ok I just received the Autobiography of Mr. Spock and holy fucking shit

the section about kirk fully made me throw the book down, walk away, and lay on the floor for about 5 minutes

we have obviously "I have tried on many occasions to write about Jim Kirk. This seems to me an increasingly impossible task. Being someone who read Under The Red Hood and came out with the firm belief that, for Jason, it's not about killing Joker, it's about Jason wanting proof Batman would choose him over the Joker (bc shelia chose the joker). Makes seeing any other media where it's all about just wanting the Joker dead is a teeny bit frustrating. to be honest

Jason could've killed the Joker himself, really, really easily. Jason kidnaps the Joker before the confrontation. I can't open my comic for a reference right now, but it felt like he had the Joker for quite a bit before the confrontation. He had him. He beat him up with a crowbar. He had every single opportunity to kill the Joker himself, but he didn't because that wasn't his goal. Make no mistake, he did plan for the Joker to be dead by the end of it, but do you see what im trying to say here

It's not about making Batman kill either. When Batman says he won't kill, Jason adjusts and goes, 'Let ME kill the Joker or kill me to stop me' instead. The test is all about Batman choosing him. The whole final confrontation is Jason's first death again. The parent, The Joker, and the explosives. It even ends with Jason unable to move as a bomb goes off right next to him again because the parent didn't choose Jason. And instead tried finding an option that'd benefit them and (consequencely) letting the Joker walk, again, lol, lmao <-in agony

Loved how the answers to V’ger and Spock’s question of “Is this all that I am?” lie in such human concepts of love, acceptance, union. The completion of their sense of selves are not dependent on the two men, but rather so much more fulfilling, real, and tangible through loving them and everything that comes with doing so.

Side note: love being a want or need for union is a philosophical take i don’t 100% agree with (narratively speaking it’s so romantic, though, especially in this movie’s context LOL), but Marilyn Friedman’s twist on love as more of a separate, “third” unified entity (a federation of the lovers’ selves) was fun to think about ^_^

125 - write up info for that Fates au thing my brain thought of the other day.

150 - start figuring out *what* I am, because I don't know much about myself.

200 - brainstorm ideas for my first fursona, because I've been thinking about that.

300 - create a ref sheet for said fursona (I'll do this one after most of these, but will post it when completed)

400 - stop biting my nails..

500 - make an ask blog for random characters from aus I've made (from different media, as im multi-fandom beyond belief) (this one MIGHT change goal if I come up with more)

For now, that's as far I'll list! I'll probably come back if the goals get smashed and if I've gotten new inspiration! Or to update this when I do things :)

itoshi sae has grown rather good at this—compartmentalizing his attraction to you. you're his little brother's best friend, after all.

he's grown good at ignoring the fact that he knows you've always had a crush on him.

but now that guy's just your shitty, cheating ex that sae never liked in the first place. and he's playing his team today, by some stroke of luck.

and you're standing in his apartment still looking more than a little heartbroken as you hold out your arms and slowly spin around wearing his jersey instead.

your ex always felt more than a little threatened by sae, whether you were aware of it or not. so in retrospect, this seemed like a good plan. posting a picture in sae's jersey and then going to the game and cheering him on while wearing it.

but even after all of these years, sae's not prepared for it—the hot, possessive feeling that rapidly burns its way through his gut the moment he sees it.

the unreasonable, unspeakable things he wants to do to you in it.

saw some people dismissing Markhelly as just introducing the love triangle trope, and as a long hater of the love triangle trope, I actually love it

Mark S. developing feelings for Helly is less a love triangle between her and Gemma and more an example of how much the severance procedure destroys your previous life, how much it takes from you, how anything the Innies try to create for themselves - personalities, lives, meaning, relationships - are affected by outer lives they don't even KNOW about

Mark and Helly are just like Burt and Irving - Burt was falling in love, believing it to be for the very first time, all while his Outie was likely going home to his loving partner. and Mark was experiencing romance for the first time with Helly all while his Outie was traumatized and mourning the loss of his wife

I don't think this show is the type to minimize that down to "oh who will Mark end up with??" because I can't see them solving the Burt/Irving situation with "but who will Burt choose??"

because like. it just shows. these are DIFFERENT people with entirely different experiences and you have now created a new person who has formed NEW relationships and even if you get rid of the severance procedure, how do you rectify that? do you just destroy an entire consciousness and all the relationships it was entangled with (like Burt) or do you force an Outie to live with an alternate identity, pressure them to keep those relationships that mean nothing to them and have them deal with the fact that in a completely different scenario a version of you fell for someone else?

this is actually one of the ONLY shows I will accept a love triangle from because it's not about what love interest is better or what ship wins, it's about how you can try to erase all relationships from a person and they will STILL form new ones because people are not machines designed only to work, people are designed to love and form bonds and you can't take that away from them!!

ichikawa and hibino both share a glance when hoshina ignores them, whistling faintly as he heads in the opposite direction of the extraction vehicles that are due to take them back to the base any minute. several members of the cleanup team have already begun to dispose of the yoju carcasses littering the street.

they hurriedly trail him for another six breathless blocks before ichikawa calls out again, "vice-captain!"

the pair nearly runs right into him when hoshina suddenly comes to a stop, lips curled upward in a smile as he glances in the window of the tiny coffee shop they're now standing outside of.

"sir, are we not...going back to the base?"

"i'm gettin' a coffee first," he smiles, pleased, a direct contrast to the blood running down the side of his face and the smudges of soot and ash along his chin and neck.

hibino clears his throat, "do you...should we really go in there looking like..." he waves a hand over himself.

hoshina waves him off. "she's used to it."

ichikawa and hibino once again exchange confused looks, though the answer comes quick when the gentle tinkling of the bell above the door is accompanied by a soft, bright voice that calls out, "soshiro!"

they watch as you skip out from behind the counter, and—the moment seems so intimate, both of them feel as if they should look anywhere else.

the vice-captain of the third division's forehead falls against yours, a gloved hand wrapping around your body and pressing into your lower back as you curl your fingers in the front of his suit.

"ya okay?" he asks quietly, tipping your chin to meet his gaze.

warm adoration settles over your expression as you look at him, nodding, the smile on your face only growing as his lips brush against the tip of your nose.

"hope ya don't mind i brought some strays along," he murmurs, gesturing toward ichikawa and hibino.
