i think the rpc has an entitlement issue that goes hand in hand with forgetting about what rp ( at least in an online, written format was about ): collaboration & writing.

you see it directed at content makers. "you're not making the gifs i want" "why are you making that size" "nobody is going to use that template" etc etc

you see it directed at admins. "we don't need that many horror rps" "ofc nobody is looking at your rp the graphics suck" "why aren't you doing *insert whatever here"

you see it directed at other players. "plot with me" "*giving you nothing*" "nobody ever replies to my open starters"

and the best rps imo avoid that by letting the muns contribute — let them suggest things, let them build lore for the bigger world, let them build the rp they want to — while as an admin, leading by example by having diverse characters, plotting with everybody and building things with players.

rp is not a commodity, you aren't entitled to it going exactly how you want & if we work together, we can build something beautiful.

please don't mistake silence for hatred. please don't mistake unanswered plotting messages as indifference, or a lack of enthusiasm towards you. considering the ages of most roleplayers, many of us have bills to pay, families to take care of, medical conditions to treat, appointments to make, classes to take, homes to clean, and lives to live away from the computer that are far, far more important than writing on tumblr — life has a tendency to get in the way of hobbies and fun things like this. be patient with your fellow writers. if it doesn't work out, it doesn't work out. of course you can set your boundaries, keep your space comfortable, and softblock whoever you wish, but do so while recognizing it's probably not hatred or apathy that keeps them from leaping into your dms with message after message. they probably love this hobby just as much as you... but sometimes life gets in the way.

I want to clarify how I feel about certain things in asks versus DMs.

Put whatever questions or thoughts you want in my ask box. If I don’t feel comfortable answering it I’ll just delete it.

But if we don’t know each other then sending nsfw questions in my DMs is probably going to get you blocked, especially if it’s right away. Just try a regular conversation. I love regular conversations.

Asks feel more like a fun party game where I can just pass if I want to, but DMs are a one on one conversation. Just because you see me answering some nsfw questions publicly does not mean that I want you in my DMs with similar questions and comments privately.

SpongeBob and Charlie are very supportive with them when they are sad...

Seeing Charlie and Vaggie makes me imagine a bit what SpongeBob and Squidward's dynamic would be like if they were a couple. Let's remember that Squidward and Vaggie have a bad temper, but Charlie and SpongeBob are very happy and positive, with a pure heart.

look i understand that ai generated content is a controversial topic, and ultimately protecting artists' intellectual property should take moral priority, but i feel like when people say "you don't want character.ai you want to rp with someone" they're kinda missing the point because unlike a chatbot, you can't exactly look your rp partner in the eye and say "that sucked ass. do that again"

i think ppl who don't have anything in their character channels and then are like "hey wanna plot" without saying anything are the worst

like it's like pulling teeth sometimes to get to know anything beyond the vaguest things about their muse & the connections are always on you to come up with and then if you suggest anything even slightly creative they're like "well i like to wing it" and it's like ... but that's not what plotting is for ??

and i think it's fine to want to wing things and go based on chemistry but that should be something you say right off the bat. and like arguably ... why did you post a plotting call if you don't want to plot? why not just go straight for a starter call or an open starter?

and i've noticed a lot of the people guilty of this never start ANYTHING ... they want you to message first, you to put in effort to learn about their characters (beyond reading obviously), you to write the starters & decide what your characters are doing and then they either a) never reply to your starter or b) say they don't like it and give you no further feedback so you're stuck wondering how to fix it

like truly some of y'all have forgotten how to communicate and then i'm the bad guy for not reading your mind? i'm the bad guy for not knowing your character hates parties despite you having nothing in their channels? i'm the bad guy for not wanting to write ANOTHER starter for you to ignore? ya. i'm over that.

you know what? you're right. i think there is sometimes a real sense of entitlement when plotting/interacting in roleplay. it bugs me when people expect me to go do all the groundwork and propose things to them, but they don't at LEAST offer up the same energy in response. i've had times where i've written up a whole paragraph of options for directions we could go with plotting and people have responded with just "let's do the first one"

i am a big believer in returning the energy people give you. if your energy is off with me i'm not going to lie down and let you walk all over me like a doormat, i'm just not. so expect the dry energy in return if you're gonna be like that with me.

equally, don't you absolutely love it when you find someone who you do vibe with and you just scream about your ocs late into the night and talk about all your silly little headcanons and make edits and tag each other in musings like omg this is them.... don't you just love it when you get excited to plot with someone? it's the best feeling in my opinion <3 (trying to end this on a positive note)
