Jail Break | @blackstardiopside
The sound of a melody lingering in the darkness, a voice unfamiliar to the young fusion before he woke with a start. He looked around the room he was now in. He groaned as he got to his feet, feeling the pulsing pain in his right eye from the blackeye that he was given from being headbutt by Jasper. He looked around seeing that he was in a cold, green cell. There was no toilet, no sink, no bed…. it seemed more barbaric than any cartoon jail that either of the Stevens had ever witnessed, but of course, this was a jail made for a Gem… they don't eat, they don't need to go to the bathroom, they don't need to sleep. "Where are we?" He had muttered to himself, themselves. He was still sort of new to the whole fusion thing, and this was the first time since he's seen action was being eaten by a corrupted fusion of gems that he had deemed a giant bird.
As the fusions pink colored eyes with their differently shaped and colored pupils, a white star in his semi swollen right eye and a black diamond in his left. They scanned around the room for more information of their settings, their eyes landed on the piss yellow colored forcefield keeping them contained in this jail cell. A subtle air of hopelessness filled the air. His eyes squinted as the fusion had thought.
"Wait, this holding sell was built to hold gems… that's why Garnet, Amethyst and Pearl haven't come to bust us out… so that means it's up to us." The pupils of their eyes changed to white as the fusion following Human's logic pushed their finger tips against the barrier, he jolted backward the pupils turning black. "Ah!! That feels weird… I don't like it…"
"Just like I thought, it was made to keep a gem contained… but we're not just a gem… just bare with me… I think we can get through this just… let's push it a little further ok? Ok…" The fusion took a deep breath, their pupils turned turned to their respective colors of white star in their right eye and a black diamond in their left, as the fusion pushed through the forcefield with some resistance. The yellow destabilization field started trailing up their arm lighting up just beneath the skin in the pattern of something similar to a circuit board. "Ewww… Cool!" The fusion replied with a tone of discomfort before shifting to a tone of interest, then pushed through the barrier fully, a shiver trailed down their shared spine, frizzing out their fluffy dual toned hair.
"Uh… hello… are you ok?" The fusion asked, startling the gem in the cell. The gem in question was a Ruby... not that the fusion would know that. She had long red fluffy hair that went down to just below her shoulders. She had a dark red pair of shoulder pads, a matching belt and thigh high boots. She had a maroon vest with matching shorts with a sort of pinkish or really light red v neck type shirt underneath where the points of the v had met where her gemstone was. The gemstone in question looked almost familiar to the fusion cause it sported a 5 facets with a square at the center and was the same placement as Garnet's own.
"We're out… Wooo!" Steven Squared pumped their fist as if they scored a goal, before shaking his head reminding themselves they need to get back on task. "Gotta find the gems." He headed down the hallway, almost passing another gem before it sounded like she was going through literal torture despite her just being alone in the cell.
"Is that another gem? She looks frustrated…"
"Steven, we don't know this gem… we need to find Garnet, Amethyst and Pearl…"
"Yea but she could help us find the others."
"Or she could be dangerous like the other homeworld gems… do you really wanna risk that?"
"Steven, she needs our help… I'm sure if we show a little kindness we'll get home sooner than us having to deal with this ourselves… please just trust me on this."
"Fine."
She slammed her fist into the wall beside her. The fusion stood back on guard from the sound, checking the hallways wanting to make sure that Jasper or Peridot wouldn't find them.
"Great, this is just perfect!" The red gem said aggravated, raking her fingers through her long fluffy red hair.
The fusions left eye twitched a bit, indicating that Gem Steven was getting irritated with the confusing mixed signals, while Human Steven was focused on the gem wanting to help in any way they could. The gem then paused turning to look at Steven Squared. "Wait… how did you get out of the forcefields?" She asked seemingly more confused than frustrated at this point.
"Do you need any help?" The fusion asked.
"No!! I mean… ugh… don't look at me, just go away." The other huffed with an irritated grumble, turning away from the fusion.
"Oh… well, I just sort of walked through it like this." He replied, demonstrating by pushing his hand through. The gem behind the barrier went to warn them but seeing as they could just pass through confused her even more. She attempted to do the same and yelped as the barrier had made her form glitch out. "What's going on here?"
Before the fusion could answer the question about how he was half human, the melody from before could be heard once more. The pupils on the fusion turned from their black and white colors respectively turned to completely black pupils in both eyes as his tone of voice seemed confused. "Is someone singing?"
"Sapphire." The red gem replied.
Steven Squared holding the forcefield open, breathing heavily as the weird feeling and the tingling spread showing more of these circuitry lines under neath his skin. His voice sounding like he was talking into a fan. "And we'll do this together." She slide out form underneath the arch that Steven had created and already started running down the hallway.
"Sapphire... is she your friend? We- er I'm looking for my friends too.... well they are more of my family, but either way..."
"Let me outta here, please! I need to find Sapphire!" The gem spoke with desperation in her voice, almost to the point where she was pulling at her hair again. "She's all alone, I need to find her!"
"Right. We'll find our friends." He replied holding the forcefield open.
Steven Squared followed the hyper focused red gem, "Hey. My name's Steven... what's yours?" He asked attempting to get some sort of name to go with their face, only to be met with a harsh. "Quiet..." She held her head again, before muttering about being unable to see. Steven Squared seemed confused since the gem could clearly see him before, was the panic over this Sapphire causing her some sort of blindness. He paused, before the unnamed red gem headed down the corridor, while Steven Squared did his best to keep up.
Eventually coming across another gem. The outline of the dress excited the red gem before her expression soured seeing that it was Lapis. "Oh... it's just you..." She racked her fingers through her hair as she passed around. Steven Squared looked at Lapis through the piss yellow barrier that shielded the colors from him other then the various shades of yellow that the force field had tinted her gems light formed body. "Lapis?"
"How many other gems are trapped here?"
"Don't know, don't care." Before she skidded to a stop, in front of the window. Steven Squared pausing to admire the beauty of out space despite the current situation they were in. Before his attention was brought back from the pretty look of the Earth viewed from the Homeworld ship they were on, hearing the red gem note that Sapphire had stopped singing, and ran down the hall way again.
The fusion was so glad to see a familiar face but seeing her new form implied to them that she was hurt when she had left to return to homeworld. Gem Steven's thoughts swirling into a frenzy.
"This bitch."
"Steven, be nice."
"Steven, be serious here... how the hell would the other gems know where we lived? Homeworld hadn't bothered Earth for thousands of years then suddenly this bitch heads home and we have gems knocking at our front door like the FBI... she told homeworld where we lived... I mean look at her."
"Yea, she looks like she was hurt badly like Pearl was when I was first learning how to sword fight."
"Or, she was just given a fancy new set of clothing and status and this is just a fucken front to make us sympathize with the enemy!"
"Steven! She was trapped in a mirror for thousands of years."
"Yea, and you ever think to why she'd be trapped in a mirror if it weren't for being a double crossing backstabbing two sided bitch? Even she told the gems off for not knowing who she was like they had a clue in the first place... bitch."
"Steven, she was upset for being trapped for thousands of years... look at her... she looks so scared and lost."
"Yea, she's so lost and scared, and she totally knows who I am in every way, shape and form, because I'm totally a liar and she knows me better than I know myself... oh wait she doesn't know jackshit about me and then claimed that I wasn't who I said I was... then went back to the same people who put her into the fucking mirror in the first place. I don't trust her."
"Steven, I know that you and her got off on the wrong foot, but clearly she needs our help... please."
"UGH, fine, we will offer our help... if she does anything to piss me off I say we bounce... I'm not gonna waste my time to help someone who doesn't appreciate the help I've already given her."
"Steven, you healed her gem because you thought she was a tool..."
"Well, maybe she should have told Pearl in the 1000s of fucking years that she was in a mirror that she was actually a gem who was nice and trapped in a bad situation, but nah, fuck that idea, I guess."
"Steven, be nice... you don't know how it was to actually be in the mirror and forced to work all the time... maybe she never thought to ask for help because she didn't think it was an option to ask for help."
"Bull fucking shit, how the fuck are you able to capture and replay moments you've witnessed while in a mirror during a fucking war yet never witnessed someone yelling for back up or that they're trapped?? Cause she was talking to you but she was using moments she had watched and she replayed them in all sorts of orders to create cohesive sentences when she was talking with you, so I don't wanna hear that 'oh maybe she never thought to ask for help.' You are the perfect kind of person to be manipulated because you are so wonderful and kind and trusting and she's a bitch, who played you like a fucking fiddle."
Gem Steven's rage made the fusions left fist clench into a ball, wanting to punch this gem in the face for calling them disgusting. It was one thing for her to be upset about being trapped, he could understand being falsely accursed for crimes that he didn't commit since not even half an hour ago, he was confronted with Jasper calling him by his mothers name... hell, he even recalled Lars telling them off about how their 'weird' mom had ruined his chances with the cool kids, because NO ONE IN THAT GROUP HAD THE COMMON SENSE TO STAY OUT OF A TAPED OFF AREA THAT SAID "KEEP OUT" ALL OVER IT.
The fusion rolled their eyes before the pupils went from black to white as he went to talk to Lapis. Lapis seemed joyed to hear the familiar voice, until she turned around and saw the two of them fused together. It was already unheard of for two gems to fuse of different rankings to fuse, but a gem and a human, it was even more disgusting than two gems fusing. The look of disgust clear on her face, shot a small pang through the fusion's chest.
"Lapis... I can get you free." The fusion had stated despite Lapis' clear disgust in seeing them.
"Stop!"
"It's ok, Lapis, the barrier doesn't hurt me..."
"No, I don't want your help! Things were bad enough on Homeworld." She held herself. "I've already made too much trouble."
"See I told you she ratted us out."
"Steven, shhh."
"Once we get to homeworld, they are gonna decide what they are going to do with us... and it'd be best if you got out of that disgusting form you're using." Lapis remarked.
But this was not just some jerky teenager, or some dumbass from Steven's school, or a battle hardened gem who didn't know or bother to learn his name... this was someone his brother cared about openly calling them disgusting for just showcasing their close bond as brothers. It made his cheeks burn red with rage, but Human Steven's calming presence and gentle touch on his arm caused the fusion to mimic the motions of trying to hold back his arm from raising a hand against another person.
"Lapis... do you really wanna stay trapped in this prison instead of letting me help?"
"UGH, I DON'T HAVE TIME FOR THIS." Ruby yelled in the middle of their conversation as she sped off. The fusion turned, Gem Steven shared the sentiment but Human Steven was determined to convince Lapis. He was her beach summer fun buddy after all.
"Steven... or whatever you call this thing, I don't know what you're trying to do, just stop. If we do everything they say they might go easy on us."
His pupils went from both being white to having the usual white and black with his left eye twitching from the sheer irritation that this gem is putting him through. "But they're mean... they hurt my friends, they hurt my face... they put you in a jail cell... and you're just gonna sit there and take it?? Because they might go easy on us??"
"That's why we can't fight them."
Steven Squared's eyes shifting colors to having black pupils again, the rage evident in his voice.
"That's why we should! This is not the kinda thing that my mom had stood for, she stood against the tyranny of homeworld, that's why this big war was fought for Earth and you're telling me to forget all that my mom fought for and to sit back and just let it happen?!"
Steven Squared looking Lapis in the eyes with his pure black pupils, while his right arm holds his left arm back, before it relaxes as he turns away so only the black diamond eye is looking back.
"Ugh, I don't expect you to understand a thing, you're just some freak. If you really valued your brother like you claim, you'd stop this nonsense and just go back to your cell and just let them decide what's best."
Steven Squared clenched his teeth shut, Gem Steven was this close to fighting this so called scared, lost, defenseless gem while she was in her cell, but Human Steven held him back.
"Steven, we don't have to keep trying to convince her... we should find the gems... we can try and help her later."
"No... I told you already that I am not going to waste my time with anyone who doesn't appreciate my help... if she'd rather have Homeworld punish her for crimes she didn't do, so be it."
"Steven..."
"No, don't 'steven' me with that tone of voice... er... internal echoey voice thing... I told you we'd offer she told us to fuck off, end of discussion... Like the other gem, we don't have time for this. We need to get the gems, and get back home."
"Fine.. you don't want our help.. enjoy your punishment while we get off this ship and leave you here since you clearly made your bed, I'll let you lie in it." Lapis held herself, and the fusion went to go find where the red gem had rushed off too.
Eventually, heading down just the right hallway with a branching hallway that the fusion hid in. As Peridot and Jasper had walked by. "We can't leave yet! The whole point of this mission was to check on the cluster!"
Jasper huffed irritated before slamming her fist on the wall by one of the sealed up cells. "STOP SINGING!"
"Go to Earth, they said... it'll be easy, they said." Peridot walking down the hallway not seeing the short fusion in the hallway adjacent before heading out as soon as the coast was clear, then walked to the gem who was in her cell, and singing again.
Peridot shrunk down a bit at the noise, before Jasper turned, "Rose Quartz take's priority." Peridot looked a bit irritated, as Jasper continued. "Go back to the bridge and set a course for Homeworld."
Peridot lingering behind before Jasper walks away.
"Thank you, Steven." She replied ducking under the others self made archway. The Sapphire in question was about Steven's height. She had a light blue short bob cut with an almost off white bluish tiara accessory, with a strapless dress that had a heart shaped top with blue shall that went over the darker blue dress that covered her legs, and she sported a pair of nearly full arm length gloves.
"Hey... I like your song." The fusion smiled, "You must be Sapphire... the other one said that was your voice."
"You escaped?"
He pushed through the barrier, letting her through the forcefield.
"Of course..." Much like before the fusion sounded like they were talking into a fan as the ushered her out the opening they made. "Come on it's safe."
Steven Squared paused, confused on how the other already knew his name, but before he was given time to respond with a thanks or ask how she knew his name. They heard the gem from before yell out Sapphire's name, and without so much as another word, the blue gem, held the fusion's hand and zoomed down the hall before they were at the other end of the hallway.
The two gems start smooching and hold each other close, Ruby scooping up Sapphire into her arms, and spinning around with the other as they giggled. Steven Squared paused, questioning if he should be watching this but couldn't look move to look away or cover his eyes, only to be met with the sight of the two of their forms merging into one another, revealing Garnet.
"Ruby!" She let go of Steven as the other two embarrassed each other.
"Did they hurt you?"
"No, no, I'm ok... Did they hurt you?"
"Who cares?"
"I do!"
"Garnet, you're a fusion?!"
"So are you!" She smiled and held his cheeks.
"We are??" He looked down at himself. "Oh right, I am... so uhh... did we make a good first impression?"
"Aww, Steven, we already love every part of you rather you're together or not." She holds the other close in a hug. Thought it was short lived with Jasper let out a bloodcurdling scream wondering where she was.
Steven Squared nodded, and headed out of the room that would be home to Garnet and Jasper's fight, eventually finding Amethyst and Pearl, freeing them, then heading to the control bridge catching Peridot off guard, she attempted to use a destabilizer on Steven Squared, but he held it despite the weird tingling it had given him, he snapped it in two, while Amethyst tied her up in a whip, while Pearl took over the controls. Steven Squared watching on the screen seeing Garnet and Jasper fighting, while Peridot then used the escape pod to leave and she was flung somewhere into the great North.
"It's Jasper. You need to find the others and get to the control bridge."
"We don't know where they are."
Garnet smiled and give them a kiss on the forehead passing their future vision to him briefly. "Haha, fusion vision... wait are you gonna be able to take her on all alone?"
"Don't worry Steven... I'm never alone." She replied with a wink.
Human Steven had a pang of worry about Lapis, and debated with his brother while still in the fusion on rather or not they could go back for her, only for Garnet to return and tell them that the ship was going to crash and to brace for impact.
"What about Lapis?!" Human Steven's worry evident in the fusion's voice. "There's no time!" Garnet replied. Before she huddled everyone into the corner as the ship had finally crashed into the side of the temple, making a massive explosion, spreading shrapnel everywhere.
It was calm only briefly until Jasper had crawled out of the debris of the destroyed handship. She huffed and puffed. It was surprising she didn't poof with the amount of energy she was hit with when she was knocked into the the ship's power source. She snarled upset, "Don't think you've won, you only beat me because you're a fusion...if I had someone to fuse with I'd.--" Jasper was interrupted mid sentence by Lapis pushing off other shrapnel. She huffed, seeing Jasper coming she tried to fly away only to but pulled back by Jasper.
Lion eventually seeing the explosion from where he was taking a nap, then went to go find the crystal gems, smelling out for the sent of Gem Steven's gemstone, eventually finding them. Lion had freed them from the rubble with a powerful destructive roar, then the bubble that the fusion of Stevens had created to keep them safe, had dropped the three of them giving him props for his quick thinking and faster actions.
"hey buddy." Steven Squared replied as Lion joined in on the cuddle pile, before Steven Squared gasped. "I can't believe you're a fusion all the time!"
"You met Ruby and Sapphire?"
"Oh no.... we were going to introduce you... Garnet, your plan."
"We were waiting for your birthday."
"We can still do it... we'll just pretend we didn't know. Honestly I kinda forgot that I was even a fusion myself... but something feels kinda right about being like this... kinda comforting." He replied, as they got up.
Jasper holding her by the wrist. "Aw, don't fly off so soon."
"Lapis!" Human Steven's worry for Lapis being justified in the moment when she was being held by the very same gem who hurt Garnet, who hurt him, who ruined his future birthday surprise, the gems as well as his own left arm had to hold the fusion back from trying to run to intercept Jasper and Lapis' interaction as Jasper continued to talk to Lapis.
"Lapis, listen, fuse with me."
"What??"
"How long did they keep you trapped her on this miserable hunk of rock?" She dropped her to where she landed on her knees on the dirty ground. "These gems... they are traitors to their homeworld. They kept you prisoner, they used you, this is your chance to take revenge!"
Lapis looked over at the gems, her gaze solely on Steven Squared, seeing the white pupils looking at her, begging, pleading silently with her. "Come on... just say yes."
"Lapis, don't do it. Please..." He was being held back by the gems, by his own left arm, but Human Steven's personality shining through, while Gem Steven's nagging thoughts were put on the back burner, as he held his tongue hoping hoping maybe Lapis could see the right decsion.
Lapis look shifted into anger, how dare this abomination order her around. Then she turned to Jasper and held out her hand, in which Jasper took it. they danced. "Lapis No!"
Their gems glowing before the two of them fused into a massive fusion sporting 6 arms, featuring traits from both the Lapis Lazuli and the Jasper, before the fusion laughed raising the ocean to form some sort of shaky wave before the fusion itself was surprised by the water taking form of ice chains. It was clear that Lapis was was in control of that moment, Jasper trying to separate the fusion but the ice chains held them together the fusion in Lapis' voice telling them, "I'm sick and tired of everyone always using me for some sort of gain... I was their prisoner, I was your prisoner, and now your my prisoner and we're staying on this miserable planet, TOGETHER." Then they were dragged out of sight by the Earth's ocean that Lapis had control over.
Steven Squared looked out on the water, before the two of them unfused. Both of them sporting a black eye over their right eyes. Gem Steven's was more of a pink rose patterned bruise while Human Steven's looked more like a traditional bruise. Lion went over to comfort them while placing cookie on the ground between the two of them, laying down in a protective manor over the three of them, while Pearl double checked over both of their bruises worried about how the Steven's were handling having black eyes.

Spinel's frustration growing as he continued to block her onslaught of attacks while singing. She was frustrated enough as is, but the singing felt like he was taunting her. Steven Squared knocked her back with a shield. Spinel started spinning and twisting like a top, while he continued to block those twisting punches, and slammed her back again, and jumped further so they'd gain the distance to have more time to talk Spinel down. "Spinel, listen to us! After everything you've been through, it would make sense for you to be in a lot of pain... and that's normal, but attacking us for what mom did won't undo that pain, it wouldn't fix what she did to you." Spinel twitched a bit, similar to be fore when asked who she even was.... but he was right. This wouldn't bring Pink back... But no, she wasn't gonna give in so easily, she wasn't this silly naive trusting stupid little gem any more. She knew this was just another trick to make her feel guilty. This stupid place is why Pink abandoned her. "No! NO!!" She pulled her hair, hitting her head making squeaky toy noises, she wasn't going to let him get into her head, not again... she already put too much trust in Steven before. "YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW I FEEL. NOBODY DOES!!" She snarled as she bounced over and shifting her fists into a bigger shape than before and started punching him over and over again, the pink gem growing more irritated with every blocked hit. The human half of him just wanted her to stop fighting, they wanted to help her, but the gem side still had his doubts. "Well, if you think nobody understands you, then why don't we talk about it? Let you're feelings out, it must have been so hard with no one to talk to for 1000s of years, so many thoughts and feelings to go through and I'm right here to help you..." Steven Squared replied, only for Spinel to grab him with her giant hands, and spin him around, faster then the teacup ride at Funland. Steven Squared screaming as he was starting to get dizzy from being in the circular motion, only for him to be tossed up into the air. Spinel turning into a spring and jumping up after him. Steven Squared continued to sing the song he was singing before hoping that this would convince her to stop fighting. "You can make it different You can make it right" They had risen above the green sickly clouds to reveal the beautiful colors of the middle of the night sky while the sun was behind Spinel, while the moon was behind Steven Squared silhouetted but the soft blues behind him, "You can make it better, we don't have to fiiiight." Spinel's eyes changed as she listened to his song. "You can make an effort, starting with toniiiight." Steven Squared's voice started to lose it's hopeful tone as Spinel's face twisted into one of anger, both fists had grown to a massive size, clasped together. "''cause youuu- you can make a change." Spinel yelled back, "SHUT THE FUCK UP!! YOUR STUPID SONGS 'NICE' GESTURES AND ANY OF YOUR OTHER TRICKS AREN'T GOING TO WORK ANY MORE!! YOU CAN'T CONTROL HOW I FEEL!" She brought up her arms, and with all her rage and hurt fueled strength, her fits came speeding down at him. Steven Squared made a bubble before the she had come into contact with his entire body, causing him to be slammed down. His bubble popping on the contact with Spinel's hand. Steven Squared was falling down fast, at the realization that he's failed to get Spinel to see she could still have that fresh start despite everything she's still doing. Steven Squared could see the ground coming faster and faster, he couldn't think of anything positive, he was in a panic. As he was falling back to Earth, he was intercepted by Lion and Connie coming through a portal, catching him while he was midair. Steven Squared snapped back to reality seeing that Connie and Lion were there to help. They weren't supposed to help him, they were supposed to be save with their dad. Steven Squared's mind was going a mile a minute wondering where his dad was, where the gems were, how much he's failed the Earth. (2/?)
~Continued from @two-sides-halved
It all happened so quick in just a few seconds Spinel's chance of a fresh start was met with relapse... draining the progress made this entire time were reduced to empty words and motionless promises that planted doubt in the ragdoll gem's mind.. Rose was the icing on the cake.
Netherless the scene shifted as the half human let out a sigh of relief seeing the fusion change into a more stable form and quickly save her father in the process.. it made her wonder if Ga-reg went into the new timeline with Nebula... what a silly thought having two fathers running around afterall the Gem has mentioned Pink a lot more than their own dad.
She paused as the pink blur rushed into the Human's arms blending into a beautiful bloom of lights fusing into... a more complete version of Steven.. their gem looked reinvigorated overflowing with energy again.
"Wait- Hang on! I thought Gems couldn't fuse with organics?? Nebula is a fusion!?" Eris took another glance watching the hybrid face the pink gem with her hair frizzled paired with a unhinged glint that matched the threats that came out... facing eachother like a long awaited battle between rivals..it'll be a lot more wicked if the girl couldn't hear the agonizing screech of humanity coming to a end... again.

The cocoon of thorns completely encased the fusion, making the cocoon starting to form the shape of any egg. The sound of sobbing muffled through the vines, before the plants were thick enough to mask the sound completely. The sound of thunder boomed in the distance but it didn't bother the fusion inside the egg like cocoon.
Inside the mindscape, Human Steven was sobbing distraught. Gem Steven focused on the other trying his best to comfort his mourning brother. "Steven... I'm sorry about all of this... I I should never have made that stupid message to the galaxy if if I had just taken up the mantle of Pink Diamond like I was supposed to, we would have never been in this mess." Gem Steven replied rubbing the others back. Human Steven turned to the other, his sad expression morphing into one of anger, "Steven, would you stop blaming yourself for once in your life! I was so excited for you to get him... I'm happy I managed to get everyone's memories back but... it's not your fault... it's her fault" Gem Steven looked at his brother confused. "I gave her all my time, all my energy, I did my best to help her feel better about standing in the garden for 6000 years. I was so patient with her. I tried my best trying to be fair, to be nice... you were right... not everyone deserves that kindness." Human Steven's voice got darker, "she took away Connie's future... so now all she's going to do is live in a hell of her own creation."
The cracks between the vines of the egg shaped cocoon glowed with a vibrant bright pink glow. The egg had grown bigger and bigger before bursting into an explosion of roses, thorns and shredded vines. The gem on the fusion was no longer looked like the normal rotation of a round gem, the gem was rotated now showing the full size of the diamond gem embedded in their body. The large fusion stood up on his two feet, the clothes he was wearing stretched and torn to accommodate his bigger size only covering the upper part of their chest while a new pair of arms was coming out of the sides of their abdomen and they were unhindered by clothing.
Instead of standing at the height of an average Quartz solider the fusion stood the same height of Pink Diamond, dwarfing Spinel as now he was twice as tall as she was. The fusion sported pink skin, their hair no longer dual tone, now it was one solid light pink and the very tip of their large mane of light pink hair stopped at the knees. His eyes were fixed on Spinel, his breathing heavy. His mouth dripping with salvia due to not being about to properly close their jaw. Gem Steven looked over, "Alright, I gotta say I'm not sure how I feel about the energy but how do you suppose we do that?" "Just follow my lead." Human Steven replied, his arms lifting up. Gem Steven following the others lead. The two of them stared at each other, the pink eyes of the fusion's pupils changed now both of them a deep crimson red. The fusion's face soften and they extended both pairs of arms for the other as an apology? Spinel dropping her weapon to the side went in close for the hug. Perhaps she had been seen that she had gone to far and was accepting the hug as a truce? Or perhaps she thought that Pink had finally returned to her by mentally breaking her sons and now they could finally be together. "Steven, why are we giving her a hug?" "We're not hugging her... we're just getting her close enough to do this."
The fusion in one big swift movement, opened their dropping wet maw, revealing their two sets of teeth. Spinel looking up, realizing the trap she had just walked into, "oh fuu--" The fusion took a large chomp out of Spinel's form ripping her stretchy body to shreds causing her physical form to finally poof, the gemstone now in their maw and the massive fusion proceeded the chew on the gemstone in their mouth until it was practically a powder that turned into a thick paste, before they gave a thick gulp.
The fusion was brought back to the moment at hand by the thundering and lightening happening around them. Their eyes went back to the balanced form of normal. Black diamond pupil and white star pupil. The fusion had scooped up Connie's lifeless halves into the second pair of arms, carefully packing her organs into the cheeseburger backpack being extra careful that the majority of her corpse was in their trusty backpack. She deserved a proper burial even if it was going to be on Homeworld.
"Garnet!... Amethyst!... Pearl!!" He called out as he continued walking with picking up Connie's sword as well as the family's sword and bubbled them putting them into their gemstone. In the mindscape. "Ok, we gotta find Lion and Dad and get out of here, we can explain what happened with Connie and Spinel once we get to homeworld." Gem Steven replied, "... Steven?" "Connie..." He muttered, as he was holding a swarm of butterflies taking Connie's shape in his arms. "Alright, I guess I'll go find Dad and Lion and comfort you when we get to Homeworld when we're safe and sound." Gem Steven replied seeing how his brother was withdrawing in the fusion after what had happened to Connie, he didn't blame him, if he had seen Sadie like that he would be devastated. His breath hitched as he had realized that Sadie was at Beach-a-Palooza but he never got to see her play, not as himself anyway. He shook his head, "Focus Universe you got Lion and Dad to find."
"Must've warped." Mega Steven continued trying to look for Lion since he wouldn't leave them behind, nor would he be able to use the warp pad without them, seeing Lion in the distance as they ran closer hopping another gap while the lower arms had held on to Connie making sure she didn't fall out of the backpack, clinging for dear life. As Mega Steven landed gracefully against the ground, he heard the familiar sounds of his father. "Dad!!" He called out looking around for the source of Greg's struggling noises.

Lion was quietly watching her gaze fixed on himself. He walked toward her and sniffed at her softly and kneeled down to show he was passive.
Gem Steven chuckled a bit. "I guess Lion got your attention more than I do..." He gently pet Lion's head. "You can pet him if you'd like. He's well trained."

A short series of foster homes has been Oaklynn's home longer than any other, ever since an elderly couple found the abandoned car on the side of a road just beyond the city. Doors were still flung open, the child still strapped in her car seat, face red and tear-stained as she tried to escape the harness. There had been no one else at the scene until the police found the bodies of her mother and brother in the woods beyond.
But now it was time to leave.
At five years old, Oaklynn packs her kindergarten backpack with everything she thinks she might need - her toothbrush, a set of pajamas and a spare set of day clothes, a favorite book, and as many snacks as she had been able to procure until now. Her favorite toys - those that had come from parents she was beginning to forget - are shoved down into the pockets of her jacket.
She is entirely overlooked as she makes her way through the streets of her small town and walks along the empty road that leads away from it. For three days she continues her escape until she finally reaches the next city over: Beach City.
As she stops next to the 'Welcome to Beach City' sign, her eyes widen at the strange scenery of Little Homeworld and the temple in the distance.

"Steven sings them to himself when he washes the dishes... that is when Pearl isn't doing the dishes..." Human Steven replied. Blueberry Pie hums to the tune as well. The memory continues with the Gems getting into the cockpit of the hand ship. Human Steven is huffing and puffing, causing Gem Steven's brain to go into a panic seeing him as the weak and defenseless child that used to have IVs attached to his skin, and a catheter for dialysis making an obvious outline from his school uniform and paler skin then normal.
Peridot is easily taken care as Classic Steven jumped in front of the others to keep his friends and family safe breaking the destabilizer with his hands, while human and gem steven were preoccupied in the hallway. Gem Steven blinked, suddenly seeing him as he normally was, he was holding himself against the wall, and gave a weak thumbs up, huffing and puffing. "just ... catching my breath... I'm-I'm fine..." "right... right..." Gem Steven headed inside with him and held him close. "Lean on me... I'm more sturdy than the wall is gonna be when this thing comes crashing down."
Classic Steven turned around, "We got the ship's controls, we need to get Lapis." Garnet heads up into the control room. "There's no time, the ship is going down!"
"Brace for impact!" Gem Steven yells stretching his family around him close as if he was Rose Quartz during the end of the war, a large basic shield summoning above them before it fizzled out from his lack of energy. Classic Steven's bubble shield activated mere moments later without seals them all together keeping them safe as the handship crashes into the house and explodes, raining shrapnel over most of the beach but keeping the main residential area and businesses of Beach City unharmed other than Steven's house itself.
Gem Steven opened his eyes, seeing that Classic's bubble had kept them safe relaxed him, a wave of relief washed over him, and a deep sense of pride as well. However, they were under a lot of rubble, and Classic Steven didn't have the same strength to make his shield expand more than it had around them as it is to push the debris away like he could. But before he could say anything both Lions came running as soon as the explosion, one coming from closer the side of the house while the other came from the woods. They both looked at each other momentarily a confused look on their faces before both of them reaching a silent conclusion and both focused their roaring abilities to break the rumble and rocks that they were under.
Classic Steven dropped the shield and huffed. The Lion with the lighter coat and darker pink mane went and absolutely tackled both the Steven purring loudly happy to see them. Gem Steven chuckled and pet over him and pressed his forehead against his timeline's Lion. "Missed you too, buddy."
Everyone congratulated Classic on his good job, and Classic mentioned. "I can't believe you guys were a fusion the whole time... are you usually a fusion at the time-- and you have your own Lion!" Classic Lion snorted, as if he was jealous. "Don't worry Lion, I love you too." Classic Steven reassured the more stoic of the two pink Lions. Soon everyone went silent as Jasper's body flipped back as if the rumble she was under were merely flecks of water from the shower, heavily grunting, on her knees.
The group looked over, Gem Steven focused on her specifically. Her form glitching out to a miserable looking Jasper nearly corrupting the words coming out through choked sobs asking how she wasn't enough and asking why did Lapis have to leave, before Gem Steven blinked a bit, seeing the current Jasper pissed off. "Don't think you've won yet... you only beat me because you're a---"
"A team!" Gem Steven stood up, standing in front of everyone, as he signals Lion to comfort his brother, while he was interrupting Jasper before she could ruin the surprise for his brother. "We are the Crystal Gems! We didn't bow down to Homeworld's tyranny then and we won't now! I'm sorry you're just a sore loser because Garnet beat your ass like a bongo drum." Gem Steven yelled out, Human Steven making a disgusted face, holding over Classic's ears. "Hey.... I wanna hear what's going on."
"If I had someone to fuse with I'd-- huh?" Jasper and Gem Steven's eyes went toward Lapis getting herself out of the rubble.
"If you want to fight anyone, I'll fight you myself!" Hoping the challenge would distract Jasper from the Lapis that was going to emerge a drop of worried sweat dropped down the side of his forehead. "Damn it, you hot headed idiot, take my bait don't get the idea to fuse with that bitch, she's going to be nothing but awful to you, please I don't wanna see that happen again..."
Lapis pushed the rumble off herself looking pretty bruised up and dirty. She saw Jasper approaching and went to use her water wings to leave, but Jasper got her by the leg before switching her grip to her arm with her other hand. "Not so fast, brat." Jasper spoke to Lapis holding her up by the wrist. "Don't fly off so soon."
"Lapis!" Classic Steven yelled, worried about her but the gems held him back. Jasper continued, "Lapis listen, fuse with me." "What?" Lapis asked confused. Gem Steven upon hearing the phase "fuse with me", he could hear the butterfly wings beating in his head, "Why wasn't I enough for her? Why did she have to leave me? I'm the only one strong enough to handle a brute like her even when she looked so delicate and dainty like a Pearl."
Gem Steven shook those old phrases that his Jasper's echoes whispered in his mind and rushed into the pair of gems, not thinking of who he was worried about more, but one thing he knew in his core was that Malachite couldn't exist, she shouldn't exist, she won't exist if he had anything to say about it. Then ran into the perfect quartz solider, rushing through the sand, summoning his bubble boxing glove, aiming for the space in between them, maybe if he stopped the fusion, maybe things would be better... Jasper without even looking smacked Gem Steven and he flew into the air.
"Steven!!!" Human Steven went huffing and went to catch him before he were to land on a large spiked piece of shrapnel. "You ok?" "Who cares about me?" "I do! You almost got poofed or worse!" Human Steven replied worried. Gem Steven went to get up, before seeing the conversation continue. "How long did they keep you trapped here on this miserable hunk of rock?" Jasper asked. Gem Steven wanted to yell and tell her that was Homeworld's fault in the first place, but groaned in pain from the bruise from from the impact on his face materializing as a rose shaped bruise over the same eye that Classic himself had gotten when Jasper had headbutted him merely hours ago. His eye swelled semi shut.
"These gems, their traitors to their Homeworld, they kept you prisoner, they used you. This is your chance to take revenge!-- Come on, just say yes." Jasper replied with a twisted smile. Lapis looked out at them, Classic looked over, "Lapis, don't do it."
Lapis face displayed a look with a sad almost innocence before her face twisted into on of anger, she was sick of being told what to do by others and decided for herself, that she was going to fuse with a hand held out to Jasper. "NOOOOO!!" Classic Steven shouted being held back by the gems as they group watched as the two of them started dancing and forming into the massive four eyed four arms green fusion, that had no singular voice but both of her components voices at once.
Gem Steven had seen it before, his mind had spaced out, Jasper's voice echoing the despair over the loss of Lapis made his body ache, he felt sick, before he looked up at the fusion, silently in his mind counting down to the moment where Lapis inevitably double crossed Jasper, but the tone of her voice, the words she speaks, she didn't do this for Steven... she did this to take her anger out on someone that represented the people who put her in the mirror and the people who someone who wanted to use her again for their own needs. He watched the massive fusion get dragged off into the sea by the icy chains that Lapis controlled, seeing that Jasper actively screaming was trying to get out of the fusion, but unable to do to the chains that held them together.
It made Gem Steven's chest thrum with a pang of empathy for Jasper, and a deep pain of guilt since this was only the beginning of a shitstorm he couldn't prevent. Classic Steven watched and yelled for Lapis before the fusion in Lapis' voice shouted out "Let's stay on this this miserable planet together!!!" Before the fusion is pulled down and out of view.
The group looked out at the water, before Garnet adjusted her visor and broke the lingering silence. "Yikes... they are really bad for each other." The next memory portal opened where Malachite went down into the ocean.
"I mean I knew that Jasper and Lapis didn't have the best relationship but I never saw Jasper cry... like ever... it's kinda bizarre... Like she's so big and strong... and I've never seen her cry... I didn't know that loosing Lapis had bothered her this much" "Yea... I have no doubt that there would probably be more of that the further we go... there are somethings that Gem Steven wouldn't want you to know and I just hope as we're going through these winding ever changing, connecting and intersecting memory ways we never go down them... because I would have to censor the whole thing because I'm not like Raspberry Tart and beg you to keep a secret from Gem when he wants to keep this as far away from you as possible so he can open up when he's ready to."
"Yea... I get that... ready to go to the next stop?"
Continued | @erisdiamas
The visage nodded, "Fair... granted he is torn up about his interaction with Cherry, we could probably check today's early memories but considering how everything is going at the moment, it's probably gonna take a while to actually find him so the more we linger the worse its gonna get when we actually get to him."
"Yea... mmm, let's go this way." Human Steven replied pushing open a new walk way in through a decaying wall, and turned to Eris, and gently pulled her away from the inky pools in a protective manor as if she were an infant about to stick a fork into a light socket. "Eris, let's just stay away from the inky black goo please... I don't want you to get pulled down too."
Classic Steven looked over between them, seeing no change and letting out a soft sigh as he watched on to make sure no one would interrupt what was going on between them, worried about how everything was going.

Greg was trying to keep it together, as he hung above the glowing pink ooze that swallowed up his empty van moments before. He was quietly talking to himself, as he made small grunts trying to keep his grip on the pipe. They were inaudible to Mega Steven as he was looking around.
Mega Steven had looked over the edge of the cliff seeing the massive sea of glowing pink bio poison. Greg was holding on to a single pipe in the ground. "Dad, are you ok??" Greg looked up at his son, he recognized the face, the eyes, Gem Steven was in control now. Greg wanting to lighten the tension in this stressful time replied with, "Oh me?... I'm just hanging around."
Mega Steven stared at him, "Really?" He understood his dad was a man to make jokes to lighten the mood, but right now was not the time or the place. "Right... sorry... Mind giving me a hand... I don't really know how long this pipe's gonna last." Greg replied. Mega Steven nodded, "Right, be fast!" He replied more telling himself to get to work reaching their father. His lower set of arms weren't letting go of Connie. In fact Mega Steven's body squished against her with a sickening squelch of her organs being emptied into the cheeseburger backpack. He continued to move his upper arms reaching for his father, his face squishing into his shoulder.
The two of them were so close, nearly touching finger tips before a horrid SNAP was heard. Mega Steven screamed clutching his fist trying to grab at him, but Greg had fallen to fast. Greg's last word was calling out to Steven, before a splash... he couldn't see Greg in the thick pink glowing goop. There was nothing to save, nothing to fight, nothing to hear but the sounds of the world around him thundering and lightening the rain turning into hail, turning into stream before even got to his pink skin. Mega Steven was laying there, huffing, drooling, sobbing, until Lion nudged into the fusion. "dad..."
"sad later, save now." He replied through the short huffs, shifting back to his normal Steven Squared shape and getting on Lion's back with Connie securely in his arms, "Let's get somewhere safe, buddy." Lion nodded and started running with the two of them on his back, before letting out a loud roar.
The portal had ended up having them skid to a stop in a small section of the beach city forest. It was night time, it was free of shrapnel from Spinel's injector. In the mindscape, the bright pastels were dulled to muted greys. Gem Steven looked toward his brother, who was still clinging to the butterflies that formed into a Connie. Gem Steven walked over, and shooed them away.
"CONNIE, NO! COME BACK PLEASE!" Human Steven was holding out his hands as the butterflies dissipated, his eyes full of tears that threatened to fall down his chubby cheeks.
"Steven, I know you're sad and upset, and you need time to mourn, we're safe now... but we can't just keep carrying her lifeless body around with us... we need to burry her."
Human Steven let out a pained sob, "th-this should have never happened... if if i didn't leave to go get those damned cookies you'd still be you... and we'd stop this together." He huffed.
"Steven, you're not the one who abandoned Spinel in the garden causing her to go bat shit crazy from loneliness... you're not the one who announced he wasn't going to be Pink Diamond any more... you're the only reason why we're both together here right now."
@erisdiamas | Continued
"Alright, I guess I'll go find Dad and Lion and comfort you when we get to Homeworld when we're safe and sound." AHR Steven gave the other a nod, "Alright, and away we go." He replied focusing his energy on warping the two of them to Gem Steven's timeline. The warp stream acts like it typically would until the colors of the stream shift through the rainbow before they end up dropping down onto the living room warp pad as if nothing happened. The two were now facing the temple entrance. Gem Steven could be heard arguing with Lion about letting his jacket go, and how it wasn't play time from behind them. Classic and Cookie were watching them from the window seat, not even noticing that company had warped in.
The kitchen sported the familiar set up of having a wrap around counter with four bar stools to sit at, one bar stool had a full cheeseburger backpack laying up against the table. The kitchen's drying rack was full of dishes that Gem Steven had just washed. The fridge had the chore wheel on it, most of them having Pearl's name written on them except for the dishes, which Gem Steven and Pearl's names were constantly written and scribbled out by the others handwriting.
The front door was blocked by Lion and Gem Steven's tug of war over Gem Steven's jacket. Above the door was the painting of Rose, it looked almost like a photograph of her in the temple room, she had a sweet sincere smile on her face, with her eyes closed. The game system in the living room looked like it was set up for a 4 player game. it looked like Steven's bed was missing and instead it looked like the once lofted bed actually lead to stairs that took them to a second floor.
Gem Steven grumbled, sweating a bit from the scarf around his neck, "Lion, come on, give me back my jacket... I'll give you a Lion Licker if you drop the jacket." Lion then opened his mouth and Gem Steven yelped as he lost balance and fall on his butt. Classic looking over at him, "Steven, are you ok??" "Yea, I'm good... just a bit of a bad landing." He replied summoning a Lion licker from his gem space and tossing it to Lion, who grabbed it and scurried upstairs to go eat it.
Gem Steven looked over, "Hey! How was the trip here?"
"Same as last time I was hear... I can't seem to get the hang of warping to where I'm not facing the temple when I come here." AHR Steven replied. "Winter... how did you handle the trip?"

Steven had let out a soft chuckle, "Yea, I can see that, Yellow's not that much of a people person." He paused, "Just like Lars, he's a bit of an... acquired taste." He scratched the back of his head.
"So would you like to join me in the warp pad so I can escort you to Gem Steven's timeline? Or did you need a little more time getting ready... like texting family so they don't get worried?" Steven asked.

Steven Squared hummed as he greeted his dad with a big hug, and waved to Pearl, who was basically continuing the song that he had been singing earlier.
He smiled, petting over his pink Lion who was purring deeply as he got pet, "Alright, lets head into town to see Garnet, see ya later at Beach-A-Palooza dad!" He rode off on the pink Lion as he headed toward the little homeschool.
@erisdiamas | Continued
Steven Squared's face contorted, into a semi confused expression, as the two once again had a conversation this time internal, before shaking off the confusion with a smile again, before stretching out, "Well as much as I'd like to stay, we're sure that the gems and dad would be just as happy as we are to see me." Steven Squared replied mentioned to Connie, who didn't seem phased by his odd manor of speaking.
Connie smiled, "Alright, I'll keep watch of the cookies, I think you're Dad and Pearl are practicing for Beach-A-Palooza."
"Ah, that's right!" Steven Squared headed out of the door to go see the rest of the family, starting to hum as he walked down the stairs seeing a real life butterfly flutter by as he started belting out a tone talking about who here they are in the future and it's bright.

Raspberry Tart smiled, "welcome to earth."
Human Steven was thinking for a moment on how to fix Garnet further before his phone buzzing in his pocket, it was a panicked text from Connie. "Oh no. Ah Bismuth, Peridot, can you watch Garnet please?"
"I think she's doing a pretty good job of that." Bismuth chuckled as Garnet was indeed entranced with her new existence.
Human Steven nodded, then scooping up Spinel. "Lion, buddy we have a job to do..." he called out for his pink companion, giving a huff, setting Spinel down and trying to whistle for him however it wasnt working, "Great, I can't whistle without him either...... Spinel, I need you to stand right here--"
"why?"
"So I can get Lion... he likes to pounce so I figured that you'd stay safer at a distance."
"Ahh ok." Spinel replied bouncing a bit as she waited.
Human Steven simply let out a soft "pspsps" before the footsteps came thudding toward his direction and the big ball of floof had tackled him with love and affection.

Raspberry Tart looked over as the child were about to give him a talking to about how mean he was being, the butterflies swarming around them again after Eris utters the word 'oh'. He knew she was being serious about the situation as much as he was at the time.
He was in agony, but just feeling Human Steven losing hope, was far more painful than the torture that rejuvenation had done to him. His lips curled up into a knowing smile, looking at the hybrid child. "You sound surprised to see that the embodiment of negativity is acting like an asshole."
"You must understand that even if I know my words are like venom that sends chills down the spine, and shakes someone to their very core and make them really think about how badly they must have messed up to end up with me, spitting out their own negative thoughts back at them... it's really up to them rather they just wait till the venom takes them, or start working themselves up to find an antidote." With his last words on the subject, not even pausing to ask if she'd like to go back already knowing that he'd annoyed her long enough with chances to back out and just hear it second hand, she was firm in that she wanted to witness it. He waved his swarm off as they continued to watch the scene.
Human Steven mentioned out loud still forming a plan, "Well, when I was little, Garnet mentioned she first formed when Ruby rushed to Sapphire's aide... so maybe if we put Sapphire in danger Ruby would rush in and fuse with her and make Garnet again." He paused, while Peridot got his attention, "How about this?" "A giant pizza cutter?" "Well, not exclusively a pizza cutter, but yes that is one of its functions... you could use this to threaten Sapphire." "I can't threaten them with this." He replied as he was handled the giant blade. Peridot nodded, and pressed it, "Well now you can." She replied giving Human Steven a smile. "Plus you've handled a sword before, this shouldn't be too different right." "... right..." He was already not liking this plan. Spinel giving a cheery, "Good-luck!" Human Steven had come up to the pair of reset gems, their faces still reminding him of his family. He hardened his nerves, this was for the best, he had to do this. Ruby stepped between the Steven wielding the spinning serrated blade. "Stop right there, I can not let you near my precious Sapphire, with such a threatening device." Human Steven's tone, darkened, "Well that's too bad, because I'm going to slice you to pieces." He replied, raising the spinning blade above his head. Ruby not turning from Sapphire, "Permission to dispatch the curly haired one my Sapphire?" Sapphire calm, "Ruby, stand down. He's in genuine distress at the thought of hurting us, and he's not going to follow through." Human Steven's façade dropped, "It's true.... Even if we are just pretending" He turned off the blade with a huff and through it on the ground, walking away, distraught at the plan not working. Ruby amazed that the Sapphire's prediction came through. "My Sapphire, you were right, what do you predict would happen next?"

The Stevens were silent. It was high time they explained their emotional outburst from earlier. Gem Steven went over to gather up the hamburger backpack and hot dog duffel bag. Human Steven looked down at the younger Steven, thinking of the best way to explain their situation. Connie got up, “I’ll go help Steven back up.” Human Steven replied with a nod.
“Steven, you remember when we said we moved here?“ Human Steven continued his explanation as Lion came over for pets from him, “Well, it wasn’t like moving from another town, or state. It was a bit more complicated than that.”
Gem Steven hummed an unfamiliar tune, he seemed to be trying to block out Human Steven’s explanation for himself, he focused on gathering the supplies. Human Steven pet Lion’s mane. Cookie mewed and hopped up onto Human Steven’s leg using his claws to climb up the fabric of his pants so he can sit on his head and purr.
Human Steven took a deep breath. “We’re from an alternate timeline.” Human Steven wanted to explain more, but knowing his brother’s close proximity, it might have not been the best time. “I’m sure you have a lot of questions, and I’m happy to answer all of them. I don’t wanna hide anything from you.”
“Ok, everything’s packed up, let’s walk and talk.” Gem Steven replied leading the way back. Connie gave Human Steven a smooch on the cheek. “I’ll make sure he doesn’t get too moody up front.”
Human Steven smiled. “Alright, Lion.” Lion laid down to let them get on. Human Steven set the younger Steven on Lion’s back and got on top, and set the curled up kitten on his head in front of Steven. Cookie mewed and pawed at Steven’s hand wanting pets.

Human Steven paused to think, “Well, first let’s see if theres anything we can do about the tent… bro?”
Gem Steven spit on the destroyed remains of the tend and mushrooms and flowers grew from the spit. “Nope. Nothing I can do to fix it.”
“Mmm, we can think about that later… we should get you back home its pouring like crazy out here. We wouldn’t want'cha getting a bad cold.”
“THE PASTA!!” Gem Steven screamed, “We were in the middle of making pasta when we fell to pieces on you… do you still wanna finish doing that? We can fuse back together and continue it… this time with Connie, Lion and Cookie being close by it won’t be as bad.”
Huh. Maybe there were limitations on Gem Steven’s healing powers. Steven made a mental note of that before addressing everything else that had been said. He didn’t care so much about the pouring rain. It wasn’t the worst thing he’d ever been through, so he smiled a little bit.
“Don’t worry! Dad’s keeping an eye on the ricotta, and… the dough should still be good right? We can totally go back and make it. I’m sure dad would love to meet your friends, too. If… you don’t mind dad still being there?” Steven asked. He couldn’t figure out exactly what had happened, but he knew his dad had unintentionally caused it. His friends’ needs were more important right then.
“I can tell him not to ask more questions like he did before,” Steven went on. “I want you guys to be relaxed. Especially if you’re staying at my house.” It was the least he could do.

The young fusion put their hands on the hood for the car, moving to get up so they’d be sitting on the hood rather then being sprawled on top in the dent they caused. His back to Steven, his hair just as curly as the older Steven's was, however, Steven Squared’s hair was fluffier much longer and had dark hair on top that trailed into a bright pink oddly familiar tint. Lion walked forward watching the older Steven’s movements before deeming him not an immediate threat and plopping down on the side of the road in the warm sand.
The dazed feeling of being flung into the hood of a car from your own trusted cotton candy colored companion was starting to fade, not enough for them to register that the concerned voice that had asked them questions was not their own just yet. “Hold on a minute, bro.” He replied with a hushed tone, “I know just as much information as you do right now.”
The fusion rubbed his eyes and blinked a bit, taking a moment for his eyes to adjust to the light, they saw they were on top of the hood of a car in a dent. He looked at his hands, there seemed to be no signs of blood on him or the car, then he lifting his shirt up to gem on his gemstone. It was in perfect condition, light pink and shiny as ever. “We’re a-okay... I’m not sure why you were so worried.” He replied with a gesture of the okay hand before the older Steven could see his expression change in the reflection of the window, moving into a confused expression, “steven... i didn’t ask that question.” “wait, what do you mean you didn’t ask the question?? there’s no one out here but Lion and us...“ He paused.
“Steven, we hit a car obviously someone has to be here to own the car... they had to have asked the question right?... but that sounded too much like you to be someone else??“ Steven Squared asked with a groan, before rubbing his head, then turning to see the older Steven, and he yelped moving back on reflex, now falling off the car on to his back with a groan, before he got up and shook the sand off his back and out of his hair, and flipped it back to get a real good look at the other person there.
Steven Squared looked up at the other one, his eyes a bright pink, his right eye having a white star pupil while his left eye had one of a black diamond, with two different colored eyebrows as well. It seemed he was wearing a school polo shirt over a bright purple shirt with a pink star on it, as well as some dark black jeans. He took a long pause of confusion contemplation, this person looked a lot like Human Steven but older? The fusion’s eyes studied this older version of Steven assuming maybe this Steven was a human Steven on his way to college? He blinked, “ahh hi.. sorry about your car, i guess we don’t really know our own strength.” He scratched behind his head. “We’re sorry to have scared you, if I did... I’m still getting used to riding on my lion.” His expression changed, “Speaking of which, where is that pink fluff ball anyway? He didn’t run off to chase some desert squirrel, did he?”
Lion let out a soft growl to indicate he was here, as well as Cookie letting out a mew from his mane, hopping out seeming to be very interested in the taller human, only for Lion to pick her up by the scruff of her neck and set her down under his chest.

It was a lazy Saturday morning. Steven Squared was laying on the couch, staring at his hands. Garnet had always said fusion was an experience, but why did his experience feel so frayed… One moment he feels like a single person, the next he feels like two kids in a small trench coat. His father said there was no one like them, two children born from a Gem and a Human. Maybe fusion just didn’t feel the same for them cause he was special.
Steven Squared got up and let out a soft sigh, “What is up with us? I wish we could just… understand why I feel like this…” Cookie’s ears perked up at the other’s sad tone, going over to the boy to comfort him with purrs. Steven Squared gave Cookie soft petting over her chocolate colored fur, while Lion’s eye opened hearing what sounded like a command or an ask in search of guidance, he stretched out and went over to the door patting it like he wanted to go out. Steven Squared chuckled and went to leave causing Cookie to whine.
“Alright, you can right on our head, while we take Lion for a walk.“ Steven Squared scooped up his ice cream born kitten and placed her on his head as they quickly got Human Steven’s cheeseburger backpack since sometimes with Lion’s walks they can get pretty long.
They soon followed Lion outside with a cheeseburger backpack’s worth of supplies until he stopped and plopped on the ground. This action confused Steven Squared, before Lion tilted his head as a signal to hop on. Steven Squared nodded and gently hopped up on Lion moving Cookie down onto Lion’s mane, as he started running with the two passengers on his back before roaring to open a portal and jump through it.
The other end of the diamond shaped portal, opened and they fell quite literally out of the sky, with Lion landing safely but plopping down immediately tired and winded. Steven Squared yelped as the momentum tossed him off landing on on something that wasn’t soft sand, instead it felt hard, but the dizziness hadn’t died down enough for them to even see their surroundings yet.. “Ugh, Lion, you are a terrible driver.” He muttered.
THUNK! The hood of the car dented down and the front end bounced just a bit on the suspension. The young Universe’s head bounced up from his phone, teeth clenching before he opened them and let out a gasp. “Oh no! What happened!?”
He’d only just pulled off the road to reload his GPS a moment earlier. The signal on his phone had gone dead and he was trying to figure out where to go from here. But all of that was lost on him as he tossed the phone into the cup holder and threw open his door, stepping out and giving the stranger a wide-eyed look.
“Hey! A-Are you okay!?” He didn’t care about the damage this undoubtedly did to his Dondai. Nope, his only concern was the person laying in the newly made dent on his hood. “Are you hurt?!”

Connie could see Steven Squared was getting in his own head again, and gently squished his face, "Hey Squared, focus on me." "Connie... I let everyone down... I I can't talk her out of doing all of this." He gestured to the world dying around them, the thunder crashed, lightening flashed but Connie was there, she was keeping him grounded. "Squared, you haven't let anyone down, there's still an Earth beneath our feet... the gems were talking about heading to homeworld to get some stuff to reverse the bio-poison, there's still a chance we have to salvage this situation." Connie smiled with her eyes focused on his white pupiled eyes. "But I-I can't get her to see any reason... she keeps saying I'm tricking her... I I really want to help her." He sobbed softly, tears softly beading at his eyes. "Well..." Connie gently wiped away his tears, "This is one of those times where some people don't deserve your kindness, Steven. You've tried to get her to calm down, see what she's doing is wrong... and she doesn't care. She made that pretty loud and clear when she started yelling profanity before trying to spike you like a volleyball. She's never fought me before, but I think I have an idea on how to handle her." Connie replied, holding out her hand. Steven Squared was quiet, he wasn't sure. He didn't want Connie to get hurt, but she had so much hope radiating off of her, that he started to believe they can bounce back from this. He nodded and held her hand as the two of them stood strong, together with Lion by their side. Lion looked over for Steven's go ahead. "Lion, buddy, I know you wanna fight to protect us, but right now, Dad's off somewhere and I can't see him... go find him... make sure he's safe please." Steven Squared replied, Lion giving a nod, roaring a portal away from the area of Earth they were going to fight. Steven Squared paused as he saw Spinel land, his family sword stick in the crumbling dirt behind her. "What's this?" Spinel asked focused on Steven and Connie, "Aww, is the big bad savoir of the Galaxy having a hard time, and needs a cheerleader of his own? Or are we adding a new player to are little game... cause so far, I think I'm winning." Steven Squared and Connie nodded at each other as the both of them rushed at Spinel. Connie going in for a swing, only for Spinel to jump over them, and dodge Connie, only to miss the fact that Steven Squared wasn't aiming to hit her but get that stupid pink sword that poofed her before. The sheer rage and betrayal from what that blade had caused, cause the pink gem to let out a horrid cackle with the flashes of lightening. What was more surprising was that the fusion put his sword in his gem storage space, what was he playing at? "Spinel, I told you... we don't have to fight... you can still make a change for the better... I believe in you to make all this wrong you did right again." Steven Squared replied, the sincerity in his voice was still present, no mal intent masked by his kind words, but this was her last chance, and he wasn't willing to give her any more chances after this, they've lost the temple already, as well as the board walk, and some peoples home, the rest of the Earth had to be fairing better than her in Beach City. Spinel was quiet, confused, why was he still trying to talk her out of this... why did he believed that she could change for the better.... she still wanted nothing but to hurt him, and this person seemed like someone he personally cared about. Her face twisted into an enraged grimace. "There you go again... with your big talk, and your soft voice to make it sound like all of this is ok... but you know what... I'm not falling for your fancy word play, Steven Universe. You can't change my mind!" Steven Squared's gave her a tired frown of his own, "Suit yourself." His voice just tired of giving her chance after chance, Connie was right, Spinel was too stuck in her hurt, stuck in the past, not even wanting to take the first steps to attempt at healing anything. (3/?)
Nebula is a fusion!?" Eris took another glance watching the hybrid face the pink gem with her hair frizzled paired with a unhinged glint that matched the threats that came out... facing eachother like a long awaited battle between rivals..it'll be a lot more wicked if the girl couldn't hear the agonizing screech of humanity coming to a end... again.

Steven Squared hopped off of Lion summoning an imperfect Lion shaped popsicle and tossing it to the pink beast.
Garnet gave Steven Squared a warm hug, before moving him slightly so the brown cat could land on his floofy brown hair, letting out the cutest mew. While Garnet added her own verse to the on going song.
"Well hello to you too, Cookie." He replied, carefully moving the kitten to his arm holding her in his arm like a baby.
Steven Squared humming softly. "Now, all we need to give a warm welcome to is Amethyst... any clue where she might be?"
"Try taking the warp pad." She instructed gently taking Cookie from the fusion.
@erisdiamas | Continued
