Alright y'all I have been tagged by @radioactivecatboy to talk about music. Five songs, ten mutuals. So it's his fault that you're about to hear about a bunch of weird music and you can blame them and not my strange tastes.

1. Watermelon by Dan Paladin - The disadvantage of sharing this particular song is that I don't have that much to say about its lyrics. The lyrics are literally just "watermelon watermelon". It's a bright little chiptune song that absolutely destroyed my Spotify played songs in I think 2019. My brother tells me it's a song in battleblock theatre. I infected my dad with this song and now sometimes he just randomly says "watermelon watermelon". It's great!

2. This is Love by Air Traffic Controller - hey have you ever been in love but like, evil about it? This is the song for you! I pulled it off of a Hannibal kinnie playlist and it's such a perfect fit I sometimes wonder if it was written about Hannibal. The opener is "You're no good, you're no good / You could kill me and you should" and it makes me want to eat drywall. Violence!!!!!!

3. Have A Seat, Misery by Shafer James - a short little two-verse ditty about perpetual suffering. I've got an imaginary animatic in my head about a couple of my blorbos that just makes my heart crumple in the most delicious kind of way. I use this as an intro to one of my character playlists and it's such a good way to start it off. Big time "doomed by the narrative" energy which I enjoy greatly. "So have a seat, misery / And don't ever mistake me / Of all of my friends you know you are the one I like best."

4. Ultraviolet by big dog little dog - Rejoice, obscure Canadian artists be upon ye! I heard this song on CBC Radio's new classical music hour. It's a cello duo that does some really good kinda abstract stuff. This song has a kind of wavelike pattern to it, it's low and unsettling. I used this on a playlist for when my pirate party entered a mirror dream dimension where their captain (who they are currently trying to save) doesn't exist. I also genuinely love the song, I love its cadence. It feels sad and lonely and wanting and just a little bit creepy.

5. Promised Land by Semler - look, every queer exvangelical has heard of Semler at this point. While I did enjoy their album (Preacher's Kid) overall, it didn't catch me like it caught a lot of us. But this one did. There's something in this little outro that carries the grit and the anger and the defiance and the iron spirit of self-determination that you need if you're gonna survive as a queer person in hostile territory. And it's a rejection of the evangelical idea of what a queer person is. "I don't know who you think I am / but I belong in the promised land." It's a prophecy and a fuck you and a prayer all at once.

Outside doing yard work, all but barking at you to stay your ass inside cause he’s got it.

Perching up behind him on the couch to rub his shoulders, joints aching because military service and age seem to be worse on certain days.

If you still work, John will grumble every few days about how “you don’t need to work love, can take care of ya.” Which you know and assure him of that as you kiss him while getting out of bed. He’ll sit in the bathroom as you get ready, make you your preferred morning drink and maybe even pack your lunch.

“John you don’t need to-“

“Least I can do, not jus’ gonna sit around and let my pretty wife have a million things to do.”

Grumbles about gaining weight every time you make a meal, which is most nights. Seeing John a bit softer around the edges puts your mind at ease. It’s not often he gets strung up on how he’s not as cut as he used to be, but when he does you spend a few hours assuring him with kisses and then some that, “Love the way you look John- part of the whole marriage plan I had actually. Needed a nice body pillow.” Which earns a chuckle, before you’re bouncing in his lap murmuring how much you adore him and like treating him well.

Being the host for the get together dinners John drags the 141 into. An excuse to see his boys again, and an excuse to show off the pretty thing he gets to see everyday.

Non transmitigation au where Shen Yuan auditions for a part in PIDW on a lark when it gets a live action adaptation, not thinking he’ll actually get a part (he just wanted to be able to say he did it okay? He was dated okay??! He was not dared he just thought it’d be neat, but he’ll admit to nothing.) and, much to his horror, ends up cast as Shen Qingqiu.

He somehow accidentally makes Shen Qingqiu so likable that he’s the most popular character. The fandom goes feral over him. He becomes famous. New fans are joining the bandwagon in droves to watch him.

And all the while, Shen Yuan is frantically trying to pretend he isn’t the most notorious anti fan troll to clown on the internet. He has never heard of PIDW before what do you mean Peerless Cucumber whomst?

you know me, i'm incredibly klapollopilled, of course i'm drawing these two suckers for the wedding zine! <3 something about klapollo marriage makes me incredibly emo so i'm very glad for the opportunity to go all out so i can be EXTRA emo about it 😈

if i remember right, i think this idea came to be when i thought about the image of klavier bursting into tears as he lifts up apollo's veil and it all went from there LOL (also so psyched i get to draw him in a barong tagalog <333)

everything got so much more ambitious, though, from that initial idea! i drew like what (i am counting the number of characters in the spread right now as i type) 40-ISH CHARACTERS ALL IN ALL?! (WHAT THE FUCKDFGDHJ) and i even had to cut out some of the characters i originally had in the sketch 😭 (sorry gumshoe, kay, and seb/eustace ....)

i drew this like a year ago and i'm still so proud of this piece! i don't think i can achieve this level of rendering again, it's been so long i forgot how to do it LMAO

(also i can never reopen the file for this thing again bc it makes clip studio want to dieeeee DFSGHDJ so many layers ...)

another thing, i was working on this in tandem with my piece for the mea culpa zine; do you know how funny it is to draw apollo having such a happy moment and then draw him dying 😭 the contrast, the whiplash

that's all i have to ramble about i think, i'm so so so amazed at this zine bc my zinemates truly made some spectacular pieces of art! :"^D if you have the chance, please do check it out! 💗

you can love a character and still admit they’re wrong. i love gale dekarios but can acknowledge his flaws (none) and can hold him accountable for his wrongdoings (he’s never done anything wrong in his life) and call him out for his actions (which are always correct).
