Sappho 147
In Greek, this poem goes, “μνάσεσθαί τινά φαῖμι † καὶ ἕτερον † ἀμμέων.”
In English, you may be more familiar with the translation “Someone will remember us, I say, even in another time.” This translation got quite popular on tumblr, though I can’t figure out where the original post came from. It is likely that the prevalence of this translation came from Anne Carson’s translation of this fragment.  Though it’s an accurate way to translate this fragment, today I’m going to be sharing some other translations that are equally valid translations of Sappho 147. (I would recommend reading Anne Carson’s translations. They’re beautiful.)
1. I think men will remember us even hereafter. (cox)
2. And I say someone will remember us in time to come. (Poetry in translation)
3.  Men I think will remember us even hereafter. (Henry Thornton Warton)

“love. lay me down under grass & sunlight, and touch me [right here] and here and here. where the ache & hurt have gone to nest.
[(now again)] my fingers will find yours, tangle & sweeten the air, and the birds will cry [for] us alone.”
— sappho, fragment 83
