"Jesus, is there a serial killer loose or something?" Jeremy muttered, running a hand through his hair. "Any idea why they seem to be herding us like cattle?" he asked, quirking an eyebrow. Faint footsteps sounded in the hallway. "Someone's coming," he said quietly.

Jeremy walked further into the bathroom, letting the door close gently behind him. "Why are hiding in the-" He cut himself off, registering her final words. "Wait, what do you mean searching the floors?" he asked, darting a glance behind him. "What is going on?"

"No kidding," Jeremy replied, crouching down to speak with the small child. "Emma's a pretty name. My name's Jeremy, and this nice lady is Vanessa. We'd love to help you find your mom. Can you tell us what she looks like?"

Jeremy glanced behind him as he made his way down the silent corridor in search of a bathroom. The lines in the basement had practically wrapped around the corner, and while generally patient, was not one to wait and hour to relieve himself. It was simple enough sneaking past the half asleep guards. Sighing in relief as he neared the door, he jogged the rest of the way. He was not, however, expecting a dark haired woman just inside the door.
"Holy sh-- Jesus, scare the life out of me, why don't you," he said weakly, slapping a hand on his heart. "Did... Did I get the wrong bathroom?"
Bathroom Hideout || April and Jeremy
April separated from Reece and took off running down another hall. She knew most of this building like the back of her hand, having spent countless hours walking the corridors to avoid having to go back to her desk. As soon as she could, the woman ducked into a bathroom, not caring which one it was. She took a few steps back and kept her eye on the door, watching for it to swing open at any minute.

Jeremy barked a laugh, shaking his head. "Unfortunately, all my alcohol is back at my apartment, otherwise we'd be well on our way to shit faced," he replied. Looking up, the bartender noticed the little girl. Eyes softening at her distress, he hummed thoughtfully. "What's you name, sweetheart? That might help us find your mama."

Exercise is for the Weak || Self Para
Jeremy wiped a hand across his forehead as he stepped off of the treadmill. He always loved the tingle he got after a satisfying run, but feeling like his throat was made of sandpaper was one of the things he could do without. Pulling out his water bottle, he glanced at the clock mounted on the wall.
"2:57," he thought to himself. "I can probably grab a shower and be out of here by 3:30." Drinking deeply from his water bottle, he heard the P.A. system crackle to life. The bartender capped his drink and listened.
"Would all CitySpire patrons make their way down to the basement. Thank you for your cooperation." The message continued to play on a loop. Jeremy only rolled his eyes. Gathering his things, he began to move toward the locker rooms when a burly looking guard stopped him.
"Sir, all patrons need to move to the basement," he said in a firm tone. Jeremy offered the man a smile, holding his hands up in a placating manner.
"I understand that, sir," he replied slowly. "But you see I'm in sweaty old gym shorts and a wife beater. I was hoping to grab at least a change of-"
"Son, I wouldn't care if you were in a damn dress. You still need to go to the basement," the man said. "Now."
Swallowing the flash of anger he felt at being dismissed so callously, Jeremy grit his teeth and gave the other man a curt, angry smile. "Will do, officer," he said shortly. "Once I get my personal belongings from the locker room. I have a right to-"
"Sir, if you're going to stir up trouble, I will be forced to take you into custody."
"Really? It would literally take me 30 seconds just to- Okay. Fine. No trouble, of course not. I'm on my way, see? Walking away," Jeremy huffed, turning toward the stairs.
"Asshole," he muttered as he made his way down. Hopefully whatever was causing the trouble would clear up soon. He really needed a shower.

Jeremy took the pills gratefully and swallowed them dry. "Well, I guess it could be worse," he said. "We could be in a hurricane or something." Shaking his head at Vanessa's question, he took a deep breath. "Nah, nothing like that. It's just hot, crowded, and stressful. A perfect storm really."
Tumblr media
Vanessa gave him the excedrin. "No need to apologize, we're all a little on edge." She hated feeling confined, one of her deepest fears was being buried alive- and this was too close. She tried to take her mind off her fear by being useful. " Are you alright? You didn't hit your head or anything did you?"

Like the movie with Ewan McGregor? Let me guess: you're the creepy brothel owner, right? [He teased, grinning at the man's pride.] I knew I recognized that face from somewhere. Congratulations on the role, man.

You're too kind. As long as it's not an ugly ceramic vase, I'll take what you give me.

Noting the woman's distress, he offered her an apologetic smile. "Sorry. Sorry, I don't mean to be morbid, it just... I don't like being kept in the dark," the bartender replied, glancing up at the dim lights. "Literally and figuratively." He sighed at the feeling of her fingers, before slowly nodding at the offer. "Thanks, that's be...greatly appreciated."

Sounds like a plan. It's been way too long since I've had a friend over. I'll even let you buy the soup this time.

I've been better. I'm not a big fan of being locked in a basement with teeming masses of people, but hey, what's a guy to do?
Tumblr media
Doing well. A perfect balance of chicken and rice. I'm completely ruined for other brands of soup now, though.

But hey, at least there's a friendly face to talk to while we're locked away in a basement. How are you, Vanessa?

Yikes. For your sake, I hope you left it at the office or something and it got covered in paper work or something.
I need a drink.
