Far away from the compound Akhenaten was enjoying a cup of coffee in her own pocket dimension. From what Achilles and Noel had told her, Alethea was no different from the typical imperial who was kept ignorant. So, the sorceress’ package must have shook her world. She knew the inquisitor would have questions, and would look for proof. Akhenaten’s eyes went to the shelves full with evidence she’d collected over the years. Part of it came from communing with the dead. An old tradition from her homeworld. Heavens knew how much effort it took to collect whatever knowledge she could get during the Thousand Son’s crushing of Gaznir’s rebellion.
-------
As the mercenary made her way to the capital she hoped her wards would work. Her in-between state made the psyker the perfect snack for warp predators and warp-plagues. Plus, she’d rather avoid fighting a greater deamon. Could she do it? Yes. Was it like pulling teeth? Yes. Did it make her feel like she was standing on the edge of a knife? Yes. Would she rather do it after having the chance to prepare herself? Yes, yes, and yes.
There was no way of knowing if she would have access in this god-forsaken world to whatever she’d need to increase her chances of success. So she stuck to those roads that went through areas with low spiritual corruption. It didn’t matter that it would take her longer getting to the capital. She’d rather arrive in one piece, please and thank you.
As she travelled the long and winding road she meditated on what she was. She knew the Architect of Fate had sunk its claws on the Thousand Sons since the beggining. Hence the Flesh Change being its creation.
Funny, all those years fearing it would take her; only for it to become a reality. And it didn’t happen spontaneusly. Ahriman’s rubric had forever erased all chances of that. The only two ways it could currently strike a thousand son was either through magical misshaps, or by submitting oneself voluntarily to it.
And Akhenaten got it through the first one. The rubric of Ahriman had been the straw that broke the camel’s back.
And I didn’t have the passion anymore. And so it is, it is better to burn out than to fade away.
So overcome was she with grief that when she learned the chaos spawn who had been Horemheb was wandering the dunes of a crone-world she went there. To take them both out of their misery. She threw every warning she’d gotten agaisnt pushing herself too hard to the wind. What were the chances she would survive this?
But she did. And was she was catching her breath after the hard battle something stirred beneath her flesh. The psyker was well on the way to becoming a chaos spawn when something halted the change. Could it have been the relic she found in some ruins a long time ago?
It took her a long time to figure out what she was. An ascended being. Someone who had trascended their post-human state. Existing in an in-between state, because there were only two paths they could take.
Something similar to her gene-sibling Asthortas the inscontant. A constantly mutating critter whose armor was the only constant part of him. He believed himself to be on the edge of his final mutation, one that would finally decide if he would arise as a Daemon Prince or turned into a Mutalith Vortex Beast like the ill-fated Hasophet.
And none of the paths semt apetitizing to her.
Lady Forlorn (for that was the alias with which the mercenary identified herself), kept her rant about the Imperium.
How could the Emperor demand to not be worshipped, when he cloaked himself in the trappings of one? No wonder Lorgar Aurelian, the Urizen, had said that only a true god would deny his divinity.  Yes, that Lorgar, the man who wrote the Lectitio Divinitatus, which kickstarted the Imperial Cult.
The Emperor had thought he could teach Lorgar a lesson by hummiliating him and his Legion in front of the Ultramarines after the destruction of Monarchia. The only thing that achieved was his son, Lady Forlorn’s uncle, running to the arms of Chaos. Erebus and Kor Phaeron took advantage of him in his moment of weakness. And what followed was 45 years of treason and plots, culminating in the Istvaan III massacre.
She swore she would submit Kor Phaeron and Erebus to all sorts of torments before they begged her to let them die.
The more Lady Forlorn spoke about Lorgar, the more obvious it became she loved him and was hurt by his betrayal. He was one of the uncles she was close to.  All thanks to his friendship with the Crimson King.
This could only mean one thing. Lady Forlorn was the gene-child of Magnus the Red.
The next part of Lady Forlorn’s narration was chronicling how she managed to get off the planet.
Once she was healed, the psyker tried looking for her rag tag band of mercs. They had become separated during the cultist’s attack on the ill-fated nobles’ manor. Hopefully they would still be alive and their vehicle still intact.
Unfortunately, when she arrived to the next town she found signs of their demise. But at least some of them survived and went to the planet’s capital, which gave her an idea to where she would have to go. She only hoped a Greater Daemon wouldn’t kill her. Heavens knew those were becoming more common in the world.

Inside the package was a collection of data chips, journals and photo albums. Fragments of an older age. The scent of old paper filled the air. On top of the first journal was a note carefully written in cursive.
“I hope this package finds you in good health. Inside you will find the testimony of the sad fate which befell Quintus VII. A calm world in Segmentum Pacificus that one day had the bad luck of being unable to pay tithes after a series of famines. Instead of help, what they got was Imperial retribution. It didn’t take long for the people to hear whispers in the dark.
I would suggest to start with the first journal by A.J. Jameson. The records are ordered in a chronological order.
Best regards.”
C.K.
An innocent looking package appears on top of Alethea's desk. There's no sign of who sent it. It feels heavy.
Strange. Alethea gave the package a sort of side-eye, not entirely sure when or why the package had shown up. She had, after all, been in the process of clearing out what few documents remained in preparation of departing the base entirely.
So for this to appear when everything else had been removed? It might have been missed if she hadn’t decided to double-check the space that had been used as an office.
Curiosity got the better of her. The Inquisitor quietly examined the package to ensure it wasn’t potentially hiding an explosive or a Warp-tainted object. And then it’s carefully opened, not entirely sure what she was expecting to find.

open the anonymous present. go on. tell us.
Fine, but I will wear gloves just to be sure in case it's something dangerous or contagious after all. Maybe a mask as well in case it's anthrax or any other nice things for fan/enemy mail. I did receive many things via mail before, so I know how to handle those things.
The package isn't that big, it's a square box of about 6 inches per side. It's not heavy, when you shake it it doesn't sound metallic when it moves around inside, so it shouldn't be something mechanical or explosive.
I opened it and there is a second smaller red box inside it. And it feels somehow sticky. Maybe there is something organic inside, releasing a sticky liquid that leaks out of the box slightly.
I am opening it and- is that human? It looks human, the size fits, probably a male as it's bigger. The shape of the auricle and the number of pulmonary veins indicates it's human. Well I might have just received a case as well with this package, because how else do you get a human heart without something illegal involved? Well I have my ways, but most other people don't. I will have to investigate this further.

MAKING A RIBBON COLLAR FOR CHESIRE WAS SUCCESSFUL!!!
<Attached is a photo of Chesire! The fluffy Sprigatito now has a pink collar made out of what seems to be high quality ribbon, with a decently sized bow on the back of it. He seems more preoccupied with something offscreen, though.>
Also he's getting along with the rest of my Pokémon so far!! He likes playing with Lemon a lot surprisingly- I honestly expected it to take awhile for him to warm up to the others, but I'm not complaining.

Continued from here | @fcrgottn
As Winter stepped through the new door, it brought them to another memory. Instead of being on the ground like one would expect, Winter was floating with a side view of the temple.
Gem Steven and Amethyst was horsing around by the edge of temple's cliff. Human Steven's voice could be heard loud as if he were right next to them despite the fact that Winter was several feet away floating at the mountain's height.
"Guys, be careful!" Human Steven replied. "What's got you worked up, little man?" Amethyst asked, "Awww, do you care about me or something??" She said squishing her face and doing a silly voice.
"Yea, I do care about you both." "Aww Steven, I didn't mean to make you--- woaahhhhhh." She replied stretching backwards to dramatically emphasize her movements about fake falling.
Human Steven yelped, "Amethyst! Please stop, you're gonna fall!" He got closer to her. Gem Steven turned to see that Amethyst was just joking around and couldn't help but chuckled at Amethyst being a dork even though Pearl's told him plenty of times not to encourage her when she gets like this, watching her do flips getting marginally closer to the edge.
Human Steven was worried little tears foaming at the corner of his eyes, "Amethyst, please stop, you're gonna get hurt." Gem Steven seeing how it was upsetting his brother and went over to agree, "Yea, Amethyst, I think we've pushed our luck enough for today." "Geez, Stevens, you guys don't need to stress out so much. I'm a gem warrior.... I'm not gonna fall--" Amethyst on the very edge of the cliff had fallen off. The Stevens yell, "Amethyst!!" Gem Steven jumps after her, Human Steven yells, "Steven!!" Then makes his way down the temple's mountain the safer way by carefully speed walking down the grassy path, while Gem Steven falls faster so he can catch up, and knocks Amethyst out of the way, Amethyst rolls and kicks up the sand and dirt as she lands, while Gem Steven wipes his brow relieved but tries to stop himself from falling so fast but slams into the rock at the bottom of the cliff. There is a bright flash of pink light and Gem Steven groans in pain as he slides down the side of the rock.
Human Steven huffs and puffs rushing to Amethyst, "Amethyst... Amethyst... are you ok??" Amethyst gets up and checks the gem in the palm of her hand, "Yea yea, I'm fine... see no big deal." She brushed herself like she wasn't just tackled by a small child midair.
Human Steven went over to Gem Steven, "Bro? Are you ok?" He asked with a frown. Gem Steven used the rock as support. "I'm alright... just " He coughed a bit, "Think I swallowed a bug on the way down."
Pearl and Garnet came around the corner, "See, I told you they'd be here... Amethyst, do I have to remind you again you shouldn't be messing around up on the mountain like that?" "P-girl, don't worry about it, it's all good... No harm done as uuush." Amethyst folded her arms behind her back. "Steven, are you ok??" Pearl asked holding Human Steven close making sure there's no cuts or bruises. "Yea, just out of breath from running down the mountain..." "Steven, are you ok?" She turned to Gem Steven "Yea, I'm good." He replied, a split second before his body glitched out, jolting pain through out his body and his pink poofy locks were replaced with the giant mane of pink coiled curls.
The four of them let out a gasp. "What... what did a gem monster like land on my head and is too adorable to punch or something?" Gem Steven asked. "Steven, let me see your gem." Gem Steven seemed confused and lifted his shirt. Pearl's eyes widened, "Amethyst! Of all the irresponsible things, I can not believe you would be so reckless around the boys!" "Hey, I didn't ask Steven to jump down after me and push me out of the way!" "Amethyst, do you not see that Steven is cracked!" "... I mean I knew something was wrong with me but you don't need to call me out on it." Gem Steven replied. "hey... what does that mean? Is Steven gonna die???" Human Steven was whimpering. "No, he's not going to die, but it is going to get worse if we don't do something about it now." Garnet replied. "But Steven's cracked I highly doubt his healing powers are going to be working properly right now." "Maybe I could try?" Human Steven suggested. "That's a sweet thought Steven, but you're a human, you haven't exactly demonstrated any other powers other than your shield... and you can barely hold that for more than a few seconds... and that's even if you don't get winded... not to mention you are still trying to catch your breath, please don't push yourself so hard, you're so fragile."
"So do I just have to live with this crack now?" Gem Steven asked. "No... we're going to have to head to Rose's fountain." "Ah yes, Rose's fountain." "Mom had a fountain?" The two Steven's tilted their head confused.
"Oh yes, she did, it was like a lush garden filled with the most beautiful rose bushes, with a gorgeous fountain that had multiple statues in your mother's visage that we used during the war since your mother couldn't just continually cry on everyone that was injured... it has been years since we've been there.... I wonder how it's faired since then."
The memory shifted like it was windows in movie maker transitioning to the next screen. The fountain was overgrown covered in thorned vines, Pearl let out so noises of disappointment at how this safe refugee for the gems had faired the march of time without Rose around to tend to the garden. "Oh dear, how are we going to deal with all this overgrown flora?"
Gem Steven huffed trying to hold his hair out of his eyes, "Ugh, my arm's getting tired... how did mom deal with having all this heavy hair all the time??" He asked, before he saw one of the vines starting to menacingly get closer to Human Steven, "Steven, watch out!" He replied, jumping in between him and the vine, but then Amethyst turning to the noise pulled both Stevens away from the plants. The fast movement caused Gem Steven's crack to get deeper, he yelped in pain. Pearl and Garnet looked over hearing his yelp in pain as his body glitched into Rose but his hair now his usual pink poofy hair. He took a sharp breath before letting out a soft,
"at least that hairs better." He huffed out in his mother's voice and clamped his mouth shut. "Amethyst! You're making his crack worse." Pearl told her off. "Well, excuse me for keeping the Stevens' safe from the plants that were trying to hurt Steven." Amethyst crossed her arms. Pearl was going to reply before Garnet then punched the rock through the layers of overgrowth. "Ah, Garnet!" Pearl exclaimed in surprise, holding the sides of her hair. "There, now we can go find what's causing the problem. Amethyst stay with the Stevens, Pearl come with me." "Yes, of course. This is completely fine. Let us go solve the problem." Pearl looked like she was about to be sick from the damage to Rose's plants.
Human Steven and Amethyst were sitting with the cracked Gem Steven who was sitting on the side of the fountain, "I wonder if I could try shapeshifting back to normal?" "Steven, don't... if you try to use your powers your gonna make it worse and Pearl's never gonna let me hear the end of it if you end up being some sort of weird glitchy dog." "Alright... any other ideas?" "Well, I can try and heal you." "I mean you're gonna have to do that if Pearl and Garnet can't get the fountain fixed."
"Alright... so mom had healing tears... so I guess you'd have to cry on me... but I don't wanna see you cry... seeing you any kind of upset makes me feel bad." Gem Steven replied. "Yea, but I wanna help you and if I have to make myself cry I will." ".. but don't push yourself ok? I don't wanna have to explain why you pooped yourself." Amethyst chuckled. "I'm not gonna poop myself, Amethyst." He replied crossing his arms with a blush on his face, embarrassed and insulted at the very idea of it.
