3. i have beef with the way they handle him in many iterations since it feels like they just. underuse him??? like come on. the guy is multifaceted and such an interesting character to toy with. why would they not utilize that??

the biggest one though is 2012. they didn’t handle many characters well but mikey just. is so poorly done. they don’t expand on his expertise with dimension x and most of it is chalked up to be “mikey is random lol xD so he should be good with the Weird dimension.” he’s the one to find the kraang first too. i feel like i need a kraang-powers-mikey fic now.

also everything with renet and shinigami. i would cut the flirting with shinigami and make him and renet besties.

A/N - allow me to shamelessly brag about this one more time, but it was such an honour to meet cameron monaghan and morena baccarin at fanexpo canada back in august - been waiting almost a decade to meet at least one celeb from a tv/movie that i liked, at least a celeb i fawned over in my teen years. i was really active on tumblr writing jerome valeska imagines and a bit of jeremiah ones. this was a bit different than meeting joseph quinn or grace van dien two years ago. i felt quite satisfied.

COMMISSION ME

SENDING A GIFT BASKET to the exact spot where the entire cult nearly destroyed a Wayne Enterprise-owned lab was probably the most laughable, embarrassing gesture you could ever put on. The gift basket was something straight out of Valentine's Day and you filled it with a bundle of joy... and explosives. The note stuffed in the bundle was signed, sealed and tied with red ribbon and written in black ink.

Count me in. - Y/N.

What were you expecting? A gift basket or a thank you letter in return? No. You expected, rather, a visit from the man himself. He's all over the news. Word-of-mouth and desperate demands for any leads to tip off to the GCPD... this man was everywhere, however since this whole week, no one could find him. Your attempts to summon him and speak to you was like summoning a ghost in a Seance.

He was just like his brother, kind of. Both evil. Both brought up to become a terrible threat to the city and yet... you wanted to find him. Or at least, in this case, you wanted him to find you.

This was Jeremiah Valeska, not Jerome. Jerome's dead. You needed to see Jeremiah. You needed to meet him, but you didn't know how. You didn't know where to start. You didn't even know where in the outskirts of Gotham was his underground maze bunker. Jeremiah's much more calculated and terrifying than Jerome, really. Your gestures and summoning needed to appeal and appear grand.

The gift basket was not grand at all. It was stupid and frilly and a waste of money.

You dropped the can of spray paint on the ground, letting it make a clanking sound on the wet pavement. You were done. After a whole package of spray paint, you made your last ditch attempt. Now to play the waiting game.

You stare up at the finished product on the wall. Perhaps it was missing something. Maybe Jeremiah's eyes needed to be a bit more wider. His nose had a bunk. Maybe it lacked his personality, maybe it filled up all the open space and you weren't able to write HA HA HA-

Hours of waiting spent for nothing. You waited all night inside the factory Jeremiah frequents and nothing even came near the wall except for a few giant rats.

A downpour starts and you watched cautiously as the rain failed to wash out the fine art. You sighed in relief and got up to give it a look-see, your hair creating a source of water droplets with your soaked coat and leather pants.

"Is that me?" said a voice so bored yet smooth, dripping with mockery.

You spun.

He was standing there so casually, but his gaze was intense, almost predatory, as if he was waiting for her with a hidden agenda.

The rain soaking her did not dampen her spirit. In a stark contrast, accompanying Jeremiah was a follower shielding him with an umbrella over his head to keep him dry, yet his spirit seemed to have washed away upon seeing the art attack on the wall.

"What in the artistic desperation is this?"

"It's you..." you say in awe and relief.

"Yes, I am me. But is that supposed to be me? What mediocrity. That gift basket was lovely, however," Jeremiah said. "Very lovely. How did you know I loved dark chocolate and dynamite?"

You didn't, actually. It came with the bundle. You fidgeted slightly. "You already knew... of course you knew... you liked the worship so you kept me on my toes and you waited until I went extreme. That's so you."

"Trying to achieve some validation from me with the use of vandalism is so..." Jeremiah trails off, his Reptilian-looking green eyes averting away.

So...?

"Amateur," he finishes, finally looking at you with pity. "You assume I share the same niche as my ridiculous, dead brother?"

"Isn't that what your followers have been doing since the beginning?" You grunted slightly with a crack in your throat, knowing you can't be snappy with Jeremiah Valeska. "I mean, they all dug up your 'ridiculous, dead brother's' grave when you impersonated him and fooled Detective Gordon."

He hums, a low passing sound that likely meant he was enjoying whatever this was. "Fair point, I'll admit. But my point remains. You're so desperate for a reaction from me, you feel the need to express your love through graffiti."

Jeremiah Valeska had a point. The twins had their different approaches to making a grand entrance and making themselves known. Jeremiah simply walks in, coining the impression of a dark, collective individual, while Jerome theatrically thrives in the room as if he was the main act at a rock and roll concert. Putting graffiti fan art on a wall is more likely to resurrect Jerome from the dead instead of impressing his twin.

"I guess you're right..."

Jeremiah Valeska stares.

"I was trying to get your attention," you say, standing up. "My way to grab an audience is through art."

"You sound like my brother. My brother's approach is unhinged and equivalent to a child scribbling on the walls with crayon. But anyway... you certainly have my attention now, sweetness. Did you just wanna show me your new drawing so I can hang it up on my fridge?"

You gulped. Now that he was really here in the flesh, you didn't really have time to think it through. You barely got to fantasize and rehearse your proposal to him.

"Please, slow down, you're speaking too fast," he mocks.

Calculated, collective and condescending.

You finally spoke. "I hope you don't think of this as some kind of trap, 'cause it isn't. I'm not working or helping the GCPD."

"Of course you aren't. With that posture? You appear dreadful."

You straighten your back.

"Tick-tock, darling. What am I here for, then? Are you here to put a bullet in my skull?"

"No-"

"Are you here to 'fix me'?"

"I want to be a part of something," you admit. "I wanna be your shadow. I need a leader. I'll be your follower."

Jeremiah stares... then his bright red lips parted to form a dry chuckle.

"What, job applications are full?" you nervously joke.

"Selective." He coldly eyed you up and down. "Very selective."

You scoff and yank away the rag tucked in your belt. "Don't you want some help? You've covered all of Gotham, but you could use the help. See how you influenced a commoner like me?"

"And what exactly do you have to offer that I don't already possess?" He asked. "Something as simple as… that, for example?" He pointed at the spray-painted wall. "Anyone can grab a bottle of spray paint and produce... that."

"There's not something unique I can offer, I can just obey and follow your orders. I'll be nothing but a robot answering to you. I'll be a great help."

"My cult doesn't 'help'... you make it sound like we run a fancy bistro. I'm reaching my wasteful brother's goals in a sane manner. My ways offer a much greater chance of reforming Gotham."

"And it's working so far," you nod. "It's done more than Jerome's-"

"What, have you made my brother a silly little drawing before I became the Successor... and failed?"

"I'm not sure why you cruelly criticize my graffiti portrait of you, Mr. Valeska. Your brother was an artist, and you are a creator, too."

"My question is left unanswered," he sighs.

"I have not."

Another dry chuckle. "So, he wasn't impressed, either."

"No, I meant I tried to meet him personally and I have. He just wasn't interested. The least he could have done was use me the way Theo Galavan used the Arkham patients or kill me out of annoyance."

Jeremiah Valeska grins. Your blood ran cold. "So now you are redirected to another agency, hoping they won't shut the door on you."

It didn't matter so much, wasting away to deform your purpose. Instead of boosting the GCPD's efforts, you sealed your fate with Jeremiah's hubris. You are willing to become a product of corruption.

"Jerome had charisma and a personality, but then again- and I might sound very passionate here- you are advanced," you profess. "I have no expertise in your field to give an engineer perspective, but you're quite the mastermind, Mr. Valeska."

"You are too kind," Jeremiah intoned, making his grand exit by simply walking away. His follower trails along, catching up so the umbrella doesn't leave his head.

"Wait!" You called over the loud rainfall. "So is that a yes?!"

Jeremiah stopped and turned his heel toward you. "You are to figure out the answer on your own. I already have everything I need with the exception of a pending Bruce Wayne, which you most certainly can't just plop right in front of me, now can you?"

He grins at you, a grin you yearned to see up close and personal from now on. "But until then, you are nothing but bacteria in this city's decay- and for Heaven's sake, it is putrid."

And he was gone.

Public defenders, lawyers who provide legal defense for those who cannot afford it, are often all that stands between modern Jean Valjeans and 19 years in prison. This post by Radley Balko, a journalist advocating for criminal justice reform, points out that even though the right to a lawyer is guaranteed in the USA if you're facing serious charges, public defenders are underfunded, overworked, and demoralized. All of which gets in the way of putting up a good fight in court for their clients. That's where you come in. We're going to raise money for public defender organizations via the Bishop Myriel Fundraiser 2023. You can start submitting your offers now, in accordance with the rules, and bidding will commence as the offers are coming in.

SUBMIT your offering post to this blog! Include a link to this rules post in your own post, and also a minimum starting offer for your item, which can be a fic, art, or a physical item--be creative! mmm i'd say pinterest but that doesn't really count as social media i want to say tumblr too but i haven't curated my dashboard well enough to actually enjoy scrolling through it so i just post and dip. same for Instagram and tiktok, i want to stay away from doom scrolling reels for 10 hours yk that leaves me with twitter and listen.,, /My/ own twt timeline is the least stimulating app out of all of them cause it's mostly just art and funny stuff. i'm not saying it's a common experience or that twitter is better than all the other apps because it definitely is not it sucks ass buuuut mine is pretty tame cause i have cool moots Art-wise, twitter is my main platform (as in, it's where all my art is and where most of my "'audience'" comes from) but lately I've been enjoying posting on tumblr more. you simply don't get reblogs of people shamelessly screaming and key smashing in the tags anywhere else, it's a tumblr-exclusive experience. I'm also a big fan of the yap-friendly format as there is no strict word limit. the Tumblr People are also surprisingly active and interactive here as well which i also like (case-and-point: the #ask iztea tag that i never even knew i needed to make)

Hi Minnie, hope you’re well. Saw your reblog about not reposting artwork, and it made me wonder what your thoughts are on something sort of similar.

Most people on here would probably agree that stealing someone’s fan art or fanfic is wrong. But there’s also something I’ve noticed in a smallish, maybe medium-sized fandom I’m in that has gotten some new fans recently. Maybe it happens in other fandoms too. Using Chris for an example—let’s say someone found a rare old interview with him in a print magazine that didn’t seem to be known in the fandom, so they scanned it and posted it. Most people would just reblog or like it. But someone else might nab it and post it on their own Tumblr blog or Twitter or Discord, etc.

Now, I think that’s not so bad if they at least credit and link to the original post. But most people don’t bother to do that, and are happy to accept the credit as if they were the one who found it. This happens fairly often in my fandom now (and it seems to be mostly the newbies doing it) and I’m not sure how to address it as I seem to be the only one who notices or cares.

It’s not quite as bad as stealing someone’s art, because they’re literally just sharing an interview or pic or whatever which they technically don’t own in any way. But I still feel like it’s slightly shady to do if it’s something rare, or maybe if there’s already a very similar “legacy” post that’s well-known in the fandom. What are your thoughts on it? Should we basically accept that as soon as we post something it’s free game for the internet, or try to have a bit more, IDK, Tumblr decorum, lol.

I know some of it’s down to excitement and eagerness to share things, and of course people don’t necessarily see every post even in a small fandom so they might not know that someone already posted something. But the frequency of it happening makes me think maybe they just want all the notes to themselves.

Hi darling! I'm doing well, thank you, I hope you are too! Thank you so much for your message, this is actually such an interesting question, and so eloquently put, too.

I definitely recognise what you're describing, it happens occasionally in the Stucky / Sebastian / Chris fandoms as well, and I basically feel the exact same way about it that you do. I agree it's not quite on the same level as stealing/reposting fanart or fanfic, and it also ranks below using gifs without credit and passing them off as your own, because all of these kinds of works take a great deal of effort and time to create, and are overall very personal in nature.

That isn't quite the case for photos or interviews that people dig up and post, but even that takes time and effort, and so in my opinion, the decent thing to do if you want to share that sort of content to another platform would be to ask permission first, or at the very least to give credit to whomever posted it first (although it is of course hard to determine to whom the credit is really owed in this case, because you could argue the credit belongs to the original photographers/authors only, but of course that is often arguable too when they've been released publicly etc., but hey, how hard is it really to be like "I found this here, thank you to this person to bringing it to my attention!" or something to that effect?)

So yeah, basically I think there can't be any hard rules for this sort of reposting, but I do absolutely think that ideally, everyone should always try to be decent about it, and not just repost stuff they've just seen someone else post and act like it was their own discovery, especially if it's something rare. There are definitely folks around who do this often and shamelessly, ostensibly for the notes and clout. It's not a crime, but it is kinda lame imo, and just bad fandom etiquette.

Hey folks!  Taking a moment here to talk about some exciting things happening in my life- hopefully, maybe, definitely!

I’m currently in the very early stages of planning to move out of my parent’s house to a place of my own. Unfortunately I can’t afford to buy a house (Who can??), and I’m not keen on going hundreds of thousands into debt. So my partner and I have the crazy idea to buy land instead and build our own tiny house on it, and slowly work it into a little self-sustaining as possible, lowest footprint as possible, homestead.

Of course that’s still potentially going to cost more than me and partner actually have, but after doing some estimations, it’s the best option for saving money and saving our quality of life as well, as both of us want nothing more than to grow our own food, have privacy, and get out of the city.

Now comes the part where I shamelessly plug my artistic services because my job doesn’t pay me enough! :D I’d appreciate any support that you can give, be it liking and reblogging my art or throwing some cash my way for some character art or pet portraits. I would LOVE to do experimental digital paintings. I also have some experience in sewing handmade plushies and making wool felted dolls. I’m still learning to 3d model with Blender but I’d be willing to do some pretty cheap models as practice as well! I intend to share some examples of these in another post. Even advice would be appreciated in regards to making money these ways.

I like the sharks from IDW! (i just love sharks) but i’m also a pretty big fan of Quarry

yeaaaaaah I have a LOT but there’s 4 main ones that I could actually go into detail over (i promise i’ll keep this as brief as possible)

Finn: shark mutant/yōkai/thingy. she’s a therapist and is my insert to geT THOSE DANG TURTLES INTO SOME ACTUAL THERAPY GODDAMMIT. her backstory is that her family is a shark mafia and she didn’t wanna participate in the violence

Tomatillo: my fifth turtle. he’s an archer with anxiety and gets mutated way later so he exhibits a lot more turtle instincts. used to be Brooklyn’s pet that she rescued from a fishing net

Brooklyn: i made her originally cuz i was mad at 2012 for forcing donnie to be the smart one with EVERYTHING. she’s since grown but her main shtick is still biology and being the local nurse for the Turtles

T’Ytian: LIGHT OF MY LIFE WIND OF MY SAILS he is a salamandrian warrior being trained under Y’Gythgba and G’Throkka. he’s my little ray of sunshine and wields a halberd. sorta dense in social affairs. he’s so so excited to prove himself. don’t ask him to spar he’ll just start with no warning

Hi, Soph!

I saw your reblog earlier about people not reblogging content and just taking it and making it their own. That's fucked up and I haven't done that, however, it made me think about how I reblog your gorgeous and lovely gifs. I've already addressed how my Tumblr is basically me reblogging what you create. I care so little about who follows me, but I loooove everything you create and am appreciative on so many levels. It brings me joy and I don't care if we're a tiny group, some things deserved to be seen over and over and over again. Even your non QAF content is good and it all matters to me.

I've typically always used just #qaf but today I decided to start adding #QueerAsFolk too, just in hope it'll reach someone new who might be doing a search randomly.

Is there something else, with the goal that your hard work should be seen by more?

Regardless, know I appreciate all of your art and know you take so much time and care. For example, and this is on the most ~basic~ level, you made me aware of how the lighting on this show is wonky to gif. But then you make a set a juxtaposition, or themed, or just some new contrasting idea I had never considered. OMG, you're talented.

To be honest I don't really expect my qaf sets to get a high number of notes compared to my other stuff as it's not a current show and it's gonna be 25 years since it first aired. I thought it was more popular on tumblr than it actually is, but i'm happy with you guys, my friends reblogging it means a lot to me.

And we have had some new fans this year and last that have discovered the show, how can we forget anon's brother who became a superfan!

I think what is hard for us gifmakers these days is that people don't reblog as they used to, more and more people steal our stuff both here and on other platforms shamelessly or complain about what we've made. At this point there is no excuse for it.

But we are here putting out content daily, but there is nothing for us to reblog, because it becomes a vicious cycle of people not sharing gifmakers content so they give up making things which means for the people that still produce things, we have nothing to share.

I joined the Star Wars fandom in 2021 after the release of Mando season 2. I'm most interested in The Mandalorian and original trilogy era stuff, I don't know a ton about the prequels and I've never watched the sequels
