actually that ao3 post about calculating kudos-to-hits ratios to decide if a fic is worth reading has me so pissed off. someone put real time and energy into something they are SHARING WITH YOU FOR FREE on a site where you can quite literally filter and search by anything you want and you're STILL trying to find a foolproof method to find stuff that's "good enough to read"???

YOU ARE NOT THE TARGET AUDIENCE FOR EVERYTHING

you don't have to like or read everything in a given fandom or tag, but you also don't have to be a cunt about it and imply that it's not worth reading. this is the kind of shit that moves people to stop creating altogether, and to see people agreeing in the tags is so disheartening. absolutely unserious behavior.

Not to out myself as someone that’s been on tumblr for too long, but I’m so sad to see this new trend of people saying “I like this thing, even though the show isn’t airing anymore.” Like? That’s how things work! Keep enjoying them! Art doesn’t just vanish when it’s not airing, and it wasn’t made to be exclusively viewed live! 10+ years ago, the idea of saying “Ah, I’m still here in this fandom 2 years after the show was cancelled 😳” would have been BONKERS!

Literally how? How do I not fall head over heels for the one person who looked all my insecurities and flaws in the eyes and said: “you deserve to be happy regardless.” I legitimately can’t see a world where I both met this person and did not slowly mold my life around being as close to them as possible. I’ve never really known anyone who is willing to take me the way I am, I’m always too cringy or talk too much or too annoying. But I can tell them anything and be sure there’ll be no judgement. I can unpack my whole damn psyche and they will tell me I’m doing good with the hand I’ve been delt, of course neither of us pretend the other is perfect, but judgement is so far from their mind. It’s just a safety I’ve never felt before. I can’t stop trying to feel more of it.
