Iâm bored, so hereâs some MLB iCarly quotes
Nora: Okay, everyone! Today was an amazing achievement, thanks to the teamwork of everyone here, and I just wanna tell you all how sincerely grateful I am-
Marinette: Text message from Alya. She's on her way up!
Nora: Everybody get out of my house!
â
Adrien: Last night I slept with my socks on.
Nino: So?
Adrien: Just my socks.
â
Marinette: When temperatures get too high, the elderly will start to die!
Kim: ⊠That is a freaky rhyme.
â
Juleka: See anything?
Rose: Just trees... and some bushes... and two squirrels wrestling.
Juleka: Rose?
Rose: Yeah?
Juleka: Theyâre not wrestling.
Rose: Oh.
â
Alix: Câmon, Nath. Get up.
Nathaniel: Why? Is the Queen of England here to tell me Iâm ugly and have no friends?
â
Nathaniel: Nice! First they insult my art, then they call me dead! Which incidentally I'm not!
â
Nathaniel: I once met a freaky rabbi in vegas.
â
Nino: See, Marinette and Alya are in a big fight, and both girls think they're right.
Marinette: I am right.
Alya: You am wrong.
Marinette: You am obnoxious.
â
Nathaniel: *In response to being called a twig* I'm getting curvier everyday.
Marc: *checking him out* I know.
â
Alix: You don't really want Nathaniel.
Nathaniel: Iâm a mess!
Rose: He has no job.
Nathaniel: Who would hire me?
Rose: He doesn't hang out with anyone.
Nathaniel: Iâve never been popular.
Alix: He drinks juice in the shower.
Nathaniel: All naked and wet!
Rose: And he hasn't had a steady girlfriend since high school.
Nathaniel: Ok, maybe not a steady girlfriend "per se"...
Juleka: And just look at his flat butt.
Nathaniel: Too far!
â
Nathaniel: My butt is not flat!
Juleka: Yeah it is.
Nathaniel: This... *Turns around* looks flat? Come on, it's like two fresh apples back here!
â
Myléne: He's not cheating on me.
Alix: Denial's not just a river in Utah
Myléne: Egypt!
â
Marinette: Felix told me I'm one of a kind.
Rose: Yeah, and my dad once told my mom that he was coming back⊠So, moving on...
â
Lucien: Your work disgusts me.
Nathaniel: Yeah, well, Lucienâs a stupid name!
â
Nino: You hired a personal chef?
Adrien: Well, my dad doesn't feed me.
â
Marinette: You know, maybe Adrienâs right. Maybe you're just jealous of Kagami.
Chloé: Okay, just... forget it. Don't believe me.
Marinette: Tell me one reason why I should believe you.
Chloé: Because I came here. Have I ever come to you for help before? For anything?
â
Alix: This is worse than the time you dared me to lick the swing set.
Nathaniel: I didn't dare you to lick the swing set. I said, "Alix, don't lick the swing set," you said, "Don't tell me what to do," punched me, and then licked the swing set.
â
Alix: Dude, why is your voice so deep?
Nino: I dunno, puberty?
â
Sabrina: You know what? You are so right. And I'm sitting here with an Australian Eskimo with ointment all over his bumbleberry!
â
Chloé: Well, let's just say one of you is gonna win a date with an awesome guy.
Marc: Nathaniel?!
Chloé: I said awesome guy, not ridiculous goob.
â
Marinette: Marc, what size dress do you wear?
Marc: Ten. Why?
â
Marinette: I don't need a robotic boyfriend. I guarantee you, twenty years from now, I'll be Adrienâs second wife.
Adrien: What happened to my first wife?
Marinette: Nothing you can prove.
â
Kim: Stairs! Stairs! Stairs!
Alix: ⊠She meant pantiesâŠ
Kim: ⊠Now Iâm embarrassed.
â
Adrien: Just apologize to the chicken!!!
Nathaniel: ⊠I'm sorry I b'smeared your name by calling you stupid!⊠And that I've eaten thousands of your relatives.
â
Marinette: We'll tell ya what's goin' on! We've been held hostage here all night by your psychotic daughter!
Nino: And your demented wife!

Pain of the Tongue
This is not for my SoulTember challenge but the idea is you feel the pain of your soulmate. Marinette feels a familiar pain in her tongue but it fades quicker than last time. Now she has an idea and some suspicions as to who her soulmate is.
Marinette knew she was being rude by ignoring her best friend but this was way more important. The this being the mouth of one Luka Couffaine. It had been bugging her ever since Juleka let it slip that her ever so lovable dumbass of a brother and his walking fashion hazzard disaster of a best friend had done something stupid and Luka had bit through his tongue. The same day hers had started with a sharp pain that faded into a dull one that meant her soulmate had done something to theirs. Which meant that her soulmate could be Luka. Or wishful thinking but she had to prove it one way or another.
"Girl you stare at his mouth any longer and he might just offer his lips to you."
"I want to kiss him but that's so not what this is about." A beat of silence passed and Marinette realized she said that out loud. "Juleka said a couple weeks ago that Luka did something and bit through his tongue right?"
"Uh-huh?" The unsaid I'm not following was loud and clear in the reporter's tone.
"The same day I had a really bad and lingering pain in my tongue. I was thinking about it and a couple years ago I had a sharp unexplainable pain that lasted about four weeks. Looking it up back then to find answers, I found some piercing care websites and the typical healing time frame is four to six weeks. I think Luka has his tongue pierced and he's my soulmate."
"Okay wow, hold on girl." Alya pulled up her notepad on her phone and started a list. "Evidence we can prove please."
"He never shows his tongue, ever. When he laughs, it's always behind his hand or just a quiet chuckle that doesn't show it. Never sticks it out when Juleka does it to him. Juleka always mentions his obsession with rocky road ice cream and how he was ready to die when he couldn't have it for a month. Luka hurt his tongue the same day mine hurt. He's always careful of what he eats, using mouthwash after meals as recommended on those piercing sites."
"Clearly you need to be the Ladyblogger and not me. So what are you going to do? Just bat your pretty blue eyes and lay one on him?"
"Maybe but I need proof first."
"I gotta say, I'm glad we're over the Adrien days."
"Me too Alya, me too."
--
The plan was simple: try and make Luka show his tongue. The only problem is she was making him nervous with all her staring and Juleka was noticing. Marinette forgot how focused on something she could be but decided to tone it down otherwise he was going to think she had an unhealthy fascination with his mouth. Which okay she did but not like in a creepy way. Whatever.
"Did Luka do something?"
"Not recently, no."
"Okay⊠Can I ask why you're staring at my brother like he's a piece of meat?"
"I'm not meaning to! I mean I am staring but like it's for a reason!" She groaned, this wasn't sounding any better by the second. "You can help me. Do you know if Luka has his tongue pierced?"
"Why?" Marinette really hated how all the Couffaines had that stare into your soul look.
"I've been thinking about it and two years ago my tongue had this sharp pain that lasted about a month and then last week it was kind of similar and it seems when Luka hurt his tongue mine started hurting which you know soulmates share each other's pain and it's possible he's mine?" That was tame as far as her rambles normally would go and now she just had to wait.
"So you've been trying to catch⊠His tongue?"
"Yes."
"You could just ask him"
"I know!"
"Or kiss him, see if it's there." The purple loving girl shrugged as if it wasn't a big deal either way.
"Juleka!"
"No need to sound so scandalized. So maybe he does and maybe he doesn't. How are you going to prove it?"
"Haven't gotten that far."
--
Luka grabbed another popsicle from the freezer, it was like back when he had gotten his tongue pierced. He had had it checked out and nothing was wrong with the piercing or the slight scar so the only conclusion he could come to was something to do with his soulmate. Which was weird to think about because it caused a trill of happiness and an equal response of upset. He still held feelings for a certain pink designer after all.
"Oh my God! Have you seen it?! Have you seen it?" Alya's voice could be heard before her footsteps clamored across the deck. Signing, he grabbed a large cup of ice and took that too. They had band practice but his mouth pain was killing him.
"What are you talking about Alya?" Oh hey, Marinette was here too.
"Ladybug! I had a short interview with her and she got her tongue pierced!"
"What?" Okay that wasn't his voice but Juleka was keeping the convo going and he stayed where he was just out of sight for a moment.
"Yeah! She got her tongue pierced! I asked her why she wasn't talking as much in the last few akuma battles and her face looked like she was in pain so she just stuck out her tongue and then yo-yo'd away!"
"That's cool but it must be painful." Marinette was coming around the corner and paused as she saw Luka, raising a fine arched brow as if waiting for an answer.
"It was so cool! I almost missed it on camera but look Rose!"
"Hey Marinette."
"Hey Luka, I have an important question. For tongue piercings at what point is kissing considered okay?"
"Four to six weeks depending on the person and their healing ability. Sometimes its less and if you take good care of it then usually a month as long its not tonsil hockey battle." The response was a knee jerk reaction and recited the exact same words his piercer gave him.
"Hm well I guess I can live with that for now." Why was she getting closer and why- Oh. Oh. Marinette was kissing him. Wait. Kissing him?! Luka froze up and a blush took over his face, causing the sneaky girl to giggle as she pulled back. Patting his cheek with a shy smile, Marinette promptly stuck out her tongue to reveal a bar with two balls the color of Viperion's suit.
"Wait, what?" Luka.exe has crashed.
"You work on getting your brain working again and maybe you can get a second chance at that kiss later."
Oh hell.

When You Are Ready
Summary: Years after the events of the akuma Truth Luka gets a visit from an old friend he hadnât seen in years. And theyâre finally ready to tell him the truth. Inspired by S4E01 episode âTruthâ.
***SPOILER WARNING***
The story below contains spoilers to the ML episode "Truth". If you haven't watched, read at your own risk.
This is for all the heartbroken Lukanette stans out there.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
âGreat playinâ with you tonight, son,â Jagged stuck his head inside Lukaâs dressing room. For some reason his smile was wider than usual.Â
âThanks, J,â Luka nodded. Even after they managed to mend the 16 year gap in their relationship, he couldnât bring himself to call the rockman âdadâ. âYou too.â
Jaggedâs head remained at the door.Â
âYou wanted something, old man?â Luka asked. Theyâd been performing together for a few years already, but it wasnât like Jagged to randomly pay him a visit after a concert.
Jagged gasped in mock offence. âIâm not that old, mind you. Still can kick your ass on the lead guitar, rookie,â he waved a warning finger. âIâm heading out, just dropped to tell you thereâs someone waiting for you at the back. I let her in because itâs raining cats and dogs outside.â
âHerâ?
Plenty of fans loitered around after their concerts, but the security kept them in check. Who could make Jagged invite them inside despite their security policy?
âWho is she?â
Jaggedâs grin got positively sly. âAn old friend, thatâs all Iâm sayinâ. Just remember to show up to rehearsal tomorrow.â He winked and shot the young man with a finger gun.
That was weird, even for Jagged. Luka quickly gathered his things, secured his guitar and left the dressing room. The corridor was dark and quiet, with most of the crew already gone, but Luka thought there was something strangely familiar in the air, like a memory of a forgotten song that suddenly slipped into his mind. He made a few tentative steps and turned the corner.
Indeed, there was a woman at the back door, leaning against the wall and fidgeting nervously. She turned a small package in her hands and tapped her foot, as if trying to gather courage. He recognized her song in an instant.
âMarinette?â Luka rasped, suddenly breathless.
She turned her infinitely blue eyes to him. She was even more beautiful than he remembered. When was the last time he saw her? At Julekaâs graduation? Maybe a few times after that?Â
Her life was already a whirlwind when he had met her, and little had changed in the following years. She was always so busy, always in a hurry. Her song became more frantic, burdened with fear and guilt. Luka couldnât take it. And so days of silence turned into weeks, then months and years. Despite their best efforts they drifted apart and even her occasional commissions for Jagged never served as an opportunity to meet or catch up. He got on with his life, even if Marinette always held a special place in his heart.Â
âHi!â She smiled hesitantly, brushing a stray curl of her hair behind her ear.
âOh my gosh, hi!â Luka dropped his bag and hugged her tight. At first she went stiff in his arms, but it only took a moment for her to relax and reciprocate the embrace.Â
âItâs so good to see you,â he said, letting her go. âHow are you?â
It really was good to see her, although his heart stuttered in her presence. He wanted to ask an entirely different question. Why was she here? Why did she come to see him after years of keeping quiet?Â
âIâm okay, you know, just doing my thing,â she shrugged. That obviously wasnât how she wanted this conversation to go either.
âSo what brings you here? Still a fan of Jagged?â He risked.
âYeah, yours as well, but- â she paused and took a deep breath, âthatâs not why Iâm here. Iâm- ugh, why is this so hard?â she muttered under her breath.
Luka put his hands on her shoulders. âEasy, Marinette,â he whispered, âremember you can tell me everything, always,â he assured. Â
She closed her eyes. âThis was a stupid idea. I just-â
He waited patiently, feeling her shiver under his touch. Her song became erratic, panicked even. This was so unlike Marinette, he started to worry.
âYou said- that evening by the Seine you said, âwhen youâre readyâ,â she spoke quietly.
He could barely hear her, but still her words made him come back to that heartbreaking moment by the bridge, when she ended things between them even before they really began. He never found out why, never understood, but also never questioned her decision.Â
âItâs been 10 years,â he said, more to himself and his memory.Â
âYeahâŠâ
âSo many things happened in those 10 years,â he mused.
âMhmmmâŠâ Marinette murmured. âYour solo album came out. You were on tour with Jagged. We graduated, went to university.â
âHawkmoth was defeated.â
âOnly recently,â she reminded him. âBut yeah.â
Silence fell over them. Luka still couldnât make anything out of her presence and her reason to come.
âYou said: âwhen youâre ready, Iâll be here for youâ,â she repeated, louder now, more determined, as if she finally found her courage. âAre you?â
âIf youâre asking, if I have been in a relationship since we were teens, Marinette,â he replied carefully picking his words, âthen yes - Iâve been in a few, actually.âÂ
But she must have known that, heâd always been honest, not only with her, but with everyone. He never hid. Not after his akumatizations. Heâd learned from his parentsâ and his own mistakes.Â
Marinette hunched. Before she turned her face away from him he glimpsed a tear in her eye. She bit her lip.
But none of them could ever compare to you, he wanted to say. The song of her heart has changed, matured, but it was no less fascinating. If anything, he found it even more captivating than when sheâd been 14.Â
However, at least one thing about him hadnât changed either.Â
âIâm a simple, honest guy, Marinette,â he said. âMy heart doesnât handle rejection well, neither dishonesty. Without the truth-â he drifted off, letting her come to the conclusion on her own. He wasnât that cruel to say it out loud.
âI remember what you said and I remember what Iâve done, what Iâve been like,â Marinette was calm now, but there was strange gravity in her tone. âI wouldnât have come here, if - like youâd said - I wasnât ready. Here,â the box sheâd been playing with appeared in front of his face. âOpen it, when youâre alone. Then youâll understand.â
âUnderstand what?â
âMe,â she said quietly, turning to leave.
âWhat about Adrien?â Luka remembered that thorn as well.
Marinette halted with her hand on the doorknob. âThatâs a long story.â
âBelieve me, I know,â Luka chuckled humorlessly.
âAdrienâs still a big part of my life, but weâre not a couple,â Marinette said in a colorless voice.
âJust friends?â He couldnât help himself.
âHah,â she snorted. âBest friends. But just friends.â
âReally?â
âYeah. Adrien has some stuff he needs to deal with and I- I finally know what I want and what I need,â she turned and shot him a meaningful look. Then she left.
Luka stayed in the darkness for a while, mulling over the revelations of the past few minutes. Marinette had always cared for the truth, he knew that well. But there was a new sincerity to her today, laced with quiet determination, that shook him to his core. He wished he could comprehend that mystery.
Then his eyes fell on the little gift box and her words came back to him. âOpen it. Then youâll understand.â
Luka braced himself and slowly, carefully raised the lid.Â
Oh.
Inside, on blue silk lay a single guitar pick. It was red with a pattern of black dots.Â
Oh.
Finally the missing piece of the puzzle clicked into place. The part of the melody thatâs been eluding him from the start, just out of his reach, but right under his nose. He smiled to himself as his fingers closed over the pick. And for the first time in years his heart skipped a beat.
Didnât Need Burrow (April 11th-16th)
Anonymous said:
Didn't Need Burrow: After the Truth episode occurs, Luka will either not appear nor be talked about(not even by Marinette, Juleka, Sass, or Anarka) at all, or, if he does appear, he'll avoid Marinette like the Black Plague. Guess who's fault it'll be(Kagami will still appear and be on good terms with Adrien, though, since anything that makes Marinette happy needs to be either ruined or gotten rid of, while anything that makes her miserable needs to stay around just to be rubbed into her face.).
I s2g if they have Adrien and Kagami patch things up immediately just to make Marinette feel awkward--
Anonymous said:
Didn't Need Burrow: The idea that Nino's hat is a keepsake from his late brother comes up during an episode where it inevitably gets damaged and/or destroyed. Marinette is somehow responsible/blamed for this, and/or is forced to try and repair it regardless of feasibility, while being guilt-tripped/ridden every inch of the way. Bonus points for Adrien making some clueless comment about buying a replacement and STILL being treated as more empathetic to Nino's feelings even while ignoring them.
âBonusâ if everyone pressures her over the hat, which eventually leads to Marinette realizes that it canât be fixed to be the exact same way, so she hides it and lies about it, leading to the episode blaming her for hiding things from her âtotally understanding friendsâ (who are suddenly âtotally understandingâ and are only upset that she lied to them/âthought so lowly of themâ) instead of her friends for making her feel like she had to be perfect.
Anonymous said:
Didn't Need Burrow: A Sleeping Beauty-inspired akuma will ensnare Ladybug, 'forcing' Chat Noir to kiss her awake. While Adrien/Chat naturally claims that he would 'never take advantage of his lady', he is openly gleeful at the prospect and taunts her afterwards, complete with a call back to Oblivio as he tells her to 'check the LadyBlog' to find out what happened. Her dismay over this is played entirely for laughs.
*flashbacks to the âjokesâ in âPrime Queenâ*
Anonymous said:
Didn't Need Burrow: Just like in countless Salt Fics, Alya will get upset at Ladybug for claiming that it's 'too dangerous' for her to be Rena Rouge anymore after Miracle Queen. Regardless of what she does/how she lashes out, Marinette will be held 100% responsible for the fallout, with Su-Han criticizing her for selecting Alya/the others in the first place AND for 'allowing' their identities to be exposed.
Thatâs what you get for trusting people, Marinette (apparently).
Anonymous said:
Didn't Need Burrow: Alya will expose more Miraculous-related secrets on the LadyBlog, such as posting the identities of the heroes who were 'already outed' by Miracle Queen. Marinette will be blamed for this, with Su-Han reading her the riot act for every single choice she's made.
And also, Alya will get no flack for this because âsheâs a journalist!! sheâs just doing what sheâs supposed to do!â
Anonymous said:
Didn't Need Burrow: After spending most of the season taking the piss out of Marinette at every available opportunity, Su-Han will start warming up to her just in time to be taken out of the equation by something like Alya posting another 'big scoop' on her blog revealing his existence to the villains. Marinette will be left with even less support and all of the guilt, while Alya learns absolutely nothing from the experience because why would she?
Considering âTruth,â I just automatically presume that characters who support Marinette lovingly/unconditionally will either be abused or kicked to the curb.
Anonymous said:
Don't need Burrow: "Queen Banana" will be like typical episode with Chloe akumatization. 90% Chloe drama and angst, 10% akumatized Chloe (and probably 0% sense)
Show, Iâm begging you, just let this characterâs focus die already. We are SO tired...
Anonymous said:
didnt need burrow: the show ends with hawkmoth (now shadowmoth i guess) being defeated, heavy implications that the LS will be canon, but no solid proof, any other plot holes disappear in the cheery end music and all fans are left annoyed at the open ending filled with plot holes (bonus: That Guy says smin like "you would know if you watched carefully" to anyone that asks wtf happened)
Fun for us love square salters at least so thereâs that? :P
Anonymous said:
Didn't Need Burrow: Trixx wants to return to Alya despite the danger/her past exposure, and ignores Marinette's concerns, leaving/reuniting with Alya over her protests. This is either played as 'It's fine, and Marinette should have trusted Alya more' or 'It's not fine, and it's all Marinette's fault for trusting Alya in the first place and letting Trixx get so attached'. Or both.
Astruc would totally use the opportunity to brag about the whole, âSheâs already taken!â line in âTruthâ being foreshadowing.
Anonymous said:
Didn't Need Burrow: Bunnix reveals that there is an alternate, 'better' future in which Lila never worked with Hawkmoth and became a heroine instead. The turning point was, naturally, that Ladybug never called her out for lying/stealing from Adrien. (Possibly because Adrien never snooped in the safe in this timeline, yet it's still depicted as Marinette's fault.) May couple with confirming she's the future Hawkmoth and that it's all Mari's fault the heroes are still fighting her years later.
Which means that Chat makes the âreversibleâ mistakes (i.e: Cataclysming Bunnyxâs miraculous) while Ladybug makes the âpermanentâ ones.
Anonymous said:
Didn't Need Burrow: Marinette/Ladybug will get accused of being a selfish glory hound who needs to learn how to share the credit and 'be a team player'... after Adrien/Chat slacks off during a fight and refuses to help. Bonus points if this is tied into the exposed heroes' predicament somehow, implying that the REAL reason she won't give them 'their' Miraculi back is that she's selfish/short-sighted/not good at working with others/insert other bullshit excuse here.
T_T
Iâm so tired.
Anonymous said:
Didn't Need Burrow: Marinette will do something unbelievably selfless and self-sacrificing, only to promptly be slammed by the narrative and treated as though her decision was incredibly selfish.
Honestly you could just ad lib that.
âMarinette will do [something positive], only to promptly be slammed by the narrative and treated as though her decision was [negative].â
Anonymous said:
Didn't Need Burrow: Su-Han will pressure, belittle and berate Marinette until she breaks and agrees to give up being Ladybug/the Guardian. This is naturally treated as the worst thing she could possibly do, with everyone (including Su-Han) ripping into her for it. There is no equivalent of Plagg's 'I've had many holders, but nobody can replace you, Adrien' shilling, beyond Marinette being informed that she MUST continue and deal with her many inadequacies by becoming BETTER. She has no choice.
âYouâre the worst Ladybug!â
âOkay Iâll stop being Ladybug.â
âHOW DARE YOUâ
â?!?!?!â
Anonymous said:
Donât need Burrow to know that the writers will retcon Marinette allowing Adrien to BORROW her lucky charm so that Marinette actually GAVE it to him instead.
Bonus: of course, the birthday scarf issue/secret is never addressed. RIP in piece, Marinette gift number xxx0
Technically, this has already happened even back in âBefana,â so I donât count it. Adrien has said that Marinette gave him that lucky charm forever.
Definitely adding that scarf one though.
Anonymous said:
Didn't Need Burrow: We get Love Square scenes (shipping fuel) in the next episode (even though Maribug and Adrichat just broke up with Luka and Kagami).
I mean, we got love square shipping fuel in the Adrimi and Lukanette episodes, so :|
Iâve just come to expect inappropriate timing at this point.
Anonymous said:
Didn't Need Burrow: In a future episode Chat Noir will be even worse than he was in Lies and still be portrayed sympathetically. I don't know how you can get that low, but I have faith that the writers will be able to pull it off and that's not a good thing
âI don't know how you can get that lowâ
theyâll find a way, Iâm sure
Anonymous said:
Didn't Need Burrow: Kagami will become an antagonist/team up with Shadow Moth post-Adrimi breakup for the plot twist "the main villain has been in the show all along." ((This is based on the end card for Lies. I really hope they don't do this because Kagami is one of the only reasons I'm still watching the show.))
Iâd only be here for that if her endgoal is getting Luka and Marinette as far away from the plot as possible.
Anonymous said:
Didn't Need Burrow: We STILL don't know how the Peacock Miraculous got damaged and how Emilie Agreste fell sick. Bonus points, we find out in the season/series finale or on social media.
Double bonus if Astruc claims that the decision is good and they did it on purpose (probably to keep people talking).
Anonymous said:
Didn't Need Burrow: Zoe debuts as the new Bee holder on the same episode Chloé is akumatized.
Iâm 100% expecting Chloe to be salty at all the adoration that Zoe gets.
Anonymous said:
Didn't Need Burrow: if Adrien is ever in the wrong about something, it will only be for about five minutes and it will ultimately be blamed on Marinette.
Marinette: *breathes*
writers: Yes! Something we can blame on her!
Anonymous said:
Didn't need burrow: The relationship between the Couffaines and Jagged will not be explored. They might perform a song together and that's all, Luka forgives Jagged for abandoning him (his daddy issues just magically disappear so he doesn't bring it up anymore) while Juleka doesn't interact with Jagged at all
Iâm torn between, âLuka will basically never appear again,â and, âLuka will suddenly appear much more often now that heâs no longer a âthreatâ to the love square (Marinette didnât break up with him because of Adrien but sure).â
Anonymous said:
Didn't need Burrow: "Gabriel Agreste" will be all about how he's not really evil just misunderstood. He had a lonely childhood or some garbage and we should feel totally sad for him you guys.
wow i hate it
Miraculous Lemonade (Song Fic)
I love the movie Lemonade Mouth and thought that the favoritism shown to the athletes over everyone else on the movie was similar to the favoritism shown to those with high-ranking parents in Miraculous Ladybug. So, an idea instantly formed in my mind. Includes my original characters Lyon and Vallia Garden.
youtube
*****
Adrien sat in the park outside of the Dupain-Cheng Bakery, eating with is two friends from Greece, Lyon and Vallia Garden. The two were doing an exchange program that helped students from other countries experience other cultures. They spoke fluent French, so they came to Paris. Adrien met them years ago when his family went to a charity fashion show that was held at the animal and nature sanctuary that Lyon and Valliaâs family owned.
The three may be a âlittleâ annoyed with what had just happened at school. Lila âLiarâ Rossi had framed Marinette for cheating, assault, and theft. Adrien made, what he called, a âdeal with the devilâ to get Marinette back in school. But it seemed that after her first few days back, Marinetteâs parents decided it was better for her to go to an arts school instead of Dupont.Â
What infuriated the trio the most was that the school made no effort to investigate any of Lilaâs accusations. There was no checking the security footage, no dusting for fingerprints, not even any hearing of Marinetteâs side of the story. They simply took Lila at her word and some easily framed evidence to expel the best student at Dupont. It made them all furious.
âYou know the favoritism shown at your school is appalling, right,â Vallia raised an eyebrow as she looked at her friend.
Adrien sighed. âI know, I know. But what could I do about it? Iâm the son of a fashion designer, not a politician like Chloe.â
âThat bratâs a part of the problem, anyway,â Lyon scoffed. âThe entire school was punished and she is the only one that gets out of it? Iâve seen less corrupt politicians in Gotham, and that says something.â
âI know people criticize me for being Chloeâs friend, but would you two give up a friend that youâve had since you were a kid,â Adrien asked them.
âHonestly, no,â Vallia said. âWe get how you feel, Adrien, but one day Chloe will do something unforgivable and you will have to choose between her and your other friends.â
âI think I chose a while ago but just didnât want to admit it,â Adrien says. âChloe had her chance to be a better person when she was Queen Bee. But even after getting to be a hero, she still got her father, Sabrina, and Aurore akumatized.â
âIs there anyone she hasnât akumatized,â Lyon crossed his arms.
âOut of all our class, only Marinette and I have not been akumatized,â Adrien says. âAnd for everyone that has, only Max, Nino, and Lila were not akumatized by her.â
âWell, Lila being akumatized was probably her own fault anyway,â Lyon shrugged. âShe lies with every breath she takes and one of them probably bit her in the butt at one time or another.â
âOh, I didnât tell you guys yet, have I,â Adrien thought he had told them already.
âTold us what,â Vallia asked.
âYou two were not here when she had her real first day,â Adrien tells them. âLila lied on Alyaâs blog about being Ladybugâs best friend. She had met me after school and tried to lie about not only being the descendant of a hero but also being the holder of the fox miraculous.â
âSeriously,â Lyon raised an eyebrow. âShe was actually that stupid? Why not just put up a giant light-up sign that says âHawkmoth, come and attack me,â with her address written in neon.â
âIf she hasnât been targeted, Hawkmoth probably knows that sheâs a liar,â Vallia said.
Adrien nodded. âDuring our conversation, Ladybug herself showed up. She probably saw Lilaâs interview because she immediately called Lila out for her lies. Ladybug obviously hates liars as much as Marinette. Lila ran away and the next thing I know, she is breaking into my house while akumatized as Volpina and once again claiming to be a hero.â
âSo thatâs how you know sheâs a liar,â Vallia understood now. âBut why didnât you tell anyone?â
âBecause at the time she was only lying to get attention and friends,â Adrien said. âHave you seen my class, weâre all special in a lot of ways. Alya runs the most popular blog in Paris. Nino gets a lot of attention as a DJ. Juleka, Rose, and Ivan are members of a band that has been getting a lot of attention lately. Rose is friends with Prince Ali. Chloe is the mayorâs daughter. I am a model and the face of my dadâs brand. Even Marinette knows Jagged Stone, Clara Nightingale, and has impressed my father and Chloeâs Style Queen of a mother with her designs. Compared to all of us, Lilaâs lies are not that unbelievable.â
Vallia and Lyon actually see where he was coming from. Being surrounded by people her own age and yet they have accomplished so much, it made sense why Lila would want to lie about herself like that.
âBut then she took things too far, right,â Lyon asked his friend.
Adrien nodded. âOnce she came back from her, so called, trip to Achu, she started using her lies to manipulate the class, which you guys have seen. She lied about having tinnitus so she could sit next to me, lied about having a sprained wrist to get Kim to carry her lunch tray, she even lied about having an allergy to tomatoes to make Rose take them out of her salad for her.â
âIsnât that why she was akumatized into Chameleon,â Vallia remembered Adrien telling them. âYou told her to stop lying.â
âYeah,â Adrien said. âWhen she suddenly left for her âtrip,â I saw no reason to humiliate her by telling people about Ladybug calling her out. Plus, itâs not like they had any reason to believe me since none of them ever believed Marinette when she told them that Lila is a liar.â
âAnd it does not help that no one in school ever tries to actually fact-check her stories,â Lyon rolled his eyes.
âItâs not like itâs hard, either,â Vallia agreed with her brother. âJagged Stone published his autobiography three months ago. There is no mention of a cat, a plane crash, or anyone named Lila in the entire book. It even specifically says that he had Fang, his crocodile, since he was twenty. That is fifteen years that he has had him.â
âI know, I know, my school is full of the most gullible people in Paris,â Adrien sighed. âAnd now that Marinette is gone, it seems like Chloe and Lila have teamed up and are ruling the school with iron fists. I can barely get a minute without one of them hanging off my arm.â
âAnd itâs not like any of the teachers or Damocles are doing anything,â Lyon says. âIâve seen you, ask, request, and even demand for them to let go of you and they never do. Youâve even done it in front if some teachers and none of them ever did anything.â
âItâs the daughter of the mayor and the daughter of a diplomat,â Vallia sighed. âThey will, most likely, never do anything. Even if it involves the son of a rich fashion designer.â
âItâs not like we can do anything about it,â Adrien sounded defeated. âDamocles is too afraid of losing money from the mayor and itâs not like Chloe and Lila are ever going to change.â
He was rubbing his very sore and bruised upper right arm, which Lila had been holding onto very tightly for most of the school day. And he knew that he would also probably have to deal with more of her harassment at the next photoshoot that he has with her.
âBut... can even Damocles deny change when the entire school is rallied against him and those like him,â Lyon smirked.
âOh, I know what youâre thinking, Lyon, and I am in total agreement,â Vallia brightly smiled.
âUh... mind cluing me in, guys,â Adrien was completely lost.
âWell, you know that Lyon and I are friends with Clara Nightingale,â Vallia started.
Adrien nodded. When the pop star had come to Paris to shoot her âMiraculousâ music video, she had basically tackled the twins when she saw them. Apparently, she had met them years ago when she did a charity concert at their family sanctuary and even now treated the two like they were younger siblings to her.
âClara had told us the reason why she started performing in the first place,â Lyon continued for his sister. âWhen she was our age, she attended a high school that focused entirely on athletics and nothing else. To the point where all other extracurriculars were pushed into the basement with no budget for any of them. So she used her music to spread the massage of what was happening. She wound up getting a sponsor for the music program that built an entire auditorium for her school even when the principal tried to deny it.â
âSo, she basically started a music revolution,â Adrien summed up.
âExactly,â Vallia says. âWe can do the same here. Use music to show that not everyone tolerates the favoritism. It should prove more of a problem since all three of us are rich but also see it as a problem.â
âWe should probably also add those that are not like us,â Adrien says. âKitty Section could help, plus Luka and Juleka are not under Lilaâs spell.â
âBut Rose and Ivan are,â Lyon reminded. âWithout them, we would not have a drummer or a singer. Vallia and I can sing, but neither of us play the drums. Iâm classically trained on the violin and Vallia doesnât play any instrument.â
âKim plays the drums,â Vallia said. âAnd when Lila got Marinette expelled, he snapped out of her spell.â
âGuess we have our plan,â Adrien says.Â
âWeâll talk with Nathaniel and Marc,â Lyon said. âThey can spread it to the rest of the school and we will soon have as much support as we will need before we perform and get the Board of Education involved.â
âBut what about your father, Adrien,â Vallia was worried about her friendâs âstick-in-the-mudâ of a parent. âHe would never agree with you being a part of any type of revolution.â
âWell, my father will just have to deal with it,â Adrien shrugged. âPlus, I can always spin it to make it look good for the brand when my fans see it as me trying to help those that are neglected because they are not rich.â
The twins smirked as they walked off to get their friends in on their plan.
*****
Luka and Juleka were more than happy to use music to change Dupont for the better. Luka went to an arts school, but Juleka wanted a normal school and she was currently regretting her choice. Kim was also very glad to finally be able to show that he was more than just a jock and that he was about more than just dares and jokes. Seeing the bruises that Lila and Chloe had been leaving on Adrienâs arms just motivated them even more.
They decided to give their performance at a school dance that was coming soon. The entire school would be there. And when they talked to Marc, his classâs president Aurore contacted the Board of Education and they were going to send a few members to check out the problem.
âYou guys ready,â Luka asked them as he picked up his guitar.Â
âReady as we will ever be,â Juleka answers.
âIâm just glad to finally be able to stick it to the man,â Kim grins brightly.
âThe song you guys chose is certainly a good one,â Adrien looks at Lyon and Vallia.
âWhat can we say, we love American Disney movies,â Vallia smirked. âMakes us glad that weâre fluent in english.â
The dance got dark, allowing them to get onto the stage that was set up for them. They had convinced Damocles to let them perform, saying they had an important message to give out with their music. Since three of the performers were rich, he let them. It did not go unnoticed how he had rejected Kitty Section when they had wanted to perform at the last dance even when they had told him the same thing.
Adrien stood behind the keyboard as Kim sat at the drums while Juleka picked up her bass and Luka stood with his guitar. Lyon was taking the lead singing position while Vallia was back-up vocals and running their âspecialâ effects. They all had their own mics for them they took turns singing their verses. They were going to get their message out whether people at Dupont wanted it to or not.
Adrien was just glad he managed to avoid both Lila and Chloe since there was no way either of them would have let go of him and let him perform. But after this, he hoped to never have to deal with either of them ever again.
The music started, the spotlights shining down on them. Lyon took the lead and began.
Lyon- âHear it getting louder, a call for revolution Yeah, we came for what was ours, it's time for restitution We'll protect our own, take back the stone No, human nature cannot hold us down.â Luka- âStranded at the bottom, but we're more than a whisper No, we'll never be forgotten, our blood's thicker than silver, yeah When worlds collide, it's do or die So tell me, is it wrong to stand your ground?â Lyon+ Luka- âHear us howl, all or nothing Fangs are out, we ain't running Hear us howl, it's all or nothing.â All six- âOh oh oh oh This is a declaration Oh oh oh oh Of a new generation It's now or never, we're in this together We'll fight through the highs and the lows No, we won't break, we're more than flesh and bone.â
Lyon gave a wink to his sister and she started the real part of the show. With members of the board in the audience, this was going to force some changes to be made.Â
She pressed a button, images and videos started showing on the giant screen behind them. If they could see the board members, they would have seen some very furious faces.
All of the images were of destroyed property, bruises or scratches on people, and even of old things like the destroyed make-up bag that Chloe took a marker to. Then was the clear message when pictures of Lila and Chloe were shown with GUILTY under their pictures then with pictures of the school staff with DOES NOTHING under them.
Lila, Chloe, and Damocles were all white as ghosts.
Vallia- âThe world has gone crazy and no one seems to listen Gotta step in, no more maybes, and stop the demolition Is it hope or fear? Look in the mirror Everything we built is coming down.â Juleka- âNo more hesitation, it's time we start to realize With all this separation, silence is still taking sides So use your voice, make a choice And tell me, are you standing with the crowd?â All six- âOh oh oh oh This is a declaration Oh oh oh oh Of a new generation It's now or never, we're in this together We'll fight through the highs and the lows No, we won't break, we're more than flesh and bone.â Then videos were played on the screen. The first were from the day that Marinette was expelled. It was footage from the school security cameras that they got when Markov, the ever helpful AI, hacked into them when the group asked for his help. He was more than happy to help slap some sense into Max.
It clearly showed Lila taking the test answers and putting them in Marinetteâs bag. It also showed her fake falling down the stairs and placing her necklace into Marinetteâs locker. The video moved on to showing all the times that her or Chloe would grab onto Adrien and would never let go no matter how many times he told them to. The video also showed it happening in front of teachers and they never did anything.
More videos showed Chloe bullying, destroying other art projects that were not her own, and even all the things she did that got most of the class akumatized when it happened on school grounds. They also got videos from Jagged Stone, Clara Nightingale, and every other celebrity that Lila lied about. All of them saying they had never met Lila in their lives. All six- âAyy, ayy, ayy ayy We say no more bad blood, no more bad blood Ayy, ayy, ayy ayy No way, they can't stop us, no, they can't stop us Ayy, ayy, ayy ayy We say no more bad blood, no more bad blood Ayy, ayy, ayy ayy No way, they can't stop us, no, they can't stop us.â
More videos and photos identified every bully in the school. Each and every single one of them being rich, or have influential parents that Damocles was afraid of, or both. The other students all gathered near the stage, showing their support to the band and hardly anyone supporting the staff or the bullies. Alya was still speechless over Lilaâs lies being revealed and what she had said to Marinette in âdefenseâ of Lila. Sabrina was also pale as she remembered everything that Chloe ever made her do, like stealing Marinetteâs diary and locking Juleka in the bathroom. Adrien- âHistory changes, but we lost the pages we wrote When you lose direction, can't see the reflection you know We came from the bottom then became the problem Now everything's out of control So hey, are you with me? Let's go!â
The students cheered and danced as the band all sang. They all knew that they were now going to finally be free of the bullies and liars that have been plaguing their lives for years. All six- âOh oh oh oh This is a declaration Oh oh oh oh Of a new generation It's now or never, we're in this together We'll fight through the highs and the lows No, we won't break, we're more than flesh and bone.â
The band finished with a bang, staring down the staff with cold eyes that said that they regretted nothing. Everyone they stared as were about as pale as a person could be.
After the dance, the Board of Education members brought everything that they had learned and seen to the rest of the board. Actions were immediately taken over the weekend. There was an intense investigation into the school and every member of the staff. Not that surprising, but Mendeleiev was the only staff member that never did anything wrong but was constantly blocked from doing anything by the other staff members.
Damocles was revealed to have been using money granted to the school for things like locker upgrades and new textbooks for his Owl gear instead. Plus he was also found out to be taking many bribes from parents of the bullies to not only keep them from being punished but to also increase their grades if they were low. He was fired immediately.
Bustier also faces a lot of consequences. When the investigation was made known, dozens of her old students came forward. It was revealed that her methods have caused all of them pain. She had spent years coddling the bullies and punishing the victims. Many ended up in therapy while the bullies usually ended up in jail for mostly violent crimes. She had her teaching license revoked and was blacklisted from ever teaching again.
The rest of the staff were all suspended until they finished courses about how to deal with bullies, how to properly run a classroom, as well as all of them having to pay finds.
All of the bullies were either expelled or suspended, depending on how horrible they were. A lot of them were having to repeat the grade because of how much their parents had spent to keep their grades up while they did hardly any work.Â
Alya, while being sued for the lies she posted on her blog, did not do anything else beyond cyber bullying of Marinette. But that did get her another lawsuit from her former best friendâs parents as well as being suspended from school for a week. Her parents forced her to delete the Ladyblog.
Chloe and Lila were, of course, the worst of them all.
Chloe ended up expelled and it was found out that she was also banded from every private school in the city because of how well her bullying habits were known. Her father was also facing multiple accusations of abuse of power because of how he handled problems that his daughter caused. Chloe could also hardly ever leave the hotel without being sneered or yelled at by literally everyone in Paris.
Lila was not only expelled, but also had giant finds placed on her after she was arrested for her months of truancy. Every celebrity she had ever lied about was also suing her for slander, defamation, and libel. It was also revealed that her mother had taken away her diplomatic immunity once she had learned about all the lies that her daughter told her and everyone around her. Her reputation as a liar has spread all throughout France and she will never be able to use her schemes ever again. Her mother makes sure to inform all her future teachers and principals about her lying and bullying habits.
All while this is happening, the new band clinks their glasses together as they cheers for a job well done. And if Adrien also happens to be kissed by a certain Greek lead singer, that is just a bonus for him.
Lie Lie Bye
Alya sighed as she looked at the Akuma shelters Tv. She wished she was out there. The footage would be so good for her blog. It was easily the strongest akuma ever. Lila had everyone go to the shelter though. She was worried about her getting out and targeting them. Alya wasn't too worried. They took everything but her clothes and hid them after locking her in that closet. Plus they were pretty sure she kept the pin in her purse so she could not transform. Alya took notice of the fact ladybug had yet to show up. Everyone was getting nervous untill Chloe shreeks "that is Ladybugs kwami" Alya sighs again thinking 'when did that brat get here she was not with the class.' There was a loud bang as the camera shook then fell facing were the reporter ran. The reporter and crew are shown trying to free Marinette from a fallen building. 'Ugh why is it always her. Bet she would not be helping her if she knew what that girl had done.' Alya thinks. The Tv switches to another live stream. The fight is long and hard. Chat manages to defeat the Akuma. Tikki purifies the butterfly befor passing out. Chat stops in front of the reporter "Ladybug is missing possibly hurt. I have to go"
"As many of you saw our fellow reporter trying to free one Marinette Dupain-Cheng rubble earlier today. What you did not see was the brave action taken by this young woman. Marinette was seen assisting many injured people who would most likely have died without first aid befor the incident. Marinette saw a little girl that had been separated from her mother and mother and dived to shield her from the colapsed building. Now to the reporter who found her"
The reporter from earlier in the day stands in front of a hospital. "The brave young woman you saw earlier today is undergoing a life saving surgery. The surgery is the first of it's kind. It is extremely risky. It has been determined that the surgery is the only way Miss Marinette Dupain-Cheng will survive. Marinette was injured protecting a young child barierly four years of age. I need a moment -"
The camera switches "Take your time Nadia. Marinette Dupain-Cheng is a wonderful, amazing, and kind girl. I speak from personal experience. Everyone here at Tvi has her best wishes in mind. The people she helped are being checked on in the hospital. The child has only scraps and bruises thanks to-" Alya cuts the tv off. Her phone started going crazy.
"Chill guys the cure will fix everything" Alya sends to her panicking freinds.
Chloe responds "Unterly redicoulous. Alya you had a Miraculous. You know they have timers. You should-" Alya does not bother reading the rest of Chloe's text. "Quit trying to make us feel bad for that lieing traitor." Alya sends back. Then her phone goes silent afterwards. Shrugging she goes to bed.
It had been a week and ladybug has not showed back up only her kwami. There had been a hand full of minor akumas. They did minimal damage. Paris thanks luck for that. Two weeks and a temporary ladybug shows up. Chat appears less but on time for every akuma attack. The Akuma class have become outcast because of their behavior around the subject of the hospitalized hero.
Week three
"Are you sure you are ready to return?" Kagami asks handing the earrings to Marinette. "Do I have a choice? We are in the Akuma class after all." Marinette responds while making a jester to Chloe. "Utterly ridiculous they try to stop Mayrue they nearly killed ladybug and countless others." Chloe snaps out. "Once we get Hawkmoth we can bring justice for our bug" Luka states continuing a melody. They had all become permanent heros with new costumes after Marinette was allowed visiters. Now that she is allowed to leave to hospital they decided to meet up at her place. Chat/Adrian was invited but he could not be around Marinette for very long without crying. He had gotten better as she got proper prosthetics but originally any time he saw her mechanical, technological parts he cried. Now though Marinette looked and felt almost completely normal if not for the massive amount of strength on her right side. He did explain why he could not do anything to stop Lila and how much he regretted it. Marinette understood and had forgiven him but he had not forgiven himself. Kagami had to be held back by both Luka and Chloe as to not hunt down Gabriel for having Lila spy on his own sun and the fact Lila was blackmailing Adrian by stating one sentence from her would have him under house arrest was enough to have Marinette seeing red. Though the crying boy snapped both the girls out of it.
Chat running by the bakery yelling Akuma was enough to snap Marinette out of her thoughts. Kagami and Marionette went one way while Chloe and Luka went another. They had learned quickly splitting up in groups offered advantages. However not long after heading out Ryuuko pulls Ladybug down within sight of the akuma but also within sight of Hawkmoth. "Inform the others I will keep him busy." Ladybug explains.
The others quickly take out the Akuma but Hawkmoth is quick to make his move too. He manages to stab ladybug through her right shoulder. Marinette felt the pain as one normally would but as soon as Hawkmoth turned his attention to her teammates she pushes forward ripping off his miraculous. Chat rushes forward knocking Gabriel out with his staff. Queen Bee holds chat back and Luka holds Kagami back. Ladybug falls back just barely able to cast the cure befor passing out. Adrian collects all the things related to the miraculous and turns them in. The team decide to reveal their identities as to clear Adrian name and help with the lawsuits Marinette is preparing.
"The broadcast is supposed to air 30 minutes after class starts." Adrian was nervous. This was the first time he were coming back to class since Hawkmoth was defeated. Gorilla and Abby were their fulltime bodyguards now.
"Yeah I'm just hoping the principal corporates with the police." Marinette responds. Adrian nods. They enter the classroom. Many of their classmates say harsh things about the so called traitors but none come close to them in fear of their bodyguards.
When it comes time for the broadcast Ms Bustier makes it a class activity because why not? Only for the class to stare in shock at the the back row of their class. Marinette, Adrian, and Chloe continue to ignore their class as they ask questions. Ms Bustier tries to scold them for "not taking part in class discussion"
"Why the hell should my client disclose any information to a bunch of incompetent self righteous idiots who nearly killed ladybug!" Chloe's bodyguard snaps. Nino looks horrified. Juleka covers her mouth in shock. The pen in Nathaniels hand snaps. Ms Bustier looks taken back "My students wou never-" the door slams open. "Alya Cesaire and Lila Rossi are to come with us impatiently. If you refuse we will take you by force. You have been deemed a threat to those around you" The man said. He clearly was not an officer but the man behind him is. Alya yells something about diplomatic immunity. "Alya Cesaire and Lila Rossi you are under arrest for attempted murder." The officer states while the man beside him just looks exasperated. "We only did it because we thought she was Mayrue! We only locked her in a closet!" Someone yells. "A closet in a building you knew the Akuma was targeting. If she had not of sent her Kwami through the air vents the Akuma would not have been stopped. If she had not gotten out dozens of people would have died including her. In case you have forgotten the miraculous cure did not fix anything that happened during that time because there was not a ladybug to case it so those people are still healing." The man states. "She looks perfectly fine now" Kim says. Chloe takes off part of Marinettes mechanical are and "yeet"s it at Kim's desk were it breaks in two. "Life saving risky surgery" is all Chloe says while picking up and returning Marinette hand. "As for the rest of you. You will give statements then head straight home unless told otherwise. Your parents are being contacted as we speak."
Nino, Nathaniel, Sabrina, and Juleka were allowed to stay. Ms. Bustier had to leave for the day. As it turned out the only one that had any idea what had happened was Nino who thought he had convinced his girlfriend not to act on what Lila said. Nino had no idea anything had happened that day until that moment. He believed Marinette stayed to help people because that is who she is. Ms. Bustier is fired as a teacher and brought up on charges of neglect as no teacher or adult for that matter could be that blindof all of what went on inform of them.
Nino gains temporary Miraculous. Nathaniel becomes Foxie. Juleka becomes Bunbun. They all continue to be heros for different reasons.
The classmates directly involved go though the justice system. Those that helped plan or just knew about it were sent to different schools for troubled teens.
Marichat May Day 9 prompt: Blanket
As per my usual fics, Marinette is 17, Adrien is 18. Nothing smutty, just goofs being goofy.
âââââââââââââ
It had been a long ass day.
5 am photo shoot, 6 am akuma attack, 6:30 am back to the photo shoot because they âcouldnât seem to capture his likeness todayâ, 7 am they gave up, 8:45 am rushed off to school, 12 pm another attack, 3 pm photo shoot.
Now finally, at 5 pm, he was back home and able to take a break. Much to Plaggâs disappointment however, Adrien didnât feel like sitting around at home.
âHow is it that you have so much energy? Iâm exhausted and Iâve been sitting in your bag all day.â
Adrien laughed at this remark, âIâve had to sit at home and do nothing for 14 years of my life, Iâve got time to make up havenât I?â
Plagg rolled his eyes. âTime that can be made up after I eat my well deserved camembert, go and shower or something. Listen to the, what was it you said? âThe model in youâ.â With that he flew into the smelly cupboard by his desk.
He did have a point. The hairspray from this afternoon made his hair stick up in odd angles. Todayâs theme had been, âPunk Rockâ for the Agreste, Jagged Stone collaboration. His father and Jagged teamed up for his new album debut to create a new clothing line of merchandise and stuff like that. Adrien hadnât really been paying much attention to that bit.
His attention was drawn towards his cute little classmate who, by personal invitation of Jagged Stone himself, had helped his father design Jaggedâs on stage looks.
Marinette was involved for the sole purpose of âa youth opinionâ which meant that she did most of the designing herself while Gabrielâs company did all the handy work by making all the garments. Of course she was supervised by Gabriel when it came to the concepts, but as his father had admitted over dinner, âShe didnât need much of my help. Audrey was right in saying that she has potential. Possibly, more potential than myself.â To which Adrien had beamed, proud of his princess.
By the time Adrien had finished in the shower, Plagg had completely emptied the stock of camembert for the next month. âWe need to start limiting you camembert intake. I can hear my bank account screaming.â Plagg burped âYouâre famous and rich, as long as you keep that up youâll be fine.â Adrien crossed his arms, âI might not be rich and famous forever you know. How old is Master Fu now, 190? You might not have unlimited camembert when I get into the 70s.â Plagg smirked. âYou will when you defeat Hawkmoth and people find out who you and Ladybug are. The pair of you will be rolling in riches for life.â Adrien shrugged. âMaybe Iâll refuse to take them, being the humble hero that I am.â Plagg frowned.
He laughed, âWell Plagg, how about we go check in on your favourite mouse hmm?â Plagg bolted out of the cupboard and shrieked âHurry up and transform Adrien.â He blinked. âWow Plagg, I didnât know you could actually like a person more than cheese.â Plagg crossed his little arms. âWell the sooner you and Marinette get together, the sooner Iâll have pastries with my cheese. Besides, you already know youâre my favourite stinky sock.â Adrienâs face contorted in gratitude at hearing his approval of Marinette, and slight disgust at being called a stinky sock. âThanks Plagg, Claws Out!â
The journey wasnât far. A hop, skip, and a jump later he landed on Marinetteâs balcony. He stomped on the floor to get her attention but he didnât need to. The second his hands touched the balcony railing, something heavy came crashing down, pinning him to the floor. He thought it might have been Marinette at first, but she wasnât wide enough to cover his entire outstretched form. He looked around and saw her peep out from behind her lounge chair with a great âSurprise!â He smiled
âHello there purrincess, fancy seeing you here.â She strode over to him and kneeled down behind his head. âI had a feeling that you might pawsibly show up.â
âSo, this is a nice blanket youâve chucked on me, did you make it?â She shook her head, âI bought it. Itâs a weighted blanket.â He laughed, âYes I could tell, Iâve never had one before but it feels heavy.â She stood and pulled the blanket off of him. âImagine if the news saw this. Parisâ superhero, defeated by a weighted blanket.â He propped himself on his elbows. âAnd Parisâ prettiest girl. Here we quote him.â And he stood to continue, despite her pink face. âI simply couldnât resist her charms.â He dramatically draped the back of his hand over his forehead. âI fell under her spell and she trapped me, Iâm sorry that Iâve let Paris down but I would do it again.â
Marinette seemed to have taken his word to heart, she threw the blanket back towards him with strength he never knew she was capable and he got hit square in the chest. He fell to the floor again. âEven see how, how her grace wounds me, a fatal blow to the chest.â She huffed and, it seemed despite herself, she smiled. âOh come on Marinette, just teasing. No need to get huffy with me.â She crossed her arms and turned.
He pulled the blanket off and snuck towards her while her back was turned. In one swift motion, he wrapped the blanket around her front and behind his back so the were both wrapped up. She gave a startled âWhat?â Before he fell backwards making her fall with him. She squeaked as they hit the floor, making sure she didnât get hurt of course.
His arms had remainder outside of the âpurritoâ so he placed them on her stomach. âChat Noir!â She huffed and squirmed under the blanket. He laughed. âHeavy, isnât it little lady.â She turned over inside so she could look at him, which made him also squirm because it was kinda ticklish. âFoul play kitty.â He ruffled her hair.
âSo, howâs the collaboration going? Gabriel Agresteâs little assistant, big big oppurtunity.â She beamed at him and went into full detail. How Jagged Stone had come to her house to ask, how Gabriel had an interview with her and how pleased he was to work with her, how she and Adrien worked on concepts after she took his measurements, how they played UMS after, how she and Gabriel went over the concepts and gave her tips. He of course knew all of this but she was so excited about it. âIâm proud of you little mouse, this is a really big achievement. Next thing you know, youâll be strolling down red carpets to your own fashion shows.â She flushed and thanked him.
âAnyways, how do you purrpose youâll get out of this one?â She smirked, âYou gave that away while I was turning,â he felt her fingers on either side of his ribs. âI didnât know cats were ticklish.â He tried his hardest not to laugh as she teasingly poked him. Then she went for it, he squirmed and giggled until he snapped back to his senses and rolled them over.
He grabbed both of Marinetteâs wrists and held them above her head with one hand. âPayback time princess.â And he started tickling her. She shrieked, squirmed, and kicked under him. âC-cat!â She tried to protest and bargain with him but to no avail. It wasnât until he heard a gaps from the trap door, that he stopped.
Who should intrude but the entire gang of secrets. Rose, Juleka, MylĂšne, Alix, and Alya all stared at their very suggestive position.
Chat Noir had her hands pinned above her head and was straddling her. Her hair was messy and her shirt slightly crumbled and exposing part of her stomach. His face went pink as he looked from a laughing Marinette, to her friends who were taking pictures and cooing at the pair of them.
Unbothered, Marinette turned to her friends and said âHelp me out girls! Heâs ticklish!â To which he was tackled by all five of them, he howled with laughter. âS-six against one! Thatâs unfair.â Then they scattered as Marinette flopped on him, blanket in hand, and wrapped him up. She sat on his back and held the opening of the blanket closed. âGood work girls. Catâs in the bag.â He turned his head to look at them, his cheek against the floor of the balcony. The six of them were high giving and shooting Marinette suspicious looks.
âSo Marinette, care to explain this?â Alix crossed her arms. Marinette gave her a quizzical look. âExplain what? Why me and Chat Noir are having a tickle fight on my balcony?â
Alya approached her. âWell to start, your lip gloss is smudged, your hair is a mess, your shirt is crumbled and we found you and Chat Noir in a very suggestive position when we came up.â
Marinette went slightly pink before recalling what had happened. Rose chirped âOh, thatâs so romantic.â And Juleka, who had become more outspoken with the help of her girlfriend, crossed her arms and smirked. âMaybe we should give them their alone time.â MylĂšne piped up. âWe do have to proceed with celebratory girls night though. After all, Jagged Stone and Gabriel Agreste, thatâs a crazy good achievement.â Chat Noir smiled, âThatâs what I was saying!â He panted slightly, recovering from the laughter.
âDo you want to stay cat?â Marinette asked. He looked up at her. âWell Iâd love to but I donât want to intrude on your celebration.â All at once the girls protested and encouraged him to stay, declaring that he wouldnât get in the way and that theyâd love to have him join in the celebration. He wouldnât fall for this though. He had the nagging feeling that the girls would turn Marinetteâs celebration party into a Chat Noir interview night, he didnât want the attention pulled away from his princess.
Marinette hopped off him and helped him go his feet again. He brushed dust off of his suit while Marinette held his hand. âNo seriously girls itâs alright. My Kwami is bound to be starving by now.â Marinette shot him a sharp look. âHow long have you been transformed?â He raised his hands in surrender. âNot long, not long. I transformed and came straight here. Besides he was really eager to see you Mari.â She gapped. âHe was? But heâs only worked with me once.â Chat chuckled. âNot sure, you must have left a good impression on him. Besides,â he leaned down to whisper in her ear, âhe says that the sooner we get together, the longer he gets to enjoy pastries with his cheese.â
He stood straight up and stared at her. To his surprise she wasnât flustered in the slightest, in fact she started to laugh. âWell then kitty,â and before he had time to think she pulled him back towards her so their noses brushed, âwe shouldnât keep him waiting.â His face went scarlet. He never thought a whisper could make his face burn. He considered teasing her back, but before he could straighten his expression, there was a cough beside them.
âSo should we leave and come back later or..â Alix stated. She already knew Adrienâs identity and was sure she would tease him about this later. He grinned seeing Marinetteâs face who was an identical shade of scarlet that his had been seconds before. âWell Iâd better be of then.â He wrapped an arm around Marinetteâs shoulder and bent over so his face was sideways in front of hers. He dropped his voice to a whisper, âWe can celebrate alone later.â Her face flooded with more colour than he thought possible and she buried her face in her hands.
He smiled and gave her a peck on the forehead before addressing her friends. âIt was lovely to see you all again, Iâll be taking my leave now. Enjoy your little party.â The he leapt onto the railing, gave a salute, and jumped way.
-
âKid, if you want to visit your princess undisturbed, then do it on a day where her friends wonât show up.â Adrien crossed his arms and smiled. âWell weâve agreed on your pastries at least.â Before the two could settle in, Adrienâs phone chimed. âOh Plagg, looks like we canât relax at home just yet.â Plagg groaned. âNot another akuma, Iâll go kill Hawkmoth myself if he doesnât stop taking away my free time.â
âNope, not Hawkmoth this time. Girls night has turned into a party and Adrien just got an invitation.â Plagg groaned again. âCanât we just skip this time?â Adrien shook his head and transformed for the fourth time that day and made his way back to the bakery, where he detransformed and saw his princess again.
âââââââââââ
Thatâs all for day 9. I think youâll notice that the prompts arenât the entire focus of my stories but they are a part of them. I like them better this way.
Thanks for reading!
In Your Dreams
This is a Lukanette soulmate fic. Lots of fluff, a lil confusion and a good portion of frustration. But itâs cute so whatever. Hope you enjoy! Havenât figured out how to use links yet but my Ao3 username is the same.
The background was bleary but the scene was all the same; scattered leaves floating through the air and clumping to the ground in odd piles with mud puddles here and there, the air was chilly and stuck to his lungs in little pricks but it felt nice.
In Lukaâs dreamsâ their dreams, he supposedâ autumn was nothing short of a safe, warm feeling despite the fact that it could send his body shivering and teeth chattering. Heâd be wearing gloves and his favorite jacket, jeans and thick boats but still get shudders going down his spine.
He always met her in his dreams, too, and this night was no different.
She wore a long, soft pink coat and black leggings, her midnight hair fluttered around her shoulders and under a black beanie with little dots on it and her eyesâ god, her eyes were a brilliant blue that never failed to make him restless.
His body always got so high strung around her, aching to pull her close and never let go, burning up from the inside out and screaming at him to just find her, why donât you find her already? We need her! We need her so bad that it hurts!
Luka wanted to; and he looked as well.
Heâs been looking since he was a little eight year old hiding bruises and busted knuckles and teary eyes but had such a gentle girl visiting him after he finally felt safe enough to close his eyes.
Heâs looked and looked and looked and looked.
She wasnât in his classes, wasnât in his school, didnât hang out where he hung out and didnât have any mutual friends.
He didnât even know her name.
So what was he supposed to do?
They didnât say much; in a dreamland like this, touch was so much more important but their short conversations told him enough.
Told him she lived in a bakery that her parents owed and that she loved them (and by god did he spend the next couple of weeks searching through every cafe or bakery or cake shop in Paris but never saw those blue eyes), that she wants to go into fashion, that she had bullies and insecurities but was the loveliest person he ever met and doesnât even realize it.
And everythingâ everythingâ about her made him fall in love so deep that he could feel it in his bones.
These dreams, he knew, connected people to their soulmate.
So how did she get so lucky ending up with her?
The nameless, beautiful girl who haunted his dreams. The talented, brilliant girl whose laugh rolled over him like a wave of joy. The brave girl who held so much power in her hands and never dared abuse it. The girl he so desperately needed to know how to holdâ how she would feel against his chest, in his arms. Not in their dreams, not when her warmth was shallow and her body melted against him almost like she was half-tangible and even less sure of herself.
They had a little place against the whirlwind of leaves that they always sat; a nice groove between two trees that always kept them dry and blocked the wind from biting at their cheeks.
Today he got their first, humming a melody into the nothingness around him and then there she was, washed in pink and black and with those freckles of hers, blue eyes watery as she sat down next to him and crawled into his lap without saying a word.
Luka held herâ because even if he wanted to do so much more than just sit here in silence, this is what she neededâ and continued to hum her song for the girl he fell in love with.
Some nights they do things that leave them waking up to a belly full of laughter and a smile so wide that their cheeks acheâ other times, after bad days, he wipes the tears away from her face and wishes he could be there to do the same when she wakes up or sheâll hold him to her and hum his song right back.
This was one of the bad days and he wonders what it is this time.
A bully? A fight with a friend?
âToday was really hard,â She sniffles and he startled, not used to her talking much but ran his fingers through her hair in acknowledgement and comfort to her words. âMy friends they⊠they all found their soulmates already so everyone was doing a paired up game thing butâ but I was all alone and I missed you so much. This girl, she keeps lying and telling everyone Iâm greedy for not being content with the people already in my lives. Sheâs making it seem like I donât appreciate my friends and that I think Iâm better than them but i donât! I love my friends, Iâm happy for themâ I just want my soulmate, too. Is⊠Is it selfish to just want you with me already?â
âItâs not selfish at all, my melody,â Luka gently kissed her forehead, lips feeling like theyâre brushing against nothing but solid air. âI want you already, too.â
Sheâs quiet for a moment before sitting upâ consequently straddling his lap as well, her hands clutching onto his jacket and a frown coming onto her features as he brushes away the leftover tears staining her cheeksâ and saying, âI want to know your name.â
âAre you sure?â Luka asks, not because he didnât want to share it but because they⊠just never talked about this before.
Never said âI miss youâ or anything of the sort, though both knew that they were missed from just one look into their soulmateâs eyes. She never told him her name, so he did the same. She didnât want to know at first and he didnât ask why.
So this, the talking, the questions, the fact that theyâre going to just be one step closer to finding each other, is a very unfamiliar feeling.
âIâm sure,â She looks him in the eyes and Luka practically melts. It should be illegal to be so beautiful, to look so cute even after she just got finished crying. âDo you, um, do you want to know mine?â
âYes.â The answer is instant.
She smiles in reply and he grins back, bringing her hand up to kiss every knuckle before saying, âIâm Luka Couffaine.â
âCouffaine?â Her smile freezes, jaw going slack, and her eyes widen. âWait, like, Juleka Couffaine?â
He blinks, âYou know my sister?â
âSister?â She shrieks, then laughs, her hands gently grabbing his face and planting a kiss onto his forehead. âI know who you are!â
âWhaââ
And then she disappears.
Sheâs awake and heâs stuck there and she knows his name but he doesn't know hers and heâs never been more frustrated in all his life before.
Luka wakes up and screams into his pillow, then a couple seconds later the partition separating his and Jules sides of the room is thrown open and his stupid sister is throwing a brush at him.Â
âShut up, idiot!â Juleka hisses, wobbling on her legs as she groggily stumbles back to her bed. âI was having a serious conversation with my baby flower.â Her âbaby flowerâ was Rose, her soulmate, and theyâve been annoyingly in love since they met in second grade.
His rolls over and crawls back under her covers, shoving his pillow over his head and swearing a couple times before falling silent. Luka glares at her before glaring up at the ceiling, the morning lift drifting in through the window and the familiar, comforting sound of the waves splashing against the Liberty is enough to remind him that the real peace is being with her.
Not here, not in this bed, not with his sisterâ but in her arms, seeing her smile, hearing her laugh.
Grunting slightly as he sits up and stands out of bed, Luka gets dressed and opens to hatch to get out of his room, his guitar on his back as he grouchily goes into their kitchen and makes himself breakfast.
Juleka and his mom notice his grumpiness and, like true Couffaineâs, decide to embrace the chaos and be grumpy right back.
Like always, Luka walks with his sister to school after meeting up with Rose in their regular route but this time heâs silent and staring at the ground with pure annoyance ripping through him like a burning coal.
Why couldnât he just know her name?
Was that too much to ask?
âHey,â Juleka nudges his quietly as the school comes into sight, kids scattered all around. It was her first year but Lukaâs last year in Lycee and while he was familiar with the school, he still kept a map in his bag in case his sister got lost and needed help. âYou okay, loser? Youâre acting strange.â
âLast night my soulmate learned my name,â He grumbled out the words. âAnd, apparently, she knows me as your older brother so she knows you but I didnât get her name.â
âPoor Lukey,â She chuckles, making Rose pout up at her for being mean. âBut, like⊠if I know her, she probably goes to our school. You get that, right?â
Luka just looks at her blankly.
âWhat?â
âOur school, dumbass. She goes to our school. My only friends who know I have a brother go here.â
Luka blinks. Once, twice. Three times.
Then heâs snapping his head up to the students around him and looking around, trying to pinpoint anyone that even resembles his melody as Juleka laughs at how frantic he turned and Rose cooed at how adorable it is that he is so excited.
Excited?
Nervous?
Feeling like heâs gonna throw up?
Feeling his heart pound in his chest?
Check, check, check, and check.
Thenâ then he catches the sight of midnight hair in the corner of his eye and whips around fast enough that his neck kinda protests at his movement but he just doesnât care.
Because itâs her.
Sheâs wearing a soft blue dress because unlike in their dream itâs a little warm out and she has a black sweater cardigan that goes down to her knees and looks so comfortable and sheâs wearing matching flats and her hair is in two pigtails and her eyes are bright and happy and so blue and heâs going to drown.
And god, she looks prettier than he couldâve imagined.
Is his heart supposed to beat this fast?
She has the same happy smile and same giggle as she sees him looking and heâs too shell shocked to do anything but watch as his soulmate bounds up to him and holds out a box of macaroons the color of his jacket.
âHi,â She tucks a loose strand of hair behind her ear and shyly meets his eyes. âIâm Marinette Dupain-Cheng and um, Iâm sorry I couldnât tell you that before I woke up.â
âItâs really you,â Luka breathes out, hand raising to gently cup her cheek. Both of them give a low gasp at the wave of warmth and energy that washes over them as soon as their skin meets. Marinette leans into his touch with a soft smile and closes her eyes. âYouâre really here.â
âWhere else would I be?â She kisses the inside of his palm. âIn your dreams?â
Luka laughs before pulling her into a bone-crushing hug, the poor box of macaroons falling to the ground but heâs too happy at the moment to feel guilty.
âGod,â He breathes in her scentâ chocolate chip cookies and the faint smell of vanilla. âIâve been waiting for this.â
Sheâs tangible; right here, right now, in his arms sheâs tangible.
Her arms wrap around him, too, and he starts to cry because every nightmare she helped him escape, every problem, every thought wearing on him too heavy that she soothed with the sound of his laugh just melts.
Nothing can compare to this.
Sheâs real and sheâs his and they fit together perfectly.
He doesnât think heâll ever let her go.
Soulmates.
Thatâs the term people use, right?
It suddenly doesnât feel descriptive enough.
âLuka,â Marinette says, pulling back enough that when she looks him in the eyes she can be the one to wipe away his tears instead of the other way around. âAre you okay?â
âPerfect,â He pulls her closer, head falling to nuzzle into her neck. âIâm perfect.â
There were people scattered around them, kids from their school and friends and other couples but they didnât care. They were together and there were no leaves or mud puddles or a groove between two trees, there was no wispy wind and half-tangible hugs and voices sometimes too soft to hear.
They were together, they didnât have to miss each other or be alone.
And there wasnât a single selfish thing about that.
We Belong Together ~ Chapter 1
Hey! Just wanted to say that I finally posted my second Miraculous Ladybug fanfic and I am so excited for you all to read it! Will be updated on here and on AO3 :)
We Belong Together - AO3
Summary: It has been years since Marinette Dupain-Cheng last saw Adrien Agreste when he broke her heart. Since then she has moved on and continues to pursue her dreams in becoming a renowned fashion designer. Adrien hasn't forgotten the girl who had stolen his heart, but never got the chance to see her after graduation. But when he decides to secretly have a career in singing and has an underground band, that's when he spots Marinette. The girl who got away in the crowd. Can they both see what went wrong in the past to make it right? Or will they ignore their feelings and completely move on?
Marinette Dupain-Cheng sighs in relief when she finished up her sketches for her senior project. While she still had to make the garnet, it was much easier than designing it. Putting it all together was the fun and best part.
She checks her phone, realizing she had a few missed texts from her friends and one missed call from Alya. Checking the time, Alya should be out from her own class so she decided to call back her best friend.
After a few rings, Alya answered. âHey girl! By time you answered one of us.â
Marinette chuckles. âSorry about that. I finally came up with a great concept for my senior project and I had to finish it before the ideas left my head. But Iâm finally done with the first part.â
âOh great! So weâre going out tonight?â
âI did not say that!â
âGirl come on! Weâre seniors in college and not once do I ever recall you going out to the clubs or getting drinks with us. While I respect you for committing to the internships and your classes, itâs high time you let loose and have some fun. You wonât be twenty one forever you know?â
Marinette knew that her best friend was right. Her goal was to always become a fashion designer and while she loved what she did, it was definitely time consuming. It was a miracle she even still had friends who understood her busy schedule and made their plans based on her availability.
âI mean, I donât have classes tomorrow so I guess I can afford to stay up-â
âYes!â Alya yells and Marinette jumped from her friends loud voice. âOkay, sorry! Iâll text you the details and wear something...with a rockstar vibe.â
âRockstar vibe?â Marinette questioned. âAre we going to a Jagged Stone concert?â
âOh youâll see.â Is all Alya said before she hung up.
Marinette was confused but decided not to question it any further or else she would regret accepting the invitation.
XX
A few hours later, nightfall had fallen over Paris. Marinette ate some dinner since she knew that if Alya and the girls were coming over, there would be some pre-gaming happening before they left to whatever place they had in mind.
Her small pet dog, Tikki, laid comfortably on her Ladybug bed in the living room. Marinette walks over and leaves out a bowl of food for Tikki and refilled her water bowl as well. Tikki already ate but it was just in case she came home late and didnât wake up on time the next morning to feed her dog.
The door bell rings and Tikki lifts up her head upon smelling familiar people nearby. Marinette puts her dirty dishes in the sink and walks over to open the door.
Alya, Juleka, Rose, and Mylene walk in. All of them wearing concert attire but matched it to their personalities.
âWow you girls look great!â Marinette exclaims, closing the door.
âAnd you look good, Marinette.â Says Rose. âI love the jacket.â
âOh this old thing?â She tugs on her jacket. âItâs just something Iâve had in high school.â
Alya walks over to Marinetteâs secret stash of liquor, as Mylene plays with Tikki.
âHowâs Ivan?â Marinette asked Mylene.
Mylene smiles when her boyfriends name was mentioned. âHeâs doing great! Youâll actually see him tonight.â
âOh? Is he going to meet us there?â Marinette wonders and before Mylene can reply, Alya hands her a shot glass and she walks over to join everyone by the counter.
Marinette chuckles. âOkay can one of you tell me what weâre doing tonight?â
âUnderground concert,â says Alya and hands her a glass. âNino told me about this band he has been producing songs for and he invited us to go check out them out. Apparently theyâre really popular in the alternative scene.â
âOh sounds like fun.â Marinette and the girls surround her countertop and take a shot. The liquid burning her throat a little but she ignores the feeling.
Rose nods excitedly. âIt will be! Alya told me that some of the band members went to school with us!â
Now Marinette was even more curious. âLike who?â
Alya clears her throat. âLets not ruin the surprise!â She says and changes the subject. âMari, are you still seeing the guy from the visual arts department?â Mylene asks Marinette.
Marinette has been going out with a boy from the visual arts department as of recent. While she enjoys his company, she isnât really into him. It just didnât feel right, but she hasnât had the chance to tell him they were better off as friends.
âI am but weâre not official,â she assures her friends. âIâm not really looking for anything serious anyways.â
âSo if a guy comes up to you and asks you to go home with him, youâll take it?â Alya wonders and Marinette thinks about it.
âIâll consider it.â
Alya accepted her answer and they took one last shot before leaving to the club.
XX
The club was in a weird place in the city that was populated with sleazy clubs and teenagers who looked for a good time where they shouldnât be looking.
The girls go through a dark alley and Alya reads the instructions that her mystery man gave her. She stands in front of a black door and knocks four times.
A minute passes and the door opens, revealing a huge bodyguard wearing a white mask.
âAlya?â He questioned.
Alya nods. âYup! Carapace told me to come through the back for VIP.â
The bodyguard looks at the girls, stepping aside to let them in. They each held one anotherâs hand so they wouldnât lose each other as they entered.
The place smelled like cigarettes and hard liquor, a smell that Marinette wasnât to fond of but can tolerate. They make it to a small section of the upper floor that had a great viewing of the whole dance floor and stage. The girls sat down and Alya ordered them all a round of drinks.
âCarapace? I thought it was Nino who invited us?â Rose asks Alya.
Alya shakes her head. âNo itâs just a nickname that they go by here. You see, majority of these artists are undercover celebrities who like to play music by their own terms or just like to escape the crazy world that they live in. So they make up an alternative identity so they can party or rock out without worrying about the paparazzi.â
âWait, then how will you know which one is Nino?â Marinette asks. While the concept was cool, she wasnât sure if she would like to hide her identity from the people she was close to. Unless she really need to.
Alya shows her a picture of Nino wearing a green mask. She then shows the others and they start to be on the look out for him.
âWell I hope he passes by so we can thank him for this cool VIP experience.â Rose says excitedly. âAnd itâs been awhile since Iâve seen him so we have to catch up.â
Marinette smiles and their drinks arrive. They give a quick cheers before they start drinking.
After twenty minutes of talking and joking around with one another, the lights in their section went down and so did the ones on the stage. The crowd yells out in excitement and the girls get closer to the recliner to watch the show.
Marinette can see a group of boys walk out to the stage and the start of the guitar. The lights turned back on and everyone went crazy over the band on stage.
She can see the name of the band written on the drums, Cataclysm.
What an unusual name, she tells herself as the lead singer begins to sing. He was a fantastic singer and Marinette closes her eyes as she vibes with the loud music playing.
Her friends were clearly enjoying themselves and were maybe a little bit too loud compared to the other attendees who were watching the show in the first floor. She followed along with her friends, also dancing and laughing.
Marinette looked down again at the stage, the band finishing up their first song. The lights were finally on the lead singer and when her eyes stared directly at him, she froze.
XX
(An hour before the show)
Chat Noir, or Adrien Agreste as his most of his close friends and family knew him by, fixing up his black eyeliner and mask. His bandmates were doing the same or sitting on the couch before it was time for them to go up.
Nino comes in and was beaming with excitement.
âWhatâs up with you?â Jared asks, fixing the strings of his guitar.
âOh nothing just that Alya and the girls are finally coming to check out the band!â Nino announced.
âYeah, Mylene texted me that she was here.â Ivan brought up.
Kim was stretching. âAny of them single?â
âKim, these are our friends from school. Besides arenât you still seeing Ondine?â Max brings up.
Kim shrugs. âItâs complicated.â
âActually there is one girl who is single.â Nino answers Kimâs question. âMaybe big shot over here can finally get his first girlfriend.â He points at Adrien who was resting comfortably on the couch.
Adrien opens one eye and looks at Nino. âI can get a girlfriend if I wanted to.â He closes his eyes again and stretches his arms out as he sat up. âBut I told you. If Iâm getting a girlfriend I want them to fall for me, not Adrien Agreste.â
While he loved his life as the son of famous renowned fashion designer, Gabriel Agreste, it came with consequences.
The main one would be how he made friends. While he was home schooled for a good portion of his early childhood, he was able to attend a real school when he turned fourteen. It was a private school, but to him it was something. But based on how people treated him, he knew he was getting a weird taste of privilege that he didnât want.
It started with how guys would want to come over only to his place and never bothered to invite him to theirs. Sure his father was strict, but he wouldâve allowed it as long as it didnât interfere with his studies. But no his friends at the time wouldnât bother.
Then every holiday his locker would be packed with constant love letters or presents girls would leave for him. Not to be rude he accepted the small tokens of appreciation but he never liked it.
He hated this and when he would meet up with his friend Chloe, she convinced him to transfer to her school. It was closer to his place and not as crowded as his private school.
âI mean youâll still be surrounded by peasants, but youâll be with me Adrikins!â
And after one long and difficult hour of convincing his father, he agreed to let him transfer to College Francoise Dupont. There he met probably his closet friends and met the love of his life...
âAdrien? Oh Adrien,â Nino says his name in a song like tune. âTime for the show, letâs go.â
Adrien gets up and grabs his guitar. âLetâs do this guys!â
His friends chuckle and they do their backstage circle before they get on stage. While they usually start off the show with one of their classics, they decided to start slow before playing their more hardcore stuff.
As Adrien, he never could be on stage with people constantly watching his every move and wonder how he will fuck up his family name. But as Chat Noir, he belonged to no one. He wasnât the son of a famous fashion designer. He wouldnât be in the tabloids the next day. No instead he got to play till his hearts content and go home.
That was until he looked up at the balcony where a group of girls were cheering them on.
And thatâs when he spotted her. Even though his eyes were slightly blinded by the bright lights, he can still see her raven black hair that can be mistaken for a dark blue. She blue bell eyes that he can stare at all day. There was only one girl who can ever have him in a trance such as this.
Marinette Dupain-Cheng.
The girl who stole his heart and the one who will forever be known as his first love.
He continued to sing into the microphone, not removing his eyes from her. âJust another day started out like any other. Just another girl who took my breath away.â He sang, continuing on with his performance. The crowd loved it, girls getting closer to the stage to get his and the others attention.
But Adrien can only stare at one girl.
The one who got away.
Marinette glanced over her shoulder for what had to have been the thirtieth time. Outside her bedroom window, stormclouds were gathering over the glittering skyline. What if the weather was too dangerous for Chat to come visit tonight? Or what if heâd gotten held up with something in his civilian life? That happened too often, though he probably spent every moment he could with her now. It was oddly comforting that he wanted to be around her so much, even if it was just keeping her company while she worked on homework, or deciphered the grimoire, or let the kwamis out for some fresh air.
Despite seeing him practically every day, she still managed to miss him.
âHeâll be here,â Tikki said from her perch on top of Marinetteâs mannequin. Â
She sighed. âThat obvious, huh?â
âYou almost pinned the collar to my leg.â
Oops. As it was, the sheâd bunched up the collar of Julekaâs dress all wrong. Sheâd have to remove the pins and smooth it out again unless she wanted the fabric to pucker in her sewing machine.
âSorry Tikki. I donât know whatâs gotten into me lately.â
Sheâd survived with only seeing her partner during akuma attacks and patrols for two years now. But in these few weeks since sheâd accidentally revealed her identity, sheâd come to rely on him more than ever. Maybe too much, honestly. She had no idea what civilian responsibilities he was carrying on his own.
Well, she had a guess, but that was better left unsaid until she knew for sure.
You could always ask him, she thought for the thousandth time, but banished it just as quickly. Â
A tap at her window made her jump and prick her finger. Even startled as she was, guilty relief flooded her. Tikki was right; heâd shown up anyway.
She sucked on the sore spot as she ran to open the window. âYou know Papa would let you in the front door.â
âBut then Iâd miss getting to see you in your natural habitat, Bugaboo.â Chat Noir grinned as he swung himself in. Luckily it hadnât started raining yet. She didnât want her room smelling like wet cat.
âMy ânatural habitatâ has too many pins on the floor.â She scrambled to pick them up before he ended up stepping on one. His boots would have protected his feet, but he was polite enough to remove them every time he entered, even though sheâd never asked him to.
At least, sheâd never asked Chat. That was one of her flimsier evidences for his identity, though.
âI like it. Itâs cozy.â He plopped down on her chaise, which heâd claimed for himself weeks ago. Not that she minded. She kept that space clear for him, even when fabric and thread was piled on every other surface.
âWhat about your room? Is it this âcozyâ?â She asked. It was an innocent question, not overtly fishing for information on his identity. Â
âNah. Iâm not allowed to⊠I have to keep things tidy.â He frowned.
Another piece towards her theory. Sheâd add that note in the conspiracy page sheâd webbed out in her diary.
âOh! Iâve got something for you!â He untied a plastic bag that heâd hung from his belt. âIt, um, might be a little bit squished, but hopefully itâll still taste good.â
Her eyes widened at the small box of cupcakes he presented to her. The frosting was pale pink, with wobbly dots of chocolate arranged to look like the spots on her yo-yo. They were a little smushed, but still in remarkably good shape for having traveled with Chat across Paris. She popped off the boxâs translucent lid, giggling at the tiny pigeon stickers at each corner of it.
He winced. âThey look terrible, donât they? I know Iâm not as good at baking as you, but Mr. Ramier helped so I thought they might be kind of okayââ
âTheyâre perfect.â She wrapped her arms around him in a tight hug. âYou didnât have to make me anything, Kitty.â
âI know, but I wanted to. Since youâre always sharing your delicious pastries with meââ
âMaman and Papa make most of those.â
ââand because you deserve something nice, and you refuse to let me buy you anything.â
Her face warmed. Before sheâd put that rule into place, heâd tried to bring her a present every time he visited. Considering he visited a lot, that would have taken a toll on his wallet.
Unless money wasnât an issue for him, of course.
Stop that, she told herself. She could hardly deny her feelings for Chat anymore, but she couldnât keep muddling them with feelings for her first crush. Not until she knew for sure they were one and the same.
Now if only she could stop being a coward and ask him.
âW-well thanks,â she said quickly. âYou better help me eat them.â
He winked. âCan do, Princess.â
Before they dug in, she bundled her fabric away and pulled out the Miracle Box from its hiding place next to her sewing machine. It was the perfect spot, now that sheâd learned how disguise it as an extra sewing box rather than that Ladybug-themed egg-thing. Sheâd never have been able to keep that a secret.
âWhoâs coming out today?â Chat asked. Heâd sprawled on the chaise with his hands propping up his chin. Tikki had nestled herself in his hair, eating half of a cupcake and scattering crumbs in his golden locks. Â
The kwami would probably enjoy Chat Noirâs visits more if Plagg was allowed out for her to play with. Plagg would devour all of her parentsâ cheese-filled pastries, and Marinette⊠Marinette would have to look into her partnerâs unmasked eyes and admit she was still half in love with someone else.
Unless she wasnât. But what if she was? A few hardly-lucid dreams and wishful evidence werenât proof that Chat Noir was actually Adrien.
She shook her head. That train of thought could do donuts in her brain if she didnât pull the brakes.
âI was thinking Kaalki and Pollen.â She wasnât up for any of the rowdier kwamis tonight, even with Chat helping her âbabysit.â Plus the two of them liked sweets; theyâd appreciate the cupcakes.
She pulled out the hair comb and glasses, and Chat Noir excitedly put them both on. The miraculouses somehow managed to make him look both dorkier and cuter at the same time. Maybe that was just because he was at his cutest when he was being a dork.
Tikki smiled wide as Kaalki and Pollen appeared in flashes of light.
âOooh, someone glorious and famous.â Kaalki flew in circles around Chat Noirâs head, nudging a few of his tufts of hair with her hoof. âYou would make a fine holder. Plagg wouldnât be up for a trade, would he?â
Chat blushed beneath his mask, making Marinette giggle.
âUh, sorry, but Iâm going to have to say neigh to that.â
Pollen covered her laugh in her hands. Kaalki just harumphed.
âFine. Your sense of humor is far too unpolished anyway.â
Glorious and famous. Â Kaalki might have been talking about his status as a hero of Paris, but Marinette still made note.
They fell into their usual routine, Chat Noir entertaining the kwamis by answering their questions about the world while Marinette went back to work. The steady conversation was a better backdrop than any white noise or instrumental music playlists. She only wished she had time to join them. Unfortunately, sheâd put off this dress for too long. She only had a week before Juleka wa supposed to model the floral sundress at the schoolâs ameteur fashion show, and who knew how many akumas would strike between now and then?
Marinette was just getting ready to transfer the fabric from the mannequin to her sewing desk when she heard Pollen ask Chat, âHow are things between you and your Princess?â
The pins slipped from her hand. She barely noticed a couple pricking into her slipper.
Chat had sat up straight since the last time sheâd glanced back, and the nervous yet hopeful smile on his face threatened to melt her.
âUhâwellâhow are things between us, Marinette?â
Her mouth briefly forgot how to make words. She knew what Pollen meant; Tikki and her gossiped about Marinetteâs love life all the time. Maybe she shouldnât have let the bee kwami out tonight.
âWell, um.â Her fingers twitched nervously against the fabric of her pajama pants. Say something, Marinette! âWeâreâweâre best friends, right?â
She wanted to shove her fist in her mouth. How many times had she died inside over Adrien calling her just a friend? And no matter who Chat was beneath the mask, she didn't want to obscure her true feelings for him.
But his face still lit up even brighter. âIâm your best friend?â
âOf course, Kitty.â She sat on the chaise, scooting close to him. Probably closer than even a best friend should, but it wasnât like Chat was shy about personal space. âI donât let just anyone climb in my window, you know.â
âAwwww,â Pollen sighed while crossing her hands over her heart. Tikki gave Marinette a knowing look, which she pretended to ignore.
Then Marinette shoved a cupcake into her mouth before she could say anything more incriminating.
Chat blinked. She wondered if he was impressedâthat cupcake had been about the size of her fist. Guess she couldâve fit her fist in her mouth after all, but at least the cupcake tasted better.
âThesh ah really gooâ.âÂ
...Well, she said she wouldnât say anything incriminating. Sheâd never ruled out saying anything stupid.
Chat Noir laughed. âFor a Princess, your table manners could use some work.â
She swallowed about half the cupcake. It was really good, thick and chocolatey with a hint of strawberry. It probably wouldâve tasted better if sheâd taken the time to savor it. But the loss was worth it for the look on his face.
âNo table manners allowed. Only vibes.â
He blinked before bursting out a real laugh, fuller and brighter than the one before. One that she was sounded strikingly familiarâespecially with the backdrop of rain hitting the window behind them.
That truth cracked like a flash of lightning.
âYouâve been hanging out with Nino too much.â He wiped a claw under his eye, flicking away a few drops of water.
It was him. It had to be him. Sheâd recognize that laugh anywhere.
âPrincess, whatâs a âvibeâ?â Pollen asked.
âI believe itâs like a, like a feeling,â Kaalki answered over the sound of Chatâs cackle. âPerhaps thereâs a kwami of vibes? Or would that fall under Duusuâs domain?â
Marinette was too stunned from the whiplash of Adrienâs laugh and Pollenâs question to actually answer.
âSort of,â Tikki interjected instead. âMarinette and her friends sometimes talk about vibes like theyâre feelings, but they also use âvibingâ as an action. Iâm still not really sure what that means though. Maybe we should Google it?â
When she sat on Marinetteâs computer keyboard, the desktop collage of Adrienâs photos flashed on the screen. Marinette almost lunged for her kwami in horror, but Chat was still laughing too hard to notice.
âPrincessâwhatâs aâwhatâs a vibe?â He got out between tears.
Then he actually doubled over far enough that he toppled off the chaiseâwhich made Marinette laugh so hard she choked on her remaining cupcake.Â
Adrien was dressed in a catsuit, literally rolling on the floor laughing. That was more hilarious than even the kwamis trying to understand teenage slang.
âMarinette? Are you okay?â Tikki hovered up to her face, her blue eyes filling Marinetteâs vision.
She giggled again, coughing out crumbs stuck in the back of her throat.
âIâmâIâm straight up vibing!â Â
With that, she too rolled off the chaise and fell on top of Chat. He yelped before giggling again, wrapping his arms around her.
âSpare vibes, Princess? Spare vibes for a poor vibeless kitty?â
âAck!â She flailed as he tickled her sides. âNooo, stop! Youâre stealing all the vibes!â Â
âWere vibes in the cupcakes?â Pollen whispered to Kaalki, prompting another giggling fit from both Marinette and Chat Noir.
âMaybe itâs a secret,â Kaalki replied. âLike a code. For when the two of them want to do⊠whatever this is.â She waved a hoof towards where they were tangled together.
It was only then that Marinette realized what this would look like. And the fact that the floor wasnât that thick, and her parents might hear something any minute.
Not to mention the fact that Adrien was tickling her.
âI, um, need some air!â She burst, scrambling off from his chest.
âHuh? Wait, Marinette!âÂ
He reached out a hand, but sheâd already bolted up her ladder and shoved open her skylight.
Which, of course, let rain dump right into her bed. Oops.
âWhat was in those cupcakes?â She mumbled, climbing onto her balcony shutting the skylight behind her. Â
She pressed her palms to her cheeks, trying to cool the heat there. The rain wasnât doing a quick enough job of it, even though the spring shower chilled the rest of her to the bone. Had she flushed her last brain cell down the toilet? What was she thinking?Â
Of course, she was stupid with Chat Noir all the time. Theyâd challenged each other to handstand contests, dared each other to eat spicy peppers, even one-upped each otherâs Hawkmoth impersonations. Chat might be Adrien, but that meant Adrien was still Chat. Knowing his identity didnât change the fact that he was her ridiculous partner.
âMarinette?â A blond head poked out of the skylight. The glasses were askew on his nose; the golden hair comb had almost fallen out. âIf you want me to leave, I can. You donât need to stay out here and get soaked.â
It was a bit late for that. Even though she had ducked under the awning, the rain was blowing practically sideways. She wrapped her arms around herself and shivered. Why had she worn her pajama tank? Not that it mattered; Adrien had seen her in it before. She could hardly embarrass herself more than she already had.
âN-no, of course not! I just thought, we were being kind of loud, and itâs late, and since you didnât come in through the front doorâŠâ
Chat winced as he climbed out onto the balcony to stand beside her. Just a few seconds out in the rain, and his hair was already plastered to his forehead in a wet mop. The glasses were too splattered to see through; he removed them and the bee miraculous with his free hand and put them in his pocket.
As for his other hand...
âWell, at least use this. It might work a little better than your awning.â
...He popped open the umbrella. Black and slick with rain, it brought her back to a moment two years ago. Different green eyes, but the same soft gaze. Â
âOf course youâd grab that one.â She couldnât help smiling. It was the only umbrella she owned, and it had been sitting by her desk, but it still felt ironic. Â
She reached for the umbrella, but Chat pulled it back at the last moment.
âWait, itâs broken, isnât it?â He squinted up at its undersideâ
Just in time for it to snap shut on his head.
A laugh burst from her like a crack of thunder. âCome on, AdâKitty. Itâs drier over here.âÂ
He disentangled himself from the umbrella and followed her to the corner of the balcony, where the rain hadnât quite snuck under the awning. Â
âWhy do you have this old thing anyway? Looks like a piece of junk.â He twirled the now-closed umbrella like his baton, but fumbled it under her folding chair, where it promptly exploded open. Chat scowled. âOh, I see how it is. When I want you to open, you only know how to stay shut. But when youâre out on your own youâre ready to party.â
The umbrella rolled slightly as it began to fill with rainwater. Marinette laughed as Chat continued to glare at it.
âBe nice to that umbrella. Someone very special gave it to me.â She stretched out her legs, letting her heels dangle in the puddles in the brick. Her fairy lights reflected in the water, casting the two of them in an ethereal glow.
âOh, really? Should I be jealous?â He playfully wrapped an arm around her back. Every place he touched burned, even though she knew the gesture was just part of his jealous act.
She hummed as she leaned her head on his shoulder.
âNo, I donât think so.â
â...Oh.â She felt him deflate, though he infused his voice with fake confidence. âWell, good. Iâm a pretty territorial cat, you know.â
Gently, she tugged on the bell at his neck until he met her eyes.
âYou donât need to be jealous,â she clarified, âbecause I know heâs you.â
Chat NoirâsâAdrienâsâeyes widened. But then his gaze softened, and he shook his head with a smile.
âI shouldâve known youâd figure me out. Youâve already done it once in your sleep.â
She blinked. âI did? Andâand Iâm right?â
Sheâd been sure, but it was still another thing to hear him admit it.
And it was yet another thing to hear âclaws in.â To see green lightning crackle over over him, unmasking Adrienâs tender face.
The electricity had barely faded before she flung her arms around him.
âWoah!â He laughed before hugging her back just as tightly. âYou know, I think I should be jealous. You never hugged Chat Noir like this.â
âThatâs not true. I definitely hugged you tighter after we fought the Scrambler last week.â
âHuh. I guess it just doesnât have the same effect when Iâm covered in egg whites. Or maybe itâs because the suit isnât in the way now.â
She was all too aware of that. His bare hands were warm on her back, even through her pajama shirt. Her face was tucked in the crook of his neck, where she could drink in his scent unobscured by the leather suit.
âSniffing me again?â He wiggled his eyebrows.
She flushed at being caught. Adrien her friend from school might not have called her out for it, but Adrien her partner of two years would. Well, two could play at that game.
âOh, like you havenât sniffed me before. Besides, I canât help it that you smell radiant, carefree, and dreamy.â
He looked mortified. âThat commercial was over a year ago! Even Wayhem forgot about that!â
âWayhem probably didnât watch it two hundred and fifty-five times.â
â...I canât tell which one of us should be more embarrassed about that.â
âProbably me,â she admitted. âWhat was your point again?â
âEither we both get sniffing rights, or neither of us does. Thatâs fair.â
She laughed, nuzzling deeper into his neck. âFine. But I probably just smell wet.â
He buried his nose in her hair and breathed in, tickling the part of her hair. âDonât worry. You smell perfect.â
Maybe it shouldâve been an awkward compliment, but he still found herself giddy over it.
âThank you. You smell like cheese.â
âHey!â He pouted. âWhat happened to âradiant, carefree, and dreamyâ?â
âShe gave you a compliment, kid. Whatâs more radiant than cheese?â Plagg asked.
Marinette nearly screamed. She shouldâve realized he was there, but heâd blended into the shadows in the wake of Adrienâs detransformation.
âPlagg!â Adrien hissed. âGo inside with Tikki. Weâre having a moment.â
âYeah, whatever.â Plagg dismissively waved a paw. âYou got any cheese in there for me, Pigtails?â
âUhâTikki can get you some cheese-filled pastries from downstairs. Donât let my parents see you.â
âTheyâll never know I was there. Unless they notice a plate of those delicious treats is gone.â The kwami grinned and dove through the floor. Â
Well, that was about all she could expect. Hopefully Tikki could keep him under control. If not, Marinette might have to fake a rat infestation.
âSorry about him.â Adrien sighed. âHeâs always like that.â
âCouldâve been worse. Imagine if you were stuck with Xuppu or Roarr as your kwami.â
He laughed. âPretty sure my father would have grounded me for life if he saw the mess. Or he wouldâve found out my identity. Probably both.â
Chat had been there the one day Marinette decided to let the monkey and tiger kwamis outside of the miracle box. Sheâd actually had to transform and use her Lucky Charm just to undo the damage. Â
âSpeaking of which⊠I knew it was only a matter of time, but how did you learn my identity?â He asked. âIf I need to be more carefulâŠâ
She shook her head. âItâs not that. I⊠I donât know if I can even explain it. At first I thought it was just wishful thinking. Ever since we spent the night at Mr. Ramierâs apartment, IâŠâ
She blushed and bit her lip. Getting caught sniffing him might have been embarrassing, but admitting this somehow felt more personal.
âWhat?â He asked. âIs it because I smelled the same as Chat and myself?â
âHuh? Noâwell, sort of? Maybe subconsciously.â
âOh. Thatâs what you said while you were sleeptalking.â He shrugged.
âI guess that makes sense, since⊠well, Iâve been dreaming about you. Both of you.â Â
She took a deep breath. He was still waiting patiently, his hand softly stroking her back. If he didnât think she was crazy yet, she guessed this wouldnât change his mind.
âYou were always the same person in my dreams. Youâd switch back and forth between Adrien and Chat Noir. âChatâ would sit in front of me at school, or âAdrienâ would help me bring down a scary akuma. Either way, it was always you.
âAnd then I couldnât help looking for similarities when I was awake. IâI started writing down all the evidence I found. The time âChatâ almost beat me at Ultimate Mecha Strike was when I started to actually believe it. But what finally convinced for sure me was your laugh.â
She laced her fingers together in her lap to keep from fidgeting. All of it sounded weirder when she said it out loud. Almost like sheâd been stalking him, sticking all of their casual interactions under a microscope.
âWow,â he breathed, leaning back against the wall. âIâm flattered that you went through all that effort, but I donât get it. The only reason I didnât reveal myself sooner was because I was afraid it would put more stress on you, and you were already dealing with so much. Why didnât you just ask me who I was?â
She stared into his eyes, watching the pastel lights reflect in them. He still didnât know. All these secrets shared, all these weights lifted, and she still hadnât revealed the one secret sheâd wanted to confess all along.
âBecauseâŠâ she licked her lips, âbecause I didnât want to be wrong. If you werenât AdrienâI didnât want to project my old crush onto you. You deserve better than that. Though I guess it doesnât matter now, since I wasnât projecting after all, it is you and so I should. Just be able to say this.â
He blinked at her, but then his lips began to part in a slow smile.
âAre you sayingâŠ?â
âIâm saying Iâm in love with you,â she blurted before she could lose her nerve again. âFirst Adrien you, then Chat Noir you, then just, well, you. Soâso jot that down.â
A startled laugh escaped him before he squeezed her tight again.
âConsider it jotted.â He kissed the top of her head, as if it were the most natural thing in the world. As if she wasnât going to dissolve at the faintest sign of lip-on-hair contact. âAnd in case it wasnât obvious, Iâm in love with all of you too. So you can jot that down.â
It shouldnât have undone her. Chat Noir had confessed his love to her countless times. Granted, all of those times had been before their battle with Miracle Queen, after which heâd obviously tried to move on.
But he still loved her. She wasnât too late. Â
Maybe that relief was what pushed her to grab the collar of his shirt in both hands and press her mouth to his.
Her brain screamed, but her lips slowly figured out what to do, particularly when Adrien got over his shock and kissed her back.
Adrien. Holding her in his arms. Kissing her back.
She wasnât sure if the sound she heard was the rain or the roaring in her ears or just her internal screaming. But it didnât matter. For the first time, they were really, finally together, no secrets or fears between them. That truth was just as sweet as the kiss.
He finally pulled back, the front of his shirt damp where heâd been pressed against her. From the wide grin on his face, he didnât mind.
âWill I get that kind of kiss every time I tell you I love you?â
âI donât know.â She tapped her lips. âIt might be worth finding out.â
âI love you, my Laââ
She cut him off with her mouth on his.
All that time waiting, every failed attempt at confessing her feelings, slipped away like the rain off the slick balcony railing.
When the sky finally cleared, she woke to them tangled together, slumped against that same railing. She had a crick in her neck, and sheâd probably end up with a cold from sleeping in her wet clothes. But it still felt worth it to look up into Adrienâs blissful face. Somehow sheâd woken up before himâprobably because her clothes had been more uncomfortable, since his were dry where his suit had covered them.
âAre you going to give me any juicy secrets in your sleep?â She asked before kissing the side of his jaw.
His only response was to hum and hug her.
âI guess thatâs a no.â She chuckled. âNo fair. I shouldnât be the only one embarrassing myself in this relationship.â
Relationship. She couldâve exploded into confetti just thinking about it.
âMmm⊠love you⊠mâlady.â
Her breath caught at his slurred voice.
â...Well I guess I canât complain about that.â
She rested her head back on his chest, and let the dripping remnants of rain from the gutters lull her back to sleep.
New Year, New Life
A little sequel to All I Want for Christmas is a New Beginning
It's been a year since a certain cute elf met a certain hot single uncle waiting in line to bring his niece to see Santa. A year since she ran away from him and fate--or rather Juleka--brought them back together again. A year since they kissed at midnight after Alya's annual New Year's party.
It's once again time for Alya's New Year's party, and with all the possibilities of a brand new year before them, Marinette and Luka can't help but be excited about it.
Technically I feel like I should be posting this tomorrow, but I wrote it for the @lovebugs-and-snakecharmers Sprint Challenge which closes today, so Happy New Year just a little bit early! The prompt was "New Yearâs party with a New Yearâs kiss" and it seemed like the perfect chance to revisit these two. You don't really HAVE to have read the previous fic to get this one, but it will have a little more context and impact if you do. 3 15-minute sprints with 24 hours to edit. I did it all in less than 12 hours, but I also added a good five or six hundred words in the âeditingâ phase, so...make of that what you will.
đ
It was amazing how many things could change in a year, Marinette thought, grinning up at Luka and leaning back into him as they moved together with practice ease. Just like last year, he had joined her at Alyaâs annual party after playing his own New Yearâs gig, in the same ballroom of the Grand Paris that Alya had rented last year. As soon as heâd arrived and done the obligatory greeting and handshakes and bises where necessary, heâd coaxed her to the dance with him, just like that first time. It was easy to agree; after a year of dating him, she was no longer awkward on the dance floor. They swayed and rolled and dipped together, both grinning and neither with eyes for anyone but each other. His hands on her body were not so light or hesitant as theyâd once been, and frequently they were not so carefully respectful anymore either. She bumped her hip into him and gave him a pout for teasing her, which just made him lean down and catch her mouth in a brief kiss.
Marinette giggled and faced him, sliding her arms up around his neck as his hands found her waist and pulled her close.
âHey!â Alya yelled as she danced past them, one hand holding a drink as the other waved in the air. âNo making out on the dance floor!â
âSince when?â Marinette hollered after her, and then pulled Luka down for a prolonged kiss, just to make her point. He tasted like champagne, and Marinette had to stop kissing him because she couldnât stop smiling.
âIâm almost sorry this year is ending,â she told him, rubbing a hand along his arm tenderly. Luka gathered her up in a hug, and then dropped his arm to slide around her waist, guiding her off the dance floor. They wandered together towards the windows, cuddling together as they looked out over the city lights.
âI love you,â Luka murmured, and the words still gave her a little shiver. She pressed closer to him.
âI love you too,â she sighed happily.
âIt has been a spectacular year,â Luka continued, squeezing her hip. âBut I gotta say that Iâm looking forward to this year even more.â
Marinette hummed and looked up at him. âWhyâs that?â
Luka took a deep breath, glancing back behind him as he slipped a hand in his pocket. Curving his body towards her slightly so no one else could see, he held up the small velvet box between them.
Marinette stared at the box for a stupefied moment, and then her eyes snapped up to his. A smile quirked the edge of his mouth, and he nodded at her with a soft look. Slowly she took the box, turning slightly towards him as well as she opened it to further shield them from the party. The ring nestled inside removed any doubt as to what was going on. She stared at it, overcome.
âIâd get down on one knee but Iâm pretty sure that would give us away,â Luka murmured. âMarinette, this has been the best year of my life, and I want every year from now on to be just like it. Will you marry me?â
âYes,â Marinette managed to gasp, and Luka plucked the ring out of the box, taking it with his other hand and snapping it shut, popping it back in his pocket before anyone else could see. As calm and smooth as he appeared, his hands were shaking when he took Marinetteâs hand and carefully, deliberately slid the ring on her finger. As soon as it was there, Marinette pressed against him, burying her face in his chest. She could feel him taking slow, deep breaths with extended exhales, and smiled to herself. He was a cool customer, her Luka, but she knew his cues now. Heâd been nervous as hell. She stayed there until her own jumbled nerves were settled and his breathing was more normal. Then she looked up at him, and as soon as her face was tilted high enough, he bent down and kissed her, slow and deep, and his heart fluttered wildly under the hands she placed on his chest.
âItâs not midnight yet!â Alya called, and they both turned to see her approach.
âTraditions are for the weak, CĂ©saire,â Luka called back, grinning fit to split his face. Marinette opened her mouth to get rid of her dearest friend, but before she had a chance, Alya let out a shriek.
âMARINETTE DUPAIN-CHENG WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?â
Before Marinette could blink, Alya was at her side, grabbing at her left hand. Marinette flushed deeply and behind her Luka chuckled. She looked up at him, and he shrugged, though a blush was painting his cheeks as well.
âHow could you not tell me?â Alya said, examining the ring.
âI havenât had time ,â Marinette snorted, snatching her hand back. âWay to ruin the moment, Alya.â
âNow?â Alya gaped, looking up between them. Then she recovered and put a hand on her cocked hip. âReally, Couffaine? You couldnât wait until midnight?â
âNope,â Luka said easily, without shame. âGotta seize the moment when it comes.â He winked at Marinette. âBesides, now I get to kiss my fiancĂ©e at midnight.â
Marinette turned bright red and felt as if there were no air in the room. She hadnât even had time to process and then he had to go and say that . Alya burst out laughing and shoved Marinette back into Lukaâs arms. They folded around her and squeezed, and she snuggled close.
âAll right, all right,â Alya laughed, âI'll keep the secret a little longer so you two can have your moment, but Iâm making an announcement at midnight and you two are going to smooch in front of everybody . If youâre going to upstage my party youâd better do it right!â
When she was gone, Marinette sighed, resting her chin on Lukaâs chest and peeking up at him. âSorry,â he smiled. âMaybe I should have waited until we were alone, but it just...seemed like the right time.â
Marinette smiled, and then lifted her head to kiss his chin. Â âIt was. It was perfect.â
âIf itâs too soon, you can tell me,â Luka said, squeezing her lightly. âItâs not a one-time offer. You donât have to wear it if youâre not ready. Or you can wear it for as long as you want to, and we donât have to set a date untilââ
Marinette rolled her eyes, straightened, and took his face between her hands. âLuka. Iâm ready. I want to marry you.â
He flushed at that, and the grin on his face was so wide and boyish and so unlike his usual smooth smirk, that she had to laugh. âSilly,â she muttered as he pulled her close again.
Luka shrugged. âItâs not like the first time I jumped the gun. I donât want you suddenly freaking out and making a run for it on me again,â he teased.
âOh,â Marinette gasped, too outraged to even scold him properly. âOh, youâargh!â She drew back and whacked his arm, but she did it with her left hand, which just drew her eyes back to the glittering stone on her fingerâwow, it was sparkly, no wonder Alya had noticed it right awayâand then she was all smiles again.
âDance with me some more,â Luka urged, catching both her hands in his and tugging her after him.
Marinette joined him gladly, and maybe her eyes kept straying to that sparkle where her hand rested on his shoulder, and maybe his hand kept sliding up her arm to caress her fingers or hold her hand to his chest, and maybe for once midnight came a little too soon for either of them.
A few minutes before midnight, their attention was drawn from each other to Alya, who had gotten a microphone from Nino and climbed up on a table.
âEverybody ready for the countdown?â she hollered, and there was a chorus of cheers. âMarinette and Luka, get up here.â
Marinette groaned, but took Lukaâs hand and led him toward Alyaâs table, accepting the inevitable.
âHold up that hand, Marinette, and flash us all that rock!â Alya demanded, leaning down to grab Marinetteâs wrist and wave her ringed hand in the air. âCheck it out, folks, and remember you heard it here first! These two lovebirds are tying the knot. Max, who wins the pool?â
Marinette snatched her hand back, her mouth dropping open in outrage. â Pool? â
âYep,â Alya grinned. âBeen running since June. So who picked New Yearâs Eve?â
Markov flew up to Alyaâs side and she held out the microphone for the little robot.
âThe winner of the Couffaine-Dupain-Cheng engagement pool is Jonathon C.â
Alya frowned, pulling the microphone back. âOkay, whoâsââ
Luka coughed, behind Marinette. âThat would be me.â Marinette turned to stare at him, and he winked at her. âLuka Jonathan Couffaine.â
âOh you filthy cheater,â Alya screeched, kicking him and nearly falling off the table. âHow did you evenâ Max ?â
Max held up his hands, but no one could hear him over the uproar.
âHe filled out the web form with all the pertinent information,â Markov observed. âThere is no rule excluding Luka from participating, nor any rule against using a middle name for registration. Lukaâs entry is valid. I shall transfer the appropriate amount to the account you designated.â
âThanks, Markov,â Luka said, and the pure Couffaine shit-eating grin on his face robbed Marinette of any ability to be mad at him. âI appreciate you all funding the ring.â
Alya groaned. âOh my Gâokay, you know what, the countdownâs about to start, so you two get up here. I expect one world class smooch for that, Couffaine.â
âSorry, Alya, Iâm in a very committed relationship,â Luka laughed, but while Alya scowled at him and insisted he knew what she meant, he pulled over a chair and graciously offered his hand to help her down from the table. Then he helped Marinette up, and carefully joined her.
âI hope these tables are sturdy,â Marinette muttered under her breath as the countdown began.
âSo what kind of a show are we making here?â Luka asked her, raising his eyebrows.
Marinette smirked at him. âIâll handle it. Just put your arms around my neck and donât struggle or weâre both going to fall off this thing.â
Lukaâs eyebrows lifted higher but there was no time for more questions.
âFive,â the crowd screamed, waving their champagne glasses. "Four!"
âThree,â Marinette murmured, her eyes fixed on Luka. âTwo.â She hooked one leg behind his knee and put her arms around his waist. He put his arms around her neck as sheâd instructed. âOne.â
She dipped him back over her thigh. âWhoa!â Luka gasped, and then grinned, and leaned up so she could reach him, and the crowd roared âHappy New Year,â as they kissed, oblivious to both the cheering and the camera flashes going off all around them.
Later, they would watch the yearâs first sunrise together through the windows, pressed tight under a blanket on the couch, and sit quietly with the gravity of all that had passed, in the contentment of each otherâs company.
But just as that moment, the fireworks and cheers and celebration seemed a perfect background to a kiss that went on until Marinetteâs trembling arms forced her to break it. Luka laughed breathlessly as she hauled him up, and he pressed his lips to her forehead.
âYouâre amazing,â he told her, as the music resumed. He got down from the table, and then reached up to catch her waist and lift her down beside him.
âThink Alya will be satisfied?â Marinette giggled.
âIf sheâs not, Iâm more than happy to try a do-over,â Luka grinned, and then lowered his forehead to hers. âI love you.â
Marinette smiled, cupping his cheek. âHappy New Year, Luka.â
âHappy new life, Marinette.â
Fall
Would you look at that, huh? I finally finished mine and get to post it for all of you to see, especially @bbwoulfc who I wrote this for and provided me with wonderful prompts.
Hereâs to my first time participating in the @lovebugs-and-snakecharmers Valentine Exchange Event 2021. Happy Valentineâs Day!
Cross-posted from AO3.
Organizing his room isnât something Luka learned from his mother, but itâs what he makes into a habit after living with her his whole life before moving out. His apartment isnât as messy as La LibertĂ© is after leaving it alone into his motherâs hands, but that doesnât excuse him from cleaning his own domain every now and then. And so on thatâs what he ends up doing on a Monday, free from other obligations that wouldâve prevented him from cleaning.
He starts off by clearing out a particular box stained with multi-coloured paint, sitting at the bottom of a shelf in the corner of his bedroom. He wouldnât have paid too much attention to it on any other day and just made sure to organize the chaotic stacking of whateverâs on top of it, but thereâs something about the chaotic joy that emits from the box, calling out to him like a fairy in the forest. And so he sits down, clearing out the surprisingly spacious box filled with so many things. He finds old photos of him and Juleka smiling widely into the camera and showing off their missing teeth, a few forgotten guitar picks obviously painted by himself, some beads of what could only come from his motherâs collection, and an old shirt that he hopes was washed before sleeping in the box for years. But underneath all of those lies an even smaller box painted dark-teal with splatters of pink, rectangular in shape, and with a latch keeping it closed.
The box is small enough that he can hold it with his two hands, but the sound of shuffling tells him that something is hiding inside it. He opens the box carefully, mindful of any stray glitter that he mightâve forgotten about (something heâs learned in the past), only to find something else. He picks up a small notebook that appears to have something stuck in between its many pages, and he realizes theyâre pressed flowers â daffodils, rose petals, violets, daisies, and even bluebells. He carefully closes the notebook, making sure that the flowers are left undisturbed, and notices something written on the first page. He recognizes his handwriting and his pathetic attempt at writing his name in cursive, Julekaâs, but thereâs a third name thatâs written by someone elseâs. It looks much neater than his, so itâs easier for him to read it, and his finger gently brushes against the years-old charcoal on paper: âMarinette Dupain-Chengâ.
All of a sudden, the name of a long-lost friend unlocks memories of the past. Memories of children spending most of their days together, running around and splashing each other with water and sharing snacks while sitting under a tree. He sees memories that unlock something that has been planted in his heart a long time ago, spending years in silent hibernation, until now.
He blinks his eyes multiple times, trying to shake away the wistfulness and longing of what he thinks is already gone, and puts the notebook back in its place. As he does so, he notices a necklace chain lying at the corner of the small box and picks it up. Strangely enough, nothing is attached to it. He thinks hard on what could have been there, and whether or not it had been lost during one of his previous cleaning before, during, or after moving out. Heâll have to ask his mother and maybe Juleka about that. For now, he pockets the chain and puts the small box right by his bed as a reminder to put it somewhere else.
Not wanting to get too distracted, he quickly and carefully puts the rest of the trinkets away and continues with his cleaning. Despite that, though, he spends most of his cleaning time thinking about the past and a girl he once called Marinette.
While he clears out the dust gathering from every corner, he remembers the softness of her hand whenever they held hands.
While he sweeps the floor, he hums the tune of an unnamed song he remembers singing to her after tripping and scraping her hands and knees.
While he washes, dries, and folds his laundry, he smiles when he remembers the sound of her laugh.
While he cooks dinner, he remembers the smell of grass that lingers around them after rolling around it for hours.
It takes him until heâs lying on his bed, eyes wide open, fingers twiddling with the necklace chain that he realizes itâs always been there. The feelings have always been there, but he was too young to know until now. He closes his eyes to sleep, hoping to at least see her again - if not in reality, but perhaps in his dreams.
He wakes up in the morning, tears staining the sides of his cheeks, and he realizes heâll never see her again.
A few days after the impromptu visit down memory lane, he walks into an arts and crafts store to buy some special paper to use for his bandâs flyers. After asking an employee on which aisle to go to, he hums the same song that reminds him of her, and for now he wonât cry again. But as he turns the corner of the aisle, he halts his steps and his face is frozen with wide eyes and a gaping mouth.
There, standing in the middle of the paper aisle, is who Luka can only assume is Marinette (if he remembers her features correctly). From the looks of the basket sheâs carrying filled with paint and paintbrushes, she mustâve been here for a while now. She looks pretty - no, prettier - than how he remembers her, and he wishes he can take a picture of her in case itâs all he has left of her before she disappears again.
She looks pretty (what was wrong with repeating it?) standing there looking at the shelf of cardstock paper, her hair done up in a bun with a few stray strands brushing against her neck and cheeks. Sheâs wearing a peach-coloured blouse with a ruffled collar and short butterfly sleeves tucked into light-blue high-waisted jeans, and gold-coloured sandals.
Luka changes his mind and thinks that sheâs not pretty - sheâs absolutely beautiful.
âMarinette?â He calls out to her in a soft voice, unsure if sheâll hear him. Luka remains standing still, his breathing even caught in the moment, and thatâs how Marinette finds him when she turns around at the call of her name. She puts on a polite smile, unsure how to address the stranger who knows her name, until she realizes itâs not just a stranger.
It takes her a while to recognize Luka, mostly because of the teal-dyed tips of his hair that apparently suits him well. Heâs grown up from the lanky boy she used to grab onto whenever she gets scared, judging by how well the all-black raglan t-shirt clings to his arms. She notices how tall heâs gotten, what with how long his legs look wearing those dark skinny jeans and a pair of low cut white and mint green sneakers.
âLuka? Is that you?â
They simultaneously walk closer to each other, but still wary about whether or not theyâre mistaking someone else for their childhood friend.
âItâs been awhile, hasnât it?â He asks, and his heart beats a little louder and faster when he hears her laugh, the back of her hand covering her mouth to hide her smile and he so wishes to see it again after all these years.
âI guess it has been.â
âSo⊠15 years, huh?â
âHm? Oh! Oh, yes!â She laughs again and he loves the sound of it. It sounds even better than he remembers it to be. âI canât believe itâs been that long already.â
âYeah, neither can I. So, uh⊠how have you been? Howâre your parents? Do you live around here, too?â
âIâm doing fine and so are my parents. They have a bakery and apartment set up at the 21st arrondissement, so you should come by! Theyâd love to see you again, you know?â she holds onto one of his arms, and it feels so warm and he doesnât want her to let go. âWhat about you? Howâre you doing? And Juleka? Your mom?â
âWeâre great,â he responds breathily, âIâm glad to see you again, you know? And Iâd love to drop by at the bakery. And you said âtheyâ so, does that mean youâŠ?â
âMoved away? Yes, I have.â She lets go, and he feels as if winter has come to hold him instead. âItâs actually not too far from them so, we donât really miss each other that much.â
They continue with their small reunion, walking around the store while exchanging stories that they missed out on each other. They talk as if 15 years had never separated them at all, until their meeting comes to an end when Marinette sees that time and tells Luka that she has somewhere to be. Sad as it is, he finds comfort when they exchange numbers and have something to hold onto the other - to have something to remind them that theyâre not separated anymore.
He waves her off from the storeâs door, and itâs only when the same employee he spoke with earlier asks him if heâs found what heâs looking for that remembers he was there to buy paper.
Right, of course.
They spend the entire night after their reunion talking to each other, and it ends with them agreeing to meet up outside of Shakespeare and Company, a bookstore theyâve both been meaning to visit soon. They agree to meet the day after, and it leaves Luka feeling nervous as he picks out what to wear. After 15 minutes (he made sure to wake up extra early today) were spent looking through his closet, he finally decides on a white graphic shirt slightly tucked into light-grey chino shorts with a brown belt to secure it, and blue and white loafers. He grabs his dark-green crossbody bag, checks that everything he needs is already inside, locks his door, and leaves for the bookstore.
When he arrives at the bookstore, he sees Marinette standing outside looking down at her phone, and he canât help but admire at how adorable she looks wearing a white oversized shirt with drop shoulder sleeves reaching down to her elbows and tucked into all-black shorts, black high cut boots, and a black bucket hat to cover her head from the bright sun. As he walks closer, he notices that sheâs left her hair down this time, and the image reminds him of those times she and Juleka would practice different hairstyles on each other. Her other arm holds onto the strap of her own crossbody bag.
Luka coughs into his hand to catch her attention, to which she responds and heâs happy to see how bright her eyes are when she notices him.
âLuka, hi! Youâre here!â
âHello, Marinette.â He greets her, and the way those words leave him feels all too familiar until now. âYou ready to go in?â
âIâm excited, actually. But I think knowing youâre spending the day with me makes it even more exciting.â
Unsure whether the weather is getting warmer or not, he clears his throat and opens the door for her. âSo am I, actually. After you.â
The day goes well - even better than yesterday - and they spend it like good old friends who leave no time for awkwardness. They touch each other by the arm or by the shoulder, something similar to what they used to do, and yet theyâre also more than that. Each touch is warmer and lingers longer than the last, and Luka can only hope that Marinette feels it, too. He thinks she does with how she turns around quickly after they brush their fingers against each other while reaching for the same book. His mind is stuck with the image of what he can only assume was a blush on her face, unable to respond to her squeaking out, âIâll check the next aisle!â
He only stares at her back, initially scared that sheâll disappear again and never to see him again for 15 more years, but he calms himself and ponders on the tingling that tickles him from inside out. And for the rest of the day, they peek through corners of bookshelves and vacant spaces in-between books, smiling and laughing as they share their finds and decide on what to buy.
They leave the store to eat lunch at a nearby cafĂ©, doing some more catching up with each other. They talk and talk and talk the entire day away, going from one place to another without a care in the world besides from knowing that finally, finally theyâve found each other again, and itâs like they donât want to let go of each other again.
The next few days, unfortunately, do not cater to their sudden need for each otherâs company, because of their own personal responsibilities. Luka and practicing with his band, writing and composing songs, and visiting his mother and sister while letting them know that heâs seen Marinette again. Marinette, on the other hand, finds herself busy with multiple card orders from her clients, helping out at her parentsâ bakery, and definitely letting them know that sheâs seen Luka again.
Itâs not until a week and a half later that they get to see each other again in person for a picnic. Although they spend the previous nights texting and calling each other, thereâs just something about seeing someone special to you without the physical limitations from their phones. Even when itâs summer, the days and nights they spent apart after reuniting could only make them feel like itâs winter.
The picnic was to take place on a field outside of the city, a place recommended to him by one of his bandmates (after some well-deserved teasing when they found out the reason for his asking). Because it was a bit far, Luka volunteered to drive them both there with his car. The lack of the typical urban noises theyâve grown accustomed to only serves as a plus, considering they were both the type to prefer a calm ambience.
Marinette had brought some home-made pastries for them to eat, as well as some water and juice to drink. She also brought with her a sketchbook and some pencils in case inspiration were to strike her and use it for any future cards to make. Asides from those, she also made sure to bring two small bed tray tables for them to place some of the food on. She also decided to wear a light blue V-neck dress just brushing against the top of her knees with circular cap sleeves extending down just before her elbows, and white sandals. Once again, her hair is left down to spread across her back.
Luka, on the other hand, was quite adamant to take responsibility for bringing the picnic blankets that could fit an entire class and more when they first planned the outing. Asides from those, he also brought some foldable chairs for them to sit on if the ground started feeling too stiff for their bottoms, and his guitar to pass the idle time by playing some music for both of them. As for his clothes, this time he went with a light blue button-up shirt with the first two buttons left open, paired with black shorts, and sand-yellow loafers.
After arriving at the field for their picnic, they choose to sit close to a small cluster of trees that would give them more than enough shade to protect them from the sun. They were taking out all of their picnic essentials from Lukaâs car while also admiring the scenery in front of them, when Marinette said something.
âThis is wonderful, Luka. Please thank your friend for recommending this place, and I really think we should start doing this more.â
âFor sure, Marinette. And not that I donât like it, but arenât you a bit too early to say that?â He turns around from where heâs busy placing their food basket down, âWhat if you ended up hating the picnic?â
âWha - no! As if!â Marinette looks over her shoulder quickly and he sees her eyes going wide, her hands clenching onto the blanket she was supposedly fixing, âWhy would I even think that? Why would you think that? This place is perfect, the weather is perfect, the food is perfect, and - â
âAnd the company is perfect?â Lukaâs question was a gamble on his part, and he hopes that Marinette doesnât notice the trembling of his voice.
âYes!â
He also wasnât sure that sheâd even say something back, but he watches as her eyes slowly widen even more, the flush in her cheeks rapidly gaining territory of her entire face, and her mouth shaping into a large âOâ until -
âYup, there it is.â He thinks to himself, unsure whether heâs referring to the lovely shade of red on her face or the fact that his childhood friend finally realizes what sheâs said.
âI-I mean â itâs because â I wasnât thinking properly when you â but that doesnât mean that I think youâre â but you know what I â â Marinette quickly turns her back on him, her shoulders tense and hunching, and just as Lukaâs about to reach out and touch her shoulder for comfort, heâs startled when he hears her muffled scream.
âH-heyâŠMarinette, come on. Itâs okay.â His hand finally makes contact with her shoulder and pats it gently. âI understand, so donât be too hard on yourself, okay?â
He sits closer to her and gives her a side hug, rubbing her arm to try and console his easily flustered friend. It seems to work when her face finally surfaces from the safety of her hands, face still a little red, her brows scrunched up in worry and her eyes glossy from unshed tears.
âHey, heyâŠâ he coos at her, leaning even closer to her to the point that their shoulders are practically touching, âItâs alright. I get it. You know you donât have to worry about embarrassing yourself in front of me. And besides, I am the perfect company after all.â
âLukaaaaaaa!â she whines and hits him not too hard on the chest, inducing a hearty laugh from him.
âAlright, alright! Easy there, Marinette. How about we forget about this and go right ahead with eating. Sounds good?â
âMhm.â
âGood. Why donât you get some of your stuff thatâs still in the car, and Iâll set the food?â He gives her the car keys, implying that she can lock the car afterwards. Just as Marinette takes the keys, turns around, and walks away, Luka quickly turns his back towards her to hide his face thatâs now rapidly gaining a new shade of red.
âMagnolia and cherry blossom;â he thinks to himself, referring to the smell from his friend, âlike a walk at Champ de Mars.â
Before getting caught, he goes right back to taking the food out from the basket and sets everything down onto the blanket with shaky hands.
After eating and admiring the view, they eventually find themselves leaning onto each otherâs back. They make no other noise asides from Luka strumming his guitar and the occasional scratch of charcoal against paper on Marinetteâs end. After the slightly awkward chattering from earlier, it worries Luka that there had been little talk between them since then. And even when Marinette would keep on assuring him that everythingâs alright, it worries him that perhaps after being separated for 15 long years, not everything goes back to the way it used to be.
Perhaps he is expecting too much, thinking of what ifs and could have beens, and heâs left clueless on how to keep their strange relationship afloat if the day ends on a sour note. Perhaps he shouldâve kept his mouth shut, and maybe Marinette wouldnât feel too uncomfortable anymore and -
A muffled thud rouses him from his deep thoughts, curious to know what couldâve dropped onto the blanket. Just as he turns back to ask Marinette what it was (if she would even answer him at all), he sees something flash from her small and soft hands.
There, sitting perfectly from Marinetteâs hand, is what looks like an open pocket watch with its outside the colour of champagne. But as he looks closer, he realizes itâs actually a compass with a sundial instead of a watch with gold-coloured rims. Marinette notices him looking at what sheâs holding, and before she can say a word, he beats her to it by asking,
âYou still have that? After all these years?â
âOf course. Itâs one of the few things I can never let go.â
Instead of saying something back, Luka immediately starts patting his shirt and shorts, before finally putting his hand in one of his pockets to grab something and pull out the same necklace chain he had found in the small box hiding in his room, and holds it out to her.
âThis is its chain for it, right? The compass, I mean.â
âY-yeah. You told me I could have the compass while you keep the chain, so weâd know thereâs always a chance for us to see each other again.â
The words âand we didâ are left unsaid, but they still knew what it meant for them. What it means for them. No longer able to stop himself, he cups both her cheeks and leans his forehead against hers, close enough to smell the flowers on her again. Close enough to brush his nose against hers. Close enough to just kiss her.
But he doesnât and she doesnât. And frankly, theyâre alright with what they have right now.
They end their picnic in the late afternoon, with the sun still up and hinting a shade of orange in its yellows. They pack everything back inside Lukaâs car in silence, but the kind where they are comfortable and content without the words. They spend the rest of the drive back to the city basking in a new kind of understanding, one that theyâve chosen to keep among themselves, hands bashfully brushing against each other every now and then, and eyes sneaking glances at one another.
They donât talk again until Luka drops Marinette off, helps her put all her stuff back in her apartment, and stands outside of her door.
âThank you again for the picnic, Luka.â
âAnd thank you for the company, Marinette.â Instead of getting flustered at the reminder of what happened earlier, she only offers him a small smile.
âYou know you can stay a little longer if you want,â she offers, âsurely you must be tired from driving.â
She wraps her hands across herself, her fingers playing with the fabric of her dress. Her hair is now tied into a loose side ponytail, her sandals replaced with soft home slippers in light pink.
Luka scratches his right cheek with a finger, his eyes telling her without words that he is more than ready to accept her invitation. His left hand is hiding within the confines of his pocket, fidgeting as much as possible with his phone.
But just as Luka opens his mouth to verbally accept her offer, they hear something buzz. Luka immediately takes his phone out, sees his motherâs name and excuses himself, walking a few steps away from Marinette. He notices her glancing away, giving him some privacy.
His head is filled with todayâs events, even as he listens to his motherâs words through the phone. He canât help but think that maybe, just maybe, theyâre not just childhood friends anymore. That maybe, just maybe, these feelings between them can grow just as they have. But as soon as he comes to that conclusion, his heart drops at what his mother tells him.
He hangs up after bidding her goodbye, puts his phone back in his pocket, and walks back to Marinette. For every step he takes, he dreads of the disappointment heâll see on her face as soon as he tells her,
âSorry, but I canât stay.â
The guilt eats at him as he watches her smile drop, her bright blue eyes looking from up at him to down at her shoes, her brows a little furrowed from -
âDisappointment. Sheâs disappointed I canât stay.â
âSo, uhâŠâ he clears his throat, âI really want to stay, but Ma called me to â â
âItâs okay, I understand.â Marinette finally looks up, and Lukaâs glad that there arenât any tears. âJust tell her and Juleka I said hi.â
âYeah, for sure.â
He remains standing in front of her, still not ready to leave her in fear that itâll be the last he sees of her. They remain standing in front of each other in silence, the gaiety from today slowly slipping away until it leaves them with a cold hug. All of a sudden, it feels like winter during a summer night. It doesnât make sense; not in the slightest, and Luka hates it.
âI guess Iâll just call you when I get home?â He asks her, his arms opening up to invite her for a hug.
âYeah, of course.â She walks into his embrace, and heâs not even ashamed of letting out a sigh of relief when he feels her hands wrap around him. âLet me know when youâre back home.â
He hums in agreement, even when bites his tongue to not say âI am home. With you.â
They separate after a few more seconds, but only enough that theyâre still wrapped around each other, Luka looking down at Marinetteâs face. He looks into her eyes, and he sees the same blue sky that often smiled upon them when they used to be children, and he wishes to see the same sky now that theyâre no longer that young. He looks at the small blush that finds itself spreading onto her cheeks like the picnic blankets they used, and he sees the sunset that used to smile down on them whenever they bid farewell and went back home; before the last goodbye turned into years instead of a night and day.
And suddenly, he has an idea.
He has an idea, and itâs a very bold one. He has an idea that has been whispering suggestively at him from the very corner of his mind, persisting to catch his attention and never going away. He has an idea that persists on calling out to him, screaming at him, telling him to just â
He leans down slowly, his eyes looking into hers before falling down onto her lips. He looks into those lips that he keeps thinking whether they taste just as sweet as the pastries she bakes.
Instead, he gently presses his own lips onto hers, and all he tastes are blueberries and lemon. He thinks heâs kissing pure bliss, but perhaps itâs happiness.
He feels her hand cup his cheek, slightly putting pressure onto the skin and pushing him closer to her, and suddenly happiness turns into elation. Marinette is responding and itâs utterly delightful. Luka doesnât want to let her go anymore â because heâs finally telling her whatâs been gnawing at him â but he pulls away, nonetheless.
He hears her whine in disappointment, and he mentally berates himself for making the habit of disappointing her.
âI have to go now.â He whispers to her, but with where heâs looking, neither knows if heâs telling Marinette, herself, or her pair of lips.
After gaining the confidence to look into her eyes again, Luka believes his knees are going weak.
âI really have to go now.â He tells her, and he leans onto her hand when her fingers start caressing his cheek.
âI know.â
He finally lets her go and steps away, unwilling to turn his back around; afraid that heâll lose sight of her and never see her again for years. Or ever at all.
âIâll call you later?â
Marinette can only smile at the boy she once knew 15 years ago, tucking stray hands of her hair behind her ear.
âIâll wait for you.â
He smiles back at her before walking away,
only to quickly turn back around to kiss her like sunlight with the flowers on fresh, spring morning.
Damianâs Sister
So I read @unmaskedagainâs Lady Noire In Gotham and @monkeebratzâs SMOL DAMIEN MARIBAT AU. Which created this idea.
A tad bit of background info.
Marinette, as well as most of the class, is between 15 and 16.
Damian has barely turned 11, having spent barely a year with the Wayneâs, so some of the things that they are teaching him are slowly root in his mind, which is why in the beginning he will come across as a bit of a lost boy. Not entirely sure of himself but sure of what he wants.
Marinette has the Black Cat Miraculous, and is notorious among everyone in her class for taking phones. Everyone just laughs about it whenever a phone is missing because it is most likely with Marinette.
*Line Break Inc.*
Marinette sighed as she looked around her classmates, everyone very unimpressed. They all realize that their lives are at stake and that a gun is being pointed at Marinetteâs head. But Marinette wasnât panicking, so why should they?
Marinette wasnât panicking because she realizes that she had died before. While they arenât pleasant memories, she still knows how it is to die, and she doesnât panic just because some villain thinks that they can have a large pay day from the people in her class, from the French government.
Only thing is that they never negotiate with terrorist.
So, no. Marinette was not worried. Not for her life. For her parents, yes, she is worried for them. But not her life.
Marinette looked back to her class and see that the men that have surrounded the class with guns, werenât paying attention to their guns, very much. Allowing Plagg to slip in and go through the guns, doing whatever it is that Plagg will do to cause luck on their side.
âHey,â The class president called to her class. Every single one of their eyes turned to her, while also keeping an eye on the men in front of them. The men also turn their entire attention on the young Parisian fully ignoring their guns at that point. âHave we or have we not survived akuma after akuma?â The teens straightened their backs and looked more defiant. âAnd how did we survive them?â Marinette saw Alya and CholĂ© smirk before the two and every other female kicked the men in front of them, in the pelvic.
Marinette looked away from her classmates as they cause havoc and escape. The man in front of her smirked as he pulled his trigger, causing nothing to happen.
Marinette is so lucky she is Lady Noire.
The Asian Parisian raised a single eyebrow before she kicks the man in his jaw with her heel. Shame she was wearing her flats that day.
She looked around to her classmates and how they captured the group of men. Adrien and Nino were rounding up the guns and putting them a safe distance away from everyone. Ivan and MylĂ©ne were sitting on one. CholĂ© and Sabrina were putting makeup on one, who looks to be happy to be having makeup being placed on him, or her, Marinette wasnât getting into that. Alya and Alix had one on his knees and were each pulling his arms behind him. Nathaniel had somehow convinced one to pose for him, every time that the guy tried to move Nathaniel would scream about aesthetic, in French. Rose, Juleka, and Lila were talking to one about all of his regrets in life, well Rose was getting him to talk about it and Juleka was there while Lila was digging into for everything that the man said. Kim and Max were arguing over the best way to hold a person down while demonstrating with two different guys.
âAlya, switch me and call it in.â Marinette walked over to where Alya was with Alix and took her spot, planting her foot in the manâs knee cavity and pulled his arm back towards her. Alya walked away and pulled a phone out from somewhere on her body. Marinette wasnât going to question it. âAdrien, Nino, will you two check on Madam Bustier?â
Their teacher was rather violently knocked out when she took a stand, alone, against the men. They waked her with one of their guns on the side of her head, she fell over and has been bleeding from where she was hit.
It took another twenty minutes before police or paramedics showed up. Twenty minutes listening to Max and Kim argue, of listening to Rose comfort and Lila berate the same man in broken English, of listening to Cholé give the man (or women) makeup tips in perfect English and listening to Nathaniel occasionally scream in French about aesthetic.
Marinette was proud of her class.
Yeah, they could survive in Gotham as long as they were together.
However.
Three hours later, Marinette has winded up alone. She simply got lost in a crowd and thought she had heard her teacher call for her in one direction, the paramedics had slowly cleared the class and the teacher. The mass hysteria of the area, from the police, to the paramedics, even ten different new reporters (some yelling over each other after having set up too close to one another, both looking like they want to destroy the other one with their mic) has caused Marinette to completely miss her class getting onto their bus back to their hotel.
So, Marinette made a mistake and ended up walking down Crime Alley. She admits it is her fault.
And looking a group of three men in the eyes, all of them having knives, Marinette has had it for the day.
âPlagg, transform me.â She felt the power of creation wash over her as she continued to look the men in the eye. âYou are all the worst. I just wanted a vacation from my own villain, but instead I had to come here to deal with other heroesâ villains.â They were in such a state of shock she was easily able to take them down tie them up to a light pole and left an anonymous tip on the GCPD website. When she turned around, she saw a jaw dropped Robin.
âWelp. Iâm died.â
âNo, no you are not.â He quickly countered and started muttering about five different things and he paced back and forth in front of her. He was talking so fast and so low it was hard for Marinette to understand completely.
âUh, so sorry but I must be going to my temporary home.â Marinette waved to the side before taking her staff and launching herself the other way that she waved. Marinette got all the way to her room, with there being nine girls on the trip Marinette ended up with her own room. She had just closed the window and dropped her transformation when she heard a tapping on her window.
âAH!â Marinette screamed, jumped, and spun around wielding her purse as a weapon. A throat cleared, making Marinette open her eyes, finding Robin there. âOh, hello.â
âHello, I wish for you to be my sister.â Robin stepped off of the windowsill and took a step into the room before turning around and closing the window and the curtain.
âWhat?â Marinette did not know what was happening, do people just adopt other people in the States?
âYouâll get to know who I am under the mask as well as the rest of the dubbed âBatfamilyâ.â He kept his back towards Marinette as he talked.
âWait.â
âAs well a bit more formal training. You are good; however, you could use some work.â
âStop.â Marinette finally got Robin to stop talking and turn towards her. Marinette also saw how tense he is. His posture, his face. Marinette was sure that if she could see his eyes, sheâd see tears welling up in his eyes.
âDo you not wish to be my sister?â
âWell, itâs just thatâŠâ
âYes of course, it was foolish for me to assume.â He turned away from her and clenched his fist at his sides, Marinette swore he had his eyes clenched underneath his mask.
âRobin, stop.â Marinette reached for him and brought him to sit on the bed with her. âI have parents.â
âBetter than mine, Iâm sure.â He continued to not look at Marinette, his fists tightened even more.
âI was a sort of miracle child. My parents never thought they could have me, or any child.â Marinette brought his face to look at hers.
âYou have no siblings?â His fist unclenched as realization came upon him.
âIâd like one though.â Marinette opened her arms to receive a hug. She kept them open while Robin turned away and took off his mask, bringing his hand up to his face to rub at before turning back around, without his mask, and buried his head in her shoulder and wrapped his arms around her middle.
âI have three brothers and one sister as well as two sorts of sisters. But I had no say in them. I had no say in my parents. But I want a say in who my family is. It would mean the world to me to be your brother and your parentâs son.â
Marinette knew that this moment was very delicate. She had to remind him of his own family, but she didnât know the situation of his family or how they treated him. Marinette sighed as she ran her fingers through his hair, deciding to just be quite for now and talking to Robin either in the morning or the next night.
A knock at the door interrupted the moment. In a second Robin had gotten across the room and hid in the bathroom and had silently closed the door. Marinette just blinked not sure if what she saw was correct. She slowly stood up and got to the door just as the person on the other side knocked again.
Marinette waited for the knocking to finish before opening the door to her teacher.
âHello, Madam Bustier.â Marinette smiled brightly and subtly kicked her shoes off, to show that she has been there the entire time.
âHello Marinette. I need you to do bedroom checks. You know where everyone needs to be. My head is still killing me.â Caline Bustier held up a clip board with a sheet with names across the top, room numbers right next to the name, as well as boxes underneath the names and numbers.
âIt is a good thing that tomorrow is supposed to be a free day.â Marinette grabbed hold of the clip board and held it to her chest.
âThat is another thing. Everyone is supposed to report to me tomorrow, but you mind if they reported to you?â Bustier leaned against the door jam, seeming to have a difficult time to just stand at that point.
âNot at all. Let me just get my slippers to walk around in the hall with, and I can get started on those bedroom checks as well as tell everyone that you will need to rest tomorrow so they will need to report to me.â Marinette backed out of the doorway a tad to start heading towards the bathroom to put her slippers on her feet as well as warn Robin of what was going on.
âThank you, if anyone has any questions have them email me.â
âOf course. Rest well, Madam.â
âYouâll also need to do a morning check in and check ins through the day tomorrow.â
âHow often do I need to have everyone check in with me?â
âOnce an hour, use the clip board to keep track of the times.â Marinette nod and ensured that Bustier made it to her room before slipping back into her own and heading to her bathroom.
âHey, I need to goâŠâ
âRoom check, I heard. I know French.â Marinette nodded, he seemed more hesitant.
Marinette after a moment of neither saying anything asked, âDo you need to go home?â
âYes, unfortunately.â He moved back to the bed and picked up his mask and turned back to her still as hesitant. âIâd like to spend the day with you tomorrow. If you are alright with that?â
Marinette smiled and pulled him into a hug. âIâd love to spend the day with my brother.â
Thursday - Alternative ending
I couldnât give Lukanette an unhappy ending, so hereâs chapter 2 to fix it.
Chapter 1
AO3
_______________________________________
Luka blinked at a blurry memory. Or instinct. Something indescriptible alerted him the instant his feet touched the ground out the metro. For a second, he could see a flashback of death crossing his mind. Shivers took over his body and his inner voice urged him to take action: âsave herâ.
Not wasting any moment and before Luka could actually think, the alarm of the doors that announced their closure soon started and Luka's hand straightened to grab Marinette's wrist and pull her body out of the train, just before the doors fully closed.
"Let's skip the first hour" he mischievously grinned, pulling her through the platform, passing next the old couple they had previously offered their seats to.
Out of surprise, Marinette couldn't answer, but she was more than happy to follow him upstairs and out to the street- or whenever he was willing to take her- with a shy happy smile on her face.
"I know I should have asked you if you wanted to come first, sorry for that", Luka turned his head back to her, not letting go of her hand.
"My classes don't start until 25 minutes from now. I can make it on foot, if I wanted to go"
"Do you want to? I can walk you there, if you want" he offered, apologetically.
"I prefer to skip the first hour with you" Marinette blushed with a wide clumsy smile, squeezing his hand.
A loud noise and an earthquake distracted them as they moved to a park nearby.
"An earthquake? That's unusual" Luka said, catching Marinette for the third time of the day. "Marinette?"
'I'm ok! I just tripped". Luka's hands surrounding her were making her knees weak. "Thank you".
âClumsy as ever. Youâre so cuteâ he casually commented, making Marinette's face flush red. "I haven't properly introduced myself, right? My name is Luka Couffaine. I'm 19 and I'm studying at that music conservatoire across the park. What's your full name, Marinette? How old are you?"
"My name is Marinette Dupain-Cheng. I'm 17 years old. I'm in my last year of lycée..." She shyly said.
"Dupain-Cheng...?" Luka blinked twice, remembering. "Oh, like the bakery, of course! The best in Paris. That's why you smell so sweet. My sister is a faithful customer of yours" he fondly smiled.
"She is? I help at the counter sometimes, maybe I know her?" Her curiosity showed.
"Her name is Juleka. Your same age. Purple long hair, red eyes, goth clothes. Sometimes accompanied by a little short-haired blond girl with a high-pitched voice..."
"No way! She's your sister?" She exclaimed in surprise. "Of course I know her! She's so beautiful I'm always distracted staring at her that she has to repeat her order at least twice for me to finally catch it. She's kind enough not to mind it⊠Wow! I wish I had known she was your sister" she regretted a little.
"Yes, she's beautiful. But I think you're beautiful too. And definitely cuter.  May I ask you what your aspirations are, Marinette? With studies, with meâŠ" Luka squeezed her hand, hopefully, waiting for her answer.
"I want to be a fashion designer... and I really like you⊠as for- really, really like you...â. she couldn't hide the blush on her face as she squeezed his hand back, reassuring Luka.
"Good. Because I really, really like you too, and I want to get to know you better, outside the metro, in our spare time. Would you like that? To date me⊠officially, I mean. As my girlfriend"
"Yes! I would love that... That's exactly what I want" Marinette smiled.
"Great" he stole one quick kiss from her, which she happily accepted. âWhat do you want to do? Is there anywhere you want to go?â
"Could I-⊠I would like to hear you play your guitar" she shyly asked.
Luka smiled widely. "Ok. I'll let you hear the first part of the song you inspired me to compose"
"You composed a song about me? Really?" Her eyes were opened in surprise and Luka giggled at her reaction.
"You made a big impact on me, Marinette. The way you literally fell on me after tripping at the stairs⊠how your feet tap impatiently at the floor, the way you stick your tongue out when you draw⊠You're adorable"
"How do you know that? You're never looking at me⊠you always look away at the glassâŠ"
"I'm always looking at you. See?â he signaled at his black smartphone screen. âThe window glass in the dark shows a reflection. I like to look at you from that reflection. I didn't want you to think I don't have shame for staring too much. I'm misunderstood enough with my appearance to make it even worseâŠ" he explained.
"You were looking at me!? I didn't notice... I feel so stupid nowâŠ" she mumbled, covering her face with her hands.
"You're sweet, Marinette. And I really like that part of you." Luka smiled at her reaction. âLet me play you your songâ He smiled, taking his guitar out of the case and strumming the strings of his guitar to create a sweet melody Marientte carefully listened to.
Suddenly, Marinette's phone vibrated, interrupting Lukaâs song. "My parents! 5 missed calls!? Oh, no! They might know Iâve skipped school!"
"It's ok, Marinette. I'll take all the responsibility for that. You better answer the phone. I have a bad feeling..." Luka sounded alerted, and it showed when he didn't take his hand off her shoulder, as if he had to keep her close to protect her.
"Marinette!?" The voice at the other side of the line called in panic.
"Mom? I'm sorry I know I should be in class and-"
"Oh, Marinette! I'm so relieved! Are you ok? Are you injured anywhere?"
"Hm? No? What's going on?" Marinette blinked, confused.
At that moment, a big explosion followed, and a great amount of black smoke lifted to the sky.
Luka left his guitar to the side to hold Marinette as they stared in terror, unable to move, in silence. "No wayâŠ" he gasped, showing Marinette the column of smoke that rose from a few streets away. A Cataclysm- Chat Noir- Luka figured out moments later by checking the news on his phone. Marinette gasped and dropped her phone on the floor, speechless. Both of them got shivers at one though: Marinette would most likely be dead by now if Luka hadn't taken her with him.
Luka understood then the voice in his head: 'save her'. And he had done it. If destructive magic as âCataclysmâ existed, other magic could exist too. He was very lucky, he realized. Luka held Marinette closer as she stared at the big fire some streets away for some minutes. Alarms and ambulances increased, and Luka felt the urge to go help, but he didnât want to leave Marinette alone.
"It's ok, Marinette. I've got you. I won't let you get hurtâ he reassured her. âI'll take you home. Classes are cancelled and youâll be safer there" he offered her his hand, but she strongly grabbed his arm instead, scared and shocked 'I would be dead if it wasn't for Luka'
Marinette was terrified, but at the same time, she felt the same as Luka: she wanted to help. "Luka, let's go. Maybe we can help somehow" she suggested.
"It could be dangerous, Marinette. I donât want to put you under risk"
"I know. But I can't stay here watching when I could be helpful instead". She gulped in determination and fear.
Luka was astonished. "Ok, but we're not going to expose ourselves to much danger. I would hate it if you get hurt. Promise?" Marinette nodded shyly. "Let's go!"
________________________
The new couple did what they could: Luka escorted people to the ambulances and helped to extinguish small fires, while Marinette helped the medical team and offered first aid to some of the victims. Luka made sure to never lose sight of her. She was tiny but strong, and Luka felt admiration and fascination. The teenage girl couldn't help but feel the same towards Luka's bravery as he helped people around non-stop. After a few minutes, more ambulances arrived and they left the rest to the professionals. Instead of going home right away, they first accompanied the old couple they met before at the metro to the hospital. They had passed out from smoke inhalation, but thankfully they could recover thanks to the teenagers help. "Thank youâŠ" the Chinese old man thanked them when he recovered, and they sighed in relief.
When they stepped out of the hospital and observed the smoke column from before, they paralyzed in fear: the smoke had turned into letters, whose message could be clearly read: âThis is just the beginningâ. The couple got shivers at the threatening warning and Marinette couldnât stop some tears from spilling from her eyes. On the other hand, Luka, worried and scared, swore to himself he would protect his girlfriend Marinette no matter what.
It was midday when they walked to the bakery, in silence. Marinette was trembling, in shock from the recent events and Luka made sure to keep holding her hand tightly. Her parents were waiting for her outside their bakery and desperately ran to hug their daughter as soon as they saw her.
âMarinette! Iâm so glad youâre ok!â the mother cried. âI was so worriedâŠâ
âItâs thanks to Luka, mom. He saved my lifeâ the teenager mumbled in gratitude, signaling them her boyfriend.
"Thank you for saving my daughter!" The Chinese woman exclaimed, hugging him in a grateful manner.
Luka could only nod and say to Marinette âIâll come to see you tomorrowâ before leaving. The thought of how she could have been dead by now if he hadnât intervened never abandoning his head.
Later, when Luka returned home, he found an unknown hexagonal box on his bed. The same box also lay on the table in Marinette's room. Both of them examined their respective boxes, and from the moment they opened them onward, and the mysterious creatures explained themselves, they realized that the âlifeâ and âloveâ saved that day came with a price needed to be paid back as superheroes under certain mandatory rules: superheroes until the defeat of Chat Noir and the rest of Parisâ villains.
And if Luka and Marinette were already starting something new, the events of that day tied them together forever.
A Recorded Life Sequel (8/10) - Miraculous Ladybug
Words: 1912 Summary: On this special day, Marinette and Adrien celebrate Alya and Nino along with a bunch of their friends and family with a nice video. Authorâs Note: Ahhh this was fun. Sorry for such a long hiatus! School and writer's block has been killing me, but we're finishing off strong! Also, this is about Alya and Nino's wedding. I tried to stick to the research I found on French wedding traditions, but I'm sure I westernized some of it so I tried to leave out ~too many~ details about the actual wedding.Â
Prev / Next / Masterlist
Alya and Ninoâs Big Day
---
"Hi! I'm Marinette!" Marinette held her camera in front of her, and there was chaos all around the room. "I'm hoping you can hear me over all the chatter and excited squeals, but there's a good reason for them!" Marinette said and turned the camera to show her best girl-friends and some of Alya's family. "It's Alya's wedding day!" She shouted, to which all the other girls screamed in excitement.
She turned the camera back around to her face, and Alya rushed over to stand by her with a big smile on her face. "And Alya asked me to vlog it for all our fans, but mostly for herself to have in the future. I even equipped Adrien with his own camera to record the boys in their room."
"It's bright and early here in Paris in the Le Grand Paris Hotel, thanks to Chloé and her dad for letting us throw our wedding here!" Alya said. "Before we start getting ready, I think we should show off the whole bridal party," Alya suggested.
Around the room, girls were doing their hair and chatting, excited to all be back together and celebrating such a fun and important event. "Obviously, Mari is here and is my right-hand. I think American's call it maid-of-honor, and I think that's close enough to what she is," Alya tried to explain. There was, for good reason, a lot of French-speaking going on in this video, but also a good amount of English to make things easier for her viewers. However, Marinette didn't mind making the captions. Alya started to lead her around the room to make sure everyone had a moment to shine on the video. And she even asked Adrien to do the same for the boys and Nino, since she was sure Nino would probably forget.
Alya and Nino decided they wanted to have bridesmaids and groomsmen at their wedding, even if tradition went against that, but they really wanted to feature their friends. Not all the girls in the room were bridesmaids; she just wanted to celebrate with all her friends even if they aren't in the wedding entirely. They can still have a party!
Alya showed off her three sisters and mother and Nino's mother first, then started to get into her friends. She had two friends from work and University that she's known for a few years now, along with a ton of her friends from school.
Rose, Juleka, Alix, Myléne, and Sabrina got a few seconds to talk each, and they also weren't in the wedding, but were so excited to be attending and celebrating with her. They just enjoyed seeing Alya and getting ready for her big day with her, too.
After the events of Hawkmoth, Chloé and Alya got a lot closer, and Alya was happy to have Chloé with her on her wedding day. Every so often, they fight crime together, but they've kept up a friendship between Alya, Chloé, and Marinette that no one expected to go as far as it had. Especially since Alya gets to write articles and interview Chloé sometimes depending on what her career takes her to next. Marinette has even designed some exclusive outfits for her! And Chloé was so excited about the wedding she let Alya and Nino throw it at The Hotel at a pretty low price. Hell, even their Kwamis were out and talking to each other in the closet to celebrate.
After showing off all her friends, Alya pulled the camera back to her. "Now we have to get ready for the ceremony. I'm sure I'll steal the camera and take some b-roll, or I'll make Marinette take some," She promised. "And I told Marinette she could record at the ceremony a bit with a tri-pod, since she'll be standing next to me," Alya declared. "Or maybe I can give a camera to another person," She pondered, and started to walk away to her mother calling her over.
Marinette laughed a bit and signed off from this segment. "There will be a lot of footage; she has no need to worry," Marinette said, then Alya called for her. "I am being summoned. Here's where Adrien's footage should come in, then we'll see you at the ceremony!" Marinette said, and ended her recording for now.
For the boys, it was a bit more chaotic in their room. Adrien was trying to get some videos, but Nino was freaking out about his shoes. He was sure he was going to lose something, and when he first woke up, he thought his phone was missing. It was on the floor. Then it turned to him losing his jacket, which was just behind another almost identical jacket, and now it was his shoes. Adrien knew they would show up in a few minutes, but Nino was super nervous (for a good reason), and it was apparent his nervousness was hiding in losing some items.
Adrien was able to distract Nino for a few minutes for him to talk about the special day, then Adrien moved into showing off all their friends. Nino's brother and dad, Alya's dad, and their friends from school. Ivan, Kim, and Max said some nice things about Nino and Alya, and even Luka was there to celebrate with them.
As Adrien was talking to the group, Nino was in the background that he found his shoes. "What do you guys think he's going to lose next?" Adrien asked them, and they all agreed that it would be his tie.
They were right, and Adrien was back to trying to calm Nino down and that he had checked over everything hundreds of times, so how would Nino have lost things? Even Adrien and both Nino and Alya's dads double-checked everything for Nino, but he was still convinced he'd mess something up. Adrien ended his segment of the video pretty quickly because he needed to deal with calming Nino down and getting ready, but everyone got to talk to the camera at least a little bit.
---
For the record, Nino ended up not losing anything besides his mind when he saw Alya standing in front of him. Marinette and Adrien stood beside Alya and Nino, along with their siblings, as the ceremony went on. One of the cameras was set up on a tripod to catch a wide-angle, and the other was given to another friend to get some close-ups.
Alya and Nino forewent some traditions, but kept a lot of them, too. She had a grand entrance, but they all got ready at the hotel to make it easy. They also really wanted to have their best friends and siblings standing with them just to make things extra special. They had all their friends and family for the ceremony, and it was a pretty big wedding.
It had been such a long time coming for them to get married; they wanted to go all out. Alya and Nino live such busy lives; they deserve the big wedding and big party. And everyone was excited to see them get married after being engaged for so many years, but it was all worth it in the end.
A few hours after the ceremony, it was time for the partyâlots of dancing, a big meal, and delicious desserts catered by Sabine and Tom. Nino put together some music for the party, though they also hired one of his DJ friends to round it all out so Nino wasn't constantly focusing on the music, and one of Alya's journalist friends was the photographer they hired. In addition to Marinette's video, there would be tons of photos to remember the day.
Alya made sure to talk to everyone there, thanking them for coming and catching up with people. Sam with Nino, but Alya was a bit more on top of it.
"This is perfect for them," Marinette said to Adrien as they got away from the crowd.
"They really deserve it," Adrien responded, so happy and so proud of his friends. "You should have seen how stressed Nino was this morning. I wasn't able to take much video because of it."
Marinette laughed. "Alya said he would be stressing over a lot of little things. But that's okay, as long as you got some, I think they'll be happy."
Before either of them could continue the conversation, they were cut off by a few of their friends coming over for a chat. They talked about the wedding and why no one has seen Adrien recently; he's been a bit busy rebranding his company.
As Marinette and Adrien mingled around, they ran into another familiar face. "When is your wedding?" Jagged Stone asked as he spotted the two. Marinette was both a bit surprised and yet not surprised that he was there; Nino and he developed a good friendship after going on tour together a few times.
"Jagged, you can't just ask that," Penny scolded.
"Oh, yes, I can," He said. "When's the wedding?"
Marinette shook her head at him. "We're a bit busy with our careers right now. And we like what we've got; we're not in a rush," Marinette explained.
"But don't worry, you'll be the first person we send an invite to," Adrien promised.
"I better be!" Jagged joked.
Marinette looked between Jagged and Penny. "Did you guys get your invitation to the Emilie's fashion show? I was going to follow up, but like I said, we've been super busy."
"We did! We're clearing my schedule to make sure I can be here for it, but we definitely will be," Jagged declared. "Just got a few things to move around."
"Great! We're excited for it, though a bit nervous," Adrien told him.
Jagged brushed off his nervousness and reminded him that he had no reason to be nervous; this fashion show was only going to make things better. It might've calmed Adrien down for a few minutes, but he was still stressing out.
After Jagged made his way out of the conversation to go talk to some other people, Marinette pulled her camera out to get some shots of the whole crowd. She got almost everyone to give Alya and Nino a small, few seconds, message each to put at the end of the video to make sure that Alya and Nino would see how excited everyone was for them.
Finally, to end out the video, she managed to catch Alya and Nino in a moment of peace. "Anything you would like to add to your video?" Marinette asked them.
"Yes," Alya said. "I know I said it earlier, but I'm so glad we've stuck together after all these years and all the ups and downs. It's been so worth it, and now it's going to be for the rest of our lives," Alya said and kissed Nino before he could respond to it.
Once they released, Nino turned back to the camera. "I totally agree. With us being so busy, it's been a little hard on our relationship, but I'm glad we've pushed through. I love you!" Nino ended it.
Marinette had both of them wave to the video, and it faded out of them talking to a video of them slow dancing in the middle of the room with a song Nino made for Alya. It was a perfect day for them, and all their friends were there to celebrate, and now it was saved forever in a video.
