AU where Ryan was in Nooshy’s position + How to subtly write in a love story.

I should start this off with saying that I love Nooshy! She’s one of my favourite characters in the franchise. She’s amazing! This is just an AU inspired by La'Ron Readus on Youtube (his video on Johnny and Ryan is really good by the way). This AU is in no way negative towards Nooshy and in it she would be a central character in Sing 3.

To begin, start with some main changes mainly including more interactions starting off at the first scene together.

When Johnny first enters the class, Ryan is seen looking at him and approaching him when Buster leaves, seeming to be about to introduce himself.

Ryan is seen wincing when Klaus corrects Johnny, referencing that he knows that it hurts and feels bad for him.

Ryan is shown reaching to help Johnny up when he falls, Klaus hits his hand away and refuses to let him help, Ryan seems worried and upset about what is happening.

When Johnny has his panic attack, Ryan follows him outside, clearly looking for him and crouches next to him when he finds him while looking extremely worried and puts his hand on Johnny’s back as the screen fades to black.

When Johnny walks out of the skate shop, he walks up to Ryan who was leaning on the wall next to the doors who smiles at him and offers for them to go get something to eat, Johnny smiles and agrees and Ryan swings an arm over his shoulder as they walk.

Cut to the dinner scene, light teasing about the show and dancing in general, Ryan reassures him that he is doing fine and has talent, light flirting with the singing scene and a waitress compliments on them on being a cute couple, both kinda panicking but Ryan pushes past it and suggests them practicing together, Johnny agreeing eagerly.

Klaus gets really angry at the idea of Johnny and Ryan training together in private, even though Ryan points out that he’s done something like this before and it would only benefit them in the long run, Klaus finally agrees but demands to talk to Ryan alone, Ryan agrees, looking scared but tells Johnny it’s alright and to head to the practice space.

Cut to Johnny falling while doing the routine, Ryan appears behind him, laughing under his breath, and they begin practicing.

R: *Snort of Laughter* Maybe let’s wait to pull out those moves pretty boy.

J: Sorry.

R: Don’t apologize, you’re doing really good!

J: *Raises Eyebrows*

R: Seriously! You’re doing better than I would be if I just started.

J: That’s not how Klaus sees it.

R: Well, he’s wrong. You’re really talented Johnny, we just have to build up your confidence and you’ll be a pro in no time!

J: Really?

R: I promise, come on! Let’s start with this…

Training montage but intertwined with scenes of the two seeming to just be hanging out and practice scenes where the two start to seem overly touchy and as the scenes go on they’re shown closer and closer together, final scene being them doing it correctly as a show up to Klaus, ending with them hugging and seeming like there’s a kind of tension, and Klaus glares at them and mutters “you traitor” at Ryan as the class congratulates them (this way Klaus attacking Johnny and Ryan onstage doesn’t seem to come out of nowhere as we now know he’s resentful).

When the group meets Calloway, Ryan grabs Johnny's arm when Clay opens the door. Ryan is crouched next to Crawly when she wakes up, moving a cloth off her head hinting that he acted as a medic when she passed out. Ryan is standing next to Johnny when the tv interview is playing, puts his hand on his back as if trying to comfort him. When the bad guys show up at the door, Ryan jumps and grabs Johnny's hand which Johnny squeezes back. Shares confused and scared look with Johnny when Buster says they’re going to jump but is seen helping Meena jump as Johnny helps Rosita.

Johnny and Ryan run next to each other in the forest area and jump over the railing to the street in sync.

When Buster’s clearance card declines at the set, Ryan reaches past him “Here, let me try…” and uses Klaus’s card with a wink to Johnny when the door opens, “looks like he’s helpful after all” at which Johnny smiles and laughs as they duck inside and a few of the others pat him on the back.

Ryan calls the other dancers to set, them running up to him when they arrive, treating Ryan as troupe leader immediately with Johnny smiling at him from the sidelines.

Johnny apparently introduces Ryan to Marcus in the background of a scene with him standing between the two as they shake hands, Marcus has an eyebrow raised and Ryan looks nervous.

When Klaus sabotages the scene by attacking both boys when they’re on stage, both try to protect each other from his abuse, especially targeting Ryan for “betraying him” and the troupe. Marcus is shown to be being held back by Stan saying “He’s eighteen Markie, give him a minute to handle it. We’ll deal with it later.” 

When they finally beat Klaus, the two raise their hands impulsively as if to declare victors in a show of unity, causing the audience to burst into cheers. Klaus slinks off in defeat and Marcus and Stan are about to follow him until Barry alerts them of Crystal’s arrival. Johnny and Ryan quickly separate, blushing and looking awkward.

Ryan and Johnny are in the background backstage standing next to each other, shoulders brushing.

Johnny and Ryan both try to grab Buster when Crystal grabs him but miss.

When Rosita rescues Buster, Johnny and Ryan kiss quickly in excitement and immediately share a shocked but happy look before hurrying to check if Buster’s okay.

On the bus, there are other dancers in the spare seats, Rosita and Norman are asleep with their kids, and Ryan is cuddled up asleep on Johnny’s shoulder with one earbud while Johnny appears to be resting with his head on top of Ryan’s and the other earbud in but he raises his head when he waves to his dad from the window before putting his head back and closing his eyes.

When the bus stops, Ryan and Johnny are standing next to each other with Ryan holding a hand out like he was reassuring the other dancers. 

When the Majestic news is announced, Johnny glances over at Ryan to make sure he’s okay with it and Ryan nods after glancing back at the other dancers who nod. At Clay’s acceptance, the two hug excitedly and Johnny kisses Ryan on the cheek.

When the group is walking onto set, Ryan and Johnny are shown holding hands and catching their staffs in sync when they are tossed to them by another dancer.

With this AU, it’s never explicitly stated that the two are a couple (you could even remove the kisses if you want) but it is clear that they are much closer than just friends as they are willing to risk a lot for each other and even have a meeting between a partner and a parent scene that would be indicative of a relationship. And that, Illumination, is how you subtly write in a love story without making it a main or forced feeling plot point.

Rottmnt x Reader

Chapter 1

Please don’t steal or use ideas without permission :)

This is an AU! The reason will be explained in later chapters, but in this AU, the yokai and mutants are fully integrated with humans. The hidden city mainly consists of Yokai and mutants with the occasional human visitor or partner.

Donatello is an independent scientist who still goes by Othello Von Ryan. He found out through trial and error that he was not made for a group laboratory. Now Donatello mainly confides himself in his lab at the lair, he's expanded of course, a man of his caliber shouldn't have to deal with such a small area. He's made great strives in the scientific community, solving some of the world's leading problems. Having won numerous awards, he still finds himself unfulfilled somehow.

Michelangelo is a successful artist, both on paper and in the kitchen. He records himself on the internet, hoping to inspire young minds to fulfill their dreams, no matter how they may look. He prefers to try anything and everything he can, gaining many new skills and discovering new things about himself. Although his desserts were delicious, the feeling of being alone only left a sour taste in his mouth.

Neon Leon. Successful actor, known for being one of the first openly Yokai actor. He inspired other Yokai's and mutants to remove their disguises and embrace what makes them unique. Leon made the world laugh with his one liners and his comical timing. His range is crazy, going from musicals to action, his talent knows no bounds. Although he has romance on the screen, he couldn't hope for something a little more...real.

Raphael (and don't skin me for this), the sweet turtle, became a guidance counselor for trouble youths. You know those kids that throw chairs? Yeah, Raph helps them. More often than not, Raphael recommends the wrestling team, which Raph just so happens to coach. Raph's helped a lot of kids figure out how to reel in their anger and get to the root of their problems. Raph's even managed to give a few select students permission to cut class and go to the weight room if they felt too angry. But no matter how many people Raph's saved (and no matter how much Raph spoke in the third person), Raph couldn't help but feel like there was one more person he needed to help.

April O' Neal. Some say she's the greatest hands on reporter of all time. With Sunita as her partner and camerawoman, the two get dirty, discovering the real problems that people won't report. April's most successful and controversial paper, "Yokai, Mutants, and Humans, oh my!" gained incredible popularity after people read just how many Yokai and Mutants were feeling neglected. Due to April's paper, the government passed a law, allowing Yokai and Mutants to come up to the surface and reveal themselves with no prejudice. It's still an ongoing battle to give everyone the fairness they deserve, but April and Sunita O'Neil fight for justice.

(Y/n) (L/n). Oh wait! That's you! You're a kind hearted soul who's just gotten a job at the School's library. You must really love the Dewey Decimal System...oh you have a nickname for it? Wonderful...You're a creative soul with a passion for helping. You have a myriad of skills, all of which may not have helped in getting this job, but they might help in getting something else. Your day starts off, relatively normally...

Having just moved back to New York after living in the Hidden City for five years was...different, to say the least. Saying goodbye to the nice old tortoise Yokai you had been staying with, you headed out, bags in hand. "Bye, Mrs. Shapiro! Call me if you need someone to water your plants!" You said, waving to the wrinkly tortoise.

"Oh, goodbye dear. I'm gonna miss you. Oh! Drop by Erin's on your way out!" The tortoise Yokai, Mrs. Shapiro, waved a long clawed hand at the you.

You nod with a smile and shut the door behind you. Heading down the street, you waved to friendly Yokai and mutants that walked past. After seeing the street clear a bit, you pulled your phone and headphones out of your pocket. Popping in the earbuds, you played your favorite playlist you found on Spotify. It was titled, 'Jammy Jams', the description being 'Songs for elite music listeners'. The playlist and many more like it, all with a theme of some sort, Studying, Building, (crime fighting?) Jogging, all came from one account by the name of Othello.

As you scrolled through the playlist, you saw the little notification. 'Othello is listening to Weird Science'. With a shrug, you tapped the notification, the song blasting through your headphones as you matched where Othello was in the song. Definitely an oldie, but it fit him...or her...or them—it fit the vibe! As you continued scrolling, adding some of the songs to your own playlists, you didn't hear the three voices yelling nor the shocked gasps of the onlookers that quickly moved out of the way.

A sudden PUSH and you were on the ground, groaning next to a stranger as Technologic blasted through your headphones.

"C'mon, Dee! He's getting away!" A turtle Yokai with dark hair in a half up, half down bun, ran in place and pointed to the direction that they needed to go. He wore an orange mask, had stickers and paint all over his shell, and in his hands sat a Kusari-fundo.

"No, no, I'm fine, Michael." The turtle Yokai next to you, (Dee?), stood up so suddenly, you thought he teleported. He wore a purple mask that wrapped around his head, his-tech goggles sitting on top. On his arms were multiple hi-tech screens and buttons that wrapped around his arms on large bands. Looking on the ground, he spotted his phone and your own, both faced down. He quickly swiped one up, and tucked it in his pocket, "May this be a lesson never to text while running!" The turtle pointed up at the sky almost heroically.

"You crashed into me!" You said defensively.

The turtle Yokai made a noise of surprise and looked down at you, as if suddenly noticing you for the first time. "I was actually referring to me." He muttered, coughing awkwardly. Without warning, two metal arms came out of his...shell? It had to be a shell, right? But it was more purple and armor like. The cold metal of the arms shook you out of your thoughts as they lifted you onto your feet.

"Oh, uh, thanks." You said, now just as awkward as the Yokai in front of you. "Don't you have to—" you pointed your thumb behind you, where the other turtle was freaking out.

"Donnie!" The orange clad turtle whined.

"Right." With a bit of showmanship, the purple clad turtle picked up your unlocked phone off the ground and handed it to you. As you took it, you noticed how he made sure your fingers did not touch. "Adieu, madam." He gave a slight bow and left, joining his accomplice in their efforts.

You giggled as he left, the whole interaction being odd. You looked down at your phone, the screen dimming. You tapped it to ensure it stayed unlocked and reopened Spotify...except, why were the apps in a different format? And your headphones were cutting out, and the background is different, and...what's the use? You know the truth, you switched your phone.

A Future For Three (Homelander x OC)

Benjamin has done all he can to point Homelander in the right direction. Between plans for usurping power and parenthood, nothing has gone quite well. At least the bug will be there to help put out the fires.

Not even the crunch of rubble can pull his eyes away from the splotchy screen that spells out his failure in big, bold letters.

The silence between them is so very loud.  Louder than the ringing in his ears, louder than the news anchor’s dismayed voice as she reports Neuman’s death.  It’s only when those red, web-patterned shoes stop beside him that he dares flit his gaze anywhere else.  

Within a single day, he’d lost it all.  Ryan ran out on him, then Benjamin did the same… 

“You’re not being a father, you’re being a fuckin’ bully,” the bug had spat, fists clenched at his sides.  

He can still see the way they both looked at him.  Ryan’s eyes full of indignance, Ben’s full of heartbreak and disappointment.  The bug had bailed him out of his messes so many times now.  Talked to him about parenting, tried giving examples from his own upbringing on what to do and what to say, lectured him about patience and understanding.  But how?  

How can he do any of that when all the boy seems to want is a better father?

“It’s not a matter of dads,” Ben whispered to him so very long ago. “You’ve both taken care of him.  He’s got love for you both, but it’s not a competition, y’know?” 

But he never listened.  He never learned.

“Thought you wanted space… after…” he blurts, voice hoarse and thin. He gestures vaguely to the destroyed penthouse.  His eyes fall to the crumbled remains of Atlas.

It’s like looking in a mirror.

“I did, but…” Ben squats down, one hand snaking through his hair while the other lands atop his bent knee.  “I also told you I’d always take care of you.”

Homelander tugs Ryan’s book bag closer.

“Look at me, Johnny.” Ben whispers.

He hates the rimming of tears in his little spider���s eyes more than anything.  He put those there, didn’t he?  Took everything too far, was too cruel, said all those horrible things to rile up his fans… 

He barely registers the arms looping under his knees and around his back to lift him to the couch.  Benjamin murmurs something about him deserving better than sitting on the floor, but it sounds warped– messy and discombobulated as if they were underwater.  He lets Ben guide him, lets himself be coaxed to rest his head atop the bug’s lap and away from the sights of his failures.  He’d complain at the sound of his eagle epaulet puncturing the leather of the couch, but it was already destroyed anyway.

Just like everything else.

The tears start again.  The sobs quake, the shivers rattle him, and he gasps for air that simply won’t fill the void.  

“I’ve got you, pumpkin.”  Benjamin coos, fingers stroking through his hair.  “S’gonna be alright.”

“What the fuck is wrong with me?”  Homelander sputters.  Why can’t I do anything right?  

“Mm, a lot, honestly…”  The bug sighs, thumbing his cheek with a tenderness that conveys nothing but love behind such a devastating statement.  “But I’ll keep ya.” 

He hates the way that makes him cry harder.  He hates the way Ben holds him through it all.  It’d be so much easier if the bug would just throw him to the curb already.  Toss him aside, tear away one last shred of humanity from his used and abused heart.  One last anchor to remove him from that which he can never escape.

But it isn’t that simple.  It never will be.

By the time he’s devoid of any more tears, Benjamin still comforts him.  Still promises him an eternity.  Still shows him love.

“We’re gonna go down to my place, okay?”

“Why?”  He croaks.  His head throbs when he lifts it.

“I don’t want you sleeping in a big mess like this.  You deserve a little better than that.”  Benjamin pinches his cheek but the usual smile doesn’t spread across his face at the act.  Homelander’s drained.  He’s got nothing left inside but the hollowness of his own misery and the weak shimmer of hope sown by his little spider.

So he lets Ben carry him through the halls like some sort of wounded child who’d skinned their knees and couldn’t do it himself.  Not that there was anyone of consequence in the tower left to see it.  Not after he’d given the order to do away with them.

Another thing Benjamin begged him not to do.

He’s like a compliant mannequin as Ben strips him of his suit and all of the accompanying dust it’d gathered.  He expects to be kicked to the couch by the time he’s sporting just his briefs, but exile is not what fate has in store for him.  Instead, he gets to be tucked under fuzzy blankets and held close.  Benjamin’s breath kisses the nape of his neck and an arm slings over his midsection.

In his own arms, he still clings to Ryan’s bag.  He can’t take his eyes off the photo of him and his son that sits atop the nightstand.  He’s got the boy’s cheeks pinched between his gloved fingers, both of them smiling brightly.  In his hands, Ryan holds the carrier with their milkshakes.  He remembers the moment Ben took that photo.  How happy they all were…

“I texted him.” Ben murmurs.  “Let him know we’re here for when he gets back.”

He pulls the bag closer.

“Listen t’me.”

Homelander’s gut drops for the millionth time.  What could possibly be coming?  The end of their relationship?  Reprimands he can’t escape?  Will it hurt?

“We need to have a serious talk later about everything, okay?”

Oh god…

“I’m not goin’ anywhere, but I need– we got a lot to work on, y’know?”  

He thanks whatever god there may be for the clarification.

“And I need you to understand something.  I love you.  But that doesn’t mean you can hurt me all the time.”  Ben’s voice cracks with cries that threaten to spill. “I don’t ever wanna get to the point where I can’t come back to you.  I fuckin’ love you, but I’m scared you’re gonna push me too far away someday and I can’t–”

The arm around his body curls tighter.

“I can’t imagine anything else but you.  And I don’t want to.  I know you’re trying, and I know it’s hard and it’s all gone tits up these last few days– that this was all your dream, but please…” 

Ben’s face presses to his nape and he can feel the wetness of tears.  Those are his fault, too.  The pit of shame in his gut opens wider. The guilt grows stronger.

“Please save room for us in your dream.”

Who deserved to be the main character (spoiler - NOT Rhaenyra)

Every post I make is the result of a conversation with someone I managed to catch and tie to a chair so they couldn't run away while I endlessly whine about how much I hate this show (whining is my love language, by the way).

I'm slightly drunk this time, so if English decides to fight me hand to hand and wins, good for him, I didn't put up much of a fight.

I've been grieving for over two years now for Laena Velaryon. That woman was an absolute savage in the books, and I would be so happy to see her on screen the way Martin intended. If only the writers understood feminism at all, instead of demeaning every woman in favor of Ryan Condall's supreme alpha self-insert, right?

This incredible woman took over Vhagar itself at the age of 12, fearing no one or nothing. She was more interested in flying than boys, and was an excellent rider. She was wild, fierce, and proud. She despised her first suitor, allowing her father to postpone the wedding time and time again. She found a suitor after her own heart, the rogue prince Daemon Targaryen himself. She loved her husband, and was loved in return. She went on an adventure to another continent, and saw the world in all its glory. She gave birth to twin girls, whom she loved as deeply and fiercely. She secured a future for her daughters through smart political decisions, betrothing them to the heir next to the current heir to the Iron Throne and the future king and heir to the throne of Driftmark. She also loved a girl named Rhaenyra, and was loved in return. She was surrounded by those she loved - children, lovers, a brother, and parents. She wasn't neglected, abandoned, or alone - no, Laena Velaryon didn't let anyone dictate what she did or treat her as secondary or insignificant. And in her last moments, she was a true dragon blood, wanting to die next to Vhagar, not on a birthing bed.

This is someone who wouldn't need to be given something to do so that viewers wouldn't forget who the main character is. This is someone who wouldn't run around locations like a chicken with a cut-off head, stupidly trying to do something, but ultimately doing nothing important. This is someone who would be able to entertain me so that I would stop getting on my friends' nerves with stories about how much I wish that three-day diarrhea would overtake everyone responsible for the stupidities in the House of Dragons scenario.

I agree with you and the last anon about everything the story has been screaming. But can I also add another angle that has been bugging me. The opportunity to play this story is huge for Oliver and Ryan's resumes. I saw him post a few days ago losing a part to an A lister. We know Ryan and Oliver are the Captains of the ship since the beginning. They want to play this. Ryan deserves to play this and get the same credit Oliver does. They are so entitled thinking Lou deserves it more after 20 minutes of screen time. Ryan and Oliver have been together for 7 years. They deserve it. They have played it up. You don't get to take this from Ryan just because you suddenly switched ships or are new here.

Anon please know I'm giving you a STANDING OVATION. Why does the Nepo baby somehow deserve something Ryan has been working towards for years more??????? Like, no shade to Lou, but this Oliver and Ryan's. Buck and Eddie can be something that doesn't exist in media. Neither of them was introduced as queer so this is about two men who created a bond so strong it kept evolving. They are best friends and co parents and partners and they've been through hell and back and they fell in love along the way. How beautiful would that be?? Buddie has the potential to be The slow burn of network television and I have to settle for not getting it because some of y'all saw 1 (one) white guy with 10 minutes of screentime and decided he's heavens gift to humanity? Oh, come on. And for heaven's sake, buddie is not about Buck? Is about Buck and Eddie? So to say all is great because we have Tommy now is bullshit? Because Tommy can't replace Eddie because Eddie is part of buddie too. Like???? Eddie should get his happy ending and Ryan deserves the exposure too.

On one hand, you have people acting like Buck and Tommy is written in the stars and anyone who dislikes them are being unjust and hateful. On the other, you have people acting as if Buck can’t possibly be in a relationship with a man who isn’t Eddie, and claiming he can is somehow based in racism and hatred of Eddie.

Neither is true! The problem is that prior to 7x04, Evan Buckley was not a canon queer character. He was viewed that way by fans and Oliver Stark was all for it, but that does not change the actual canon history of the character. Therefore, the writers can only fix what they feel fits the current story. They can retcon a few things and so on, but both sides are acting like they’re right, and it makes no sense.

Yes, Buddie shippers have Oliver and Ryan on their side for the most part. Yes, Oliver believes Buck has been queer all along and he thinks a lot of the headcanons about his character’s reaction to things make sense, but he is NOT saying it’s all true. He agrees Buck was likely experiencing some jealousy when Eddie first showed up, but that does not mean Tim Minear is going to make that theory canon. It’s fans and Oliver who think it, but that does not equal canon.

As well, with things being slightly retconned or adjusted to fit the story… Tommy is obviously no longer an asshole by proximity. He was rude to Hen and Chim, but we’ve seen he him interact with the two of them since in civil ways. We know Chim thinks he’s cool. Continuing to demand he apologize on screen is a waste of time. It was five seasons ago, and the story had to change to fit Tim bringing his character back. It happens.

As for Buck/Tommy shippers, y’all have got to get off the high horse of Possibility. At the moment, there are so many ways their relationship can go, and the only reason you all are so high and mighty about it, is because you’re technically never going to be wrong until you’re wrong. Which is annoying.

Yes, Tim could choose to have Tommy stick around for another season. Yeah, Buck and Tommy could be endgame. Yeah, Buck and Tommy could… any and everything is possible, but acting as if Tommy is the love of Buck’s life and deserves fan devotion is crazy. Don’t get me wrong, I like the character. He seems nice if a little cocky, but I like that. I like that he’s written as a grown man who, even though he’s changed, still has a little bit of asshole in him.

Because yes, what he did to Buck on their first date was rude. He didn’t explain anything and left him standing outside the restaurant as if he hadn’t just told him he’s never dated a man before, and as if they hadn’t just run into his best friend. It was a dick move. However, it’s also kinda realistic. So I dug it, but that’s also all we really know about him.

Tommy is an army vet, flies helicopters, was a firefighter, and is gay. Which he struggled to come to terms with, and can be a dick. The way y’all treating him like a savior is insane. Y’all are trying to rub it in people’s face that his relationship with Buck is canon while Buddie isn’t, and I don’t understand that. Buck wasn’t even bisexual three episodes ago, so where is this higher than thou attitude even coming from?

The only thing people should be focused on is the fact that Buck is now canonically bisexual. Tim liked the idea and Oliver loved it, so they finally made it happen. Now, his story has even more potential. I’d even go so far as to say season 7 is going to be a cleaning and re-establishing of all the characters, because so many of them feel a little different.

We’ve got bi!Buck, meaning we’ll get to see him in one or more relationships that he isn’t used to being in. We’ve got a new actor playing Harry, and he’s older, meaning they’re going to have to write to his strengths and build a storyline there that is more mature. Bobby and Athena almost died together for real for real, thus hopefully we’ll get to see their relationship evolve and what if it changes them in any way. Chim and Maddie are finally getting married, so we get to see them kickstart a new chapter together. Hen and Karen have a new child, which will hopefully bring them more storylines and hijinks as a family. And Eddie is dealing with forcing himself to accept a relationship he may not even want to be in. And he’s aware this time, which could result in him ignoring his fears or bowing out, then having to face what bowing out means.

Point is, there is no reason for all this drama.

Buddie is not guaranteed just because it is a popular want for fans, and an accepted theory by the actors and showrunner. They’ve all said it has to fit the overall story without forcibly gearing the writing in that direction. Which means it could happen two episodes from now or two seasons from now. We just have to wait and see.

At the same time, Buck and Tommy are not an established couple yet. They’re going on their second date, and it’s been said Tommy isn’t in the last few episodes of the season. So it’s possible he and Buck are still together, but Lou isn’t a series regular nor regular recurring, so he’s just not contracted to be on set. Which is fine, but acting like a quick breakup is also bad storytelling is ridiculous.

Fans have hated Buck’s relationships with women from the jump, and him breaking up fast isn’t exactly new. So if it happens with the first man he dates… okay. Tommy can become more than a stepping stone, but the writers aren’t obligated to make his first experience with a man something deep and profound. It can be fun and eye-opening and still have mattered, even if it ends fast.

Y’all have got to let the stories play out, and not scream bloody murder if your headcanon doesn’t become canon. Because truth be told, Buck being canon bi is the biggest flex of fan service I’ve ever seen, even if I think it adds to the depth of him. So I can’t imagine how difficult it is to be sure not to continue giving that same group of fans everything they want outright, when there’s so much more story to unfold.

Which means they can’t just make Tommy the love of Buck’s life because Buck/Tommy fans have ditched Buddie or were never Buddie shippers, and want to be right. But they also can’t have Eddie come out and he and Buck start dating, because Buddie shippers have waited five seasons. Just wait to see what happens, and in the meantime, enjoy watching Buck discover more of himself. With Tommy as his current love interest, and Eddie as his best friend.

Oh, you reminded me of the DCAMU, espacially Justice League War and all of the new52-based animations about the JL. I mean sure, Hal's prominent character trait is his confidence, and sure, he provides comic relief sometimes, but JL War reduced him to this annoying, arrogant punching bag and took away his cool, badass moments from the comics, the things that proved he's just as capable of being a leader and a powerful fighter like any other member of JL. They only focused on him because he's with Batman, and they needed to make him annoying and useless to make people love Batman more. Barry barely had any screen time in that movie, and he played absolutely no role in the plot, he's just there to fill up the slot.

I do think that Hal and Barry were portrait beautifully in comics, now that I read more and more about them, but they're super neglected in animations and especially live action. At least Barry got Flashpoint (but that's literally all he has, no one gives a shit about Barry outside of Flashpoint and his timeline-fucking ability), Hal got absolutely nothing after the Ryan Reynolds' movie.

Compared to Superman and Batman who have reboots after reboots, they sure deserve some good movies of their own. Wonder Woman and Aquaman were also underrepresented, but at least from DCEU they had some successful solo movies. Shazam had 2 movies as well.

I know live action isn't everything, but it hurt me that Hal was completely absent in the DCEU. I have a special spot in my heart for the DCEU, and and this is controversial but I love the DCEU Flash movie. It's actually one of the ones that I genuinely enjoyed and not only stan because I'm obsessed with DC before that.

I wish to see Hal and Barry interracting more in animation and live action in the future - their team ups are fantastic in many different issues of comics, if there's a Brave and Bold animation or live action later, it'll be my wildest dream come true.

1. Why did you make Barnaby super scrawny and then have a helmet for hair and give him the face of a child? This grown man is constantly working out to run faster and be stronger, he is almost thirty years old this makes no sense.

I need to rant

...about the absolute erasure of Pedro and his contributions that is seemingly policy now among The Mandalorian production and show runners. I have been seeing rumors on and off for years about the ostracizing people have witnessed towards Pedro. No more so than during season 3, and after watching the Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian “The Making of Season 3” special, I am now disappointed at how they did nothing but prove there’s something rotten happening on that production in regards to Pedro.

I’ll make my position clear AF:

Pedro is the Mandalorian, Din Djarin.

 Lateef and Brendan are the stuntmen who help bring the Mandalorian to life. They are collaborators, just like all the costumers, choreographers, set designers, extras, etc that are part of the series. They are NOT the Mandalorian. We don’t give top billing to the stuntmen who do Deadpool over Ryan Reynolds, or erase James Earl Jones being Darth Vader, even though he was never in the actual Vader suit. So, I say it is bullshit that Pedro has been bumped to the side as if he’s some interloper in a production that he was the foundation of - nay, the star and driving force in crafting the persona and the physicality and LITERAL VOICE of the Mandalorian, Din Djarin. Seasons 1 and 2? He was in the suit more than half the time. Season 3 was different, yes, but to not even include an interview snippet of Pedro talking about his contribution to the season? Not having a single shoutout or acknowledgement of his participation? No one even said his fucking name in passing! 

I found the entire thing so abhorrent and disgusting that I frankly no longer have any excitement or enthusiasm for this series continuing beyond the already announced 4th season and film Filoni is going to do. Not if Pedro is going to be treated as a fucking gopher that isn’t good enough to be acknowledged. 

And what pisses me off the most? Pedro has been NOTHING BUT HUMBLE AND COMPLIMENTARY AND VOCAL about how Lateef and Brendan are massive influences in his performance and in collaborating to make the character the presence he is on the screen. He’s given those stunt fucks their flowers countless times, shouted out Filoni and Favreau, the writers, directors - literally everyone, and no one can even say, “Yeah, it was a fun season, but it needed more Pedro! I missed his presence”? BDH leaving comments praising the stunt fucks and tacking on Pedro as an afterthought? Like wtf is going on? 

Need I remind everyone about the fact Pedro has a scar on his nose because of the negligence of the set production people leaving a piece of real wood thrown on the ground by the makeup trailer, and he walked out and stepped on it and got whacked in the face by it?! He literally bled and got stitches for this series and never complained or said a disparaging word! But they can’t even say his name in passing on the 3rd season which was pretty reviled and panned for it’s lack of plot and continuity behind the scenes special?! I want him to do his VO work, collect his check, and give this series the deuces.

Pedro deserves better, and clearly got it on TLOU production, which I’m thankful for. He's a kind and generous person who doesn’t deserve this level of disrespect.

I wanted the big wedding, too. Without the hospital. And I feel a little underwhelmed by it. There should have been two eps to make it acutally work, I think.

And to being jade, I so feel ya. There is a certain lack of interest now. But I can't say by to Eddie or Ryan just yet.

And I love HenRen.

Yep, I felt underwhelmed, too.

I mean, in spite the watered down version of the wedding, Kenny and JLH are just so moving together, they genuinely love each other and it translates so beautifully on screen.

But yeah, I really wish they made it a 2h event and actually told the story better and also gave the space for a big beautiful, joyful wedding, with a first dance and JLH singing, it would have been epic, Madney deserved that much.

And Jaded is right, after 7 seasons they all should have been somewhere more, I don't know, advanced, next level?

I mean, I follow other firefighters shows, in season 7 all characters are so much more developed and progressed coming such a long way, with probies coming and going that in comparison to 911, 911 feels lacking, it's like the level of storytelling never progressed beyond surface level.

Even the calls that are supposedly supposed to be epic in scale and are strawn over several episodes have not been at the same level since the tsunami.

But you are right, as far as flawless development concerned the only one actually evolving and maturing since s4 finale, is Eddie.

He has come such a long way since S2 and S3. He is not the same man we first met in 2x01, and I am definitely here for him. That is the only thing that is keeping me watching.

I want to see where his story goes. I am on the edge of my seat especially after the last episode where we saw Eddie full of confidence and finally free to party and actually allow himself to have fun.

I am still mourning Eddie and Tommy friendship, from the little we saw that could have been an epic, out of the 118 circle, friendship.

But alas, the writers don't believe in good friendships for Buck and Eddie, everyone are fated to be a LI and eventually an ex.

Since we all learned long ago not to get attached to any guest character, I am merely biding my time until we reached some kind of point in either boys' story.

And how can anyone not love HenRen?? 😍😍

SaL anon here friend and, well, yay for low expectations indeed!!! The episode was a lot more fun than I was expecting (especially on the bee front, I really expected 10 minutes of bees then everyone moves on) and I admit to getting totally surprised by the final Buck saves Gerrard scene. It will definitely be interesting to see that play out. Maddie was actually pretty involved in the rescues, we got some HenRen and Madney family time (with tension, but still...), and the firefam (minus Bobby, poor guy 🥺) was in peak form. It was definitely way more balanced than I was expecting, its gonna be hard to tamp down on my optimism going forward.

So now for the the rage, which for once isn't directed at the show. May Helena get shoved into her brand new pool the moment its complete, and its debatable at this point if water should be in it or not when she does. I do love the idea that Helena is sort of a stand-in for Shannon that Eddie will eventually have to face and I hope he will. Eddie deserves to stand in front of the people who doubt him and say with his whole heart that he is a good father, that he's made mistakes but he's trying to do better (unlike Helena herself who just moved onto a substitute son), and he deserves to be Chris' dad. And when he does I do not want to see any hint of a redemption arc for her, we've done enough of that with shitty parents on this show and it needs to stop.

Speaking of irredeemable characters, let's talk about Tommy. So after reading the interviews I think I've convinced myself that Tommy Kinard really is Taylor Kelly 2.0, but this time its going to be done right. No, Tim hasn't earned this level of trust but hear me out. So its already been noted how similar the two are (being condescending to Buck, him having to chase after them, etc), but this "baggage" storyline I find intriguing because we all know about Tommy's past behavior and its seems like the most obvious issue. So not sure if you blocked it from memory but if you remember towards the end of 5a we had to endure an episode of TayKay backstory where we learn she basically wanted to become a reporter to "tell the truth" even though in fact she was doing the same harmful BS that was done to her. And Buck just accepted that, even though his adoptive Dad was a victim of it. What if he doesn't do that this time, doesn't just let Tommy off with the "I did it because it was done to me" excuse and it doesn't take the near death of one of his teammates to make him decide to walk away. For Buck to finally say, for himself, this person and I are not going to work, we value different things and I can't overlook that (no I'm not counting Natalia as him doing this because that was a barely there relationship and she was, in fact, creepy). That would probably be too narratively satisfying, but one can hope.

And as for Buddie, well, how many times do Oliver, Ryan, and the damn showrunner have to repeat how intertwined these two are before people get it?? They've certainly demonstrated that over and over again on screen (seriously how much more co-parent does it get than Eddie begging Buck to "do what he always does" regarding Chris in the final episode of the last season??!!) and we've already said that of course Tim is never going to take that back, he planned it that way!! And I know I shouldn't get my hopes up but honestly, if its been spelled out by all involved that these men are never going to be separated, that they will always have priority in each others lives including over other, new relationships (the only ones these men ever have 🤨), its really not a stretch to imagine that turning romantic, and I'd argue makes a hell of a lot of sense. As for my crack theory for today, I saw the one interview line about there being a brief moment between Buck and Eddie that demonstrates the depth of their relationship and my brain immediately went to "oooh, but what if they have a nice supportive hug in 8x06 but as they pull away look briefly like they're going to kiss....but back away instead as Buck walks away shaking his head like he's being silly while Eddie just quietly stares out a window" moment?? I would like to see it. Not looking forward to seeing at what point in the season the wine in my fridge becomes necessary to get through an episode, but I'm happy this episode wasn't it (cheers anyway though 🥂)!!

Hiiiiiii bestie! I had family in this weekend and had fully convinced myself they would show up late Friday with sleepy kids, drop them off, and go on their anniversary get-away and I could come answer this once everyone was in bed. Cut to people being in my home until after midnight and then non-stop toddler and newborn and 8 year-old shenanigans. But it's all quieted down so I'm here now!

I was pleasantly surprised as well!! (Which is the point of low expectations! Either I'm right (which I was about some things) or I'm pleasantly surprised! All wins except when they tunnel under the bar I set in hell.) The Athena stuff took a bit of a different turn than I was expecting before the episode started and I'm cautiously optimistic about all that, and the bees managed to give us a couple different emergencies, all scary in different ways, with lots of good Encyclopedia Buck! We had Maddie working her end of the emergency with some delicious tension and a happy ending, plus the brief Bobby and Henren/Madney stuff which while brief, set up for a lot more to come on those fronts and I'm excited for it! Despite my best efforts, I feel the excitement rising!

I am fully stretched, gloved up, and ready to fight Helena in a Denny's parking lot!! At least in the cases of Toni and Ramon we got some kind of acknowledgement that their actions hurt their kids and they felt bad about that (vs the Buckley parent's "I'm sorry you felt that way" kinda vibe where the play the victim), but Helena's actions have NEVER been brought up by anyone and i NEED it to be addressed!! I have also seen the posts about her being a Shannon stand-in for Eddie to confront which is about a million times better than some doppelganger plot no one wanted, needed, or asked for and that did not actually address the thing they kept teasing that it would, namely, that Eddie was looking at that relationship with rose colored glasses and not actually talking with his son about the reality they all lived now that Chris is old enough to start putting some pieces together and addressing his own hurt and abandonment. ANYWAY. i need Eddie to realize he IS a good dad, and go get his kid, even if Chris is still mad because what the FUCK they can't just keep him for months? What about his special school he had to fight to get Chris into? What about fucking TAXES because THAT can become an issue if given enough time. What about established doctors and insurance networks outside of the state? Like, this has made so many plot holes that it had better be fucking WORTH IT with some good Eddie scenes, taking Helena DOWN, and some good Diaz boys scenes of actually talking and addressing the Shannon of it all. Bonus points if we get Buck having his boy's backs!

I'm actually cackling quite often about the BT parallels because they are just SO many and SO loud like, ???? what are we even doing here? Especially after that fucking "hamster wheel" comment last season (when Oliver still had light and hope in his eyes because they were filming karaoke stuff) only for him to be in literally a mirror to his longest and worst relationship. SO, it actually would be so satisfying, as well as on brand for petty Tim, to do the story he wanted to do, and do it right this time when he found out it was going to be Buck not Eddie doing this storyline (people make me laugh believing Tim that L was supposed to come back when we know Eddie was the planned story at first and also 911 got canceled for the show AK is on right now so she was never available and after that marketing flop they were never going to bring her back but I digress). At this point I'm just hoping for SOMETHING narratively satisfying, and at LEAST hearing from Hen and Chim because GOOD GOD. No one in the firefam has ever once minded their own business and kept their mouths shut except when the show is trying to push a shitty LI and hope the audience forgot their actions, or when trying to redeem shitty parents without putting in the work. So I need the gag order to be lifted! I need them to be allowed to speak!

The Buddie stuff is...well....it's....sure a lot of very interesting things happening! Some interesting trends, and attitudes, and choices being made. And knowing that FOX was the thing standing in the way....Well. Where is my Night Vale Quote I use for these situations?

I'm all on board for your crack theory, or literally anything that gives us some delicious pining Buddie!! I'm not gonna lie friend, I'm feeling hopeful! In that way where I feel a little sick? But hopeful! So cheers, and here's hoping Eddie (and consequently Ryan, and Buck, and Oliver, and Buddie) finally gets out and we can all be insufferable forever and ever together! Yay!

I haven't been writing because, life, but I got a tiny tablet and keyboard to sneak into work so we'll see! Also, I was supposed to be out of the state on vacation this week but my mom messed up her back so we might not be going in which case I will try and do some writing enough to share a little something! Why were some people complaining about Hugh and Ulf's backstories shone? I mean yes, instead of those they could ahve used the time to showcase more of Helaena or Jace and Baela or just more of Aemond in an honest, raw moment OTHER than those brothel once. But they are somewhat correct in having Hugh and Ulf shown before they become dragonriders. They could have added all those AND the scenes we wanted, it would not have been a waste of run time, we would gladly see it instead of having end credits taking up the amount.

Yall gotta realise Hugh and Ulf were not some random hobos who answered the dragonseed call, they go on to be riders of the biggest dragons in that time besides Vhagar as well as having another agenda of their own later in the story. They need what drives them to be who they are, WHY they would be chosen by those majestic dragons who only had one riders before their hiatus.

For non-book readers, yes i know it might have gotten a little frustrating, that these random dudes are having their stories played. But come on, no offense but didnt you all realise that having a random character having random scenes REPEATEDLY is more than just some symbol for the other Smallfolk? That is how a show/movie plot works. It is the build up and it is somewhat necessary (But surely not at the cost of the main characters screen time, dat was one bitch move Ryan), why on Earth would they show only two specific bastards when there were hundreds scattered all around the Realm? Even some book readers too were complaining, and im like--yes, others deserved more time, but it does not mean Hugh and Ulf has to be flat characters randomly coming up and claiming the two huge power dragons? If Addam can get a background and some pov, so can those two. After all, they are not the ones getting burned.

Imo, giving more nuance to Ulf and Hugh one of the very few only good things Ryan and co. has done in this questionable series. But it did not have to be at the cost of the main characters, they could have included both. They had adequate screentime, as well as budget. 'Running has duration' is not an excuse, if they were TRUE, and proper and fking CREATIVE than they could have shown much and more of Aemond/helaena/Jace/Baela/Rhaena/Jeyn/Joffrey with few well placed dialogues and interactions. It is not about taking time, it is about having the creativity to have as much as they can within the restricted amount of time.
