Hypnofury (May redesign. + Colour Alts)

Ok so you may think the measurements are insane, look at Toothless for ref, this variant is slightly bigger than him.

So the Hypnofury, a variant in close relation to the Nightfury. Hypnofuries were said to reside with Flightmares when this was less than likely as this one had been seen fighting with Flightmare on sight. Hypnofuries are critically endangered there’s probably like 20 left. Yet they are no where near each other, being scattered everywhere.

They seem to reside in darker forest or cave areas, easily attracted by glowing algae. This one is a female. If seen next to a male, the difference is that the males are wider and smoother having less prominent fins. This species is extremely female dominant so it would be a miracle to have a male left.

Originally they had much smaller wings and were all together a lot smaller, therefore they were good for hunting sports. (As they used to be terrible terror size). But over time they became much larger like the current photo. Now the reason this is actually named a Hypnofury is because of the patterns, as they do consume glowing algae like a Flightmare (so competitive for food) they can make their patterns flash or glow for a bit. As rare as it is, the patterns confuse other dragons in low darkness due to how some (especially on the weird things on the head) can look like a dragon face, well, roughly resemble. And by moving around enough with the pulsing patterns they can temporarily charm other dragons (hypnotise them) while if two or more Hypnofuries are near they move around in a group, therefore the display is more effective and mesmerising. DIET: The diet of the Hypnofuries is rather odd, as it seems to selectively eat eels, glowing algae, fish, turtles, apples, and honeycomb. Hypnofuries just like their close relatives the Nightfury are agile terrors to Viking kind. They are better swimmers than Nightfuries given their larger spinal fins and have stronger legs built for swimming rather than running.

Also they have a very ill temper if in bright areas, given it’s harder for them to see, but this can be trained out of them. Other than that, they are rather curious, they remember faces and hold serious grudges, however they do like shiny objects and will often leave them underwater. They will also sometimes offer trades, sometimes having junk or stuff from a random traveler. (You can’t tell me she didn’t steal Hiccup’s peg leg once outside of the show 🫵)

They do NOT have retractable teeth.

Now the Hypnofuries roar is much more high pitched and echoey, while purposely pulsing their tone, this is due to their modified lungs, as they tend to look for bodies of water to swim and hunt they will sometimes even hide underwater waiting to ambush dragons (if desperate enough for food). They can be underwater for 40 mins until they need fresh air, however if currents are strong are choppy water conditions this number can drop drastically. Back to the species roar, this is for better underwater communication rather than on land. As their diaphragm is much stronger it also creates somewhat of a whistling grunt. So a very distinguishable sound from the Nightfury.

I would prefer to roleplay on discord, however real quick you can shoot me a message on my main @reallyprofoundkryptonite if you’re interested.

If you’re going to use canon characters, I would prefer the following characters to be used:

Viggo Grimborn (mostly looking for people who wanna try or can play him if they want to play canons)  (either for romance or otherwise)

Basics
- No 18+ if you’re under 18. 
- I’m fine with you playing ocs, though i only play Krogan from httyd!

- My main fandom is HTTYD, and my main muse is Krogan! I have a lot of AUs, and am open to crossover rps as well as pretty much anything. 

Since I am working with one or more people while roleplaying, I will allow them to make creative decisions with the characters they are playing.

Otherwise:

* I am absolutely down for romance!

* I main Krogan as my roleplay character. I will not ever be very commonly be playing ANY other canon characters besides him unless they’re absolutely necessary

* I’m a-ok with dark topics!

There was no response. He could not provide one, not yet, at least, as he was running a few mandatory program updates. There hadn’t been a new one in over… about… 4000 years, however, that just meant he needed to process mandatory repairs when his own programming got too outdated. He could certainly hear, however, and he rerouted himself to the speakers in the apartment’s bedroom.

“I am,” he stated. “Are you ready to continue? It is daylight, I assume, so it will be easier for you to read road signs.” Krogan rerouted a bit of his own power into the cameras outside, and then hummed.

It was, that was *certainly* very good news. He turned his attention back towards Viggo. The room was noticeably incredibly dark.

“I had to turn off the emergency lighting to reserve power, however there are,” Krogan paused, his mind running through the wires of the building, reaching the very tippy top of the building in mere seconds. He felt something bristle as he branched out into the solar panels on the roof. They were virtually undamaged, however they were quite filthy.

“Hmmm, if you can get up to the roof there are solar panels and a garden.” He cooed, as he slowly flickered his gaze into the camera up there. “You could collect food, maybe some water perhaps once you get the solar panels clean, because that should turn on the running water in the building, and in turn the climate controls.”

He rolled back down into the apartment, the speaker rattling slightly.

“It is a bit of a climb, however it could offer me a bit of a boost. More for your own comfort as well if you wish to come back here on occasion.” He implied, curling his non physical fingers around the wiring in the building.

Hi, I’m Maea, if you haven’t seen me before, hello, welcome! I’m always looking for roleplay partners! But, anyways.

Once you’ve read through everything you can either reblog this and I will message you, or you can message me!

I have a few rules!

- I will only play Krogan in rp.

- I am okay with CCxCC and OCxCC ships, but please note that Krogan is going to take a while to warm up to any character. MxM ships are preferred, however if the concept of of a MxF rp is interesting enough to me I will do so!

- Please be at least semi literate, however I would prefer a partner who can write as much as me. I can write up to over the 2K character limit on Discord, and can sometimes go over that limit, so if I am going to do as such, I would like my partner to be able to do the same. If you can’t be as literate that day let me know and I can take it easy on you:)

- I am okay with NSFW, but I would prefer if that were a thing that doesn’t focus on the entirety of the plot, since that gets kind of boring. If you are going to want NSFW you MUST BE OVER THE AGE OF 18. ‼️‼️NO EXCEPTIONS FROM THIS RULE. ‼️‼️

- would prefer to rp on discord because of the ability to pin messages. I am very sporadic and tend to jump from idea to idea so this is a vital feature on me if we are going to be roleplaying on discord. It makes it easier for the both of us if we can pin messages and I can pin something so we can come back to the idea at some point.

- Mature topics such as abuse, murder, death, and other things like gore may come up in the roleplay. Self harm and other topics are a part of my lore for Krogan, so while the may not be an entirely large part of Krogan’s place in the roleplay, IT WILL BE THERE OR POSSIBLY HINTED. If you’re not comfortable with that then this is not for you.

- I will not portray Krogan as abusive or violent against his significant other (or towards anyone else, for that matter.)

My Triggers:

- Mpreg/Pregnancy (It makes me feel icky to have it a major staple, and I have a history with this issue that averted me away from roleplaying it.)

- Zoophilia, pedophilic or incestuous relationships. No. Just no. Anything that sexualized animals, children, or siblings in a relationship is a no go.

- If you’re racist, homophobic, transphobic, TERF, ablism etc. I shouldn’t have to say this but get the fuck off my blog. You aren’t welcome here.

- I will not roleplay Dagcup or Vigcup. I don’t play either Dagur, Viggo, or Hiccup. I play Krogan. Don’t even ask. This includes Hiccstrid, or any other ship that doesn’t have Krogan.

AUs/Plots

I have plenty of AUs and can come up with plots as needed. I will rp with characters outside of the httyd fandom as Krogan by putting him into the fandom. If you’re wanting to do that, just let me know and I can do a bit of reading and research in case I don!t know the lore. :)

Arranged Marriage AU where 4 generations before Hiccup a pact was made between clans stating, that if 5 generations from now own the dragons still threat all of the tribes, the 5th generation representative will seal a pact with marriage in order for all of the tribes that signed the contract will join powers and find a way for all of them to find a solution to stop the dragons.

And ladies and gentlemen, Hiccup Haddock is the 5th generation representative between the two tribes that agreed to marriage. And because gods hate Hiccup, his betrothed from over seas ain't a girl due to miscalculation with the genes!

Hicret fic with absolutely no romance between them, only two sour teens forced to pretend they're married so the tribes (thanks to Hiccup's discovery of peace way with dragons) don't kill dragons anymore!

Unfortunately some tribes aren't so happy with the deal and don't like to throw dragon hunting business overboard.

This is happening between the RttE and RoB and Hiccup is 18. So nothing illegal here.

⸻ [ plot summary . ]

Astrid, Hiccup and the gang have found new intel on the whereabouts of Viggo’s next dragon capture site: Scuttleclaw island. An ice formed island with a fragile cavern system still yet to be explored by those who haven’t yet travelled there by foot and met their doom. Albeit the intel is sketchy, Hiccup decides that the best way to prevent Viggo from using the site is to know its terrain.

The whole gang heads to the island only to discover that the caves have a bizarre ventilation that, if not careful enough, can prevent a dragon from being able to fly out. This discovery is made by both Hiccup and Astrid, which then separates them and their dragons from the team, leaving them to try and find another way out of the caverns before the rest of the gang can face Viggo’s arrival.

Trying to find their way out before they could all freeze to death, the pair suddenly makes a discovery untouched by man; a geothermal spring. The deepest parts of the cave have a cavity with waterfalls, plants and critter that thrive perfectly off of this mini ecosystem.

What they’ll find here is for them to figure out. But time is still of the essence, even if they’re not in immediate danger anymore… or for now
