Why does everyone HATE Taylor Swift bro. Like no one has to like her or her music but there are so many artists I don't like but I just dont give a fuck about them yk?
I like so many more artists of different genres with the same bandwidth that I like her, so I wouldn't call myself a hardcore swiftie but I know the lyrics to nearly all of her music, take that as you will.
And any argument for HATE can't be justified in my opinion.
1) Like you don't like her music- DONT LISTEN TO IT?? People say all her musuc sounds the same eventhough she has albums in pop, country, indie genres. She writes about a lot of stuff. Most people who say this have not heard anything beyond top 10-
2) Tyler, the creator has written a song about how he wants to rape women. Eminem has songs about domestically abusing his ex-wife and burying her. "But it was so long ago" and yet people pull out her lyrics because they are cringe.
2) She hasn't even been on the top 10 carbon emittors this year or the year before or the year before or the- (you get my point) She is the face of jet usage and for what? Beyonce was 6th in 2023, no one called her out for it. Travis Scott has been the 1st/2nd for a couple of years now. No one mentions that. Even Celine Dion is at 10th. Several Kardashians are on the list. Why is she being criticized for not even being on the list.
3) And as for the whole, she only writes about her exes? I could name more than 2 dozen songs on spot that are not about her romantic life. Even most of her top songs are not about her romantic life. (Ex - Antihero, you belong with me, cruel summer, blank space, shake it off, bad blood etc etc) Several other artists do this too. That's just what people write about. And criticizing her for having romantic relationships is just fucking stupid. Most artists have had more relationships than her. I don't get this argument.
4) And her fanbase is criticized with 'only straight white teenage girls listen to it'. Like a majority of white Anerican singers - she has a white fanbase. I am an Indian enby lesbian and I still enjoy her music. Why is something trash just because teenage girls like it? The Beatles had a largely female fanbase and now they are classics.
5) Her fans are crazy - most popular singers have a sub-section of people who are insane. I'm not defending them because they scare me too but there are worse fandoms.
6) The stupidest one by far - She uses feminism as a selling point. I am yet to hear of anyone listening to her because she is a feminist. Just because she likes doing/wearing stereotypically girly things does not mean she can't talk about being a feminist. In the same vein, she released a song about supporting queer people to gain money. Are you even hearing yourself...
7) She is ruining football. I'm not even going to defend this, she attended matches, why does that piss you off. Grow up.
She pays her workers well (VERY WELL), she donated in the food banks of every city she's toured in with the Eras Tour, she supports artists in award shows. She is a safe space for so many young girls, it seems so rude to hate someone who is kind and brings joy to so many young people.
Yes, she isn't perfect, she releases several vinyls for a quick cash grab, she has too many remixes, just because she isn't in the top 10 emitters, doesn't mean she's not there at all but hating her for this. It does not make sense to me. Don't like her, don't talk about her. It's really that simple.
(Did I mention how this hate escalats to violence, how her shows were going to be bombed, how people STABBED little girls in a taylor swift themes dance recital. STABBED. How a lot of the comments regardingthese events was stuff like 'you should have killed them all' 'the show should' happened so all of them die')

Two Crowleys
A while ago, the wonderful mind of @noneorother posted this meta about the puppets in the magic shop.
The observation that there appear to be two Crowleys in the shot of the puppet arrangement had me absolutely scratching my head and thinking they must be mistaken somehow.
(pic from @noneorother)
But then I got my hands on some of the Amazon X-ray extras, and discovered these little gems from the album covers in Maggie's record shop:
Now, going back to our color-coding for a moment, we may not know what all the colors in Good Omens mean, and we may not have all the colors down. But we do know a few, and we know that color-coding in Good Omens does exist, and that it matters.
Auburn and vavoom yellow are Crowley's colors. They are the colors of his hair and eyes. Black and scarlet red are the colors he wears. So those four colors are Crowley-coded colors. Okay.
Thus, these two record albums from Maggie's shop are Crowley-colored. Now, notice something important? Well, two things. The first -- Raga Koboj has TWO little sharp-clawed critters peering out at us from behind blinds. I daresay they are meant to be little cartoon demons, yes? And CT Bazz: Dank Balaclava features a face in a red ski mask. People usually wear ski masks if A. it's cold as tits outside, or B. if they're trying to hide their identity. So both albums feature Crowley colors AND images of hiding -- plus one features an image of twinsies.
The other important thing takes us back to color-coding. What other color do we see here besides our well-known Crowley colors? On Raga Koboj, the auburn and vavoom yellow blend into each other -- creating orange between them. And Dank Balaclava features a cigarette being lit -- with a little flair of orange fire.
(Edit to add: The name of that first album is Raga Koboj, which is a style of Indian music. A very famous tale in India is of the Warrior Goddess Kahli fighting demons who kept replicating themselves. Every time a drop of blood would hit the ground, a new demon would spring up. She went on a rampage trying to destroy them all, and her husband had to throw himself in her path to stop her. Hmm . . .)
This leads me to believe two things: Yes, TWO Crowleys. One Crowley in hiding, the other a twin. And that orange is Crowley's secret color.
Where else do we see orange?
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/48e6ce1c94c00e1c28c32421a62161b4/1e60afb62a5d6195-11/s540x810/24798454e981cdf99c838f0658cda52e05508f80.jpg)
Yep, the pillars in Aziraphale's shop. Which we also know is painted Crowley Auburn on the outside and Vavoom Yellow on the inside. With accents of this nice saffron orange on the pillars.
Want more proof? Okay.
Several people have noted that Aziraphale and Crowley keep to each other's right and left, respectively. Aziraphale on the right, Crowley on the left. In season 1, whenever they are on the opposite sides of each other, something's up. Not wrong, necessarily, but not in proper order. As in the image-swap/body-swap. Several people have also noted that Crowley is on Aziraphale's right far more frequently in season 2. And look here:
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/00ab484a56c1f3d1177b632eeba3eb5b/1e60afb62a5d6195-f0/s540x810/9e1dd374d925c4c49936c6b5492701124253d7f7.webp)
Aziraphale looks instinctively to his left when Crowley approaches -- only this Crowley, the twin, is not approaching on Aziraphale's left. This happens in more than one scene.
And when Aziraphale introduces Crowley to Nina in the coffee shop in episode one, he says, "This is, um, Crowley." As if he's quickly deciding how to name this individual who looks like his demon but approached on his right. Aziraphale "ums" and hesitates a lot this season, but he's also lying a lot. Hesitation and "um" is one of his tells.
I believe Aziraphale knows this isn't Crowley 1.0. But he acts and talks to this Crowley as if it's Crowley 1.0, so I don't think it's an imposter or someone pretending to be Crowley who isn't. I think Crowley's split himself in two. Am I sure about that? No. But it's where I'm leaning at this moment.
But Crowley 1.0 isn't missing entirely. Look here:
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/6897fc23d1ae89b8c8525baead9ee71e/1e60afb62a5d6195-88/s540x810/0b97feae30e7105a2f2248ae3a2e09a9ff304744.jpg)
Aziraphale is looking over his left shoulder for his demon, and Crowley's right there, where he should be.
So yeah, TWO Crowleys.
Now where the heck is Crowley while his twin is out walking around on Aziraphale's right side? I really don't know what he might be up to, but I think he's in contact. Reachable, at least.
Let's look at this one again. Who's this?
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/48e6ce1c94c00e1c28c32421a62161b4/1e60afb62a5d6195-11/s540x810/24798454e981cdf99c838f0658cda52e05508f80.jpg)
No, not the guy in the foreground. The guy in the back. No, not the dude wearing tartan, the other guy. The guy in front of the ORANGE pillar, the guy on Crowley-twin's LEFT shoulder.
Is that Crowley 1.0? Or at least, a way for Crowley to be in touch while he's off doing whatever the heck he's doing? I think it is.
Would you like some more proof?
Okay. How about another record album from Maggie's shop?
Back to color-coding again. That baby-blue/red combo seems to indicate Crowley and Aziraphale's relationship together. The baby-blue is the color of Aziraphale's shirt, while the red is one that Crowley wears, mostly around his neck, although it also appears elsewhere in his costuming.
Au Revoir, Fingers! Crowley's just a head now. But a head has ears and eyes, so Aziraphale can communicate with it. As I suspect he tries to here, before Jim interrupts:
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/272fef4b6a20e49caff1d83035d4daa1/1e60afb62a5d6195-fc/s540x810/9aa061ebfd776a39fc1832131bbaef707c8da1b0.webp)
But wait. Back to Au Revoir Fingers for a moment. Red Eye Smile?
And red eyes? Fuck me.
A very few people have pointed out that there are lots of dual red taillights in multiple shots, frequently framed rather carefully. I had dismissed it, as I usually do when something turns out to be freaking important.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/a26758e4b11af174cddd35a0388bfdcc/1e60afb62a5d6195-05/s540x810/eb9cbaf9b303ab8f37a33ead647312be36714692.jpg)
Someone's watching. I think it might be Crowley 1.0.
Then there's that bit where he's driving back to Whickber street, after coming back from Hell, and he first zooms around a bus with red taillights and says, "There's only room for one of us in this lane and it's not you," then he changes a pair of red stop lights to green and says "Don't you even think about it. There, that's better." Is he arguing with himself?? Telling the Other Crowley that it's his turn right now, not his? Of course I can't find a GIF or picture of that right now, but you know what I mean, right? Neil had to cut a bunch of material out of the finished show to fit Amazon's time limit requirements. That scene would seem to be an easy cut to make -- unless the scene matters to the overall plot too much to cut.
I also suspect that Crowley might be talking to himself in the book shop at the end of season 2. You know, when he turns Aziraphale's chair around to face the right way, but when Maggie and Nina come in it's facing the center of the room again? I suspect Crowley 1.0 and 2.0 had a chat. I do not know about what. Just sharing information?
I also wonder if Crowley 2.0 might have his own POV scenes -- thus confusing the already complicated POV situation even more. The white head statue sure gets several shots where it's in center frame, as if it is the POV character in that scene.
That's what I got, my fellow brain rotters. There's my evidence.
In conclusion: Two Crowleys. Yeah, I think so. Now, for the big question:
WHY???
What is Crowley doing that there needs to be two of him? And is it just twinsies, or is that someone else pretending to be Crowley and I'm wrong? Aziraphale definitely seems to know that's NOT his original Crowley, but tells the demon important information without hesitation, so I'm still suspecting Crowley twinned himself. But what if I'm wrong? Who is it then? And why are they pretending to be Crowley? And why does Aziraphale seem to know it's not Crowley, but still talk to him like it is?
I have no answers.
Thanks for crackpotting and going nuts with me, yet again. I hope this keeps you up at night like it's done me.

So just saw your post about not voting for trump. Good post. He's not a white nationalist though. Real white nationalists respect indigenous people. Place for every race and all that. He's just the run of the mill politician who says what he thinks will give him the most voters. Anyway, you'd probably be better treated by a white nationalist government lol.
This has been sitting in my ask box for like a month but just... Damn. This is wild.
You're telling me that I, a queer mixed Indigenous AFAB person who technically can be considered disabled, am respected by... White Supremacists? White Supremacists want me dead. I live in Texas. I come in contact with White Supremacists literally on a near daily basis.
They are the first ones to throw slurs at me. They are the first to say I should go back to my own country (and then say Reservation when I say that this is my country). They are the first ones to literally throw things at me at my day job. I have had people who I know for a fact are literally, LITERALLY, in the KKK, come into my job and ask why someone like me is working up front in a public establishment.
Again, I am mixed race. White Supremacists often either hate me off the bat because they know I'm mixed or see me as a minority and me simply existing in the same space as them is an affront. However, when they think I'm full White (as I am Italian and have been told I pass as Italian), and then find out I'm mixed it's so much worse. They take it as I lied to them. I had one customer at work a few years ago that we kind of flirted, and he was talking about taking me out when my job slowed down. I mentioned something off handedly about turquoise jewelry a few visits later, and he asked if I was "Indian". When I said yes, a total 180. He started accusing me of lying to him, saying I wanted to taint his blood line, blah blah blah.
Here's what you need to understand, sticking up for White Supremacists is just as fucked as being one. White Supremacists don't respect Indigenous Peoples. They want us gone. They want us somewhere they never have to see us. Reservations are not something we got out of respect. We have Reservations because we were forced to and it was all we were allowed. This is my ancestral land, and they still think I should be forced to live in another state because the government decided over a century ago (as the Nation I'm registered with was one of the last to be forced onto a Reservation) because they want to live here, in America, on traditional land, without wanting to see us.
White Supremacists don't respect us or any minorities. They want us out of their face. "A place for all races" just means out of their face or in what they consider in our place. A White Supremacist government is what created Reservations in the first place. A White Supremacist government is what forced my great grandmother's grandfather to be born on the side of the road during the march to the Reservation.
I am a firm believer that America is a Melting Pot. I am mixed race. I am proud of every aspect of who I am. I can list every ethnicity/race I am as I and my family are firm believers in knowing where you come from. As a child, my mom would quiz me on what I was and what side of my family it came from. It is important to know who and what you are. I have no issue with people being proud of who they are. There is no issue with wanting to only date/marry inside your culture imo. I don't have a problem with that. What is a problem is that White Supremacists (which is what I was calling Trump in my previous post) don't do that. They think they are better than other races. They don't want to even interact with other races. They. Are. Racist. And so is Trump. He called on the Proud Boys, a known White Supremacist group. Be serious.

I absolutely HATE the way customers at work think it’s normal to start guessing my ethnicity. The only time it doesn’t annoy me is if someone genuinely thought I was from the same country as they were. Like when Indian people think I’m Indian it’s okay.
But when a white person or Latino person incorrectly guesses that I’m Indian it makes my fucking blood boil, and then they start making even more wrong guesses. “Are you Persian ? Are you Middle Eastern? Are you Egyptian? Are you Native? Are you from Guatemala?”
No, no, no and no. What’s with the guessing? Why does it even fucking matter?? If I can be frank, it seems like white men & latinos of any gender are SUPER OBSESSED with guessing where people are from. And sometimes they start guessing things that aren’t even countries or ethnicities- like Latino people constantly trying to guess if I’m Jewish or Muslim (two very different things but apparently they’re the same thing to white Latinos because they both have dark hair + big noses)
Some of them have literally confessed into my face “oh it’s the nose and the hair, and your skin tone” Oh so you just confessed to racially profiling me based on my fucking nose.. And not to mention it’s highly racist that they want to act confused that I’m not middle eastern as if only middle eastern people have unique noses.
It’s like they’re basically saying this to me through a series of questions and responses:
wait you’re not middle eastern???? You’re not Jewish???? You’re not from IRAQ?’?!!?,,,, BUT I THOUGHT PEOPLE WITH BLACK HAIR AND BIG NOSES ARE ALL FROM JEWISH AND MIDDLE EAST. MY BRAIN IS BROKEN I DO NOT UNDERSTAND THIS… WHERE ARE YOU FROM THEN??? YOU MUST BE SOME SORT OF NATIVE PERSON?? NO?? OK THEN YOU MUST BE FROM GUATEMALA BECAUSE THATS THE ONLY LATIN COUNTRY WHERE PEOPLE HAVE SUPER DARK HAIR AND BIG NOSES? AM I RIGHT? DID I GUESS YOUR RACE CORRECTLY? NO??
I guess I’m the only one who was taught by my parents that probing anyone on their ethnic background is fucking rude? It’s also the fact that they are not saying things like “oh you’re so pretty, where are you from?” they are asking me where I am from just point blank. It’s weird.
I know there’s a word for this kind of thing, when people guess your ethnicity based on the size of your head or the shape of your nose.. but it’s 2024 what the fuck is going here? No one should be that stupid to believe only Persians or Guatemalans have big noses. The whole thing is just fucking stupid man.

how does writing james as south asian change his character?
i've seen a few people discussing this recently—how they don't like the hc because no one seems to account for how much this would change his character.
i agree! i write canon james as indian (usually hyderabadi but there's a few fics where i've changed that) but yea it can be difficult to reconcile him as the popular golden boy in 1970s GB with the racism of 1970s GB. not to say anything about the subconscious racism that often comes with this interpretation of his character.
we never really see james. we see him in snape's and voldemort's memories, and in harry's dementor-induced recollections, not in-person.
there are a few character traits we can pull out: arrogant, clever, athletic, loyal, brave, cruel, self-involved. when i think of james potter i try to imagine what an eton boy would be like if he actually took part in self-reflection. these traits connect to him being popular and talented in a way that makes severus jealous.
he's the masculine ideal. james naturally fit into the idea of a what a man "should be", with the exception of his race if you hc him as south asian. men do not have to be kind, they have to be powerful. his rivalry with someone in a lower class—and it should be noted that severus' main rival is james, not sirius—and his subsequent wins cement his class status.
so, severus and james' rivalry. if you take the canon white, half-blood, working class severus and a hc of south asian, pureblood, upper class james, you have tension between these three markers of status.
my impression of GB society is that class operates cross-generationally, in a way it follows genetics. social class in england (and a lot of parts of south asia) was seen as a marker of your inherent status and worth.
so severus is white, but he's got a muggle dad, he's working class, and he's far from the masculine ideal. james is south asian, pureblood and upper class while being the masculine ideal. their dynamic in this context could be seen as either trying to assert their status, though i think it's severus who is consciously doing this. james just sees most people as less than him and sirius.
severus may also be more jealous of james than sirius because he doesn't think james deserves his status, it should be severus who is raised beyond what his birth entitled him to! severus' ideology is blood supremacist, and though he hates sirius at least sirius acting like he's better than severus is par for the course. it's not as embarrassing as james potter's superiority complex.
but, how did james develop a superiority complex in a world that actively oppresses him? the same way me and my bestie did. meeting young, understanding each other, being naturally intelligent, and having no one else who really gets it. prongsfoot 5eva. james even has an advantage neither of us had, being the only child and being spoiled. open your minds. oppressed people can be arrogant assholes.*
but how did he get popular? this is a better question. honestly, i think charisma, money, and the "rebel" aspect of james made him intriguing to a lot of people.
when it comes to integrating the greater world politics of the period, i hc that due to the collaboration of some upper caste families in india during the colonial period (historical fact) there's a fair amount of south asian wizarding families that have middling status. this makes it easier for him to integrate into the hogwarts social sphere.
the social mores of muggleborns and half-bloods who interact with the muggle world would also be impacted by the multiple civil rights movements of the 60s and 70s. generally young people put on a rebellious, progressive veneer, so this melts into general hogwarts society.
all of this to say, i think james fits the social roles of a pureblood man with a "rebellious" edge that is appealing to young people, and if he is south asian part of that edge is because of his race. that's gross! it's realistic, imo. he doesn't deviate too far from acceptable until he joins the anti-fascist militia. i think most of us understand what it means to be the "acceptable other"
i don't think james being south asian weakens his role in the story as the perfect man. that role is deconstructed, and the contrast of james having more social power in the wizarding world and lily having more social power in the muggle world is interesting to me.
tbh, i've been hc james this way since i was a teenager and didn't think it out until the last few years. i really like the hc but i needed it to make sense to engage with the canon in a complex way.
*this is a joke. i understand that this is complicated and discrimination will always have an impact. i just also think a lot of you see oppressed ppl (esp. poc since this is such a white fandom**) as pure angels and it's weird. most of the ppl making the initial argument at the top of the post are NOT being weird about it
**i am a white american so take what you want from that

Shatrujeet Unit & Shadow Company
What if I told you, that the Shatrujeet Unit and Shadow Company.. have worked before?
The Shatrujeet Unit has a long and complicated history with General Shepherd, the U.S. Army Officer who commands his own private mercenary force, Shadow Company. The Shatrujeet Unit, which is an elite division created by the PARA SF, has been involved in numerous joint operations, including Shadow Company, conducting high-risk missions across various conflict zones. However, despite their shared battlefield experience, tensions have always existed between the two groups.
BACKSTORY / PAST:
A top-secret joint operation was conducted by the Indian Army and the U.S. Army, involving the Shatrujeet Unit, led by Captain Arjun K. Dhingra, and Shadow Company, commanded by Phillip Graves. Their mission was to extract a high-value target (HVT) who was linked to an international smuggling cartel.
The unit was focused on capturing the HVT and gathering as much intelligence as possible. However, they were unaware that Shadow Company had different plans, different orders. General Shepherd had instructed them to eliminate the HVT on the spot, leaving no space for a trial or gathering intelligence, creating confusion and clash of ideals together.
It was even worse when they were killing every single witness in cold-blood, using ruthless tactics to even take down civilians, who had no role in this mission. The Captain was truly enraged by this, but for the safety of his unit, he decided to keep the mission following suit, but imprinted an everlasting impression of the team in his head.
Arjun, angrily: You just killed someone that we needed alive, Graves. That intel could’ve saved lives, not just names on a report!
Graves, calmly: In our world, Captain, we end the threat. No time for feelings.
Arjun, glares at him: What about morals, huh?
Graves: Morals? Nice theory, but it doesn’t win wars, Captain.
Due to their conflicting mindsets, the Captain and the Commander never got together with each other.
The mission's conclusion was then covered up as that the team neutralized the HVT as "self-defense", and mentioned that the civilian casualties were caused by the local insurgents in the area — thus, covering up the actions caused by the Shadow Company, in reality. This truth enraged Arjun, but Major Kulshrestha persuaded him not to interfere, knowing the consequences. Though he shared Arjun's anger, he understood the cost of acting on it.
PRESENT (MODERN DAY, 2022)
Arjun's doubts about Shadow Company grew from their past joint-missions. It shocked him when he joined Task Force 141 and found out that both they and Los Vaqueros had teamed up with Shadow Company. He wondered what would happen if they started making their own rules after the mission. Overall, Price and the rest were surprised to learn that Arjun and Graves had met before Arjun's arrival in the 141 — unaware that the two had never gotten along for a long time.
Graves, smiles as he shakes hands with him: I think we have met before, Captain Dhingra.
Arjun, tightly holding his hand, with a sharp expression: .. I feel so the same.
But after all of this, why would the Shatrujeet Unit continue to work for the Shadow Company together as a group, even after knowing they're people with no morals? They say, you even shake hands with the enemies to get your job done quicker. This is the scenario. Knowing the Shadow Company had never related to their ethics, they'd rather work with them strategically and diplomatically, knowing the potential they have as well.
Furthermore, knowing General Shepherd's power and influence, Arjun couldn’t afford to risk his unit or his country’s security over one ideological conflict, so he chose to stay silent, observing how things would unfold. Similarly, Task Force 141 never fully trusted Shadow Company or Shepherd, and after the betrayal in Las Almas, their suspicions aligned with Arjun’s.
Hope the conflict between Arjun and Graves now makes sense, as they both refuse to follow each other's orders, due to their differing morals, ethics, and ways of functioning.
Let me know what y'all think about it.. I'm very nervous, guys *sniff*

3:35 | aespa karina
pairing: karina x gn!reader
genre: angst
word count: 0.5k
warnings: descriptions of blood, violence, murder – please don’t read if you are uncomfortable !
a/n: drama mv has me inspired :D
The katana arched through the air, striking true.
Their throat was sliced clean open, blood spurted out as the man crumpled to the floor. Karina had already moved on.
You had to clasp both palms over your mouth to stop yourself from letting out a scream and giving yourself away from your hiding spot. The pain of your cheeks being crushed into your teeth was the only thing grounding you. The action was stopping you from breathing. You wanted to take in large breaths of air, anything to alleviate the crushing weight in your chest, but you feared if you even tried to inhale, they’d find you.
Perhaps you should have moved, bolted out from the bar when you had the chance. However, you’d lost all control over your legs, completely useless sprawled underneath you while you stayed covered beside the entrance to the bar. Even crawling away to hide behind the bar proved to be difficult in your state, you were trembling far too much.
The sound of glass shattering brought you out of your thoughts. Instinctively, your hands wrapped around your head as a whimper escaped your lips. Tears streamed freely down your face as you began to question every decision that led to this moment, how could you have been so naive?
You must look so stupid.
The two of you couldn’t be more opposed. While you were a blubbering, incoherent mess, Karina seemed far removed from the fight she was winning.
Every slow step she took was one taken with confidence. Her wide steps and straight posture emanated strength as she swung her blade around with unbelievable ease. Every attack was a point to her name, and none of her moves were wasted. Watching her fight was akin to watching the climax of a performance, it was difficult to look away. She didn’t even blink when droplets of blood landed on her face.
Instead, she turned around and drove her blade clean through someone's stomach before dragging it out. This time, you couldn’t stop the scream that left you.
Karina’s gaze moved to you, slow and steady. Her eyes were half-lidded, completely vacant. Emotionless.
When an attacker changed trajectory and made a move towards you, Karina was quick to stop them. You hadn’t even seen how it happened, couldn’t make any sense of it. One moment they were both standing. The next, the assailant was lying on their back at your feet, their blank stare looking up at you while she wrenched her sword out of their chest. Warm blood splattered across your face and your sobs returned.
Karina observed you. As if to catch your reaction to the show she was performing, made just for you.
Pressing her thumb and forefinger to the blade, she wiped the blood and let it splatter to the floor. She moved forward, her steps just as slow as when she was fighting before bringing a knee down in front of you.
From where you were crouched, it seemed as if she absorbed what little light there was in this bar. She cast a shadow as she clicked her tongue. That caught your attention, you looked up at her only to find her surveilling the room around her.
With a roll of her eyes, she looked back at you.
There was a glint in her eyes, the first real display of emotion from her during this night.
“Now say it,” she said. “Do you still love me?”
any feedback is much appreciated.
a/n: ngl this reads like an old indian movie plot, but who cares. also we deserve some cowardly and pathetic reader representation !! hkjashfka anygays hope you have a good day/night <3

A Little Salaar Rant:
Rewatched Salaar again for the nth time and am just so curious as to how the sequel is going to go.
Like number one, a part of me believes that Aadhya is a misdirect as a love interest because in the nicest way, Deva and Varadha are too into each other to care about anyone else. I really don’t think that anything Aadhya says or does can make Deva prioritize her over Varadha (when it comes to matters of safety- like if someone was holding a gun to both of their heads, he’d be picking Varadha no doubt). Even in their interview where they were describing what they take away from their characters:
• Prithvi talked about how Varadha feels incomplete without Deva.
• Prabhas talked about how Deva’s priority is Varadha first, then his mother, and now Aadhya.
• Shruthi talked about how Aadhya doesn’t even belong here and how she just accidentally wandered in and how her character is important in driving the plot forward.
I feel like in the end, they’re just gonna make her a love interest because that’s usually how these films go. But that feels so weird in the context of this movie because it wouldn’t really fit into the character dynamics that have been established. A part of me hopes that she can just be a friend at the end of it all, especially since her and Deva will probably have a side quest as they deal with the asthikalu. But anything more than that wouldn’t really feel just to the story at hand. In my opinion anyway.
And number two, the plot of the next movie will concentrate on the war between Deva and Varadha. I’m so interested about how they’re going to play that out because I cannot picture either of these two wanting to actually hurt each other. It even feels like in Prithvi’s entry scene, Varadha doesn’t look excited by the fact they’ve found Deva. Instead, he kind of just looks tired/done/like there’s a burden on his shoulders. Most probably because he doesn’t want to actually kill or hurt Deva. I feel like he’d rather just turn a blind eye to his location than actually hurt him.
In terms of how the movie ends too, I know Prashant talked about how the last scene of the movie will be the same as the first scene in the movie. Which makes me think that it might end with Deva dying, because what happens in the first scene is Deva doing what he has to in order to protect Varadha. Like maybe the movie will end with the current pole! But that would be so sad… like I need both of them to survive and live out their lives together. Or, if one goes, the other goes with because with how intertwined their souls are, I don’t think either can really survive with the other being completely gone.
I think a big part of me is just hoping that they’ll end up together at the end of it all because their actions showcase nothing but love and regard for the other. It’s something that goes beyond friendship (every interaction that happened between them has literally happened before in other movies with straight couples). I don’t think I have enough faith in Indian cinema at this point in this to truly believe they’ll let Varadha and Deva become a couple.
But I really wish they would because it’s about time. Also, you can’t have a story this big and dramatic, rooted in the story of these two characters who would literally do anything for each other in a setting as bloodthirsty as Khansar, and think that it isn’t a story about love. Ya know?
Also random, but a part of was also thinking about the conflict that happened in Khansar that led to Deva and his mom having to leave a second time. Like post that is when Amma probably really got scared of the power of her son and truly realized what he was capable of in the hands of Varadha. Especially because from my perspective, whatever blood bath occurred that led to Deva feeling guilty (cuz blood on his hands) has to have occurred because he needed to protect Varadha. So even though what happened probably wasn’t directly Varadha’s fault, I kinda of want to see Varadha and Amma being able to meet each other in 2017 and there be a tension in their relationship too. Where Amma probably is wary of Varadha since she knows the power he has over her son and where Varadha probably just feels this sense of unease because how do you confront someone who was like a mother to you?
In general, this is just a rant as I watch and rewatch and try to process my own thoughts. I feel like I know mostly how the plot is going to go and what to expect out of the second film. But there’s also the bigger part of me that hopes that instead of taking the generic way out (the way most series and movies seem to be doing now) the creators will take the time to do justice to the film and to the characters by allowing it to be what it is, rather than fitting into some mold of their own expectations.

I need to vent and on here is the only place I safely can just scream into the void.
I’m a tribal member of a Federally recognized tribe in America. That means someone looked at my blood quantum, decided it was “Indian enough” (or too Indian depending on who you ask 😡) and I literally have documents saying who I am and my blood degree.
I shared a meme today about how natives in America are the only minority subjected to this and I’ve had white friends coming for me, saying things like
“It’s the tribe that does that. You’re doing it to yourselves” and “it’s to keep everyone away. It’s racist of yall”
EXCUSE ME??!!
No. It is NOT our tribe, it’s the government. It was called the Indian Reorganization Act of 1934 and it determines FEDERAL recognition.
People wanna open their mouths from places of ignorance with their “full blooded Cherokee great grandma” as the source they site- but my actual living grandma who nearly died escaping the rez when it was its worst and survived Indian child education means nothing, my dad being a retired tribal officer who dedicated his life to and worked to pass laws about our tribal laws means nothing, being raised there with my culture means nothing… obviously.
Stop speaking for minorities. We’re tired. We know our story. We know our peoples. Don’t tell us we don’t.
Happy Native American History Month I guess.

to anyone even thinking of considering the idea that indigenous peoples, given they're ability to survive genocide long enough, somehow benefit from being colonized: I am a modern american indian. I live every day aware that I am the product or nearly-successful and fully successful genocide as someone with blood from nations that no longer exist. Cultures I can never return to. Languages I can never hear or speak anywhere but in my heart. I live every day knowing I am the descendant of rape, of kidnapping and forced adoption. Specifcally, factually in my own family. I live every day in the post-apocolypse of my ancestors and then have to see such insults as this, have to see people turn away from it being done to others like the brave people of palestine again and again and again. I don't know how to end my point but I needed to try and say it. Please stay strong everyone and you med specifically
that's really kind of you to say and im sorry you have to live through this.
i think there's a difference between saying "usamerican politics determine world politics and that's really not great/prevalence of usamerican politics in our media platforms" and then saying "actually indigenous people benefit from imperialism regardless of the fact that their genocide is actively and passively being facilitated by the imperial core." It surprised me when I saw that people did think the latter recently....
i'm sorry you had to see all that. thank you for reaching out, and i hope that one day we both can experience justice for our peoples.

The Black Family: Indian?
Inspired by this meta by @narcissa-black-supermacy
.
Dani made some really good points about how the Black family could be MENA, and while reading it I couldn't help but notice the similarities between the culture there and the culture in India, specifically Maharashtra.
So many of the points Dani made are so reminiscent of the casteism in India that i absolutely had to make a separate meta instead of rambling in the tags over there.
A few of the points that i want to gloss over are taken directly from Dani's meta so. Let's get to it!
.
The first point I want to tackle is how large the Black family is, compared to other Pureblood families.
Yes I know what you're going to say; "but Amrut the Weasley family is also really big". I'm quite aware. The books state quite a lot that the Weasleys are weird for having such a large family. Well, the Blacks have a lot of people in their House, too (before the first world war, that is).
Walburga had 3 siblings, and so did Orion. Orion's father Arcturus had two siblings, and Walburga's father was the eldest out of four. Druella and Cygnus Black had three daughters. Arcturus' father was also one of four.
Indian familes are notorious for being large and complicated. I myself am the eldest of seven siblings, my father has four siblings of his own and my mother is one of three. My mother's father is the youngest of five, my father's father was the middle child of three.
The second thing that struck me was the similarities between the Black Family's brand of blood purism and the inherent casteism that prevails in the Kshatriya Maratha families of my Maharashtrian town.
Listen, listen. I don't give a fuck about the bullshit that the government feeds us about casteism being abolished. It might be "abolished" in theory but where I live, Maratha families are notorious for being hard-core when it comes to casteism and classism.
Caste intermarriage is considered "social suicide", especially if you're a person from an upper caste marrying someone from the lower caste. Sound familiar? A Pureblood marrying a Muggleborn sounds the same, doesn't it? The disowning of Andromeda and blasting her off the family tapestry is very similar to what happens here; disinheritance is very common for people who marry a "lower caste" person.
Casteism has been around for centuries, the same way the Blacks were blood purists for centuries. And keep in mind that the Black family were not your regular pureblood supremacists. Their views have been around for generations, passed down from parent to child. Unlike regular Pureblood "I'm-better-than-you" bullshit, the Black Family's brand of blood purism is so similar to casteism in India that I'm embarrassed it took me so long to realise.
The cousin intermarriage! That is such a huge point!
In many parts of India, marriage between cousins is pretty common. Orion and Walburga are second cousins, if I'm not mistaken.
If we look at it genetically, the people of Ancient India knew that chances of deformation and/or mutation of a child born to first cousins was almost the same as that of a child born to non-related people i.e an extremely low chance. Thus, cousins marrying each other wasn't and isn't considered weird or strange.
You may argue that the Gaunts were also inbred. Yes well, the Blacks were intelligent enough to know how far of a relation must be there between two people. And the Gaunts probably married their own siblings for them to be so inbred.
Now, as Dani said, 12GP being at the heart of Muggle London is pretty interesting.
As she mentioned about the Blacks, they're raging bigots, but they still live in a very muggle neighbourhood in a very muggle region of London.
Exactly like it makes sense with sectarianism as Dani explained it, it also makes sense with respect to casteism. Upper caste (Brahmin, Kshatriya) will mingle with intermediate castes and lower castes. They will talk, they will laugh, they will build friendships and make acquaintances. The different castes mingle a lot. But marriage? No. The Black family is essentially the same.
Like Dani puts it: we can work with muggleborns and blood-traitors.... They are allowed to exist.... remind them who is the boss, but do not engage. We will not marry them, we will not let them into our house.
This is literally what caste discrimination looks like. It's not based on fear or hatred like western bigotry. (I will not elaborate more on this bc the politics are wayy too complicated.)
The fifth point is niche, but it's there: Bellatrix wanting to kill Andromeda, Ted and Nymphadora Tonks because Andromeda "sullied her pure blood by associating with mudbloods"
Let me say this once and for all: honour killings are extremely common in India.
Families hire other people, or they themselves go out to perform honour killings. Many of the honour killing cases that I've heard/read about have been about the daughter/son marrying a person from a lower caste and running away, but being tracked down and murdered by their own family for "dirtying their blood" and "sullying the family name" (yes those are the actual words).
Andromeda's disinheritance was not surprising to me; i have seen people thrown into jail for marrying lower/higher. Obviously, the reason cited in court is not the marriage, no— the person is framed for crimes they did not commit.
Bellatrix wanting to murder her own sister— and actually murdering Dora— sounds so identical to the news I've heard over the years.
The Black Family could be Maharashtrian, is all I'm saying. Just because their slogan is French doesn't mean they're from France. India has several regions where France is spoken just as much as the local language. Like Dani said, kill the idea that French is spoken only in France.
This is all for now. I might come back later with more observations if I feel like it, but yeah. Feel free to flood my ask box with whatever questions you want.

the angel of indian lake, pt. 2.
dialogue prompts from the angel of indian lake by stephen graham jones.
i feel there may be unresolved tensions between us.
what do the boy scouts say? 'leave it better than you found it'?
i should probably be vegetarian. maybe next week.
ghosts: nature's air conditioner.
don't look behind. only look ahead.
this isn't exactly the outfit i would have picked.
from the bottom of my chainsaw heart, thanks.
thank you for listening to me all the time.
your past doesn't foretell your future.
you've never tried to survive something like this.
you can't control who you're related to.
you can't be jonesing right now if you want to keep living.
that's not the kind of luck i have.
stay where the people are.
you know who doesn't get beheaded? the one who doesn't put their neck under the machete.
what kills people who are already dead?
we must be reading the signs wrong.
sometimes lies are the only thing that can keep you moving forward.
from what i understand about relationships, they're all about cold shoulders.
if i can be in the past, then i don't have to be here.
you're a survivor, through and through.
killing rages don't always distinguish between 'friend' and 'foe'.
'when'. not 'if'.
i'd rather die from the front than the back.
it's not a good day to die.
is the world going mad, or is it just me?
this really is starting again, isn't it?
the only things worth knowing are the things you're not supposed to know.
not all crying involves tears.
make this make sense.
the new me just wants to live.
what i want is for this to be a nightmare i'm in control of.
horror can save your life, if you let it.
i don't want to hear one single thing you say. ever.
i deserve a good ending, i think.
'the hits just keep on coming'. tagline on the movie poster of my life, right there.
i'm not leaving until you make me. maybe not even then.
if you're not a born final girl, i don't even know what one is.
i need my blood on the inside.
you've done this before, haven't you?
i feel like i'm missing something obvious.
there aren't any good fixes. there's just trying to make it through one moment, then the next.
it's not something you can get used to, but it can lose its surprise.
justice is just another stupid dream. all there is is luck.
all stories end where they begin. at least the good ones do.
i shouldn't have left you. i had a choice.
i'll be holding your hand. i'll keep you here.
i would have made it hurt more, if i'd known.
i get wanting to rip enough holes in the world so that it falls down.
know who you look like?
the land doesn't want you here.
i'm not coming to hang out if there's no nicotine. be serious.
once the limelight's done with you, you're relegated to the shadows to try to deal with it however you can. alone.
i still can't even cuss right.
it's you. it's always been you.
heaven doesn't want me and hell's afraid i'll take over.
you want to fight again, don't you?
you're off your meds, aren't you?
isn't this a dream i had once? a long way back?
there's no time to hide in the past. there never is, around here.
being sorry doesn't mean you can hide from it.
so much of my life is screaming.
giving second chances is inviting your abuser in for coffee so you can talk things through.
you didn't have to believe in me. you shouldn't have.
it doesn't matter. it was a long time ago.
no amount of damage done to someone erases what they've done to you.
you hold onto what you can, and you hold tight.
action. not words.
better to let the past stay back where it is.
dad and daughter stories can be good, too. some of them have to be.
i trained you too well. you're using my logic against me.
you're so beautiful.
you can't get rid of me this easy.
can't i just hate you and let that be that?
it's not about the numbers, it's about the names. the people.
blackmail doesn't work on me.
scars prove you lived.
i remember everything, even the stuff i don't want to.
i've seen all the movies. i know all the rules.
