You know something I do like, and have been doing a little in my fics right now, is making Arthur like an anchor to Merlin when he leans a little too dark.

Like Arthur knowing about Merlin's magic situations, either in a Canon Era fic or Arthur Returns fic it's likeee, Arthur just being someone to be able to cut in with a hard "Merlin" or like a heavy hand on his shoulder, or both, and being able to stop Merlin from doing something incredibly dark (and/or stupid) is like yes, mmm yummy, yes exactly

And like you can do it both ways, Merlin is much of an anchor for Arthur in this sense in the show. Like with Odin in S5Ep4.

But yeah I just love it, I just love Arthur being able to pull Merlin back and say no. Just keep him from hurdling off the edge straight into a darkness he can't come back from, yes <3

My Favorite Kitchen Nightmares (US) episodes. Just put in order of seasons and episodes. These are all completely free on YT. YES, it has all the dramatic music and ridiculous cuts bc it is the 'Murica version. Leave me alone, I grew up with this version.

Peter's [S1EP1] Bro is a giant baby who acts like he's in The Godfather. Turns out, he actually was in the mafia and was a made member of the Bonanno Family before being kicked out of that family and disowned by his real family. All of that is discovered after the episode, but knowing it going into it makes it a little funnier. Also, the best line: "You fuckin' blowjob! You're a fuckin' blowjob!" One of the most Italian episodes on the show.

Sebastian's [S1EP6] Him and his damn "concept" sucking his wife's bank account dry while he dreams of making a franchise off his name one day. Runs up on Ramsay who's like, "What's up?" Also, calls mommy and daddy after a single critique from Gordon. Gold from beginning to end.

Luigi's D'Italia [S5EP4] Grace. I had a literal crush on Grace when I first saw this. She's the best and to be honest, her husband kind of has her back in a really great way lmao. A lot of yelling and also, if the name wasn't obvious, another deeply Italian episode lmao.

Mill Street Bistro [S6EP11 + EP12] Deluded man thinks he's better than the area he's in and talks down to everyone despite having the "common sense" to put raw onions in a soup. This one is great because there's a part where Gordon is tearing him the fuck up and the staff is listening in and feeling vindicated. Very punchable man who gets flustered very easily dealing with Gordon.

Amy's Baking Company [S6EP16] You just have to watch it. Don't look up anything about it before you watch it. I saw it when it was new and it is just bizarre from start to atypical finish.

@hannahofathousanddays I can post more coherent thoughts when I’m not at work but basically I am liking it a lot! I love stories about abuse and fucked up families and the entire “family is hell” premise of the show is very compelling to me. As I said, I also think they’re doing insane things with the subtext.

Anyway I also find the show very interesting as a narrative that seems to be highly in conversation with Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and ultimately a much more coherent and even handed story for uh… five seasons anyway. I know it famously gets run into the ground but as of where I am, it goes really hard.

Also apparently I cannot recognize Jared Padalecki if you put a gun to my head

It’s worse because literally on the last episode I watched like two weeks ago (S5ep4!) and we see a hypothetical future version of Sam that’s been possessed by the devil, I was like “oh lol I like that they gave him stupid sideburns to let us know he’s evil.” And then present day Sam shows up and I realized he’s had those sideburns all along I just still don’t know what he fucking looks like 😭😭
