So something I never noticed about this scene.

When Vegas jumps in here, I immediately thought -he's like a little kid, cocky because his dad is there to back him up. And obviously Chan thinks it too, because the subs are wrong...he doesn't say "that's why I was talking" he says "the adults are talking".

It's the next part though...when he says "you'd be advised to go home" he's still speaking only to Vegas -- he says it in English, so it's clearly meant as a response to Vegas speaking English to him and he's looking at Vegas, not Gun when he says it.

He turns back to Gun and goes back to Thai until guns get drawn like cartoons.

The interesting thing is, he's giving Vegas an out here. I can't imagine this was Chan on his own, caring if Vegas was a part of this or not. It had to be Korn who wanted to keep Vegas out of it. Of course, Vegas was never going to take that option -he'd rather die proving his loyalty to his father than wear the crown in his stead. I'm sure that's something that baffles Korn -he would expect his sons to choose to stay alive and put themselves in a position of power if it came to it.

I think Korn's plan was to give the ring to Vegas after he killed Gun, thinking he could control him easily and still use him as a pin to poke Kinn with...even more so since he could play benevolent uncle once Gun was gone. But Vegas completely fell apart after his father's murder, taking that option off the table. (Okay, I'm never gonna find it again rn, but someone did a great post about how the minor family is way too dramatic and emotional for Korn and this is an example of that...compare to Kinn swallowing back all the emotion when he thought Korn was dead so he could take care of business).

Korn shakes his head in mirth. “It’s hard to believe, isn’t it?” he says, eyes straying to the tablet in his hands. “That Kinn would run into my treasured nephew purely by chance, with no effort on my part.”

“It is, sir,” Chan says.

Korn hums. “Almost as if it were fate.”

A different Chan — younger, maybe — might have narrowed his eyes. As it is, Chan’s face remains perfectly still.

“You have nothing to say to that?” Korn murmurs.

“You’re not one to put stock in fate,” Chan says. “Sir.”

Korn laughs. “No. There is no such thing as inevitability. There is only luck — and luck is fickle.” He unpauses the footage on the tablet, mouth curving into a smile that Chan could almost call fond. “Unless you hold all the cards in your hands.”

He watches in silence for a few more moments, then hands the tablet back to Chan. “I am not convinced Kinn will succeed at bringing Porsche in,” he says. “I want you to make it a certainty.”

Chan had expected nothing less. He had seen the gleam in Korn’s eye as he replayed the footage three, four, five times over. This was something Korn wanted far too badly to leave to chance. “Yes, sir.”

The Ones That Got Away - Chapter 2

I finally got the inspiration to (hopefully) finish The Ones That Got Away so we continue where we left the story a year or so ago in this interlude: Porsche and Chay are safe and secure in the village in Nan with their big brother/father figure/mother Chan and get to have real childhoods with friends and found family even though they are technically on the run. The Theerapanyakul children have a completely different experience.

“I told Khun Kinn I would handle the consequences of today,” Chan started, and Big bowed his head concededly. He looked like he had mentally accepted a physical punishment, and his body language told Chan he was bracing himself. Chan crossed the room and rifled through his chest of drawers, finding what he was after quickly enough. He threw them at Big, and Big flinched even as he caught the sweatpants and t-shirt Chan had thrown at him. “Sir…?” Big’s voice trailed off in confusion. “So that’s what I’m doing,” Chan continued, as if Big hadn’t spoken. “You are going to shower and have dinner, and then you’re going to sleep in my room tonight.”

Chan notices something about Big has changed since the warehouse incident with Tawan, and he's prepared to do whatever it takes to get to the bottom of it. Even if Kinn refuses to see it, even if Big insists he's fine.

I woke up this morning with the mental picture of Big staring at Chan in confusion as Chan chucks some pants at his head and uh... here we are, many many words later.

This is only the first chapter, but the second chapter is written, I just need to edit it and possibly redo the ending as it isn't quite vibing with me at the moment.

I hope to meet more Chanbig shippers by sending this out into the Tumblr void because at this point I've read every single fic on AO3 and I need Chanbig to keep me going,,, please
