It's funny that Alex Salmond, JKR, and other transphobes are blaming SNP losses on the GRC reform bill when the Scottish Labour Party supported self-id and supported the bill.

You need a Pain in the Arse...
BLOG: You need a Pain in the Arse... My name is Paul Cruikshank and I am a Rules Lawyering, question asking, "Umm Actually"ing, Pain in the Arse... ...but I think you'll find that's a good thing, actually.
I was, for one reason or another, in the Scottish Labour HQ last week for a meeting, and before the meeting started a member of party staff (who is a friend of mine and knows exactly what kind of person I am) offered me a coffee. It came in a newly branded Scottish Labour mug. The first thing I did was not thank him (sorry dad), but spin the mug around, look at him, and say “There’s no imprint1…

A “Summer Blitz” of illegal immigration raids.
Just checking as I’ve heard it before, is it still too early in the Labour Government for me to criticise them?
They can’t scrap the two-child cap because there’s “no money” but they can ramp up deportations?

Brian Melley and Jill Lawless at Associated Press, via ABC News:
LONDON -- Britain’s Labour Party swept to power Friday after more than a decade in opposition, as a jaded electorate handed the party a landslide victory — but also a mammoth task of reinvigorating a stagnant economy and dispirited nation.
Labour leader Keir Starmer will officially become prime minister later in the day, leading his party back to government less than five years after it suffered its worst defeat in almost a century. In the merciless choreography of British politics, he will take charge in 10 Downing St. hours after Thursday's votes are counted — as Conservative leader Rishi Sunak is hustled out. “A mandate like this comes with a great responsibility,” Starmer acknowledged in a speech to supporters, saying that the fight to regain people’s trust after years of disillusionment “is the battle that defines our age." Speaking as drawn broke in London, he said Labour would offer “the sunlight of hope, pale at first but getting stronger through the day.” Sunak conceded defeat, saying the voters had delivered a “sobering verdict.” For Starmer, it's a massive triumph that will bring huge challenges, as he faces a weary electorate impatient for change against a gloomy backdrop of economic malaise, mounting distrust in institutions and a fraying social fabric. [...]
Britain has experienced a run of turbulent years — some of it of the Conservatives’ own making and some of it not — that has left many voters pessimistic about their country’s future. The U.K.’s exit from the European Union followed by the COVID-19 pandemic and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine battered the economy, while lockdown-breaching parties held by then-Prime Minister Boris Johnson and his staff caused widespread anger. Johnson’s successor, Liz Truss, rocked the economy further with a package of drastic tax cuts and lasted just 49 days in office. Rising poverty, crumbling infrastructure and overstretched National Health Service have led to gripes about “Broken Britain.” While the result appears to buck recent rightward electoral shifts in Europe, including in France and Italy, many of those same populist undercurrents flow in Britain. Reform UK leader Nigel Farage has roiled the race with his party’s anti-immigrant “take our country back” sentiment and undercut support for the Conservatives and even grabbed some voters from Labour. The exit poll suggested Labour was on course to win about 410 seats in the 650-seat House of Commons and the Conservatives 131. With a majority of results in, the broad picture of a Labour landslide was borne out, though estimates of the final tally varied.
[...] The Liberal Democrats won more than 60 seats, on a slightly lower share of the vote than Reform because its votes were more efficiently distributed. In Britain's first-past-the-post system, the candidate with the most votes in each constituency wins. The Green Party have won four seats, up from just one before the election. One of the biggest losers was the Scottish National Party, which held most of Scotland's 57 seats before the election but looked set to lose all but handful, mostly to Labour.
In the United Kingdom, the Rishi Sunak-led disaster class Tories have been sent packing at the ballot box and fall down to Official Opposition Status at around 120 seats, as Keir Starmer’s Labour is set to make mammoth gains. The Lib Dems have recovered to become the 3rd largest party in Westminster.

#fuck me sorry but that post actually unlocked so many memories for me rn and i simply must get them out lmao#anyways i just wish there was a way i could tell my geography teacher how much of an impact she made on my life#it absolutely shook my world view up when we did our lesson on migration and she asked me what the positives to immigration were#me. a brown girl living in britain her whole life where all she really saw and understood was an inherent hatred for immigrants.#and so i prattled off the textbook answer- they bring people who can do labour and earn more money for the country#and shes like 'and?' and i drew a blank. i couldnt think of anything else. what else were they worthy for?#and she explains. she says music. and food. and culture. and god. im tearing up just thinking about it. like in that single moment she just#fucking changed everything for me. like yeah. yeah ppl do bring that. they make this place everything it is. they bring Life to this place.#i feel like my words are so jumbled lmao idk how else to explain it i am simply soooooooooooooooooo emo like seriously#and it wasnt after i didnt have her as a teacher i was told my one of my friends that she always gives the best student in her class a#a yellow ring binder. the rest get green. guess what one i got. LIKE IM GOING TO CRY AND NEVER STOP. and i didnt know!! i never fucking knew#i literally remember her that day when she was like ah seems im all out @ H could you follow me pls and ill get you answer one from storage#and then she gave me a yellow ring binder like. fuck me man. fuuuuuuckkkkkkkkkkk#and i think back so much because she had a scottish sounding second name but she was married. and part of me thinks maybe her parents were#polish? just from context clues. but i dont actually know. and part of me is like am i just romanticising her? i didnt actually know who she#was. all i have is these little moments and how she treated me and the fact i liked her class#and people were so rude about her btw. like thought she was a dickhead. but she wasnt. she actually wasnt she just didnt take ppls shit. :((#and now im remembering that time i didnt do my homework and my friend took my jotter from the pile AS SHE WAS MARKING THEM and brought it#to me so i could copy off her#and ngl i always thought it was funny and sneaky but now im realising she probably fucking knew and didnt say anything because she liked us#god im gonna cry#i hope youre ok out there and i hope youre happy. i hope my idea of you is correct.#*insert spongebob laying on ground meme*#le text post

CW: Transphobia.
This is just outright bragging and being proud of open corruption. Actively admitting they put idealogue hacks into medical and human rights positions instead of experts.
Also Scotland should be furious too they are proudly admitting about overturning our democratic will.

USians you will be distressed to know that in the UK far right people use Trump flags, MAGA hats and even confederate flags to signify their allegiances to each other.
#saw the first 2 today#and have unfortunately seen the 3rd in the past#there was a massive right wing march in london today#i dont even know what the catalyst was-labour getting elected? reform not doing as well as they wanted?#either way it was FULL of the above and more#plenty of england flags- outside of international football this is basically always a racist thing#but also a TONNE of union flags#and a notable amount of welsh scottish and irish#is this some kind of right wingers unite across the country thing?#then there were a few flags from other countries in europe and also notably israel#tonnes of the lest we forget ww1 soldiers and poppies flag which is another right wing rallying point#though like country flags it isnt automatically one#going back to the trump thing- it would be tempting to make fun of MAGA used in the uk (and i did)#but its obviously the sentiment (make our country great again in a non specific way that's probably about hating immigrants)#that matters here. not being able to vote for trump doesnt bother them they just want to emulate him and support politicians that do#one guy even had a goddamn trump 2020 flag ffs#like yknow the election he LOST#anyway it was fucked i hate all of this#but it did make me think about the right's allegiances and values#both overt and hidden
