Could Diane’s Face Have Been Used to Reconstruct Sal’s?

I’ve been trying to figure out why blood was shown on Diane's scalp in the morgue during Sal's nightmare if she died from a bullet to the stomach. Nothing seemed to add up, but then I remembered the original concept of Sally Face—"A boy with a girl's face." Sal chose the pink mask because it was his mom's favorite color, and over time, he grew so attached to it that even when it started to break, he couldn’t bring himself to throw it away. Instead, he glued it to a new mask. In a way, he’s always carrying part of her with him.

That got me wondering: what if parts of Diane’s face were used to help reconstruct half of Sal’s face? The side that was most likely shot (where he lost his eye) and the side the pink mask covers. I know it’s not common for someone to use parts of a deceased person's face, but given the circumstances—Diane’s sacrifice and Sal’s injury—it could have been the easiest option. If they removed parts of her face to do that, it could explain why her scalp is bloody. Maybe Sal just doesn’t remember it happening. It also ties back to the idea of "A boy with a girl's face."

I know this is a bit of a stretch, but I thought it was an interesting theory. I’m just really fascinated by how deep the game’s story is!

Edit: Shit I just realized we're dealing with a deranged cult that clones people. Sal's nightmares are always somewhat foreshadowing something, right? AND in that one of Charley, his face is split down the middle. Hold on...

I just realised Sal definitely has a speech impediment, right? I'm not sure what kind, but if his lips got injured when he was shot in the face as a child, he'd certainly have trouble forming words.

Okay, so, forgive me if this is basic info because im new to the sally face fandom but... you know how larry SWORE that charley killed mrs sanderson? What if the cult sent one of their copies to kill her and then instructed the clone to place the pony in charley's apartment?? So that explains how charley is innocent but larry still thought he did it, and pins the murder on a non-cultist so they can stay underground while still getting rid of mrs sanderson.

Still doesnt explain why charley's mugshot looked different... actually... wait no it does. I think todd said the copies were initially bad but slowly improved to a scarily accurate degree, so it makes sense that the copy would only match charley's body type rather than his facial features. Plus since he would have been disguised during the murder, larry would have thought big guy + ponies = charley.

Hmmm. I'm still not sure though, because then why would the cult realise information that charley was innocent? Maybe they realeased/fabricated some in order to make sal look bad before his murder trial, so the public would think he's just a sick and twisted maniac trying to make people suffer. That could be a good theory tbh.

This is the best thing ever. So, looking for the Sally stuff earlier and came across this, and i think they might have figured it out. I have suggested that there is either a moon side to Sally or a Moon Character to Sally's Sun Character for several reasons (see About Sally post and the Pedrolino posts).

1. Her eyelids/one eye open, one eye closed

2. The door on her house

3. Early versions of her overall buttons

4. The whole gotta stay inside at night thing

5. Eddie's watch being split between day and night

6. Pedrolino's association with the moon

7. History of masks in theatre

I kept the info on there to credit the artist. But i can see that being feasible, with the rows of rays having depth, and the face shape. Also, the purple eyelids make sense here.

I wanted to show y'all simply because I just wanted to say... Yes. Yes, I did have an accent. But I lost it after moving to Nockfell because I wanted to fit in *plus it was very mild to begin with* but it comes out VERY strongly when I'm mad or confused, and Ash liked to try to tease it out because she told me she liked how it sounded, while Larry did the same thing just to see if he could actually get my accent to come out, because he found it funny that I only sounded like I was a "New Jersean" when I got pissed off at something/someone or when I was put in a situation that makes me question what's going on. Either way, yeah, I did. I was a slightly accented New Jersean. Take that as you will.

YOU REMEMBER, Sal had no choice to kill everyone in the building, MAYBE Charlie was close to the same thing but, instead of just mass murdering everyone at once, he stopped for awhile and he was close to doing the same thing as Sal?? Frank, Eddie, and the Tell-Tale Heart

So, I know the main focus of this update was Poppy, which I was happy to see (though I'm not happy to see what happened to her).  I do have a theory cooking about her, Sally, and the Commedia Dell'arte, but Frank n' Eddie are my favorite pair, and I've been stewing over this particular theory since the July '23 update.  This tiny line from the Looky-Loo storybook is what cinched it for me.

This line isn't read out loud, but we can see it at around the 9 minute in the video, above Eddie, looking so polite.  It reads,

"Villains!" I shrieked, "I can deny it no longer! I admit the deed!—tear up my flower bed!—here, here!—it is the ticking of my beloved alarm clock!"

This isn't the actual line from The Tell-Tale Heart.  The original line reads "Villains!" I shrieked, "dissemble no more! I admit the deed!—tear up the planks!—here, here!—it is the beating of his hideous heart!"

The Tell-Tale Heart is about someone murdering their roommate, cutting him into pieces, and hiding the evidence under the floorboards of their house. 

And I think this is what Frank is going to do to Eddie, in an attempt to protect him in a perverse, misguided way.

This rewritten lines seems very specific to Frank and Eddie.  We know Frank loves his garden.  And who's the only character in the Neighborhood who owns a clock?  Eddie.

At the end of the Homewarming video, Frank sees how distressed Eddie is.  As many have theorized, Frank seems to be somewhat aware of what's happening, although we don't know to what extent.  But he sees that Eddie is now in the line of fire of The Powers That Be, and he becomes worried for him.  

I think Frank will dismantle Eddie and hide him in his garden until he deems it 'safe' for Eddie to come back, once the 'eyes' are off him.  (Kind of reminds me of the Eye of Sauron from Lord of the Rings).  An unintentional—or perhaps intentional—side effect of being dismantled and put back together, with new parts, is that Eddie doesn't remember things well. 

Including, possibly, his and Frank's relationship.

This goes along with the theme we've seen several times in WH now, including this new Halloween update.  The puppets unintentionally—yet seriously—harm their loved ones in order to protect them from something they deem far worse—whatever that may be.

As these posts by kykudos, oniongrass, and nikkiiiscute discuss, there is an image from one of the hidden bug clips of Frank's garden with 9 clothespins—one buried in the dirt.

And there's the references to burial in Bug-a-Bye and Goodnight, too.  This post by the-nosy-neighbor goes quite a lot into this song very well, especially how it might indicate Frank could put Eddie into a suspended state!

Now I have been thinking about this dismantling/reassembling thing for a long time, especially since the last Halloween update.  Eddie is one of the puppets with a new costume, and he is Frank(enstein)'s monster.  And he has a big yellow band-aid on the back—Frank's color.  If Eddie is taken apart, Frank will patch him up again.

(Also, I'm curious about the blue hand and face in Eddie's costume design. That's Barnaby's color. Does Frank use Barnaby's spare parts to put Eddie back together?! 😳 Especially since I feel like Barnaby's time on Mister Bone's Wild Ride is fast approaching—but that's yet another post 😅)

But based on the Tell-Tale Heart line, Frank may have been the one to do the dismantling in the first place, which is quite dark.  Based on the below picture from the former staff member page—clearer image here from Clown's Tumblr—Frank may be aware they're puppets and made up of various parts.

There is also an intense piece on Clown's Ko-Fi here (please support Clown if you can!) that shows butterflies doing SOMETHING to Eddie. Are they putting him together? Or taking him apart to join them in their hibernation? 🤔

Frank also likes gelatin. As he tells Poppy in their hidden audio, 'it holds perfectly sliced fruit beautifully'.  Perfectly sliced, cut up fruit, eh?  Gelatin is a preservative that we also see in the cookbook recipe, and we all know Eddie has an unholy encounter with his single pea.  So yet another symbol of suspended animation that is related to Frank and Eddie.

So it seems like Frank has some experience in preservation, hibernation, etc. and knows how to use it, if it comes to it.

The next big update will likely be spring-themed.  A long time ago, Clown posted that Frank has a holiday in spring. Of course this isn't canon until it's on the website, but either way, I think Frank will have an important role in the spring update, which I believe will also focus on Julie.  We may see him wake up Julie from hibernation...and Eddie from his dirt nap.

(I've been so curious about that shadow behind the flower.  At first I thought 'OMG, it's Eddie's hand!', but I don't think so. 😅 I dunno what it is, but it doesn't quite seem flower like to me...🤔)

This Ko-Fi post (again, please support Clown if you have the means!) was posted around Easter this year and had a bunny/Easter theme.  Clown says "What is there to say though... Well! We know what the next holiday is in our Home Sweet Home, I'd say."  A huge theme of Easter/Spring are Rebirth and Resurrection.

As this post by serene-hatterene so beautifully details, Frank may feel pressured to kiss Julie to wake her up to prove his heteronormativity.  Maybe to further protect Eddie, too, to prove they aren't a thing.  Seems like Julie's family may show up this update, too, and we know family can cause a lot of pressure for couples during holidays. 😬

My last item isn't that strong, but I have been thinking of since the July '23 update.  In Eddie's Big Lift, Frank says the following line:

The tense of "You always did work too hard" always bothered me.  Why doesn't Frank just say, "You always work too hard!"  And Eddie doesn't seem to know what he's talking about. Frank sounds almost wistful here.  It's like he's talking about his ex—a former version of Eddie, pre-dismantling, perhaps?

(Also, 'Enjoy the ground, Mr. Dear'? Dude, if this theory is right, that line is even more screwed up than it already was. 😳)

Here is my order of how I feel these events actually happened:

Secret Bug Audios (Eddie and Frank flirting) -> 1st Halloween Audio (Eddie still seems like his chipper, knowledgeable self) -> Homewarming -> Springtime (and Eddie's Resurrection)? -> Eddie's Big Lift

Not quite sure where this last Halloween update lands, but I feel like it's later.  Eddie seems ignorant of the potential adverse effects The Brickening (TM) could have on Poppy.  I feel like he's been more sensitive to Poppy and others in the past (but maybe I'm wrong, I'm biased towards him, heh).  Perhaps after his Reconstruction, his memory has now been reset, and he has "fallen into line" with the other Neighbors and their weird, pile-onto-one-person ways.

Anyway, what do you all think? 😬😬 I do hope I'm wrong, since Frank is my favorite, and this would make me feel very differently about him. 😬😬😬 Please tell me your own WH theories, too! I find them so interesting!

Do you have any predictions for season 3?

I do! A lot! I've been letting this ask sit in my inbox for a few days so I could properly put them into words, and in doing so ended up making a prediction bingo:

Some of these need a bit more explanation, so allow me to elaborate:

-> I think M&M will ultimately keep the baby, but it'll have a big impact on the dynamics of I.M.P. It'll mean Loona will have to go on more missions (while Stolas stays as secretary). It'll mean Sallie May will be a lot more present, and might even join I.M.P. herself. It's already been established she's a skilled assassin. (I also think Millie will be scared to tell Blitz at first, fearing the strain she knows this will put on the business, but he'll immediately give her absolutely every financial and emotional accommodation she needs, even if it means overworking himself).

-> I think Vassago isn't gonna let go of the trial, and will chase after Andrealphus to get some answers, then eventually seek out Stolas. I think when he finds out that Stolas was just saving Blitz's life because they're in love, he'll ship the two of them very hard.

-> I think Cash will try to get back into Blitz's life for his own personal gain now that Blitz's business is going well and he's well known. This might lead to more childhood flashbacks, to Stolas finding out about the fire, and to Blitz's bond with everyone else growing. I think this might also be how Stolas finds out what really happened on the day they met as kids (Cash selling him to Paimon and forcing him to steal).

-> I think Octavia will forgive Blitz before she forgives Stolas. There are theories out there about Via being in danger and Blitz going through great lengths to save her; I could definitely see that happening. I also theorise Blitz will adopt her before she's of age, the same way he did with Loona.

-> I think we're going to see more of Andrealphus, and I personally agree with the theories that he secretly desires something like what Stolitz have, or maybe had a crush on Stolas growing up and/or has an imp fetish. Either way, I think the reason he doesn't want Stolas and Blitz to be happy will be a lot more personal than he's been leading everyone to believe.

-> I also think Ozzie and Fizz's relationship will continue to develop and grow as they face new challenges and sources of conflict, both within their relationship (eg. the tension from what happened at the trial) and from external sources (eg. Mammon).

-> Lastly, I think Asmodean Crystals are what give imps the ability to conjure a human disguise (see: Barbie in Unhappy Campers), and I think Stolas will help Blitz and M&M learn how to conjure theirs as soon as he finds out they don't know how. Or maybe Barbie herself will teach them? Who knows!
