Season 2, Round L10, Poll #1
We are down to the final six! One of them will be eliminated with this poll.
Character 47: She is just everything. Without her all her people would be dead or have abandoned their posts (understandably). She is 100% the reason you don't mess with a mama bear trying to keep her cubs safe. She is keeps to the values which have given her life meaning and every time she makes that hard choice to stand by instead of take a short cut, she is rewarded for her struggles. It might be lonely at the top for her sometimes, but she knows her support structure would never let her go crashing down.
Character 61: Everyone benefits from the kooky grandma! She has so many words of wisdom to share, even if it takes a bit of translation at times. This strange (endearing) woman has lived her life in the service of others and 100% deserves to roam around the community with her sweet tooth leading the way. And if anything happened to her, G-d Himself will punish the offenders.

Bells Hells Level 11!
As always: are there errors or major omissions? Let me know! Your preferred feat or spell isn't listed? That's because it's not my preferred feat or spell, and you should make your own post for your own preferences! Additionally, because level-ups are no longer done at the end of sessions but are rather their own separate videos, I now include speculation for the next level(s) since there's often very little time to speculate on the current level.
Chetney: Level 10 in Blood Hunter means Dark Augmentation and a 3rd blood curse. Dark Augmentation increases his speed by 5 feet/round and grants him a +3 (his Int modifier) to all physical saves. As for blood curses...they're fighting mages, so Muddled Mind is looking pretty nice, but Eyeless is also useful and Binding is very versatile. Looking forward: if he continues to level in Blood Hunter, his hemocraft die goes up to a d8, his strikes in his wolf form go up to a d8 and get +2 instead of +1 and he can use his wolf form twice between rests and he regenerates a small amount when he's below half-health. 11 Blood Hunter: It's a big level up, folks.
Laudna: She leveled up in sorcerer and took her ASI to max out charisma, which I support as someone who always respects a main stat boost. She gets a new spell and I would advise leaning into utility and taking Dimension Door, personally. Looking forward: I think I've made my feelings on the concept/multiclass clear in the past, but practically speaking, if you're progressing in sorcerer, it's probably wiser mechanically to keep doing so. Level 9 grants 5th level spells.
FCG: Begone Thot Destroy Undead improvement, and 6th level spells! I mentioned before that I'm really looking forward to Heroes' Feast. He also gets some big utility spells, notably Heal, True Seeing, and Word of Recall. Looking forward: 12 is an ASI and oh buddy please up your WIS score. A feat that does +1 to WIS is a valid choice, just...bring it to +4, please? For me? Observant would be fun if not super necessary since Orym's got that covered; skill expert could also be fun. But as stated with Laudna, straight ASI in your main stat is always a solid choice.
Fearne: Fearne took a second level in rogue, which grants her cunning action (dash, hide, or disengage as a bonus action) which is quite useful if she ends up in combat, especially since, despite a good HP roll this level, she's a touch squishier following her time with Novos. I actually support this, both because Ashley has a strong vision for Fearne and also because I think keeping the party dependent on the Staff of Dark Odyssey is good for the story - let's wait a bit longer until we get Transport via Plants! Let's take the scenic route! Looking forward: L10 druid is a good level - the Cauterizing Flames feature, which is a bit niche but extremely cool, is one I'm looking forward to. I'm not opposed to her moving forward with rogue, per se; I think if she does, Thief is the obvious (and correct) choice. However, Cauterizing Flames is really very good and I would like to see it.
Imogen: I mentioned Chain Lightning and True Seeing as some fun options for her. She also gets access to Disintegrate, which would be very fun to cast on, say, Otohan. Or Ludinus. Or her mom. Fuck them Vanguard. Looking forward: sorry got distracted by the idea of disintegrating the Vanguard members...12 is an ASI and honestly I'd just take the +1 to INT and WIS. Imogen's got so many feats, and I really think having better mental stats would be a great sign of growth, she's done the character work to deserve it, and it never hurts to roll a little better on a wisdom save (I say as a known dumper of WIS).
Orym: He can attack 3 times per round. This is why fighters are great. If you do not think fighters are great you can catch three attacks in six seconds from these hands. Looking forward: yes! it's yet another ASI/Feat. And once again, I think a stats boost is best. Tank better with a +3 to con, and then he can either get smarter, or get more charismatic if he's considering paladin (note: I like the idea of Orym remaining a pure fighter more, but I do not control the Liam, and he's a reliably thoughtful player mechanically so I'm interested in what he does. As always this is me saying opinions and not being prescriptive). He gets another ASI at 14 (fighters! best pure battle class!) while everyone else is getting class features so that's when I'd take a feat.
Ashton: Relentless rage - keep raging while unconscious! Very punk rock. Looking forward: Level 12 is an ASI and yes not to sound like a broken record, but max out that strength. It's up to you and Chetney, and who knows how much longer he'll be around.

12x Nihility Calyx rounds. Today's haul (plus some Tears) got Black Swan a L10 Ultimate, which only leaves one more upgrade for her Basic Attack before her Traces have been completely maxed out.
Shoved a man onto the path to gambling addiction and got a new recipe out of it! I still have no idea what these things are and they lowkey unnerve me!
Found a bird on a ladder in Dream's Edge and it gave me fries.
Found another bird on a billboard and it got me Oak Cake Rolls (proceeds to have Firefly thoughts for five solid minutes)
Helped a Pepeshi avoid committing suicide, which is the third time I've done that in Penacony now.
TIL Kafka and Black Swan are exactly the same height.
12x Erudition Calyx rounds. Today's haul got Himeko a boost to her Talent for a FUA buff.

Round 2 - Household 7: The Fonsecas
The Fonsecas are a family I used to play in my first bacc series last year. They have come to live in Newcrest after all families were evicted from Willow Creek. Sushil has done a deal with Newcrest Council and will be living with his family in the manager’s cottage beside Newcrest’s electrical substation. I spent 4 sim points on them that I’ve been saving up. Here’s a rundown of who they are:
Sushil is known for unlocking electricity for Willow Creek. Newcrest already has electricity so we’ll just use his L10 Handiness for a new position in the manual laborer career. Sushil will be the main sim looking after Newcrest’s substation because of his previous experience as a handy sim. He will also take the manual laborer position himself to represent his new role in the community.
Luba has always been devoted to scientific discoveries. She reached L10 logic back then because the rules I was following used that to unlock the science career. Now we’re using new rules, L10 logic unlocks a position in the covert operator branch of the military career, so we will gain one slot in that. We have a few open positions in the scientist career already, so Luba can keep her job.
Crystal is Hot-headed and Evil. I think she’d make a good criminal, especially with her Evil trait. At the moment, we only need one more Evil sim in town to unlock a position in the Detective career so her trait is pretty helpful.
Gisela was originally going to be a scientist like her mother but one of her traits is Bookworm so she might become a writer. I’m still working her out.

Beginner Bodyweight Circuit • A mild Workout for Rounds Do as many Rounds as you wish. Keep breaks between exercises short and make sure you stop each exercise before your Technique starts to slack. After each Round take a rest of 3 minutes. 1. Bodyweight Squats 20-25Reps Shoulderwide Stance Keep your own pace, yet slower down then up;) Heels remain at the ground at all time. 2. Pushups Max Reps - yet not less than 10. If you want to make it easier, place your hands on an elevated Plattform, just as the Box next to me. The higher the Plattform, the easier. Also Throughout your Rounds you can lessen Intensity in this very pattern. Hands shoulderwise apart Elbows rather look back than out. Core tight, not hanging through. 3. Sliding Side-Squats You can use a micro-fiber-tissue for this one on an wooden floor or a plastic-plate on a carpet. Slide out as far as you can maintain proper form and keep your standing foot in full contact to the ground. Make sure the bent knee is more or less face the same direction as your standing foot.4. Bent over Rows with Elastic-Bands 12-15Reps There are various Elastic-Band/Tubes you could use. I personally prefer the Variation, that I can change difficulty by adding more bands to it, as you can with mine. Bend over here, stand hipwide. Stick your Butt out, bent knees slightly and bring out a „proud" Chest. From full extension of your arms, drive your Elbows as high up as possible, rowing towards your bellybutton. 5. Burpees 10-15 Reps Fully straighten up on the floor, jump into a squat and explode up. 6. Reverse Flys 12-15 Reps Same Stance as for Rows before. You could use waterbottles as weight. 2Kg per Arm is sufficient, bring them apart fast yet controlled and relax slowly. 7. Side-Swings 10-12Reps Narrow Stance, use filled Waterbottles, that you can hold well, yet also without weights this one is also good for explosive Hips. Drive your Butt back/bent Hips and knees slightly and explode out, like you would jump in front of you and relax back into Hip-Flexion. Should become a smooth and rhythmic movement. 8. India Pushups (l10-12Reps You start out as a comfortable „triangle", hips bent, head between tour arms. Elbows to Ground

There are several metrics important to our career progress: How much should I be paid? How long should it take me to get to the next level? Does my field really favor the young and if so, does my career have a deadline?
Employers know the answers as they have the benefit of seeing an aggregated picture through dealing with many candidates and employees. The majority of us, however, may only work with a handful of employers in our entire life. And when we’re early in our careers, this type of information is a blackbox.
This imbalance of information gives employers more leverage, both during offer negotiations and promotion discussions. Last year, I’ve helped around 20 friends negotiate their offers – most of them for their first jobs. I notice that they all originally aimed for a package lower than what people with their backgrounds should be paid. One notable example is a candidate who told me he would be happy with $120k/year and ended up with an offer of $180k/year.
This imbalance of information especially hurts candidates of underrepresented groups who don’t already know people who can help guide them through the process.
I was glad to see an initiative by levels.fyi to let people share their compensation details anonymously and everyone can see the range of compensation for people at certain levels at certain companies.
Recently, levels.fyi shared with me the data. As far as I know, this is the largest data on compensation and level details of tech workers. I used their dataset as a proxy to answer four questions:
How long does it take for software engineers to reach a certain level? E.g. how long, on average, does it take for one person to become a senior engineer or a principal engineer?
How much money do tech workers actually make? How is it different across jobs?
Do women get paid less than men in tech? This compares the compensation details of people at the same company, same job, same level, same state.
The tech industry is notorious for favoring the young. Do younger engineers really make more money? What’s the correlation between the number of years of experience and the total yearly compensation?
Disclaimer
The data is self-reported anonymously, and therefore suffers from all the biases of self-reported, anonymous data.
Just because there’s no evidence in the data to support something, doesn’t mean that something doesn’t exist.
Table of contents
Data
Career progression analysis
Compensation analysis
Compensation by gender
1. Data
After some basic cleaning, deduplication, and outlier removal, I get the self-reported compensation details of 18.8k tech workers. Each entry contains:
compensation details (broken down to base salaries, equity, bonus)
job
level
gender
years of experience
years at company
There are 13k samples with gender specified as Female or Male. Of which, 13.27% are female. This is close to a PEW research in 2018 that women make up only 14% of the engineering workforce.
Approximately 80% of these entries come from the US.
40% from California
24% from Washington
Most popular cities:
Seattle, WA 3119 San Francisco, CA 2331 New York, NY 1133 Redmond, WA 1091 Sunnyvale, CA 877 Mountain View, CA 859 San Jose, CA 648
FAAAM (Facebook, Alphabet/Google, Amazon, Apple, Microsoft) employees make up 40% of the entries.
amazon 2629 microsoft 1971 google 1552 facebook 873 apple 781
65% of the entries are software engineers. 7 most popular jobs account for 88% of all the entries.
software engineer 12405 product manager 1311 swe manager 1125 data scientist 649 hardware engineer 460 product designer 366 solution architect 350
Tech companies have different levels. For example, Google’s levels go from L3 to L10 but Microsoft goes from SDE to Technical Fellow while NVIDIA goes from IC1 to IC9. levels.fyi tried to standardize most levels for software engineering across major companies to 6 levels from Entry Level Engineer to Distinguished Engineer. They didn’t annotate standard levels for entries from smaller companies, because roles at smaller companies are more fluid.
Entry Level Engineer 3526 Software Engineer 3965 Senior Engineer 2795 Staff Engineer 774 Principal Engineer 203 Distinguished Engineer 26
For more details on how these levels compare across companies, visit levels.fyi.
2. Career progression analysis for software engineers
We don’t have the number of years people take to reach a level. What we have is the number of years of experience someone has, and what level they are right now. The number we have is the sum of:
the number of years it takes for them to reach that level.
the number of years they have been at that level.
For engineering roles at some companies, after you reach a certain level, it’s very hard to progress to the next level, e.g. it’s hard to progress beyond level SDE III at Amazon or beyond L6 at Google. Some people either stay at the role for a long time, change company, or change careers.
Reporting bias: people tend to round up their number of years of experience to the nearest integer.
Analysis
If after graduation, people become an entry level engineer, then on average, it takes 1 year to get out of that entry level position.
After spending 4 years as a software engineer to become a senior sotware engineer, it takes another 4 years to become a staff engineer.
It takes on average 18 years to become a Distinguished Engineer.
2.1 Career progression at major companies
Let’s look at the time it takes to move from a level to the next at FAAAM companies.
At Google, on average, people at L7 has one year of experience less than people at L6. One theory is that to get to L7 at Google, you have to be really good, and really good people get promoted faster.
2.2 As level increases, the percentage of female software engineers decreases
Both at standard levels across all companies, and within each major company. This is consistent with the known women’s leadership gap, both in tech and out of tech [1, 2].
Three hypotheses:
Because of the ceiling, it’s harder for women to be promoted.
Women leave tech before they get promoted. According to a research by the Center for Work-Life Policy study, more than half of women in tech leave the industry by the mid-point of their career, which is more than double the rate of men. Indeed surveyed 1,000 women in the field and found that the main reasons women leave tech are: advancement opportunities, wage disparity, and work-life balance.
Because more women entered tech recently, there are more women at lower levels.
3. Compensation analysis
The compensations of tech workers follow a skew normal distribution with a small percentage making an outlier amount of money: e.g. tech workers in India or Russia can make under $20k, while top engineers at Google, Facebook, OpenAI can make millions a year.
Each compensation package consists of 3 components:
base salary
equity (stock)
bonus
3.1 Distribution of Total Yearly Compensation
The median yearly compensation is $195,000, while the mean is $225,000.
This is significantly higher than the results of the StackOverflow survey in 2019, which states that the median salary for Engineering Manager in the US is only $152,000. This might be because of the differences between StackOverflow data and Levels.fyi data:
StackOverflow data is smaller (14.7k samples)
StackOverflow data is more fragmented with respondents from all over the world while Levels.fyi data is more US/FAAAM-focused.
StackOverflow surveyed salary, while Levels.fyi asks for the whole compensation package, which includes base salary, stock grants, and bonus.
3.2 Total Yearly Compensation by Standard Level
As level increases, base salary and bonus increase little, but the stock grant increases the most.
Stock grant is often vested over 4 years – if you’re granted 100 shares, then each year 25 shares are vested. Your stock grant is usually refreshed with new shares each year. After your first year, you’re grant 100 extra shares, so next year you can vest 25 old shares + 25 new shares = 50 shares. The longer you stay at a company, the more stock you have left to vest. This structure of compensation is to incentivize employees to stay longer at the company.
Tip: when negotiating with big companies, it’s harder to make substantial change to the base salary offer than to improve the stock grant and bonus offers.
3.3 Compensation by Years of Experience
There’s a medium correlation between income and years of experience. The correlation is stronger for people early in their careers. As you gain more years of experience, your compensation generally improves, until you reach 18 years of experience. The median compensation for those with more than 18 years of experience is actually lower for those with less than 18 years of experience.
For tech workers – software engineers, hardware engineers, and product managers – with more than 15 years of experience, the correlation regresses to slightly below 0.
3.4 Compensation by job
For each job that has at least 350 entries, the median ranges between 180k to 320k. It’s not surprising that SWE manager has the highest median. There’s also a very low percentage of women in SWE Manager (8.75%).
The job with the lowest median income, product designer, coincidentally also has the highest percentage of women.
4. Compensation by gender
4.1 In all data
The distributions of income for men and women in the entire dataset – across all companies, all locations, all levels, all jobs – match each other surprisingly well.
Among all those report their incomes here, the median for male is $11k (6%) higher than that for female. It’s due to more male engineers at the right tail of the distribution (higher compensation).
4.2 By job
The median compensation of women is slightly lower than the median compensation for men for most jobs, except for the role of Data Scientist and Software Engineering Manager.
4.3 By company
The median income of women is less than that of men in all FAAAM companies.
4.4 By standard level
There’s virtually no difference in compensation between men and women at Entry Level Engineer and Software Engineer. However, as the standard level increases, the percentage of women decreases and the compensation gap widens. This might be because at entry levels, women and men are both given standard offers. As levels increase, pay raises require negotiation and according to research, when it comes to negotiating salaries, women are less assertive than men.
I’d also like to restate the disclaimer: just because there’s no evidence in the data to support something, doesn’t mean that something doesn’t exist.
4.5 By years of experience
There’s virtually no difference in compensation between men and women at for those with less than 3 years of experience. The gap starts appearing later.
4.6 Income by gender for those of the same level, same company, same state, same job
When controlled by all the above variables, there’s virtually no difference in compensations at the entrance level for software engineers at the big companies that we analyzed. In the case of Amazon, the median of compensation for female engineers at SDE and SDE II is actually higher than that for male engineers at the same level.
The gap might start appearing after the first two levels. However, we don’t have enough data for female samples to make any meaningful visualization.
Due to the small number of female samples, we sample without replacement from male samples so that we have the same number of samples for men and women.
4.6.1 Software Engineers at Microsoft in Washington
We only analyze SDE and SDE II, the first two levels at Microsoft, because we don’t have enough female samples for higher levels.
4.6.2 Software Engineers at Google in California
We only analyze L3 and L4, the first two levels at Google, because we don’t have enough female samples for higher levels.
4.6.3 Software Engineers at Amazon in both California and Washington
We only analyze SDE I and SDE II, the first two levels at Amazon, because we don’t have enough female samples for higher levels. We use two states instead of one because one doesn’t give us enough data.
5. Conclusion
Some key points:
The median compensation for software engineers in our data (skewed towards FAAAM, CA/WA-based) starts at around $160k/year for entry level, and reaches around half a million.
As level increases, the percentage of women decreases both across companies and in each FAAAM company.
Our data shows that at entry level, there’s virtually no difference between the compensation of men and women. The gap starts appearing only as the level progresses.
Tech favors the young. For people with more than 15 years of experience, there’s practically no correlation between years of experience and income (corr < 0). After 15 years of experience, you either retire, switch to management, or change career.
I hope that this analysis can guide people in making important career decisions. I don’t wish to make people look at this analysis and compare themselves to the median or whatever statistics there is. Each of us is more than a statistics. Everyone has their own struggle. The average person doesn’t exist.
I also hope that big companies would start publishing analysis of their internal data for transparency, so that we don’t have to rely on anonymous, self-reported data to answer these important questions.

Post-Match Facts
Arsenal have been eliminated from the League Cup by Spurs for the first time since 2008, the season in which Spurs went on to win the competition (2-1 against Chelsea in the final).
This was just Spurs' second win against Arsenal at Emirates Stadium in all competitions (D5 L10), and their first since November 2010 (3-2 in the Premier League).
Arsenal have lost back-to-back games in all competitions for the first time since August, in what were Unai Emery's first two competitive games in charge.
This was the 14th meeting between Arsenal and Spurs in the League Cup; the joint-most played fixture in competition history (with Arsenal v Liverpool).
Paulo Gazzaniga is the first Spurs goalkeeper to keep a clean sheet away at Arsenal in any competition since November 1998, when Espen Baardsen did so at Highbury.
Alli was directly involved in both of Spurs' goals (one goal and one assist), as many as he had been in his previous seven games against Arsenal combined (two).
Son Heung-min has had a hand in five of Spurs' last nine goals in the League Cup (three goals and two assists).

Liverpool v West Ham United
Liverpool v West Ham United
Liverpool v West Ham United
Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson joined Liverpool from Roma this summer time for an preliminary price of £56m
TEAM NEWS
Liverpool will certainly be with out Dejan Lovren, whereas new signing Fabinho is a doubt due to sickness.
Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson will make his Premier League debut, as ought to midfielder Naby Keita.
West Ham may give debuts to a number of summer time recruits, together with midfielders Jack Wilshere, Felipe Anderson and Carlos Sanchez.
Ukraine winger Andriy Yarmolenko is struggling to be match due to ongoing hip and thigh points.
MOTD COMMENTATOR’S NOTES
@Wilsonfooty: Are Liverpool lastly the true deal? On condition that we all know simply how formidable they’re going ahead – and given simply how lengthy they have been craving a top-class goalkeeper – the signing of Alisson from Roma is the peg on which title optimism is being hung.
If Virgil van Dijk can proceed to ooze authority to these round him on the again – and with Keita, Fabinho and Shaqiri greater than compensating for the lack of Emre Can – the Reds would seem to have few weaknesses.
West Ham must also be happy with their large summer time overhaul, together with 10 new signings. With Manuel Pellegrini providing the form of attacking intuition which Hammers followers deem to be their birthright, there ought to be a a lot better marketing campaign forward.
Nevertheless, Sunday might not be their day.
VIEW FROM THE DUGOUT
Liverpool supervisor Jurgen Klopp: “We’ve to be in a championship mode. We bounce into the water and we dive till we do not have oxygen anymore. That is the plan. Lots of people assume due to the switch window we are going to [challenge more] – however that is not how it’s.
“Metropolis – the champions – haven’t misplaced a participant and introduced in Mahrez. They have been spectacular in opposition to Chelsea, each side have been. We’re nonetheless Rocky Balboa and never Ivan Drago. We have to need extra and combat extra. That have to be our perspective.”
West Ham supervisor Manuel Pellegrini: “I’ll attempt to play attacking soccer and rating loads of targets as a result of, all through my profession, I’ve at all times been a supervisor who performs offensive soccer and tries to assault. However to assault, you should defend very nicely additionally, so we have to be a balanced group.
“Final season, they’d one of many worst defences within the Premier League, so this yr we are going to attempt to be balanced whereas at all times considering that we wish to rating one objective greater than the opposition.”

Fiat 500 Round 4 - 20th June 2018
A small field for the normally very popular Fiat 500s this week. A combination of many trips to Llany for some in the past week, working away from home and folks away on holidays meant we had just the 6 racers.
As Mike put it whilst walking off after H1, “that will make your chart look a bit busy!”. How right he was! Compared to some of last weeks heats where nobody swapped positions, H1 did a weeks worth in 30 laps. So Alan cleared the grid in the lead in Yellow, Seb was next in Red and Mike was at the rear in Blue. Seb and Alan swapped the lead on paper 3 times in the opening six laps, though they were trading places throughout each lap. A big off by Alan on L6 and a similar excursion for Seb on L7 saw Mike capatilise and go from the rear to the front. As Alan gathered his wits and got back on the pace, Mike then had two laps with offs, so it as Alan’s turn to go from the back to the front over two laps. Alan settled down to consistent laps out front, as Seb and Mike traded P2 and P3 for the next four laps. Seb then hit a few problems allowing Mike to keep P2. Seb got his act together, much as Dad had done a few laps earlier, and Seb then set off in pursuit of Mike. The guys had a great game of cat and mouse, with Seb eventually easing past Mike with one lap to go. An exciting end to a frenetic heat! In H3, Mike (G) and Seb (Y) had another close battle for the whole heat, as Alan battled gamely against Blue lane. The lads in Green and Yellow were locked in a very tight heat from start to finish – the lead swapping on virtually every lap. Neither could extend much of an advantage over the other – an off by one was matched by an off by the other. Despite the speed and intensity, there were only 5 offs between the pair. This in a class where the difference between pushing hard and disaster is very very close indeed. At the flag, Seb had the nod by just over a second. Two very exciting heats from these three so far, lets see what a tea-break could do for them. The answer, by way of the H5 scoresheet, was “it calmed them down a lot”. Mike went flag to flag in Red, Alan followed home in P2 in Green and Seb brought up the rear in Blue. So Camomile tea really does do the trick. Mike repeated his flag to flag in H7 in Yellow, whilst the Scuderia had a bi of a ding dong, Dad in Red, Junior in Green. The gap between these two opened and closed fairly regularly, with Alan being in P2 at the start, swapping places LLs 5 & 7, then it was 23 laps of chase and be chased. A stumble by Alan on L29 saw Seb take the lead, followed by Alan driving the wheels of it on the last lap to come up short by 2/100ths of a second at the line. What an amazing finish to a cracking bit of racing from these three. Despite loosing out on P2, Alan was as bubbly as the other two as they left the stage. Great stuff. The other three also had an interesting evening, Steve (Y) was first away when the flag dropped and was never bested for the res of H2. Russ (B) an d Martyn (R ) meanwhile had a very entertaining first half of the race. Sadly, Martyn’s challenge ebbed as his car began to stutter – Russ finishing a very comfortable P2 after a good drive in the slowest lane. Investigation after the heat saw Martyn discover a very badly damaged braid which was soon removed and replaced. H4 saw only three offs for the heat, all Martyn’s in Yellow. The first brace at the halfway mark allowed Russ to glide by on his blemish free Run in Green to take a well deserved win. Martyn rallied well as he chased Russ, but his third off, 10 laps from home, put paid to any sniff of glory he may be thinking of. All the while, Steve was plugging away at Blue emulating Russ’ drama-free heat. Martyn’s turn to battle Blue in H6, although a massive tangle of the other two on L1, met by cries of “Ha ha, missed!” from Martyn saw him glide around in the lead for the opening three laps. Red Russ and Green Steve soon got their racing heads on and both demoted Martyn to P3 as Russ took the lead and Steve took P2. These two had a good race, but Steve’s first off of the night on L29 saw Russ go 2:1 up in the heat win stakes over Steve.
Russ showed the other two a clean pair of heels in Yellow as he got away on the last heat of the night. Steve (R ) was battling with Martyn (G) as they circulated closely. Martyn was away first but after 6 laps Steve was past, only to trip up on L10 and see Martyn move into P2. Steve again got past on speed and set about opening a gap. Steve set off after Russ, the pressure mounting until L19 as Russ went off. Steve was alongside as Russ rejoined, but the speed was with Steve as he pulled away to take the final heat win by almost lap. Russ’ woes continued with him coming off several more times. Martyn managed to sneak into P2 on L24, but Russ fought back with superior speed to get P2 once more. Russ had an off o the final lap of the night, a brave marshal risking his nails by reslotting Russ alongside Martyn – a mad dash for the line saw Russ edge it by 0.3 of a second. What a dramatic finish to an entertaining night of racing. Once more, these tiddlers proved to be an exciting class to race. Can’t wait for R5 which should see a few more racers on track.

Wizard of the citadell subclass just dropped! When you've had time to read through it, I'd love to hear your thoughts, especially one the secrets (there's so many)
very quick skim:
I'm not sure why the first abilities kick in at level 3 rather than 2 as most wizard classes do; would revise that. the level 3 abilities are very good though although I think I'd limit it to half your PB rounded down (ie, a L17+ wizard can have three diagrams total).
Dimension Door is a L4 spell and shouldn't be a feature for a level 6 wizard; move this to L10 abilities.
Cryptic Rider is a very cool concept but I do think you should have to respect the individual spell ranges.
I'm not going to read every secret in depth but I think having 20 of them is a LOT for a class that already has extremely high powered features; maybe do 8 like warlock invocations?
In general I think the premise is strong and the vibes excellent - it very much provides a lot of worldbuilding for the citadel - but it strikes me as WILDLY overpowered. Which may be the point, but in that case its usefulness as a released subclass is limited.

HSR 2-11-24
12x Nihility Calyx rounds for Black Swan. Today's haul got her another Talent boost (8 -> 9).
12x Erudition Calyx rounds for Himeko. Today's haul got her her third bonus ability. Also leveled one of her Relics up to get over the 50% Crit Rate threshold for Salsotto's bonus effect.
Finally got around to doing the Prison Break event today!
Having to hear Halfway House for the Pinball section lowkey broke me, I am not gonna lie
I've really enjoyed the Dream Ticker puzzles so far! They're just really neat and make you have to think a little harder than some of the other puzzles have.
Today I learned the Hanu-exclusive rooms are underneath the map. Neat!
The Dreamwalker section was really solid! Last one took me a minute to figure out the right route.
Got my free Guinaifen! She's at E3 now, for a Skill and Basic Attack buff. I also got enough Nihility material to give Black Swan another level-up on her Talent, which is maxed out now at L10, plus a Skill level-up (7 -> 8).
I went birdhunting in Golden Hour after that and it took 20 minutes of rubbing Black Swan's gargantuan ass on every vertical surface on Glaux Avenue but I finally found one hiding in a trash can, by complete accident. 15 minutes after that and I finally heard the last one in the underground mall!
The Critter LC is now mine, and it's now Himeko's for lack of anything else to give her. It's at L70 after a little bit of Tears and cash, and I'll probably get it up to 80 with tomorrow's grind. Got to give Himeko a Fire damage buff with some of the extra material, though, which is great.
Five-Star Fund: 186/240

Serie A round 32 preview: From European exploits to domestic dramas
Fresh from a week where Italian sides did much to reassert themselves on the European stage, Serie A waits for no-one and some mouth-watering clashes await.
Perhaps not one of those sees Cagliari host Udinese. The home side have scored in each of their last six top-flight games against their visitors (W4) – netting a total of 13 goals in the process. Udinese are in a tailspin and have lost eight league games in a row for the first time in their history. Surely their luck will have to change soon.
This will be the 20th meeting between Chievo and Torino in the Serie A: the Granata lead by eight wins to five, with six draws.
Chievo have picked up seven points from their last three home games – the last time they remained unbeaten in four league games in a row was in September 2016. Torino have regained some form of late and are on a run of three consecutive wins – the last time they won four in a row was in February 2015.
Genoa are quietly having a decent season by their standards and have won six points more than they had after 31 match-days last season, mainly thanks to the 20 fewer goals conceded this term (31 vs 51). Their opponents Crotone won last weekend against Bologna, and they aim to record back-to-back wins for just the second time in this campaign (they did it back in November).
In-form Inter have won five of their last seven league games against Atalanta (D1 L1), after failing to beat them in the previous six (D3 L3). For the visitors, star-man Alejandro Gomez needs another assist to equal his record of 10 made in a single Serie A campaign. El Papu scored two goals in his first four appearances against Inter, but has failed to score in each of the following nine against them.
Fiorentina lead by 14 wins to seven in the head-to-head against SPAL in the top-flight, with 12 draws so far. The away side are serious about staying up and are unbeaten in their last six fixtures, collecting 10 points – they had taken only two points from the previous seven Serie A games.
The hosts’ main threat – Giovanni Simeone, has scored in his last three domestic appearances. The last Fiorentina player to find the net in four league games in a row was Josip Ilicic between December 2015 and January 2016.
This will be the 40th meeting in Serie A between Bologna and Verona: the Rossoblu currently lead by 12 wins to 10, with 17 draws. Rodrigo Palacio has been involved in a goal in each of his last six league appearances against Verona, scoring three and providing five assists.
The relegation-battlers haven’t been involved in a draw in their last 15 league games, since a 2-2 result against SPAL back in December (W5 L10).
One of the stand-out matchups takes place at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza. Napoli have taken 16 out of 18 points from their last six games against AC Milan in Serie A, scoring an average of 2.7 goals per game.
The Rossoneri are unbeaten in their last six home games, but they’ve been held to a draw in each of the last two against Inter and Sassuolo. A blip or a sign of things to come? The side from Naples have dropped only three points from leading situations this term, fewer than any other side. The Partenopei have also gained 25 points from trailing situations, winning eight times and drawing once after falling behind.
The only previous meeting between Sassuolo and Benevento came in Sassuolo’s 2-1 win in the reverse fixture. Both sides have struggled for success and have collected the same number of points since the start of 2018 in Serie A (nine apiece). Three of Sassuolo’s last four goals in the league have seen Matteo Politano involved (two goals, one assist).
Another huge game takes place in Turin where Juventus will try to refocus their efforts to domestic matters. Sampdoria have beaten Juve the most times over the last seven seasons in the league: three (once in Turin).
However, Samp have won only one of their last 10 Serie A games away to Juventus, conceding an average of 2.6 goals per game in that run. Interestingly, 50% of the goals conceded by the Bianconeri this season (nine out of 18) have been from set-piece situations, the highest ratio in this campaign.
Arguably the highlight of the weekend takes us back to the scene of the stand-out midweek action. This will be the 148th Rome derby in Serie A: Roma lead by 53 wins to 37, with 57 draws. It is also the top-flight fixture with the most red cards since 1994-95 (32).
Roma talisman Edin Dzeko found the net in each of the first two derbies he played against Lazio, but failed to score in the next five, despite playing 450 minutes.
Pivitol playmaker- Luis Alberto is one of only three midfielders who has been involved in at least 20 goals this season across Europe’s big five leagues; the other two are Florian Thauvin (Marseille) and Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City).

THE ANTI-WORLD CUP WINNERS
Next year the winners of the World Cup will be decided in Russia 2018. But which team has performed the worst in this World Cup, making them the very opposite of World Cup winners?
The worst performing team(s) in each Confederation were all eliminated in Round 1, with the worst record, and were as follows:
1. Mongolia 🇲🇳
P2, L2. 0-1 & 1-4.
2. Djibouti 🇩🇯
P2, L2. 0-6 & 1-2.
Djibouti - the Shoremen of the Red Sea
3. Bahamas 🇧🇸 & Anguilla 🇦🇮
Both had identical records: P2, L2. 0-5 & 0-3.
4. Tonga 🇹🇴
P3, L3. 0-3, 1-2 & 0-3.
5. San Marino 🇸🇲
P10, L10. GF 2, GA 51.
6. Venezuela 🇻🇪
P18, W2, D6, L10. GF19 GA 35.
Venezuela have the best record, despite facing the strongest opposition.
Of the others, San Marino has the worst record, losing every game and conceding over five goals per game. BUT unlike the others had opposition of all abilities in their Group, including Germany, who scored 15 times against them. The other teams were playing the lowest ranked teams in their Confederation. So San Marino outperformed the others (I reckon).
Which leaves five teams. Of those, two teams are tied for the worst record - Bahamas and Anguilla - and are therefore the Worst Teams In This World Cup.
Bad luck to them. I will be supporting them fervently come 2019 - seriously.
