Hey everyone: meet Imoria - I & @king-guerreira 's K'Vathgba fankid! She got a proper redesign after all these years! Obviously, a few things need to be ironed out with her story (since she's as bare bones in character as her mother/jk) but decided to tweak a few things in regard to her design.

Make her skin a darker, washed out blue instead of a dark grey. Her armor looks more like her mother's a bit more than what it looked like back in 2016 (beware - cringe art and cringe ass character describing).

Somehow I managed to genuinely speedrun this. Anyway- This is an art challenge by @fabuloustrash05 because her fanfic Courting A Salamandrian will hit it's 4th anniversary somewhere around July. So here is Scarlet attending Raph and Mona's wedding.

Bonus cause I thought this was funny:

The only reason Scarlet dressed the way she did was because she saw how Leo dressed so she wanted to join him with what he wore to the wedding. (Also japanese clothing is stunning and gorgeous and I love it. And it somehow became my favorite thing to draw (plus chinese clothing as well lol))

Kid Chompy and an OC Raphmona child (named Yoyo) because I am cringe and they are cute.

Ramblings about cryptozoology/biology/explaining myself if you keep reading.

I've got this headcanon that Chompy's basically Raph's kid, and I can't hold myself back from making fan children for ships.

Or hybrid species..

Or fan children who are hybrid species...

First, I wanna talk about Chompy.

Tokka and Chompy frankly look nothing alike, which makes me think that Compy isn't entirely a Volcanthian fire turtle. Their differences are obvious, but I don't think that they can be summed up as just him being a juvenile while Tokka is an adult. Since a lot of the differences have to do with body plan, such as:

Different numbers of fingers and toes. Chompy has 3, Tokka has 4

Tokka's eyes glow, Chompy's don't

Their is no difference between the coloration of Tokka's shell and body, while there is for Chompy

Tokka seems to be mostly comprised of a rock like substance, while Chompy seems to only have rock like spikes

Chompy has a tail, Tokka does not

Tokka has exposed magma all over her body, Chompy doesn't

In addition to this, Tokka's intelligent enough to deem Raph a good guardian for Chompy, and for some reason there is no pressure to take him back. If Chompy was going to turn into a massive plasma breathing kaiju like his mama, being on Earth would be more detrimental to his health/development than taking him with her. So there must have been a reason Raph was allowed to keep him. Which makes me think that it would be more dangerous for Chompy to have stayed with Tokka, despite the dangers faced by the turtles.

For these reasons, I don't think that Chompy is a Volcanthian fire turtle, not fully. I think it's likely that he's some kind of hybrid creature, not a Volcanthian fire turtle at all and just another thing entrusted to Tokka's care, or Volcanthian fire turtles have a crazy amount of variability and he's just entirely different for no reason.

Though I personally like the first option best.

I know i'm not the only one to come to this conclusion, but I haven't seen anyone else talk about these points

and i also really like thinking about alien biology

So onto the OC kid.

Since Salamandrians are amphibians, they should have a multi stage life cycle where they start as fish-like larvae and then undergo metamorphosis to become their adult forms. Going off of this idea, I gave the kid external gills and fins, as well as a juvenile pattern that he'll grow out of.

This also plays into how I imagine Salamanria's ecosystem to look like to create massive bipedal amphibians. I headcanon that it's swamp-like, with shallow water covering most of the planet, which makes it imperative that baby Salamandrians are able to breath even when submerged in water. I've seen some people also headcanon that the foliage there is blue, and I like that idea since it justifies how many Salamandrians are seen with blue patterning/coloration. Most Salamandrian children would be blueish in color for this reason, even if they eventually grow out of that color. The stripes are also for camouflage, since most swamps have grasses/reeds, this would make it more difficult for babies to be spotted which is a concern since creatures like amphibians have offspring that are more individually capable than human babies.

Human babies are generally rather underdeveloped when compared to other animal infants. This is a whole other thing I could get into but I'll spare you lol. Most other babies are more like toddlers than infants, even as newborns. I applied this logic to Salamandrian babies as well. Since they act more like toddlers they are more likely to wonder off, and end up is the sights of a predator, or a rival group of Salamandrians. Hence the need for camouflage.

Specifically for this fan kid, there are many ways that I could combine Salamandrian and mutant turtle traits, and I've seen a lot in other fan kids. I wanted to reference both of their designs, and other versions of TMNT.

I gave him both a full carapace and plastron, but didn't attach them, which makes him look in line with the 03 turtles. He's got 3 fingers but 4 toes, since Salamandrians have one more toe than finger for some odd reason. He's also got webbing between his two fingers.

Finally here's his name: Yoshi Web Hamato. He also goes by Webber or Yoyo. I've got three reasons for picking this name.

First I saw someone mention once that all the turtles have given a Salamandrian a name except for Leo. So I thought he should contribute to the name, in a meta sense. I don't think he'd like take over naming his brother's kid, but I imagine that he suggested the name "Yoshi" after their father and they went with it.

Second I made a naming scheme for Salamandrians. We never see any related Salamandrians, and only have 4 Salamandrian names to work with but I don't care. I basically headcanon that the first sound of their name which is differentiated by the apostrophe is inherited from one of the parents. So in this case, Web's Salamandrian name is Y'Oshi, getting the "Y" from his mother. Which is why Mona Lisa liked the name Yoshi.

Third the artist naming scheme is very important and I didn't wanna abandon it when naming my fan kid. Though the question of which artist plagued me for a bit. Then my sister suggested I name him after someone from the Harlem Renaissance, which combines NYC and the renaissance, so I named him after W.E.B Du Bois. While Du Bois wasn't a visual artist, he was a writer and scholar, so I thought it fit. I also have a personality for him already lined up, and being named after a scholar fits.

This is all related to a TMNT 12 future AU I have as well.

back at it again with another one that could be either really difficult or really easy!

what does your oc's personal space look like? this could be their bedroom (or favorite room) in a home, could be the tool shed outside they've refurbished into an art studio, their section of a community greenhouse, the upper level of a barn they've turned into a hideaway, a treehouse, etc. a space they've deemed "safe"; somewhere they might go to recharge, relax or find some peace.

does it tend to be clean, a mess, or a bit of organized chaos (looks like a mess, but they know where everything is)? if someone comes in without their knowledge, how likely are they to notice items may have been moved?

does their space have an 'aesthetic' to it, or is it more function over appearances?

how willing are they to share that space with others? are 'guests' welcome to make themselves at home, or is the space more 'look, don't touch'?

and lastly, what are three items or objects that will absolutely be in this space? (i.e. books, action figures, spell jars, art prints, a headphone set, stuffed animals, etc)

has a few due to moving back and forth a lot!

FL - her bedroom at her grandparents is in the loft of their house so it’s got a slanted ceiling and a cozy vibe to it. there’s a windowsill to sit on that overlooks the surrounding marshlands. there’s also an old cabinet where tommy’s tank used to sit but surprise! it’s not needed anymore. she stores snacks in it now (mostly for guests).

NY - back at her mom’s apartment, she’s got a bunk bed with a desk as the lower bunk, and a tiny walk in closet (curtain instead of a door). her walls are also covered in art from mikey (she writes and he draws, so sometimes they inspire each other and she puts it all up - its mostly superheroes but sometimes it’s random doodles he does (and he’s gotten a few notebooks filled with some first drafts from her)).

both her spaces are very organized with lots of books and bookshelves - most of the books are related to biology or chemistry, but she’s got a few classics like Frankenstein, Jekyll & Hyde, The Martian (mostly science fiction). notebooks for things she’s studying or writing ideas she has. also, tons of bags. a bag for every occasion.

i’d classify her as “organized, but a little haphazardly,” and she might not notice immediately if someone had been through her stuff. she wouldn’t necessarily invite people in unless she’s really close to them (but if they waltz in, she’s just gonna grit her teeth and find an excuse to get them to go somewhere else).

like… an “academia” aesthetic, but very loosely organized, and most of the stuff is themed after biology. especially turtles (she just leaned into it).

after getting mutated, his spot was deemed brooke’s closet and she got rid of a bunch of stuff so he could have space in there. his stuff is mostly puzzles and puzzle books, and shoes (do you know what could be on the sidewalk??) along with all his archery gear, except for his target. that goes in a nearby tunnel close to the turtles’ lair for practice. he’s also got his own music player and headphones (the model varies based on which iteration) and enjoys dancing while brooke’s at school.

he is definitely a “don’t even think about coming into my space” (except brooke, obviously) and would know immediately if someone had messed with his carefully set up system. things have a place and should stay in their place, dammit!

no aesthetics here, what’s the point if it’s not functional?

salamandrians tend to live in hollowed out logs or dirt mounds and think of possessions very lightly. your weapon breaks, get a new one. he does like to mould clay and carve wood when he has time, so he has a bunch of little statues/trinkets. without much stuff to have, it never gets cluttered.

until he gets to earth.

t’ytian joins the mutanimals after a few adventures, and i have a headcanon they have their own abandoned warehouse as a sort of home base. most of them don’t live there, they just stop in to get food, or rest, or check to see if anyone can help with this mission, etc.

t’ytian sorta claims a corner on the upper level and has all his fascinating earth things, like, scattered around the area - did you know the earthlings have a thing called a paper clip to help them keep their papers organized?? how quaint! they also seem to decorate their city with things like traffic cones, so to make his space more earth-like, he found one. they also seem make stuffed caricatures of the various beasts on their planet, perhaps as a way of proving their superiority? he has several of these plushies of his favorite earth creatures. he’s learning about earthling culture!

he doesn’t know how to organize because back home, he didn’t have to. but everyone is welcome in his space and free to make themselves feel at home - hell, if they wanna borrow or even take something, he doesn’t mind (except for the stuff he brought from home, then he minds. you’ll have to duel him for it).

no aesthetics, just a lot of chaos. he wouldn’t even notice if someone went through or took something.

new oc meet vesper the salamandrian i hope i spelt that right!! anyway heres a bit about her age 21 female skillfully trained in combat by akina close friends with raph but they also compete with one another.......too much way to much everything is a competition with them and to top it off she also has rage issues! has big fat fatty crush on leatherhead! and is not afraid to kill someone. and if she does kill someone....she will get away with it- she kind and caring once you really get to know her....and if she actually likes you- and if she does like you, you may see her sensitive soft side she is a lot like mona lisa! (they are actually sisters!) she has killed people....lots of people- loves to dress cute and sometimes girly! she is in the tmnt 2012 au not tmnt rise au- i have a tmnt oc for every version of tmnt some i just havent shown yet (i think almost every version of tmnt not sure actually-)

Courting a Salamandrian FAQ

Just some common questions I’ve received regarding my RaMona fanfic that I decided to answer all in a singular post.

“What inspired you to write this story?”

I’ve always loved Raph x Mona, since we were first introduced to this ship back in 2015. Around that time I was in high school and one night I had a dream about Raph and Mona getting married. The dream was so vivid and had so many details down to the guests who attended, the wedding decorations, to what the couple was wearing. I was so amazed by that dream, I just had to write it. I originally planned to only write the wedding, which I thought was only going to be around 5 chapters, but as I kept working on the first draft, I realized I wanted to also add a proposal scene. Then when I started working on that, I decided I wanted to add more to the proposal, like when he realized he wanted to marry her etc, asking Sal for his blessing, etc. but as I kept going my brain suddenly went “Wait… let’s add drama!” And the rest was history.

"When does the story take place?"

About 4 years after the S5 episode When Worlds Collide. Raph and Mona have been together for 5 years by the start of the fanfic.

"How old are Raph and Mona Lisa?"

In the beginning of the story Raph is 23 and Mona is 24. By chapter 19, they are 24 and 25. By the epilogue they are 38 and 39.

“What made you decide to make Bishop the villain in this story?”

Bishop was already a canon hater of RaMona, as we saw in When Worlds Collide he was very against the idea of Mona staying on Earth, so I decided to explore that more.

Also 2012 Bishop was my introduction to the overall character. After I learned that he is supposed to be a villain in other iterations like the 2003 series, it just supported my concept even more! I wanted to explore Bishop becoming the villain he was known to be in other versions.

"What is the relationship status of the other couples that appear in C.A.S. (ex: apritello, renetangelo, etc.)?"

Donnie and April are dating, they've been together for 4 years.

Mikey and Renet are together but they are not expecting a full commitment from one another. Basically friends with benefits.

Karai and Shinigami are dating (have been for a little over 4 years) and are living together back in Japan.

Slash and Alopex are crushing on one another, but are both in denial about their feelings.

Casey has a girlfriend that he just started dating by the time of chapter 19, her name is Gabrielle. If you are familiar with the mirage comics then you'll get this reference.

Leo is single and NOT ready to mingle.

"Why does Alopex have a kid in chapter 28?"

That was a reference to my TMNT 2012 OC, Sasuke! It was also a fun way to, I guess you could say, plant the seeds for future events with my TMNT 2012 future headcanon. Getting started on the next gen of TMNT lol

I’ve already written two so far: the two parter Family Vacation Gone Wrong and Once an Enemy Now a… Friend? (Though that one focuses more on Adult!Raph with one of his kids making a cameo). yeaaaaaah I have a LOT but there’s 4 main ones that I could actually go into detail over (i promise i’ll keep this as brief as possible)

Finn: shark mutant/yōkai/thingy. she’s a therapist and is my insert to geT THOSE DANG TURTLES INTO SOME ACTUAL THERAPY GODDAMMIT. her backstory is that her family is a shark mafia and she didn’t wanna participate in the violence

Tomatillo: my fifth turtle. he’s an archer with anxiety and gets mutated way later so he exhibits a lot more turtle instincts. used to be Brooklyn’s pet that she rescued from a fishing net

Brooklyn: i made her originally cuz i was mad at 2012 for forcing donnie to be the smart one with EVERYTHING. she’s since grown but her main shtick is still biology and being the local nurse for the Turtles

T’Ytian: LIGHT OF MY LIFE WIND OF MY SAILS he is a salamandrian warrior being trained under Y’Gythgba and G’Throkka. he’s my little ray of sunshine and wields a halberd. sorta dense in social affairs. he’s so so excited to prove himself. don’t ask him to spar he’ll just start with no warning

(I know Lotus wasn't in the options, but I couldn't come up with an oc, so I thought why not make a Lotus Blossom version for 2012? And here it is. I love this ship and I hope you enjoy it too.)

Lotus Blossom

From the planet Jullen.

Julleana.

She/Her. (On Earth she would be considered a trans woman but on her planet things don't work that way).

Pansexual.

26 years old (she has been dating Lee since she was 17 and Lee 18).

She measures 1.90 m.

Black and pink scales. Yellow eyes.

Her rarra found Fugitoid's head and they sheltered it in her house. But some looters invaded her planet and they had to flee.

With the help of the Salamandrians they found out that the looters were also planning to loot Earth and other planets, so they went as reinforcements to Earth and she met the turtles.

There Lee began to teach her ninjitsu and they got along very well. She started to like her very easily.

When the raiders were defeated she convinced her rarra to let her stay on Earth until Jullen was rebuilt. In that time she and Lee became girlfriends.

They love so much each other.

That is the condensed version but here is a longer one with more details:

Jullen:

Born on the planet Jullen, the older sister of twins, Coneflower and Sunflower, her name is Lotus Blossom. Her yatta (father) passed away when she was 12 years old and her rarra (dad/mom) has taken care of them alone ever since.

On her planet there are great resources and the people have used them to make great scientific advances, they are the planet with the best medicine of all. Almost everyone who was born on Jullen became great scientists, and she liked that, of course, she liked to know all kinds of things, and she enjoyed learning, but she wanted to learn more than that, she wanted to do something else... Their planet was pacifist, protected by a force field and by the neighboring planets with whom they had signed an alliance, that is why they did not have many weapons and they were not usually taught how to fight, but Lotus was very curious and wanted to learn how to fight.

One day when she was 16 her father brought home Professor Honeycutt's robotic head, they welcomed him into their house and he told them how he ended up here. She found his story fascinating, she was very curious about the warriors who accompanied the professor on his journey, they were surely very good fighters. Her rarra started building a new body for him Professor Honeycutt and they helped him, they also knew a lot about robotics, they learned it at school.

Her little brothers loved playing with Fugitoid, and she loved chatting with him, especially when he told her about his battles and his old companions, that adventure sounded so crazy and incredible, but at the same time sad, the human and turtle friends of Honeycutt didn't know he was still alive.

Unfortunately a few months later their planet was attacked by looters, it seems they were a new group, a large group commanded by someone apparently intelligent, they managed to get past their force field and for some reason the neighboring planets did not defend them, breaking the alliance. But that did not matter anymore, the Julleans had to take their ships and escape, and of course the Lotus' family took Fugitoid with them.

The surviving Julleans decided to separate to notify other planets of what had happened and seek allies to help them recover their planet. In her search her family met the Salamandrians, they asked for their help, and thanks to Honeycutt they accepted.

They captured one of the looters and he confessed that they were starting to attack planets without weapons/with primitive weapons, they had already been 3 and the next on the list was Earth. That alarmed G'Throkka and Fugitoid, the allies they were talking about were on that planet, the commander called Y'Gythgba, a Salamandrian who was on Earth, and warned her of the danger, and that he would send allies.

The commander offered Fugitoid to go to Earth, which he doubted, but after a talk she was able to convince him to go, he needed to face his friends and close cycles with them, that and she really wanted to go with him to know them.

She loved meeting the fighters even under those circumstances, they were so kind, and they were able to talk to Fugitoid and forgive him. You see it? She did no wrong in convincing him to come.

It seems that the blue fighter, Leonardo, had changed her name, she asked to be called Lee, Lotus had no problem.

Lotus asked them to train her so that she could fight together with them, and they agreed, she spent a lot of time with Lee training what they call "the art of ninjitsu" and learning the customs from Earth. At first Lee was very harsh and seemed very tense, but then she relaxed, Lotus thinks it's something her brothers or April told her, whatever, after that their coexistence became more casual, and they got along very well, she was really starting to like being with her.

THEY MANAGED TO DEFEAT THE LOOTERS! It's been a couple of months, but it was finally over, and she should just go away and get away from Lee...

Maybe it was because her rarra saw her so sad, they told her that she could stay on Earth, just until they finished building Jullen and she had to go back to school. She loved that idea, she had to promise to continue studying (her rarra was going to send her lessons every day) and not be separated from the turtles, it wasn't that difficult for her to keep that promise.

And a few weeks later she found the perfect moment to tell Lee that she liked her, and she asked her to be her girlfriend. And guess what? SHE SAID YES!!

She had to return to her planet, but they maintained a long-distance relationship, they decided it would be an open relationship, but to tell the truth, neither of them was looking for someone else, the daily calls and visits on vacation were enough.

Two years later when she got a job as a Martial Arts instructor (yes, her planet started to include fighting teaching after that), she proposed to Lee to live together on her planet, and even work together, she said she had to think about it, but her brothers insisted that she not worry and convinced her to go, and they began to live together. They were to visit Earth every three months.

They were very happy.
