My favourite trope has to be:

I sacrificed myself to save you. I didn't plan to survive. I burnt all the bridges. I intended to break your heart with my death, but that would be all right, because I wouldn't be around to see you. I pretended that you'll mourn me for a while and move on. I convinced myself I was going down in the blaze of glory. That my deed was appreciated. That everything was going to be all right afterwards, and I didn't need to be there to see it.

But I survived. And now I have to look you in the eye. I have to pick up the pieces of the life I shattered and figure out how to put it back together. If it can be done at all.

- More info: Essentially the same scene with Katara, except with the reader, it took WAY longer for her to forgive him, because their interaction in the crystal catacombs was borderline romantic, and so Zuko’s betrayal only stung more. But even though you’ve FORGIVEN him, you’ve vowed to only be his friend.

Until Zuko is suddenly throwing himself in front of you, recklessly risking his life to save your own… 👀🥲

• Damon Salvatore: ✨ Friends! AU: Your bright smile wins him over.

- More Info: Essentially, you both meet at a party, and he tries to flirt with you like he does all women. But instead of either giving in or glaring and stomping away, you just subtly sidestep his flirting while giving him a bright smile and having a genuine conversation with him. It annoys him how quickly your lack of fear and bubbly attitude endears you to him. Lol. 😂

You proudly say that you and him are now “brooding buddies” that will always have someone to talk to at every party. This only annoys him more, because you actually get him to fucking laugh.

It’s fun to fake going for a bite at your neck when you’re not looking to scare Stefan, his brother, but the annoying truth is his heart could never take hurting his new human friend.

And maybe, something more than friends one day… 👀💓

My biggest hope for the Mighty Nein animated series is that they capture the tone correctly and don't use the same tone for TMN that they used for TLOVM.

I thought the tone in TLOVM was great for Vox Machina, it was littered with Scanlan style adult humor that suited the adult-style comedy/drama very well but I dont think that exact same tone would work well for the Mighty Nein.

Even though TMN had dirty humor, I think it's style of humor was different than TLOVM. Sex scene cut-aways and projectile vomiting, over the top gore and poop humor throwaway gags I don't think would hit the way for TMN as it does in TLOVM even though it exists in TMN.

I think that in the way that TLOVM is framed around Scanlan style humor, I think TMN is framed around Jester humor- which is still dirty, but sillier and a bit more naive and familiar that fits the mature tone of TMN much better than the throwaway humor of TLOVM.

And i'm sure TMN will be gore-y too but sometimes the gore in TLOVM was over the top in a way that detracted from some of the major villain deaths and made them less impactful when compared to some disposable npc whose skull gets exploded in a few scenes prior. What I mean is that I hope it's gore-y where it counts. Like Caleb crushing the guards while storming the sanitarium in rage and vengeance is not as impactful if everyone dies in a similar fashion all the time, if you know what I mean?

Jack & Joker - Episode 5

I need to post this scene in its entirety, it’s just so so good.

Joker gets beat up while others are forced to watch, and he doesn’t try to fight back. He’s hit on the head with a bottle that practically knocks him out. The pain in his face, spitting out blood, the eye fluttering, the way he can barely talk in his weakened state on the ground...

He is barely conscious when they call his love interest, Jack, to taunt him as they injure Joker more. They move and play with Joker like he's a puppet. Jack is forced to watch him get punched and sees him cough up blood in pain, barely being able to talk or sit up.

Recently started watching Miraculous Ladybug (for the first time) and I'm at the zombie episode in season 2. Except, the "infection" is people growing obsessed with "spreading love" by kissing all the non-infected. Which makes for a very innocent and bloodless zombie apocalypse, but it does have every zombie trope in existence in a 20-ish minute episode and I LOVE THAT!

Love it when each member of a team is a self-sacrificing idiot so when they're all captured and Whumper says the only way out is for one of them to be brutally tortured they pretty much compete who "gets" to be the one going through that because none of them can handle the thought of letting any of the others do it.

Obsessed with how Claudia and Soren view magic.

Claudia views magic as something amazing and special, even dark magic despite having to ‘harvest’ from living creatures in order to use it. Because in the end how could something that helps her friends and family be bad? How could something that saved an entire kingdom from starvation be evil?

Soren meanwhile doesn’t care about dark magic vs primal magic. In his eyes Dark magic can be used for immense good just as much as Primal magic can be used for horrific evils. At the end of the day all magic has ever done is divide people and cause years of suffering.

But they are both such hypocrites (affectionate).

Claudia views dark magic as a gift, something to take pride in having. But when she is finally broken down she reflects back she feels disgusted at herself for viewing living creatures as parts. Then when pushed into a dangerous situation she cried out “Don’t make me! Don’t make me do dark magic!”

Soren believes the world would be better without magic at all. Yet he turned to it, he looked his father in his eyes and said “You have your other way! Dark magic.” Not caring that Viren explained the original spell was a primal spell and the new spell would require a terrible sacrifice.

to me, their romance was always a puppy love born out of a combination of social pressures, naïve curiosity, and a lack of true understanding regarding intimacy and romantic love and what it really is. it was real in that they do truly, deeply care about each other and they are close friends, maybe even shared an attraction, but a maturing romance is so much more than that. they've grown up and out of being boyfriend/girlfriend, and that's okay! i think television/film needs to show more often that most of us don't have definite "soulmates" or first childhood loves that we spend our whole lives with. it doesn't mean these relationships meant nothing and didn't impact us, it just means they've run their course and that something else is in the cards, and this is part of life!

i've always felt el was at her best and most confident self when broken up with mike, discovering who she was and what she liked alongside another girl her age instead of just relying on mike for mentorship on how to live in the real world. she deserves more of an opportunity to find herself, her autonomy, and her independence, and to love who she is, and she's made it clear she's felt insecure in the relationship with mike because she isn't being loved and understood the way she wants, needs, and deserves from someone who is her partner.

also, it's okay if mike doesn't love her in "the way he should". he is not obligated to love her romantically and stay in a relationship with her just because she's a girl, because she "needed someone", or because he cares about her a lot. he shouldn't be pressured into a romance if it's not truly coming from his heart. he deserves freedom to find out and honour who he is, too, instead of just staying in his non-functional first relationship — one he got into as a child, essentially — and defining himself that way because it's what's expected when a boy and a girl are close. he loves her in some way, yes, but it's okay if he doesn't feel comfortable or secure being her boyfriend anymore, for whatever reason that is. he's felt insecure too, and that's valid and it matters.

they are their own people and are steadily growing and changing every day. they need time to figure out who those people are, and it's become clear (at least in my opinion) that those people aren't meant to be a couple at this stage.

they deserve freedom. they deserve to grow up and be authentic to themselves and not feel like they need to lie for the sake of a relationship. they deserve to move on from this version of their relationship that isn't making them happy and rekindle the best part of their bond: their strong, beautiful friendship. they don't have to be a couple if it doesn't make them stronger and better and happier people.

i think it would be healthy and wonderful for a show, especially one consumed frequently by young adults, to show a relationship starting, progressing, and ending on good terms in this way. sometimes things don't work out, and that is okay.

Sacrificial Lamb Whump.

Whumpee has finally resigned themselves to doing what has to be done. Whether this means severe punishment or death to even a religious institutional balance or to save a nation, they finally accept it, despite their innocence. The stoic, stubborn, proud mask of the past few years has vanished and they are now meek and silent, being marched through the crowded streets to their doom. Their friends and comrades follow, silently weeping or brooding at the unfairness of it all, enraged that they cannot by law intervene. And that they have to watch their friend suffer until it is over.

If the act doesn’t result in death—some ideas:

Wings getting cut off ceremonially. (I love this one).

Ceremonial scourging/branding.

Magical torture.

Losing a limb, organ, or other sense/body part.

Being forced to do something humiliating in front of everyone. Multiple ways that could go. (Being forced to strip naked for the sacrifice, having their ‘sins’ read out loud, etc etc)

Being forced to now ‘bless’ each and every person in line with their blood, marking it on their foreheads as they queue for hours and hours. Whumpee is exhausted and swaying on their feet. Often they nearly collapse and the priests on either side drag them to their feet to finish the task.

Finally, when all is said and done, Whumpee’s friends—who have been counting the seconds down to midnight or whatever and impatiently pushing against the guards for that final moment—- are finally able to rush on the platform to their comrade’s aid and catch them as they fall one last time. Whumpee, usually so strong and dependable, collapses helplessly against them, shaking violently, tears of pain and exhaustion and humiliation streaming down their face. Everything hurts. The slightest movement causes them to cry out and struggle weakly. The friends are desperate, begging whumpee to stay with them, promising that it’s going to be alright.

They stay there, holding whumpee, trying to think of a way to move them to safety, while the cold-hearted clerics move about the platform doing ritual cleansing and completely ignoring them. The sacrifice is done. Whumpee doesn’t matter to them anymore.

Any other ideas/add-ons/inspiration would be greatly appreciated. I’m on a huge writers block rn.
