ok if you're talking abt the christmas special where they get those fake human forms i JUST watched it >:) i'd honestly love to know your thoughts cuz i feel like there isn't much to say? they def could've made it a bit more interesting, but all in all they seem like very direct adaptations of their bot forms. ngl im a fan of ratchet's design in particular, i feel like it fits him very well. they couldve maybe gone a tiny bit older for bee, but he's tiny anyway so i kinda get it

Boy oh boy get ready for an info dump because like I said, I have THOUGHTS!

Gonna preface this by saying these are my own personal opinions and it's totally fine if other people have different views on this. Anywhos let's dive in!

Ratchet

His is definitely the best of the designs in my opinion. His face is probably the most accurate from bot to organic. I do wish they would have given him a more interesting outfit that reflected his place on the team as the field medic, like giving him a fanny pack or something to store emergency stuff in.

I also wish the designers would have embraced him ya know, being old? That man should have so many wrinkles and worry lines from all the slag he's been through. I know the art style in general for the humans is pretty simplistic, but it wouldn't have hurt anything. ALSO GIVE HIM BACK HIS OLD MAN BELLY DAMMIT! I really like the detail that he has a scar over his eye to represent that broken thingy on his helm though.

Final Rating: 7/10

Optimus Prime

Second best design. His face shape and silhouette are honestly more accurate than Ratchet's. However, I do not believe for a second that he is that cleanshaven. He doesn't have the time for that. His face just looks naked to me. If the designers were referencing the bot design they should have at least given him a goatee.

Also considering that this version of Optimus is much younger, I don't think his hairline should be that far back. Honestly my problems with Optimus's design boils down to fix his hair and give him more of it! Maybe a hat too idk. His outfit is okay, just very simplistic like everyone else's. Also he's very pasty white. He needs a firefighter's tan. (is that a thing?)

Final Rating: 6/10

(Also something I just thought of is I wish that they all would have had the Autobot insignia somewhere on their bodies. Either as like a patch or a tattoo.)

Bulkhead

Why does he look like a jock? Just-why?? Dude has multiple episodes dedicated to how he does not want to be viewed as solely the dumb meathead. He's an artist! He's the head expert on space bridge technology! He's a fraggin' sweetheart!! I feel like he'd want to wear something comfy and non-threatening like a nerdy T-shirt or a funky-patterned button up.

ALSO THEY DE-ROUNDED MY BOYYY! I one hundred percent believe that he would have a broad chest and shoulders, don't get me wrong, but he would definitely have some belly fat too! Also if we go back to shape language, roundness tends to indicate softness and safety, which is evident in his bot form. But then his human form is more triangle shaped, a shape which is often used on more threatening looking characters (Starscream is made up of a ton of triangles). I think the best shapes they could have used for his human design would have been a square and circle mix. Square specifically for his torso to indicate sturdiness. His face is fine, I got no qualms with it. 6/10 On the other hand. . .

Bumblebee

I hate this design. I understand that they were trying to keep the height differences the same as when they were bots. . . But I still hate it. Bro looks like he's twelve. Bro is definitely not twelve, mentally or physically. Bee's face shape is also completely different than his bot form. The others so far have at least been recognizable. You show me any of them and I'd be able to guess. This guy though? I do not know him. I feel like they should have given Bee the sporty outfit rather than Bulkhead, or at least something athletic because he's always energetic and bragging about being "The fastest thing on wheels". I do think the hat is pretty cute. Honestly the only thing I do like about this design besides the hat is that they made him black.

Another reason I don't like it is because the fandom infantalizes Bee so much already and this does not help his case in the slightest. He may be young but he's still a grown ass mech!

Prowl

WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT UGLY ASS MUSTACHE SHAVE IT IMMEDIATELY KILL IT WITH FIRE!!!!!!!!

Ahem, anyways, Prowl is my favorite character (alongside Bee and Sari), and so I feel like I am extra critical about his human design. And they did him extremely dirty.

I'm gonna quote this post when I say that Prowl would not be a white cop. (Definitely go check it out, they make some really good points.) He does have a strong sense of justice, but he's more of a vigilante type who does things his own way even if it defies orders. Plus with how enamored he is by nature and human culture, he's definitely come across instances of police brutality and would want no association with that kind of image.

And yes, I know that across every iteration of Transformers, Prowl has always been the cop car. However, this is Transformers Animated, and they already changed his alt mode to a motorcycle, what's one more change? And if Optimus Prime is allowed to turn into a firetruck then Prowl should be allowed to not have a cop holoform.

As for him being white. . . just no. His faceplate is darker like Bumblebee and Jazz's, and like, come on, he just, he's too cool to be a white guy (I say this as a white guy myself). I don't necessarily hc he's black, but he definitely has darker skin. Also that mustache can go to hell. He already has facial hair adjacent markings on his bot form, I don't understand why they didn't follow that.

Outfit wise, again, no cop uniform. Since he's already a motorcycle, the designers should have leaned into that and made him a cool biker with like a leather jacket and badass boots. Maybe give him some tattoos (i know that's pushing it considering it was the 2000's but like. . . imagine it.). To paraphrase some tags on that post I recommended, We really were robbed of hot Asian leather daddy biker Prowl.

I can at least tolerate the other designs but every time I look at Prowl's holoform I feel genuine anguish at how bad it looks.

Final Rating: -999/10

So yeah those are my thoughts. I know I was pretty harsh with a lot of them but I feel like it was warranted. I absolutely adore this show and these characters, and it kills me that their human designs fall so short compared to their super epic robot designs. Also as a budding character designer I'm extra picky because some of their choices just felt illogical.

how often do the animatronics need cleaning?

That would depend on the animatronic and what they've been doing lately.

Sunny and Moon would be every week if you're lucky. Realistically, they probably need at least a spot clean every day. They can probably do that themselves though, and they probably do it at the same time as they get kids to clean up so as to set a good example and stuff. A full and proper clean is probably weekly at least though. Wouldn't surprise me if they kept trying to push it to every two or three weeks to save on effort and cost though.

DJ gets cleaned... basically whenever? He's a clean guy already, and it requires a little planning and coordination to give him a proper clean so it's more of a "whenever his handler thinks he needs it" kind of thing. He has a warranty since he's not a Fazbear built animatronic, so if they're ever over to check on him, they'll sometimes give him a quick clean too.

For Chica, it would depend on whether she's been eating (if she doesn't physically have the ability to eat) or not, and where that food has come from if she has. She could probably get away with a monthly clean up since she doesn't seem to handle food officially anymore, but with her habits, it can probably range from several times in one day, to up to a month. It really depends on what kind of month she's having, ya know? If she handles food officially, it'd be a quick daily clean, with a proper clean whenever needed.

Freddy could probably be every two weeks or so? He has a compartment for cake in his stomach, he can't exactly go too long before he's a health risk. And he's the face of the brand so he's got a lot of little kids running at him with their grubby lil food smothered fingers, as kids do. Probably gets spot cleaned daily unless his handler is particularly uncaring about the cake thing. He can and will make a formal complaint if it's any longer than two weeks though. Not that anyone really reads those.

Monty very rarely needs cleaning purely cause he likes fucking around in the water a lot. You'll just find him chilling, lying on his belly in the shower with cold water raining on him, or floating around in the water ways. He's one of the few animatronics that can float and he takes fully advantage of this! He basically cleans himself, so they only ever really need to actually clean him if he's walking around stinking of chlorine or something. He's by far the easiest to clean, he will let anyone ever stand there and pressure wash him for hours if you let him lmao it's Monty Enrichment!

Roxy very much does not like being dirty, but may not always notice if she's preoccupied with other things so it ranges for her as well. With all her fluff though, you can get away with just running a brush or a damp comb through it most of the time unless it's particularly bad. She should ideally be brushed out daily, and she would prefer this to be the case, but it really depends on who her handler is whether this happens or not. She's not usually popular among handlers, so unless she does it herself or the Minis do it for her, it doesn't usually get done daily until Cassie's dad gets the job. It's still usually the Minis and Cassie doing it due to some lingering trust issues, but he does offer every day.

She is only bathed when absolutely necessary though. Usually cause handlers can't handle her, she fucking hates it. Management recommends she get a proper clean up at least every month like mostly everyone else, but this has never been the case ever. Luckily, her attractions are both closed so she's in contact with the public a lot less, and therefore not really on management's radar for this kind of thing. So long as she's not walking around looking like a giant, dog-shaped dust bunny, caked in blood or stinking of sewage from exploring near the pipes, she can get away with it lmao

And of the course, the Minis don't usually get washed at all. Roxy doesn't know if they're waterproof and half the Minis say they are, while the other half say they're not, so it's really not clear to anyone how safe it is to do so anyway lmao

The ocean...would be nice but all i can think of is the millionaires in the sub lmaooo I don't think my body could take the strain of everest which is such a bummer, and also I'd be thinking about the bodies the whole time.

But would I go to space? absolutely! I've been wanting to go to a totally dark place for a while so i could see the stars better, and I might go camping somewhere like that soon! So space, because I could stare out for hours and never run out of stars. But Umemiya's with me right? So I get to see him AND the stars! I could look at them for hours, though I've never actually stargazed with anyone before. I'm sure it's even better when someone's with you.

We'd probably bring the essentials and I'd bring so many snacks. I gotta be prepared with chips and candy. And blankets! I'm forever getting cold no matter where i am. Definitely headphones we can listen to music with. I'll have a special playlist for it and everything

And zero gravity would be so fun! I think we'd both be laughing at each other's hair flying everywhere and bumping into each other.

The party was really good until it wasn't. Mouse was actually having a decent time, it was still a little awkward because Mouse wasn't really sure what to do with Mouse's self but Mouse was talking and Playing some card games and Mouse tried one sip of Alcohol- it was yucky- but then Mouse's friend who was supposed to be driving Mouse home started smoking weed and Mouse's mood just dropped. Mouse spent the last hour of the time Mouse spent at the party crying and panicking because Mouse didn't want to get in a car with him even though he says "weed doesn't affect him anymore". Luckily Mouse's best friends were there too and they paid for Mouse to get a taxi home. So Mouse got home safe - thats where Mouse is now, just getting everything cleaned up so Mouse can relax until Mouse gets tired

oh Mouse i'm so sorry that happened!!! it was unfair of your friend to do that when they knew they were responsible for you getting home too - risking themselves is their choice, but it's not okay to risk your friends :(

I want to send Monty a collection of sunglasses in various colors and shapes. Let him have a bit of variety.

For the second time today, you dig through your backpack for a gift to give. What will this one be? You hope it’s a good one like the last pair. After what feels like an age, your paw lands on something. You eagerly pull it from the backpack to give it a good look over and read the tag. It was a present wrapped in green polka dotted paper, a sticker on one side of the ambiguous shape with the name Montgomery Gator written on it, the whole thing decorated in stickers. You check your database for the animatronic in question and start to make your way up the steps in front of the daycare, towards the security door you hoped would lead directly to the atrium.

The door opened without question for you and you stepped right through, once again wondering when you were going to run into the security around here. You always do eventually… or at least you always do when the location has security to run into. You shake off the thought as you take in the atrium for the first time from the walkways.

This place is huge! You can’t help but gawk at all the lights and colours in awe. There was just so much to look at, you struggled to find a place to start!

Strangely enough, you end up starting at the scaffolding and white covers over the attraction at the opposite corner to where you’re standing. What’s that about? Fazerblast next door and Bonnie Bowl next door but upstairs looked fine though. Your curiosity almost got the better of you but you shook yourself out of the desire to explore over there for now. You turn your gaze determinedly towards the attraction directly to your left, all green and full of fake plants of the jungle variety. Do alligators live in jungles? You’re not so sure… but then again, Fazerblast is clearly themed on space and bears aren’t aliens so you wouldn’t be too surprised if Fazbear got it wrong.

Or at least… you’re pretty sure that bears aren’t aliens. They’re not aliens… Are they?

It takes you more effort than you’d care to admit to break out of that train of thought and get back on track. You have a job to do! You can’t keep getting distracted!

With that in mind, you march onwards towards Gator Golf.

Eyeing the golf ball ride as you pass, you continue on until you find yourself standing in the attraction itself. There was even more fake foliage in here, with mini golf greens marking a path throughout the place and an alligator ride still chugging along far overhead. How in the world are you going to find Monty in here?

You wander along the path of greens, passed holes and bunkers and mechanical alligator heads jumping out of the water, passed the huge stage, around the game hazards and under the giant bucket. It takes you a while before you finally spot him. At first, you thought it was just another cool prop, but as you drew closer, you realised that the green and red thing in the water was the real thing.

And that you’d walked passed him at least three times.

He was just floating there. Belly down and snout just above the water line, his tail acting like an anchor. With the star shaped glasses on his face, you couldn’t tell if he was watching you or not.

You whistle to draw his attention but he doesn’t respond. He just carries on floating. You whistle a little louder, but still no response. You try once more, as loud as you possibly can, and still nothing. Maybe he lacks audio sensors? He wouldn’t be the only one after all…

Leaning in closer, you wave at him instead, hoping his eyes are open under those glasses. You lean over the barrier some more as he seems to drift lazily towards you with the water current. Your frantic waving has no effect. You keep trying, wondering if you could drop something on his head to get his attention as he drifts closer to you. You’re about to leave to try that-

Splash!

In a blind flurry of motion, Monty suddenly launched up from the water. He snapped his jaws. You leapt backwards, teeth missing you by an inch. You stare, wide eyed from the floor at the figure now hanging over the railings from the opposite side. Monty laughs, almost cackling at your misfortune, completely unbothered by the water dripping from his every limb. He nudges his now decidedly stupid glasses up his snout as you huff and pick yourself up off the floor. You brush yourself off as he continues to laugh.

“Damn, I gotcha good, lil’ guy!” Yeah, no kidding. This must be the Pizzaplex’s resident funny man without the funny. You’re pretty sure every Fazbear location has one of these goofballs. “Who are ya anyway? Not seen you ‘round here before. You new?” You shake your head and insistently pat the badge you proudly display on your chest. He raises his glasses and an eyebrow at it, studying it for a few long moments before muttering a ‘huh.’ You give him a second to process, wondering if he knew what your badge meant or not. He perked up as the realisation seemed to hit him and his eyes fell straight to the green package at your feet. He should consider himself lucky it’s not soaked…

“Ya got somethin’ for me?!” Monty’s eyes almost sparkled with surprise and excitement and the second you nodded, he dragged himself over the railings so fast you’re surprised he didn’t break anything. “Really?!” You nod, stepping back a bit so as not to get dripped on as he towered over you. Safe from the rain, you stand up straight, puff out your chest and present the gift to him, holding it up as high as you can. He gasped, jaw dropping a little as he stared at the present in awe.

It took him a while to gently lift it out of your grasp and sit himself on the floor with a ground-shaking thud. His tail wrapped around himself, his legs crossed and his eyes never left the little green bundle in his hands. You wave your paws to it to urge him to open it, hoping he does so before the water soaks through too much of the paper. You don’t know what’s in it, but the last thing anyone wants is for him to ruin it like this…

He pays you no mind, taking his time to deliberate it for a good while longer before taking his claws to it. He drags them lightly down the side, cutting paper and stickers alike, but never harming what lies beneath in an impressive display of precision and control. The paper tears away with ease, falling to the floor in surprisingly clean strips and gradually revealing the container within. It didn’t give much away, with no markings to speak of and no labels to describe the contents. With the lid opening towards you, all you could do was wait until Monty showed you to see what it was.

“Oh hell yeah!” A grin split his face like lightning as he beheld it, wasting no time in lifting them up to try them on. He swapped the star glasses already on his face with a blue pair with lenses shaped like the moon, “whaddya think?” You think for a moment before nodding and offering a thumbs up at his goofy smile. “HAHA!” He cheers before swapping the moon glasses for silver clouds with little lightning bolts dangling from them. You mouth an ‘oh’ and nod more enthusiastically. He sniggers with mischievous glee as he digs through the box for the next pair of glasses that catch his eye. The next pair replaces the old, this time shaped like bolts of fire.

“Heh, bet Rox would love these!” You had to agree these ones were pretty cool… what else does he have though? Peeking around the edge of the box, your vision suddenly turns purple and you almost lose your balance from how roughly the glasses were shoved onto your face. You blink a few times as you adjust them with your paws, taking a good look in the mirror on the underside of the box’s lid to find that they’re shaped like paw prints. A smile makes itself known and it only grows as you turn to find Monty grinning goofily at you with red lightning bolt glasses that barely covered his eyes at all. You can’t help but quietly giggle too and before you know it, you and Monty have spent at least an hour trying out his new collection of coloured shades.

He must have had every shape you’ve ever seen in that box! Love hearts, diamonds, rabbits, apples, flowers, feathers, and heck he even had a pair shaped like fish! And of course, Monty had set aside a pair or two he thought would suit each of his friends, often commenting how much Bonnie would have loved this. It was perhaps the only time his cheer was dampened throughout your time with him. What was up with that…?

Well, it was none of your business anyway. If he didn’t want to say, then he didn’t want to say. Who are you to pry? Instead, you would choose another pair of glasses at random and offer them up to him, managing to bring his attention back to the positives as much you could.

As you’re about to take your leave and return to your important job, you place the glasses you were just wearing softly back into their box. You turn to leave, ready to wave goodbye as you go when your arm is suddenly grabbed and you’re pulled back a few steps. Your vision turns purple as the pair of paw print glasses is plonked right back onto your nose.

“Hold onto these ones for me, will ya?” He lets go of you and starts making a mess of the glasses in the box, acting like the lid won’t fit. “Can’t get ‘em all back in so you might as well have ‘em.” He winks behind Saturn-shaped lenses and a good natured, toothy smirk. You’re surprised for a moment, but gradually, a happy smile replaces your round eyes and open jaw. You clasp your paws together and nod your thanks. Your hair is ruffled with a light chuckle in return before he nudges you back the way you were going before he stopped you.

“C’ya later, yeah?” You nod again with enthusiasm, readjust your backpack and wave goodbye as you head on out. He waves back, and just as you’re about to turn a corner and out of his sight, you hear him call out, “you better watch out for alligators next time, lil guy!” You snigger and poke your head back around the corner to give him a thumbs up before you leave.

You make your way back through the jungle foliage and back into the Gator Golf section of the atrium, coming to a stop beside the golf ball themed ride to once again slide your backpack from your shoulders onto the floor. The glasses slip a little as you look down at the bag and you can’t help the smile as you push them back up your nose. It’s not very often you get a gift as well, but it leaves you feeling warm and fuzzy inside every single time…

Sticking your paw into the bag, you can’t wait to show the next person your new glasses. You wonder who you’ll be going to see next...
