How are they?

Damian: Jasper never stops asking about you. He needs his father. And Julie had the baby.

Noah: She had the baby?

Damian: Yeah. A little boy. She named him Wilder.

Noah: That's a terrible name.

Damian: Yeah, that's what I said.

Damian: But there's another thing. Nathan Cochran, do you remember him?

Noah: Yeah, I know Nathan.

Damian: Well, turns out he still owns Jade's half of the lodge, meaning Julie can't open it without working with Nathan.

Noah: She'd never do that. Julie is so rockhard stubborn she'd burn the place down before sharing it with Nathan.

Damian: Yeah, I know. It was the stress of the whole thing that caused her water to break.

Noah: I'll take care of it.

Damian: Take care of it? Like how you took care of Jade?

Noah: This is my family they keep messing with.

Damian: This is also the type of stuff that got your family taken away from you in the first place.

Damian: Look Noah, the crimes, the drugs, the gangs. Julie doesn't want anything to do with that stuff anymore, and the last thing she wants is for her boys to get involved with that shit.

Damian: We both know you're gonna do whatever you're gonna do, but leave them out of it. Get some help, then maybe you can actually be there for your family in a way that matters.
