#build a city challenge

Good evening everyone, and welcome to a brand new type of reality TV!

Not only is this an entirely new type of show, but we have completely flipped the script.

Eight contestants have been taken to the middle-of-nowhere, Simerica, and dropped in the midst of a desert. There are roads and buildings, but no running water, no electricity, no money, no food, and (mostly) no other sims for miles around. The surrounding area was once a bustling town, but sadly, it has been a ghost town for over 50 years!

They have cell phones to get in contact with us should they need us; during the day, we have a limited camera crew available, but most filming is done voluntarily by the contestants themselves via cell phone camera, camcorders, and drones.

That is what these eight contestants are setting out to change: they must work together, under these difficult circumstances, to build the area up into the start of a bustling town, called Genesis, within a year.

What this means is that by the end of the first year in Genesis, our contestants will need to find a way to get plumbing and electricity into their town, have built up at least 2 separate houses, a museum for future residents to learn about the founders of Genesis, and a renewable source of food.

If they are unsuccessful, they walk away with nothing but an interesting experience to tell their friends and family.

But if they are successful, they will win ownership of the town, and the rights to do with it whatever they please. However, the contestants that choose not to stay in the town and continue to build it up are free to leave, and can each accept a prize of $20k upon returning to their regular lives.

And if enough of the contestants choose to stay in the town, they also have the choice of continuing the filming of the town's development in a spinoff show. (Our viewers will also have a say in that, so be sure to stream every episode!)

After months of non-stop crashing and years of my, poor, sims being unable to visit community lots, we finally got the Sims 2 working! I haven't been been able to properly play since 2020, due to all the crashing. Thanks to a family member and some super helpful guides, we got The Sims 2 Starter Pack all set up on Linux. All for free! 😉💖

I have been losing my mind over the build a city challenge and the medieval charter challenge. I spent the past couple of months just rolling personalities and making sims in bodyshop on my laptop while my PC was out of commission. It was fun, but I'm not sure if I ever want to see a set of dice again. 🥲😔

Although neither was a family sim, parenting came surprisingly easy to both Bree and Jasper. Baby Rosalind was also a very happy baby, slept through most of the night and loved to spend time on her playmat.

Maybe it was the realization that a baby was not the worst thing to happen to a sim that led them to be more careless in bed, because a few months after Rosalind's birth Bree was experiencing the same symptoms that she had when she was pregnant.

For Rosalind's first growing-up Jasper even organized a professionally decorated cake to be shipped to Pinnacle Peaks.

The Jensens just keep being a lovely household without any particular drama.

Samuel is a white collar man satisfied with his life: after sitting out his 8 hours in the corporate office,

He spends evenings moonlighting at the local bar, still hoping to save enough money to become a bar owner someday. Now, at least, he has an excuse to drink with his friends every night xP

His wife Leslie, who's - in comparison to human sim lifetime - still early in her long years of fairy youth, pretty much stays at home, tending to the home and kids.

And two teenagers - Meridiane and Vans. All of them have been born human sims!

Most of the time Meridiane feels disconnected from girls her age, but it doesn't bother her that much.

She doesn't really care about makeup and hair and boys, and rather play videogames with her brother and dad or spend time with their dog.

The doggie is her best friend. Relationship with a cat who lives to mess up the house is a bit more complicated ;D

And Vans, well... This is how teenage siblings show love. They just hit each other, I guess

Vans is a chill guy, who likes to kick a ball around and has troubles with focusing on studying. Mrs. Sonja Campbell, who's a teacher at the town's school and his mom's friend, comes to tutor him once in a while.

Besides, he also likes videogames, aaand he dates Stella Campbell.

It's more like she decided they're gonna date. How long could the silly redhead be stuck with his gamepad until he'd realized there's h e r beside him, waiting for some kind of first step, right???

So they're together now and they're cute.

В семье Джонс полный фулхаус, потому что у мамы жц - выдать замуж 6 детей XD Им выпало задание на неделю - пригласить родственников и всех сфотографировать ретро-фотоаппаратом (карьерная награда). Родственников у Джонсов нет, ретро-фотика тоже нет даже на Серегиной выставке. Тогда просто сходят в выходные в парк и сфоткаются в кабинке :) Не помню - дети могут фоткаться в кабинке или только начиная с подростков?

Host: Hello Caleb. I hear you prefer to be called Kai?

Kai: Yeah, that's me. Kai Vance, older brother of our glorious leader, Ellie Vance.

Host: It's a pleasure to meet you, Kai.

Kai: You too, even if I'm not supposed to say your name. Why not, anyway? Doesn't seem like the usual format for a reality competition.

Host: Well, this isn't exactly the normal reality competition show, is it?

Kai: I guess that's true. But I still don't know why you're remaining anonymous.

Host: That is because we want to keep this experience as authentic for the viewers as we can. We want them to feel like you all are truly isolated, building this town on your own.

Kai: That makes sense.

Host: I'm glad. So, Kai, what is role in the town? What were you chosen to be? So far we know that your sister is the mayor, and Rowan is the head of resource management and sustainability, so the viewers and I would like to get to know you a bit better now.

Kai: I'm the head of technology and innovation!

Host: That seems very important. But.. is there much for you to do at the beginning? With there being no electricity, and no perceived way to get electricity yet?

Kai: Oh sure, for now I'll just be helping out where I can. I'm pretty athletic despite being a computer nerd, you know, haha. I'll do whatever the other residents need me to do, do heavy lifting, gardening, caring for animals, whatever. All while figuring out a way to get a power source without getting outside help.

Host: I see, that makes sense. So, now that we know what you'll be in charge of, do you want to tell me any more about yourself? Perhaps a university degree, what you did for work, where you come from? Is there anyone waiting for you back home? Do you have any hobbies?

Kai: I can definitely answer those questions. The easy ones first - I do have hobbies, mostly programming and video games, but those are also my job, so I also play some guitar in my spare time, and go skiing when I can. I have no girlfriend or anything, if that's what you're asking about anyone back home.

Host: That's all good to know, thank you.

Kai: Yeah. As for the other questions, I have a degree in computer science, and I was working for a company that was just a start-up when I was hired, but it's pretty big now. I developed some software for them that really propelled them to the top, but I'm not telling you what it is. That's private, I like to keep it a secret. I might be an arrogant son of a b**** but- oh, can I say that?

Host: It's fine, we'll bleep it out.

Kai: Great, anyway, as I said, I'm an arrogant SOB but I also want to be appreciated for me, not just my software.

Host: I'm sure we all understand that, Kai. Thank you for answering my questions, I'm sure our viewers are happy to have gotten to know you a bit better.

Kai: I'm sure they are, too. See ya!

Poor Dan-ah is the most unfortunate resident to move to the Nameless city. With only §1,000 in her pocket, she was only able to afford a single bed and a small plot of land. She's hoping that linking up with a local criminal gang will earn her enough money to build a big house. Or even a small house. Just somewhere large enough to raise adorable kittens or puppies.

However, she's not too worried abut herself at all. As a social butterfly and a mooch, she able to charm her new neighbors into letting her take shelter in their homes when needed.

Luke was so close to her in that moment that she could feel his uneven breath on her face. She could smell his aftershave, the soft notes lingering after a day off the military base.  

"Why go there?" Becky asked suddenly. 

His brow furrowed "Where?" 

"The military" she clarified after taking the smallest breath possible. She didn't want to ruin the gentle equilibrium between them. If she could stand forever in this moment, with Luke's arms wrapped around her, she would. 

Luke's eyes tightened slightly, and he grimaced. "It's...nothing." 

She raised an eyebrow "I don't believe that for a second Luke." 

He looked away from her piercing gaze and spoke softly. "I was hurting Becky." 

Becky tensed. Were they about to open that old wound? 

Luke sighed deeply "I realised later, that I should've told you more about this pack...stuff with werewolves." 

Becky didn't interrupt. She didn't breathe.  

"I know now that I should've explained it all" Luke said, shaking his head a little at his past foolhardiness. "You weren't to know about how it all works unless I told you. It's such a fine balance when you find your packmate, even if they aren't a wolf themselves. I wasn't entirely honest with how...encompassing it is for me, as much as I hate being a werewolf sometimes."  

He stared at her then, and Becky saw and felt all the love he'd ever held for her...that he still held for her. 

All the air left her lungs as her mouth dropped open in shock.  

He smiled, a little sheepishly at her. "Yes Becky, it's true." 

Her throat was dry, but she still managed to get the words out. "After all this time?" Her eyes began to water. 

"I don't blame you if you don't feel the same towards me anymore" he said bracingly, trying and failing to look happy for her. “I was an arse to you.” 

She was shaking her head slowly before he'd finished speaking. "No...no I..." 

Luke was watching her very intently, almost as if he hardly dare believe his ears. 

"I was gutted when you ended things" Becky said, swallowing the lump that had risen in her throat. "I mean...I was so confused, and you weren't even prepared to explain things." 

"No" he agreed, and she felt the regret there. "I...I wasn't thinking about anything else other than my own pain." 

There was a few moments silence. Neither one of them had loosened their grip on the other. Becky could feel Luke's quick pulse from where his arm was on hers. 

"Is...is it true what you said?" she asked, carefully looking at his chest rather than his face. "Is it really over for us, permanently?"  

Luke used his free hand to tilt her chin up, so she was looking him in the eyes.  

"What do you think?" 

The miasma that was the fog of their own potent attraction and care for the other was blinding. Almost to the point of being suffocated, Becky's blood began to race in her own veins.  

"I hope not." 

Before she realised what was happening, Luke had ducked his head down and was kissing her.  

He kissed her passionately enough to be tender and it was all she could do to return his enthusiasm.

Her mind went blank and all she could do was cherish the fact that Luke was kissing her again, and in a manner so sinfully good that it was all she could do to not drag him upstairs. Old memories flooded through her and knowing her own effect on him, Becky didn't let up until she heard his breathy moans through the kiss. 

"I think you missed me just as much as I missed you" she panted with satisfaction after they'd parted and regained semi regular breathing.  

Luke drew her closer and pecked her lips before saying "Becky, I never fell out of love with you." 

"But you did break us up." 

"I did." 

"Do you regret it?" 

He drew her close again and pressed his lips to her forehead this time. "Every single moment of every day since."
