Man I have so many thoughts on the Seraphim and since it's been over a year since their introduction I've had a lot more of them but overall I kinda.. feel bad for them, more than anything else?
No matter how powerful or scary or cool they are, one thing always remains the most important and unforgettable aspect of them.
They're sentient. They're sapient. They're aware and alive. They're people.
Not just people. But children.
They're just children.
And they have to grapple with being the crossover of two terrible things to be.
A clone of someone else, who's life has already been lived and decided by their own terms, and forced to follow it to the letter, and having no fundamental identity independent of them. only footprints of memories that aren't even their own, purely for the purpose of making them better fighters. How can they be anything more than simple variations or derivatives of "real" people? Can they even consider themselves "real"?
A pacifista. A human weapon. No agency. No humanity. Stripped of everything from will to dreams to freedom to even self-expression and forced to follow commands and never ask questions. Like a soldier. Like less than a soldier. Like a tool.
Like a gun.
Vegapunk said that Kuma's lack of free will would force him to obey, even if they asked him to murder a child. But he originally had free will to begin with. Kuma's life as PX-0, a sentient being with no will of his own, nothing more than a passenger in his own body is a nightmare. S-Bear has known nothing but that nightmare since birth.
People said that Doflamingo was born evil, but in reality, his life was shaped by the events he lived through more than anyone in-universe wants to admit. I wonder how S-Flamingo must feel, forced to carry on Doflamingo's legacy as a monster to the core, regardless of how monstrous he himself might or might not be. i wonder if the pressure of being the clone of a demon will cause a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Hancock's worldwide status was one even she did not want. It was a curse she herself learned to turn into a weapon. S-Snake does not even get the privilege of encountering OR weaponizing the curse herself. Already forced into the limelight without warning, and the eyes won't leave. Everyone already treating her like a celebrity, without a chance to even know what it was like to be a person first.
All she can do now is follow the same government that traumatized her origin and forced her to destroy her home.
Similarly, what of S-Hawk? Moreso than any seraph, any creation of the World Government, surely all eyes are on him to succeed. to be the strongest of the Seraphim and a symbol of total global safety. The world's strongest swordsman, new and improved, right? And what if he isn't? What if he's not as strong as Mihawk? What if he never is? What if he can't do it?
And what if he does? What if he ends up even worse than his origin: a bored god sitting on an empty throne with an empty title, with no one left to challenge him?
Jinbei wanted nothing in the world more than discrimination towards Fish-Men and Merfolk to end, to the degree he'd stake his life on it without hesitation. I wonder how S-Shark, a tool of the World Government, partly born from a race nearly extinguished by them, and forced to uphold their fascist, discriminatory rule against his will feels.
If Crocodile's secret is indeed his transgender identity, then what does that mean for S-Croc? At least Crocodile got the opportunity to keep it under wraps, even if some people do know. S-Croc will never get that opportunity, ever. the whole world on him from birth. Will they even let him be.. him? or will they force him to live in a body and identity that not only isn't even his own, but isn't anybody's at all?
and if it isn't, sure! I suppose he won't have to worry about that. but what of his intelligence? his own ambitions? It's said that Crocodile's greatest attribute was his mind, but the seraphim aren't allowed to break from the orders of others or formulate strategies, so S-Croc would be forced to take orders from people less experienced or intuitive. The footprints of a forgotten dream of wealth, fame, power, and freedom still sputter in his chest. A natural-born leader, forced into the role of lowly weapon, emptily paraded as a hero. How pitiful.
And S-Gecko? Always the runt. The last one. The weakest of the bunch. The world government never cared enough to hide their disdain and contempt for Moria. I can't imagine this won't bleed into how they treat S-Gecko. No matter how hard he works, being treated as nothing more than the worst of the best. Being equated to nothing but failure because his origin was one and constantly put down as "obligatory" and only existing at all because they couldn't get a better warlord to clone instead. Sure, he's not traumatized by the loss of his crew like Moria was.
But at least Moria had a crew.
The Seraphim are scary, and they're powerful. They're not naturally-born organisms, and they're programmed to follow the words of the World Government, even if told to kill in cold blood.
But they're still people.
They're still alive.
They're just children.
For the love of Nika, they're only children.

I can't believe there are so few jokes about King miraculously fathering natural children by the original Seven Warlords of the Sea—six of whom are men—without any of them knowing.
A man as attractive as King could've repopulated the Lunarian race by himself through conventional methods but instead it came true thanks to cloning technology.

Decided to put a small portion of what I got done of that One Piece fic I mentioned in an earlier post. I'm mostly doing the fic for the fun of writing.
The Seraphim. Cyborgs made from the blood of the Shichibukai and the Last Lunarian. Intended as living weapons utterly loyal to the World Government. They are programmed with knowledge of their Warlord source and that source’s powers and abilities. Programming is a complex thing though, adding in how the living form likes to throw a wrench in the plans of many, and now the Seraphim have slowly gained their own sense of self.
S-Crocodile knows that compared to the other Seraphim she stood out. They all stood out in their own ways. S-Bat stood out due to his odd form. S-Shark is part Fishman. S-Bear is large yet very docile. S-Flamingo’s bombasticness, to put it one way. S-Hawk will freak out if you even just touch his sword. And don’t get her started on S-Snake, the only other female of their little group of Seraphim. Yet she feels like an odd one out.
The Warlord she is modeled after, Sir Crocodile, is a Logia user. Sadly, Logia’s aren’t a fruit that Doctor Vegapunk has figured out how to replicate. And more importantly to some, Crocodile is a man. How is she who she is? The other Seraphim matched their Warlord source, the main differences coming from their Lunarian side. So why is she different? Did Vegapunk make a mistake? Or is this intentional on the Doctor’s part?
She did not know for certain, none of the other Seraphim do, and asking the doctor or his assistants is tough, they are either distracted or change the topic. None of those that they have met from beyond Egghead can answer, for they are not privy to that information themselves. Snapping S-Crocodile from her thoughts, a voice sounded over the speaker system.
“All Seraphim report to the assembly area! Repeat! All Seraphim report to the assembly area!”

Expansion - One Piece Fanfic
Important Tags: Father Mihawk, Soft!Mihawk, Canon-Typical Violence Character(s): Crocodile, Mihawk, Buggy, Perona, Gecko Moria, S-Hawk, S-Wani, S-Bat Pairing(s): Perona & Mihawk, Perona & Moria, Minor Crocodile/Mihawk/Buggy
Summary: It's been some time since Crocodile's world turned upside down, and the cross guild throuple adopted two sons, and now another child of theirs is arriving on the island looking for a place to stay safe
This is part two in a series! While I do think this works as a standalone, I recommend reading Revelations first for context on what has happened before in the story
Warnings: While this is rated Teen as nothing is depicted in a graphic way, I mention the God Valley incident which was a genocide and Mihawk survives a massacre in which many people die. Not graphic, but upsetting

Title: Makeover
Fandom: One Piece
Rating: T
Content warnings: misgendering, canon-typical violence
Characters: Hina, S-Crocodile, S-Bat (Crocodile’s and Moria’s Seraphim)
Ship: none
Prompt used : Restraining Bolt
Summary: Hina tries to bond with the living weapons placed under her care.
Excerpt:
“This is an authority chip,” Kizaru said, holding up the device. “It makes you, what do the kids call it these days? The daddy.”
“The kids don’t call it that,” Sentomaru said, with a weariness that suggested they’d had this argument before.
“You give them an order while you’re holding this, hmm? And they’ll obey. Scratch your nose, children.”
The Seraphim complied, some with more visible reluctance than others. The one with the plaid trousers stuck out his tongue. Kizaru slid the authority chip across the table to Hina. “Why don’t you try it? Be the daddy.”
She took the device and turned it between her fingers. Everyone’s eyes were glued to her, waiting. “Say hello,” she said helplessly.
“Hello,” said six childish voices at once. A seventh, louder voice accompanied them from the other side of the door.
“We’ll start with an easy mission, Rear Admiral, hmm?” Kizaru said. “Something with low stakes, few chances of going wrong. We’ll be sending you to Opportunity Island. A smuggler’s den, though it’s abandoned at this time of the year. You will tell the Seraphim to destroy it.”
Hina dropped the chip and wiped her hands on her trousers. “Hina doesn’t like this,” she said. “It’s - it feels wrong.”
“I told you we’d run into this issue,” Tsuru told Kizaru.
“The age-old problem, isn’t it?” Kizaru said. “Those who can be trusted to wield this kind of power don’t want it. What’s wrong, Rear Admiral?”
The Seraphim inspected Hina, some with curiosity and some with indifference. “They’re too much like real children,” she admitted.
“Giving them the likeness of people was a bad idea,” Kizaru said, still staring off into space. “Glue some eyes on a rock and people will give it a name. Make your weapons look like children and people will want to braid their hair and buy them candy. But what can we do about it, hmm? The die has been cast. We need your help, Rear Admiral. What will happen if she doesn’t help us, Tsuru?”
“If good people refuse the job, bad people will end up doing it,” Tsuru muttered. At once, Hina understood that this was the argument that had convinced her.
“Be kind,” Kizaru said. “Treat them like people, if you must. It’s not so different from ordering cadets, isn’t it?”

"And? What did you decide on?" Duke asks, fork slipping from his mouth and chewing, focused on Danny.
The boy in question hums. "Oh yeah, I'm totally joining in on the nightlife."
The statement has all of them stopping in their tracks, blatantly staring at the still eating boy.
"This will be my emo arc, daylight vigilante turned dark."
Tim snorts, Jason gives a smirk, nudging the eldest sibling next to him from his frozen state.
"Ooooh," Steph leans forward. "Have you decided? Bat or Bird?"
"New name?" Cass jumps in on the questioning with a small smile, eyes crinkling.
"Will you be joining us tonight then, danyal?" His twin speaks up for the first time during dinner, eyes narrowed and calculating.
"Yes." Is the short reply, with the way damian's lips turn down and displeasure makes itself clear, the intention of giving such a short answer has been met.
"Danny," Bruce gains the attention, leaning forward with his fingers interlocked and brows furrowed with what must be worry.
"Are you sure? I don't want you to feel pressured into this just because everyone else is—"
"I'm more than sure, B!"
The man sighs. "And I won't be able to stop you?"
"Mhm." He gives a nod.
"Okay," his shoulders sag in defeat. "Do you have everything then—?"
"Yep!"
"Even—"
"B, I'm pretty sure I got everything, you can, if in your opinion I am missing something, give it to me later!"
Danny grins, pushing himself up from the table and rounding around towards the door.
"Besides! My whole get up will be a suprise!! So stay awake folks because I'm gonna blow ya all away."
As he leaves, Steph and Duke make sounds of anticipation, curiosity eating at all of them.
(They dont know whats gonna hit 'em.)
"I'm betting 50 bucks that he's gonna be a bat."
Alfred shakes his head at the newfound excitement.
What an exciting night.
There is still no sight of their newest, despite oracle's teasing, having apparently already been included in the suprise.
"Well well well," a sly, yet teasing voice makes itself into the open. Catwoman, in all her glory, walks up to the group of bats and birds.
"If it isn't the bat, what's with the gloomy face?"
Batman gives her a nod. "Cat."
Her eyes roam the group and she tilts her head. "Everyone seems to be here tonight." She comments.
"We're waiting," the man shares. "Our newest decided to be more secretive about his debut."
Catwoman gives him a smug smirk. "So I have heard," a chuckle. "I've come here to introduce you to someone, truthfully."
"Oh? Who is it?" Nightwing perks up, having finally decided to join in.
"Me."
Some yelp, whip their head around and away from the lady in black, gasps and cooing (particularly from steph) fill the roof and Danny joins them.
He wears black combat boots, they're heavy just from the look, but make no sound as he jumps around. The front of the boots look like cat paws, they're reaching up to his knees.
Then comes the baggy black pants, knees protected by poleyn and his belt acting as a cats tail. The hoodie he is wearing is also black, with fingerless gloves (only the middle finger is covered) and reaching up to his neck.
Instead of a domino mask, he wears a hood with cat ears and a dark face mask. Cass claps, knowing fully well he took inspiration from her own get up.
The whole outfit is detailed with orange spots, some parts brown and others grayish.
"Meet my new mentee, Calico."
Danny, Calico, waves.

It's bone-chilling how Imu calmly said a single word (chikai, meaning "close" and one of the most common words in Japanese) as an explanation for why they chose Lulusia as a testing ground for the Mother Flame. What a short but powerful display of Imu's cold cruelty.
Even the Five Elders were unnerved at Imu's decision to test a weapon of mass destruction on an entire island full of people.
The scene contained a panel showing the moment the Mother Flame destroys Lulusia from back in Chapter 1060 as Imu said "it's close". Does this mean Imu foresaw the effects of the Mother Flame using Observation Haki? That would make Imu even more cruel.
So we got the Seraphim of all the Seven Warlords of the Sea. I agree with fans Crocodile's Seraphim has stunning looks but I wonder why he looks depressed when Doflamingo and Moria's Seraphim are grinning.
The narration states Crocodile had appeared where the three Seraphim had been sent. Is he going to fight his own clone?

I realise I didn't share anywhere what the names I gave the Seraphim meant, when the meanings were a large reason I picked them!
Sorin is the name I gave to S-Croc, which means Sun. It felt right to give another of Croc's children a name related to the sun, and also this kid is the new light in Crocodile's life. The name is Romanian, and so linked to Mihawk.
Brannigan is the name I gave to S-Hawk, which means Little Raven. It only felt right to give a little Mihawk a bird related name. The name is Irish, to honour Crocodile, as the forename I've given to Crocodile is also Irish.
Lasiurus is the name I gave to S-Bat, and it's the name of a type of bat! Again, it felt thematic to give him a bat related name. It also reminded me of Lazarus, who is a character who came back to life, so felt thematic given Moria's whole thing.
And since I mentioned it here, the full name I gave Crocodile is Cargan Aasil Crocodile. Cargan is an Irish name meaning little rock, and sand is made of a lot of little rocks. Aasil is an Arabic name meaning 'to attack violently and persistently' and well that just had Crocodile written all over it
I'm quite pleased with all of them so far - I'll name the other Seraphim as they come about in the CG series

Danny had always wanted a brother...but not like this! And not so many either!
It had started when he was fighting Desiree. Everything was normal-well, as normal as fighting an undead genie could get-and then a kid fell out of a portal onto the rooftop next to them.
They both looked over at the kid as he picked himself up. Danny glared at the genie and she held her hands up in a placating gesture, "I swear it wasn't me this time." Judging by how she seemed just as baffled by the situation as him, he believed her.
The kid stared at them through the white outs of his mask. Danny stared down at him and yep. That was a superhero outfit. Complete with mask and cape. He quickly souped Desiree before she could pull anything and floated down to the kid, "Hey buddy-" he yelped and jumped out of the way of the kids sword.
Why does he have a sword?!
The kid didn't seem responsive to anything Danny was saying and Danny spent the next few minutes just dodging sword swipes until he managed to restrain him with one of his parents inventions and brought him home to FentonWorks and changed back into a human (away from the kids line of sight of course)
His friends were a bit shocked that he came home with a living person and he had to explain what happened while Stabby tried to wiggle out of his bonds.
That was when his parents walked in.
Danny had to retell them an altered version of the story from before and they began examining him. The kid was practically feral before his dad exclaimed, "I know!" And ran to the fridge and pulled out some of the Fenton Fudge.
He ran back over and popped it into the kids mouth before anyone could stop him. Everyone just stared as the kid calmed down, looking at them with confusion and wonder as the fudge melted in his mouth.
Aka Danny keeps getting Damian clones via portal delivery and his family keeps taming them with Fenton Fudge and adopting them. The League of Assassins have no idea where all thier clones are disappearing to...
