My beaded creations
Have I ever told you about my handcrafted beaded jewelry collection?
Don’t answer that, I know I haven’t.
Well, I’ve been making bracelets, necklaces, rings, and other stuff for years now, most of them inspired by things (such as games or movies) that I like, so I thought it would be nice to finally share and talk about my creations :)
Part 1: Seed beads
One of the first video game series I fell in love with, back when I was 14-15, was The Legend of Zelda. Of course, I had to make Zelda jewelry!
Hyrule Crest bracelet, made with gold and clear beads.
In 2011, I played Skyward Sword and became… a little obsessed with Ghirahim :’)
A bracelet inspired by Ghirahim’s final form, and another with his name (and a reference to his white outfit).
Rings inspired by Ghirahim’s final form (top) and cloak (bottom).
2011-2012 was also the time I fell in love with two pieces of media that are still very dear to my heart and that, in a way, almost changed my life: the movie Sucker Punch and the video game Far Cry 3. They inspired many creations.
BABYDOLL and VAAS sets of rings, made with seed and alphabet beads.
By the way, I made a lot of stuff using alphabet beads, but that will be in Part 2.
Bracelet with Babydoll’s “full” name, M.REEAS, and two orbitoclasts.
BABY and DOLL rings.
A VAAS ring.
Bracelet inspired by Far Cry 3 with the word INSANITY written in symmetry, in turquoise blue and iridescent grey.
In 2013, I played Tomb Raider, the first game of the “Reborn Trilogy”. Years later, I also played (and enjoyed) its two sequels.
Bracelet inspired by Lara Croft’s journey, with the words I SURVIVED and an arrow.
In 2013 and 2014, I discovered two other video game franchises I still love today: Hitman and BioShock. The first titles I played at the time were Hitman: Absolution and BioShock Infinite.
Two rings, one inspired by Agent 47’s iconic suit, and the other by the AD scar on Booker DeWitt’s hand.
A recreation of Elizabeth’s medallions: the cage and the bird.
Later in 2014, I played the rest of the BioShock series.
Bracelets inspired by the tattoos on Jack Ryan’s wrists, made with clear and black beads.
In 2015, I was introduced to the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII and specifically to Advent Children. I’ve never played the games but, to understand the movie, I watched all the Crisis Core cutscenes and read extensively about the story of FFVII and even Before Crisis. Many tears were shed for Zack and Aerith in the process.
Three rings inspired by the Remnants of Sephiroth, Kadaj, Loz, and Yazoo. The letters K, L, and Y are blue because of their eyes and the lifestream. The fourth ring simply has the letter S in clear silver beads surrounded in black for Sephiroth.
Rings for Zack and Aerith. The blue and silver ones were originally pink and blue but accidentally ended up in the washing machine. A “happy” accident, after all, because they look nice too and, considering what their story is, the absence of color creates a new symbolic meaning!
In 2018, Far Cry 5 came out, but I only created these recently:
Top: a ring with three J for the Seed brothers, John (blue), Joseph (yellow), and Jacob (red). On the other side, an attempt at the Eden’s Gate cross.
Bottom: a ring for Faith Seed, and what is supposed to be flowers on the other side (Bliss flower in the center and two pink ones like the ones on her dress). The letter F is green on a clear background, but if you look closely, you may notice three iridescent clear beads too. Combined with the F shape, they form the letter R, for Rachel.
This year, I also made sword bracelets inspired by The Legend of Zelda, Sucker Punch, and Mulan (1998):
The Master Sword, Babydoll’s katana, and Mulan’s sword.
And these are from a while ago, but here are game controllers. The Wiimote + Nunchuk can’t really be worn as jewelry; I just felt like making that.
To be continued in Part 2 :)

Terror lives in the shadows in a pair of mesmerizingly moody horror milestones conjured from the imagination of Val Lewton, the visionary producer-auteur who turned our fears of the unseen and the unknown into haunting excursions into existential dread. As head of RKO’s B-horror-movie unit during the 1940s, Lewton, working with directors such as Jacques Tourneur and Mark Robson, brought a new sophistication to the genre by wringing chills not from conventional movie monsters but from brooding atmosphere, suggestion, and psychosexual unease. Suffused with ritual, mysticism, and the occult, the poetically hypnotic I Walked with a Zombie and the shockingly subversive The Seventh Victim are still-tantalizing dreams of death that dare to embrace the darkness.

So I recently found out that Peter Cushing’s last film performance where he wasn’t playing himself for a documentary was for an unfinished animated movie called Walpurgis Night, and no clips of his performance (or most of everyone else’s) have ever been made available to the public…
If you look at any list of his filmography it’ll always say that Biggles was his last movie role, but 3 years later in 1989 a guy named Zachary Zito reached out to him and convinced him to do voiceover work along with John Carradine, Joyce DeWitt, and Ferdy Mayne.
Not much is known about Walpurgis Night except that 1. It was stop-motion. 2. It had something to do with Frankenstein. 3. John Carradine was a narrator who recited at least part of The Tell-Tale Heart at one point. 4. Peter Cushing’s character was called The Poor Traveler, though whether it was supposed to be the Charles Dickens character by the same name or just a simple reference to him, I don’t know.
After Cushing’s death, Starlog Magazine ran a tribute article for him that said the movie was expected to come out in 1997, though that never happened, of course.
The only clip of the movie that was ever made available to the public to my knowledge was a 15-second clip included in the 90’s A&E documentary It’s Alive: The True Story of Frankenstein which depicts a bit of Carradine’s narration, though unfortunately, Eli Wallach talks over it. I think it’s Carradine’s voice underneath it and not Cushing. I was lucky enough to snag this clip as well a bit of research I’ll talk about in a bit through the Wayback Machine shortly before the Internet Archive went down.
Other than that, the only time I know that footage of the movie was shown anywhere was during the 2009 Monster Bash convention. Looking through the old version of the website, I was able to find out that footage from the movie as well as audio-only clips of Carradine reading from Frankenstein were shown one day.
I emailed a guy who was involved with Monster Bash named Charles Henson who told me that footage of the showing was not included in that year’s DVD and therefore he saved me 20 bucks, but he did have a few photos which he kindly shared with me.
Other than that, the trail has gone pretty cold. There were a couple other people I tried reaching out to but the emails were either not working anymore or I never got any response. There are a couple other people I’ll try emailing next to see if they either recorded the Monster Bash showing or have any more info about the movie, so I’ll let y’all know if there’s any updates.
#peter cushing#lost media#john carradine#frankenstein#this movie is cushing's equivalent to marlon brando's final performance being that big bug man animated movie that never got finished

Green Lantern #53 (July 1994)
Superman comes to retrieve the villain from his comic who somehow ended up in this one. What is this, a crossover episode?! Well, yeah.
Last issue, Mongul dropped in on Kyle Rayner's beach-side photo session and demanded a rematch with "Green Lantern," not terribly concerned with the fact that this is a completely different GL from the one who defeated in Coast City him last year. The fight isn't going too well for Kyle, but luckily for him it's interrupted by one of Mongul's former space gladiators: Superman.
As Superman and Mongul get reacquainted, Kyle ignores his girlfriend Alex's advice and tries to rejoin the fight... only for Mongul to swat him off like a mosquito and send him flying to the water, where he immediately starts drowning. Cue sad trombone.
Superman must have a lot of faith in this new GL he just met (or, more likely, in his GL ring), because he doesn't even try to go rescue him from a watery death. The faith turns out to be well-placed, since Kyle triumphantly emerges from the water and distracts Mongul, allowing Superman to knock him away. This finally gives the two heroes a chance to introduce themselves to each other:
(Superman saying "By the way, I'm Superman" is 1) ridiculous and 2) exactly what Superman would say.)
After seeing Kyle using his ring, Superman says the Guardians must be pleased to have him as a Corps member, to which Kyle replies "Guardians? Core member?" Mongul isn't enjoying the fight so much anymore, so he decides to end it by unleashing his secret weapon: a yellow laser (so that's what that square on his chest is for). To Superman and Mongul's confusion, Kyle doesn't understand why he should be afraid of a little yellow and shrugs off Mongul's attack.
Inspired by Superman's comment about not losing his "train of thought," Kyle finally knocks Mongul out by slamming him with a "Slamtrak" train. Superman is impressed ("Not bad for a Green Lantern who's never even heard of the Guardians of the Universe") and tells Kyle to look him up if he's ever in Metropolis. Superman flies off to take Mongul back to jail, leaving Kyle pretty satisfied with himself. He tells Alex that he feels like he passed his first real test (Ohm didn't count, I guess?) and now he thinks "everything's going to be all right." Everything's coming up Rayner!
Meanwhile, back in that shady government office from last issue, the shady government agents give a shady purple figure the mission to retrieve a powerful ring that ended up in the hands (well, hand) of some random dude. We see that the purple figure is Major Force, a.k.a. Captain Atom But Evil, one of the villains who broke out of supervillain prison with Mongul.
Oh, and they give him their best lead for how to find his target: the name "Alexandra DeWitt."
Plotline-Watch:
SPOILERS: Everything's NOT going to be all right.
When Mongul says he's gonna kill Superman, he replies: "I hate to disappoint you... [PUNCH] but it's been done!" This is a reference to that obscure storyline where Superman did, in fact, die. (Maybe I should start keeping track of all the times Superman references his death during supervillain battles in this era.)
When Kyle is about to rejoin the fight, Alex tells him this is "a little out of your league." This is NOT a reference to the fact that Superman and Kyle will end up as teammates in the Justice League, but I'm choosing to see it as that anyway.
This issue establishes that Kyle's ring, unlike Hal's, works perfectly fine on yellow things (and beings, like Mongul), but doesn't explain why yet. It also establishes that Kyle does have a weakness: ADHD.
Superman says he's got questions about what happened to Hal, who he hasn't seen "since Coast City" ('s funeral), and Kyle wishes him luck in finding his buddy. Those questions will be answered pretty dramatically in Zero Hour. There will be punching involved.
While taking Mongul away, Superman assures Kyle that this time "there won't be any chance of him getting free" as we see an image of some sort of hi-tech iron maiden-type contraption. There was some chance, it turns out, since Mongul will get free in 1995's Flash #102, where he'll once again be used to demonstrate the limits of the title hero's new powers.
I like the part when the government agents ask Major Force if he didn't go soft while he was in prison and, to find out if he did, they shoot him in the head. MF barely seems to notice the bullet and then breaks the agent's gun and hand, so I guess that's a "no."
Man, that Alex is a keeper. May Kyle and her have a long and happy relationship!

The Trope of the Day is Women in Refrigerators
Welcome to the wasted women tournament, a tournament to figure out what was the worst female character death!
If you don't know, women in refrigerators is a trope originally coined by comic writer Gail Simone in the 90s in response to the death of Alexandra DeWitt in the Green Lantern comics. She had been the Green Lantern Kyle Rayner's girlfriend who had been killed by the villain Major Force and her body stuffed into the refrigerator for Kyle to find. Since then, "fridged" has become a verb to refer to female characters who are senselessly killed in order to the male protagonists sad or angry without much regard to the woman herself. While originally referring specifically to comic books, the terminology has started to spread to any media.
There are typically two ways that women tend to be fridged:
A female character is written specifically to be fridged. The loving mother/older sister or the disposable love interests are both examples of this trope. These characters typically have very little agency or inner-world outside of the male protagonist— their relationship with the male character is essentially their whole role in the story.
A female character who is a character in their own right— they DO have their own inner-world— but then is killed off to affect the male characters or for plot convenience.
With all of that said, here are the rules for for submissions. Please make sure you read them all before you submit.
The submitted character has be a woman. ABSOLUTELY, UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES, DO MALE CHARACTERS COUNT.
(Women in refrigerators is a trope about the senseless killing of female characters because they are thought of as more disposable by nature of being female. While some male characters are killed off for problematic reasons—see bury your gays or the black guy dies first tropes—this blog isn't about them. However, feel free to combine tropes by submitting queer women or women of color, as they are often killed off at higher rates than cishet or white women.)
For the most part, no resurrected characters. By that I mean no characters who die but later come back to life. However, if you think your character should still count despite their resurrection, feel free to make your case to me in the ask box. If you convince me, I will count them.
No characters who are injured or incapacitated but do not die. However, just like above, you can make your case to me in the ask box and if you convince me, I will count them.
Trans women are women, so feel free to submit trans characters. ABSOLUTELY NO TERFS ALLOWED ON THE BLOG— YOU WILL BE BLOCKED ON SIGHT. YOU ARE NOT WELCOME HERE.
No nonbinary characters unless they also identify with being a woman. Nonbinary people ≠ women. There aren't many nonbinary characters in media in general so I do not think this will be much of a problem but I wanted to specify just in case.
If the woman was killed off for a reason other than making male character(s) sad or plot convenience, then it does not count. This trope is not just any woman who died—there are plenty of ways to kill off a female character in a well-written way!— it's specifically unnecessary or gratuitous killing of female characters in a badly-written way.
I reserve the right to reject a character if I do not think they were actually fridged.
I reserve the right to reject a character if I am not comfortable including them.
I think this goes without saying but no real people.
No unofficial or small media (ex. fan media, OCs, a comic on someone's Tumblr, etc.) as I feel like that could encourage bullying on individual people. Stick to comics, TV, movies, anime, etc. etc. etc. Even if they are smaller but "official" in some way it can be included.
Submissions will be open until December 1st, but if I get a lot of submissions early on I will close them early.
SUBMIT HERE

CLICK THE LINK ABOVE FOR THE FULL REVIEW
"I liked 2022’s SMILE and felt it was a cool concept that never met its full potential. But 2024’s SMILE 2 heard that and met that goal in almost every single way. Naomi Scott understood the assignment and carried the film effortlessly, crafting a fake pop star and making her feel like she’s been part of our lives for years. She hits every emotional and wild beat believably, making us feel for a character that honestly shouldn’t be sympathetic to begin with. That also extends to the incredible pop soundtrack that Scott shines on, providing us with bangers that will be an annual Halloween listen for me. Director/writer Parker Finn also improves upon what he achieved in the first film, giving us crazier and more stylish shots and edits, while using the bigger budget to create Skye’s celebrity universe and showcase better CGI for the smiling demons. And while some may complain about the predictable ending, I called it the moment I watched the first trailer and I have no issue with it. There’s no other way this film could have ended and it leads to an interesting third installment if Paramount decides to make it. I liked this way more than I did the first film and I think fans of SMILE will be smiling a lot while enjoying this sequel. One of the better horror films of 2024, without a doubt."

give me your domestic gfs elizanor hcs
i have no idea how long this has been here but *cracks knuckles* you got it, anon
First meeting: 6'9" Eleanor Lamb activates Elizabeth's up-to-now dormant lesbianism so hard she forgets how to form words for a few minutes
Fast friends due to trauma interests in common and an interdimensional roadtrip is almost immediate, which slowly builds up to a romantic relationship as they tour the world(s) together
The domestication begins: they build a cottage, one where Eleanor won't need to duck so much, because from their travels they have found most cottages are small and short, but they want their shared living space to be cozycore. They build it in some idyllic woods or a forest clearing, just somewhere somewhat isolated without it being unsettling or creepy.
Elizabeth by this point has a good hang of her powers where she can pull a Howl's Moving Castle on the cottage doors and windows to just stop out anywhere like it's no big deal; streets of Paris? Relaxing country park? The Attack on Eden Prime? okay maybe not that last one
They think of places to revisit based on both location and date, because if they're both from different places in time and space they might as well travel the same way.
They have so many books. So many books. The "small" study has shelves hidden in hammerspace to store all the books. Why do they need all these books?
Out of the two, Eleanor gets hit the hardest when she falls sick. Her immune system has been screwed over after living in a fish bowl on the ocean floor her whole life, so she gets so much as a cold and she is bedridden for DAYS. Elizabeth's Nurse Nightingale mode gets switched on and she cares for/dotes on Eleanor the whole time. The latter complains about being babied but that's the general misery from being sick talking. (And somewhere under all the sniffling and groaning she feels so happy that someone is caring so much about her wellbeing.)
Unless one of them is busy elsewhere or sick, they tend to cook their meals together. Both of them were raised in circumstances where cooking for themselves never really came up, so it's a bit of them learning this life skill together and a bit of not wanting to leave the other to do all the cooking.
Eleanor visits Tenenbaum sometimes, usually to help with the effort of caring for the Little Sisters that her mother created. Locating their families is relatively easy thanks to the Thinker, it's undoing the mental conditioning that takes a while. Elizabeth offers to help where she can, knowing that this is something personal for Eleanor. Instant travel to drop off the treated girls and then leave without a trace makes the burden a lot easier on Tenenbaum as well.
Elizabeth sometimes wants to visit whatever Booker still survives in the aftermath of everything, but she can't bring herself to ever try and speak with him. If she ever checks on him, it's from afar, watching as Anna DeWitt gets to have a life that Elizabeth Comstock never got to have. Eleanor can see something's bothering Elizabeth when she gets back from wherever she's been, and eventually coaxes her into actually talking about her feelings, which are bittersweet at best.
Elizabeth discovers she's a cat person when Eleanor brings home a scruffy mess of a stray cat that kept following her. As soon as Elizabeth sits down to read the cat is on her lap before the book is open, he has claimed this human.
Eleanor discovers she's a dog person when Elizabeth brings home a stray mutt with the biggest "Can I keep him?" eyes. The dog was a her, and Eleanor quickly understood why people did the babytalk voice with their dogs because she adores this disaster dog.
There is a ladder for the shelves in the study, but Elizabeth always pesters Eleanor to lift her up for a book if the latter's around.
Eleanor gets lazy when it comes to grocery shopping and uses the above against Elizabeth so that she'll just tear a fully stocked fridge into their kitchen. Who wins here? Who knows?
Elizabeth loves dressing the both of them up. She loves making them new outfits to go out in, finding accessories on their adventures, teaching Eleanor about makeup and what to wear for what occassion because they can both leave the house and they will look good doing it dangit.
Eleanor loves to tinker with various gadgets and gizmos, and that might be why she's also taken to art, favouring mixed media and unconventional sculpting and metalworks. It was Elizabeth's idea that they build Eleanor her own shed as a space for her creativity, so the latter had full reign to get messy and come back into the cottage looking like a full-on blacksmith.
They know not to mess with the timelines. They know this. But that doesn't stop them from taking their combined works - Eleanor's art pieces and Elizabeth's paintings - and selling them where they could just to see where they would end up and what little instances of inspiration they caused.
Both of them have nightmares, not on the regular but often enough. Tossing and turning, mumbling in their sleep. Worst-case scenarios are one waking up and accidentally/instinctively pulling something into the room via tear or scourching the ceiling/wall with a fireball. They've learned each other's tells for nightmares and how to help calm the other down. Eleanor found that holding Elizabeth and talking to her in her sleep helps - a book she likes, what they could do in the morning, or just plain nonsense. Elizabeth figured out that ocean noise calmed Eleanor down, and changes the world outside their window to an undersea view until Eleanor stills. It's not a perfect system, they would rather be without the nightmares, but it's something that works in the now.
They're in no rush to get married, as neither really feel that it's something they need in their relationship. They know they're not ready for children yet, or if they'll ever want children. They're happy as they are in the present, with a cottage they built together for the life they built together and the cat and the dog they adopted and the art shed and a library hidden inside of a modest study and doors that can take them wherever and whenever they want. They were lost, but they found each other.
Eleanor has met the Luteces exactly once. She does not like them at all. She has promised them that if they ever show up to interrupt the peaceful life she and Elizabeth have for whatever bullshit quantum entanglement riddle they may want to bring with them, she can and WILL find a way to kill them for good. While the Luteces are certain she won't, the chance of third-degree burns and whatever half-finished art projects being thrown at them full-throttle is definitely not appealling.

What are your favorite books?✨🥹
This is both a dream ask, but still difficult to answer. I'm limiting myself to one title per author. Wuthering Heights is my all-time favorite, and has been since I was 14ish. My favorite Austen (currently) is Northanger Abbey Wise Children by Angela Carter The Complete Claudine by Colette (I read them all as one, and therefore count them as such) An Experiment in Love by Hilary Mantel Modern Girls by Jennifer S. Brown Other Voices, Other Rooms by Truman Capote The Witches of New York by Ami McKay We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson The Enchanted April by Elizabeth von Arnim Dorothy Parker Drank Here by Ellen Meister My Cousin Rachel by Daphne du Maurier Vanity Fair by William Makepeace Thackeray The Awakening by Kate Chopin Bread Givers by Anzia Yezierska Claire DeWitt series -- there are three so far -- by Sara Gran The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett Legacy by Susan Kay Mrs Dalloway by Virginia Woolf Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe by Fannie Flagg The list could be far longer, and I've kept my answers to fiction. An honorable mention is due to Anne Rice's Lives of the Mayfair Witches trilogy. 💜
