I love how the bsd fandom was celebrating chuuyas birthday being happy, joyful, a bit of angsty JUST yesterday and then fyodor just comes to ruin the party like that one auntie that no one of the family likes.

YOU’RE IN THE KITCHEN HUMMING
osamu dazai x reader
you show dazai the beauty in domestic life
inspired by sweet nothing
Tumblr media
when dazai pictured his future, he pictured it short.
a mastermind of people, he knew that that the universe would eventually catch up to him. to his crimes, his wrongdoings, and all of his faults. truth be told, he pictured himself in some sort of prison, bleeding out on a stake of revenge, or simply just gone. he never exactly rejected death in the first place. he accepted it with open arms.
so to think he’d find himself, washing dishes from leftover marinated crab meat and glasses stained with sake while you do the laundry is more of a surprise than anything else. every now and then he looks over his shoulder, watching how you handle the delicate fabric of his brown vest with such care. you always use unscented soap. though you certainly have the money to buy lavender, or bergamot, the two of you enjoyed the simplicity of regular soap. because then, it has the scent of home.
but what exactly does home smell like? for so many years, he couldn’t answer that question. how do you match a scent to something that doesn’t exist? maybe he’d say it smelt like the port mafia hallways, or the smell of old bandages. maybe dazai felt that home smelled like it wasn’t there to stay.
now, home smells like you. it smells like the face mask you make him use because he takes shit care of himself. it smells like your bare shoulder in the morning, the patch of skin he always insists he kisses you awake on. it smells like your laughter, your smile, your beautiful eyes. you were home.
“samu?” you quip, pulling your boyfriend out of his trances. he blinks, his lazily draped arms subconsciously tightening around you.
“yes bella?” he asks, his voice lazy and his brown eyes tired from the day. if he could melt and simply become apart of you, he would. you’re the only part of himself he actually seems to love, anyway.
“were you listening?” you chuckle, knowing that he’s a thinker. he loves you for understanding that, for knowing the signs when he’s lost in his own brain. his nail biting, his wandering eyes, his occasional hums. you know it all, maybe better than dazai knows it about himself. you’d give anything to see what he’s thinking, the beautiful equations in his brain.
his lips curve into a smile, refocusing on you as you laid in his lap all tuckered out. “i’m sorry.”
you sigh, half disappointed but half too-love-struck-to-care. he pulls you flush against his chest, letting you listen to the steady rhythm of his heartbeat. oh, how beautiful it sounds.
“i was saying we should go down to that new bakery.” you hum, not minding to recount your experiences for him. “atsushi told me kyouka really likes the crepes there.”
you know he’s listening this time, evident by the way his slender fingers travel through your hair. he loves the silky feel of it, how it may be the softest thing he’s ever felt after years of strangling throats and pulling triggers.
he melts onto that couch with you. the only other sound that can be heard is the occasional drip and drop from the sink. he makes a mental note to check on it in the morning, making sure its not leaking too much.
in his experience, everyone was up to something. no person was just kind for the sake of being kind. and for all his life, people wanted things from dazai. he was used and shaped into a demon when all he’s ever wanted was just to disappear. he insists he’s fine, and that this is just the person he is. he assures everyone that the voices he hears, in and external, don’t bother him at all.
but to you he can admit, that sometimes, he’s just too soft for all of it.
you built a home from the ground up with him. you sheltered and fed a man who never knew what it was like to be loved without condition. all you ever wanted from dazai was nothing. sweet, sweet nothings. and he knew he’d give you everything he is and more in return for that love, for those sweet nothings.

um um um, DEAD SENTINEL HERE.
Tumblr media
V either made it out alive, or didn't and went out with a fight.
The trail of oil on the floor implies either a body was dragged (dead or alive; whether that's by another character or by a sentinel) or she limped away badly injured or something along the lines.

ok so
IM HOPING ITS LIKE A BATTLE STRATEGY
like akutagawa probably heard what fyodor said to atsushi and he knew it would put them both in danger so he chose to act like he had no clue who atsushi was
it could also be bram. being a vampire for any period of time might affect your brain, so whatever happens with the hunting dogs will also be interesting, forgetting about the whole world being infected. it could be that bram actually fucked with aku’s brain so that he forgot who atsushi was. so he would protect aya? it doesn’t seem like something bram would do but its worth guessing
it could be that he did die, and now that he’s back he doesn’t remember everything. it could be temporary amnesia, but that might affect his fighting. akutagawa has had time to recover, and has also had how to fight drilled into his brain. it seems unlikely that he’s forgotten everything or everyone, considering how he’s seemingly using his ability. it might be that akutagawa doesn’t remember anything just yet, but he obviously understands that fyodor is a threat
anyway i sincerely hope it’s the first one, since the other two would upset me to some capacity. the first one would, too. akutagawa isn’t usually one to defend those he doesn’t know. he could be acting like he doesn’t know atsushi as a mental defense rather than a physical one, for you really hardcore shippers. he could be acting like he doesn’t know atsushi to protect atsushi both from fyodor and the rush of euphoria resulting from knowing he’s okay, since a reality check like that would help ground atsushi. who was also definitely acting a bit strange. at his wit’s end, to say it another way
let’s hope they haven’t killed off akutagawa’s memory because. man that would suck

Comprehending Nikolai Gogol; The True King
Regarding Nikolai' Gogol within Bungo Stray Sogs…
Incoming character analyzation which was inspired by my comments of a quiz on Quotev. Here's something: I may have developed a unique perspective on Nikolai's character.
Nikolai is perceived as a clown through and through. However, one of the biggest points in his personality is his longing for freedom.
For this, we need to define his version of "freedom", because from what I've observed, it's rather unusual.
Nikolai is unique in terms of his dynamic with Fyodor Dostoevsky. Why does he choose to be with Fyodor? What is his purpose in serving Fyodor?
To me, it simply doesn't make sense. Fyodor appears to be restricting Nikolai, as a result of Fyodor's very own ideologies binding him to his restrictive humanity. Nikolai standing by Fyodor, it's hardly freedom.
And, let's not forget that his clown persona is a mask. Similar to Dazai, Nikolai wears a mask to conceal his true self. Thus, we raise the question: What purpose does Nikolai's mask serve?
I believe that the mask conceals something. Like how Dazai has multiple personas to protect his vulnerability, Nikolai wears a mask to protect something.
So here, I've got word, from well, myself.
It hides his intelligence.
Nikolai is an intelligent man, capable of serving Fyodor, known as one of the two Kings of one of the Chessboards in Bungo Stray Dogs.
With that being said, understand this: A royal attendant must be able to satisfy the King's needs.
Fyodor requires those who are capable enough to fulfill his tasks, meaning the intelligent. Nikolai is, naturally, capable. From this, we can conclude that he is more than what he lets on, and Fyodor knows this.
Then, it wouldn't be too far-fetched to say that Fyodor keeps Nikolai by his side, in order to control him even better, no?
This hints at Nikolai's true definition of "freedom", and we're almost concluding.
With Nikolai's intelligence, he is clearly aware of Fyodor's blatant attempts to control him. Yet, he continuously abides by the words of Fyodor. Why is this the case?
From my own experience, let me tell you this: When you've been controller for a long, long time, you grow to despise your role.
You wonder when your rule over your chessboard ends, you wish to break free.
Doesn't that sound like Nikolai?
He purposefully plays himself into the hands of Fyodor, letting Fyodor pull his strings as if he was a marionette.
Through this, he doesn't have to work as a manipulator anymore.
He sits back and allows strings to tug him into position, leaving his every move up to Fyodor's control.
And if he is controlled, he no longer needs to control.
Essentially, he breaks away from his control over the chessboard, detaching himself from his mind that only knows to manipulate.
Fyodor is his controller, he escapes through Fyodor. Yet, he's so much more than Fyodor is, logically and emotionally intelligent like a court jester.
In exchange for freedom, Nikolai serves the King.
Am I so wrong, to see that in Nikolai?
Nikolai sees freedom in being controlled by Fyodor.

The Bsd "Fyodor is Atsushi's Father" Theory:
My Not-so-Deep, Not-so-Serious Explanation on Why This Could Totally be Canon
Signed: A Sleep-Deprived Idiot
(Spoilers for the Entirety of Bungou Stray Dogs)
So... with Chapter 118 in bsd releasing, I have noticed a lot of Fyodor as Atsushi's father related things popping up and... I'm not mad about.
If anything, I'm happy the theory is getting more attention. People even seem to be taking it as canon fact, even if just jokingly.
Really, I believed the theory was plausible since it first was brought up in the fandom, but I never actually thought it would be canon because that just seemed too crazy. But those were the thoughts of a sweet summer child since the manga has gotten to the point where that might be the least crazy thing possible.
So, here I am at my keyboard yet again, ready to ramble about how, if this does somehow turn out to be canon, this might be actually rather predictable even to those who don't dive deep into the nitty-gritty lore.
Now, I won't ramble on and on endlessly about the book and Atsushi's ambiguous past and how he may be the book or a page from the book and yaddy-yadda. Instead, I'll focus on some key aspects of Atsushi's character design. First off...
His hair.
As I said, this is not all that serious or deep, so take my words with a grain of salt before you start bashing me or something for being ridiculous. You signed up for ridiculous when you started reading past the title.
Anyway, back to Atsushi's hair.
As we almost all know, Atsushi used to have a black streak in his hair that was later removed for unknown reasons, but he also has white hair.
Now, I could jokingly proclaim, "Hehe, biologically impossible Fyodor x Nikolai lovechild," and be done with it, but I am no clown, unlike Nikolai. No, I have a better, probably completely wrong, idea.
Most of us know that Fyodor has a thing for white-haired men.
Exhibit A: Every fucking member of the Decay of Angels
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I rest my case.
Also, I feel the need to mention that 3 out of 6 of them have red-ish eyes while the other two have purple-ish/blue eyes. Just pointing out that little tidbit I noticed while finding pics for them.
So, it would make sense for Fyodor to pick and choose which attributes to give to his quote-on-quote "son" when he made him from the book, picking out certain traits he found appealing and pleasing to the eye.
(Also, yes, this could mean that Fyodor could have chose specific attributes that were similar to Nikolai. Boom, lovechild route.)
This could explain certain similarities between the characters who seemingly have no biological connection between one another. Their only connection then only being through Fyodor by just knowing him.
Got all that? Alright, next up...
His eyes.
Now, Atsushi's eyes are rather unique, even for the world of Bungou Stray Dogs. What also sticks out about them is the fact that they are pointed out and focused in from time to time.
Example:
Tumblr media
(Fucking gorgeous eyes he has, btw)
To break down the colors of his eyes... While in normal lighting in the anime, they appear to be normally purple and yellow with just a hint of green in it, but under the full moon (as seen here) we can see that his eyes are a light green-yellow at the bottom and purple on the top that fades into blue.
(There are also a few times where his eyes also change while using his ability. Like when they turn almost fully yellow.)
I want to point out the colors of his eyes and the fact that they change due to certain circumstances (i.e: using his ability, being under the full moon), which is clearly not normal in their world seeing as how other ability users don't seem to do that at all.
(Edit here: I actually would like to mention that, in the manga, Nikolai's eyes also change color. The green one sometimes will change to match his normal eye whenever he uncovers it. I saw a theory talking about how it might change depending on whether or not he is lying at the time, which is pretty neat. More Atsushi and Nikolai parallels.)
Now, this might seem like a bit of a stretch just like the rest of this post, but the colors used for his eyes are similar to the eye colors of people Fyodor knows, though they are different shades.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Purple like Fukuchi. Green and blue from Nikolai.
Fyodor's eyes are also a shade of purple, kind of, so... Yeah, that works too, but Fukuchi's shade of eyes are closer to Atsushi's.
Yeah, that's all I can think of now and this is already way too long (if I start talking about Atsushi's mysterious past, I'm going to make this a mile long. Maybe later tho), so I'm ending it here for now.
Alright, bye ya'll.

Valid hypothesis
I know how everyone’s saying how Dazai has to be the one to kill Fyodor, but I still feel like it might be a risky plan. I dunno about you guys, but I feel like we still haven’t gotten the specifics on how Dazai’s ability works. Like does he have to be touching the user, does he just have to stand within range? Who knows
which is why I have come up with the optimal solution(fuck you, Mori). The only thing that can kill Fyodor at this point and save the world:

Some of my theories have ended up being correct but I have no proof cause it was before i made this blog so uhhh
Heres a list of yet to be confirmed theories i have and things I’ve noticed (that i know of cause I haven’t read the light novels)
- Dazai is connected to the book. I will die on this hill now after chapter 119 and will actually bake an apology cake if im wrong
- final words don’t mean shit. If a death of a major character is quick or off screen or a cliffhanger, they’re probably fine. If they drop major lore, advice, and/or we linger on their death for a while and actively mourned, they’re probably fucked. Its all about the full final moments and aftermath
- there will probably be one more major arc after the current one based around The Order of the Clock Tower and then BSD will either start winding down or finish up the main manga completely. I’ll actually be shocked if Asagiri can escalate the plot more than that besides actually fighting a true balls to the wall god or Asagiri himself
- maybe its my love of tragedy, but i think soukoku, shin soukoku, or boomer soukoku will not survive to the end of the series. Maybe all three duos will perish or just one but at the very least, Fukuzawa dying was set up a while ago with the discussion of who would take over the agency “in case something happened to the president”
I’ll probably add more to this later

Okay if atsushi is the bookmark, is dazai the one reading book?
I mean all the phases of Atsushi, Dazai helped him grow, sometimes forced him in situations to grow but yeah.
Also atsushi doesn't have to be alive to trace the book???????

I was thinking about this and I just wonder why Guinevere said "someone whose heart you can never have". Why never? There are only 3 possibilities:
1. She is basically incapable of loving someone. And we know this isn't true because she had a crush on Meliodas when she was 12-13 (which is utterly STUPID and I refuse to accept that it was that serious) but anyway that means she's capable of liking someone romantically.
2. She's dead... Which, could be but I don't think Arthur is crazy enough to kill the woman he supposedly loves (which is, once again, STUPID) and she's also powerful enough to protect herself from anyone who tries. And I'm not coming up with anyone in particular who would want her dead...
So, that left one possibility.
3. She already loves someone else.
And again, I'm not coming up with any name (except for Escanor)....
The fact that Guinevere knew it wasn't the real Merlin implies that she must have seen the real Merlin in her vision, doing something that confirmed to Guinevere that she's not on his side/her heart doesn't belong to Arthur. Or Guinevere was just saying things to hurt/offense Arthur and I'm reading too much into it lol

Who got promoted to replace Ace after his death? I know his death was the start of Fyodor's menace streak, and the Port Mafia probably didn't care to fill the seat since they had much bigger issues to attend to, however now that the arc's terrorist conflict is wrapped up, Mōri now has time to attend to his inside duties as boss.
I personally believe that if Mōri had to choose, it'd be one of the black lizard, they're quite competent (other than being beaten up by Kenji), but it still somehow doesn't feel right.
I can just imagine the Ada transferee being the one assigned to the role out of nowhere, and no one has the right to object, because, 'don't question boss' orders, and don't try to understand them, just do what you're told.'
IMAGINE EXECUTIVE KENJI 😭😭
JUN'NICHIRŌ WOULD BE SO AWKWARD, BUT FEARED
OR OMFG ATSUSHI
KUNIKIDA WOULD OVERTHROW MŌRI, AND TURN THE MAFIA INTO HIS IDEAL ORGANIZATION AJDBHDBDHDB

fullmetal alchemist is one of my favourite pieces of media of all time, and i say that with confidence. one of the most reoccurring themes in the show is morality, and the true value of life. i saw these themes show up in bsd chapter 117, so i wanted to write about it.
in fullmental alchemist, we see both edward and alphonse elric challenge these laws in their journey to re-obtain their bodies. edward, specifically, a young man who has seen the truth, does not let vastness of the universe and its secrets stop him from restoring his brother.
but what is the truth? in the show, the truth is god, yet isn’t god. the truth is god to some people but not to all. to others, truth is the universe. truth embodies the world of fullmetal alchemist like deity and a monad. truth is all and one at the same time. and, as he tells edward, he is also within us.
Tumblr media
look familar?
Tumblr media
the concept of being all, yet none, perfect, yet devoid of anything, is an interesting one. if being all also encompasses nothing, how can one thing be everything? how can everything also be nothing?
one is all, and all is one refers to the idea that the universe is all connected in some way. that every single thing, from the smallest ant on your shoe to the vast blue sky, is connected. everything in the universe works to push it forward.
if everything matters, nothing matters.
and that piece of knowledge can really mess up your mind.
in fullmetal alchemist, we see how the brothers are forced to question the value of human life. for a portion of the show, they’re determined to obtain the philosophers stone in order to restore their bodies, only to learn that the stone itself is made of human lives. as alchemists, they live by the concept of equivalent exchange. you cannot attain something without giving something. for edward and alphonse, nothing, not even the promise of their bodies back, is worth the cost of human life. but for other characters, like ling or father, there are things worth giving human lives for. for ling, it was immorality, and for father, it was ultimate power and knowledge. one of the things we learn is just how difficult it is to put a price on life.
in bungo stray dogs, a large portion of the story focuses on existentialism. we see certain characters live for certain things. some find reasons, like protecting others, orphans, saving lives, restoring justice, or even revenge. some characters suggest that life is valuable for the sole reason that it is. our protagonist, atsushi, searches for that reason to live. akutagawa, his main cinematic parallel, asks him if he believes that saving others will suddenly make him worthy of life. but that only raises another question- what does make someone worthy of living? are people even worthy of living to begin with?
back to the original point of being both everything and nothing. if everything matters and is of equal importance- like the tapping of a keyboard or the birth of a baby, than nothing matters. the idea that everything matters and nothing matters point to the exact same thing- everything is of equal importance. we’re all going to die some day. no matter what we do, we’re headed towards the same fate, so every single moment is important. at least, thats what i think.
in short, i love shows that force characters to challenge the truth of the universe. fullmetal alchemist does it wonderfully, and i hope to see where bungo stray dogs will take it.
@ashenaura pointed this out originally and gave me a reason to yap so thank you! 🤍
also hoping that teruko and kunikida will somehow survive
