"What's better, magic fatigue or magic euphoria?" HOW ABOUT BOTH-

When magic feels SO GOOD to use that it encourages the user to wear themselves out so much faster just to feel good again.

Nosebleeds, headaches, bone-deep exhaustion, blistering fevers and delirium all feel like such minor prices to pay for the high that came over them when they used just the right spark of magic.

(Of course these symptoms are not actually minor at all. Magic depletes and/or changes the body in such volatile ways, and to such extents that nothing else can ever reach.

And perhaps the rush of euphoria helps to deaden the victims' sense so they don't realize the change...)

Concerned friends, teammates, etc. try to get the character to stop using magic, don't you see what it's doing to you - and character fights them so hard. You don't understand. It feels good, I have to feel it again!

An enemy/antagonist knows this and manipulates character into using/expelling a great amount of magic, takes advantage of their spacey, dazed high in order to capture them. Hardly has to do much to keep them imprisoned when the exhaustion sets in and they're so weak that they can't even stand.

Magic-users have literally burnt themselves out or become completely senseless in pursuit of the euphoria that comes with magic, which makes for another reason it's so dangerous.

Idk where I'm going with this I just had thoughts.

Qian gets another bloody nose, this time in front of his worried friend.

Qian’s vision starts darkening and he passes out on the living room floor. His friend San Pang finds finds him and wants to call his loved ones about his condition. Qian begs him not to tell anyone.

Qian ends up in the hospital as a result of sickness and is starting to get more headaches and flashbacks. Yuan scolds him for not resting in bed.

Yuan finds out Qian is sick and takes care of him. He experiences more flashbacks about his mom (TW drug abuse).

Qian is the quintessential stoic, strong, hardworking whumpee who doesn’t like to show pain or weakness. He carries all of the burdens alone so his household can have a good life.

I need to post this scene in its entirety, it’s just so so good.

Joker gets beat up while others are forced to watch, and he doesn’t try to fight back. He’s hit on the head with a bottle that practically knocks him out. The pain in his face, spitting out blood, the eye fluttering, the way he can barely talk in his weakened state on the ground...

He is barely conscious when they call his love interest, Jack, to taunt him as they injure Joker more. They move and play with Joker like he's a puppet. Jack is forced to watch him get punched and sees him cough up blood in pain, barely being able to talk or sit up.

Let Free the Curse of Taekwondo - Episode 2

"Hey. What's wrong? What happened? Did someone beat you up? Hey, hey!"

Juyeong shows immediate concern when he realizes that Dohoe is limping as he walks towards him and then he catches him when he stumbles/almost falls from all the pain. The way he asks "Who did it? Did those bastards hit you?" is perfection as a caretaker, the way he worries over poor Dohoe is precious. A+ scene for me.
